Winnipeg Blue Bombers return to practice, Brady Oliveira joins, NHL Offer Sheets

e e this is Winnipeg Sports Talk daily with Andrew Hustler Patterson and Michael Remis hey what's up everyone welcome to uh another edition of Winnipeg Sports Talk daily and I know this time early to mid August sometimes it's kind of slow waiting for some hockey news we've got a ton to get to today we've got a double offer sheet in the National Hockey League St Louis Blues trying to pick the pockets of the Edmonton Oilers and we've got some of the biggest news in the Canadian football league in recent history jocking breaking news this morning that Nathan RoR has signed again with the British Columbia Alliance is going to be at practice tomorrow and could very well start against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday we'll get all over that um speaking of the bombers Kenny Lawler back at practice today which is great news and Brady Ola coming up on the program a little later on in the second hour of the show so uh we've got so much to get to we are gonna have Mark Zino jump on um get Z's thoughts on the upcoming FedEx Cup playoffs but more importantly the President's Cup coming to Montreal then Ken Wee's going to jump in and we're really focus in on you know a some interesting comments from Scott arneal yesterday uh over with the fellas on OB but we'll also get into Ken's thoughts and to how the Edmonton Oilers navigate and manage potentially losing one or both of Philip broberg and Dylan Holloway so uh it's going to be a busy one today great to have you all with us shout out to everybody in chat everybody listening on the podcast of course to all our sponsors and it doesn't end there Jeff and I because Michael's taken a couple days off we're playing planning on doing CFL 110 today so we were recording it before the show it will debut right after Winnipeg sports talk today and thank God we had a little bit of a technical snafu for the first 10 minutes because we would had to start all over again because it was just after 10: a.m. that this Nathan work news and we're going to get to that right in off the top um but don't forget right after the show today CFL 110 is live brought to you by our friends at garage living Winnipeg give our pal Pac canooga call for more information and maybe a chat on what they can do to revolutionize your garage at triple 91234 also want to thank all the sponsors that make the show happen each and every day Princess Auto Kolb Canada Canadian Club wallison Wallace F apparel Manitoba battery rley transfer Consolidated Supply Boston Pizza the beer candle next door in hog boys Royal Sports Little Brown Jug Breezy Bend a c boy of downs Akens Lake Wilderness Lodge the Winnipeg gold eyes who are back at home tonight starting a home stand in first place and of course we'll get to a why not question of the day for not Auto Corp over Waverly and mcgilvery all right let's get Michael Reis in here and get this show on the road ream um I know you were up late last night worrying what the hell we were going to talk about today uh those fears were unfounded man there's a lot of interesting stuff to get to today on the program yeah I was really worried Olympics are over is having some major withdrawal I was like what what's going to happen I know the bombers were returning to practice so that was good but woke up to a double offer sheet I was like whoa okay and then we're getting ready to record CFL 110 so stay tuned to here we'll do a self raid on you and Jeff and right as we're about to hit record uh Nathan roor uh signs with BC and that was after yesterday's show us where Jeff's like no no no this isn't gonna happen we've had Dave Naylor on too a couple weeks ago talking say hey Nathan's focused on on the NFL you know taking advantage of whatever opportunity but when you get cut twice you don't get claimed on waivers you know BC's got an injury of quarterback the gray cup is there it seemed like a good chance for him to jump P at getting you know playing and getting some actual you know play on tape after uh lackluster performance with Atlanta uh over the weekend so uh very exciting however what is more scary is that oh first game for BC Sunday uh Nathan RoR if he plays would be against the Blue Bombers so there is a local tie-in there as well as we count down to the bombers return from the buy well that's that I me that's what makes this story here in Winnipeg not much more bananas is that we might see Nathan R under center for the BC Lions on Sunday so we're GNA get into all of this shout out to everyone in chat people are already popping off do have to congratulate the son of Durk the big winner yesterday in our special Marble Race to uh send one of our cool betters whove been betting on the CFL and sending in their picks to the Labor Day classic so congratulations to Mr Dirkson on that very popular guy in chat right now I must note after his big win yesterday and uh I did see scardy just drop in a a question what would wst do cgob tendered an offer sheet for Remo and RAB listen it would take it would take absolutely no time to match those offers immediately um I'm not sure they're in a position to be uh raiding wst right now like the St Louis Blues are we're we're not in the same cap situation that the Oilers are we're not as vulnerable we're not as vulnerable as Edington is um listen we'll get to that in a minute but let's I mean listen the story today is Nathan RoR and no you nailed it Remo we said yesterday and I joke with Dusty on the lock shop that hey we're in the take business you know it's Sports Talk talk it is opinions uh and you don't always get it right very rarely will I have a whiff or we will collectively have a whiff like we did yesterday afternoon talking about this Nathan R situation um and I'm not sure whether it was just the three for 13 numbers that he put up passing on the weekend in his opportunity in Atlanta I was surprised that he signed with Atlanta in the first place considering they've got Kurt Cousins there on a big money deal they just drive drafted Michael Pennock eighth overall which made everybody scratch their heads I mean of all places that seemed like almost the worst spot to try to go in and earn opportunities to play in the regular season in the in the National Football League but I mean we'll find out and we'll hear more about this tomorrow Remo when he speaks after practice but this young man is too good of football player to be spending another season on practice rosters waiting for phone calls um listen it doesn't rule out his NFL dream as well I mean if he comes back to the Canadian football league for the next two seasons after this and goes crazy we've seen Doug fluty go back later on in his career um but right now it seems like he wants to play and we did say I mean he has that connection with the BC Lions but also thought that VA was on his way to potentially an MLP season how does that work this year well we're going to find out because Vernon Adams is injured Nathan works at practice tomorrow and uh I'm not sure that Vernon Adams in Winnipeg two weeks ago getting shut out isn't the last time he starts this season in the Canadian football league if you can believe that it's a crazy situation and I'll say this about Nathan roor I you know I loved watching him uh carve up defenses a couple years ago H I would take him every week on draftings I'd stay up late watching him put 50 Burgers on Edmonton or whoever in the dome uh it was so awesome I love though you know rest in peace Saturday night late games CFL and like I'd still be watching him blow out whatever team trying to rack up as many fantasy points as I can so I have very fond memories of Nathan roric and uh faran uh TSN and Chris Edwards of TSN putting out some of the contract information we don't have a a cap friendly or a pck pedia for CFL unfortunately so we're relying on on the Insiders farand reports it is a three-year deal for Nathan RoR through 2026 and he's likely to play Sunday vers BC I forget if we said that he followed that up just before we went live saying he'll make 250,000 the rest of the season and will be the highest paid player in the CFL in 25 or 26 somewhere north of 600,000 uh RoR does not believe his or sorry he does not believe r's interest in the NFL is over and then faran also says don't expect Vernon Adams to go anywhere this season as for the off season at least six teams would be interested you can you know try and guess and then Chris Edwards producer for TSN he says Veron Adams contract goes through 2026 500,000 fully guaranteed in 25 half of that or half of 55,000 guaranteed in 2026 so a move for Vernon Adams likely in the off season it seems like y's taking a bit of a pay cut here maybe you could you know try to hang around like the Vikings quarterback that they drafted he just got hurt maybe they would look to bring someone in but you know do you want to do that song and dance us where you're doing work like you didn't get claimed you're doing workouts you're going on practice rosters you're going off you know you had one look this year and it didn't go that well maybe you are better off going in a familiar offense like BC you know familiar place again hosting the gray cup is a pretty high profile maybe it does coat for him to go to the NFL after but you know at some point you just want to play and maybe there are more off field opportunities here we'll see what happens I mean he hasn't played in a long time we'll have to see how he comes in you know his first game if it is suay against the bombers who just shut out BC or another uh another team so uh fascinating what's going on oh yeah the west division hus uh completely up in the air as I go to the buffet here uh some I saw someone tweet out you know for power rankings this week okay number one BC or number one Montreal number last team yeah last team Hamilton the rest I don't know roll a dice flip a coin seems like everyone uh could beat anyone at this point so w very Wide Open West Division neither BC or saskat On's won a game in like a month I mean they both haven't won in their last three outings and obviously the Riders had that Bizarro tie with all the chaos of the command Center which will get to on CFL 110 after Winnipeg sports talk today but you're exactly right I mean you know who the hottest team in the west is bombers Edmonton they won two in a row Edmonton is won two in a row that's where we're at right now the bombers had that big win but that was coming off of two straight losses Calgary just you know you can tell whether they're going to win or lose by whether they're playing at home or on the road every week it's actually the Edmonton Elks they've got a two- game winning streak um and I mean Edmonton is in last with two wins and BC or S scaton I guess technically is in first with five wins BC has five wins as well so I mean you're right it is completely wide open um the bombers are very much back in it I'd say the Elks are back in it we were actually going through the Edmonton Elks schedule when we were talking about the Elks in the lock shop today and uh they've got a home and home with the with stamps on Labor Day in the following week the week we refer to as banjoo weekend here in Winnipeg then they've got a home in home with the bombers and they've got a weak 19 game against Calgary so Edmonson still has five games head-to-head against Winnipeg and Calgary so they're absolutely in this right now and the bottom line with BC like they looked so deadly at the beginning of the Season they've really regressed I mean they're not the same team and it goes without saying no team is the same without their starting quarterback but man they didn't look anything close to the VA team with doag Gala and to be honest they didn't look anything close to the VA team with VA against the bombers the week before I do think we can safely say though that Nathan and Nathan roor and the return to BC completely flips the script on this season um and listen BC making a big push they are hosting the great cup I think they really liked where they were through five or six weeks not so much over the last three injury issue for VA so you make the deal and you get Nathan RoR in it's amazing for the Canadian Football League like let's just stand outside of this game this weekend which is I'm sure gonna get a few more eyeballs on the tube on Sunday night um this is great for the league I mean you know he was such a great Ambassador for it such an exciting player sold a lot of tickets out in BC um and you know we all hoped that he could fulfill his potential as as a quarterback you're going to go to the NFL you're getting signed great well it's great Until you realize what's conspiring against a guy like roor to get a legitimate opportunity and if that's not going to happen get this guy on a football field and uh I'll tell you what if it's Sunday I'm here for it and what a great test that'll be and it'll just add that much more to this bombers Lions game on Sunday night somewhat unfortunate that this game wasn't maybe on Friday because I don't think he's starting if he shows up at practice you know for the walk through but the fact that this is a Sunday game they're starting practice tomorrow everything on the table right now for this one and uh tell you what it's uh Earth shaking news in the Canadian football league but uh big big news for BC who now has two of the best quarterbacks in the entire league both on their roster one is healthy without a ton of practice time but it looks like he's going to be in on Sunday and that did not seem even remotely possible yesterday when we were doing the show yeah well and I think the bombers would have something to say about