YOU MUST BE EXHAUSTED. YOU HEARD THE SPEECHES. YOU SPOKE TO THE DELEGATES. WHAT IS EVERYBODY'S TAKE ON THE CONVENTION? SENATOR, I TURN TO YOU FIRST. >> IT WAS BITTERSWEET. WE THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO ELECT A WOMAN IN 2016. THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. THAT WOMAN STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE AND HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK. EVERYBODY TALKS ABOUT BIDEN PASSING THE TORCH, GUESS WHAT? HILLARY PASSED THE TORCH TO A NEW GENERATION OF WOMEN LEADERS. SHE WAS ELOQUENT. I THOUGHT SHE GAVE AN INCREDIBLE SPEECH. IT WAS A MOMENT THAT I THINK WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS WE LOOK AT WOMEN POLITICIANS AND LEADERS. >> WHAT DO YOU THINK? >> SPEAKING OF WOMEN LEADERS, I WAS FASCINATED BY THE WARM RECEPTION TO NANCY PELOSI. SHE PASSED THE TORCH TO HAKEEM JEFFRIES NOW THAT THE MINORITY LEADER -- THERE WAS SOME QUESTION AFTER SHE BASICALLY PUSHED BIDEN OUT OF THE RACE WHAT THE RESPONSE WOULD BE FROM THE DELEGATES? THEY LOVED HER. HER SPEECH WAS NOT THE MOST GLOWING OF THE SPEECH BUT SHE PROVED HERSELF ONCE AGAIN AS A GODMOTHER OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. ALSO, THE GODFATHER. >> SHE IS GODMOTHER AND GODFATHER. THIS WAS KAMALA'S CHANCE TO INTRODUCE HERSELF AND TO EXPLAIN WHY THE AMERICAN PEOPLE SHOULD CHOOSE HER. >> I THINK THERE WERE A LOT OF INTENTIONAL THINGS THAT WERE DONE TO PREVENT -- SHE SAID BETWEEN TWO FLAGS. HER SPEECH HAD A LOT OF THESE KIND OF STATE OF THE UNION QUALITIES TO IT. I ALSO THOUGHT THAT WHAT SHE DID THAT WAS REALLY SMART, SHE REALLY MADE -- THIS IS THE LARGER THEME OF THE CONVENTION, THERE WERE A LOT OF THINGS THAT REPUBLICANS HAVE ABANDONED AND DEMOCRATS PICKED THEM UP. PAGE URGES HIM. FOOTBALL. THE CASE THAT THESE ARE PROUD AMERICANS. YOU SAW A LOT OF THESE THEMES. MOSTLY HER SPEECH WAS REALLY PROSECUTING THIS CASE AGAIN. SHE SAID, THERE WAS A GREAT LINE WHERE SHE SAID, I REPRESENT THE PEOPLE. I AM FURTHER PEOPLE. I THOUGHT THAT WAS REALLY IMPORTANT. >> DIVERSITY IS THE MAIN TENANT OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. WHEN WE SAW VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS SPEAK LAST NIGHT, SHE MADE NO MENTION OF THE FACT THAT SHE WOULD BE THE FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT. THAT HAD TO BE BY DESIGN. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE FACT SHE DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT? >> SHE CAME READY FOR BUSINESS. WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE AUDIENCE AND YOU SEE WHO WAS IN ATTENDANCE, I COULDN'T HELP BUT THINK ABOUT HUGHES, I HEAR AMERICA SINGING. RECLAIMING WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN AMERICAN. WE TALKED A LOT ABOUT THE IDEA OF PASSING THE TORCH. THE OBAMA'S RING THE BRIDGE BETWEEN THE PELOSI'S AND CLINTON'S. WES MOORE, JASMINE CROCKETT, FROM TEXAS. THE DJS, THE ROLLCALL, SHE DID NOT NEED TO PROJECT ANYTHING OF HISTORY BEING CLAIMED OR RECLAIMED. IT WAS EVIDENT EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. TO SEE THAT MANY AMERICAN FLAGS, FOR A LONG TIME THE AMERICAN FLAG HAS BECOME SYNONYMOUS WITH SOMETHING SIMILAR, NOT THE CONFEDERATE FLAG, BUT A SCARY SYMBOL. TO RECLAIM IT AND TO HAVE THE LINEUP OF PEOPLE THERE, THAT SAID EVERYTHING WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE IDEA OF WHAT THE MOMENT MEANS. ESPECIALLY TO DIVERSIFY AMERICA. SHE MET MOLLY, REPUBLICAN SAY EVERYTHING IS DE I. YOU THINK IT WAS BY DESIGN SHE MADE NO MENTION OF THE FACT SHE WILL BE THE FIRST FEMALE, THE FIRST BLACK, PRESIDENT? YOU KNOW THAT IT WILL BE THE TOP THING THEY WILL TALK ABOUT. >> SHE DID NOT HAVE TO SAY IT. WHEN YOU WALK AROUND THE HALL, THOSE WOMEN AND THE DELEGATES -- THEY FELT IT. SO MANY OF THESE WOMEN CAME OVER TO ME, IT WAS PALPABLE. THEY DID NOT NEED TO SAY ANYTHING. SHE WAS DOING IT. I THINK THAT IS THE REAL CHANGE FROM HILLARY CLINTON -- SHE DID GREAT. THAT WAS A PASS. WE NOW SEE WOMEN DO THIS. SHE DID NOT NEED TO SAY IT. YOU SAW AN INFECTIOUS ENTHUSIASM AMONG THE DELEGATES AND THE WOMEN