“Disaster… Very Destructive” | Keir Starmer Slammed For Potential Tax Rises

I haven't spoken to you since well I haven't spoken to you for a while but I am I'm getting a little hacked off with people sending me messages and ringing me up saying I can't believe this what's that well I mean he's giving he's giving tax Rises to all his Union mates he's um he's he's he's we're not allowed to have free speech he sent the militia on the streets for anybody to the right of Center but everybody else seems to get away um today we sees in Germany he says to reset relations with Europe because brexit didn't work I think it was allowed to work what's your view in your experience of the first eight weeks of Saki st's labor government Trevor well I'm very encouraged Jeremy by the fact that so many people have spotted what's going on and in the middle of the holiday season when most people better occupied doing things which are far from politics um people are suddenly noticing that they've been betrayed that they've been sold a pup and that they' bought into the idea that labor government would do what it promised to do on the tin unfortunately most of those promises weren't clearly spelled out on the tin and now we discover that we've got a false prospectus if a prospectus at all and that we're having things thrust upon us which we would never I suspect have voted for had we been told in the first place and like me does it make you trebly angry 10 times more angry at the sheer incompetence of the Tory government in its final months and weeks and days is that it's allowed this to happen and has allowed certain people to be Hoodwinked because to me I mean he's a proper socialist and socialism as you and I know and many other people know promises everything to everybody but at the end of the day and I read it in the mail today there will be a tax and this isn't on just the very rich the middle class will be clobbered to allow him to do what he does and and and the cold hard reality of that is going to bite isn't it well in answer to your initial question yes I think that the Tories deserve all they've got and are getting and um it'll be a long time before anyone trusts them again but the rest of the world the rest of the country does not deserve what it's been Beed by that Tory government which is a declared socialist government as you say socialism is the state knowing best and deciding accordingly deciding how you should spend your money how much money in fact you should have left after they've taken their uh SCE in tax and I'm delighted that people are suddenly paying attention and seeing that this is a disaster and I think the evidence will pile up in the coming weeks months and years particularly in as I think I mentioned before we've got the council elections coming up in uh the spring of next year which is months away but plenty of time for people to assess this government on its opening 100 days or 200 days in office and found to be wanting and indeed I think ultimately very destructive you you made a really good point there about the the Tory party they they were battered into submission losing over 260 seats they won't have an elected leader until November I think the six become four then it's Tory Party Conference time then it's two to the to the leadership two for the leadership to to the members um I was asking yesterday how long you think starma can well your opinion today but I was asking people what they thought in terms of how long he can say this is all the Tory mess that's not going to last forever very easy isn't it to sit on the sidelines and win an election by telling people what's wrong with their lives and not how you would make it better just who's to blame for it and I I I I'm sort of with you I think that this I think this could actually implode in the first five years I I I don't all this we need 10 or 15 years I think a lot of middle Britains for want of a better phrase will see through this absolutely see through it and will'll either vote reform because the Tory party is not back on its legs or return to the Tory fold if it manages to get back on its legs and indeed they are already seeing it because it's been their noses are being thrust into it uh the scrapping of the heating allowance the uh the failure to achieve any sort of deal with the unions apart from handing them billions of pounds worth of our money for nothing in return these are already beginning to have traction with thinking voters of all parties and I think a lot of those who were swayed in to voting labor the last time this one the last election are going to be rapidly waking up to the fact that they've been sold a pup as I say and I I think that that is an an act of suicide by labor because if they' rolled the pitch if they had been honest with the voters beforehand if they had delivered a Manifesto which can included all of these uh plans which we've had thrust upon us at no with no notice at all I think there might have been potentially some sort of acceptance of the fact that it needed to be done but the one thing they cannot really blame the Tories for is the state of the economy uh the the Tories are responsible for an awful lot of mess admittedly but the one thing that Rishi sunak as prime minister has managed to achieve is to establish the growth that starm and Rachel Reeves have demanded low inflation lower interest rates and generally a robust economy which is leading the rest of the western democracies explain to me how