having two of the best quarterbacks I mean hey Chris TR I mean Chris zalo has one mops one great cups I think they're why didn't say the two I said two of the best I mean I think for sure Vernon Adam is one of the best quarterbacks in the League this year and who are we joking Nathan roor immediately becomes one of the best quarterbacks so yeah it is quite a luxury I didn't think that was possible to have both of those guys together within the cap but obviously he's taken a little bit less I presume it's pro-rated so he's going to be getting some money but most importantly for RoR he's going to be getting some playing time and that certainly uh you know changes I think a lot we've already seen the line move it was three for the bombers before it's now down to one and basically a pick him on the money line and I wouldn't be surprised if that maybe goes the other way BC could be a favorite by the time that we kick off if Nathan roor is the starting quarterback for the bombers side of things though they've beaten Nathan roor before in big games um and they're getting some help too as I mentioned right off the top Remo great news today in practice Kenny Lawler back on the field with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and they basically been playing without Kenny Lawler and Dalton shown for the entire season both guys injured in the first couple weeks you're not getting shown back but man Zach keros is gonna have a big smile on his face today at practice knowing the 89 is back out there yeah and the bombers yeah I don't think they're scared or intimidated of anyone they've played Nathan R before they've beat Nathan RoR and uh I I think it is very exciting for the CFL to have that type of player back in the league and uh that that is certainly the Marquee game this week now uh Sunday night CFL football 6 PM bombers lions and yeah you know we thought this was going to happen and there he is back on the field after being injured was a week one uh Kenny Lawler back in practice very exciting for Zack Claris not sure what that means for Lucky Whitehead we'll have to wait and see what happens and some other players in gear according to Ed Tate celest and habba defensive end and receiver Carrick wheatfall hus who had a pretty good game uh that before getting hurt I don't think Ontario Wilson is you know I think he's in he's his spot's good but uh who is it Josh Johnson in there you know what happens there uh we'll have to see how the depth chart shakes out moving forward but positive news that Kenny Lawler back although lucky Whitehead man he had such a great game so interested to see how this all shakes out well I can't wait to talk to Brady uh later on today on the program um we'll see how the Nathan R news resonated around bomber practice when the guys got the pads off today this afternoon um but again they're looking forward to going against the BC defense so I'm not sure Brady have too much to say on that we will check in with Brady Oliva though later on today as the bombers are back to pet practice after an extended bye their first of the season now looking to make it two in a row against the BC Lions on Sunday Monday night um the other big news we're really dive into this with Ken double offer sheet from St Louis to Edmonton Philip broberg and Dylan Holloway I've signed offer sheets with the St Louis Blues now the numbers right now and I've got puckpedia up the Dylan Holloway number is a two-year deal at 4.58 it works out to 2.29 457 so just under 2.3 million uh just barely under the threshold where the compensation goes up so the hallway compensation if the orders do not match is a third is a third rounder Philip broberg signed a two-year deal at 9161 aav of 4.58 917 which is just under the threshold for a second round pick uh to go up so essentially if the Oilers don't match these contracts brover and Holloway are with the blues for two years uh and then under team control and the total cap hit is just under $7 million if you pull up puckpedia right now with those contracts on the Oilers books the projected cap space is7 .225 million so Jeff Jackson their new GM Stam Bowman remember him they have a lot of work to do to figure out how this works and I just spent probably 20 minutes talking about it with Dusty who uh needless to say spent their entire morning on Edmonton Sports Talk talking about this pretty much uh it is a real precarious situation and now for all the lotting of the deals that the Oilers made in the off season now they're wondering well wait a second did we need Victor arson for 4 million bucks a year did we really need Jeff Skinner at three million bringing back Cory P Perry at over a million dollars if we were going to lose our two legitimate talented young players in the process uh I don't know how they keep both of these guys remas unless they make a trade involving a player making a significant amount of money yeah Dylan hallay drafted round one 14 overall in 2020 Philip robberg down drafted round one eight overall in 2019 imagine you know investing drafting those players broberg 23 Holloway 22 and losing them potentially I don't want to say for nothing because you get compensation but have the blues come in and just snipe them on you like that and good for the blues you want to see that you want to see teams use resources available to them like the off it's a really nice welcome to the back to the league Stan Bowman when the blues come in and say hey we're going to try to steal these guys and I mean I don't know what negotiations were like with Holloway and broberg and the Oilers but it seemed like the broberg one you know maybe that's the one you let go it's more money he's lower on the depth chart um and you you keep hallway very tough to keep both one thing to look into Evander Kane his cap hit 5.125 million there's talk about you know is he going to need to go on ltir with his injuries would that open up some cap space not enough for both of them but you would get some relief there so they have seven days to match the clock is on I don't know what on amonton Sports Talk are they just gonna have like a timer at the top for the next week just counting counting down and you know we hadn't seen too many offer sheets it was I saw David pagata at the fourth period on X going through us and he what he listed what the Cami one which they gave up a first and a third uh that's big comp that was big compensation I don't think and they traded what the first to the coyotes for Christian Dvorak so I don't think that deal worked out for anyone in the end but this isn't like huge and the most notably the blues had to reacquire their own 2025 second round pick from Pittsburgh this morning to do the offer sheet yeah because yes the compensation for broberg I mean the Oilers would get a second round pick for their former eighth overall selection and Holloway would be a third round pick and they were very smart by giving them the maximum amount of money just before the next threshold so really well done by Doug Armstrong did Protege Alex Steen have a hand oh yes Al good point learning on the job learning on the job and I again I like this you want to see GM be more Cutthroat try to improve their team and does Edmonton clap back at them on like Jake neighbors or someone else in the future so uh it's great to have some hockey news here mid August yeah no doubt about that listen we'll get to it more we we pop back in Ken weebs coming up we'll talk football with Brady Oliva but uh we're GNA get into uh a little bit of golf talk for a few minutes with the zman looking ahead to the President's Cup and of course the FedEx Cup playoffs but as we mentioned talked about Nathan R right off the bat the huge news he's back in been very very busy but I so pumped to have him back looking ahead to the FedEx Cup playoffs and of course the President's Cup it is the zman himself Mark Zino how's your summer been pal great to have you back on the show too long guys sorry for being so difficult to get a a rope around it's been a crazy busy summer as you guys can imagine um but you know I I know we're going to talk some golf but I thought we'd want to touch on Summer Slam first uh I've got my ners have contract issues with Trent Williams Brandon iuk and I hear at some point the morrow Austin Matthews is going to get a c put on them so I mean we got lots to get into guys there there's no doubt about it yeah still I mean listen Roman Reigns back SummerSlam I mean wrestling folks this is uh this has been fun I think we kind of expected a lot of what's happened but uh now the blood when's the Rock G to be back are we gonna see Roman and The Rock Z man that that's what I really want to know for the upcoming few months I don't you think we get them in h Vegas next year at some point and don't you think yeah and I think we get a bloodline one vers bloodline 2 starting at Survivor series and we just go right through to uh to Vegas is my guess you know what it's kind of funny you mentioned bloodline one bloodline two um it is in some ways a bit analogous to the President's Cup two big Crews going head-to-head on that and that's a real Focus to me but just before we get to that um just thoughts on the season overall it was the season of Scotty then it was Xander taking over um Scotty with that incredible I mean we just finished up the Olympics I mean the back nine if he needed to do anything to barge back in the conversation to remind everyone who the best player on Earth was he did it exactly that at the hands of John ROM who's on the other end of that very disappointing season ugly choke in the Olympics what are your big takeaways from the season so far as we head into the playoffs yeah it's interesting you know for me it was always the year Scotty with all due respect to Xander shafley because two majors in one season is incredible you know that's a guy that coming into 2024 we all likely would have agreed that Xander shafley was best player in the world currently without a major looking at what he's been able to accomplish over his career how close he's gotten in majors and a guy still in their Prime not talking about a guy like a you like a we a lead Westwood or a colum Montgomery not talking about about players historically that have had great careers and were unable to get it done you know Xander was still you know in the conversation heading into every single major as a favorite so to get the monkey off your back get it done twice to me that's exceptional two wins two majors on the year uh well done to Xander shafley but and my big butt is regardless of that for me it was always the year of Scotty sheffler I mean he's got one and a half Majors won the Masters he won the PLAYERS Championship that's kind of almost a major so I give him one and a half majors and then you take a look he's got four victories against incredible Fields he's not out there winning the Sanderson Farms Championship you know he's he's out there winning beill uh murfield these These are Signature Events against the best fields in golf six wins now a gold medal uh he's the player of the year and he's likely gonna add another Victory somewhere along the playoffs you know does he win a FedEx Cup possibly you know I don't see why you would bet against him at the moment but the stand up for me is really you know the years Scotty sheffler we had some great golf in majors and to your point we had some epic chokes with John ROM Rory mroy it was a real bizarre year for golf um well I go to ask you about those two guys how does Rory get over what happened at the US Open how long do you think that's gon to take because he didn't really compete at all after that and I mean what are your thoughts on this season for John Rah the one guy that's Happy is his accountant maybe his wife he doesn't seem too happy though he's got half a billion dollars but not a lot to show for it when it comes to his game on the biggest stage it's a Lost season for Rah he had a chance to somewhat save it with a gold medal but it's a completely lost year for Rah you know he he was verbally uh suggesting in multiple media conferences this year including the Open Championship and the Olympics he going into that he said it's been a it's been a very difficult year for he and his family you know I want like I want you to think about this this is 500 million deep second child on the way right uh he's a father he's healthy yet it's been a very difficult year I really think John Rah I I've used this term on the air before I I feel like his golf soul is dead you know the Spaniard s uh typically used to play a lot for you know for the spirit of sevy and the history of the game and you know to leave the PGA tour in the middle of your Prime to go play on what is an exhibition tour of 54 holes where you really get four cracks a year at something that means something and this year with a gold medal he had five cracks at it uh I I think it's really hard for John R I think it's been tough on his psyche tough on his emotions I think when he took the 500 million he thought there would be a deal done already and a pathway back to the tour he was wrong he might have been lied to by many people he wouldn't be the first person that was lied to likely by uh certain people within the Liv golf family uh you know shame on you they've been lying since the beginning uh all the original people that went were told that they were G to have World Golf Ranking points and all these things that that never happened so I think John ROM's having a real hard time with it um will he be able to do what kka did you know or what Des Shambo has done I mean those are the only two players that jumped took the money and somehow were able to put enough work in away from the golf