VOLUNTEERING. THAT REALLY WAS MOVING AND EXCITING. >> HEIDI, I KNOW YOU WILL HAVE A RESPONSE. THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, PEGGY WROTE, DEMOCRATS STOLE THE IDEA OF PATRIOTISM. THOSE ARE TRADITIONALLY REPUBLICAN THINGS. DO YOU THINK THEY STOLE THEM? >> I DIDN'T KNOW THAT FAITH AND PATRIOTISM WERE REPUBLICAN? I THINK THAT THEY STOLE THAT FROM US. THAT HAS NEVER BEEN TRUE. THIS CONVENTION HOPEFULLY STOP THAT. WE SHOULD ALL THINK ADAM KINZINGER. WHEN HE STOOD UP AND SAID, GUESS WHAT, I AM A REPUBLICAN. I KNOW DEMOCRATS AND THEY ARE VERY PATRIOTIC. YOU HAD SEEN OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THROUGH SERVICE IN THE COUNTRY. TO SUGGEST THAT WE STOLE IT FROM THE REPUBLICANS -- IS THAT SOMETHING THAT THEY OWN? THEY DO NOT OWN THE FLAG OR PATRIOTISM. THEY CERTAINLY DO NOT OWN MY CHURCH. TWO, BAD. >> HEIDI, WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON TIM WALZ? FREEDOM, FAMILY, FOOTBALL. THAT WAS HIS NAME I WAS A NIGHT. >> I ACCUSE THEY WILL -- TAKING FOOTBALL. I HAVE BEEN A STRONG ADVOCATE FOR TIM WALZ. I BELIEVE ONE OF THE REASONS WHY WE HAVE NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY BECAME A MAJORITY, BECAUSE WE IGNORED RURAL AMERICA. I KNOW THEY THINK THEY RAISED THIS ISSUE WITH JD VANCE , HE HAS NOT LIVED IN SINCE HE WAS 18. THIS IS A GUY WHO TAUGHT IN HIGH SCHOOL AND COACHED FOOTBALL. WHEN HE WAS PRESENTED TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC, HE WAS THE MOST POPULAR IN TERMS OF FAVORABILITY. I THINK HE WAS AN EXCELLENT CHOICE. >> JOHN, HOW MUCH DID TIM WALZ AND HIS PERSONA MAKE REPUBLICANS UNRAVEL? THE MOST DAMNING THING THEY COULD SAY ABOUT HIM, IS THAT HE LIED. HE WAS NOT A FOOTBALL COACH. HE WAS AN ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH. MAYBE A DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR? >> THAT'S LIKE SAYING SOMEBODY WAS NOT A BROADCASTER, THEY WERE JUST ON TV. RIGHT? IT IS RIDICULOUS. I THINK THEY GENERALLY ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE EXCITEMENT THAT DEMOCRATS HAVE FOR THIS TICKET. THEY SAY THAT THIS IS SCARY. DONALD TRUMP THINKS IT IS SCARY. PART OF THE REASON IS CONNECTED TO WHY SHE DIDN'T TALK ABOUT BECOMING THE FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT. THERE IS NO IMAGINATION GAP. YOU CAN LOOK AT HER STANDING THERE IN FRONT OF THE CONVENTION, YOU CAN LOOK AT HER IN FRONT OF THE PODIUM, THERE IS NO IMAGINATION GAP BETWEEN HARRIS AND THE PRESIDENCY. THAT IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN MIND AND YOUR LIFETIME, THERE IS NO DIFFICULTY LOOKING AT A CANDIDATE WHO HAPPENS TO BE A WOMAN AND BLACK AND SAYING THAT THAT PERSON COULD BE IN THE PRESIDENCY. KAMALA HARRIS CARRIES HERSELF WITH SUCH DIGNITY AND POISE, THAT I THINK THAT IS DOUBLE THE CASE. >> GOING BACK TO PATRIOTISM, THERE WERE SO MANY CHANCES -- CHANCING, USA, IF YOU LOOK CLOSE YOU MIGHT'VE THOUGHT YOU WERE AT THE RNC. WE SAW VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS PRESENT A UNIFIED PARTY. WITH A CENTRIST PRESENTATION. DO YOU THINK A POLICY FOLLOWS? >> I ABSOLUTELY THINK HER POLICIES ARE PROFAMILY. PRO-MIDDLE-CLASS. YOU COULD CALL THAT PROGRESSIVE, LIBERAL, CONSERVATIVE, THE DIFFERENCE REALLY IS HOW WE BELIEVE GOVERNMENT SHOULD INTERVENE. I ALWAYS SAY THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND REPUBLICAN PARTY, THE REPUBLICAN PARTY BELIEVES IN INVESTING IN INSTITUTIONS. THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY INVEST YOUR DOLLARS INTO HUMAN BEINGS AND AMERICA. THAT IS WHAT YOU SEE IN HER POLICY. IF I CAN MAKE THIS POINT QUICKLY, I THINK THERE WAS ALL THIS ANTICIPATION ABOUT HOW THE CONVENTION DELEGATES WOULD RESPOND. I THINK THE MOMENT THAT THE JEWISH PARENTS SHOWED UP WHOSE SON IS CURRENTLY A HOSTAGE IN GAZA, THAT PARENT SAID, I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE HOSTILE. WHEN SHE HEARD THE CROWD CHANTING, BRING THEM HOME, SHE JUST FELL. YOU KNOW? IT WAS SUCH AN APPRECIATION THAT WE ARE NOT WHAT YOU THINK WE ARE. THAT IS A REALLY GREAT THING ABOUT THIS CONVENTION. IT SHOW THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY
