you we did the Winnipeg media League fantasy draft last night and no wa no more waiting we got NFL kickoff tonight Chiefs and Ravens I'm looking forward to hitting that with some of the fellas today on the program of course a look ahead to the banjo bowl and a little more in the Jets off season with the recent report from David pagat so uh welcome should be a real fun program um Brandon rki is going to jump on uh we'll also have Scott bck on the program uh we're gonna bring in Daniel thinkink as well who uh the award-winning Daniel thinkink of the Manitoba moose got a really nice honor today from the American Hockey League so we'll tell you about that think's going to pop on for a couple minutes and we'll take a look ahead to hockey season and then uh in the final half hour of the program my pal Pat greguar from cool that's going to jump on we're going to dive into tonight's game the upcoming NFL season a few of our favorite picks and props before uh NFL kickoff tonight so uh for the fish last night in soue Falls to begin this Uber short best of three series uh they took it on the chin uh not able to get the bats going at all being shut out and now they head back for a Do or Die game Friday night at Blue Cross Park 700 p.m. looking forward to being in the ballpark on Friday night and hopefully for the gold eyes forcing what would be a hell of a daily double for sports fans in Winnipeg a deciding game three 6:30 on Saturday night after the big football game down at Princess Auto Stadium between the bombers and Riders wraps up around 5:00 p.m but uh was kind of hoping we'd be talking about a clinch scenario tomorrow but that is not the case and uh Hey listen if it means extra baseball great but the gold eyes have their backs against the wall already yeah it does set up a possible double header the gold eyes losing 5 nothing to Sue Falls yesterday and you know Andrew Coler was saying hey if the bats you know hit you know we should be able to win these games and well the bats didn't come through scoring zero runs and what you thought was a shoe in with Joey matovic on the mound giving up three earned runs in four Innings I mean I don't know I haven't looked through his game logs but I imagine that's a rare occurrence for him so certainly disappointing start and the gold eyes did pick their opponent Hustler and they picked the second place canaries which was a surprise and they were clearly uh used it as motivation which we talked about they they picked us we're going to kick their ass now and the disrespect yeah the disrespect and uh so good good for Sue Falls but they're returning and does set up a possible you know Saturday double headed with bombers then gold eyes playoffs but game two you know they're traveling today will be tomorrow at Blue Cross Park yes so uh anyways we'll we'll tee that one up tomorrow on the program and uh as I say I'm looking forward to being at the game with some friends some of the wst crew it's going to be a great time um and I'm just hoping fingers crossed that that's not the last baseball game we have at Blue Cross Park after such a great season for the gold eyes winning the division uh but as we know these are incredibly short series getting off to a good start's real important they didn't get it but they do have home field so Friday and hopefully Saturday gold eyes baseball down at the Ballpark um you know Remo I know we're going to be talking a ton of football today on the show but let's just dive into a quick report from David pagata our pal from the fourth period who tweeted this out just in the last hour and he's got an article at the fourth period as of this morning still no traction to report on a new deal between the Jets and RFA C Peretti still get the sense this will go short term but I believe Peretti is open to a long-term Commitment if the Jets present viable options um I listen the more I hear that and I have a feeling like I don't think Dave's getting that from the Jets I think that's probably someone closer to you know Dave's got a lot of good contacts here's in the National Hockey League period but with agents and whatnot and I think you know having it be known that they are open to a longer term term deal I think is great news for for Winnipeg and while it may not have been there in August um if we look at the history of the other deals Kevin chevo has done in similar situations in the past I still think that if I had to BET right now one way or the other I think I'm going on the other side I think I'm going a six plus year extension for col perfetti um you know they've certainly maintained their cap space and the ability to do it right now and as we talk talked about with morat yesterday in a great conversation check that out on yesterday show if you missed it I think there's real benefits to the organization and the player to get something locked up we're not doing this all over again in two years with the prospect of arbitration and more yeah I think it would be advantageous to the Jets to lock them up now because if you don't and you sign them to a bridge deal well I think the number you sign after is going to be more than it would be now if you signed him to a long-term extension but just going by you know how the last season went know being a healthy scratch um you know he would had a great season in terms of you know when he was playing I think he feels like he's capable of more and knowing the agent and the history with the Jets I think it's going to I don't know I just think they've had trouble locking down these deals and they've gone into arbitration with cop they've got done Ridge deals trouba held out so I think we're likely to see a short-term deal he's going to try to cash in after and that number will probably be bigger than what it would be for you know a six-year deal now so uh interesting you know how it's going to go but I kind of agree and daveid did also note that Peretti not expect to entertain an offer sheet we do have people in chat saying you know what if what if he signs an offer sheet what would the compensation be to this the Jets would match any offer sheet that was two seconds that was given to him so uh he's not going to sign any of them and yeah training camp is set for September 18th and will he be there well he won't be if there's no contract so we are kind of on the clock is ticking a little but I think the real deadline is you know game one but you want to go in hust you want to have a good training camp you want to be meshing with your linemates to set you up for success in the regular season you know you've seen before where sometimes it is tough for guys H who don't have a full training camp and everyone's going at full speed ready for game one and you been holding out I know he's working out on his own trying to get ready for this season but you are at a bit of a disadvantage when you come in quickly listen I I I'm of the opinion the best case scenario for the team and the player would be to get something done long term and get it done before training camp and have Cole Peretti come in knowing that his future is secure here in Winnipeg and his job is to go out there with a new head coach take advantage of the opportunities given to him and become a very productive player for the Winnipeg Jets get his money and earn his money and produce for the money um you know I'm just going back to this piece from Marat yesterday and it was you know the the comparisons are are real interesting with some of the other kind of jet star first rounders that have been in this situation so shley was 23 years old and signed that 8y extension um he had 1.5 and just this is the number that moratz had one and just almost two five on five points per 60 uh eers was basically the exact same number but was only 21 years old when he signed a 7-year by $6 million deal Kyle Connor was 22 same age as Cole Peretti uh with almost identical five on five numbers to Peretti per 60 minutes he was 1.9 Cole's 1 .88 he got 7.71 4 and of course L was the one outlier where they didn't do a long-term deal they signed the bridge deal at 6.75 and then eventually traded Patrick l so I mean to me I think the number is six or seven years it's 6 point something but probably closer to six than closer to seven um and listen I I I do hold up hope or an expectation that at some point as things get closer to training camp you know as the as the pressure mounts on both sides they can come together and as I say I think that would make everybody happy um and it certainly would take any uncertainty about future with the club what happens in a year or two what might these next two years mean for the rest of his career no he'd be signed long term locked in with the Winnipeg Jets knowing he's a core piece of this team moving forward and uh at that point much like we saw Mark shley with the great season that he had last year it's just all about going to work not worrying about anything other than helping your team win hockey games and being the best player that you can be um but it's pretty clear that right now obviously they're talking I don't think there's any animosity they're certainly not the only RFA that doesn't have a deal right now but it's going to make the next couple weeks pretty interesting and any tidbits we get like we just got from Dave pagnato are definitely going to need to be addressed here on the program yeah and you look down the calendar for jets contracts hus know last year was really interesting because after the season pretty much all of the forwards were under contract Peretti was an RFA and Monahan and T foi left on UFA but all of the guys who started here and you know and ended here were around next year you know you have eers UFA ifal UFA valarian RFA Appleton domov UFA Baron kapari RFA but I mean after that you only have under contract for 26 27 shley and nether Rider and is eers going to be there as well so the Slate's pretty open for a couple years from now and yeah you could lock in Peretti and have him part of this Jets forward you know for forward group moving forward you got some young