No More WOKE in IRELAND! 🇮🇪 Conor McGregor For President? | OutKick The Morning w/ Charly Arnolt

Conor McGregor teases run for Irish President hello everybody here we are Friday morning we've made it through the week and another exciting part we are now officially into the 2024 NFL regular season uh last night we saw the Chiefs and the Ravens have a thrilling game what a great way to open up the season uh but you know what they say the the game is one of inches and last night absolutely proved that now we're going to get into all the game and the details surrounding the crazy ending in just a little bit we have a special guest join the show to help us do just that but first I want to get into a story that feels very relatable well not personally but just due to the fact that I'm in I'm in Vegas right now for UFC um you know Conor McGregor we have been waiting to see him reenter the Octagon it has been years since he has fought and there was the idea he was going to fight this summer obviously that fight was canceled because he broke his toe which also is is just one illusion to to the Chiefs game from last night which again don't want to um get everyone too excited but we're going to be talking about it in full detail coming up um but Conor McGregor obviously he keeps saying this is the year I'm coming back though Dana White has made it pretty clear that this is not going to be probably the year for Conor McGregor you know the UFC likes to do a lot of advanced planning right now it remains to be seen whether or not Connor will come back but the answer is probably no so the question is what is the notorious one going to do for the rest of the 2024 year right I mean there's a lot of different things he's got millions and millions of bucks right he could go on nice vacations he could I don't know start another liquor gr brand or perhaps I don't know maybe he should start a presidential campaign maybe uh that's not my idea by the way I didn't just throw that out into the universe uh Conor McGregor is the one who put this out here um he just posted this this week um despite being a Mega millionaire living in states he obviously feels an allegiance and responsibility to his home country of Ireland he has made that clear for some time now so yesterday Connor took to social media to announce a PR a potential presidential campaign calling himself the only logical choice to shake up the establishment in Ireland so here's exactly what he posted I'm just going to read the entire post verbatim quote as president I hold the power to summon the Dale as well as dissolve it so as I said before I would have all the answers that people of Ireland seek from these thieves of the Working Men these disruptors of the family Union these destructors of small businesses and on and on and on these charlatans in their positions of power would be summoned I love that he's like using all of this language it's amazing would be summoned to answer to the people of Ireland and I would have it done by Day end or I would be left with no choice but to dissolve the Dale entirely stop the train until the people of Ireland deserve the answers they speak Point Blank this would be my power as president I know very well Ireland needs an active president employed wholly by the people of Ireland it is me I am the only logical Choice 2025 is upcoming I mean those those are fighting words uh not in the same sense that you usually hear from Conor McGregor but it it feels like he's very passionate about this um we also know he's passionate about this in the idea of maybe getting into politics despite actually having no real political background um back in December you remember Conor McGregor started floating the idea of becoming president of Ireland because he was so enraged he was so disgusted about the topic of illegal immigration that was happening in Ireland and also the crime that was resonating as a result of that illegal immigration in the country of Ireland specifically he came out of the woodwork with these political aspirations after three children and a carer in Dublin were stabbed um which were then of course followed by Massive riots which then you know because Connor spoke up about there was the idea that he was uh inciting hate speech and inciting the riots uh which uh I I think he's off the hook for at this point but um there was that whole episode at that one point in time but it was interesting because at this point in time when pter McGregor just came out speaking out against what was going on in Ireland and started you know really putting it out there that maybe a presidential run was something that he should take on himself if he wanted to see change in this country and none other than Elon Musk musk backed him in saying that he could take down his political opponents with these so now here we are months later that was December now here we are in September uh with Connor sounding more serious than ever um but we also have to wonder because we know who Conor McGregor is right he is the ultimate trash talker um is this just more par for the course for the smack talking Conor McGregor as we often hear from the former double champ um so I have no doubt that this could be causing a stir in Ireland um and even here in the United States um we are seeing more and more often athletes showing the political sides that they have to them I mean maybe not in the exact same sense as Conor McGregor saying they want to run for president