first Friday in a while I've been away Bachelor parties vacation wedding uh been it's been busy last couple weeks but it's September NFL is back we are a month away from NHL and we are less than a week away from having players in Winnipeg Jets jerseys back on the ice hockey for all center with the young Stars roster which just got released will be practicing for the first time so I'm feeling good here on a Friday banjo Bowl tomorrow you know kicking off Friday Night Football as well big game BC Montreal gold eyes you said it tonight uh Blue Cross Park there's a lot going on here has a lot to talk about I'm I'm excited here well and and listen just before we get to it I mean the other big story last night of course was NFL kickoff and what what a game you know we often joke that you know the NFL has a script to make things as exciting as possible well the uh the script played out incredibly last night uh an absolute Thriller between two of the best teams in the NFL and the Baltimore Ravens comeback attempt coming up just about a centimeter short as isaah likely was out of bounds catching what would have been a touchdown not just to tie the game but Harbaugh was going to go for two they didn't get that opportunity the Chiefs win by seven to begin their title defense in their quest of a historic three repeat and uh man there was so much to to talk about from that game Remis but I mean what really stood out to me uh both quarterbacks I thought played really well Lamar in particular he held them in that game because that offensive line was getting eaten up Chris Jones could have had four or five sacks if it was anyone other than Lamar Jackson in the backfield and oh my God the debut of Xavier Worthy on the chief's side that dude can flat out fly uh as fast as a player I think we've ever seen and his first touch in the NFL was a blur going just over 20 yards to the house it was uh hell of a way to kick off NFL season yeah uh I know Mark Andrews fantasy owners might be worried with the emergence of Isaiah likeley who might be the most searched player on your waiver wire and I mean what a play was kind of reminiscent of uh D of Alexander on Montreal when he tiptoed the sideline was he in was he out I you know I couldn't really tell one way or another you could tell last night his foot came down tow over the line uh Ravens players seemingly not believing that you know it was out of bounds but I think it was pretty clear but more importantly Lamar Jackson on that drive the play before missing a wideopen receiver in the end zone and the play before that um you know overthrowing likely who I thought had a serious injury H looked like he broke his collar bone his shoulder just went up for the ball and got hit in the air and landed so awkwardly was down but came back to make that play uh you know as time expired and was out of bounds so again a great game they had the ceremony before Taylor Swift there in a separate box from Britney momes hus I don't know what you make about that you know they were tag teaming all last season maybe because she was a late addition to the team couldn't get her own box but I don't know if there's big controversy between the two TMZ is trying to stir something up so a lot of story lines from last night and the Ravens fall short again to the you know defending two-time Super Bowl champion casy Chiefs the Ravens didn't handle it well after the game I'm not sure if you caught any of the postgame pressors I mean Lamar and Lamar had such an awesome game I mean I tipped my hat to him he was the reason why they had the opportunity to win it late um He just flat out said that that was a touchdown he said oh I still believe it was a touch down Lamar bad news it wasn't a touchdown the guy was obviously out of bounds and that's why it was a very easy call to make by the replay officials but that was nothing compared to what Isaiah likeley had to say after the game and listen he was kind of a breakout star last night freaked out a lot of Mark Andrews fantasy owners I can tell you that much um but yeah he he shows up and says that uh I believe his quote was well if that's all they got uh good luck good luck in the playoffs um I don't think anyone's planning on peing in week one it's about getting the W's and the Chiefs did it last night the Ravens didn't I still think that the Baltimore is going to be a major problem for teams in the AFC right now but uh great way to start it off last night and as we mentioned we're going back to back tonight because uh really this is one of the coolest International games we've seen Remo in the fact that it's week one it's in Brazil they've never had a game in Brazil before but between two of the top teams in the NFC in Green Bay and Philadelphia getting going tonight this should be an awesome awesome matchup I'm curious how this is going to go what's the fan base going to be like I've heard interesting stories about safety concerns uh in Brazil for the players I've heard about travel concerns I believe it's that one team is staying very close to the stadium and other team's like an hour and a half two hours away uh depending on traffic but the NFL trying to Hash grow the game they've done overseas games didn't they have a game in Mexico a couple years ago that they had field concerns and had to move it yeah that was the Chiefs Rams game yeah no that ended up being that 5451 game one of the most bananas games in NFL history just back and forth yeah so we'll see how this goes in Brazil uh kind of cool I guess it seems strange but and it is on what peacock streaming only in the US and I'm thankful that we don't have to deal with that kind of stuff here streaming only games TSN getting the Thursday night games which are on Prime in the US and we get the peacock games on TSN as well so some of the benefits of uh the Canadian TV package I just love the fact that uh I love the fact that NFL is back we're already getting takes in the chat like this one from Gregory that the NFL is scripted guess what the Chiefs are the script and uh the three repeat is on right now folks now listen it was really really fun game great to see some of the young players kind of Debut and uh listen I can't wait for this one tonight I do like Green Bay I'm high on Green Bay I'm not high on Philly so uh we'll see what uh what happens with that um listen when Mike comes on a little later on uh we're going to find focus in on the bomber or the bombers and the the banjo bowl with Ed Tate and uh and Paul appes first up but Mike McIntyre is going to join us a little later on and we will get into a little bit of talk of Cole Peretti because today we got a couple tidbits from a few of the Insiders now Darren Drager Elliot Freeman reported first we're going to play this in a minute uh but drager's tweet is despite ongoing contract negotiations Cole perfetti is now in Winnipeg to train and skate with teammates perfetti also intends on representing the Winnipeg Jets at next week's NHL player media tour in Las Vegas which certainly uh I mean good on Cole for moving forward assuming that a deal is going to get done doesn't sound like things are at a very contentious uh point right now but you would like to see this get done sooner as opposed to later especially before next week if he's actually going to this junket um the 32 thoughts is back by the way uh no Jeff Merrick as pretty much everyone knows Kyle boscus is the new co-host along with Elliot um and they touched on this and here's what Elliot had to say uh on the Cole Peretti situation earlier today on 32 so Winnipeg's representative at next week's media tour is Cole Peretti and as of Thursday night I was under the impression that Peretti is still going that's a bit different than say Boston I think initially Swan was supposed to go now he's not going I don't know where this negotiation is going everybody's been quiet but from what I've heard he still likes being a Jet and His preference is to work something out there they have the control I don't think there's going to be an offer sheet right now I'm not sure what's taken so long but the one thing you always have to check is is there any reason to believe the player is unhappy there I'm under the impression that's not the case and Peretti is happy being a jet all right so there's Elliot fredman and um listen I I don't think we had any reason to believe otherwise um and re it's this is not strange or unusual to have RFA is not signed at the beginning of September and we sort of went through this marad earlier this week I mean in jet history we've seen plenty of these deals happen at or even into the first or second day of training camp um and you know I think that this is even a it's a unique situation cuz I think that there is certainly many reasons and arguments that a long-term deal makes a lot of sense for both parties but again based on the season that Cole had last year which had some real Highs but also some lows you wonder where both sides are at right now I I hope and I think the fact that he is still planning on going on this junk it maybe they can get something done before then but I mean you see cider and Raymond and Swan as Elliot just mentioned I mean there's some other top rfas that don't have deals yet that are going to need to get done so I don't think it's Panic time whatsoever and to be honest hearing that Cole is still going to be representing the Jets at the media junket I think is a really positive sign both from him personally being willing to do it despite not having the contract and also the Winnipeg Jets having Cole Peretti be their representative is a good sign I think for Peretti that's a good opportunity for him to get some exposure you get a trip to Vegas uh you know you're the Jets representative I think that's got to be pretty cool uh for a young player and you know Elliott saying hey he wants to be a jet he wants to be here you want to hear that I don't know what's taking so long but I do think that for him you want to be in Camp right away you want to have a good season we talked about this yesterday I think you putting yourself at a disadvantage not being there not getting used to your new line mates the new coaching staff your teammates so I'd like to think they'd be able to work work this out but interesting to hear that he would still go rather than Swan you know who they're trying to work out a contract in Boston and he said he wouldn't go uh if he didn't have a contract so I don't think there's any thing to be concerned about yet but there's more to it there there's more to it there if he's not on the ice with his teammates the first day of training camp we can officially say like okay what the hell's going on here but and again Josh morrisy missed a day or two a camp uh L I believe did Kyle Connor can't recall if you missed a day or two but listen I mean this is not unusual as I said before there is still time and if we've learned anything from the way the Winnipeg Jets as well as player agents operate deals kind of get done around pressure points and that pressure point is going to be the beginning of training camp but I would suggest that maybe because of what we just learned from Elliot maybe that pressure point is actually next week or this weekend wanting to get that done and you know he can head out to Vegas and also talk about a new deal and as I I've said before would love to see that in the six to seven year range so we're not doing this again with the prospect of potential arbitration in a couple years for the young jet star speaking of young Stars we have the young Stars roster uh coming up and uh certainly we're going to see Brad Lambert Nikita chiov who I think a lot of people are excited to see after they uh you know debuted in the NHL in game 82 last year um but I think the guy that people are going to probably will have the most eyes on him is going to be Braden Jer Remis who of course came over in the Rucker mcgory trade this will be his first active business as a member of the organization putting the Jersey on in pen tikton yeah there's certainly some players to watch and we haven't really had a look at U joerger in a Jet's uniform you know obviously wasn't at development Camp he's you know played a little in the preseason last year with Pittsburgh but will be our first look he is very searched on our Channel hus uh you know we had the interview with him that you did it's over 10,000 views now Connor enlisted their deep dive Scouting Report uh it's gotten a lot of views and Y and Ken's reaction to the trade so we've had some coverage of that but now we'll actually get to see him play uh some other former first round picks Us in the Jets lineup at the Young Stars one player coming off injury Chaz Lucius and I mean his career he's just you know he's playing great then he gets hurt and you know it's kind of been a cycle of injury since he was drafted but if he can stay healthy um you know some people are still high on him Health a concern Kobe Barlo you know he's going to be there as well Brad Lambert um I imagine this would be his last youngstars hus but he's you know the veteran player Elias salamonson there and how about you know players from this year's draft Kevin he who you spoke to after being drafted he is going to be there as well so I'm going to put up the the list here a number of players but they're here Wednesday first practice and then first game is in Penticton in the evening yeah the uh you know a couple of other interesting names on this first of all the goalies um it's going to be Milich and diven chentes and uh you know both of those young men who have signed with the Winnipeg Jets project to be it could be a tandem at some point with the with the Moose now I think with the signing of uh of Eric comry um who will likely be the third goal tender I he'll be a great guy you know to mentor to be with whoever is there in Manitoba he's been there he's done that for a long time they're going to want these young guys to play though and I think that probably means that divin chentes starts the season like Mich did last year playing ton in the East Coast Hockey League while