course at home to be able to keep that edge stay relevant stay in the game two people the the rest of them have been absent so it'd be curious to see John Rob at the peak of his power is 2024 is is it a one-off or is this now the rest of the way for John ROM until or if we get a an agreement in place between live golf PJ tour DP World Tour Etc so uh yeah it's been interesting to see hard to watch if you're a John ROM fan but uh hey nothing's for free in life right he got $500 million to to make this choice so I mean it is what it is um yeah I mean like I put cam Smith in that group as well I mean this is a guy that we thought would be you know winning multiple Majors he is bar been in the mix in any of them um and Bryson Bryson's so so fascinating because Bryson not only did he win a major and compete and was arguably I mean inarguably one of the best players on the planet this year although we didn't see him as much as we would like he's the one guy Z that has really flourished in his new spot and listen the really creative and Innovative things that he's doing on YouTube have exploded and pushed his profile to an area that it wasn't before but he's such a weird and wired differently dude it doesn't maybe surprise me that he's the one guy that's actually flourished like this while everyone else has had a real tough time finding their footing and competing the way they used to yeah it's really his approach to the game which is completely unique and completely different that has allowed for what you suggested and I agree with you a th% if there's one there's two people that have stayed relevant I would say kka and dambo but through two very different things or very different ways kka is just to me it's ego driven for kka and I don't mean that in a bad way but just the thought of being irrelevant and the thought of not competing at majors has just made Kea put in the work away from live golf to be able to try to Peak and play in those four big events a year so good on him but for D Shambo I think you're right it it's almost beneficial for Bryson to live setup where I wouldn't say it's beneficial for kka I think K's got to put in way more work to try to Peak four times a year than say d Shambo D Shambo you know nickname you know the mad scientist right he looks at golf as trying to figure out a puzzle trying to solve a problem it's a mathematical scientific equation which is why I think sometimes he struggles a little bit at the open Chan ship if you look at his record at the Open Championship it's not as good as it is in the rest of the majors so one could argue that once you get over and start playing pure linkx golf you kind of have to throw a lot of the numbers in the math and you have to be a painter and you got to see shots different ways and figure out stuff on the ground when to put it in the air and understand the different grasses and it's a more creative process I think and Mother Nature has a lot more to say about it when you get to the open whereas the way Bryson looks at things it's it's very mathematical it's very scientific it's very mechanical and I think the time away from the golf course all that extra time not playing competitive golf has actually allowed Bryson to approach the game the way he really wants to you know I'm going to design my own clubs I want to get the numbers on these shots I want to see what the science is on this vers the science on that that takes a lot of time and that's what he does while he's away from the golf course um so in a way I I think playing less Golf and being you know in that kind of in the in the frying pan so often like like the Rory maroy of the world and the shefflers of the world where you're constantly playing golf that you know means something it's competitive Bryson not having that is almost help him pursue the way he likes to look at this game Mark Zino's with us you can hear him on golf talk Canada and of course PGA Tour radio as well z um as we go into the FedEx Cup playoffs this weekend uh before we talk President's Cup just thoughts on the season of the Canadian players on tour and uh and and short term like right now what our Canadians need to do to continue playing into the uh hopefully all the way to the Tour Championship all right so I'm I'm on my way to Memphis tomorrow uh to kick off the playoffs for for PJ tour radio top 70 on tour you know start at the FedEx St Jude classic and then the top 50 will move to the BMW Championship in Colorado and then the top 30 from there Taylor penth and um Cory Connor are in a really good spot right now you know they're they're in inside top 30 um I believe Connor might be 30 on the button actually not I don't have it in front of me but uh Pen's 27th regardless they're in a good spot to have a tea time in Colorado okay and then after that they're going to they're going to have to keep the pedal down because what's going on here now is you know the point values quadruple so if you got 500 points for a win in the regular season they're now 2,000 points for a victory and that that quadrupling of the points goes right down the board so you need to play well right now but Connor and penth in a really good spot regardless of what happens this week hadwin and Hughes in a decent spot not inside the top 30 yet they're you know inside that 40 number high 30s around low 40s high 30s they need to play okay they need decent weeks and they will likely go to Colorado with some good play all eyes are on Nick Taylor right now I mean clearly the best player on the PJ tour for Team Canada in 2023 um clearly the best player early this year with the win at the WM and then it's been a completely lost summer for Nick Taylor I mean he's got just over 900 FedEx Cup points on the entire season 500 of those came with the victory at the Waste Management Phoenix Open that's back February March and then the remainder of the 400 and change came before that and in last fall he has not made many points this summer he has fallen to 52 on the FedEx Cup points list he was in a top six position for the President's Cup for pretty much the entire year he's tumbled down to 10th Nick Taylor that's who I have my eyes on if you want to know the truth I mean we're all hoping that Nick finds it it has to happen this week if Taylor can get himself to Colorado get that tea time next week at the BMW Championship he puts himself right back in the picture and right back in the movie for Mike we uh on that President Cup team because at the end of next week that that's when this President's Cup team is going to start to really take shape as Bob week said they start getting this the pencil out and they throw that away and they start putting them in in pen it gets real really real next week so you need that tea time in Colorado if you want to be in Montreal well uh and by the way I'll just give your pal Bob a plug I mean I'm so geeked about the President's Cup and I'm G to be there we'll be doing some stuff for Winnipeg sports talk from Montreal that whole week um but Bob on TSN and maybe they've been taking advantage of the fact there's a little bit more air time as a bit slower time but I mean great features on the decisions for the captains for Mike Weir if you could Z man like the President's Cup is the 25th through 29th at the end of September in Montreal Phill Us in on the top six right now when is that when did the top six get confirmed that they're in if that hasn't happened already and at what point will Mike Weir make his decision on the other members representing the international team for the Pres cup so the top six are automatic at the end of the BMW Championship next week so you if you want an auto automatic spot and you don't want to rely on a pick for Mike Weir then that's when it's that's when it's going to happen um the the the the final six picks are going to come the week of the Tour Championship so I if you if we've been actually having this conversation uh most of the year it's it they're not too specific on a date and time with that press conference and when that's coming out so but it will be the week of the Tour Championship the top six right now I don't have them off the top of my head in front of me but I I can tell you deim matama is in that top six Adam Scott is snuck into the top six I believe Jason day is in that top six um I believe sunj m is into that top six so that's that's most of them I'm missing one or two names Tom Kim Tom Kim thank you that's that six name thank you the guys on the outside looking in highest ranked Canadian right now is Cory Connor at eth Cory Connor has not missed a cut this year Corey Connors I believe I don't want to use the word lock because until we get to the BMW Championship I'm not going to use the word lock but I highly believe that Cory Connor is going to be on this team I highly believe Taylor penrith is going to be on this team because although Taylor penth is I believe 13th right now on the list he has played so well over the summer he grabbed that first Victory I kind of like those two Canadians on this team or not my big question is can Nick Taylor stay on this team because for all the entire year he was on this team and the summer has knocked him down the list so can he play well enough this week and next week to put himself back on this team with a pick and does another Canadian shoot up there to make it four because Mike weer said this he's not going to put Canadians on this team for the sake of having Canadians he's going to uh look at look at the numbers listen to his assists and coaches and go and lean towards analytics at at the same time but he said if I have four Canadians playing well there's something to be said to put out two Canadian pairs in front of a home crowd and try to pull that crowd and get them going on Canadian soil I mean President's Cup they've won one in the history of this competition uh which came you know two decades ago over two decades ago at some point you got to try something different doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is not going to do something so let's get that home crowd into this but in order for that to happen I think we need to have if we can get a bunch of Canadians again I hate going back to it but if you can qualify for the top 50 if you could say we've got four Canadians in Colorado that means we have four Canadians that played well enough this week in Memphis against the top 70 on the tour to just toy a tea time in Colorado that right there might give Mike Weir enough ammunition To Go these four Canadians are part of my team um what uh what's the other side going to look like disappointing and for the record I totally get why they have the rules you know with guys that have gone to live I thought it was a little bogus that Des Shambo couldn't play for the states at the Olympics to me that was sort of a different thing and I think he had certainly earned it and they I I'm sure from their perspective they would have loved to have him as opposed to wam Clark but zman I mean Jordan spe Justin Thomas these guys have been the anchors of Team usas in PR cups and Ryder cups for the last Almost decade those guys could be gone I mean how different do you think the USA team is going to look when we get to Montreal I I think it could look a lot different at the bottom to your point I think um the only player that really would have been on this team that's not on this team is Bryson D shamble with all due respect to Brooks kPa you know in a twoe twoyear window point Point cycle and the year that you're currently in the points being he heavier weighted in 24 than they were in 23 Kea really got his Damage Done in in 23 so I think it's Des shambo's the guy who's kind of missing on this team due to the the Liv tour so I think the team is going to look the way it's supposed to minus one body um to your point though there's a lot of Main Stays that this could look very different at the bottom we you know we might we might see a bit of a youth injection here uh we might see names like spe and Thomas not on this team it'll be curious to see um you know Keegan Bradley is an assistant captain on this uh President's Cup team he is a captain of next year's Ryder Cup team and Keegan was kind of you know left out in the cold the last time around on that Ryder Cup he's already added brt snaker as an assistant captain on the Ryder Cup team next year so My in a way I'm almost seeing a gentle slow process Changing of the Guard here by the time we get to next year's wrer cup that might start to your point with some different faces and some different names this year on this President's Cup team we'll have to wait to see who they are we know this the the leaders of This president's compan team are going to be Scotty sheffler Xander shafley wam Clark Patrick kley is probably going to be back in the mix again here Etc one thing I would worry about if I'm Team USA in Montreal and I'm GNA be in Montreal with you I'm gonna be working for TSN I'm gonna be working for PJ tour radios so I'll be Full Slate for seven days I can't wait for it the one thing I'm really kind of curious about and a little worried about worried in air quotations when it comes to Team USA is Let's Play Devil's Advocate and best case scenario here let's say we get four Canadians on that uh President's Cup team we also got crowd favorites like Jason day and Adam Scott on that team so you're gonna have a fired up Canadian crowd who brings the fire on Team USA with all due respect to Scotty sh Sheffer love Scotty sheffler hands down the best player on the planet not exactly a spark plug Xander shafley not exact not exactly a spark pluck uh Patrick kley Etc who's he's a wet blanket yeah who's the guy when you used to think of all the great