hello everybody and welcome on back to baseball here on youtube.com/ shunosaurus Rex my name is Sean every day at 6 p.m Pacific time you can watch me play a game of baseball hopefully you're enjoying it have a good time I'm having a good time playing it uh and we are here in Oakland for the final time this season game two coming up for you in just a moment Bryce Miller is on the bound 18 and3 with the 217 erra for the Seattle Mariners picked up our 110th win of the Season JP Sears he's having a bit of a rough one though the ER isn't terrible at 425 he is 6 and 13 the Athletics are 44 and 94 and we can help gently push them towards 100 losses on the season if we take a quick look here at the calendar we can see that the elimination number is down to three for the Houston Astros who are 22 games behind just out of curiosity the Dodgers are going to be the first team to clinch a division which is interesting considering that we are actually doing better than they are it's just that everybody else kind of sucks there so we'll see uh when we can get our division clinched shouldn't be too much longer if you'd like more content from me as we jump into Play the full game or our road Navy today Ricky Henderson field off partly cloudy Bryce Miller and we have another left-handed pitcher this is like I want to say four in a row that is wild um okay you know what let's get some let's get some call-ups we're either hitting hot cold or we have yeah everybody's either hot or cold um we will go ahead and swap out our catcher this is an important series for us to make sure that we are set and ready for the next go round which is a uh Series against the St Louis Cardinals who I'm assuming will be a better team and I think might be the final team stadium we actually need to play in in a like regular season uh form I don't even know if we played the Cardinals in the Cardinal Stadium previously I'd have to look that up that'll be interesting let's see um so it's a left-handed pitcher we're going to be kind of stuck with some of these fielders uh stuck is the wrong way to put it we'll go Crawford for Bliss I've been liking him in the lineup um and then Bliss up top gives us palanco he's hitting hot that's good to see zebi Zavala I don't think we want him in the four spot but Ty France's kind of a doubles machine we'll keep him in the four spot cuz he's hitting hot um and then what we can go RA in the five that's fine we can dhus or yeah DH arus that we can put in Dylan more is there anybody else Jonathan CL he's a center fielder he's a lefty what's this what's his stats real bad real bad real fast though center fielder left fielder right fielder 94 speed I don't I definitely don't want to put him in for Julio today maybe we try to get him in tomorrow Blanco at second uh I think we kind of have everything there I think Dylan Moore and hanar the only guys will flip Dylan Moore gives us some speed so we have a rookie three hot hitters three cold hitters and two neutral the only guy we could put in that's not hot or cold or a rookie would be a lefty I think we go ahead and just go with that it's a fine lineup it's it's it's an okay lineup uh if you would an eye on here you can see is is a little above the league average not bad but I think in this one he's going to need to control that a little bit better try to limit hits from getting on base stay in that up instead of the stretch and when he does allow B Runners be able to throw a pitch he's going to get a swing Miss get out of the in so that a base hit doesn't do more and put his team behind theall uhoh Ryan Bliss stands Andes strike one just oh God and a pitch okay that one way off we're good we're good we're good okay 95 on a fast ball slve at 83 that's trouble Circle change at 88 slider at 84 Lefty foul oh just late on that damn I mean very late but pretty good look at it otherwise kicks and fires this one high in the unfortunately that'll be an out but makes the catch for the pretty okay contact that's that's all right Scot service line line today an off that knows how to mash Chris lots of power throughout the lineup they're leading the league in homers right now yeah and I think when you're facing a team like this pitchers coming in they see the stats they end up trying to nibble trying to work on the edges trying to expand the zone and so I think the key if themselves obvious they ability a bit of a funky game though I like the way we scored runs in yesterday's uh in yesterday's game I video correctly hold on hold on sorry it's kind of a mess I'm a little pretty sure that I scheduled it correctly but you never know so I'm just going to double check it today perfect okay um but yeah we were a touch inconsistent it got uh we got off to a bit of a slow start and then we finally were able to get some runs let's go Julio I didn't think that was going to get out let's goth Homer I hope we can get him to number 100 it would be number 100 for his career and number 40 for the season which is great um but I like the way that we scored the runs yesterday even if we were inconsistent with a bit a slow start we got some good runs going in the second and the third I believe it was or maybe it was the third the fourth but then they brought in a real tough pitcher but we bounced back to score some more runs and a lot of uh a lot of inside in the park runs which is always goodge now this is in the air down the line and that's a foul ball it affects the game in so many ways right your ability to come back is usually tied to power if you can deliver a huge hit with one swing of the bat it really changes when you fall behind first number3 I think this is