day production does matter and a lot of this conversation that has been permeating the airwaves recently in regards to this game seems to be talking about Allan Bowman and Ali Gordon is the only player on the team that can do anything and and they have a below average wide receiver core or just an average wide receiver core now first of all I do want to say this is going to be the lesle O'Neal stripe the stadium day so for all of the Arkansas fans out there uh I will uh put the Leslie O'Neal video in here so you can to speed on his amazing career and why he's going to be in the Ring of Honor uh announcement during the game but the conversation about Allan Bowman not being good enough the conversation about Gordon being the only thing have as far as production and again the wide receiver conversation and defensively speaking everybody wants to talk about the backend leaking like a Civ and to some degree I I get that part right but let's just do a breakdown here of the guys on our Squad and the guys on Arkansas Squad and let's see how it shakes down so TN green has 303 completions and he has a 59% comple percentage for 4,023 yards 27 touchdowns 15 picks equals a 55.6 touchdown to interception ratio meanwhile Allan Bowman yeah sure maybe you don't want to count the completions in the same ballpark because he had 814 compared to 303 and before anybody out there says well D he's been playing college football for 123 years yeah maybe but he also didn't play for over three years so he's seven years into college football but he didn't play for three of those therefore when you look at him in T and green there is some comparisons the problem is with 65% completion percentage and 9,034 yards 52 for 32 on touchdown interception ratio is 61.5% so all of the metrics that dictate whether your quarterback's going to be successful Allan Bowman beats ton green ton green has the legs that Allan Bowman does not so that must be a factor for them in this game or they're going to have a long day because T Talon green is not the same as Alan Bowman you're hearing jinon Jackson from Arkansas fans is going to be able to rush for more yards than olle Gordon because he had 10 what three yards 104 yards the other day on just eight carries compared to olle Gordon's 126 yards on 27 carries so mathematically speaking okay cool you might have an argument here but if you look at jaquin and Jackson and olly Gordon they've been in college football for the exact same amount of time and they have been heralded to some degree somewhat equally J Quinn and Jackson at 253 carries 1,459 yards at 5.8 yards per clip 16 touchdowns with a 66 yard Long Hall Holly Gordon 375 carries 2,166 yards 5.9 on the yards per carry 26 touchdowns and a 75 yard long there's not much of a comparison here I think D quinon Jackson is a very very good football player that would start at most every school but you're talking about the best running back in college football so if we want to talk about the fact that he didn't put up massive numbers against South Dakota State Squad that schemed him up pretty well so be it but to pretend that he is the same as the Quinn and Jackson it's borderline laughable Isaiah satena he is a the the guy that will be competing to some degree with Brennan Presley at the slot right he's only got 18 receptions 175 yards couple touchdowns so I don't even know that he classifies in because he's only been playing for a couple years bnam Presley been playing for quite some time so that might be different and realistically speaking from what I saw in the previous game that Isaac Tesa Tesla was very very impressive but he's not listed as the starter therefore this is the comparison that we have there is no comparison whether you take Isaac talah or or Isaiah satena and you put them together they still do not equal Brennan Presley's 232 grabs 2583 yards 11.1 per clip and 17 touchdowns Tyrone Broden 92 grabs 1,343 yards 14.6 yards per carry 16 touchdowns compared to Johan stribbling 115 receptions 1,354 yards 11.8 per and 11 TDS so whenever you're doing this comparison we can keep going arm uh Andrew Armstrong should be back for this game and statistically speaking he might be better than Rashad Owens but I don't know that I would trade him for Rashad Owens because for most people that don't know shot Owens has been the utility knife right this wasss army knife for Oklahoma State he's done everything that's been asked of him whether it be put on 35 pounds and move to tight end which he did then scoot back out to wide receiver then put on you more weight and he's been doing everything that we've ever asked him to do at Oklahoma State and when you do look at this Arkansas Team they do have a coordinator uh T will that I think a lot of people are you know aware of his talents but they don't have a Nick Martin they don't have a Colin Oliver they don't have a kennel Daniels now our o line dline they better get it together real quick fast and in a hurry or this be a nailbiter a g of a game that we really don't want to get into we want to avoid that situation just like to some degree I think we would like to avoid a track meet I think points are going to be scored we we'll cover some of that in the third this fallacy that continues to be presented that Alan Bowman is just no good and and T green is just going to come out here and run all over Oklahoma State it's Preposterous the conversations about Quinn and Jackson potentially being better than oi Gordon