uh European Rider Cup teams going back over history you knew who they were right you knew sevie bios uh Ian pter right these were the guys that would light the firecracker under the team's butt and kick them when they needed it and they were like emotional leaders in the dressing room where do you get that on Team USA right now I it's been Justin Thomas yeah it has it has he has been one of those guys over the years um we're GNA see I don't know they need to find some of that they do need to find because regardless of how talented they are on paper there are moments in international team competition and golf where you need that you need that spark plug you not once in a while you need that talk in the dressing room things like that and I just don't see it there right now Mark Zino's with us hey Z just on the way out uh don't want to forget the ladies um what' you think of the Olympic competition and Brook Henderson in particular and just thoughts on Brook season Donnie boy mentioning the ladies are going to the old course in a couple weeks will'll be interesting but uh you know we've seen Brooke on some leaderboards but um it doesn't seem like it's been Prime Brooke so far this season no 100% it hasn't and I'm excited as well to see the ladies at the old course that's going to be a treat that's awesome you know I wish we could see the ladies at Augusta National one day and TPC sass one day I think uh a big boost to the LPGA Tour if we could get some events on iconic venues like that but to your point with Brooke you know I've been confused about Brooke all year and she's a victim of her own success because she's so successful she's done so much in in her young career in in a small window where you know we expect a lot but for her to go through a season and not have a win to not have multiple wins or chance to win major is in a way a bit of a lost year for someone is talented with expectations as as much as we put on Brooke um it was kind of weird I don't feel any different about her game exiting the Olympics as I as I did going in did I think she was going to play well yes did I think she was gonna medal I I didn't really have confidence that she would metal so I kind of have her in the same spot I'm looking for her to string together four days show me something figure it out those those loose ends those bad nine-hole stretches that one bad day that kind of keeps her out of it statistically she's doing a lot of things well and she keeps making a bunch of cuts and she keeps finishing decent and golf tournaments but we're not threatening victories on Sunday so I think she needs a big finish to the year to kind of save the year for Brooke um and I'm not too sure what it is uh because again it's you know can we always say can she always putt better of course you know uh clean up the game around the greens sure but I mean there's been some weird ball striking you know B Bob and I have gone through this a couple times on golf talk Canada this year it's like whoa whoa whoa whoa before we pick on our short game guys Brooke hit 10 greens today when she wins she hits 14 and 15 greens so there's something going on here I'm not too sure what it is uh but hopefully she's still got a long way ahead of her lpj has got a lot to play for so hopefully she can can pick it up zman how a safe trip out to Memphis always great to catch up with you and uh hopefully we can chat before but if not I will look forward to seeing you in Montreal at the end of September for the President's Cup should be awesome can't of the day to the chat because this is something Ken and I are going to be talking about and it's about the Edmonton Oilers predicament after getting popped by these two offer sheets today do you think that the Oilers will be able to uh keep both of their players none of their players or one and if so which one let us know in the chat that is today's why not question of the day for not autoc Corp down at Waverly and mcgilvery um we're going to be bringing kenon right now although he's got a very puzzled look on his face right now so maybe I'll uh well let's see I'm here Andrew just it's not picking up my microphone it's just has me through the laptop if uh with our different system for this week interesting I'll give you a call can one sec yeah you just pop out and then uh and then uh Ras will get it fixed up I'm just looking at the chat shiker I love the Oilers in a tough spot hey sorry so click on that first link SK says I think Edmonton keeps both but but broberg is the priority I I just don't know how they do it and and to be honest I mean I guess you would prioritize broberg over hallay but I mean every single dollar counts right now for the Edmonton Oilers and the broberg number is more than $4 and a half million dollar a season which probably is close to2 and a half or $3 million more than what they had been offering it I mean the hallway number at 2.29 certainly easier to get in under the cap although there's still work to be done no but not entirely sure of how how that all shakes up and again if you don't remember the beginning of July when everyone was Laing the Oilers for having the best off season they signed Victor arvidson to four million a year for two years I mean it's a guy that can play great stuff you kept Adam Henrik three million a year for two more Seas Seasons you signed Jeff Skinner for $3 million and you brought back Cory Perry something had to give and it sounds like the other shoot a drop was their old pal Peter Shelli vice president of hockey operations sort of sticking it to the Edmonton Oilers let's see if uh we've got the uh Mike situation figured out Kenny what's up how are you uh Mike cheuck 1212 Andrew great to be with you yeah microphone thinks s it sounds good the headphones not picking up but I can hear you loud and clearly through my computer here so life is good uh great to be with you uh busy day in sports hus considering we weren't expecting a whole lot of activity here uh at this point last night I thought we'd be talking about will Wagner's debut but uh as it turned out I got a little bit of red here I was at the Skyler Park return uh last night and Abby Dent also from the rowing was on that same flight but uh yeah I mean uh great great day in sports let's go let's start there yeah I mean uh yeah just Scotland Park bringing a bronze medal back to the peg what a great story she is I got to tell you H it was one of those things where you know it's a good reminder on Deadline writing um Skylar's flight only got in about 920 and I had to file before or slightly after 10:15 or so yesterday but uh just an incredible scene at the airport there were more than a 100 people probably I used the term roughly because we didn't have time to count but it was just an incredible scene hus I mean the Taekwondo event has been something that's really you know it's a niche sport in some ways but in Manitoba it's pretty big I mean all time Canada has only had three gold medal or three medals from the Olympics in the in the in the sport and two of them were won by Mana Tobin Dominique bosart and now Skyler Park joining that list on the Taekwondo side it was awesome to see because you know there were a ton of kids hus from the from the park academy uh that were some of them in I I don't want to say this incorrectly I'm going to say in full uniform let's say uh which was awesome there were signs being held up there were uh you know great you know some people had flowers some people were waving flags they sang O Canada for her they chanted her name as she made her way down the escalator and uh just an incredible scene overall hust and I'm glad I was on on the scene and uh to report on it and her reaction was just so tremendous h and as soon as she got down at the bottom of the escalator there was tons of friends and family waiting for her and the first thing she did was put the bronze medal around the neck of her grandfather who was the who is a Grandmaster and was one of the you know the first Inspirations along the journey for her so uh just an incredible moment there and it was fun to see people get caught up in the Olympic spirit and you know there's kids there that that may be inspired by Skyler just in sort of the same way that she mentioned to us reporters that John Montgomery inspired her she was in a choir that sang at one of Montgomery's metal metal things around the province and you know she said she got you got to know him over the years and it was just kind of a cool uh you know little bit of a paid forward kind of moment hust and uh like I said great to be on the scene for it and uh you know good honor and now she gets to enjoy her summer uh momentarily not that she hasn't enjoyed it to this point but the dedication it takes to to become an Olympic medalist uh pretty taxing uh on anyone whether you're you know teen teenager 25-year-old uh anything else but uh I also love the fact that when I asked her what was next she was sort of taken a back initially hus but then she made it quite clear that she would like to have another metal uh of a different color uh the next time she rides down that escalator maybe uh four years after Los Angeles Summer Olympics here so and I have to tell you uh that comment brought kind of a wide grin to Father J when I when I passed that along to him afterward because again we we know you got to you got to unplug the you know you got to unplug and recharge the batteries after a moment like that but uh to hear that come out of her mouth so quickly after you know winning this bronze medal I think was probably uh music to his ears also uh we know it's such a family tradition there and her two brothers also and you know Jay was also saying he's hoping that both of them who have been part of the senior National program uh may be along for more than just the supportive Journey next time he's hoping maybe they're competing uh on that stage as well yeah listen Skyler Park we'll look forward to hopefully getting her on at some point in the next few days now that she's back in the peg um as so well spoken hus I mean what a crazy great story but like just unbelievable the the Poise that she you know presented herself with and just the just so wild I mean it's hard to explain you know she's having trouble putting into words but like like the emotion and the and just the outpouring of support from that Community her community as she pointed out I mean it was just you know all the people that have been part of the journey and the most important people to her in her life those who have inspired her trained with her people she's training uh most of them all at that scene at the airport and and then also some people she doesn't know at all who just want to you know get a glimpse of that metal and you know maybe pose for a picture and just way that she you know she's such a gregarious person and beaming from ear to ear and you know pausing to for photos with everyone and you know at at one point uh we kind of relayed to the mother that the Clock Was ticking on the deadlines for some of us um and she's like oh Skyler K quickly do the do the you know six minute interview and and then get back to hugging people but it was just such a great scene and like I said might need new hug they might need a new hug down at the hug got a good workout for sure and and like I said too and also kind of a cool situation I mean we know that canora is not winipeg hus but I mean Lake of the Woods is filled with Manitoba connections as well and you know to see Janine Hansen there you know to meet Abby dent and and the folks from from the rowing side I mean it was kind of like there's a little bit of cross-pollination going on there was so much support for both of these athletes with again one is obviously Manitoba and one has some Manitoba connections and lots of Manitoba supporters but uh just kind of a cool scene to and then you have other people that are you know locals that are walking down and wondering well who's on the plane cuz you know when they boarded the plane uh they didn't know that the Olympians were on it depending on when you boarded right so just kind of a cool scene overall maybe they thought you were there to interview uh to interview them coming off the off the off the phone now listen Skyler we're gonna hopefully get her on um an amazing run at the Olympics I mean you can just tell if you hadn't seen her before just seen the way she conduct in the interviews afterwards special athlete special person million dooll smile and uh that bronze medal will be shining for the next four and uh hopefully four years from now we might be talking about that gold medal um Ken I want to talk to you about the Jets in a second but the big hockey story today was this double RFA signing um what was your first reaction when you saw the news that St Louis had uh had jumped on hallway and broberg from Edmonton in the incredibly tight situation that they're in yeah so interesting hustle a little bit of Double Jeopardy if you will right I mean every summer in the media we kind of speculate on you know oh M no no this will be the summer that there are a host of offer sheets no no no no I'm serious this time it's not just the thread of an offer sheet uh but there there will be multiple and a multitude of them so uh you know when a team uh goes out and and and lays out two offer sheets uh on the same day towards the same team in a you know bold and calculated move uh it gets the attention of the entire Hockey World hust right I mean now everyone's starting to speculate and wonder oh well is Kane can he go to ltir or how are they going to shuffle the pieces around and as you mentioned off the top I mean Edmonton's had an outstanding off season for for a team