but in other more diluted senses right I mean we just saw recently Steph Curry and his coach Steve Kerr endorsed KLA Harris officially at the Democratic National Convention a couple of weeks ago uh we saw Travis Kelce become the face for fizer which again doesn't necessarily say much about his political identity maybe or maybe it does right it's it's hard to say was that just a money-making move or are you really a vaccine pushing Democrat tough to say um but also we saw Harrison buer uh he didn't as far as I'm concerned nothing that he said was political he was just airing his Conservative Christian values which I guess do identify more with Republicans but he wasn't necessarily being political but point is you're seeing more and more athletes and members of the Sports World feeling comfortable to come out and show their authentic true selves and maybe show aspirations and ideas that they might have that don't pertain to the games that they play but this isn't just the athletes now it's also their families um because let's continue on with the chief's threat as they just played last night uh just a few days ago we saw the wife of Patrick Mahomes Trump praises Brittany Mahomes Britney stand firm in her apparent support for Trump after we initially saw she liked his Instagram post which set the internet on fire as we know she didn't apologize for it and now Trump has actually personally responded to what Britney Mahomes is going through even though she didn't say a word she just liked the post and then posted afterwards that she wasn't going to to bow down to all the haters here's what Trump had to say about it he said I want to thank the beautiful Britney Mahomes for so strongly defending me and the fact that Maga is the greatest and most powerful political movement in the history of our now failing country with crime and illegal immigration totally out of control inflation ravaging all Americans in a world that is laughing all at all the stupidity of our helpless leaders it is nice to see someone who loves our country and wants to save it from Doom again I don't know that Britney so necessarily defended Trump she just defended uh the idea that she's allowed to say whatever she wanted but still what a shout out right can you imagine if Britney Mahomes is in fact a trump supporter how cool is this to have the former president shout you out and maybe even the upcoming president shout you out and I'm sure Patrick Mahomes also thinks it's pretty cool right they probably were sitting listening to this together and and we'll remember that moment for the rest of their lives um now speaking of you know other policies that that you have Athletes Speak Out Amid Ricky Pearsall Shooting, high crime athletes speaking out in that fall into the political realm uh we know recently 49ers rookie Ricky persol was senselessly shot in the chest uh during a robbery in broad daylight might I add in San Francisco in which a thug tried to steal his Rolex he wouldn't give it up and therefore the shooting broke out uh and now the first- round draft pick is in a tough spot he's in stable condition but he's still recovering I mean he got shot in the chest for God's sakes and now he's going to be out for at least four games as he recovers uh but you're seeing a lot of athletes speaking out about what happened to Ricky uh and for example you have former MLB pitcher for the Oakland Athletics Mark Moulder he took to X saying this quote what an absolute hell hole of a city the mentally ill Libs will tell you how beautiful it is while they get mugged and step in okay yes um honestly that last part reminds me of New York a little different now that I'm in Vegas for a couple days but um yes uh spot on probably with what he's saying and it's not this isn't something you would have seen years ago probably an athlete or former athlete really speak out on but people are saying enough is enough and now when they're seeing it personally affecting their brothers you know their fellow Sportsmen uh they're definitely going to step up and say something about it uh also San Francisco if you didn't was recently voted voted the worst run city in America by wallet Hub that's a personal finance website which obviously complet chocker right San Francisco worst city no right so expensive to live there but you get shot in the chest if you wear a Rolex and you step in feces as you're walking down the street okay point point proved um okay moving on to some other reactions as they dealt with the shooting of Ricky persa we also saw former Patriots tight end Rob ganowski react to the shooting as well uh he spoke to Fox News digital saying this quote that was another senseless act another senseless situation where it's sad to see happen very glad he is fine that the bullet didn't hit him somewhere that he'd be in critical condition we're glad to see him pop back and we're all praying for him and we're all cheering for him to have a 100% recovery so we can go see him out there and perform on the football field I'm sure that's going to be everyone's favorite player which it should be once he gets back when he has a couple catches everyone's going to go crazy for him I'm a personal fan as well amazing um yes everyone's hoping he comes back at 100% is able to be the player that he once was of course he got drafted in the first round uh by the 49ers which says a lot about the type of player he is the type of skill that he possesses um but in the wake of all of