guys coming up Brad Lambert know chov was at the thing is he a factor Jagger who's making a lot of views for us here on this channel talking about him so um going to be interesting how the Jets decide to build Peretti age 22 that's a guy you want to lock up for a while how will it shake out and something we're going to be following as we approach raining Camp um you know I know we've had a plenty of why not question of the days about Cole Peretti we we'll do one about some football later on with this opening of the NFL season today I'm interested to get people's thoughts on the upcoming campaign but I certainly wanted to just start off off with that uh with that announcement hey speaking of the Jets while we're at it the Jets announced their uh and I know by the way individual a options for folks but uh we will be doing something again and look forward to getting together with so many of you again at games we had so much fun last year and again thank you to the Jets for beating Calgary so we were able to do it again this year because we would have had to ban ourselves and we went 0 and four but we uh got the win we as in Winnipeg sports talk at the game and uh we're looking forward to doing something too so uh you know pretty busy schedule some neat giveaways that they're doing this year Remis which I think will be great the one thing I I I'm missing I'm not sure if there's a bobblehead uh night this uh night this year so maybe there I mean obviously moving the penet the Snapback uh a cooler bag the cowboy hat giveway a little bit different but uh I don't know up to date maybe that's why maybe that's why they did not have not farewell on bobblehead nights and the player receiving the bobblehead especially has not done well um in majority of the time so maybe that's why or maybe they were waiting to see on the cover of Madden getting your own bobble head maybe they're waiting for yeah they could be waiting for the Peretti contract before they announce that I don't think he's had one o actually that's a that's a good uh good thought there a lot what Nino he's under contract what about him valard could be a guy I don't think he's had one so uh what about Eric comry nah has there been a Lowry bobblehead has has Lowry had one I don't think there has been okay that's the bobblehead right there Jets marketing department if you're you're watching there you go with the c on it with the c yeah you're right there has been there's you know it's usually kind of the top offensive guys mhm they did the heli yeah the fishing one yeah at some point there's going to need to be an Adam Lowry bobblehead whether that's this year whether that's next year or moving forward it'll be good but um anyway so there you go there's the Jets promo is uh an auspicious coincidence or what Remis but Chiefs a holic did get 17 and a half years this morning in a federal penitentiary for robbing all those Banks more you think it is a CO coincidence that they sentenced him on the day of the home opener no I don't think so and I I enjoyed your take yesterday that it was going to be 15 years for Patrick Mahomes but seemed like they went on the side of the law here going with 17 and a half so Chiefs a holic you know escaping robbing banks don't don't do that uh yeah yeah I'm not I'm not here supporting bank robbing I will say though every every team would appreciate that sort of passion and commitment to your team where people are willing to rob banks on the road in order to go to games um but anyways he will not be putting the wolf costume one more time and banging the drum at Arrowhead he's off to jail and the Chiefs are off to the Ravens what do you think about this one tonight Remo and just the season overall we by the way good times last night with the fellas for the Winnipeg media League Draft a lot of chirping from a number of people particularly my co-host on CFL 110 to be honest Hammer was on one last night um but man it was a lot of fun getting together with the guys over at the Heights and uh having a couple and uh making the picks and I actually love the fact that we did it yesterday and we're right into it today with actual game action it was nice I haven't done an in-person draft in a long time I'm with you um I got there close to the wire and it was tough for me to get the Wi-Fi working but I eventually got that figured I think a lot of people there too were you know were on this draft on the website and was like how do you actually draft a guy was someone shouted out and there was only two plugs there thankfully I think computer laptop batteries are pretty good these days but never plugged in I'm usually the guy with the power bar um I didn't bring one and thankfully wasn't an issue um but yeah I got me all fired up uh for the season big contest and I do remember last year's opener where it was Chiefs and Lions and the Lions won and the Ravens is Tony game Sor what sorry that was the cadario Tony game Tony where if he had just played DB and batted every pass that was thrown to him down the Chiefs would have won the game but instead he had multiple drops and a beautiful volleyball style set to one of the defensive secondary members of the Lions for a pick six then ended up being the difference and uh but hey Chiefs overcame it I think this is just an amazing way to get things going I mean of course the Ravens and Chiefs played each other in the playoffs last year Ravens fans still salty uh about the lack of you know they they've ran the football so well all year long they gave it six times to the running backs with no success and then completely stopped running the football and I mean that's exactly what you want to do against a team like Baltimore I mean Force Lamar Jackson to beat you exclusively with his arm um but man they got Derrick Henry I'm really really interested to see how Henry looks in this Ravens offense I think the biggest challenge for the Ravens though is going to be their offensive line which has three new faces on it that's the one area that might not be you know ready to roll if you will and if that's the case that's bad news because there's a guy 95 on the other side and a pretty damn good defense for the Super Bowl champs that'll be waiting for Lamar and de Henry yeah big year for Casey can they complete the threee but Baltimore has been a team that's been so close can't get over the playoff hump is Derek Henry washed you know we probably can run over guys I don't think he's a feature back anymore um you know we'll see what happens with Baltimore but also hus you know who's going to be in attendance Taylor Swift so that's that's really why she's there tonight we're tuning in I mean that's why they have it Hammer the Chiefs Hammer the Chiefs I told I told my wife I she didn't know that football was back so I had to tell her like my Sundays are going to be filled with uh gambling related anxiety which she isn't happy about but I said did you want to watch Taylor Taylor Swift uh tonight so maybe it might be on so she is bringing in a lot of uh casual maybe people who wouldn't be interested in the football but we're all here for we're here to watch the games I love it I I I love it um anyone that has an issue with it um I mean are just haters the fact of the matter is she she came in and won a ring her first year in the league they you know it's it's time to to run it back and do it again and joking aside I wouldn't be surprised that this is Travis Kel's last season um you like he's still playing at an incredibly high level but man he's on the other side of 35 right now I I mean never mind the potential of life and maybe getting married and starting a family which I think is all very much on the table um you play as long as Kelsey has catch as many passes get hit as often um you know at a certain point it really does take it's toll and it kind of looked that way for a good portion of last season and then he went I think uh with 11 catches against the Ravens in the playoff game last year and we realized that he's still that dude but it only happens forever time is undefeated and I wouldn't be surprised if the Chiefs can do it again this year that Travis Keli retires a Super Bowl champion again it would be uh it would be a pretty amazing scenario and I'm sure all the Hallmark movie writers have already have already covered that for um the Taylor and Travis story which will inevitably be coming to a television or a movie screen near you but the story is a lot better if they're able to win it again um Chiefs Ravens tonight we'll talk about it in the upcoming season with rwii as well as Scott bck a little bit later on Daniel Fink on the way and I have cooked up a special raise the banner Rue what's going on how are you I'm doing pretty good my man I I couldn't get all dressed up like you uh no time but we made it we finally made it week one's here so I'm all jacked up ready to go yeah there will be a banner going up today in Arrowhead I am quite excited about it uh and listen I mean it really in the salary cap era the great thing about the National Football League is is that even the teams that were literally the worst in the National Football League last year going into the season thinking maybe this could be the year like the Houston Texans last season I believe had the second or third highest odds to be the worst team in the National Football League they won their division was one of the great stories and you know you go into kickoff tonight obviously people expect the Chiefs and the Ravens to be playoff teams but um I always joke about you know what our mindset is heading into week one and then doing the show and doing the law shop the next week and the week after and thinking back what we thought we knew blew up in our faces in week one because uh all it it doesn't necessarily just carry over season to season like it might in other sports no not even close and I mean Houston's a great example of that too because people were were clowning on them for trading their first round pick for next season to get Will Anderson oops nailed that one so yeah yeah 