that went to game seven of the Stanley Cup Final you know they kept the majority of the pieces that they wanted to keep uh you know in terms of the free agent or the the unrestricted free agents and and guys were taking less that you thought were guaranteed to move on like Connor Brown and and Yan mark But now all of a sudden uh you know the Oilers management team is looking up and seeing uh you know minus 7.22 five million available to them on the salary cap ever so close to the 10% summer limit and now you're forced to wonder how you're going to shuffle things around or face the possibility of losing a pair of first round draft picks who were probably just ready to Blossom and Bloom for a second and a third round pick are you kidding me like if you're in Allin mode right now the way the Oilers are you don't want a second and a third round pick to lose a 22 or a 23 and a 22 and a 23 year old who are you know broberg should be on the second pairing this year and was at times during the playoffs Hollow has been sort of more of a middle six guy but this is a guy with 20 goal potential H so uh you don't you're in a really precarious spot if you're the Oilers now you know history would tell us that they probably find a way to to get the job done since there's only been two successful um you know offer sheet to movements in the salary cap era those being Dustin Penner uh when he went from Anaheim to Edmonton and we nearly had a brawl between Brian Burke and Kevin uh behind the barn and secondly when yber cockton Yumi uh went to the Carolina Hurricanes and I would say that deal hasn't kind of worked out the same way that the pener deal worked out for the Oilers I mean Dustin had Mo four mostly productive seasons for the Oilers before he was moved at the deadline to the LA Kings and then the next year he won his second Stanley Cup so what was the compensation for Penner well okay so the number is 5 point sorry it was four point something so it's got to be similar it's got to be similar now to what it is would be for broberg right I think that the number was under five so uh I just wrote this down I think it was 4.54 okay well then it probably was the second it would be a second right I think so but the issue there I think like Brian brke was stuck like they were cap sealing team they couldn't match right so they had to take the pick in instead in that situation kind where Edmonton is right now so like how do you see this shaking out like getting rid of getting rid of money isn't easy everyone's talking about Evander Kane being on ltir and maybe if you can clarify for people Ken talking earlier well well this is the thing though like for day one of the season oh right sorry got to be on the roster right so I mean they can't just send him and say oh no problem that money's off the books like day one they still have to figure out a way to do that and it's not like these guys are on elc's anymore and they can send them to the miners without going off waivers and call them up a day afterwards like I don't know how they get out of this with both of these guys on their team next year yeah H I would say that uh you know the most likely outcome to me at this juncture barring some you know crazy salary cap gymnastics would be that they ret or they match on hallway because the number is easier to get to uh and you're probably going to lose broberg which for the Oilers hust we saw it like let's not kid ourselves broberg spent the majority of last year in Bakers field and was playing top four minutes in the Stanley Cup Playoffs so you'd have to think that the Oilers are counting on broberg to be a you know second pairing guy with some power play potentially he was almost a pointy game player at the American League level and yes we know he's not a super physical guy despite his stature of being 64 212 but these these guys don't grow on trees but St Louis has put the Oilers in a situation where I mean the Oilers would love to be able to pay you know 4.54 or 4.58 million for broberg but like a year or two from now but right now they can't really afford to do that but if you're St Louis hust I mean if you can plug and play a guy at 4.58 on your second pairing immediately of course you want to do that if the compensation's only a second round draft pick so I mean let's just put it this way the my answer to your original question is I think it will be incredibly difficult for the Oilers to retain both players and while they probably would prefer to keep broberg the he's the more challenging guy to keep because of the amount of money you got to move around and even if the Oilers tried to go with like a a 20 man opening night roster I don't think that they have like you said because these guys aren't on elc's anymore they don't have the ability to just paper transaction them to to Bakersfield to get down to the the cap cealing numbers so man it's going to be super interesting and I mean I I think some people have already maybe followed the others have written like well just accept the offer and then trade them but I don't think that's available to them either if you sign the offer sheet I think you have to wait at least a year before those players are moved uh to try and prevent that so anyways it got a brush up on the CBA like usual hus uh summertime reading it's been a fascinating day yeah let me hit you with this because let mean you talk to GMS and you sort of know how they work um it sort of seemed like the majority of GMS outside of Carolina Montreal you know have basically had somewhat of a handshake deal don't screw with me I won't screw with you that's why we haven't seen many of these deals yeah what do you think the reaction in Chevy's office today is in Toronto and around the league amongst other general managers seeing what's happened is this a sign that maybe we'll see more of this in the future or is this sort of a one-off because it hasn't happened very much in recent years out side of that situation with the Habs and Canes yeah I mean I don't I don't see a you know plethora of these happening but and again too hus I just wrote a piece about this I hope it's going to be posted this afternoon and and naturally you first of all I'll get back to it initially I got a little bit of a round the horn here Mo Jets fans naturally wondering well does this mean someone's gonna get offer sheet Co Peretti well it's totally different hus because the Jets have the 5.8 million available to them in terms of cap space you know in in fact the other GMS would probably be doing the Jets a favor in some ways if an offer sheet is signed because they have the ability to match no matter if it's a bridge deal or a long-term deal like it's not like they got to move seven million out even if even if somebody offer sheet Peretti at you know six times six and a half or whatever the Jets could do that and then just move one player and they've got no issues so I I don't know it's I don't think this is going to you know spark a trend but what I do think hust and the first thing that I thought of quite frankly and I don't have any inside knowledge on this and let me preface this by saying that Doug Armstrong is a bold general manager to begin with but hus I I can't help but think we know the blues have a succession plan Alex Steen is going to be the general manager after one year this is a new wave way of thinking and I can't help but think that Alex Steen had an impact I'm not saying it was him driving the bus on the decision but like we always talk pelli their VP of hockey Ops and former Oilers GM well no totally fair but I mean I'm just thinking that you know Alex is a guy who's always been a really cerebral person yeah definitely he's prob he's probably thinking well why aren't we doing this way like we've talked about this before he and Paul Stasney are quite close I mean you would see these two guys thinking like wh why aren't we going after those two guys when it's the quickest way to improve your team with the lowest you know acquisition cost like if you're trying to acquire Holloway or broberg it's going to obviously cost you more than a second and a third round pick but this opportunity is available to you as the blues we know they don't want to go into a five-year rebuild we know they're kind of a team on the bubble and probably on the outside looking in but this is a way for them to improve their team immediately and what the only negative for them is that you ticked off some other general manager and and put 30 other teams on alert well congratulations that's what you want to do if if you're trying to improve your hockey team so anyways and again this is a compliment I think that if Alex is involved and if he was driving the bus or it certainly had a big say in the in the matter that's smart I mean you want to have like this is wild hus we've talked about this a ton in terms of the handshake agreement I mean this is a league where every team is looking at loopholes in order to try to improve their team this is available for all of you and it's not even a loophole right I mean outside of you know the threat of retaliation what's what what could be a negative for St Louis and if you're St Louis you're thinking you want to retaliate go right ahead right so uh I love this again I don't think it's going to lead to 10 or 20 as summer but it's a great way to promote interest hust right I mean outside of the Blues being in the Jets division I mean there's no connection to them but people in the Jets fan base and Market what are they talking about today they're talking about the offer sheet right so uh I think it's a great way to spark interest around the league and I could it be problematic for some teams down the road for sure but I think it's just another interesting piece of the puzzle and it's something that teams should be weaponizing now hus just lastly on the Oilers thing this isn't just a this year problem for the Oilers you got to remember that dry cidal needs an extension his cap number is going way up so even if you get down to a number that's comfortable for this season now you're still having to force like shoehorn that 6.5 million for the two players in for next year when dry sutle is getting a good big raise and mcdavid's probably going from 135 to 165 in his next deal which will be unless they somehow found AER unless they somehow found a taker for Darnell nurse Tomorrow there's no comfortable way to make this happen and trust me if that was possible they would have done that although he probably has a no move I haven't checked that out but he signed that big deal probably committed there to it so it is H it is a really really interesting situation it is a mess for Edmonton Stan Bowman welcome back to the NHL deal with this and uh we'll see how things going and man like I'll just tell you I mean working with Dusty every day on the lock shop and getting a pretty good feel of the Edmonton folks Edmonton went from every single fan thinking that this was the best off season ever you know you get arvidson you keep Henrik you add Jeff Skinner Corey Perry's back that has done a complete 180 to this is just complete malpractice by management we're going to lose these two young players and the oer fan base is once again Furious comfortably so much the way they've been for a good portion of the last 10 to 15 years yeah and hust the other thing with that is that like so many of the so so many of those same fans are the are the people saying that those guys are busts because they had to spend so much time in Bakersfield to begin with which is the reason they weren't already getting offered these type of contracts in their next deal by the Oilers themselves and again I'm not saying they slow played those players because it's important for those players to get that marination right I mean this is not an Apples to Apples but to me hust this also reminds me of the free villy movement right I mean a lot of people in Edmonton have been wanting this for broberg forever too but I think that they taking their time ended up being a huge benefit for broberg and his ability to step right in now again I get it there's two sides of the argument the other side being that well if this guy can handle top four minutes in the playoffs well where the hell was he for the rest of the season but sometimes you need a little bit of extra time down in the miners to get ready for that next step which again I think there are some parallels to what we may see um you or have seen up to this point and again I'm not saying this is a Lambert and and hanala you know direct correlation but it's just a reminder that it doesn't always happen as quickly as people think but it doesn't prevent those players from having an impact down the road and the biggest impact for broberg and Holloway is upcoming and now the only question will be will that be with the blues or will it be with the Oilers now uh Ken before we go I've got to ask you this and it is involving the second line Center position for the Jets so we're going to need to keep it a little tighter this year than last year you were on with yes but listen Chevy was on yesterday with the fellas on OB and was asked about Co Peretti and that really excited to see Cole pretti in the top six this that and was asked specifically could he be an option at the 2C position and arneal said and I'll paraphrase uh probably not like really likes where he is at on the wing and then mentioned there's a couple other young players that'll be in the mix for that but basically went to Vlad and metov and said he'll probably get another look is that plan a do you think for the Winnipeg Jets Vlad metov is the number two Center well I mean again Scott Arnell made it clear you know again I had a conversation with him about you know several weeks ago about the same subject and he answered in the same fashion I mean of course he he didn't close the door on uh Peretti he didn't close the door on Brad Lambert coming in and stealing the jaw but right now the front runner to have the job is vladislav namestnikov I think that that's been pretty evident uh it was evident in his conversation today on Jets at noon it was conversation you know evident in our conversation several weeks ago at the at the United Way pressers so uh again there's flexibility there's room for that to change I mean training camp brings different things whether that is Lambert himself uh stealing the job or maybe it means you know maybe there's somebody gets banged up or whatever else there could be a trade there could be all kinds of other things that that shake things up and then that's the beauty h like training camp is in a month and then there'll be three weeks to determine where things go from there and as we saw last year with Cole Peretti sometimes even when you win the job you don't get to keep the job for longer than four games so uh I know a lot of people are up in arms maybe about that but I think this is also more to do uh with line Construction and hust the other part of this too let's not forget Vlad namestnikov started last year as the 4C and you know was the 2C by game five so uh all to say there are a lot of moving Parts I I do think that namestnikov would be if I'm putting out my projected lineup right now I have namestnikov there but he's in pencil and not in you know in a in a Sharpie or or ink right I mean that's the beauty the the line movement will Shuffle around and hus we've seen it over the years second line minutes often belong to Adam Lowry anyway so uh we know it's part of the fun debate and every I can't hear anything now uh are we still on still on we're you're still on hus you're on okay okay perfect yeah Frozen sound was off but uh anyways we just Lo Kenny there at the end uh but I think we will be revisiting this conversation a little later on at some point with Ken um I am interested one thing we didn't really get into was timing on the Peretti deal um listen I I think this next week is probably not happening would certainly like to see something happen with him getting it figured out whether it's a two-year deal whether it is a six or seveny year deal you know by the end of August you'd like to see it by Labor Day weekend but history has told us that that sometimes is easier said than done um so we'll pay attention to that and we'll look forward to revisiting that with Ken uh but again the big story today in the National Hockey League is what is up with the Edmonton Oilers and how the heck they're going to handle the Dual offer sheets thrown at them by the saint louw Blues today and if they do resign one or both of those players how they become cap compliant for the opening day of the regular season we are going to welcome in Brady Oliva in a moment but uh let me uh quickly uh give a big cheers to our friends friends at the bnip Pig Blue Bombers in Brady Olivera um you know we're using a different system today with the Remis taking off for a day so I'm not sure do we have Brady right now guys not yet we're I'm just on the phone with them trying to get it sorted out here oh okay sounds good we'll look to get Brady Ola in um we will be jumping on the cool bet lines uh in just a minute and as I say you know I'll maybe give a little bit of a plug ahead of this to it um but the CFL lines are out and we were wondering what was going to happen with this bomber game and BC and oh well it's already happened so this morning the bombers are three-point favorites then Nathan RoR announces he's back or BC announces that Nathan RoR is back the game was off the board when we finished doing CFL 110 which is debuting right after the program today uh here on the wsd YouTube the bombers were onepoint favorites at kolat and it was very close to a pick them minus 112 on the bomber side and minus 109 for the BC Lions well fast forward another hour or so and the bombers are underdogs they are onepoint dogs right now at minus 115 BC's onepoint favorites at minus 105 but the money line has flipped and the BC Lions are now minus 114 favorites and the bombers are at minus 106 I don't think the bombers will mind being underdogs going into this game they remembered what they did to BC last week uh but I think they are going to need to be ready for potentially a very different looking offense with Nathan Mor in it now BC had the best offense in the league throughout the season heading into that and the bombers made the statement of statements in holding them to about 100 yards of offense four first downs in the game and basically never allowing to have the football 4212 or sorry 4218 was the time of possession in that game which is a number I don't think I've ever heard of in the Canadian Football League uh but Nathan roor changes it changes the game significantly and uh we'll see what happens but uh Sunday night cannot wait for that one finishing up a wild week in the Canadian Football League with the bombers and BC Lions in a rematch of last year's West final and of course this game will also determine the season series between these two teams because BC came into Winnipeg and won earlier in the season they then lost 25 nothing the third game this is the rubber match and the bombers are going to need to win on the road if they are going to have a tiebreaker over the British Columbia lions and of course BC's lost three in a row right now uh Saskatchewan is 02 and one in their last three the entire West Division has gotten so much closer uh over the last few weeks even when the bombers were on the buy sure Edmonton won but Calgary lost BC lost and Saskatchewan had that bizarre 22 all tie last week with the uh uh with the Ottawa red blacks red blacks for their part of three and a half Point dogs in Calgary uh going up against the Calgary stamp Peters stamps minus 182 on the money line and uh it's going to be Jeremiah moli starting for the Ottawa red blacks big big opportunity for him to me this is an easy pick as I've said on the lock shop a number of times before I will be betting Calgary at home until further notice and fading Calgary on the road until further notice uh because they are perfect on the road and they are windless sorry they're windless on the road and they're perfect at home kind of think that stays the course this week uh when Ottawa is in Calgary now this game on Friday night is going to be fascinating and let's just have our fingers crossed that Cody fjara was good to go because Trevor Harris is back in practice for the Saskatchewan Ru Riders and they'll have their number one quarterback but behind Center when the Riders take the field at mosaic to welcome in the great Cup champs the big question is will Cody Fardo return to Regina as a gray Cup champion and uh the leader of an 8-1 football team right now Montreal is a very slight onepoint favorite Saskatchewan one uh getting a point and the money line is Montreal minus 125 and Saskatchewan plus 103 um Friday night that is going to be an absolute Beauty on TSN and then how about this the Elks win a couple games and now they're just Road favorites laying two points in Hamilton on Friday night are the Edmonton Elks uh waiting for Clarity on how Trey Ford's looking this week H into Friday's game uh but I think even with MBT believei Mitchell's not starting they got powo going for Hamilton which is a bit of a surprising move considering you know how effective bivi had been but those picks had been killing him we'll get into more of that coming up on the lock shop later on today uh and then again as I mentioned bombers and British Columbia Lions basically a pick them but BC a very slight favorite and onepoint favorites on the spread right now and you can see even with a couple days of practice the Nathan RoR effect is real and uh let's just say it made things a lot more interesting for uh for Sunday night if you joined us late there was great news out of bomber camp in that Kenny Lawler's back so uh 89 back in the fold Zack keros gets his number one receiver back who've been missing since the first game of the season of course that was compounded by the loss of Dalton shown for the year in the following game they've weathered the storm got a huge win heading into the buy and now it's time to keep things rolling against BC Lions and that is a place where Kenny laer had some monster games in the past um hoping to get Brady olera in here right now although I think that we've got a bit of an issue with the connection on the vmix Remo what's uh what's an update yeah H can you just go into you know the system that we use normally just go in there for a sec go into video all right yeah yeah go in there and then I'm gonna gra for a minute I'll pop out of I got a pop out of this no stay in this you know what the only thing is won't it be using my camera don't use a camera in don't worry about the camera in there we just need your microphone okay okay sounds good and then see if we can fix this on the Fly do a little on the Fly the the backup that we used or the original sure that's fine the backup okay popping in there right now and oh for some reason my camera is available as well that's fine we'll figure this okay so anyways I popped in there right now and again we're just trying to work this through and get uh get Brady Oliva in with us today with uh which should be great I am quite interested to see I mean this bomber by week was almost like a double buy because they played on Thursday uh and then had the following week off and then don't play again until Sunday I mean almost unheard of you know with all the short weeks you get in the Canadian Football League uh to have more than two weeks in between a game um but again the bombers were the last team to have a buy this year so they uh they got the the the short week they got the job done they rewarded for it I know a bunch of guys on the team headed out I mean that's a little longer than just a couple extra days off I know Willie Jay was down in PV and uh well we'll see what Brady olivea was up to uh when he jumps on the program a little bit later on um you know I may as well finish up the cool bet lines right now we just wait went through everything going on for uh the CFL this week we do have major league baseball to get to and uh Dusty and I have cooked up another double play for tonight uh Dusty's on we've we've touch this line down somewhat uh the Red Sox and Rangers both of these teams can hit the cover off the ball think I think they combined for 17 runs the last time they played um yeah right now I'm hitting send and um we've also got the Reds and the Cardinals uh going at it I like hunter green he is going to be the uh starter tonight great pitching matchup in this game so we're taking the Red's money line which was at minus 133 the over nine and a half between Boston and Texas which was minus 133 it's actually gone up a little bit uh and then they give us a nice boost up to plus 234 so if you're looking for something to uh throw a nickel down on tonight uh make it the lock shop double play with the boosted odds up to plus 234 if you like the Reds to beat the Cardinals and the Red Sox and Rangers uh to hit over 9.5 tomorrow in the lock shop we will be getting ready for the FedEx St Jude Championship Pat greguar just popped another outright last week with Aaron Ry at the Windom I think that was a 50 to1 winner Patty's been hot in many in many aspects of of his life um but yeah we'll hit the FedEx St Jude tomorrow maybe even a little of the live Green Brier and if you are looking for more fantasy football content we uh we're gonna have quite a bit of it coming up over the next few uh shows and weeks in the lock shop with myself and Dustin neelon Dusty cannot help himself he's probably done you know despite being calling games non-stop for the past 10 days still manages to mix in some mock drafts in between everything that he's doing so he'll be locked and loaded but anyways if you haven't played a coolat before use the promo code wst when you make your first deposit for a 100% bonus up to 200 bucks and uh don't forget next Tuesday we're planning the uh kolette poker event so uh you can check our socials and the kolette socials for more information on that uh get reserved in lock it in and join us for what should be a real fun date to kick it off and I think we're going to have a bit of a Poker series with the cool bet gang and the lock shop throughout the season but that's next Tuesday hope he can join us all right I think we figured this out and uh I think we've got Brady Oliva ready to go let's see if we can welcome in the blue bomber running back and get the show on the road Brady what's going on can you hear me okay hey what's going on I'm just going to need the audio from Brady guys I can't hear him right now Brady let's see give us another test if you can just uh say one two three no I don't have you now and that is uh that is an issue um re I'm just looking should I be hearing no I'm hearing the output here Communications I don't know I'm the least technical technologically savvy of the entire crew here and the guys are working on behind the scenes but we can see Brady he's looking pretty good am I hearing you now re yeah don't worry about it I don't know okay I I don't I don't know I don't know we're having a tough time getting getting Brady Olivera on um yeah I just heard test there we go there we go Brady what's going on we have we have figured it out technical Gremlins challenging the show uh not too much it's great to have you back on how was the uh how