these reactions you also have people reacting a bit differently Chad ooso for one uh we've always known him to be a very outspoken guy uh but here's what he had to say uh offering a little bit of piece of advice really for athletes no matter where they are s Francisco or otherwise there's there's another lesson in this for my for for my athletes for anybody out there that has nice items nothing nothing is worth your life no nothing is worth your life you can buy you can buy another Rolex you can buy another chain if someone's trying to take your car you can buy another car anything if you are at gunpoint you give up those possessions I don't think they pulled a gun out of on first oo because I believe he gave it up like you said think he tried you know probably tried the strong Army and got the tus yeah see H don't do that okay I'm totally totally with chadow and Cheno on this one um doesn't matter if you knew the guy had a gun uh if you see someone who is after one of your possessions it is not worth even the threat of the suspect or the criminal actually having a gun uh which in this case he did which led to something much worse than if Ricky would have just given up as watch I mean listen I know watches are expensive that's the last thing you want to do especially as like a you know big Macho football player you're like no no one's taking my stuff and just going to get away with it that easy but not worth risking your life and as we saw in a place like San Francisco there is the imminent threat uh of someone insane running around who who is going to take uh matters to the next level if you don't you know obey to their commands so very unfortunate uh we are all wishing Ricky persol the best of luck in his recovery um but all of this comes as the Packers and Eagles game two of the NFL season happening tonight are in South Paulo Brazil which we know is a absolutely Crim ridden place to play later today so here to weigh in on this in everything I just talked about we've got former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Chicago Bears Lineman Brian Urlacher eracer hey Brian how's it going this morning I'm good Charlie how are you I'm good I think we are both on West Coast time so very very early morning for the both of us so I want to thank you for getting up early and uh taking some time to come on the show no problem okay so let's talk the first story before we get into anything else Conor McGregor is imagining a world in which he would run as a presidential candidate in Ireland um you are seeing athletes more and more become more comfortable speaking out politically um talking about the things that they believe in Conor McGregor is not the first he won't be the last but what do you think about this the idea that a lot of people think that when you're in when you're involved in sports uh that you need to just keep it to sports and keeping politics out of play is a good idea because a lot of people aren't tuning in uh to hear you talk about politics or share your personal beliefs what are your thoughts on that as a former player that used to be the way it went right now I think with the way things are going I guess not only here but Ireland as well you got to step up a little bit if anyone can win he could win right I mean he's one of the most popular guys in the world he seems pretty passionate about about running for it from from what you read and I read the same thing yesterday as well but I'm a big fan of his I hope he runs you know I think it'd be a great shake up for for politics and the way things are going I mean he doesn't like what's going on in his country so what better way to change it than go out there and do something about it 100% I think Conor McGregor actually does have a shot um based on the support that he's already received so brazenly from people online people that really matter so um I imagine the people of Ireland if he's sharing these sentiments and he's not even living there what the people who are living there are feeling like okay so here's a question for you is there anybody whether from your era of when you played don't I'm not trying to to age you your years ago yeah been a few years when you played okay yeah so so yeah when you played uh few years ago versus maybe players who are active right this second is there anybody that when you see them when they speak when they share ideas that you think you know what they actually might make a good politician so when I was a got induct to the Hall of Fame 2018 there's one guy that that when he stood up and spoke the whole room listened and kind of shut down because usually you know there's 300 guys in a room and someone talks and there's still kind of background noise one guy stood up and spoke and everyone was like they were quiet and me me included it was uh Joe neth when Joe neth stood up and spoke every guy in that every Hall of Famer in that room every person who wasn't was just like quiet and listening it was uh I never seen anything like it before except maybe when President Trump talks now I I've seen a little bit then but it was pretty impressive to watch him get up and command a room um don't know what his views are they have no idea but I just to see the the reaction he got from the room was pretty impressive and to be in that room like the you know all those former former players and Hall of Famers was pretty cool to see way they treated him yeah unfortunately I just looked up Joe's age he's 81 so