100% there and kind of on that line you know I as I always do of course did a little bit of digging and and statistical work before my hit here uh it's been over 30 years since the NFL has not seen a worst to first team a team that finished last in their division that ultimately won the division next season so you can't just pick chalk every year like you've got to even when you're doing your standings things and and everything like that you've got to pick one or two absolute surprise teams to come out of nowhere and get it done obviously Cincinnati fits that bill nicely seeing as how they somehow finished last in the AFC North last year wouldn't surprise anybody to see them win the division this year but there's going to be you know even if the Bengals pull it off there's going to be there's going to be a team nobody sees coming that ultimately pulls that off I've got an idea on a team or two that might be well it's funny you say that I'd love your thoughts on this because to be honest you know over the last month when we've had NFL guests I've always tried to slide that question in because I mean it is a great betting topic I mean who are we taking who who is everyone sleeping on right now that's going to win their division or that's going to make the playoffs right now and like when I look at look at some of these numbers like the Patriots there's also a number up at cool we'll talk about this when Pat comes on uh who will lose the most games this year essentially who will pick number one in the draft the Patriots are the clear favorite and I'm I will admit it I'm going to be betting that and I'm going to be it's just going to make me extra happy each and every week when the p rots lose so I mean it's one of those ones that bets that gives back to you quite a bit Patriots are 25 to one to win the AFC East um the Bengals who are kind of an outlier on this I mean yeah were they really a last place team not really it was more circumstances but uh I mean they're right there with Baltimore 150 and 155 to win the the AFC North but interesting team the Tennessee Titans they're nine to one to win the AFC South basically in the Houston position from last year uh the Minnesota Vikings 11 to1 with Sam darnold the Giants are 14 to one to win the AFC East the Broncos 16 to1 to win the AFC West the Panthers 9 to1 to win the NFC South and the Arizona Cardinals with Kyler Murray back in a pretty stacked offense right now 11 to1 in a very tough NFC West so those are the numbers on all of the teams that are sort of at the bottom or were last place last year I don't know if one really jumps out to me right now but uh I'd be willing to take a swing or one or one or two if you could give me a passionate argument as to why it's going to happen I I mean if you gave me P Patriots 25,000 to one I don't know if I'm gonna I don't know if I'm gonna push too hard on that um I mean there's two teams that stand out to me worst to First and I mean whatever let's go For Broke here um the one that I almost took but I won't be quite as bold is the Chicago Bears because I'm I'm all in on the Caleb Williams height they were actually a pretty decent team outside like they started what was it 0 and4 0 and5 but they were a legitimately good team for a l like a long stretch of the season and the defense is completely different with Montes sweating there and then we all know the moves that they made in the offseason to help solidify and put Caleb Williams in maybe the best position a rookie quarterback's ever been in like to have that amount of weapons and then a defense behind him it it's crazy but I just I I like Detroit too much up there at the top to think that Chicago can improve by five or six wins which is probably what it's going to take to beat Detroit so I won't be that bold having said that I will take the Carolina Panthers to win the NFC South yes yes 90% of that is the NFC South itself where wide open it's not going to be that hard and you're not going to have to win 12 games nine wins might be enough to get it done but big big believer in Dave Canales everywhere he's gone in the NFL quarterback whisper Gino Smith Pro Bowl player Baker Mayfield damn near almost a pro bowl player last year I me Tampa Bay won a playoff game with him behind the helm right so like he he knows how to get the most out of the quarterbacks that he has and he hasn't been given you know the Brady's momes Ro right like he's been able to to Really extract the most out of the offense everywhere he's gone but the big thing for them is that they've actually given Bryce young some help which might have been a great idea last year to put your number one pick in a great position right but they spent what 100 Mil on the interior of the offensive line so he's actually going to be able to go through a progression or two this time around which is helpful for a Young quarterback and then Deontay Johnson was kind of a sneaky pickup as well well where he's not maybe your traditional number one but you got him you've got then they they drafted a guy with the the first pick in the second round this past year oh Xavier legot my God have you heard this guy talk I have not no oh my God I saw an interview with him and he is I I don't believe intentionally but it it felt like it was a comedy uh a comedy shtick like he's just got the most hilarious voice in his style he did a sideline interview at the last game I love the guy I'm already in and I've never really even seen him play I I am an Xavier legged guy right off the bat and I'll tell you what for a Young quarterback that struggled in year one Johnson and thenen two of the best route runners in the entire NFL I really do think they're going to be a lot better and that Jonathan Brooks that they drafted is not going to be available for the first of the while be the Canadian chuba Hub getting uh the Reps early on but I think he could be a real Difference Maker when he uh when he gets into it I got to ask you about your Eagles and your thoughts on Philly and I'm not sure if you caught the program yesterday but I was going over a bunch of playoff odds and props and you're not going to like this but I think the Eagles missed the playoffs and I'm on it at two to one like I just think that there is the potential for a powder keg in that locker room I don't think that they like or really respect serani very much they've got two new coordinators I can just everything that happened in the second half of that season gave me really bad vibes about that team and I'm not sure they're really over it they do have saquin Barkley which will be great they've got a ton of offensive weapons I just wonder whether they don't sort of implode inside the room and I think the loss of a veteran like Jason Kelce to keep everyone together is going to be significant talent-wise they're one of the top few teams but there's always a team or two that doesn't have the season we expect and I have to admit I when I look around the top teams in the league Philly's one that I think it could be a down year despite all the talent yeah you know I just hate to see my friends lose money so it upsets me that you said something like that uh it wouldn't be the first time I'm with you but I'm actually I mean look yes I'm a Birds fan it's a complete 180 for me I I think they're I legitimately think they're the team to be in the NFC I don't like I I just it's it's good be so hard for the ners and we've seen it throughout history you lose a Super Bowl it is nearly impossible to get back to that level the The Following season and then they've had to deal with all kinds of yes the guys are going to be there come week one but you know how fresh and ready are iuk and Tren Williams gonna be so I I just wonder a little bit if if San Fran's not going to be they'll be a good team but are they going to be a great team like they were the past year but the the syriani disrespect might be it might be valid but I think what we what what's been proven under his stin as a head coach in Philly is that if you give him great coordinators he's a great CEO and the team will have success if you give him lemons it's G to get ugly really quick like we saw in the second half of last season so I I think just I I'm actually I think it's a huge thing for the Eagles that they have two new guys running the offense and the defense now and that can allow serani to do what he does best and just act like the CEO of the team there's some coaches that hey I can call plays and do everything else that's great there's a lot of guys that can't do it and if you could have the humility to I know humility serani but if you could have the humility you can have the humility we saying here if you could have the humility to recognize your faults which I think he he's doing here but I think you're putting your team in a good spot to succeed so I think I think the offense specifically with Kell more we're going to see I mean you mentioned the talent there there's there's just no way that an offensive mind like his is not going to maximize AJ Brown Devonte Smith saquan Barkley I think saquon's gonna have a monster monster season um so yeah I'm I'm pretty I'm pretty high on the Eagles so I'm not gonna follow up with you on that lost playoff I was just poking you a little bit although I was kind of looking for a team on there and there is a little sprinkle on the two to one too miss the playoffs um AFC East and it's been wild I've been following these odds for the last two months and there's been a real a real shift and I have to admit I'm sort of with it to the New York Jets the Jets right now are the favorite plus 150 the bills plus 175 and people have really cooled on the Miami Dolphins at plus 230 and I mean listen we can just remove the Patriots from this conversation whatsoever already and we have hav't even kicked off yet but a three-horse race I mean where where are you at on the on the AFC East like it wouldn't surprise me if all three the three of these teams made the playoffs I think that's very much in play but it doesn't always work out like that