Milich and comry um presumably if it's comry I guess or technically could be Captain um play with the with the Manitoba moose U but you mentioned Elias lonson he will certainly be the defenseman that we'll be paying attention to most closely and former ice defenseman Ben zahi as well who's going to be uh who's going to be taking part in it so look forward to seeing that Kevin he who was just drafted as well Henry ninan terson Danny Jilin and that of course is all coming up absolute Thriller between the Riders and Blue Bombers is our pal coach Paul appes who's getting ready to call BC Montreal tonight lapo what's up H how are you I'm doing well yeah just in I'm actually watching last week's Labor Day classic that's kind of me as a coach doing my own self Scout and uh kind of evaluating I don't know just how I did my pacing and all that stuff because I'm still kind of a rookie this will be tonight will be my fifth uh color um so I'm just trying to make sure I'm I'm evaluating myself give myself a grade well I I I'll tell you what um I thought the I watched the game back lots of bomber fans have I think it was great to have you in and you you might be a rookie quote unquote doing some color you're certainly not a rookie when it comes to the bomber and catchu and Rough Rider rivalry you've been through a lot of those games on the sidelines I mean just what what a scene what an atmosphere what a crowd I mean that that is what this Canadian football league is all about it doesn't get much better than that yeah I I I I think for for everybody in the Canadian Football League like everyone enjoys watching the Labor Day classic and everything and I think it's the biggest thing for a lot of players that come up from the US and have their rivalry games whether you played at Alabama and you know this is the Alabama Auburn game to other people so it just showcases the best of our league and how fun it is and I don't know if there's a better one than the Riders bombers you know the biggest uh biggest uh attendance ever for that game and and every time you thought the bombers had it taken care of all of a sudden Saskatchewan storm back they get an onside kick which never happens you know the odds of getting onsite kicks are very low they're able to make the play for that get the you know the penalty on the interception to give them a chance to kick long field goal so yeah I'm looking forward to the back toback you know the last three have been really I think it might be the last four of been kind of been blowouts for the bombers so it'll be interesting to see how you know Saskatchewan has a lot of injuries up front how they respond with the injuries they've had up front to their offensive line you know I I I mean I'm interested in your perspective on just how kind of special that week is or these two weeks for these clubs and you know from a coaching perspective and whether you're in the bomber room or whether you're in the rider room for a game that was so close and you're going right back up against the same team this week what what's this week like in between the two games like for the coaching staff Paul and where do you think they're focusing on trying to get another win on both sides uh coming up tomorrow afternoon so uh it it it kind of flips and and let me explain this let's call it as an offensive coach so uh last week you you're going to game plan to see hey I'm gonna play this team here's all the things I'd like to call against this football team well some of those things may have motions and movements well the bombers might have last week all those things that they liked they maybe didn't show them at all because they're they don't want to have to deal with crowd noise and timing it up because because they have to use a silent Cadence when they're in front of 30,000 people so a lot of that package gets held till this week when it's going to be quiet they can use their cadences they can use you know they're not going to get the volume that they're going to face so uh like I think that's a neat chess match and certainly now for the Riders they've work on practice crowd noise all week and they have to have a smaller package in some aspects because sometimes you don't want to do certain motions and movements with the crowd noise I think that's one thing and just the coolest thing about I think that ride is I talked to a bunch of R bomber fans before the game and they talked about hey make sure you tell everybody that we travel and we go to these other spots we go like we don't just show up angb bable we travel over here to the Labor Day classic there was a ton of bomber fans I always was amazed at how many people traveled for that game when I first came into the league I remember the fans for the Riders were so bad they found out which hotel it was in they they would just run up and down the Halls they would they play music outside the building like say anything like the movie from the 80s with the Juke boxes they'd play those so we um my second year we actually moved out of Regina and stayed in moja because it was just such a loud environment and we felt hey we'll go 40 minutes out of the way just so we can get a good night's sleep so those are the great things about the league and and you know that rivalry is so good I know now they play earlier in the season and all that but it doesn't it really doesn't take away from these great Labor Day uh weekend games and now the banjo Bowl well and there's no shortage of Bad Blood between these two clubs it's h you know a couple consecutive games that there's been a questionable hit that uh it was knocked Zack keros out um I thought he was brilliant in the first half know one obviously pick that he'd like to have back but when you thought think about how that offense struggled for a good portion of the Hamilton game before coming up big in clutch in that last minute I think there was a real question is how would that offense look going up against they really good Saskatchewan defense in that environment and um well you tell us I mean what did you think about the way the bombers were able to move the football have Expos explosive plays that really weren't there the week before um a and thoughts on the hit that knock Zach out you know start with a hit yeah you just you cannot lead with your shoulder into anybody's head I don't care what team you play for or whatever and you know some people say well you know I I I find it hard sometimes when some fan base like oh you're being too we do not need our starting quarterbacks to take shots to the head that is something you know it happened last year we we just can't have that I don't care which side of the quarterback is playing on um I thought Zach last week when the defense uh gave him opportunities to take strikes he he hit the strikes downfield and when he needed to check it down he checked it down he did have an errant interception earlier in the game but for the most part he was moving the ball very well and he and when he had opportunities uh to to make plays he created some explosive plays now the biggest thing is they didn't have a three four turnover game that's some of the things that's hurt them earlier in the season where they've turned the ball over too much and they can't the defense plays fine but they can't score enough points because they don't have enough possession so uh the the one turnover uh the score on defense or on special teams for the second week in a row was spectacular I believe that was Nick howlet on the recovery on the the Muff punt so they did the things on the road for to get a win and uh you know it'll be good to it good to see how these both teams respond after after a short week um you know I think they probably and listen there would be anyways I mean just with the the Rivalry between these two clubs but for a competitor like Zach to have to miss that second half and the team to hold on the way they did to get him back at home I imagine that there will be uh sometimes we call it that Fu mode if you will I mean this will be uh this will be an offense that'll be looking to do what they did in the first half and do it throughout the football game um what what was it about the bombers that made them more successful in the first half than what you saw against Hamilton the week before um you know I I think the biggest thing is like I said they hit a couple of their explosives and they were able to and I thought uh you know Zach did a great job throwing the underneath stuff and you know that showing the Run game where what what's called The Zone reads where Brady uh if the end crashes on Brady he can pull it and get throws on the outside he he got a lot of those and that put them in second and shorts or they got uh first downs on first down so that's what I thought they did well um and you know the defense has uh you know the defense played spectacular I was pretty impressed with what Jordan younger's done the last couple weeks uh and that'll be once again the the challenge for Trevor who's got them can he can he be POS good on First and 10 because you talked to Willie Jefferson you talked to Jordan younger they said we have to make sure we know Trevor gets the ball of his hand quickly we know that he likes short quick passes we got to get our hands up knock balls down and we got to make sure we don't let him get in Rhythm Lao um on the other side of things like I think the writers haven't played terribly over this past little while but they just haven't been winning football games I it's been since July against Winnipeg that they last got a victory um what do you make of like the pressure on the team Cory mace to overcome some things that have really hurt them I think back to the two games against Montreal they probably should have won them both um and I'm certainly certain that they feel like you know if they cleaned up a little bit more even just on special teams they probably win the Labor Day classic um that's all good but it's time to win some football games um what do you think is you know the the pressure and how they deal with that that going into the toughest place in the C CFL to play especially this weekend well I I think they got a little Grace because how they started um so you know if they don't have that start they're looking at being in the bottom of the basement so when you when you have a big run of wins well you now you have a big run of losses that's still the way the West has been this year it still puts them close you know if not you know right in the mix for first place so that provides a little bit of ease of the pressure you know they got a close out game they've had some tough losses the last couple weeks um you know I remember the Toronto game where you know they can't get a first down they don't run the clock out uh and then you know Toronto kicks a field goal with no time on the clock to win the game uh like you said last week there are some special teams things if they clean up I think they better uh Montreal I think had a I think Montreal had a 100 yard uh Miss field goal return or a kickoff return for a touchdown so yeah they just got to find a way to finish and that's kind of been the thing that happened to them the last couple of years if you remember they lost seven in a row two seasons in a row uh going uh before but they got to get back to what they do well they gota they got to make sure they can get the Run game going and they got to get takeaways and that's what I thought Winnipeg did a good job of you know making sure they they minimize how many how many giveaways they had well I mean after such a great game last weekend it's certainly just increases the anticipation for the rematch tomorrow uh Paul app is with us if you're with us on YouTube you'll see the link Remis has put that up in the description it is a link over to lao's YouTube channel if you have not subscribe there already do it there's some some great stuff about it we had a lot of winipeg Sports Talk listeners jump on it last time coach was on so let's see for all of you that missed it the last time get on over there give him a sub um and there's a lot of really cool stuff on there um and listen I'll ask you about the team you're covering tonight in the BC Lions who were having similar struggles to the Riders until they got that big win and I think under a ton of pressure especially for Rook last week uh but now they go up against the class of the league so far in the Montreal alet who have been clearly the number one team all year um lapo what the how big of a win was that for Nathan Rook personally in the BC Lions and what do you make of their chances flying all the way across the country going up against the number one team tonight yeah I thought Nathan roor last week looked like the guy we remember from a couple years ago he was processing information quickly the ball was coming out of his hand I did a YouTube uh on about eight of his throws because he makes a decision he throws it quickly and if he doesn't like the pictures he flips his hips as quickly as he can and checks it down William sanbeck was their leading receiver last week so he's he's not afraid when the pictures aren't there to get the ball in a big running back's hand who can get his shoulder square and create first downs with his legs um and they're going they're kind of younger on defense they've got some injuries so they got some young linebackers playing because Josh Woods is out of the game been out for a couple weeks now and uh Ben Al adic is out for some time so they might have to outscore people they got big Justin McKinnis um I think it's going to be tough to travel across the country because they had a technically they had an away game yeah with touchdown Pacific and now they got to go all the way across the country usually in the Canadian Football League the team that travels the farthest usually the home team of the Montreal BC team usually wins because it's such a time change um and Montreal is coming off a bye so it'll be interesting I'm looking forward to see what n Thorp uh he's done a spectacular job with that defense Cody Fardo they lead the