he's on Jo level so he's a little bit older than me yeah just case you're wondering I played a few years ago just just a few years older than Brian who played in a different era by the way like I mentioned uh when I introduced yeah thanks um okay Joe name it though I totally could see that um I mean I just imagine him wearing his big fur coat too as he's making these You Know M National addresses uh definitely could command a room even at 81 I'm sure that he would do a much better job uh even after playing years and years of football than our current president which is still weird to say our current President Joe Biden because where is he you see him like putting around like waving but or he's blurting out something that doesn't make any sense or just it's embarrassing it's it's a elder abuse it's so sad to see yeah well and now he's just it's like he's a such a past idea everyone's only talking about KL Harris so it's it's bizarre because we still have a president but nobody's talking really do we well did we or how about how about did we ever for for the last three and a half years um technically technically yes but to your point no we have not had a president for three and a half years and if KLA Harris gets into the office we we still won't have um a real president you got the machine over there sorry sorry you're gonna get me off on tangents sorry it's it's it's very easy to do yes it is especially on this subject um okay so let's get into some football Brian because obviously everyone's super pum about the NFL season being underway um you know let's just start with last night first um because I feel like everyone's talking about the wild ending of that game uh Brian you know as well as anybody else football is a game of inches right an inch can take the game in a whole different direction that's exactly what happened last night the Chiefs won 27 to 20 uh started off a little bit slow I was a little worried that the game was going to continue in that direction um but the game ended up being an absolute Thriller with going down to the final second um when it really could have gone into overtime except we'll throw a little photo up on our screen yeah see it um we've got we've got a a foot picture for everybody who's into that kind of thing oh we're not doing the close-up we're going to do a more panned out shot but you can see this is Isaiah likely who is catching the ball he he completed the pass prob is the very very very tip of his toe I mean this is a game of centimeters at this point maybe millimeters um was on was out of bounds so therefore it was an incomplete catch and that prohibited the e um the um Ravens from going into overtime with the Chiefs and potentially going on them to win the win the game uh this was a super tough ending for Isaiah likely and I feel like today there are going to be like all types of puns all over the Internet like most likely to step out of bounds on a touchdown that was yeah you know people are going to take their shots at him for sure that was a great I mean he the ball was high he was still a great catch and he try I don't know how those guys get their feet and Bounds in the first place they're so athletic you know I watched it for those 13 years I played but now I watch it on TV and the C how about the camera work by the way the camera work is is phenomenal I'm like no doubt and then you got Harbaugh going he said we're going for two I don't know if you saw that but he's going he had the two fingers like we're going for two I'm like yes no overtime um but um what a great I mean Lamar's the man Patrick's the man obviously he's been around for he's done it you know three Super Bowls now but yeah I'm glad football's back as well I I love watching I love watching college I just I'm a big football fan there's finally something to watch on Saturdays and Sundays now besides golf uh everybody is excited about that but you know it's it's really when you talk about the athleticism of these guys if you watch a lot of the players that are right on the Edge from stepping out of bounds you know back of the end zone when they're catching these balls the way that they just dance because you have to have both down in the end zone for the pass to be completed um and you see literally them on their tippy toes trying to avoid stepping out of bounds of course this was you know sometimes it is completely unavoidable and this looked to be a situation it was just that I mean but I you know you feel for Isaiah likely uh even though he was even though he had a touchdown earlier on in the game and it was mostly a a game um of rushing touchdowns on both sides last night um you only saw two rushing uh two uh pass touchdowns um on you know one on each side of the ball uh but yeah poor guy not the way you want to start the season but but still he had a phenomenal game uh he caught nine passes for 111 yards and a touchdown it was a career night for him so um still hats off to Isaiah like kid's a great player yeah they they performed well you know it was a little sloppy early like you said but they uh those quarterbacks were too good you know they're going to get going eventually was fun to watch I always love watching Patrick play and Lamar rushing for 120 yards or whatever was pretty pretty awesome as well so fun to watch two great head coaches as well yeah yeah they both of them did have good games Lamar Jackson 122 rushing yards uh 26 to 41 on passes Mahomes threw for 291 yards in