maybe the weakest team that we'll face I don't know how good the Cardinals are but there maybe the worst the weakest team that we face until we Face them again that's ripped and this one could be ra bases round on his way to third headed for the second second St second he'll score two nothing early this is what we're looking for I like the balance already solo home run drivve in a run inside the park that's fine want to cash in more Runners on basee Lukey up next for the Mariners good power not the OBP Department late on that fast one out and a runner at second here in the second game of the series it's going to be really interesting for us as we get out of Oakland we'll go to St Louis then we have a home stand against the Padres next pitch Padres and Rangers and then it's the Yankees and then the Rangers Astros and Athletics out in front of the circle chain we've been too late on the fast ball too early on the circle change probably too late on that oh we got all turned around and tied up there struggle Lefty Lefty could get around on it and catch it out front many times if you do it's a foul B and you know a lot of pitch they really don't like working inside really well that's unfortunate that's that's unfortunate we got up to a good start they number one coming up we get the Julio solo shot isce Miller Bryce Miller he's been one of the best starters in the AL this year singing believe it a S Young candidate in the American League having a great season so far but he knows he's got more work to do I've heard his name floating out there as a candidate but I think he's just going to focus on this one today and try to get a win for his team bottom of the first unfortunately we have a maybe a better saon candidate in Luis Castillo has one loss trying to look when where you're looking for that shut down in get that team back in there to swing theats didn't really want to double up on the slider but we're doing it anyway they tried to get him to chase on a slider okay I was wondering why that lighting was so weird yesterday kind of weird to have a 407 game but it was a holiday Monday highly out to field Rodriguez sett he not a diamond Defender yesterday what the hell are we talking about here's Logan Davidson he's done a great job making contact recently working on a five game hitting streak that 95 missed up top and it's w to just missed when you get ahead in the count there's no doubt that the success rate goes up and that's what he's been doing it's made a big impact for him in recent games one down base is empty comes up empty that strike two through that fast right by him slightly elevated that's a confidence boost out lad slow down with Miller there Sean goodness gracious on right there you got the change up and still late on it you rarely see that it almost makes you think that he was trying to set the pitcher up I mean if you can't catch up to the off speed stuff there's no way you're going to touch a fast Tyler Soder stroke now the Box comes up empty with a swing there here we go dial in the timing two down nobody go nice Circle change and a much cleaner first inning today than we had yesterday get things dialed in here two nothing back in Oakland and now the DH Luis orus as the Lefty gets to work inside just missed next pitches outside Carl Dixon working the plate in this one you know we often hear and talk about umpires being a pitcher umpire but boo Dixon maybe a little bit more hitter friendly than most he's kind of tight on the corners so we'll see if that comes into play at all in this one just missed three and0 three plate appearances for zebbi zala was an easy take all right we got to let him throw a strike here before we swing with zala outat zala there we go sebbi zal oh0 for three this season at the belt fires four after that under it though under and late here's dyl Moore I'm liking the power he's shown recently three home runs over the last five games line BRS it down nice play I thought I had that one Dam that's a really nice play at third base you don't see the ball all that well going through the zone and if it's a left-hander you got a better shot at it because you can see the ball going through see the contact and so that jump isn't always on sometimes it's a little early sometimes it's a little bit late I like the adjustment on my part to just kind of pull it a little lower and strike one that's in there oh and two now and a bat like this is almost over as it begins in this situation you have no idea what the next just you can couldn't I did really did not anticipate three straight fast balls I was looking for something off speed damn really struggled there so we got the walk the wheat contact a pretty solid piece of contact that went right to the third basement hot corner and then a not great strike out from Bliss and we're back now the third Jordan Diaz Miller back to work that one hit to right hanar has a beat on it makes the grab and there's one down so here's Brown at the plate Homer in the ball game yesterday afternoon this one in the air center field should have this one makes the grab two [Music] down batting six two outs SP is empty and next is the designated hitter Lawrence Butler there's a strike they off to a great start he's really cruising out there on the mound he's got a chance to get through these first two innings with under 20 pitches That Could set him up to go deep into this game bounced up the middle and it finds it way through and a couple of those late in the game yesterday damn it that is just unfortunate what was that slider pretty good pretty good location a lot ofit the middle ground so nice job to that big hole and get