CFL in explosive plays and I think Cody had five of them last week against the Edmonton Elks uh so it should be a great game could be two teams that possibly could be in the conversation of the gr cup now I don't know in the anybody could be in the conversation right now so many teams close have you ever seen anything like this I mean we're down into the into the final third of the regular season and there are two wins separating the first place bombers from fifth place with the four win stamps and I think it's back when I was in Winnipeg and like 02 or 03 was the last time there was no teams under five you know like last week where no teams every team was under 500 so yeah I mean Edmonton's pouring on BC I assume is going to get better uh we'll see what happens with the U with the Elks Calgary game and obviously Sask you know Sask has a veteran quarterback right Winnipeg is a veteran quarterback BC has a very young uh impressive quarterback so it'll be interesting to see and and probably the best depth at quarterback is is now the Elks with Tre Ford and McLoud Bethal Thompson like he looked amazing last week so uh so that's a team's getting better and better they're winning games you know like the Riders have kind of lost games at the end well early in the year the Elks lost a bunch of games they should have won maybe three or four if they managed a game better well they're now doing they're doing it the other way now they're making plays and and been able to be in all their games and make get their wins the the West just I mean it's so nuts I mean you've got the bombers who are rolling BC and saskat have been struggling the Elks are on the roll and the team I think you'd probably be most concerned about is Calgary and Jake Mayer was the one guy that had stayed healthy and played all year long he's now getting the hook they're going I mean that's a it is a bit of a shocking move considering the the setup right now but this is a desperate time for Calgary they have to be better than they were last week and um Dickinson decided to make the quarterback change Paul yeah and everything I'm hearing it's more of a hey uh very similar to Trey Ford we think mccloud's played well at times but we need a spark what can we do can this player come in and help us whether it's using his legs whether it's just a different picture than what they've gotten from Jake um they certainly got to be played better defensively uh you know McLoud picked apart that defense last week they got to find the ability to to slow people down that's what Calgary struggled with um but yeah it'll be interesting to see this young boner kid see what he can do hey just last one for you speaking of backup quarterbacks um you know listen Edmonton they've got McLoud bethl Thompson and Trey Ford I mean BC now has Vernon Adams and Nathan roor like Chris str's back and he is you know a beloved member of this team but a very different quarterback than maybe most of the others I mean you saw Zack in the first half and strer in the second half because of you know his skill set and what he brings how much does that change Buck Pierce's job as the offensive coordinator when strer is in in that situation as opposed to you know what they might be calling wasach so I think you're going to get obviously a run package and I was there with buck we would have had all right here are runs that we can activate that make it totally difficult for a defense because they've never been prepared for this one so we can do a lot of things uh to you know make defenses really have a problem dealing with us but you also have to do enough the league is about throwing the football so and that's where you know strevy strer just hasn't looked as well as I I remember him so he's got to just they got to find the things he throws well give him opportunities now they're not going to ask him to throw it 40 times either they're not going to ask him to look like Vernon Adams and they they shouldn't but he's got to be able to operate when they need to get throws and you know and I think sometimes people like I watched his game early in the season when he played against Calgary and you know he checked the ball down a lot and he was like well he's just throwing check Downs well that's all that was open you know like you don't want a guy just throw it up and throw for interceptions but when he has opportunities with people open he's got to get the get some shots downfield if he can lapo always great having you on the program again if you're with us on YouTube right now the link is in the chat it is also in the description of this video uh and if you're listening on the podcast get over to YouTube It's coach lapo um for just few people in on uh what the content you've uh been putting out recently and what you're looking ahead to do so uh there's some bomber stuff I did a uh probably a 10-minute breakdown on what Jordan younger does coverage wise so match cover what what is called match coverage did a try to simplify and explain to the fans and I talked to a couple of guys for the bombers I it's good you kind of explained it for you know normal people to understand the coverages I broke down a bunch of SAS plays from the week before I did Nathan RoR uh's passes last week against the red blacks and uh also because it's a short week it just reposted um you know what what a back-to-back game looks like for a coach and a player so people get inside look into that stuff and this stuff kind of came about is sometimes we don't have as much much time on the air and you know don't have opportunity to do as many coaches playbooks so why don't I just post some up on YouTube well it it's uh listen it's a great watch and um you certainly if you were a CFL fan you'll be smarter for it coach have a have a great call tonight look forward to seeing you in the booth for what should be a great game to kick off the week with BC and Montreal and we'll do this again soon the regular season here Edward what's going on how are you how are you hus can you hear me uh I can hear you well I am great I enjoyed the NFL last night uh I'm still putting it together after a very successful trip to Regina last weekend um hey you've been you've been around this rivalry for a long time I've done I don't know 10 12 of these Labor Day games that was right up there with the best turnout I can remember from Blue bomber fans before and I mean the atmosphere outside the stadium in the stadium throughout was As Good As It Gets I mean it was obviously great for all of us that the bombers did win that game but overall I mean I think that this is uh a great point in this rivalry and what a scene we saw last week uh around the game yeah it's a real good point hus it's been talked about a little bit last Sunday and even in the day since about how many bomber fans made the trip you know you lived at hus there were a lot of years where it wasn't worth the trip to Regina because you were going to see the bombers get crushed the labor day clunker we were calling it for a long time uh lost 11 in a row but I think you know that the franchise has turned around of late and so there's sometimes and you would know this better than me hus there's nothing better than going into enemy territory and having a wobbly pop while everybody around you is in is in mourning that must have been fun um and it was a you know it was a classic game last week you know the bombers had control of it almost lost control of it at the end but they got it done in one of the hardest places to play and it just leads into this week's game perfectly right because I you again you've lived at us I think it's louder here than it is there and they I know people in Regina get upset when we say that and call ourselves the loudest fans but I don't think there's any comparison if you've been in the two buildings for those two games well the funny thing was I mean you could hear the noise of the bomber fans at the end of the game I when Saskatchewan was driving going to you know try to kick the 60 yard um listen obviously they were we were a large minority in the stadium but still making uh making their presence known um it was phenomenal and I mean the game lived up to all of the hype an absolute Thriller um and now they do it again um you know it was a tale of two halves really I mean and it was one with Zach cero and one with Chris strer good news for the bombers with all due respect to streveler the number one guy is going to be good to go and um you know it sounded like it was precautionary he's practiced all week and I think not only will we see a Zak keros that is looking to build off what they did in the first half also maybe playing with a little chip on his shoulder considering how he had been treated by the catran Rough Riders in the last two Labor Day games yeah even the last three Labor Day games too right I think we go back to the Garrett Marino hit Marino oh how could we forget about that um I really like what I saw from Zach in the first half last week h i mean he was dialed in he threw for over 200 yards and a touchdown I think if he had stayed in the game we would be talking about his best performance of the year right now and you know I realize he's had some struggles with the the lineup changes this year but I really like what I saw and I think that can lead into this week you know he was just asked at his press conference maybe an hour ago about you know if there's any animosity so to speak that carries into this one and I don't think he does that kind of stuff I mean he'll be fired up and he'll want to stick it to them but he's not the kind of guy people bomber fans know that's going to be too much in your face on anything so um I think the best reaction we saw last year to the Pete Robertson hit the headbutt that got him suspended was for the bombers to SC out go out and score on every possession of the first half in the last year's banjo Bowl if you remember that they won 51 to six Zach had five touchdowns at halftime I think that's the kind of response most people want to see tomorrow in the sign me up for that sign me up for that yeah big time I I listen I'll give the Riders credit for being a much better football team I think at this point this year than they were last year however Ed they are uh they're in freef fall right now I mean they have not won a football game since beating the bombers in mid July um a ton of pressure I think on this team coming in but I will say this I'm expecting a very different Rider team tomorrow than the game you cited last year in that even during this losing streak I mean they were right there with the bombers they should have won at least one if not both of the Montreal games like this hasn't been a team that has been getting embarrassed or getting blown out they've been in their football in these football games but kind of like what the bombers were at the beginning of the season one or two mistakes a game being the difference between winning and losing and in the landscape of the CFL especially the West right now that's pretty much the way it seems it's going to be every single week and you know just executing and not making those mistakes that have been costly for all teams when they've been losing often is the reason why teams win or or or you know take that long trip back with another loss yeah yeah you've hit on a real good point here hus uh I heard your show with Jeff earlier this week CFL 110 again I'll say it's a real good show thank you um it it's it's interesting in the in the Labor Day classic you could look at a couple of mistakes that the writers made the Mario Alfred uh brain cramp on the the punt where he touched it and it was recovered by Nick howed in the end zone for Touchdown that was a real game Cher at that point and then also uh the single that came after that by Sergio Castile that was important part in the eight-point advantage that the bers had yeah and it kind of gets forgotten doesn't it um especially when everyone was bitching about the Rouge the week before and that no oh it's just because it was at the end of the game I mean that was a huge huge point that totally factored into many of the coaching decisions in the fourth quarter right and if you got a guy that can consistently hit the field goals from in the 50 yard range and 60 yard range and yeah let him have a a crack at that once in a while if you've got the wind at your back as the bombers did but back to your point about the Riders it's interesting last year they came in here and it was Jake doala at quarterback Trevor Harris has ripped up the bombers in his last two games uh they haven't won them but he can really we saw last week he when he's on fire when he gets in a rhythm he can be scary so that's one thing to keep an eye on the other thing that's been a Fallout since the Labor Day classic as you saw in that game they lost two offensive linemen in that game their their Center Peter godber and uh um Zack fry one of their guards so they got two changes to their old line for this week uh Dante Meyers one of their receivers is out so that means another change so not only are they struggling right now with this skid they're on um they've they're banged up and that again that's sort of what the bombers were living early in the year I still think the Riders are a good football team I don't think we're going to see a a blowout tomorrow but I I mean it's kind of two teams pointed in different directions right now too and if the bombers can take care of this one tomorrow and you got the by we and Edmonton's really coming on they've got Edmonton back to back after this but you've set yourself up and who would have thought that I mean we've already talking about the bombers being in first place you know heading in tonight's game into tonight's game in Montreal with BC but again after an 0 and4 start I think everybody would have been happy just to get them to 500 at this point and for them to be in first place on the tie break it really says something about how the rest of the division is played out Ed listen I mean if Montreal can do the bombers and the rest of the west of favor and