a touchdown so normal normal games anyone doubting if these two quarterbacks are are back and going to be Stellar this season I think this is proof that uh they do not plan on taking any steps backwards okay game two of the season is happening tonight Brian which is a bit different because we don't often see games taking place on Fridays but you know the NFL is trying new strategies to try and bring in new audiences and this one also involves bringing in exactly a new country this is the first game ever that the NFL will be playing in South America uh in South Paulo Brazil which you know a lot of people like oh my gosh Brazil that sounds incredible and yes Brazil is an incredible country but what certain areas of Brazil are experiencing right now not so incredible there's horrible wildfires that have completely deteriorated the air quality uh we just saw X be Bann in Brazil this next week um which is wiping out free speech as we know it and then see there's just tons and tons of crime occurring in South Pao Brazil at this point in time with even the players speaking up saying we're not really that comfortable going here and now we have these rules put into place by the team to make sure that we don't become victims of crimes and then you just heard yesterday the country stated that they're putting uh more Security in place they're tightening up security all over Sal Paulo to ease the concerns of these players but Brian when you look at all of these things combined I know it's all about money and it's all expanding the league which is important and I do I can get behind that but is sa Paulo the right place given all of these factors to be doing this tonight I I was shocked that they picked that pick their destination for a game and you hear darus slay talking about how he's telling his family not to go you know he's excited about the game but not excited to play the game in Brazil we played a game in London my my second to last year that was awesome you know we had a ton of fans over there it was an easy trip it was safe number one so we walked around the city for two days but yeah I don't I don't understand a destination um I know soccer is a big deal down in Brazil I'm pretty sure that football down there is a little different but yeah I know they're trying to grow the game I get it but man they go it I feel like this is not a great destination to to um to play your first game you know in South America espe with the ex the free speech thing they got going on with the you know that Banning X and then they also talked about all the all the crime going on just this is not a super safe place right now no certainly not and um yeah there's a whole lot of reasons but it but it's tough also Brian you can understand um having played in the NFL for so many years these schedules are set so far in advance in the logistics that goes into them uh it would be tough for the league probably to back out at last minute I mean it can be done but think about all of the tickets they've already issued to the game uh all of the flights that have been booked um you know they fly into the private airport so they're reserving private space at the airports they've got the hotels booked I mean there's a lot of things that would have to be completely switched and then to move the game to Philadelphia which would have been the case because it was the home that was um the eag pr nightmare for for the NFL they would do that PR and logistical nightmare um but also just on the point of playing in a different country you talked about you played in London um at the at the end of your career with the Bears way back at the end of my career way back Charlie how did how did that work out dealing with the jet leg how many days in advance did you have to get there to really acclimate because I think Brazil is is ahead even more than um I'd have to check on the exact time difference but maybe a bit more or or at least similar to that of London us so coach Smith Lovey Smith our hedge coach did a great job we left on Thursday evening at 5m uh we flew obviously fly all night you get there we landed at like 7:30 or 8 AM went and checked in at the hotel didn't he didn't let us go to sleep we went to walk through and practice at the stadium or wherever we were at some Cricket Stadium um and then we we had a meeting and then we were done at like S I think I was in bed at 8 so then I slept from 8 till 7 the next morning then I was already acclimated so it really took one day because you didn't let us go to sleep you know he kept us up all day which is I guess what you're supposed to do when you go over there I'm not a big world traveler so I'm not very keen on uh Time stuff like that over there but we stayed up all night or all day and then I was acclimated the next day and then we came home Monday morning after the game after we beat the Bucks we came home so it wasn't that bad for us I think most guys adjusted pretty pretty good but when I went to Germany on my own it wasn't that easy I didn't I went over and slept right away like an idiot so I was screwed up the whole time I was there uh not good yeah you got to just stay on the schedule the place that you're in otherwise jet lag will not be your friend yeah play lovey did a great job getting us on schedule over there we uh I said we slept on the plane if you could then we just just kept us up all day kept us busy and it was cool it was an easy adjustment yeah yeah for sure so um okay so I