a hit the M up by two bottom of Inn number two did not know who that was going to give meing under BR it in okay so that'll end the second inning one they Trail things here two nothing I don't think that was a particularly good um I don't think that was a particularly good slurve but I'll I'll take the result I guess the third Inn for six in this series couple of ribbies and a solo shot already 100 off the outside edge and that's ball one on the ground to third has some trouble with it and he beats it's got to be a hit yeah it's another great effort by that third baseman over there Diaz I believe is his name worry about stealing at the moment back safely base runner with a oneway lead right there all he's trying to do is get a look at the pitcher move had no intent of stealing on that pitch oh and we bailed he didn't go for the second okay that's a little surprising that's what I should have done with bliss I think that might actually have been nearly identical uh but a very similar situation let's just we'll put it like that where we have the short stop he's charging in it's a fast runner on first yeah obviously I mean the hindsight 2020 there but got to go for the automatic or the force out at first try to turn the double but okay and will be the clean hey we can learn from other teams as well as our own mistakes why not and that's in there at the knees for a strike that one missed I got a ball one strike that's a good take right there look like he's being a little cautious with him in this at after double in the first time up doesn't want to make another mistake kick San hard ground ball base now here's Rodriguez trying to score 94 speed baby zip let's go up by I like the way we're playing here I like it a lot B so out outside pitch I should say strike oh my God the first one out offing misses see if he goes back to the inside here we have contact swing ready he went back inside but low good take strikes he go back outside even pitch hey there we go that's foul foul it off man first one away that kind of gives us the struck out swinging that SL is slow SL now batting Mitch Han he over one swing and a ground ball the middle that's a base hit ah stay stay stay stay at second throw STS the lead runner at second two on and two out SL it's been AET at the Prett good hard and but that's aample of keeping your tight the the ability to the midle eni it's a pretty good at bat with reallyy it's just a really bad a really good really good throw on the slur that I just did not recognize we haven't seen it nearly so sorry in East throwing three of the same pitch is just is a really good way to get to me because I am not anticipating that at all those High fast balls I tend to be kind of susceptible to in general and back to back of the same thing is just a little too like oh man he threw the fast ball he's not going to throw the fast ball again and he goes oh yeah I will absolutely and that just misses it's a good take oh Abraham Toro you were on my team last year and the righty deals that one that's a strike pretty borderline Fu off dude he's not digging the call out there on the mound clearly pretty frustrated so he's going to have to collect himself a middle face hit man aboard on the lead off single anytime you rip a line drive the you feel what did at the youed your was number 57 there hold on he was 59 in the last game what the hell has happened was he 50 was he 59 in the last what let me know in the comments was he 59 in the last game that's great right there and he's down2 as he swings through it the Mariners leading by three here in the last half of the third popped in the air left side under it makes the catch and there's one gone that was a good hard fast with some nice ride up in the zone right there hitter looked like he was on it but I think that velocity at the end just beat him instead of a line drive or something hit deep it's a pop up and an easy out for the defense Dives but it kicks off his glow still hey we'll take the one it's a nice play by France a little unfortunate that it bounc so far away from him but of theond when you got the first involved in theit as well first does a great job knocks the away a really what in Wast no time there that ball right there landed in what they call the No Man's Land meaning it's not really on the Feld can it easily I it's going oh my God these strike calls or ball calls are so [ __ ] annoying and again we couldn't turn the double play We're struggling again to with these Slow Burn Innings one of those has got to be a [ __ ] strike dude what the [ __ ] of Series so now two on and two outs not what he wanted to do there boo that keeps this in alive and gives this off a good chance to cut into their defit Jordan Diaz up next for the A's right side no trouble here puts it away for the out a fcking in again we're struggling against it's now a 31 b game this isers stupid stupid ass [ __ ] umpire and Seattle Mo the pitch and that's outside and that is all one well these Mariners doing a great job boo of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way and I'm seeing very patient bats out of them that's why those Slow Burn Out innings are so rough couldn't quite get there withy and that one is lifted in the air Elliot under it and out number one on the grab and that pitch count is impactful because if they can keep making him work hard out there it May Force the bullpen to get involved a little sooner rather than later swing and a popup foul territory for The Catcher And he makes the catch and there's two away two out SP is empty now the number two hitter Julio Rodriguez swing agressive on my Rodriguez measures 6' 4 in 