was the bye week for you did you did you stick around town or like some of your other teammates did you get away for a little bit nice oh well that's uh that's house boo country too huh everyone uh what the hell I can imagine that the bye-week felt a little bit better for you and everyone wearing a blue bomber Jersey considering what happened in that game heading into the bye I mean by any measure for a blue bomber season this has been trying I mean uh there had been some tough losses um some uncharacteristic losses for this team to put it all together the way you did in such a massive game against BC um I mean tell just give us your thoughts on that game and what it was like saying later to the fellas seeing a little bit going out in such an impressive fashion with the freaking shut out which never happens in the CFL yeah I mean first off our defense they've been playing whes out all season and these last performances that they've been stacking especially the one they we just played against BC I mean I've never seen a defensive performance like that in my entire life so you know holding them to what they held them to you know the total yardage and like three first downs or whatever it was it was it was just phenomenal phenomenal phenomenal performance from the defense and then looking at as a as a team right you know playing complimentary football all three phases um defense having our back you know us doing what we need to do uh you know to get points and and and to find the end zone um it was good you know obviously heading into a byee you know it makes that byee even sweeter right and I remember talking about that early in the week to the guys into the media about all the adversity that we've been facing this this season you know we didn't start the season the way we wanted to start it yes we've had a ton of injuries a lot of adversity but the only way to overcome adversity is you need to face it head on and you need to attack it you need to embrace it you need to embrace the grind and then you'll overcome it if you have that mindset I talking to the guys during the week about this and how sweet this Victory is going to taste once we win because of everything that we've been going through all the hardships all the struggles all the trials and tribulations because we've been showing up every single day coming to work with a great attitude and working extremely hard because everyone here cares and and we we love one another and we want to go out there and perform at a high level to you know to get wins for this organization and for this team and for each other so it really really felt super sweet and and special to go out there and win that that game heading into the by week um I what can you say about your defense I mean even when things were struggling and some uncharacteristic turnovers uh by the team and I mean the Toronto game I mean that was such a a weird one I mean everything had to go wrong in the fashion that it did considering the way you guys played not to come out with a win but I mean they hold Saskatchewan under 20 points on the road the defense gives up six offensive points against Toronto and then comes through with a shadowed I mean what does that do for the offense uh who's trying to kind of find their groove and certainly is getting more and more like the bomber offenses we've remembered when you have a defense that basically the second they go on the field they're calling you back out there yeah it's uh it's a good feeling you know right obviously you know we wanna we want to make sure that as an offense we stay on the field and that our defense can you know be on the sidelines and we can keep the fresh and we can go out there and score you know 30 40 points a game you know that would be ideal but at the end of the day every game every week's going to look different and when you know that you have a defense like that that can get you out of hard times you know when we're backed up and we're punting deep and we give the offense the opposing offense great field position we know in the back of our head that hey you know our defense has our back they're going to go out there and do their thing they're going to you know get a turnover they're going to get a big stop on second down and and make them kick and and really hold them to you know minimal points so you know knowing that we have a defense like this is uh it's huge man they uh they've got us out of some bad times and uh we're going to make sure that we're going to be there to hold up our end of the deal and like I said you know playing complimentary football all three phases offense special teams defense we saw that last game and and just continue this you know they've been playing great all year and uh as an offense now I think you know we're really getting it these these young receivers are really maturing um you know they're growing every single week um um and yeah I I think we're we're going to go on heater man I really think we're going to make a nice low run here uh just got I just got this feeling well if a couple Thursdays is any indication we've uh we The Best Is Yet To Come for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers um your numbers personally have continued to go go up throughout the season I mean coming off three consecutive really strong games what are you seeing from the offensive line and how has that group raised their level recently especially in the BC game uh to allow you to continue to be the battering ram that you are when things are rolling for the blue yeah you know this offensive line unit you know I think it starts everything starts with how you approach every single day right and it starts with in the work week right how do you come in here and handle your business right when starts in you know getting your workouts in in the meeting room watching tape Translating that onto the field for practice you know how are you approaching that every single day and as a unit you know these guys put in the work you know I see it they're in here early they're in here late they're very much prepared so you know I'm I'm very proud of this unit unit and confident and they're in their play and you know me being the running back in this offense I have a whole lot of confidence and a lot of you know peace of mind when I'm in the game knowing that hey you know this is the unit that I'm going to be running behind and they're going to get me to the second level to allow me to do what I do so you know like I've said in the past you know my success is their success you know without them I'm nothing um and yeah they're doing a great job I think you know um the start of my season obviously you know it was a little bit slower start you know my body physically I I wasn't where I wanted it to be it wasn't feeling right how I wanted to feel like um and it just took some time uh and I just I I could feel it you know every single week I was getting better and better and and uh you know my vision everything was just you know I was getting those game reps and uh felt like I was you know playing at you know my my Midway season of of how I'm I'm hitting the holes and I get better as the season goes and and now that's exactly what you're seeing I think I'm getting better every single week uh getting into you know more of a Groove with this offensive line you know the new guys in there um you know Kendall Randol coming in last game at Right Guard filling in for Pat newfeld and and playing a heck of a game you know that's what I'm talking about these guys really Buy in and and uh and really just soak in all the knowledge and then they're when their opportunities there they they they meet it and they they take a head on so uh yeah it's been a a lot of fun this year and we just want to continue to build continue to get 1% better every day and and keep working it's not how you start it's how you finish that's what they say always want to win the last one and uh I mean listen you know the you know as we follow this league on a daily basis I mean you guys went on holidays and a lot of things for the first time this year sort of went your way losses to the other teams in the west I mean we're going into the second half of the season and this division is absolutely wide open there's three games separating first from the who were 0 and seven a minute ago so I mean listen there is a lot of football left to be played some huge games coming up starting on Sunday just before we get to Sunday I I'm interested in the bye and this is a unique one because it was extra long um you know you had the bye and then you come in and you're not playing until Sunday but for someone in your position with the amount of wear and tear the hits that you take every single game how big is it for a starting running back to uh get a couple weeks off in the middle of the Season without missing any action yeah uh you know you know by weeks are good obviously for that you know guys that are injured and and and close to coming back I think it you know gives them that extra time to make sure that they're back for the following game uh obviously the position that I play and and the way that I play this game I only think there's one way to play this game and that is physical every single play All Out balls to the wall like you play it only only one way and this is how I play the game and whether I'm running the ball catching the ball blocking the ball or uh blocking for the quarterback you know that's that's just how I play this game so uh you know physically it's good to take a little bit of a break but personally you know I just I like staying in it I enjoy you know going on you know consecutive games and playing on short weeks and just your body almost starts to get calloused and you start to build up bumps and bruises and you really just start to embrace that I almost feel like when I go on these by- weeks for me I use it as a mental res I start to feel as these weeks go on they start to get long and it's very redundant and and you need that mental reset but when it comes to the physical part of it I mean I enjoy just you know going straight through if if I could just have one bye and do it in the middle Midway point of the season and then do the second half of the Season all in a row that's what I would do so but the mental resets nice but man I just want to grind this thing through and uh let let's the thing ride well I if we ever get a 10th team in the CFL you might get your wish but uh until then with the odd number of teams there's going to be a few more by weeks but you know getting the first night in and then having this extended buy for the bombers I think actually works out very very well um what was it like a practice to see 89 out there the return of Kenny Lawler what does that do for the offense and uh how is he welcomed back by the fellas on the practice field yeah oh man he's a stud you know he didn't miss a beat been working extremely hard hard behind the scenes uh you know that guy was grinding just ready to get back itching to get back and like I said he he didn't miss a beat you know he was out there his own his his his old self you know making plays one hand one hand grabs you know you know what Kenny Lawler does so uh and just and just the vet presence I think though in the Huddle you know I noticed that with lucky Whitehead in the Huddle when we played BC this past week uh you know obviously we've been thin at receiver you know Wally goes down you know we have lucky come up and and just that vet presence right you know he fills that in for Wally and then you have dempski in the Huddle and you still have these young receivers that are starting to mature right which is really good but there's nothing like game experience and a vet that has been in these situations and have and seen seen all these looks so having Kenny back in that in that huddle today was just you know good energy Good Vibes um and yeah just super pumped to have you know the best receiver in the league back out there you know he's going to go out there and make his plays so I'm super excited for Sunday for him to go back out there and and do what he does best what time uh what time did you guys take the practice field today what time to practice get going we're on the field at 11:15 I believe so had you guys heard of the Nathan RoR news before practice or afterwards yeah we we heard about it there was a there's a little chatter about it uh before practice he started hearing about it then obviously after practice is when majority of the guys you know found out about that news and and look I mean that's amazing for this league you know as a Canadian a proud wiip piger you know I only want to see this league do amazing things and and having Canadian talent like that I'm talking about a guy that is gonna sell tickets is gonna sell jerseys you know people are gonna want gonna gonna come and watch him play right and that's the pride that I take in playing for my hometown right I I want people to come buy tickets and to watch me and my teammates play win games at prin Princess Auto stadium and I want people to buy my jerseys and and support so I I truly believe you know Nathan going back to BC is only going to better this league for the future so um yeah big big day for the league well it's certainly GNA maybe get a few more eyeballs on that game Sunday night it adds a little wrinkle into the rematch between these two teams I mean regardless when Winnipeg and BC have played over the course of the last four or five seasons they've always been phenomenal games and it really has been back and forth between these clubs to add that wrinkle a potentially Nathan R not only being back with the Lions but starting in the place of an injured Vernon