all right so here's the plan um I give a player option that was stupid of me okay so we're going to be doing the Michael Lorenzen player Spotlight jie Martinez has been phenomenal Josh Donaldson's limit Hitters from getting on base stay in that wind up instead of the stretch and when he does allow base runners be able to throw a pitch he's going to get a swing and Miss get out of the inning so knew what they had signed him in July of 2017 for a little under2 million when Rodriguez was just 16 years old out of the Dominican Republic yeah now he's got a huge contract and a foul ball he stays alive fast forward to 2022 for Julio Rodriguez to win the Rookie of the Year the Seattle Mariners were then compensated with the 29th overall pick in the first round of the draft in 2023 part of the new CBA enticing teams to promote their good young players oh so you get okay that makes sense because you used to see that all the time I think I think they sent who they send down I think they sent down like the blue J sent down Vladimir guer so they can give him an extra year control time firstat and then they promoted him like a week later or something now the leel luky right there insane I saw that they did the same thing with Esther re he was hitting like a 400 since down so they can give him so he can give like an extra year control time outside L what do I know noot last time I thre in the zone right there they look really good coming in but so hard to get on top of as a hitter uus batting for the second time and that strike the let's go give GL and a couple of quick he's been going after these guys consistently and as a result he's been able to keep his pitch count low throwing the ball very well right now Haner in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike next pitch is outside it's a good take oh he get that though okay a wor that's a dog experience bottom of the six now it's the short stop Josh RW here's something cool boo when they finished building T-Mobile Park back in 1999 they actually open it up I remember Chicago we open Theon at the king and then when we came back later in the year we were playing at T-Mobile Park a beautiful place great scenery from center field and I always enjoyed playing here and that's a b hit man on base to start the Inn I'm going after Shane Bieber show a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way didn't get jumpy didn't try to pull the ball he let it get deep took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit and a swinging a Miss well the hitter shows the pitcher that he's willing to go after that pitch down in the zone so perhaps he'll come one at second plenty of time at first that's a double play as a former player watching 543 double plays brings back some adrenaline it's such an exciting play and it's always a great reminder of baseball being such a team sport you're only here for the season anyways so down and here is Julio Rodriguez and that's through there for a strike Rodriguez measures 6' 4 in 230 lb and he's a former of the never mind Ruiz the set for the last half of the seventh now the righ this is a guy who is very highly regarded defensively fun to watch him control stuff behind the plate Good Game caller good at framing but it's that big arm that really stands out you come into the game knowing that unless the balls in the dirt or gets by him we're probably not going to steal anything today so that's where you want to get a little more aggressive second lead and hope that some hits some some home runs can come into play Kick and spoils the two strike pitch and he'll see another well I'll say this as a former position player and base stealer when you come into a game and you've got a guy like this behind the dish with a big arm you really have to change your approach can't try to steal cuz you'll get thrown out maybe get a little big lead be aggressive on the secondary but this type of guy shuts the running game down thank you sir and up next for Seattle Lukey just missed swinging a miss that strike one and it really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today good fast ball excellent slider but they've not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there it's in and out of his glove but he wins the foot race to First good job of knowing how much time he had there atat was in tight really challenged him in there with some competitive pitches not letting him get His Hands Extended but of course that eventually opens up the outside part of the plate and he just wasn't able to adjust Salvador Perez with one down takes a strike Sal Perez probably scares me on this Al that one close rle the ball and now it's even one and one one down B I'll start this missed no score here in the second I'll start this year probably and two probably one of the better patchers in the game probably a future Hall of Fame I think he has a a World Series if I'm not misten still it is but so far he's been really effective in this one tosses the first and a quick out Hunter rro at the plate top of the zone for a called strike nice Seasons 193 home runs that's not bad oh shitou that's a double well a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle we saw the numbers coming into the ball game but all he's trying to do at this point is help his team win and that one is Michael Lorenzen timing today good fast excellent slider but they've not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there Chris third time through the order and a couple of quick outs for the starter yeah he's been very frugal today economical with the pitch count and the batter now Bobby Whit J his righty Lefty splits there and Whit is out and that is the third out of the inning bottom of the seventh and now it'll be the cleanup spot for the Royals Nelson Velasquez just missed you can tell by their swings this lineup is having trouble gauging speed timing is everything in hitting and right now they just don't have it fires over to First the lead off set down to open to seven and now it's Salvador Perez to the plate that's in there one one this pitcher has done a good job of disrupting the hitters timing with the mix of pitches and changing speeds you want to keep that front foot inconsistent for the batter their swings arees and that's 11 now struck out look was a pretty poor at bat he just never got the bat off of his shoulder I mean you got to go up there looking to swing at some point especially once you're down 02 and at that point make an adjustment look to put the ball in play if it's anywhere close and I'm just not sure what the plan was there now a chance for Vinnie pasano there we go makes the play and that's out number three ready for the bottom of the now it's the rightel hunter rro there's a strike why the hell am I still out here dude swing and a miss and he struck him out and that's the first out and there's another strike out and those are just continuing to pile up his confidence level has oh that got him oh right now he's thinking man I wish that would have been an off speed pitch but instead a fast ball and you can tell that hurts a because it's not going to get any easier you get to the ninth got a lock down closer ready to come in froze him with a back door slider so the lineup flips over now here's here's the lead off hitter for the Royals and that gets the inside corner for a strike and strike two waves for strike this is Master footed Royals one still down three nothing last chance I'm still out here now the number two hitter drone Blanco that one finds the Zone strike one andan and at the in the Inn right through there for a strike you just don't see it that much anymore a guy being this efficient and getting this deep into the game I wonder if he's going to be able to close it out just something about that nth inning but being at under 100 pitches he still got plenty of fuel left in the T I'm at 102 now well I'm about to be at 103 [Music] uh I haven't done this in a minute but he still is able to swing at it 104 now boys 105 now and they'll do it again 106 now how now in this three ball count down in the ball game you've got to be very selective take your walk if they'll give it to you in the air out towards right thank yous it in on the and here comes Mark K as he's ready so they turn to their closer Zack it's always nice to grab the opener of a series you come into a new ball park and just sometimes things aren't as comfortable as what you've been used to the mountain doesn't look straight they