also Preposterous if you want to look at the wide receivers sure there may be an argument there but we also have some matchup cap capabilities that I think will nullify some of that for Arkansas which we'll we'll get to as well but the Cowboys in this instance are just too much Allan Bowman is more solid of a quarterback than tayen green quinnon Jackson is not on the same level as olly Gordon receivers I think stack up to the production of Brennan Presley and then some of the receivers that do stack up to say somebody like a desan stribling haven't seen a defense like like ours in a little while it's a 335 it does have some issues but at the end of the day stats lives matter this is about production Oklahoma State should be able to outproduce Arkansas and that's all you got to do is produce more points and you're going to get the Paramount to the success for Oklahoma State this isn't going to be numerical right I was going to do a top five but I feel like there's more layers to it so I'm just going to hit you with it one of the biggest if not the biggest matchup of the weekend is going to be Deshawn Brown and Jalil Johnson versus Fernando Carona 6'5 three 25 pound tackle transferred from San Jose State is he gonna be able to do enough to athletically compete with DeShawn Brown and Jalil Johnson for four quarters we need to find that out too as Oklahoma State fan because thus far Deshawn Brown and Jalil Johnson haven't quite done what we've expected them to do I know it's early on we had one game but I think to some degree I'm counting last season as well Deshawn Brown has NFL pedigree NFL abilities and an NFL body but he needs to get up in the statistical categories he's not yet neither is Jalil Johnson for the most part that needs to change in this game another massive matchup is going to be Corey black and I'm not just being figurative I'm being literal as well because Tyrone Brodin is 6 foot7 220 pounds he doesn't move like it doesn't run like it but he is that guy So if Cory black is going to take this fifth year ability and the interception that he had from the previous week and carry it over there's not going to be a better time especially early on in the season to make a statement right we do have tedar Roa McMillan we do have uh Noel and Higgins at Iowa State so there are some wide receivers in this league that you have to pay attention to but none of them are 6 foot s 220 pounds and and one thing I will say positively right for Arkansas guys they have 11 wide receivers over 6'4 and seven of them are over 200 lb so their wide receiver room is kind of like a bunch of Rashad Owens that could also play a little bit of tight end that might be a benefit to them unless Cory black can completely nullify Tyrone Broden uh Rashad Owens our wide receiver against Maris the bumping gums dude uh broen he has a nickname it escapes me at at the moment or Maris Robinson sorry Rashad Owens Maris Robinson if we recall last year the interception that he had off of Alan Bowman if I recall correctly was to desan stribbling but Rashad Owens is that get back guy right he's the big brother that will you know set the course straight and make things right I Owens to do that there might be a couple crack backs uh um I'm sorry that's not the right verbage crackback are no longer legal there might be a couple extra deting times in this game for Rashad Owens on Maris Robinson and I know we all can't wait for it kennel Daniels against Luke H I'm not GNA harp on the fact that uh you know I think Luke made a mistake here not necessarily because he chose Arkansas but because he never really honestly considered Oklahoma State he is gonna the best tight end on the field just like he's likely going to be the best tight end easily one of the top three tight ends in the C that's likely not going to change anytime soon which is why this is going to be a massive game for kennel Daniels kennel Daniels sometimes gets caught in the wash his eye discipline in the back field sometimes gets a little wonky but side to side right east to west he has that down and luk cause is a tight end that is going to cause a problem for most people out in the flats but most people don't have a 6'4 245b safety linebacker to be able to uh cover lukee so that's a big matchup for me to watch Allan CW daddy Bowman vers the world I've said it before so I don't mind saying it again I'm not 100% sold that Allan Bowman best quarterback on the Oklahoma State roster he is the most veteran he is the most understanding of the offense he is the one that that was very instrumental in making these option route Concepts a thing with the wide receivers and here I am defending Allen Bowman what we needed to see out of Allen Bowman was that procket pocket presence the better awareness to remove the moniker of caddy right and to not break his own record of how many yards you can throw into the stands well we didn't see that week one and again you can say whatever you want it was an FCS opponent but they schematically had a very good game plan for Oklahoma State they did a phenomenal job against Ole Gordon I mean which means offensively we did not do near enough you know to take advantage of situations but I am personally starting to get a little frustrated myself for not even being a big-time Bowman guy the disrespect that he's getting nationally is ridiculous I mean Oklahoma State hasn't necessarily had a plethora of NFL level quarterbacks but whenever you look at Alan Bowman he