win this game tonight and they can take care of business tomorrow they'll be two games clear of Saskatchewan NBC um with only five games left in the season and of course you know I've been talking about this this week the bombers are somewhat fortunate when it comes to the scheduling in that both bombers and BC have to go to Montreal BC is doing it this week the bomber game is the week 21 the final week of the season it's pretty hard to imagine the aletes needing to win that game considering where they are they could very well be resting a bunch of players so you know if that game means something for the bombers it could be a soft spot on the schedule which would would favor them but they'd like to take care of it before put themselves in a great spot going into the bye and then get ready for that home and home with the Edmonton Elks you mentioned the issues on the Saskatchewan offensive line let's talk about the bomber offensive line and I mean how's Stanley Bryant doing I mean it was concerning to hear that he wasn't able to play and now he's out you know when Michael Shay said he expected last week I mean first and foremost this guy's such a pillar of this team um what what do we know about how he's doing right now even though it doesn't look like he'll be in the lineup uh well I saw Stanley and Gabe Wallace doing laps around the field today as the team was doing its walkthrough practice and he seems fine I just think they decided that you know he had a virus and he needs another week to get to fight through this maybe get his strength back and you've got the bye coming up so that's an important thing uh he uh he took some reps at practice this week yesterday's practice were closed and I just think they're being really cautious with this plus Kendall Randolph's been really good I think at both positions he started at at the Right Guard and left tackle spots so maybe they've discovered something here too so I don't think they're in a rush to get him back especially with Pat newfeld coming back it's interesting they get back to dressing seven offensive linemen for uh tomorrow's game because M vanterpool will still be on the roster so to Eli and that's the kind of depth that makes you you look at that lineup and think they might try to pound the ball again if they get ahead in in this thing and we might see a a whole lot more of Brady Oliva back but I think getting Pat newfi back is massive and then in a couple of weeks you'll have the old number 66 at left tackle there and that'll settle things down too well and listen I mean a tip of the cap to the guys that you know were there I mean it was we kind of found out about Stanley not playing before we even got to the perimeter on the trip out to Regina and I'm thinking like Jesus this is going to be six offensive lineman dressing some guys that aren't playing and you're going into Regina against this defense this is going to be a huge Challenge and for the most part they did a pretty darn good job of uh you know keeping their quarterback clean uh you know obviously there were some hits that's going to happen um but it wasn't a it wasn't an issue that you know was the different differing factor in winning or losing and now of course Saskatchewan is going to be in a similar situation to what the bombers were last week uh you know with a couple guys down and uh having somewhat of a makeshift old line uh the other big injury coming out of the Labor Day game was Adam big hill um he is out understand that he could be a while how does the defense look without big hill and now who's going to be taking more reps in his place uh we've seen this before Adam missed a few games earlier this year uh Shane goce's listed as a middle linebacker we saw Tony Jones take a lot of reps there and the guy he's been good yeah and the guy that's coming on to is Michael A's a rookie that uh you know he scored that that special teams touchdown after the Tony Jones hit in the Hamilton game there's some Talent there and so you know it's tough because Biggie's going to the Hall of Fame and he's a been a great player and you want to see him finish out I don't know what the extent of the injury is he was put on six-g game injured list today which not a good sign but I think they have something there in Tony Jones and Michael Iris and that's sort of the the succession planning that every team has to do you don't like to have to do it in an injury situation like this but I I think they're quite comfortable with Tony Jones and and SS playing those two spots and also Kyrie Wilson's close to returning from what I understand too so uh they're getting healthy I mean they lose big hill which is massive as Jordan younger the de coordinator said yesterday you don't replace uh an Adam big hill but I do think they like what they have there to step up and fill in for them well and and Ed just I mean you know speaking of what happened in labor day I mean just how close all of these games have been uh and the margin of Victory being so close between winning and losing a lot of it does come down to special teams and man I thought jamson Shen had a great game I mean that punt was a huge part of creating that mistake that ended up making the bombers getting the bombers that crucial touchdown that really was the difference and then there's Sergio Castillo and you know we have had the benefit of watching Justin Medlock kick as well as anybody did in the Canadian football league for a long time um the difference between Medlock to Sergio though is the extra 10 yards or so I mean mik o shade not shy at all to throw him out 56 57 60 yards um and he has been a massive factor in a number of wins and I think he was one of the players of the game on the weekend even though he only had two opportunities yeah that's a real good point so I think he's already set a CFL record for 50 yard field goals in a season with nine which is you're right it's amazing and he's become a weapon right and and and so a lot of times we look at this at the field goal percentage of guys when you scratch out your names for the All-Star ballot and there's going to be kickers who have better uh percentages than than Sergio but I mean has there been a kicker in the league that's been more valuable for him because of that extra distance he can give you the fact that he can hit a 60 yard or L the 56 yard almost look like here he goes again making an easy one uh that's a real weapon that's a real weapon for him so I think that in a lot of ways even though hisc might not be as good as others uh Sergio castile's been the best kicker in the CFL this year Eddie uh cannot wait for game day tomorrow 2 pm start things will start to get rocking around noon around the stadium and uh I don't know how what we're going to see tomorrow there there's a number of scenarios one looks like last year's which I think we'd all sign up for but I kind of have a feeling this game might look a lot like last weekend a real tight game between two good teams cannot wait for it have a great weekend and good luck to the squad thanks hus appreciate you having me on have a good day good stuff there's Ed Tate from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and from one member of the media talk about that right away but if you are planning on getting out to the ballpark get your tickets in advance and get them digitally so you don't have to wait in any big lines for walk up for Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press tonight's playoff game gold . for information on that and uh the whole wst crew is going to be down at the Ballpark tonight so really looking forward to that let's bring in Mike McIntyre from the Winnipeg Free Press Mike what is going on how are you hus I'm not doing so great I have a bone to pick with you you and I we're playing head-to-head in week one and let's go back to the online draft the other night you you and I were we were one after another and I made the mistake of not grabbing a guy that I wanted when we were going down the list so I believe I was 10 and you were 11 I think yeah and then Remis was 12 right so but then I thought you know what I'll just grab the guy on the way back up the ladder well you grabed the guy that I was gonna and not only that that would be Mr worthy who just hung 25.8 points against me last night because you got the guy that I wanted you really thought that Exavier worthy was going to last through two picks of mine as a Chiefs fan and be on a silver platter for you at 10 for the crime dogs but I only had to wait I mean I wasn't even think I honestly was not thinking of who was after me and that we had Mr Kansas City himself and so when you didn't grab him the pick immediately after me I thought I was safe then Remis did his double hit and I had him all queued up like it was right there and all I I was just one more and boom he was mine I would have put those 25 points up on you last night the the the um moral of the story I guess is never wait especially when there's a when there's a shark in the weeds well it's funny Hammer was giving me a hard time about worthy being in my roster and in the lineup I don't think anyone saying that today after I mean dude is an absolute blur I mean that first touchdown that he got was I mean mindblowing we knew that he had record-breaking speed from the combine but to see it actually in a game uh very exciting young guy and listen just on that note I mean Bills fans today must be losing their minds if you recall the Chiefs traded up to that pick right so they could take Xavier where who do they trade with the Buffalo Bills do you know the last time the bills made a draft day trade with the Chiefs and the Chiefs moved up in the first round I do I believe that Mr Mahomes they moved up to number 10 thank you to the Buffalo Bills and got Patrick Mahomes so PTSD for Bills fans and I think the entire AFC was uh cursing the bills when they saw Xavier worthy um do what he did Hey listen just before we get into some Jets talk and whatnot and some banjo Bowl um the reason why unfortunately we missed you on on Wednesday is this because you were covering the gold eyes we're all going to be at the Ballpark tonight kind of hoping we might see an opportunity for the team to wrap things up but uh in the nature of these short series their backs are against the wall needing a win uh this is a big one for the fish after a great season it' be real disappointing for it to end so quickly if they can't get the win tonight yeah life moves fast uh you know they had a great regular season they go from worst to First in their division and after nine innings of baseball suddenly their season is uh is on the brink um that game the other night in Su Falls couple couple bad things happen if you're the gold eyes unexpected things first of all their Ace had a real rough night at the office um just really struggled with his control hit three batters some walks um and the gold eyes quickly found themselves in a hole and that wouldn't be such a big deal if the the sticks which had been red hot down the stretch had come to play but Winnipeg just could get nothing going offensively so a five nothing loss and yeah in a best of three really really short series um you don't have a lot of room for errror and the gold eyes have now used up their I guess their one uh uh their one game that they could afford to lose they can't afford another so makes for a great setting tonight and of course if they can keep their season alive would make for a great double dip tomorrow on the sport front you'd have the banjo Bowl uh believe that's at two right hus two o' two o'cl and then the gold eyes uh would would play at six so uh for in a winner take all uh playoff game so obviously they got to get past tonight um we'll see if the bats can come alive a little more but um yeah it was interesting you know I how do you feel about this hust the first place team getting to pick its opponent because that's what the gold eyes that's what they did and and maybe most curious of all to me was they picked so so the top four teams in the west made it the the first place gold eyes pick the second place canaries um now if you're going by distance because it was a one game bust trip that they had to make the furthest distance they would have had to travel would have been Sous City that's the fourth place team however that's also the team that just swept a series in Winnipeg a couple weeks ago and Logan Watkins told me the other day that you know ignore I guess the final records of all the teams it was more about how the teams had played as of late and sou Falls had scuffled a little bit down the stretch but they sure didn't look like a team scuffling uh with with how they played the other night against gold eyes so that was an interesting um decision for sure Fargo would have been if you're talking about distance Fargo would have been the closest team they finished uh third and then Fargo the other night went and won their first game in Sous City so I guess at the end at the end of the day you got to beat everybody right so it was I mean did Logan like the fact that he had to pick like I kind of think that most of these teams would rather this not be the case like just give us whoever we're supposed to play yes and and we'll go and do it because I mean I don't know what the real benefit to the first place team is and certainly bu board material for sure for sure like I don't see the the benefit of it unless you're trying to minimize travel that often is the case in uh you know in leagues like the American Association but it wasn't the case anyways first pitch tonight 7 o'clock should be a good one um we spoke about the Cole pretti situation right off the top interesting to hear from Elliot fredman that yeah you know negotiations are continuing um but Cole is here skating with teammates um seemingly no animosity with the club that this isn't done yet and actually will be representing the jets in Vegas at the media junket I kind of think that maybe this puts an earlier pressure point to get done as opposed to the start of training camp Mike like I'm not sure it would be great