they're going to have real tough games within the division um are you buying or selling the Jets and what do you make of the two teams that have been the top for the last couple years in Buffalo and Miami yeah I it's it's a tough one man I don't really know I'm kind of lukewarm on all three to be honest you know and may me I almost want to buy Miami a little bit because everyone's fading them so hard Now's the Time to do it if you want like but I I agree with the sentiment of like can this be a team that wins in the postseason when it gets cold or everything like that and that's a fair question but you can win the division by going seven and one in the warm weather to start the season like the winds if you go if you start off the year hot who gives a number two if you lose round one of the like if they if they take care of their business and beat the bills at home in that game whatever it was week 17 last year they win the division they play their first game at home and they sure as hell don't go to Arrowhead for the whatever it was third coldest game in the history of the NFL which I am still surprised they even agreed to get on the bus and leave the hotel for because they did not want to be there pressure on Mike McDaniel though I mean he is the genius got his contract but you sort of have to win in the playoffs if you want to be thought of as one of these super Elite coaches in the league and they've certainly surrounded to uh with a lot of uh you know a lot of great talent I just think this Jets team was so good last year yeah with the exception of some of the most incompetent quarterbacking we've seen in a long time part of the reason why I love Breeze Halland fantasy this year because I think you know if Rogers is playing you know they'll run the football I mean we saw what Hackett did in Green Bay I mean they certainly weren't shy to give Packer running backs the ball early and often because of what that does to set up maybe the most lethal play action quarterback in the league in Aaron Rodgers and he's got a lot to prove they've got Wilson they've got Hall they've got Mike Williams there as well I mean it's there and the defense mean the defense dragged that team to seven wins last year what can they do with the legit offense which I think think they have they might have the best roster outside of quarterback in the NFL but you can't make the guarantee that Rogers plays every single game and that that's that's my only problem with them and there's been yes Rogers is he he can be in the outlier case but there's only been two quarterbacks at the age of 41 to start play every game and you know actually be competent and that's Warren and Tom Brady of course so it's can he be one of those three for sure but man I I don't know this is a guy that's dealt with so many injuries in his late 30s early 40s here and it just feels like everyone's oh yeah no he'll figure it out he'll come off the the Achilles and it'll be hung but I mean Achilles isn't that just one of those kind of fluke outlier things I mean listen if he has another Achilles problem he's pretty much done and that's never happening again but I mean outside of that he been coming off a couple MVP Seasons I mean he had still been playing at a super high level and it wasn't like he was a guy that was only getting into seven or eight games a year I mean I think that at that point you know you learn how to avoid getting hit you learn how to keep yourself available if you will and um I I hope that he does play I mean I would love nothing more than to see him face plant and have a terrible season and I mean it would be so fun because like I'm not a huge Aaron Rogers guy but Matt I think they got a lot of Talent on that on that team and that division is um is going to be a war pretty much from the GetGo yeah I think I think that one comes down to to week 18 and then you might have like a three-way tie at the top like I I I don't think there's a lot separating all of those teams and and you can't really Discount Buffalo either because what they've got the second best quarterback in football and all that coaching staff in Upstate New York all the know how to do is crank out double digit win Seasons so it's like yes they've lost talent but also they're damn good team so yeah I I it's it's a chimpy weak move but I can pick a winner right now I guess if you made me I would go with the Jets but that's also such a cursed franchise that it's well that's a great Point like the Jets with high expectations yeah I don't know I don't know um hey what do you uh what do you think about this game tonight um you know the Chiefs three-point favorite at home Ravens they just played each other in the playoffs Ravens sort of have some questions on the o line but they bring in Derrik Henry um the Chiefs look in a much better place than they were last year to start the season with some nice additions at the receiving Corp I mean a championship defense that comes back just about intact what uh what do you think about this one tonight just the uh the NFL kickoff game you know it's probably going to be played out as a as a referendum on Lamar Jackson win or lose you know because like we know like what's there to learn about Kansas City really other than oh my gosh Xavier worthy just ran a 9.91 100 meter dash for 99 yard touch like there's not really much that we can gather no matter which way this goes from KC but it like Lamar is you could just see like he's so close and they were so close in that game last year too I mean you wonder if they don't fumble it near the goal line there if that game is if we're talking about the Ravens hosting and then trying to defend a Super Bowl champs right um but I'm kind of fascinated to see the one big time um negative that Lamar hasn't been able to overcome yet is when teams throw the blitz at him can you complete passes instead of trying to make plays with your legs right and I I wonder if Kansas I mean Kansas City obviously knows that I wonder if they try to go all out on him and expose that or do they hold that back being like let's save this for potential second or third round playoff matchup well we won't show all our cards right out of the gate um but that's what I'm most focused on here is how does Lamar look in year two of of Todd monins passing offense and if the Chiefs do Blitz him early and if he does look a little sharp then it's like uh oh is there going to be an actual legitimate challenge to Mahomes and the Chiefs by the end of the season so that's that's where I've got my my eyes on but I mean this is the Marquee matchup of of week one no doubt about it yeah like I I mean just for tonight I mean one card that the Chiefs will be playing that they couldn't play last year in the banner Razer against Detroit is number 95 Chris Jones who we all recall he was in the suite he had his contrac thing he wasn't there and then of course it became the cadarius Tony disaster game which uh which we all remember but um you know I think he's going to wreck it tonight you know and kind of pop in it it to me it's going to come down very similar to what happened in the playoffs like can they run the football and obviously they've got Derrick Henry he'll be ready to do that but I'll tell you what if the offensive line it doesn't matter if you're Derrick Henry if your offensive line can't hold up you're going to have a tough time running it um they only gave it to running backs six times in that playoff game and then basically said this ain't working and put it all on Lamar's arm and you know and it didn't work out in the end but you make a great point I mean that Punch Out fumble by lerus Sneed on Z flowers was the play of the game in that game and Sneed is the one guy that's not back with the Chiefs and they're going to to f him and he's a hell I mean listen you know you've got you know on the other side you know a pro bowl uh a pro bowl corner but you know who's in that spot and how they hold up we'll see and whether Lamar Tessa I don't know it should be great uh enjoy the game tonight Brandon uh listen we got training camp coming up in a couple couple weeks what's cooking on skates and plates right now yeah just you know continuing the ranking series uh did our team rankings earlier this week so we're just we're almost there we're we're pushing it but legitimate aie talk is coming in so we don't have to you know come up with Mount rushmor and rankings and things like that so I'm I'm pretty jacked up Mount Rushmore in recognition of outstanding media coverage of the American Hockey League fer congratulations what a great honor uh thanks a lot hus it's uh it's as somebody who doesn't necessarily do well with praise yet still has a broadcaster's ego it's been a weird day listen this um this there's a lot of great names on this award and um listen I we wanted to bring you on today just because I can't think of someone more deserving to be honest with you I mean the work that you've done with us always being available um the work you've done to promote the moose and get the world listen it's not an easy situation sometimes being the voice of an American Hockey League team in the same city as the NHL team which gathers up so much of the oxygen but um the work that you and the entire staff the moose have done the creative things online uh the Innovative promotions um the way you've promoted it I mean has been a big big boond to Moose hockey for a number of years and uh it was just great to hear the news today that uh people had recognized it yeah it's uh it's I I guess first off I mean just being able to be a part of the American Hockey League is such a privilege I mean the the people that work in and around this league are so incredibly talented and devoted to the league it's it's really special I mean it's a developmental league and a lot of people are moving on and looking to improve themselves and move on to to bigger and better things but I think everybody that spends time in the AHL or the IHL before it understands that it's a really special place uh and to get to to work with these