when a government gets into power and Rachel Reeves today has blamed that winter fuel cut and the changes that she feels she has to make um on the tor's 22 billion black hole here's my question to you a renowned political uh voice right if there's a 22 billion black hole why is it within two weeks of election day you give a 22% rise to doctors you turn as left train drivers into 81 Grand a year employees and the nurse has got 5 Sur the message in your head would be well if we do that there we're going to have to do it to everybody which is going to make the black hole worse and and and if the black hole's going to be worse you and I and everybody else should damn well know they're going to tax everybody that's I mean that is it isn't it exactly and uh that black hole allegedly 22 billion which in fact uh any information about the state of the public finances was available on a continuing basis thanks to the office of budget responsibility throughout the whole of the last five or 10 years so this is not a surprise and indeed half or more than half of that 22 billion that they've suddenly identified has been accommodated entirely to pay those unions more than 11 billion pounds for doing I was going to say sweet fa in return um and that's true that's they've been they asked they've been asked to do nothing to improve productivity and without that we're not going to get the growth of they're promising and the thing is that none of this was in the manifesto and as a result they've got no credibility with the public and I think the public are waking up to this I think it's really interesting as well I I I think I made a real point in the runup the election and we obviously were impur and we had to be straight down the line but I did think that the British public although hacked off and disenchanted and disillusioned with politics in general I remember when sunak in the in the middle of the campaign said I'm going to cut taxes and they did a poll didn't they Trevor and people in their majority were well a minute if you're going to cut taxes just to try and buy our votes we're intelligent enough now or more switched on now to know that we'll have to pay for it further down the line there's no doubt that the labor party have got into Power with very little meat on the bone simply through the complete incompetence of the Tory government and I and I see unraveling I just want to ask you we had a talk exclusive today th this just sends me through the roof I have to try and be as calm as possible two months ago a gentleman a low life in my mind was pictured in a in an England shirt with Hamas 7 uh walking down Oxford Street that was eight weeks ago Trevor he's still not been identified another example surely of two-tier policing we haven't spoken maybe since the routes I don't know but but I was very sure that starmer's militia who managed to arrest uh try and throw in the clink within 12 minutes the far right I I would plead that that that a Level Playing Field is the absolute must for policing in this country why has he not even been identified why have those four thugs at Manchester Airport still not been charged why has nobody from the Notting Hill Carnival been paraded on television I think look I'm not I'm not trying to cause outrage here but surely what we want is robust policing Trevor across the social and cultural land landscape yes or no well I think that robust policing must be fair policing even handed policing one tier policing and of course we understand that this uh unfortunate chap in his bright red Manchester United T-shirt with Hamas 7 on the back was an unobtrusive character despite the fact that I gather he was seven feet tall someone must know him and it who printed the shirt exactly but there are lots of Clues so yes this is quite clearly some they do not want to upset the community what that Community is is a separate part of the British society and it should not be allowed to flourish as a separate part and the police who are supposed to be citizens in uniform should be policing it fairly and appropriately but also speedily couldn't agree more um just to sum it up um first to eight weeks you said at the beginning you you're pleased that people seem to be switched on I I I see this being a roller coaster ride that's going to end in Failure I'm not saying that with a smile on my face because the Tory party of nowhere but I I I genuinely I mean I genuinely think that people are very quickly going to go whoa hold on a minute well I think that the the first eight weeks have been clumsy incompetent and chaotic and I think that people are as I say waking up to this very quickly and people who might have been tempted to vote labor this is a a bad government an authoritarian government and I think we're going to see a lot more disturbing and distressing ways in which the labor socialist labor government applies its uh Doctrine and one of those is the idea that the freedom of speech which the Tory Government tried to implement at universities is being unraveled so that anything that is seen to be hate speech by the recipient by the way this is not an impartial objective anyone can say this is hate speech reported to the police and the police are obliged to act and give someone a record for a hate crime a a non- crime hate incident but that's on their record once it's there you you have a stain over your reputation and I think that is just one symptom of an authoritarian and unpleasant approach to public policy for