to have him there having to answer questions about a contract dispute um but what do you make of the plan that it's still C Peretti there and uh the fact that you know we haven't got to that pressure point where anything's gotten done yet yeah I had touched base earlier uh I think on Tuesday with Peretti's camp and you know I got the sense that there was no Panic or real concern that a deal hasn't been done at this point and this is just complete speculation on my part hus although I I I think I've seen others kind of Wonder this out loud I do wonder if there's not the framework for maybe a bridge deal that's already kind of in place like in everybody's back pocket um and maybe that's why there's not a ton of concern because you know that's if push comes to of and and we're getting really close to the start of camp like that's the fallback with with the idea that there's still work continuing on something longer term and you know when you hear that Cole Peretti is going to be the the Jets rep in Vegas like that's that's a pretty big responsibility that the team has given him and that the player has agreed to like that certainly doesn't signal a guy who may not be here for the long haul that that would suggest that the Jets view Cole Peretti as a core part of their their their present and their future and that that's reciprocated by pretti um so you know I've long believed that there's nothing to to Really worry about that that the deal wasn't getting done uh I would be absolutely stunned if Cole Peretti isn't on the ice for day one of training camp that this drags out into Camp which is to say that he's not he's not going to be on the ice unless he has a contract obviously so I do fully expect this gets resolved in what are we Friday now so I guess the next 12 days which is when Camp starts but I'm with you hus I do wonder if if this might not happen sooner like maybe early next week before the the media tour gets underway because I'm sure if you're Cole Peretti and probably the Jets as well um you'd prefer that questions to Peretti are about you know the coming season and and his future and like his future on the ice with the team and all the excitement of a new campaign as opposed to what's your contract status you know all that that that mundane stuff so um but I I again I this is just a theory but I do wonder if there's already not kind of something more or less agreed upon short term with the idea that everybody is open to something long term and that they're still pecking away at that yeah yeah um have you are are I'm not sure whether you were one of the folks that said you're expecting a shorter term deal I I I still I don't know with the landscape of the deals that have been done in and around the League this almost makes me feel more likely that this is not going to be a two-year deal and something longer I certainly would like to see that I think it makes sense a lot for both sides just not sure whether they can get to that point but where are you right now as we get into September on short-term year deal or longer term buying up some UFA years no I'm on team longterm in terms of if I were hedging the I think Kenny Kenny's kind of maintained that he thinks short terms I don't want to put words in his mouth especially when he's uh halfway across the world right now in Italy but I believe Kenny go ahead it's a great time to do it he'll never he'll never hear about it um yeah I you know I think I think longterm makes sense for a few reasons first of all the Jets have the cap space right now to do it um maybe had things played out differently this summer maybe they wouldn't have um but they the fact is they have the space right now that they could take a bigger hit immediately on Cole Peretti than say a bridge deal would bring um and we know in the past hus like look back to guys like Andrew cop Josh morsey Kevin Cheval off almost openly lamented that he wasn't able at the time with those young guys to go long term with them even though the Jets wanted to because of the cap situation that they faced at the time and obviously in Morris's case it didn't backfire they were able to get him signed long term a couple years later when this when the cap space cleared up with Andrew cop they never were and it just never kind of lined up and and he was gone um but so I think the mindset of this organization has always been they would love to wrap up core draft and development type players to long-term deals we've seen them do it many many times and I think Cole profet is in that camp I also think from Cole Peretti's perspective because of the injuries that he's battled now last year you know thankfully he he had a a full season the only time he was out of the lineup last year was when he was a healthy scratch for him handful of games but if you're Cole Peretti I think the idea of of getting a payout now and he's still very young this would be by no means would a a long-term deal now negate another long-term deal down the road um but you know I think the cap is starting to go up sure there's some uncertainty about what his ceiling might be and I guess even what the capop ceiling might be but I think you know given that he's had some injury issues like there's some risk involved in going short term if the idea is that you're going to go out on a short-term deal and have one or two monster years and then really cash in well what if what if those one or two monster years are actually injury plagued years and you don't pop the way that you anticipate then what does a deal look like in two years and then how much money did you maybe leave on the table now so I I just think that it's something and again we know that colle Peretti values the organization and vice versa as proven by what he's going to go do next week for the Jets I I just think that it all adds up to that that it would make a lot of sense in the here and now because they can afford to do it because it would send a great message um you know locking up another young player to a long-term piece you can put all the young players want to leave you know follow Rucker m grity out the door put all that talk to bed and I just think it would be something that that the organization would love to be able to announce kind of on the eve of Camp here well and speaking of those young players Mike we got the roster for the young Stars tournament in pen tikton we'll have the rookies kind of do a quick rookie camp for a couple days and then head out there next weekend um and I would imagine speaking of rer mccordi that Braden jger will have a lot of eyes on him as he gets down to business for the first time in the colors of the Winnipeg Jets yeah I'm look you know looking over the roster hus there's a couple players that obviously jump out to me I mean it's it I don't know how much stock you can put into how players perform in these three games which start a week from today in pen tikton uh but obviously you know guys like Lambert and chiov who who got that call up in game 82 last year and you know I think are expected to be young players who are probably going to get long looks in in full training camp when it begins in a couple weeks obviously you'll want to see what those guys look like against their contemporaries uh but certainly um Braden joerger and then the other guy from mius and you know it seems like we're always talking about the same storyline with him but Chaz Lucius like there's a forgotten there's a forgotten Prospect in Winnipeg's pipeline he's a first rounder too and we know the Jets have traditionally hit on their first rounders um there's been a couple swings and misses obviously Logan Stanley uh um you know would fall into that camp I think at this point of his career and Christian vaselin that didn't exactly pan out but by and large Winnipeg's first rounders have been Rock Solid um but you know Chaz Lucius is a guy with obviously tremendous upside but you talk about injuries like it's just been one after another after another and he was really showing some promising signs last season with the Manitoba moose and then he got hurt again and you know I think if you're Chaz Lucius and I had a a long chat with him at the development Camp uh back in early July like he's kind of tired of talking about the idea that he's always injured and he's you know how this is another big year but it really is a big year for him and it'll start at rookie camp and carry over into big camp and you know he won't obviously make the Jets out of training camp but I think the hope is that he can go to the Moose this year and just have a not only a productive but a healthy season and you know because he's missed so much development here so he's a guy to keep an eye on as well and obviously Elias salamonson you know because there's a guy who I think is also going to get a big look in uh in training camp with the Jets so yeah makes for um you know some fun viewing here in the next week well the the Chaz Lucius situation is interesting in that you know he is just it's like the guy had a black cloud surrounding him you know every season and you know he you're right he is sort of a forgotten Prospect right now just of how little he's actually been able to play and you kind of feel like you know if he was able to have a full season and contribute and you know be on the cusp or play at all in the game it would sort of seem like found money yeah for the Winnipeg Jets because you know obviously there was Major concerns about what his long-term future is there is a reason though he was picked where he was he can actually get out there and play for a significant period of time he is a guy that could be an impact player at some point yeah I mean he dazzled at the world juniors that one year and you know certainly in in junior like uh his his numbers pop big time um but yeah he just has not as a pro player has not really been able to find his footing here yet the good news is he's still very young and from everything I've kind of seen and heard from him he's also very hungry probably with a big chip on his shoulder that uh you know that that life kind of keeps dealing him these lemons if you will and he's ready to try and make some lemonade um so staying healthy is priority one but I think there's a really good player there and you know it's funny hus like even when we talk about perspective trades in that and you know what might the Jets have to move like Lucius doesn't even get mentioned as an asset because there's just he's just there's it's neutral at this point there's just no real value there to any other teams in addition to the Jets but the Jets have not given up on Chaz Lucius at all nor should they and that's why this is such a big year for him so I'm anxious to see what he looks like kind of against his uh his Prospect peers but then especially once training camp starts here and you know he's getting in the lineup no doubt for some preseason games with some veteran players uh see how he looks he's a guy that can play some Center too like which I think people forget and he's got some decent size so you know again this is a huge year for him and you know the the the young Stars event in pen tikton again I don't know how much stock we should really put in results or they're gonna have one practice next week so this is not going to be a finally tuned kind of uh Team they'll get together next Wednesday at the hockey for all Center do some media veils and then head West um by the way for those wondering because I'm sure people have seen the pictures there's a good chunk of the Jets team um the veterans that are now in town they're skating every morning at the hockey forall Center I've got a few questions about this these are unofficial skates there's no coaches they can't be under the um under the uh you know the NHL agreement contract they can't have coaches on there these are what you'd call Captain skates uh Adam Lowry I know is out there and um and Cole Peretti is is out there as well again which is a great sign um but for those wondering we we will hear next week hus from some of these Jets they're going to hold um couple of media days I believe it's next Tuesday and Thursday where we'll be down at hockey forall and get a chance to chat with some of these guys um you know unofficially if you will before the the official training camp begins so yeah starting next week uh the Jets news is about to um to really start picking up big time around here well as I said topic number one get Cole Peretti sign before he gets to Vegas and uh we'll follow that throughout the week uh seeing whether it in fact does happen um and Cole won't have to talk about needing a new contract he can talk about a great future ahead with the with the Winnipeg Jets Mike I cannot have you pop in on wst the day before the banable talking a little bit about the bombers and Riders absolute classic last week I mean all caps classic for the Labor Day One bombers and Riders you got bad blood you've got great fans on both sides you've got two sold out buildings I mean what a scene we're going to have tomorrow down at Princess Auto Stadium for the rematch and a desperate Rider team that has to find a way to win and a huge opportunity for the bombers to uh kind of strengthen their grip on first place in the west yeah it it really is like the the the storylines are just uh in abundance here and looks like it's going to be a great weather day as well like just everything is lining up for what should just be a real special sports day St um in Winnipeg and uh yeah I mean the bombers like they they just keep fining ways and you know there's that you keep seeing it in this club that that this is a team that obviously knows how to win they know how to even when they don't always have their best they they can kind of pull it out and you know there's a lot of poise a lot of maturity a lot of experience on that team and I think you know that that's really paid dividends in a lot of situations here especially as of late as the bombers have put that kind of awful start to the season well in the rearview mirror and a wind tomorrow would just do wonders as you say