does stack up he did throw for you 3200 yard 31 almost 3200 yards last season the interceptions are atrocious but the same thing is going to be said about Arkansas's quarterback the completion percentage it's not great but it's way better than Arkansas's quarterback this should be a day where Allan Bowman can show some of the hater that uh you know he's not an AARP Member that doesn't know how to play the game that cannot distribute the football there's going to be turnovers in this game the question is is it going to be Allan Bowman or is it going to be Arkansas's T and green because most people are assuming that Alan Bowman is not going to win this matchup and that is just uh that's wild that's absolutely wild to me another massive matchup in my opinion is going to be oi Gordon versus Avon Sor Jr again the last time he played in SEC school he had that that messed up Ankle so there's a perception that when he plays defenses he can only put up 34 yards he needs to break that mold he make a statement and and set the record straight in this game and who would do it better against than their middle linebacker transfer from Georgia that didn't just come to Arkansas for S's and Giggles he started some games at Georgia he was an intrical part of their defense at Georgia and he was a high fourstar uh almost five-star recruit out of IMG Academy coming out of high school which is partially why he went to Georgia so you know the talents there the developments there and then basically within a couple weeks of him being on campus he was already kind of taken over for the one spot at that linebacker position more often than not he's going to be the guy that is responsible for taking on olly in the hole head on my money's on olly but it's going to be a good matchup I mean the dude is 63 225 so it's it's going to be a fun one we've only got a couple left here you ready for this one Bobby patrino versus Brian Nardo and this might be the biggest one to expound upon Bardo you're you're you're you're my dude been very high since the very beginning I do think that your iteration of the 335 is a little bit different than ACO and we do have some athletic dudes in still water that they don't necessarily have in Iowa State therefore I do think that our 335 should be the best in the league if not one of the best 335s in the country but it's been a lot of Hit and Miss I hate the terminology have been but don't break I mean but it is kind of that if anybody's going to make a statement it needs to be Brian Nardo even more so than Casey Dunn even more so to some degree than Mike Gundy the hate that Oklahoma State's defense is getting unfortunately it's somewhat warranted non State fans don't die in a hoot about how many fourth quarter turnovers you've come up with with schematically to win ball games because there are still three other quarters a lot of production for the other team last year we were able to lead the the Big 12 in sacks and and force fumbles and I believe another statistical category defensively as well may have been fumbles Force I don't know but that leading the league and sacks tackles for loss getting in the back field that cowboy defense did not show up last week again I know defensively you we were definitely being very vanilla we have to prove it bonardo needs to prove it this is a big moment for Brian Nardo this is his opportunity after an offense just put up 70 points 10 drives 10 touchdowns which again is miraculous like that's hard to do on air against a high school scout team so Brian Nardo's probably not gonna sleep much this week probably should because this is realistically his I don't know I don't want to say first but next national audience litness test if Brian Nardo shuts down the offense that just put up 70 points and had this this massive amount of production and did some of it with all of their their backups in game after halftime then his best needs to be now last year was his first year this year you can't just make fourth quarter adjustments you have to start to begin to Showcase why the talent and the athleticism of Oklahoma state is on a different level and it's definitely on a bigger level than most people nationally are going to give the respect for and then lastly before we uh before we shift gears here a little bit by Gundy and Oklahoma State collectively the perception not just the SEC perception but the Allen Bowman limitations the Olie Gordon being the only part of the team that's successful the defense not being able to stop anybody my Gundy not being able to sometimes win the big games and the big moments on the big screen TV right this is an ABC kickoff to me those are the biggest matchups for this game and by and large They Don't Really match up all Oklahoma state from a size perspective yeah sure skill speed and I do think that they're collectively pretty close as a team right they lost five or six Road games last year by one score it takes really good cohesive units that have really good culture to be able to win a lot on the road they were close on the road last year closer than they were at home really so that's another layer that Mike Gundy Casey Dunn and Brian Nardo need to be paying attention to Arkansas's not the same team at home as they are on the road as crazy as that is at least last year that's kind of the way that it went all right so we've got some predictions uh we've got the big 12 to to cover and the slate and evidently Henry IBA hates hates football I don't know