people that I do here specifically with the Moose is an absolute honor and they keep me San and keep each other sane and I I don't think any one of us would be able to to make it through a week without the rest of them um and then in the league as a whole I mean the just the even just the broadcasters there's so many incredible broadcasters throughout the league and then you start thinking about the writers and all the the people that cover uh the teams just looking at like you said looking at that list it's overwhelming and uh I'm so utterly grateful to to be a part of that list and uh not something not a phone call that I thought I would ever be receiving like tell you that much well I'll tell you what and listen we're just out of Labor Day it's kind of back to the Grind for everyone especially people in the hockey industry I mean August is already busy getting ready for a but it really you really feel it when you get into the office on that first day after the Labor Day weekend knowing the training camp is just around the corner and uh you know listen you get this news today I imagine even more fired up to get back into the booth for another year of moose hockey for a team certainly organization wise um that looks to have some really exciting young players playing you know whether it's at the start of the season for the entire year um you've got some pretty cool young men to uh follow in training camp and uh of course come season yeah I think this is going to be a really interesting year for the Moose especially to start things out I mean when you look at the the new additions for the Winnipeg Jets some of the upand cominging young players that were moose last season even some new additions on the young player front I mean there it's going to be a very interesting Winnipeg Jets camp and I'm very very excited to see that battle it feels like there's spots available there's there's guys that kind of rank into the same spot on the depth chart so who's going to win those battles and who's going to make themsel a spot on the moose and then once you get to the Moose there's going to be an utter battle for ice time too so uh there's a lot of depth there and it's really exciting it's tough to prepare for have no idea who's going to be on our team there's so many different combinations of how it could all play out but that's really exciting when you're thinking about that when you're thinking about the depth from the NHL side and how that parlays to the AHL side of things organizations with a lot of depth that tends to translate to a strong season in the American Hockey League and you think about the young players who took steps as the season went on and now I've had a summer to kind of work on their game work on their bodies and come back as new players however it shakes out it's going to be a lot of fun on the ice and off of the ice we're celebrating the 25th moose season so uh it's it's it's really shaping up to be a really exciting and fun year you know Dan and we'll talk about this throughout the year knowing that it is the 25th season of moose hockey I can remember showing up at work May 15 1996 realizing that uh all right we're uh we're doing this and uh there's about four of us that first day I mean uh Dorian morphe came a little while afterwards and um you we got the rest of the Summer Staff going and then went into that first season and if you would have told me Midway through a very trying and challenging first year having just lost the moose that we'd fast forward to 2024 and we would be the home of the Winnipeg Jets again the National Hockey League and the Manitoba moose were celebrating their 25th year I would have said that you absolutely nuts but um it is truly incredible and credit goes to right to the top to mark but everybody that's been involved in the organization to get us where we at and it's great to see the Moose there such a big part of it uh and a big part of the hockey Community here in the city of Winnipeg and listen no one does a better job at getting the word out on the moose and certainly bringing the energy to the great calls of moose hockey uh on moose hockey.com and of and then you're setting your lineups and maybe having a little bit of jarring in the uh in the chat but um it was a real fun crew getting most of the guys in the league together last night even if we had to listen to hammer with his crazy crazy fantasy takes uh all show which were very which were very entertaining uh I had to convince Remis I'm like listen don't worry I'm pretty sure he was trolling we're not entirely sure uh but it was but any was an absolute Blast how how did you enjoy it yeah I mean so last year we did and you'll remember we did the I actually I don't know if you were there last year yeah last year I had another I had another draft so I wasn't there but I was unfortunate we missed doing it at the hall of fame yeah so that was cool but that's a good one time thing unless we cater it next time because having wings and beer you know just within ordering range was a lot lot easier uh a lot I think it made it more fun I'll just say that wings are great um so yeah it was a good time good draft I I like my draft even though the AI thing didn't but again the AI generated grades gave Josh fasam who comes on your show um an F in his an F in his uh his his draft rating is a guy who won the championship last year so I don't think it's probably that bad you guys believe in AI way too much you probably think all those girls on Instagram following you are real people too I'm married I don't doesn't matter to me um but yes it's uh no it's just it's fun it's it's just a lot of good drawing right I mean it's always fun to you know he brings in the trophy our trophy is awesome one of these days oh he's shown on here hasn't he has he shown the our Fantasy Football League trophy no actually I don't think so oh he should because re was was Remis had like it was like it's like you saw bread or like I don't know something else maybe more inappropriate for the first time um because yeah it's yeah he was yeah he he didn't I don't know how he it's it's a nice trophy but I'm pretty sure that it was 3D printed by Chuck huk what you said listen it's a 3D printed Super Bowl trophy for the Winnipeg media League shout out to Taylor Allen YouTube video on it yeah by the way Taylor Allen commissioning from Thailand yeah was was that's the sort of commitment you need to have to your fantasy league and it's great we did it last year every single person is back this year so uh I think we've started off a nice little tradition and certainly the tradition of getting everyone together or at least most of us obviously we're thinking of a teddy um who actually had a pretty nice draft he was he had a good draft he was angering many people with his remote selections of who he got uh Mike was covering the gold eyes Eddie Tate in there as well and of course Taylor in Thailand but otherwise everyone was there and uh a great way to start off the season now listen I was talking NFL earlier with Brandon and we will do so again when Pat joins us but let's get to the bomber situation um first of all what do you think of the weekend man we missed you out in Regina it was so much fun one of the best Labor Day weekends I've ever been a part of and I've done a bunch um and you know the game it was funny because neither of the fan bases were like really cocky or confident going in I think because of what they've gone through and yet it was still a game for first place and man did the game deliver well yeah it was like what a like yeah the first half was like okay bombers like basically like get rid of all the crowd noise after the first touchdown but then SAS comes back and scores two and then they just and then and then and then Zach had thrown an interception in there and then just like like the thing that to me that really turned the tide in that was that bobbled Mariel Alford punt return um and the touchdown that they got and they score after that and it's just like okay what a change of Fortunes and then a minute and whatever it was before halftime Zack Claris goes down and you're like oh no like I mean that's you know that just letting the wind out of the sails right um yeah and then the second half was wild right like it felt like I was watching it for a moment you feel okay like this second half is 100% going to be survival mode right and and it was you know but balmer's defense did really good in that third quarter both of those those scoring drives that ended in three points could have been could have been touchdown drives I mean they were moving it pretty efficiently and then yeah you get into the fourth quarter and Adam bigle goes down and then you think it's over after they SWAT the after they SWAT the two-point convert and you're like okay well you know they're they coming up the field the bombers prevent defense didn't prevent anything and you know they get the clock down but it's like okay onside kick like who who who recovers onside kicks anymore right like you you rarely see it a scat an onside kick and then you get the and then you get the 15 yard or you get to whatever it was I don't know how many yards it was at the end of it but to the pass interference call and you get a 60 Yer to set up and like the coolest thing and like okay so like I guess the coolest thing was as watching on TV it you didn't know that punt or the the field goal like the field goal was dead center like on the TV behind they got the cam behind and it was dead center right so you're like okay is it short because you don't know but until the TV pans down you have no idea and so the TV pans down it pans down nobody's really saying anything on the commentary and then and then you just see lucky Whitehead like five yards in front of the in front of the end zone there and he's he's catching the ball and he's like he puts like one hand up or whatever uh you know so you then you knew it but it was it was literally suspenseful until like the ball was like five feet from the ground right like that's how