um you know the West the West is as as jam-packed and up for grabs as we've ever seen it it truly is and it just makes the the magnitude of these divisional games just even more massive and that's why you know win tomorrow uh would just be um obviously great for the bombers and just devastating for the Rough Riders which that's a that's a one-two combo platter right there for the uh for the Winnipeg sports fan to not only great see things great things happen to the local Club but then to add to the misery of the neighbors to our immediate West so yeah it sets up for what should be just a a tremendous day down at the stadium and uh uh I'm sure folks who well like yourself who made the trip last week to the Bano bable I'm surprised you even have a voice yet this week H um but I'm sure a lot of folks are ready to lose their voices again tomorrow yeah well this is uh this is a very fun fun part of the calendar one of my baseball as we mentioned um Mike what's coming up in the free so hus I I did something really cool yesterday which is why we could hook up yesterday I I drove almost 3 hours Southwest of here and along with a photographer and I've got a feature coming up in tomorrow's paper on a literal Field of Dreams that has been a baseball diamond that has been cut out of a corn field um in rural Manitoba uh it's for charity that they're hosting a little baseball tournament tomorrow this thing was absolutely stunning like it's right right out of the movie uh it's on 10 acres of cornfield and the baseball diamond is pristine it's been cut out of uh it's it takes up four acres I walked around the place yesterday Michaela McKenzie our wonderful photographer uh she got some great uh images so that'll be online this evening and in tomorrow's print edition uh it's a it was a really fun story to work on how these sort of local guys um who love the movie love baseball came up with the idea of carving out a baseball diamond in the middle of a cornfield and uh I look forward to sharing that story with uh with readers and then I'll be at the golde game tonight another little Field of Dreams hacks off because our waight is over the uh NFL season has officially begun and we had a beauty last night between the Chiefs and Ravens to get things going hacksaw great to have you back in the program what do you think of game number one of the schedule last night at Arrowhead unbelievable just electric what I expected but before we start on football Friday and beer Friday full disclosure in the middle of winter I know how cold it gets at Porter Main in downtown Winnipeg because I've been at Porter Main in downtown Winnipeg I don't want to hear any more beefing from you about how cold it is in Porto and Main because today right here my driveway it is 112 degrees I don't you can see that 12 in my driveway and we have red flag fire warnings from now through Sunday so full disclosure no beaing about winter weather and Winnipeg because I'm living through hell here in San Diego used to be America's Finest City now it's a hot box the AC yeah you can just crank the AC and kick back and watch NFL college football CF football because we've got all back but I mean man I mean you couldn't imagine a more spectacular way to start off the season Chiefs raising the banner and then Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson going toe-to-toe in an absolutely thrilling game that came right down to the final play of the contest and final inches of the front of a foot on the endline at the end of the contest you know we've always marveled at the greatness of Andy Reid and the development into the greatness of Patrick Mahomes and the uniqueness and the greatness is the tight end Travis Kelce and then you see this year's addition of Kansas City's team I don't think I've ever seen so much raw speed at the skill positions as Kansas City's got right now I mean I was just absolutely ODed at at rashy Rice just looks like a very different ball player a lot of ball players still in trouble with the NFL and then I always knew uh that worthy zavier worthy the number one draft pick from Texas could fly I didn't know whether it could hold up at 165 pounds but you can't hit him if you can't catch him and he he made so many big plays in the course of that game and Kansas City right now just looks spectacular and the defense has always been quick the defense is homegrown I mean that nine of those 11 starters are their own draft pick so that was interesting Lamar Jackson looks very different to me I think he's lost a bunch of weight he looks a lot quicker than I had seen him just a year ago uh sleek and Slick I think is the way I would describe him I think the one thing that Baltimore got to solve and they got offensive line issues that's item one I think the other item is is the ratio of heavy duty run with Derk Henry versus what Lamar Jackson does with the football because Henry wound up being out of that game a lot more than he wound up being into the game and I'm kind of surprised you know they made this deal because they needed a heavy duty back to replace Gus Edwards who jumped as a free agent but if you're going to pay that kind of money don't you need to utilize them a little bit more or maybe they they didn't run the ball very well because I think the offensive front is just an developmental stage but I mean that was just an electric game and I didn't realize this till late last night Lamar Jackson is only one and five against your quarterback Patrick Mahomes so he still got work to be done and this one's going to stick in their craw for a while because they had all those penalties and obviously the refs blew a few calls along along the course of the game and then what happened right at the end of the game what a way to start the NFL season man that was dazzling it it was awesome uh it a complete Thriller two of the best teams I thought Lamar was brilliant I mean their line is not what it was at least at this point and I think if it's any other quarterback Chris Jones eats four or five sacks last night and not only was Lamar able to get out of it I mean he's just such a unicorn that you know he turns those sacks into seven eight 15 yard runs with regularity and uh was a huge part of keeping them in the game um obviously the Chiefs weren't perfect they made a couple of mistakes as well to sort of allow Baltimore to hang around uh and then we got that final win but you mentioned the calls and if you watch the first Drive Baltimore got flagged I think it was four times for illegal formation and it was lineman being too far back off of the line it it gave me Vibes of in the NHL where sometimes they say listen we're going to call this this year and then the first 10 games they literally are sending people to the box every two minutes to try to establish a standard um was that sort of what you felt I mean they're just really reinforcing certain things that weren't called for most of the time last year and trying to make that more standard right now right out of the gate yeah bingo I think you hit it on the head but we need consistency with the calls you know what they were saying last night on television was that the right tackle has to line up on the belt buckle of the Right Guard who has to line up on the belt buckle of the cter well as you go out along the line of scrimmage that means the right tackle is further back than the guard who's further back from the center if you're going to have a line of scrimmage it's got to be helmet to helmet to helmet that was an issue the other factor is a little consistency please because Baltimore they got flagged five times for illegal procedures if you will wrong lineups Kansas City didn't get any and there right tackle I swear to you Jawan Taylor was lining up offside a lot like he did opening night last year where they finally flagged him after the announcers brought it up and also on a big play at the end of the game he flinched and dropped back into coverage before the ball was even snapped and there was no flag please tell me where the line judge was position that was an optical illusion that was an optical illusion I saw Mitch Schwarz did a great job breaking that down it was actually perfect timing and he timed it so well it almost looked like he was ahead but the other guys in fact were just a little slow Taylor did take a couple penalties he was the most penalized lineman in the National Football League last year so he hasn't been getting before we go to the next game I just want you to be honest full disclosure you did watch closely what Travis Kel's babe was wearing you were watching that 10 out of 10 10 out of 10 the queen of the Kingdom came ready to go for opening night the red boots first round dra pick isn't it oh listen first overall uh Hey listen it's great she brings a lot to the game and it's you know it's amazing um we were talking about this yesterday the most searched NFL athletes outside of North America um Travis Kel's number one Patrick Mahomes is number three number two is Jason Kelce so it tells you all you need to know about the effect of her and and listen it's cool I mean the numbers are up there's a lot more I mean I think young girls kind of following the Chiefs in particular but getting into football so I am uh I am here for it I mean we might not have the big celebs tonight oh there's the look and yeah tra tra Travis his stylists are working over time as well he's got to keep up um Packers Eagles tonight in Brazil um first time they've done this before we're hearing Lots about uh let's just say a strange preparation and practice week and a strange scenario for these clubs but these are two teams with very high hopes Lee um what are you looking for tonight when the pack and the Eagles get going south of the Equator it's it's kind of like an armed Camp I mean I I saw the The Raven uh the Packers getting off the plane it was like armed security for the president of the United States so I think they're really concerned about incidents there um I hope nothing happens I hope the NFL does not have to revisit this and think uh oh we might have made a mistake by expanding where there's an awful lot of volatility in South America that being said this is going to be a hell of a game uh you got Philadelphia situation where the quarterback and the coach say they're on the same page we'll see how the jayen Herz Nick serani relationship works this year because it fell apart last year and course defensively the Eagles fall apart where they lose six at their last seven and and serani dumped a whole bunch of assistant coaches on the street you know they went into the marketplace and added third year in a row they added some really quality defensive players especially in the secondary I think a lot of those guys were going to play but the the biggest acquisition aside from the peace treaty between the quarterback and the head coach and the quarterbacks could take more respons ability play calls at the line of scrimmage the big acquisition was saquin Barkley they they went across the state line and stole them from the other team in the division that they hate the New York Giants so I'm going to be fascinated to see what the ratio is Barkley heavy duty run versus Jaylen heritz creating and throwing to AJ Brown and Devonte Smith and all that wide receiver group uh Green Bay got Jordan love had a mystical first season uh they went out and got Josh Jacobs heavy duty running back from the Raiders great acquisition um they got to keep their wide receivers healthy they've kind of rebuilt their defense through free agency and with a new coordinator so I think this going a huge challenge for Green Bay's new defensively how they hold up to everything that Jaylen and saquin are going to do for Philadelphia it's good it's going to be a pretty important game in terms of show me how you've changed from a year ago Lee haww Hilton's with us uh here on the NFL notebook keep an eye on the chat we'll open up marble registration in just a minute make sure you're subscribed to the channel so you're eligible to win the uh the wst hoodie um Axel what what are the other games that you're most excited to see in this week one slate big one on on Sunday and then of course a great Monday night or finishing it off with the Jets and Niners well let's just run through a laundry list here the last thing in the memory of charger players was they were trailing 63 to7 to the Raiders in the fourth quarter on the Thursday night game that got the coach general manager fired and the charger players have just not forgotten they have not forgotten Antonio Pierce keeping his starters in with four minutes to go in a 63-7 blowout that they scored two touchdowns late and Pier saying why would I take my starters out you know who the hell that is across the line that's their Arch Enemy charger players have not forgotten that so now we got the debut with Jim Harbaugh they go Justin Herbert they've obviously got three number one draft picks in their offensive line but that being said there's question have to be answered do they have the right running back they do have they adequately replaced the two St receivers in their tight end who all left in the off season as a un unreleased free agents so the Chargers got a lot to prove the Raiders have got Gardner mshu the Gunslinger at quarterback he's fun to watch hell he ought to be in Canada he'd be a superstar in Canada with the mustache and the beard and throwing the ball all over the place he throws TDS but he throws interceptions he takes unbelievable able numbers of sacks 105 sacks in 49 games and he throws and he fumbles the football a lot so he's probably going to turn the sucker over for the Chargers you know who are they right now aside from the new coach and and the quarterback so that's a game Denver Seattle this not going to be easy B Knicks into Seattle Broncos Seahawks against a revitalized Seattle Team on the post Peak Carrol era and just a fan support base there in the Pacific Northwest it's unbelievable so this going big challenge for bonick Jacksonville Miami they PID Trevor Lawrence 55 million a season Hustler he's