230 lb and he's a former Rookie of the Year here ripped to third but handled and that will end the inning Mariners go down quietly there and the score stays three to one that's the second one he's got [ __ ] me bottom four digging in for Oakland Seth Brown okay here we go Miller fouled off he was late you know these Athletics to put it bluntly need to put together more competitive at bats and I don't think they've lived up to their own expectations of the they're swinging early being AGG or I a little surprised we got that out a nice play by Bliss they are getting so many of those shots up the middle we have a lot of left-handed hitters in this Athletics lineup and Bryce Miller has my least favorite pitching selection against left because he doesn't have a whole lot that we can pull away from the pull away from the left hitters left-handed hits we're throwing sles inside we're throwing sliders inside we get the two seam that breaks out but i' love I guess the circle change does but I love [Applause] thatch [ __ ] [ __ ] two [Applause] outs goes down swing for the strike out there we way out of the SL I believe that is Toros stronger side if I remember correctly and it's pretty significantly his stronger side cuz if he's not an out andout uh Lefty hit Ste for the margeo okay here we go we were we did a really good job getting his pitch count way up there and then just right through there for a strike kind of fell apart line got to let that go brings it in one down and now the first baseman Ty France in the right side slow down they look so good but they're nowhere near they're nowhere near what we're trying to do here Mar swing and that ball smashed on a line Elliot you know what and that'll do it I will take that last piece of contact that's two pretty quick Innings that we shouldn't be having we should be trying to get into the Bullpen however we saw what he wanted to do against the left-handed rley got pretty solid contact on it if we were a little bit later on it we might be able to do something with it but we were at least able to get it into the Outfield and it wasn't a strike out so Miller back to work that's in for a strike you know these A's need to bring up the quality of their bats and specifically their swings they're trying to find ways to drive the ball with some Authority but it's just not happen for him so far zero extra base hits in the game so it's been tough for him to get anything going that pitch just misses the corner one that's a strike come on out to Bliss whips it to First only one extra pitch the bottom not that big of a deal on that slid got the out front roll over on it exactly what was Johnny Dua up next for the A's swings through that one o and one sometimes you have to keep chipping away until you break through but it's a lot easier to put runs on the board when you have guys in scoring position because they put themselves there swing and a miss and that strike two fights that one away and the count remains o and two as a bris is willing to take that will slow it down pull the string [ __ ] still got to it God damn it that is annoying slow it down even further not a good two strikes count rander kick deals and that one missing left-handed pitchers okay have a good inning that's a good take even if that slve is a strike it's a great take he had 40 High 40s pitches two innings ago next offering is in for a strike the pitch that's down and in a slider missed and a good eye there good [Music] take the pitch swing and a miss he was late strike you can see here there is a bit more of a pitch mix the first four pitches were all different which is why those multiple fast balls in a row are so confusing on the ground out to will that'll get through and he can't hang on should be a base hit Short Stop makes a good dive good effort at it oh no Davidson fell to the play ground after that last play clutching at his knee trainers thinking it could have been much worse but likely just a severe sprin remove from the game as ready to CH making a change in the pitching they not have JP Sears name in they afraid that they have to pay Sears on the pitch now for Oakland adri Martinez here five and six with a 453 ra so uh their pitcher must have been on a very tight leash one more hit and then we're going to pull him and then we go we went ahead and um struck out and got out so was this the this the player yeah Davidson it's so weird cuz they get the injury reports where like he goes in he doesn't make the play or whatever but he still gets up just fine and then like everything's fine and then it just is like uh he clutched he was clutching his knee like it just is like a dice roll every time a a player makes a play it's it's a of the DI is he injured 90% of the time no but we have a sinker at 98 a circle change at 85 and a slider at 85 out roul nobody out run at first just miss that one said it's going to be a double play damn that's pretty awful out perfectly got the ground ball double play and that changes the complexion of this inning entirely sebbi Zavala getting ready to hit out to Center saala we were right there I want to get you a hit I really do we're going to have pretty limited opportunities unless we absolutely need you Mar I don't believe we'll have a day off until Monday yeah because it'll be this is the game that goes up Tuesday and game three Wednesday game four Thursday weekend set the wi the kick the pitch there's the strike on the ground right side and that squirts through so a man on base to Inn that dive just looked so slow he makes so many good plays over there but that one didn't look good so we have uh kind of let this team stick around we