it what a game right and just to see what the atmosphere to see the photos that you had and and all the people that were out there you know you talk you talk to the every year like this is a story right like what is it about Labor Day what is it and it's that right like it's that like this game no matter how much you hype this game up um or whatever drama you think that this game you know like can anything else be done and then it just UPS it again right like it was a crazy game the hype was already there it exceeded the hype bombers took first place I mean it it in enemy territory against their bit rivals on the biggest weekend in football outside or in the CFL outside of the great cup weekend um yeah I mean that's I mean that's the sort of story you want to write I mean that's that's that's what you wantan to you want to see if you're a fan right I mean for me I want to I want to write that story because that's that's a cool story and you know you don't always get those and uh yeah and then and then you get to do it all again but here just as crazy um and the only thing that difference is you don't get to make that pilgrim agage that you do every year out to labor day which is special in itself we're going to see I'm I'm interested to see I'm very interested to see if there's some more Ryder fans this year because yeah let's not forget they started off 4-0 the bombers were 0 and four if there was ever a time that maybe the riderville was thinking this might be a good year to get out to the peg I think a month into the season was that time it's still a massive game and you know the Riders have not won since beating the bombers in July so they're an absolutely desperate team um listen it's tough to beat a team two times in a row we saw bombers do that you know against BC earlier this year but I'll tell you what the fact that they got the first one in the road they're coming back at home I think Zach Cero's getting back in after what happened last week I think the bombers the bomber offense might very well be in Fu mode and uh you combine with the defense and the crowd do against the offense I mean I I do like the spot for the bombers right now but um I know it is not going to be easy great news yesterday from practice that Zach was there practicing with the ones yeah the return of Patty newfeld I think sort of was a little bit under the radar as we concerned about Stanley Bryant who wasn't out there but I'll tell you what I mean if the bombers can get newfeld and Bryant back to help protect Zach keros um that's a big win before the kick off on H Saturday at two yeah I mean they need like I mean the way that this Old Line especially with Bryant having a leader like like like Pat newfeld on that line again getting him back would be huge see what happens with Stanley Bryant I mean um yeah we'll see I mean and and Gabe Wallace didn't have he wasn't on crutches the other day but so that's good for him I don't know if that's good for the bombers in the obviously not this week but in you know in the long term getting want to get him back but he's not he's not in the equation a away yeah no um but yeah so it'd be interesting to see I mean because Stanley Bryant was he came out after the fact yesterday he did a little run or whatever so if this guy had like you know some I mean obviously was complicated by his by his hospitalization whatever led to that right but you do Wonder right like you do Wonder okay could you know does he just Stanley bran doesn't need to practice to play although and we'll see what happens today because they have a closed practice today um so we don't know what happened um hasn't come out yet if I haven't seen anything yet um so if he did practice today or if the injury report comes out and says he practic today well that's a good sign right a bit of a test and then today you know turns into okay maybe he practice see how he was we'll see either way getting obviously Kos back is is huge I mean they we saw it they needed it um and we can we've seen this team win with Chris ster before it's just a very painful way to win for him and for for that o line and you really need a healthy o line to be able to do what they did against Ottawa that week so so there's still that but yeah having close offense and I think it'd be really good for for Brady uh too you didn't run a whole lot in that game I got a bit of a sketchy connection here with uh with with bck we'll get him queued back up here in just a minute I think the uh the old internet may have been cutting out in South Winnipeg where bik was will'll get him back up in a minute but um yeah just to you know again having Pat newfeld and Stanley Bryant available to the bombers and in and I Scott was just sort of getting into the fact that they didn't really run the football as well as they had before and listen I think part of it was scatch was expecting so much run and Zach keros was able to sling it um the way that he did coming up in the uh in the first half before being knocked out of the game and of course getting the team into that position where they could run the football play defense play field position and end up still putting themselves in a position to win now they didn't want to have to win the game three different times but they eventually they eventually got it done but you were just mentioning that running game and and listen the running game wasn't as big a part of the game on on Sunday in Regina especially if these guys come back I think the focus gets back to a lot of Brady Ola and that should allow Zach to be maybe even as dangerous or more dangerous than he was because he was really feeling it in that first half which was a huge development considering the way the Hamilton game went for 58 and 3 5 minutes and 30 seconds yeah yeah exactly um and yeah I I I think that this team I I I like the way that the offense played in that first half like I mean outside of the outside of the the interception which wasn't a good one obviously um but I like the way they responded to early to the first two and out uh and then I like the way that they responded to uh the interception and then they responded after that too so um I I think this offense is starting to come together and having Drew larsi back certainly helps um and yeah if you didn't get that run game going um it it changes everything with this team because it just depletes a defensive line right and and we've seen it time and time again where where where where Brady will just jam it down the throat and and and that's and that's what they do and and they do it really good job of it it's punishing it's downhill um and and it really beats up up and and if you can do it on extended drives and that's what the thing you know one of the things the bombers were able to do they had some good pretty good you know nine8 n Play drives in that game um and and so you know if you can if you can run the ball more a little more incorporate that um yeah I think it's good for them but I like the bombers chances this weekend especially if they're a little bit healthier um we'll see how it goes but they were playing really well in that first half um when they got it going and they built up a you know a 295 lead in all that noise and all that I think it could be even better here when it's you know it's as loud here uh with Trevor Harris Under Center there um we uh Scott bcks with us uh from the wheg Sun as we uh look ahead to the rematch the banjo Bowl bombers are now uh it was two and a half yesterday bombers are now threo favorites in this game and I uh you know I seen a lot of people in chat just I was kind of bring up I wonder how many ryer fans are coming out for the game um you know Alex house says most Ryder fans my buddies talked to said they wanted to come but it sold out so fast they couldn't get tickets and Joey pank said that there not be that many because the banjo bable was sold out in early June unless they were jumping on those tickets um it it is such a special day and the thing is and we're so spoiled right now I I I think with the success that the team has had and the job they've done turning it into the biggest party In The City Anytime the Blue Bombers are playing with the support because the crowds even early on in the season when the team wasn't playing particularly well they were still showing out but the chaos around the banjo bow is second to none in Winnipeg and the only thing they could really compare to is the Labor Day classic and that's yeah I'm sure what uh Jerry maslowski and the Gang thought of 20 years ago when they were putting this up after a very Infamous comment to the media by our pal Troy Westwood but um it was so neat and Regina just like all the rider fans and the bomber fans getting together and uh you know I know there's an event I think tomorrow night at fins for CFL and bomber fans that are in for the game beforehand and it will be a zoo you know just while we're on the CFL obviously a massive game for Winnipeg and Saskatchewan I mean if the bombers can win this game they'll essentially be up two on saskat because they have that tie the Friday night game to me and listen I'm going to be watching the gold eyes I'm going to be keeping my eye on the Packers and Eagles I'm also going to be paying close attention to what's going on with BC and Montreal because this is probably the toughest although BC's done well traditionally traveling all the way to Montreal you're playing the best team in the league who's coming off of a buy with a lot of pressure I mean Nathan Brook passed the test big time last week you're moving up a weight class or two going up against Montreal and again if Montreal was able to win this game and the bombers could win they would in a lot of ways have a strangle hold on the E on the west with basically a two- game lead on both Saskatchewan and BC with only five games remaining in the schedule yeah huge weaken and the bombers will know Saturday what you know what's at stake for them right I mean obviously they knew last week first place was at stake outright now it can be outright