got to play like a$ 55 million a year quarterback now Jacksonville's got an opening challenge with Tua Tyreek Jaylen wad Odell Beckham that's gonna be a big game in in South Florida Dallas Cleveland you got Dak Prescot and the guy that I think's a differen maker I think Dalin cook still got gas in the tank the ex Minnesota Viking he's going to help them run the ball and that'll allow that to even throw the ball more and of course Cleveland's got this mystery they don't have a logo on the side of their helmet they ought to put a question mark there DeShaun Watson did not play in preseason and was sat the final week of preseason because of sorness in that surgically repaired shoulder and they don't have the heavy duty running back Nick chub he's on IR for at least the four weeks of the season so Dallas Cleveland that's going to be an interesting match up and then Caleb Williams makes his debut in Chicago uh Chicago going against Tennessee Williams looks like the next coming to Patrick Mahomes and a unique thing I I may have said this a long time ago on your on your show is that when you're a first pick in the draft it's like going to Three Mile Island the team you're going to has no players and there's nobody left on the roster that's not the case in Chicago Caleb goes in there good offensive line Caleb goes in there they get Keenan Allen who had 900 plus catches with the Chargers to go with DJ Moore the ex Carolina wide receiver they go in there they got three running backs they got two tight ends they throw to this is not an ordinary situation first pick going to a bad team I think Chicago is going to be a real surprise team this season so those are some of the real Marky games we're talking about on football Friday going towards the first four weekend of the NFL yeah and then again we finish up with that beauty game between the Jets and the ners you know the ners we've been talking for the last month about well when is all this stuff going to get settled and it was great that they signed auk I was more concerned for them about Trent Williams uh but it seems like all of that's in the past they're moving forward but the Jets to me are maybe the most fascinating team after what happened last year with Aron Rogers they still won seven games on the back of a great defense despite having some of the most incompetent quarterbacking in recent NFL memory um who do you think wins the AFC eastly well I I picked Miami in kind of a bit of an upset and a bit of a surprise and I I think the Dolphins they have arrived I think with all the experience they have the one glitch uh in Miami is they let Christian Wilkins their star defensive tackle go he jump Shi he's been play for the Raiders this weekend and that that takes away something special in their defont at front but man they got a lot of Firepower and you know they like that coach they like the Playbook and two was developed into a really good pocket passer rather than a Scrambler run for your life type guy I got I got Miami winning uh in that Division I got the Jets finishing second you know and it's just not Aaron Rogers and you mentioned part of it is that defense just beats your brains out but they went out and they got a whole new offensive line I mean they got Tyron Smith The Perennial Pro Bowl left tackle from the Dallas Cowboys and he's going to Anchor his Blind Side and then they went out and they got two wide receivers to compliment the running back priest Hall and the young wide receiver Garrett Wilson from Ohio State I think they're going to be better than anybody believes or anybody understands it's just not Aaron Rogers but Rogers will be the true differen maker there I think Bree Hall's going to have a monster year as well we were all talking about you know Christian mcaffrey clearly the number one fantasy player I wouldn't be surprised if Hall ends up I me you think about the way that the na Nathaniel hacket offense worked in the past with how much they ran the ball setting up play action for Aaron roggers I think he's set to have a big big season and I don't know it listen fascinating fascinating Monday night matchup uh coming up uh to finish up week one hey before we go um there's always seemed to be some sort of a lawsuit that the NFL is involved in what what is this lawsuit against their own fans Lee oh it's amazing you know we we've kind of tracked through uh since we started our notebook segment a couple months ago the Anti-Trust lawsuit as it relates to Sunday Ticket Direct TV all that and the jury found the NFL guilty of antitrust violations the judge threw the decision the financial decision out of court saying you didn't use the correct formula to determine how much money the the people on in the civil action are going to get he threw the whole thing out of court and said you want to refile it refile it and have another trial and we'll see how that works out you have to use a different model to you know to configure how much the damages are well the NFL has just turned around midweek and has filed litigation against the two million fans whose names are on the lawsuit they want them the fans to pay the legal fees the NFL says we were found innocent well that's not true you weren't found innocent the judge tossed it out just because of the financial settlement you're still guilty of an antitrust violation they've filed litigation so I'm telling you Hustler I don't know how much money you got in your pocket but you're going to get notice that you're on the hook for being part of that lawsuit and you're gon have to pay some of Roger Goodell's legal fees how about that they're suing their own fans can you believe that only only the National Football League never never ceases to uh to amaze um folks if you haven't already make sure you're subscribed to Lee hacksaw Hamilton on YouTube uh we'll often kick our crew over to see what hacksaw is up to after our program twice a week uh but seven days a week Lee hacksaw hamilton.com is popping and I imagine Lee it is packed for the start of the NFL season well all you got to do is read it when you're done and you go have your coffee break just read my website hey by the way just a side comment I talked extensively on my podcast I know you guys have about Johnny hockey what those fans did in Columbus what those fans did in Calgary you talk about coming together emotionally for the family and then what the NHL and Boston College did with the GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the wife the widows and the young kids in each of those families just phenomenal they raised $563,000 in the first 6 hours I don't know what it is now over the last two days but what an outpouring and the funeral service is going to be in Philadelphia on Monday uh everybody in the NHL that I've kind of conversed with says we're going to cover it and I imagine there will be a lot of players but you know hats off to the Calgary F fans and the blue jacket fans I got choked up watching the video of it was just a phenomenal accomplishment yeah you know it's hard to believe you know it was a week ago and it still kind of doesn't really seem real uh that was a tough you know show for I think anyone on especially here um you know where hockey is such a such a big deal and Johnny was such a big star um you know it's just senseless um and you know the the guy that hopefully will be spending plenty of time in jail for taking these two young these two lives far too soon will pay the price but it was a it was a stark and um brutal reminder of the dangers of drinking and driving and um you know hopefully uh if any positive comes out of this is maybe some better decisions that'll help save others in the past but you're right Columbus Calgary fans um very well done beautiful fidil and tribute earlier this week for Johnny Gad hacksaw have a great weekend we've waited a long time it's back first Sunday go time and uh we'll talk to you next week as we get into week two yeah and I hope it's not 112 degrees next Friday when I talk to you either Hustler have a great Sports weekend chat with again pal grab a cold one Lee uh there it is the legend himself Lee haaw Hamilton give him a follow on X of course and again subscribe to the YouTube channel and make sure to bookmark Le hacksaw hamilton.com for the Coolbet Lines, Wrap up & Marble Race great content that saw rolls out each and every day all right uh couple things to do we're going to get to the cool bet lines oh my God it was so much fun in the lock shop today making our first week one Best Bets we will hit that in a moment uh do want to give a shout out to our friends at Breezy Bend for their great support of course our golf programming all year long here on Winnipeg Sports Talk brought to you by Breezy Bend qu quiet for a few days in the golf world but all roads lead to Montreal for the president's cop at the end of September I'm going to be there I cannot wait uh teams were released earlier this week three Canadians on the international Squad captained by Mike Weir Taylor pendrith Cory Connors and McKenzie Hughes will be all over that uh if you are thinking about an amazing long-term home for you and your family at one of Winnipeg's top private courses check out Bri Breezy Bend give our pal Cory Johnson a call over at the clubhouse or find out more online at Breezy b.ca uh and of course cineb boy Downs is back at it next week Monday Tuesday and Wednesday normally they'd be wrapping up but we're actually going all the way till September 24th this year with some extra live racing dates so uh plan to get out to the track free admission free parking Monday Tuesday and Wednesday 7:30 you can also make an arrangement or make a reservation in the clubhouse dining room uh by uh going online at aoy downs.com or give him a call at 88530 um why not question of the day we go back to the back to the banjo Bowl uh and we need predictions for the banjo Bowl bombers or Riders and let's get some scores in they will be you know you'll be able to go back and see I nailed that um so the why not question of the day today for not Auto Corp at Waverly and mcgilvery is who wins the banjo bowl and what is your predicted score let us know in the chat and while you're putting that in if you haven't already make sure to put in exclamation mark marbles we will wrap up registration in just a minute so last call for that before we uh before we get into it but let's transition over the cool lines while we get ready for marble time uh CFL montre is now three and a half Point favorites oo that's a big move from the two and a half that we had yesterday Ottawa is one and a half Point favorites against the Toronto Argonauts The bombers are three-point favorites over the Saskatchewan Rough Riders and the Elks I was expecting this line movement to happen the Elks are now three and a half Point favorites against Calgary now we did do a lock shop partner parlay coming off my 4-0 week against the spread last week let's try and do it again uh but we've got some better numbers on this parlay just because of the line movement Montreal minus 2 and A2 Toronto plus one A2 Winnipeg and Edmonton minus 2 and A2 that's in the exclusive section under the lock shop partner parlay plus 1125 now as far as the exclusives go we are going to be putting up a bunch of exclusives um we've got a partner parlay which is going to be Seattle minus 5 1/2 ciny minus 7 1/2 and Tennessee plus 4 and a half and for those of you wondering what my Best Bets were today check out the lock up anyways it was a lot of fun but my first four we're going Seattle minus 6 Pittsburgh plus three and three and a half I know a lot of people are completely out on Pittsburgh I think their defense holds them in that game against Atlanta and who knows what to expect from the Falcons as much as they've had a lot of hype over the course of the offseason Pittsburgh plus three and a half Houston minus two and a half against the Colts and we'll take the uh the three in the hook plus three and a half for the Jags going up against the Miami Dolphins again all of our picks and not a lot of fun banter available over there now if you do go to Kolb bet you'll see the combo cards right at the start Dusty's got a three gamer of some dogs uh looks like Brett Lo's got uh got one kicking points we'll get into that later on there's a divisional dog and then a Conor McDavid Austin Matthew prop as well but expect a little later on our Lock Shop partner parlay to be up there in the exclusives uh We've also got a teaser to go um but as far as tonight goes the Eagles are two and a half Point favorites against the Packers in Brazil plus 118 from the money line for the Packers minus 128 for the Eagles I'll be honest I'm super high on the Eagles I'm sorry the Packers I'm fading the Eagles not even going to worry about the spread tonight we're going with the money line plus 118 for the Packers to win we'll also hit our favorite Prime Time bet the over three and a half field goals we hit that last night and shout out to everyone that rode with me on my raise the banner parlay last night because we hit it and he hit it really early over receiving yards for Pacho got it on his first touch TouchDown for Xavier worthy he got the touchdown on his first touch then we did have to sweat out the final of the game because we had the Chiefs minus two and a half that almost blew up in our face but it didn't so a great start with a plus 575 winner on the first night of the NFL um if you haven't played a Kolb before use the promo code wst when you're making your first deposit they'll hook you up with a 100 b% bonus up to $200 if it's your first time and if you are already a cool B customer this weekend only a little special NFL reload bonus for you so you go to Promotions click the deposit the promo code is NFL rl24 and if you uh any deposit up to $50 will be matched 100% so if you put in 50 you'll get an extra 50 maybe you can you know throw 25 on the bombers to win the gray cup 25 on your favorite team to win the Super Bowl and then you can bet the 50 that that you normally would have all there at cool.com again promo code wst uh and then NFL