mean listen the the NFL plans to go in this direction um they've said that I think every team will play an international game um by the end of I think it's in two years by the end of that year every team will have played an international game um which which country do you foresee maybe the NFL going to next I mean they've already have London they have um yeah Germany City Brazil Mexico City City last year I think or two I don't know I mean you got to think it's got to be a seven eight hour flight away correct I mean you can't go to like South America or um South Africa or somewhere that far although they do have a bye after the game I don't know I don't really know where else they can go um uh they pretty much hit all spots I mean Canada I don't know that even count still North America doesn't count and football's pretty big up there already I don't know where they would go next um I'm should they figure something out though from someone told me they're trying to put a team in London permanently like an NFL franchise over there which which makes sense um but just be I mean SCH wise would be crazy well no I guess they would they would never just move an American team and put them over there that would Ian could you imagine oh my gosh reaction like Jacksonville was like Hey we're just gonna move to London permanently oh my gosh absolutely not different yeah it would be very different um Okay cool so um we're gonna keep an eye on the game tonight any predictions for that game I like Green Bay uh I played in the NFC North my whole career um um Jord Jordan Lov a stud I don't think anyone realized how good he was till the second half of last season and we he's got a prove again this year but he's good I do like man it's hard because I like the eagles too I like I like their secondary it's so hard to pick these games you know they're they're all so good I like there's so many players on both teams I like so but I'm gonna go with thec North and take Green Bay in this one well that's very Mighty of you uh because a lot of times if you former Bears player you might say I'm never in my life going to cheer for the Packers so you know that I respect thank you so didn't grow up a Bears fan I grew up a Cowboys fan so it's not um and they play they play the Packers like every every year I feel like we we when I say we I mean the Cowboys played the Cowboys or the Packers every year so I was a huge Brett V fan growing up so it's not that hard to like him understandable I understand how is it as a Cowboys fan growing up it might be easier to hate the Eagles than you know playing for hating the Sockers makes total sense um but it is interesting um we saw these two teams go in very different directions last season you saw the Eagles have like the greatest beginning of the season and then just go downhill and it was the opposite for the Packers uh they really found their step and momentum as the season went on so we'll see we're the two uh pick up to kick off the 2024 season good match ups to start the season right two good games yeah two really good games two four good teams which usually I mean I guess it's the beginning of the Season you have to have a great game but um Thursday night games traditionally are rather boring um I would say they I I don't know how they choose them um and I haven't all the Thursday night games for the rest of the season but generally speaking it's the Thursday night games that are the snoozers so uh hopefully really yeah I love Thursday Night Football I get excited because it kind of starts my football week off you know you got you wait Monday's over like Dam I gota wait till Thursday for the games and you got a little bit of college on Friday and then College Saturday back no I don't mean like in terms of it happening I just mean from what iall a lot of times the games are slow like you have really low scoring games on Thursday nights or maybe they don't end up being as competitive as you thought and you're like damn it you know there goes guys are so beat up you know you got three days of rest and you got a play or three or four days of rest and you gota play again you got no game plan I used to love Thursday night games um when I played because you had a three-day weekend after you played so no matter what you're GNA have three days off to to kind of get you know and then you have the work week next week but it was those were fun and the game plans were so small the practice week was short so it was great I enjoyed them yeah yeah just get right back to work yep okay Brian when we are previewing this season uh you know we got to talk about Caleb Brian Urlacher previews Caleb Williams debut Williams the first round pick in the draft went to the Bears um he set to make his NFL debut on Sunday versus the Titans what are you expecting out of him because there is a lot of hype surrounding there has been his entire career literally in high school a lot of hype College a lot of hype now his pro career tons of hype and sometime I mean living up to the expectations that are set up for you are tough how do you expect he's going to do he's done it so far you know every level he's he's performed he won the highest been in college um preseason it's so hard to tell in preseason how things are going to go because you don't really game plan athletically dude's awesome you know he's got a great arm he makes the right decisions with the football the thing I like about the Bears they've done so far is