by you know a two-point lead um with a game in hand essentially right and the season Series against BC as Derek Taylor pointed out last week the season series against Saskatchewan isn't that big of a deal because unless you're ends in a tie right if the bombers end in a tie at some point then it would come into play but that's you know it's unlikely right we don't see you know the the these ties very often so but you know at the same time yeah it's a huge game you know you expect Montreal to come out in that game we'll see what Nathan R can do I mean he obviously had his you know we'll call his Breakout game in his return last week um it it looked pretty easy for him I watched you know a large chunk of that game um the night before and yeah he he was playing really well um but we'll see what he can do against a team that just comes at you in waves the way that the Montreal allets can great team great offense great defense they have it all um you know the bombers don't really have to worry about Montreal until the playoffs if that if that's the case um but you would like them do a bit of a favor if you're you know if they the bombers you'd like them to take care of business bebc this just helps the bombers chances and yeah you you said it before in in your in your Preamble there and I was just like it's so crazy to me that the bombers started out of 0 and4 and then they got to two and six and now we're at you know we don't this Labor Day is not the halfway point of the season but it's sort of The Unofficial one right um and it's where things sort of start picking up and now the bombers are in first place with a chance this weekend to potentially have a two-point lead on on on the division with the tiebreaker against the team that would stay in second place so yeah it's what what a season and and what a turnaround from the bombers and the way that they it haven't done it you know it hasn't been pretty almost any time right um but they've found a way to sort and Brady Olivera talked about this a ton earlier on in the season but having to embrace that grind and man that they had to embrace that grind uh over these they lost some really close games earlier in the season and they've been finding ways to win those close games now and that is the traits of a championship football team they didn't look like one for the first month and a half they're looking more and more like one right now and I mean again a huge test Saskatchewan is going to be riled up ready to go and and a real desperate team because you know for all intents and purposes I mean it wouldn't be official but this is their only other chance to get back at the bombers bombers have two games against Edmonton and then three games against the East if they want to be in the mix for winning the West if they want to you know be very comfortable for the playoffs they got to get it done because if they don't you've got Edmonton you've got Edmonton potentially just a single point back y behind them on the tie um and I believe they play again later on this year so and one other thing that's actually really nice for the bombers that you know is just the benefit of the schedule both Winnipeg and Beast have to go to Montreal BC is doing it this week the bombers do it in week 21 the final week of the regular season and it's hard not to imagine the aletes being in a position where they've already clinched the East which might mean the backups are out for that game um but who knows maybe the bombers will be in a similar position by then we the thing I don't know like if their defense can play as good as it did last year they got Derk Henry at at running back now we'll see if Derrick Henry is going to you know kind of fall off a cliff is the thing with I've never I've never really liked the whole idea of having like a a really good running back and and also a a quarterback that also runs a ton like Lamar Jackson I guess you can call it a dual threat um you know I'm not a huge you know X's an old guys when it comes to football so maybe it makes sense but I like to see Lamar Jackson throw a bit more tonight oh it's so I don't know man I I don't know what do you like do you think the Chiefs have it again like are they better this year than last year yeah I mean you know I think they went through such a tough time offensively last year and much like we've seen with the bombers they found ways to win their games when they weren't at their best right they got better and listen they have a championship level defense like early on in mahomes's career part of the reason why I jumped on him like when he won the MVP at 40 to1 in the first year is like okay if this team is going to be good they're going to have to put up 45 a game because their defense absolutely sucks they completely turned that around Steve spagnol and the job that he's done with them the way they've drafted a lot of guys coming out of all the draft Capital they got from Tyreek Hill has made them a much more complete team and now they've added Hollywood Brown and worthy to that receiving core and it should be a little bit more anyways it's going to be a fun way to get things going and then tomorrow we got the Packers and the Eagles as well heading into a Super Saturday with three CFL games including the banjo bowl and then the late I'll take the Chiefs this year I don't want to see it happen but I do want to see it happen right like it's one of those it's a it's a double bind I guess man if Taylor can win rings in her first two years in seeing a little bit of Steam on them we're seeing some steam on the Ravens as well I think a lot of people are really buying the hype that this is one of the best well-rounded teams in the National Football League we'll get a true test here as I think two teams that are are when you look at on paper look The rosters are probably two of the better teams um you know besides that again the Jets are a team especially from that division standpoint like you said a lot of people are really buying the hype of this Jets team not just because of Rogers but look what they were able to do last year without really any competent quarterback play um so if Rogers is able to stay healthy I think a lot of people do believe that this is a team that certainly uh can win their division that can win the AFC and ultimately uh the Super Bowl uh besides that that seems to be most of the Plucky teams uh we're seeing this year a kind of a spread all over the place there is a a lot of different bets um but those are probably the most popular the ones that we have the most risk on uh and and again that's just preseason we'll see a lot of action especially with the sharp betters um once maybe a team starts out a little bit slower than we've anticipated let's say the 49ers maybe don't start quite on time like we do if Chris mcaffrey maybe he is uh used a little sparingly because we're hearing rumbles that maybe he's not fully healthy if they lose a couple of games and their price starts to creep up that's where we'll see some of those sharp betters jump on those lines so it's great to get your preseason bets in but if there isn't really something that jumps out on you right away just wait wait for your opportunity pick your spots there'll always be an opportunity to sprinkle some money on a Super Bowl winner what um uh what about MVP you know and and we like when you've been on with me we've spent a lot of time on the lock shop um you know talking about it's kind of amazing Lamar won it last year and he's all the way down at 17 to1 but I do sort of subscribe to the fact that there there is some fatigue a little bit with momes with Lamar Aaron roders a couple years ago that did win backto back and often when we get young QBs that not only have brilliant Seasons but help their team really Ascend and take the next step they get a lot of steam when it comes to those MVPs that's part of the reason why I'm so high on Jordan love and love the value of him at 14 to1 um you I think you know in the scenario that the Packers win the NFC North and have you know potentially a top two seed in the NFC if they can do that Gordon love has a monster season and gets a ton of support for that um but man CJ Stroud 9 to1 he was kind of the story of last year and was in the mix as well where have people been coming in when it comes to MVP so far is there one or two guys that sort of stand out as whether being risk or just very very popular for this award yeah popular one certainly you mentioned it in CJ Stout I think what you saw from last year a lot of people anticipate that the Texans aren't going to have any sort of of uh of step back you know they added to their roster uh getting Stefon Diggs into that that lineup tank Dell as a full season a lot of people really high on him as well so CJ stad certainly a popular bet Joe burrow as well uh and for good reason if he can stay healthy he's going to be in that conversation no doubt I think he opened up closer to about 12 to one he's now down to 10 to to one and and you already did mention that Jordan love uh but again I think that was closer to about 16 to one we've seen some steam come on there and of course the king Patrick Mahomes uh you talk about the fatigue fatigue I think there is a lot of fatigue when it comes uh to uh Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes but the fact of the matter is if Mahomes goes out this year lights the world on fire I think it's hard not to to give this guy the most valuable player award so uh him sitting at 525 for me personally a little bit low when it comes to an award that you know a season long award but man he's the best player in football why not like there's a chance that if they rip off you know they go in their first five games end up being Five-0 or four- one that number is going to be sliced in half before you know it so this might be the time to jump on it this may not that's that's kind of the that's why they call it gambling that's why you take a risk so me personally I think if they start out hot which I do believe they will uh this is pro this is probably