haven't had great at we've had some rough luck here and there and Diaz has been part of that bad tight spin seems like the hitters aren't picking it up out of the hand swing and a miss struck him out couldn't catch up to the heater dominating strike out there on just three pitches and that's what a good power pitcher can do to you he's hitting his spots filling up the strike zone sometimes he bats over before it really begins Brown in the box now take strike one with the tying run at the plate here in the bottom of the six now this team is definitely looking for a big swing of the right here try to CL that but you know at the very least there we go there's a nice strike all interesting he's looking very comfortable out of the stretch after giving up the lead off single backto back strikeout so they haven't been able to move that run up get him in scoring position and try to have a better chance of scoring I tell you good job so far on the m just need one more out Butler up for the third time and takes ball one just missed first pitch fine well struck right field that's back there and that one is gone he sends it out of here home run number five on the season why you stack your [ __ ] lineups like this God sorry [ __ ] awful pitch here is where what is your Zone [ __ ] off that that was a strike and the other pitch wasn't God damn it one and there's a foul ball and the pitch o that one went straight back and got her ight in The Mask let's hope he's okay and there's a rocket into the Outfield so a two out Knock keeps theive [ __ ] home run that is why you need those [ __ ] double plays God damn it strike in there and that's a stolen base not even close I can't hear it there's no [ __ ] audio audio que God it's so annoying righty to the plate swing and a miss as he was late that time more more guys are looking to SLO regardless of the count and this situation will keep a close eye on his approach swing and he popped it up pulls it down and he makes the catch and the Inn is over the two regroup we've given up seven hitsue I mean it was an awful pitch it was a [ __ ] horrendous pitch all set for the start of the inning here's the third baseman Dylan more the pitch problem is that we didn't take more of an advantage of that we B load two outs was that last CH ands a slider up godamn Circle change the godamn [ __ ] Circle change would chase that popped up foul territory behind the that Sinker was not as low as I thought it was grab one away here's the Mariners leadoff man Ryan Bliss a swing and a miss and and that's strike one there's a certain point where you have to commit to what you think you see and he guessed wrong right there nasty slider with just terrific fight at the end missed with a change up yeah they stack that with four out of five lefties true lefties and then the switch hitter okay we do have three straight righties coming up so I think we go with Brash and Spire one all tied the top of Inn number seven Jack Swing he went too far and it's a strike one ball two [Applause] St the short stop takes a ball line drive and it goes just foul one down Bas is empty ground ball left side [ __ ] me we're just doing nothing against this team lately what is happening we had like we had a couple good Innings we had a good start to this game but we have not been able to push it through shy of that Milestone and he swings and misses at the initial offering trying to keep good speed off the bases two outs and downstairs got to be less tempted problem is we're looking in the bottom part of the Zone automatically next one off the pl inside good take technically thrown three balls really SW that next offing is outs first pitch strike from the pitcher but then no Panic at all by The Hitter very patient showing good discipline now he's in the driver seat with the 3-1 count and here it comes swing in a Miss CH as he was out front that time that's fineco and how big were those plays at third base early in this game B right side takes himself to the and that'll do it that Circle chain is a nightmare I just don't understand why I can't see it very well it's like I'm just too early on it I think having a sinker and a circle change together is maybe the problem we are not giv this so out of the comes the rander Matt rash runs but sometimes you got to shorten up just like that can't be too aggressive here and fou off that was the correct aggressive we just needed to hold back a little bit darn it in there for a strike up next okay he foul off the circle change the goad board at first nobody out double play ball to second's out got it in sometimes dou plays I feel like we've been doing a better job at avoiding the double plays lately but it's started to come back and bite us in a little bit of a frustrating way it's a circle change right at the bottom part of the zone chiger and ball one to the right fielder wasn't like his first major league hit or anything um we scored one in the third and I guess we gave one right back up that seems oh no cuz we scored two in the first okay that's why I got confused uh we scored two in the first one in the third and we gave up one in the bottom of the third but it's that I believe it's the fourth and fifth inning in here where it got real weird where we just swung at everything and then you would look at you know just all with too many goose eggs they brought in a pitcher who gets the loss as Adrian Martinez I don't know why they left him in for so long he pitched pretty well but we finally were able to get to him uh three hits in five innings he struck out two did walk one no earned on his line that'll switch when the loading screen hits Muno picks up