who knew I don't know but anybody who before we uh shift to segment three here we got to talk about the hiring Department because in well but whenever you're looking at the Big 12 slate this weekend there's not necessarily a bunch of massive games but there's definitely a lot of games to pay attention to so let's break down what we have on slate so we got the BYU at SMU smu's been doing so much talking not only about themselves but about how great the SC the AC is and how terrible the Big 12 is it's postering it's cute we get it but we need BYU to shut this is down whenever you travel down to Dallas so I've got the by cougars over the ponies Rock Chalk jhawk over Illinois and Ill thanking KU and the Big 12 for filling their Stadium they finally have a Sol in years it took a big 12 pay you for Illinois to finally sell out a football game that's pretty fun you already know I got the The Jayhawks here I got Utah over Baylor this might hurt my heart a little bit from the hateful eight perspective but we need an undefeated Utah rolling into Still Water we need it to be a top 10 matchup so I've got the you that one K State over tan why because tan lost their coaches lost a decent number of their players and last year they lost to SMU you cannot lose to a barely glorified G5 and have a chance in a game like this sorry about you T Lane but you ain't going to get it done against the purple Power kitties I got K State this one hurts my heart but I think Colorado is equal parts talented and a disastrous nightmare rolling down the tracks because of the locker room and shanners and and some of the things that we've heard I don't think Dion has has control I think that that that's a lot of uh uncontrolled chaos going on in Colorado in Nebraska they the black shirts they're not they're not here yet but RI seems to be the real deal and I'm a big believer in thatt rule so unfortunately I'm going to go with a former Big 12 member in Nebraska here Arizona State over Mississippi State sorry Jeff lebby I kind of like you but I just don't think you're quite ready I'm picking Arizona State I didn't know that this day would come but here we are Arizona State to win if they play anything like they did last week they get the dubs so give me the Sun Devils this is a bold move here cotton but I'm gonna go with Taco ream Tech over Washington State because Washington State's defense is so horrendous yeah they scored like 70 against Portland State but they also gave up like 30 30 points to Portland State is not a good look and Texas Tech offense can hum if Baron Morton is healthy and Jaylen Conor is in the game both of those are likely to be happening I don't think they can slow down Tech I don't think Tech can really slow down them a lot either but they should get more stops than uh wazo so give me the Red Raiders Cincinnati over pit why because pit sucks and pits in the worst league in the country Pit's just a disastrous Nightmare and unfortunately they don't really have a lot of good representation out here so I'm going to pick on them and maybe not get a lot back but it's it's okay give me the Bearcats uh I like the Indiana sorby transfer quarterback look pretty good he needs to keep it rolling this one hurts my heart again too love you Cyclones I do think that rck Ock is a pretty decent quarterback I do think that you have two of the top five wide receivers and not only the Big 12 but two of the better receivers in the country I don't know that offensively you can keep up I know that's wild to say but this is a new Iowa team with a very streamline offensive approach it's not your old school Iowa they're going to try to throw the ball they're going to try to score some points and if they do that I don't know that Iowa state is going to be able to hold them off especially with it being at Iowa so unfortunately give me the hawkey West Virginia Over Albany um I have enough time to rag on West Virginia appropriately I'll just say that that was the most embarrassing disaster of the week including Colorado's crazy performance Houston yeah that that was pretty bad so you're right there with Houston on how embarrassing of a performance that was on behalf of the Big 12 that was ugly West Virginia so hopefully you get back on track I have you over Albany UCF former Gregor former Cowboy defensive line and anline Coach Greg Richmond is going to be on hand as the Sam Houston coach but not not enough give me UCF TCU over Long Island of course Arizona over Northern Arizona of course OU over H I hate that but Houston was they were bad uh finally the Cowboys 3830 over the Arkansas Razorbacks which means that we do hit the over on the spread as well at 62 and a half um real quick cowgir soccer they are undefeated now one game to pay attention to will be September 26 when we play BYU that's likely the best team in the Big 12 that will be a very good barometer for if this cowgirl soccer team is as good as it appears or they've still got a little bit of work to do and apparently Barry treml wrote an article about how Henry IBA did something to football that didn't help football way back in the day I'm not paying the Oklahoma crap Fest so I'm not going to read the entirety if somebody can kind of give me a rundown that would be cool but I I I I don't know I don't know why it matters um like if Henry IA didn't didn't love basketball or football cuz we were a basketball school and a wrestling school at the time I mean so be it I get it I don't understand