they put good guys around them they got three good receivers they got a big tight end good running backs I just worry about upfront you know you got to keep him upright with the offensive line protect him but it's exciting you know this is the most excited the Bears fans have been in a long time they got a really good defense you know they played great last year continue that this year they have a good chance to win some games but I mean it's I mean who knows it's like I say preseason does you can't get a lot out of that but it'll be fun to see him go out there and live football live bullets on on Sunday you know Caleb Williams is interesting because he is such a phenomenal player um he is talked about for all of the right reasons uh just like you said uh he's always had you know a lot of people saying his name and and cheering him on praising him and for good reason I mean even um USC has decided they just announced yesterday they're going to retire number 13 in honor of Caleb Williams uh so that's two years there wow yeah good for him that's amazing good for him USC cool um but then you also hear people talk about Caleb Williams because he has some tendencies that you know some people are like wait a second like what's going on here I mean painting his nails being one of them and he made it very clear his mother was a uh Nail Tech growing up and you know so she would always be doing her nails he'd be in the nail salon I mean you know if you're exposed to certain things as a kid you probably rub off on you and you want to you know be involved but painting his nails has been something that a lot of players have given him a lot of for and uh we have a member of the Titans D line Jeffrey Simmons who claims he is going to knock the nail polish off of Caleb Williams here's what he said you Jeffrey Simmons week one of the National Football League season will be the first human being on the other side of the line of scrimmage painted nails in a game painted nails I can't wait to say that to him Caleb Williams I mean actually very clever a very clever statement by him yeah smart I mean if he paints his nails I mean if nothing Jeffrey said was wrong you know I uh I got no problem it's different a lot of guys don't paint their nails you know in the NFL or I shouldn't say in general because that's not right anymore but uh yeah I mean a lot of guys in the NFL don't paint their nails my daughter used to paint my toenails when I when I first started playing you know I would go to work and my toenails would be painted and our ATT be like Pam get a hold of your toils like yeah she wanted to paint my nails last night so not a big deal I mean yeah you know it's a fun thing to I think to poke at him about but it's it's not a big deal I mean the dude plays great football and who cares about the other stuff I guess yeah I mean if if he shows up like people expect and he's able to lead the Bears in a positive direction I don't think any's going to care what color his nails are when it's all said and done no I don't think that really matters much when you're winning football games it didn't matter much in college when he was playing the way he played yeah yeah for sure um any any memory that you could share uh from back in your day back in your day here I go again gez that a couple times I'm only like nine years older than you I think you're you're pretty young yourself just like no no no no I know sorry it's just you know you you retired what 2020 no what year 201 was I retired 201 okay but I was 34 when I retired okay I wasn't like super maybe 33 I wasn't super old no you're not old you look great you like you're taking care of yourself that's important but um when you look back on your playing days um which 2012 but they started in what what was you 2000 was my rookie year 2000 was my rookie 2000 okay so you played under Jay Cutler um he was quarterback play not under him beside him we were we were teammates I didn't play I didn't play under him Charlie always think of under Center I always think of under Center I got you I it anyways you played alongside yes excuse me Jay Cutler Jim Miller I mean what quarterbacks uh any good stories that you have um that you remember alongside one of your fellow quarterbacks I had some great well we played I had 21 different quarterbacks alongside me during my career which is not great in 13 years I had 21 different guys started quarterback Jake was Jay was awesome um you said Jim Miller was a Jim Miller's a big big radio guy now um my favorite guy was Kyle Orton Kyle Orton's from M Midwest Iowa kid um went to Purdue um just a fun guy Rex G went to it to the Super Bowl not a lot of great stories because they weren't no one was there long enough it wasd I mean they'd had like two or three year windows and then they'd be gone kind of like the birds are doing now they drafted a guy in the first round three years later new guy in first round three years that's what they've done the last nine years of had a first round draft pick the the last three years but I don't know man I had some great teamates it was fun um great head coaches as well you know football was was a lot of fun back then it's a lot different now now the game has changed a little bit since I retired all those years ago Charlie it's uh it's changed a little bit that was smart that was smart ass comment by the way all those years ago those many moons ago yeah I can't remember last time I believe it seems like 40 years ago you know I mean though I will say I mean you seem to like what's what's your what's your life look like right now like is there any recovery from footall or do you feel good I feel pretty good my my typical days is wake up go pick up cow uh lift um for 20 30 minutes jump on the pelaton for 45 minutes get in the sauna and then go play gol all my kids are my kids are all in college or because I'm so old you know obviously as you pointed out so all my kids are I got one in law school one in a one who's a DJ and one who's a freshman at Notre Dame so they're oh my gosh they're all gone yeah it's fun good times that is incredible well it seems like you are doing just fine and I know that you know speaking of your young son who's at school at Notre Dame that you're about to catch a flight to go see him I am going today watching their first home game I'm excited I don't know if they'll play or not but we're just we're going for the we went to a game last year it was a blast so we're gonna go watch again uh it's exciting oh my gosh well I don't want to keep you a minute longer I know you've got to get to the airport Brian thank you so so much for coming on I really appreciate the conversation and I hope you'll come on again soon we can talk some football and and everything else that's going going on in this wild world crazy world thanks for having me on Charlie I appreciate it take care UFC thanks um okay everybody before I let you go we're going to move off of football and talk about uh something Billy McFarland teases Fyre Festival 2 insane that's coming up or maybe it's coming up who knows what we going to happen right uh because when you hear the words that are about to come out of my mouth as to what I'm going to be talking about you'll know why I said that fire Festival two words fire Fest uh we saw how the first one went it was an absolute disaster literally uh what was promised to be one of the greatest weekends of people's lives you know Musical performers Villas boat rides private jets uh ended up being the complete opposite of that uh if you saw the fire Festival documentary you would know what I'm talking about uh it was like they took them to a third world country uh and just left them there the the attendees of the event that paid up to $113,000 for tickets um they were forced to sleep in tents there were no Villas bare mattresses there were no toilets uh they were served cheese sandwiches on styrofoam plates like where's this beautiful catering that you were showing us in the promo videos that featured Bella Hadid Kendall Jenner Haley Bieber firefest was a disaster anyways Billy McFarland who actually ended up going to prison after all of that for four years and was F TW or went $26 million in debt as a result well now Billy McFarland you got to respect the guy he's you know you can't keep him down right it's a good character trait to have but uh he is now saying that there's going to be a firefest too and it's going to be very different he says than the first one which well it better be uh he said here's what he said he said it's going to be very hard to get other opportunities whether that's a marketing job a podcast appearance a TV show or relationship oh my God poor guy people are going to be hardpressed to trust me if I put it all on the line and fail at it twice wow a relationship you can't even get a girl because of the show that firefest was oh my goodness um okay but here's the details on firefest 2 and these are the reasons why I'm not so convinced that this is actually going to go down so apparently it's going to happen on Friday December 6th that's just a couple of months away in the Caribbean where in the Caribbean I don't know he hasn't said that yet um he also said that the date is subject to change on the website so you just have kind of a very broad idea of like the country region it's going to be in and the date is subject to change I don't think I would be buying a ticket to this this sounds like a logistical nightmare as someone that needs to probably get off of work and buy plane tickets and get there um but yeah they're they're promising you know you get fire experiencing fire fights documentaries film screenings weekend trips more you get an online community with Billy and the team which no offense to Billy but doesn't sound all that exciting um but I think based on what I know and that's the only information you can go off of is that because firefest the original was so disastrous I don't think I would be comfortable giving my money to this person and hopes that they do a 100% or you know a 180 turnaround uh the second time around but we'll see what happens we we'll keep our finger on the pulse for firefest because if it does in fact end up happening I don't know maybe I should should go for investigative journalistic reasons right sounds good to me um okay everybody that is going to do it for today's show thank you so much for being here all week with me uh we've got an NFL game on deck for us tonight second of the NFL season of course a whole slate of NFL games for week one coming on Sunday which is one reason just to get super excited and on Saturday if you're looking for something to do come check your girl out on UFC um I'm not exactly sure where it's airing uh for we saw plus so much more all right everyone have a fantastic friday follow me at Charlie on TV and I will see you on Monday hey everybody thank you so much for watching as you know the woke Sports