Adams it's gonna give guys like us a lot to talk about heading into the game and I'm with you it is great for the league um I'll tell you what it uh you know maybe makes it even more bigger challenge for the team but I mean regardless of who's starting at Center or a QB I should say behind center for the opposition right now very clear that I mean and this is not new for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers your focus is on yourselves the job at hand for what you have to do preparing to win a football game and uh tell you what if you could just do what you did a couple Thursdays ago br will uh everyone will be okay exactly man it's uh you know it's about us you know every single week we come in here with a great mentality a great you know level of focus to you know worry about us how are we're going to go one and0 this week and and ultimately whatever it takes right you know it's going to look different every single week week um and whatever it takes to get the job done so um we don't matter doesn't matter who we're facing who's you know the quarterback you know what what the lineup looks like you know we believe in us and it's about us and we're going to go out there and execute at a high level and just play bomber style of football and um and come out Victorious hey uh big picture I can you know hear the confidence and the excitement to get back on the field um listen you and your teammates have coaching staff I mean has set the bar so high which kind of made the way the team started the season so surprising but I think in anything Sports business school sometimes you have to learn a few lessons the hard way fail a couple times to make you better going forward at this point coming off the buy Midway through the season with the record as it is do you think that some of the shortcomings of the team earlier on and the losses that you had for various reasons do you think that can make you guys better in a more dangerous team down the stretch because it has been very different than the way you guys have operated in the first four because it's sort of been cruising I mean last year for all intents and purposes the last month of the Season certainly it was for Toronto we were basically just waiting for the playoffs to happen yeah you know I think uh you know like I talked about earlier the the adversity and if you face it head on you know that's how you overcome adversity and and adversity and and tough times can teach you so much about you know a team about yourself you know you look at yourself in the mirror and and criticize yourself and say you know how how can you get better how can this things change um so yeah I I I truly believe you know like you said it's not how you start how you finish and the situations and circumstances that we have faced early on in the season you know two overtime games you know tight games uh throughout the course of the season so many different scenarios that we've already seen this year usually you see near the end of the year or in the playoffs and as you make a run for the great Cup right so we've been facing so much early on and I I truly do believe you know we've seen so much so many looks this year already that I think it's going to really benefit us down the road and and we're going to come in those situations that we've already been in early on in the season so I think you know facing this adversity for us early on is something that you know we weren't used to but it might have been something that we needed right you know some to how how can you get better as an individual how can this team get better how can you demand more from yourself um to to give more to your teammates right because that ultimately you know we're out here to play for one another out here to go and honor your teammates and and to go you know put your best best football on tape so I think you know maybe that's what we needed and I think moving forward I think you're going to see our best football the second half of the Season Brady Olivera with us from the Winnipeg bombers bombers Lions on Saturday night in Vancouver 600 PM start here in Winnipeg of course you catch the game on TSN um hey just before we go and I always love chatting with you and I could do this for another hour but uh you mentioned you're a Winnipeg guy uh and you um as much as anyone appreciate the support of everyone that you know that's wearing the 20s that's filling the stands the one thing that hasn't changed has been the support of blue bomber fans I mean you know listen it was a beautiful day in the summer head into a long weekend he had almost 32,000 people in that Stadium to watch you guys whitewash the Lions what just I just tell us about what like how that fan support has helped keep you guys doing what you're doing and not just the way that that the teammates and the guys in that room have appreciated what's coming from the folks in the seats man it's a beautiful thing you know they've these bomber fans have never wavered you know through the the the tough times that we went through through the start of the season going 0 and four whatever it was the support that we were getting still from these bomber fans were unmatched and we appreciate that knowing that no matter how the week before went you know we got a home game coming up and we know the Stadium's going to be packed and the fans going to be there loud ready to cheer and and and support the boys so um the support has never changed from the bomber fans and this is why I say I mean like you like I said we started at 0 and4 and the support and the fans never changed right we got the best fans in the league man no questions asked best fans in the CFL uh wiip Peg blue bomber fans we appreciate you we love you um and just keep riding with us you know we're gonna we're going to go on a nice little run here and and make something happen well you're getting a lot of love in the chat as always when you join us Mary Jane saying thank you Brady here's a nice one from philis just talking about the fans we've got your back Brady you're the best such a fabulous player always giving 100% on the field we know that one change and uh it'll take 100% from everyone in those unies to get it done on Sunday Brady but we'll wish you luck can't wait to see you guys back at Princess Auto stadium and uh here's to a great second half of the season for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers you be well my friend and have a great game on Sunday appreciate it man talk soon you bet there he is Brady Ola the bomber battering ram number 20 on your program number one in your hearts and uh continuing to move up the uh rushing leaders for the Canadian football league and um he's been a huge part of you know what the offense has done and now with Kenny Lawler back maybe get that offense you know the passing side you know a little bit more dangerous when it comes to scoring touchdowns but you know he mentioned we were talking about the defense getting uh the Lions off the field in that game a couple Thursdays ago I mean the other thing that was just so impressive um was the fact that you know they were able to run the football they were able to maintain possession and and put together numbers that you just simply don't see 42 minutes uh to 18 minutes time of possession all right we're not done talking CFL because CFL 110 is coming up in a few minutes but uh uh let's get Remo back in here as uh got to give a shout out to the fish fish are back in town and in first place Remis and uh beginning six at home starting tonight we talked a lot about how gorgeous the weather's been uh this is a great time to get out and see some baseball while we wait for the bombers to get at at Sunday night you muted there we go we'll get Michael in here and I see Adam dard saying how how about Sergio going six for six with a 52 Y and a 60 y was amazing um that was uh we knew listen everyone in the bombers was going to bounce back uh and and play much better in in that game coming out of the Toronto game and they uh and you know that they did it um but Sergio I still have a video I don't think I've actually put it out to anyone of that 60 Yer from my seat in the field um he's going to need to put up some points the entire bomber offense is going to be need to be putting up some points and as I said very interested to see just how things look on the BC side of things and Nathan RoR is the starting quarterback on Sunday night with that wild news today um as I mentioned though uh heading in the gold eyes are at home beginning tonight for their second last homestand of the Season Sue Falls in town 6:30 start three games against Sue Falls and then Sous City here Friday Saturday and Sunday afternoon great sports day in Winnipeg one o00 start for the fish on Sunday then you get ready to get in front of the tube for that six o'clock bomber game heck of a way to end the weekend and don't forget the Manitoba social night for the gold eyes is on Friday and that is the date that uh they'll be doing the Fred Penner bobblehead giveaway uh but there's lots going on the bark of the park coming up as well go to gold eyes.com for all the information on the promo dates and to get tickets and of course you can call 982 base uh shout out to our friends over at a cinoa Downs we've got live racing back at it tonight I had a big win last night I had a big win I finally got my mojo back a triactor I think it paid over 51 bucks so we'll see whether I can make it happen but yes live racing is back today and uh post time is 7:30 we'll see if we can uh we can keep it rolling and again we'll uh I'll get to our picks tomorrow for the Wednesday night slate of races again Remis is going to be away uh but we've got some extra race dates at the end of the year and as of next week we'll be going Monday Tuesday Wednesday with live racing over at Asin Boya Downs um also to thank our friends at at Akens Lake Wilderness Lodge finishing up an incredible year on the water out at really Paradise on earth right here in Manitoba if you're looking for a worldclass flying fishing destination for friends a family trip a corporate trip with some customers or you know important people of your staff that you don't get enough FaceTime with throughout the year aens is an unbelievable way way to do it uh incredible fishing even better Hospitality from the Akens team go to Akens lake.com to find out more you can contact I'm sure there is some limited availability at the end of the season into early September uh but already booking well into 2025 so get on that talk to our pal pit tan over at aens lake.com of course we had a great golf segment earlier this week earlier today I should say it's been a long show it seems like it was a week ago with of course Mark Zino all of our golf reports on wst brought to you by Breezy Bend I'm actually really excited to be a part of the Breezy Bend member guest event on Sunday where I'll be sitting down with jets general manager Kevin chevel day off who would talk a little bit about the offseason and the upcoming upcoming campaign of course if you're looking for a great long-term golfing home for you and your family check out Breezy Bend Breezy b.ca for more information or you can give our pal Cory Johnson a call at the clubhouse for information on membership for the 20 20 25 season out at Breezy Bend all right let's see if we can get if I can hear Remis we'll try and get him in one more time if not we'll get ready and we'll go straight in to CFL 110 which is going to begin in about 20 minutes uh Remo can you hear me or can I hear you I'm guessing you can hear me then yes I can hear you now wonderful you're back yeah I switched my microphone on my browser I guess it doesn't accept which is why you didn't hear me so I had to do a bunch of refreshing no no one cares though we figured it out um I'm having Mo we working through a little bit well this is just good that we kind of had you here to figure it out because some well- earned days off as uh you're going to be away for a few days Andrew and I will be holding it down Connor will be in to hang out and uh and do some chatting at the start and the end of the show uh and I guess this is a time we can wish our pal Benji uh a uh a wonderful wedding day going forward and is very unconventional timing of his nuptuals that are going to take you away in the middle of the week strangely enough and through the rest but uh it should be a good one but man what a wild show though today as you mentioned right off the bat we were not expecting that uh we were not expecting that we'd be talking about a double offer sheet in the NHL and then the news that basically broke our inboxes Nathan RoR back to the Canadian football league and the fact that he's probably going to start on Sunday is uh maybe the craziest news imagine telling us at the end of yesterday's show after we said he's not coming back to the CFL this year that he might be in uniform and starting on Sunday yeah uh I did not see this one happening I thought he was going to try to catch on with some NFL team and do the whole dance but no he's had enough he wants to play football and yes of course BC is playing the bombers uh in there his first game back but but hey they've already played two games they won't have to play him uh another time after this but hey they're they're not worried they know that they can beat him and uh but and it's his first game so this is probably catching him at the right time I can't wait to see what he looks like in this season speaking of the right time CFL 110 brought to you by garage living Winnipeg is just about to start uh we'll send you over there huge thanks to Andrew who's going to be with us for the rest of the week cranking out