their toughest Challenge on their schedule uh in their upcoming games if you believe Patrick Mahomes can do it if you think that the Chiefs aren't taking a step back then why not sprinkle it at 525 let's get to this game tonight uh game one of the season for momes and and I I will say this when it comes to MVP one thing that definitely is in mahomes's favor I mean the Chiefs are basically on Prime Time two out of every three weeks so everyone's going to see this I mean often you'll have a guy that kind of emerges as a candidate that's playing on some team that's in the freaking noon slate for the first eight weeks of the Season like strad was last year and all of a sudden you're like oh wait a second this guy's really good but you know people haven't seen it they've just seen the numbers everyone is going to see the Chiefs um with the amount that they're on Prime Time here's how we're looking right now and this money line shifted a little bit during the lock shop actually the Ravens were plus 125 they're now up to plus 131 on the money line the Chiefs are minus 143 and the line is at three although pretty close to even money for the Chiefs if you're taking it a little bit more juice on the Raven side of things and the total in this game 46 a half Pat I've got a little raise the banner three leer that I'll get to in a minute but U just thoughts on this game so far the opening week matchup between the Ravens and the Chiefs who of course saw each other last year in the AFC playoffs I really really think that the odds makers have nailed this spread with three like I think this is a game that comes down to a game-winning field goal we'll get to field goals in a little bit I'm sure as we've been waiting so long to place a particular bet I I know you would be and so am I I that's why where're when you look look at the number I think if you're just looking to bet I think you go the money line unless you're okay with swalling a little bit of juice here and and betting because if you want CH way the two and a half the two and a half if you want Kansas City at two and a half it's minus 112 it's not bad at all and the and this is a great number I mean I don't think you're going to see this anywhere else and the Ravens for that part of it plus 104 so I mean a real tight margin and I mean it's minus 104 on either side of the total too so um very very nice line you know compared to what you'd see Elsewhere for for the game and that's the way I'm playing it at the two and a half I'm totally with you I mean I think this game could absolutely come down to a field goal maybe a fourth field goal of the game so uh if I'm taking Kansas City on the spread I'm definitely going to do it at 2 and 1/2 at minus 112 as opposed to a little bit better of a number but at three just because of the likelihood that this could very well be a push yeah that's that's the difficult thing I know history when it comes to the Ravens being underdogs like the the some of these numbers are insane like Harbaugh's record as a dog of three or more points is 25 and 15 it's a covering rate of 62.5 like that is insane Lamar Jackson's only been an underdog 14 times yeah in his career and he's 13- one against the spread he's won 10 of those games outright the only issue here is it's Banner raising night this Chiefs team last year where the team that kind of I guess it is safe to say they slept walk through the regular season for the most part and then started playing their best ball when it mattered the most I don't think that happens this year I think this team is different I think this team you mentioned it is built a little better and they look a little better mission for history that's what I mean so I think really motivated here I think I stay away from a side I think I'm going to really focus in on some bets some prop bets here build a combo card I've already got my my Patty's Prime Time special but if I had to I would probably either go like I said by that point with the Chiefs uh or sorry with with the Ravens and go minus three and a half um and take the juice a little bit because again I just think this is coming down to a field goal or you go with the Chiefs at minus three and uh and maybe you're there at a push I just I just know it I just can see it in my head it's going to be bucker it's going to be Tucker one of these guys lining up a game winning field goal and hopefully for your sake it's Bucker and the chief start one and0 well and you mentioned I mean if you go and click on the game and you know there's you can do receiving props passing props I mean all that stuff's there hit kicking our it it is it is the our favorite bet the prime time over three and a half field goals and it's plus 115 right now we've got two of the best kickers in the game that coaches have no problem sending out in long range to put points up the bar they're going to be so important let's nail that one right off the bat now here's my the raise the banner parly if you go into the exclusives it's under the rise with raise with ride with hus raise the banner Chiefs minus two and a half Xavier Worthy to get into the end zone anytime touchdown in his NFL debut and Isaiah Pacho 10 plus receiving yards you know I was with Josh fre Sam last night who's really you know into he he grinds uh when it comes it he loves the over two and a half receptions for Isaiah Pacho um I was going to put that in and I thought geez you know he could bang that off in one reception uh on a 10 Yer so we just going to take the yardage uh but we got a nice over in the uh yards in one screen pass um no McKinnon no Edwards Air and also perin I don't even is he even dressing like he's listen he he's gonna be a a significant fantasy guy at some point this year uh right out of the gate though it's going to be Pacho good to go in game number one PR's going to take a little while to learn the offense I I'm sure I could see him getting a two or three touches I will say this for for your fantasy guys with Pacho you might get frustrated at times in and around the goal line I wouldn't be surprised if that Carson steel gets some looks but you know like the running backs they still want the rock it's not like Pacho can't get the job done he'll have a big season but I do think those receiving props on him are pretty Juicy tonight and I got to tell you I cannot wait to see Xavier worthy tonight I mean I put him in I think that you know a a big debut for him um is what the Chiefs want and I think it also puts a little bit of heat on rashy Rice not that he's not going to have a big role with this club going forward but when you think about what an idiot he was in the off season you know with everything that happened with all these felony charges for that ridiculous dangerous driving incident um and knowing that he's going to be suspended at some point I think they're going to give worthy every opportunity to get heavily involved early on knowing that at some point probably next year they'll be without rice but also and of course that's before Hollywood Brown even gets into the mix when he comes back from injury he was banged up in the preseason so uh man it it is uh it is such a fun day and listen the fact that we go back to back like this Eagles Packers game tomorrow in Brazil is another just I mean amazing matchup huge questions exciting questions I think for both teams I'm not high on Philly I'm very high on Green Bay others are completely opposite but that's the beauty of week one Pat and then of course we show up in the lock shop on Monday or Tuesday afterwards going all the things we thought in the off season were completely wrong and that's why I always suggest to people even though you're you'd love to have him out there um you know he had that big punt return late which was another key kind of play Under The Radar that helped the bombers win that football game but Stanley Bryant I mean again he is such a pillar of this team and they got it done without him credit to the guys that were in there um but man they really do need him back and pushing forward and I mean maybe they've given themselves a luxury with the games that they've won that they can give him a little bit of extra time um but I will say the fact that you know Micha o Shay said about this time last week that they expected him to play on Saturday the fact that he's doubtful right now Remis is has to be concerning yeah um you know usually has you know by Thursday if you know you're not practicing you may not be in definitely encouraging you know Zach cl's full status no questions there but uh Stanley Bryant you know he had was carried off what two weeks ago last week they thought he was going to be ready and maybe thought he'd be ready this week but uh limited yesterday did not practice today maybe he was at a setback or something but doubt so sounds like he's not going to return and yet this isn't just anyone this is a guy that had never missed a game due to injury in the nine years he'd been here yeah like you know the only times he hadn't played is when the team had wrapped it up and they were sitting some of the regulars like in the final week of the season um so listen fingers crossed and positive thoughts to Stanley he's not ruled out uh but he is his status right now was doubtful along with Stanley Bryant Patty newfeld second day of a full participant Practice still listed as questionable uh that goes the same with Brian Cole at linebacker practice both days that's important because Adam big hill is out um and Zach keros uh there is no question about Zack keros his game status is available so uh eight will be back as qb1 behind Center uh and great news about Patty Newfield even though he's a questionable I think with two days of practice the expectation is that he will play and um you know a a minimum getting Pat back for the banjo Bowl will be a nice boost but you know both Pat and Stanley could be out there I think that bodess very very well for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers but we'll we'll wait and see um and we'll touch base on the bomber be