rl24 for that reload bonus and keep an eye on our socials throughout the week we'll fire out some of more of our concoctions for betting the board in week one of the National Football League you have any hot picks Remis for uh for the week one of NFL I haven't dove into it I am interested to see hus how's Kurt Cousins going to do with his new team the Atlanta Falcons I did take him in the uh media League I had him last year and he was great until he got hurt I also took Kyle pittz people are wanting the breakout from him he showed up on the injury report and then did not show up y yesterday we'll see how that goes I might be regretting that pick um one other Cincinnati team to watch H Jamar Chase what is he going to be holding out and now T Higgins sounds like he's not going to play and they were you know huge FES popular Survivor pick still minus eight favorites against uh the Patriots and we're trying to think what else but how about Houston for this year how's CJ strout going to follow up last year they sign Diggs is he going to fit in with this talented group of receivers and Nico Collins and um sorry Nico Collins and tank Dell interesting and maybe the most popular fantasy team name of the Year H Hawk Tua Tagle AOA uh how are they going to do against the the Jaguars and I think Trevor Lawrence you know I think he had an interesting year I think he was better than the numbers would show a lot of his receivers couldn't figure out how to get two feet down in the end zone I think he's going to have an a good year that could be a big game this Sunday a lot of points in that one um that's kind of it it here that Pittsburgh Atlanta game is going to be fascinating I mean yeah Russ Fields everyone's expecting the the Steelers to finally have that losing season under Mike Tomlin I he just seems to find a way Tomlin as a dog against a totally untested team with a brand new quarterback the Steeler defense is the best unit on the field I don't think there's any question about that I I I think this is a close game I like the points in that one I can't wait for it hey shout out to our buddy Sam Crow with the Super Chat 20 bucks trying to brive Remo to fix the marble race in my favor just joking have a good weekend everybody let's go bombers Sam Crow thanks so much for the support yeah there's not much we can do about the marbles it is a uh it is truly a game of chance and again last call if you just popped in exclamation mark marbles Remis is going to wrap that up right away and get us ready to go with the Maestro of the marbles back and making it happen one other thing and I think it was Steph that just mentioned um well it's interesting she got an alert but there is an article out from the score uh on the one-year anniversary of our Pals over at Edmonton Sports talk so first off for myself and Michael congratulations to maddia a wanck Dusty LTE gazola the entire crew and of course bringing on Reed Wilkins and hernand just amazing to see what those guys have built in such a short time uh and the article is really neat I had a long conversation with the woman that that wrote it kind of about our beginnings um and you know they talked a little bit about sort of following our model and uh anyways it was uh we appreciate the uh the attention on what we're doing here right now so if you if you haven't already you can just check out minor reis's uh x uh accounts because of uh We've tweeted out the uh out the article so uh so go check it out all right well I could talk about these football lines for another hour but I think we've got some business to attend to Remis and that business would be a marble race with the return of you at the helm um again big thanks to Adam uh as well as Alex a couple weeks AG who were able to squeeze a couple in but uh have no fear Remo's back we will be banging out marbles right away but before we do that we have to hear from the Muse of the marbles Tristan Rivers music to make this official for a Friday Marble Race on [Music] wst it's Friday another week of Works gotten by you deserve to treat yourself maybe an ice cream kick or a bottle of Ry wrong the whole day in soax you can't deny why use that bir even for pleasure you find Lu you time to do a Mar race know best two words marel race just like marles with the punk you was your first marble racer don't SP you a rolling St Marble Race get do your mark before it's too late yeah set go all right Friday marbles is back and in some ways this sort of feels like the start of a new year you know NFL's starting right now hockey's just around the corner in a lot of ways in the uh in the sports content game we are sort of so in some ways this is almost the start of a new season that being said huge shout out to our pal scottt Shipman and our friends at Shipman Associates we uh the order is in for the new hoodies we will be getting them in probably a couple weeks so shout out and thank you for the patience to anyone that's won in the last little bit that we haven't had your size we will get those soon and uh of course make sure you're subscribed to the channel and you are eligible then if you win the marble race to win the marbles Champion hoodie courtesy of shipment Associates here on wst um all right Remo do you remember how to do this yeah yeah yeah I remember I got all the names in we got 228 names nicely done can you please add Hustler and all caps oh yeah people are saying to add in Charles Roberts going to the bombers Ring of Honor uh thej Bowl you know what great call I you know what I meant to actually get into that with Eddie but we were so fired up about this game man Charles Robert stories he he was a legend on and off the field let's just say what a great career he had and uh yes he will go into the uh the role of Honor this week for the bombers and uh what a great scene to what a great game to be honored for Charles Roberts to be back in so yes throw in for Charles Roberts as well what uh what are we uh what are we looking at today where are we going okay I pi picked a good track let me just open it um it was called funky lovely Beauty I'm here for it let me just load it and people in chat saying oh shut up get on with the marbles and uh hey we'll take our time this is my favorite part of the show after we play the theme and before we actually start the race who knows what topics we'll get into it this part of the show oh no kidding well I'm looking forward to it I mean we uh we we struggled to try to pull it off uh we we did it the last week's race and by the way I know Amanda's here right now she won in one of the more bizarre wins in marbles history and uh was pretty cocky last night just gonna say then I if now after winning in March and then the miracle win last week it could be well I we'll see what happens but we may need to do an investigation if she's able to win again um but it was impressive uh it was fortunate it was lucky we all thought she was getting top roped but no ended up getting thrown about 3/4 of the way down the track it happens every now and then but uh anyways let's pull this up I'm interested to see this uh this new track if there was ever anyone who questioned if the marble race is fixed which it absolutely is not go to earlier this week when we did the marble race for the Winnipeg media fantasy football league and you were picking 11th and I was picking 12 although I actually like the uh I didn't mind the other than the weight grabbing two people it was fine it it it is good it's just that you know getting the first pick in the first round and the first pick in the third round and the first pick in the fifth round you know there usually is a bit of an advantage but there it is fun to be able to bang off the two picks I didn't mind where I was at although I just had to keep on looking to see who you had and what you were going to be needing to determine where I went with my first pick and then my second pick but uh it'll be good Doug Phil yeah we'll definitely raid bonfire after the show um but we got to do this Marble Race first so uh let's let's get it going for a little banjo bowl a banjo Bowl edition of the wst marble race again hit that subscribe button for crying out loud please hit hit the like button already if you haven't thumbs up for the marbles in a Friday on wst and again a big thanks to Shi and Associates for uh the hoodies for prizing for the wst marble race uh all right Remo we've got 2030 marbles in it's the what is the funky lovely Beauty a brand new track let's check it out good luck to all of you let's drop the marbles and get banjoo weekend officially underway interesting cylinder start today for the funky lovely Beauty very tough to see who's in first when it comes to this sort of a start a massive crew today 230 marbles great to see some of you back hope you had a great summer now it's time to get down to business all right here we go very interesting track who is going to be getting down first what do we've got here Dave the fantasy waiters is there D chalice Matt Heyman Presley turnowski all in the mix oh somebody just got top roped Michael Pruden oh okay we've got some more victims waiters is stopped chalice is taken uh taken first place right now no coochi 51 is in the mix waiters is back coochi still in first place now we're getting down into another funnel here and into some sort of a uh what would we call this it's not quite a conveyor belt oh pesky oh we're getting some more marbles thrown over too many people there okay we have a new leader looks like it's Val Val is in first place right now Val lucanic I believe if I'm reading that correctly Val is in first we've got coachi and everyone else chasing Val right now Val has a very nice lead looks like we'll be going back into another one of these cylinders like we recently just started oh I think you got to go into that hole and fall down into it all right David Asin and Val who else is in there contrell Grace okay we're getting down to the Nitty Nitty G intelligence I believe David aspland who's going to be able to get the first one out of the orb the cylinder if you will uh looks like Val Val probably would be a deserving winner Val had been in first for a while is it going to be Val no turning around still in first place but we've got marbles on the other side who will be first place can Val close the deal yes Val lulik congratulations Val that is a firsttime winner on wst Val you are the champion today um send us an email Winnipeg Sports Talk gmail.com let us know what hoodie size you are and again couple weeks we'll have them all if you've been waiting for one we will uh we'll get him done and uh yeah I did put in for a few of the bigger sizes too for fellas that were uh that were waiting on those as well congratulations to Val yakman in second danfan Robertson I wonder if that's Dan Robertson no I think it's a guy who's got the same name so he's a Dan The Fan Robson I told him he had to change his name CU it was confusing there was another and weave been there once too uh Dave the fantasy in fourth David asplin in fifth malf sixth Robert Swanson seventh Boseman Oh sha top 10 nicely done I guess I'm not winning our head-to-head bet this week that's for sure and then uh stem insist there is our top 10 Remo if you want to just do the uh The Rundown we'll see who else popped in oh nice run for Mary Jane 13th is your boy Bruce 11th some of our regulars with some strong performances today I see farmer brains there J intelligence GP Candace Jane and Gregory Liverpool Jeff Johnson all in the top 25 that's nice keep her rolling buddy as we continue down see Kent Jed oil Tom there's Mike wi I'm sure Mike's going to be at the ball game tonight uh Charlie duo we got demart there there's sto me Bravo BR well done Hustler what did I finish all right oh top 60 I'll take that even though sha was top 10 today there's winipeg Walter Ste Scott Westman what's up Scott and just rolling through Todd for Tanny not too bad Todd top 100 pretty good there's the gch Sean lishka who else is popping in pat rathell pat probably just recovering from Regina last weekend but did a hell of a job organizing that Joey panks there's Cowboy Cowboy's fine with not winning the marble race today because he rode with me on the raise the banner parlay last night and uh we got paid which was a very very beautiful thing uh there's Yin Vivian J Transcona Legion Al broaderick what's up Al all the way to Georgie Porgy 182 and then everybody else on the list including t- will got top roped and did not make it to the finish line or the finishing bucket as it were great stuff today gang uh that was a fun track Remis we should remember that one that was a uh that was a good one funky lovely Beauty what a great name I and again I test several uh before coming I know what makes a good track wasn't the longest one people like long but I thought it had a lot of appropriate obstacles which made the winner it wasn't going to be the same person leading the whole way basically no but you know what val did a great job Val had the lead lost it and then regained it at the end so a very deserving winner Val congratulations uh and thanks to everyone for jumping on and hanging out with us for the marble race and of course uh a short week but a busy week here on Winnipeg sports talk next week though bombers are on the buy the Jets are back rookie Camp Begins the prospect Tournament begins um we're going to have a lot to get to on the upcoming season I think Kyle ballary is going to pop by we'll kind of get into more about the promotion schedule for the club and of course we're going to get ready to be at FanFest we will be there again and actually we may do the show live there on Friday getting ready for it as well so we can't wait to get things going but I'll tell you what I can wait until Monday because we got a big football game tomorrow we got playoff baseball tonight hopefully tomorrow as well and then the first NFL Sunday and then right back at it on Monday thanks again to all the sponsors that make win a peg Sports Talk happen each and every day and uh big thanks to hacksaw Mike McIntyre Ed Tate and Coach Paul lapes
