we've got a great one in store today and when you got a team that makes it into the top 25 now when you go on the road that's when you prove you belong as we'll see a team fresh and ready to go off of by we the West Virginia Mountaineers taking on another unit from the Big 12 the Oklahoma State Cowboys for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me guys it's time to get it going and the Cowboys will get us started with the opening kickoff the returner will field it and bring it back and he did a good job bobbing and weaving and finding a little bit of Running Room on that return the Mountaineers offense will start this game off and this guy feels like a throwback back in the day the running backs were always the Stars this guy fits that mole and he can do a lot of different things too he's not a onetick pony this guy can Tote The Rock he can catch the ball he can block we might even see him throw the ball in this game this is a jack of all trades nice run there picks up a few and they'll force him out of bounds really important for a ranked team going into a hostile environment like this one not to give the underdog reason to believe yes reason to believe and don't give the fans reason to get jacked up and excited come out early be in a business mode mindset you got to start fast you got to have a sense of urgency you cannot come sleepwalking into an environment like this because if you do and you make some mistakes this crowd will pounce on you and sees moment they'll run for it on Third and short turns it on in Midfield hit the gas kid wide open thee and he'll take it in they couldn't get him on the ground touchdown West Virginia and these offensive coordinators tell you they want to start fast and they want to establish the Run game that is exactly what you did first drive you hand the football off making the big explosive run setting the tone for this football game e e now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and he finished things off racing 63 yds to the end zone almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown on the move from inside is five and the coverage team able to make the tackle so the Oklahoma State Cowboys offense will try to get something started with their first possession I know what a weapon he is on the outside but stretching the field against this dude in the secondary will be a challenge and just some safeties have it the awareness the ability to see the ball to break on the football and he's one of those guys this QB better be looking this safety off you can't just trust your receivers going to out aete him every time you throw him the ball because this safety is a different breed after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 they're looking for an advantage to the right they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all about they'll decline the penalty here and let the result of that play Stand now on Third and 10 if they can move the chains here maybe they can get this drive started looking to pass it's Bowman not able to hook up the air incomplete third and long situation they try to go screen I think they were hoping it was going to be a big Zone and they could get those offensive linemen down the field but the defense sniffed it out forcing the incompletion bringing it back it's farmer he only needs a sliver of daylight that Nifty return sets up the offense and negates some of the yardage on the punt West Virginia has it back ready to dive into that Playbook boy David they would love to stack another touchdown on top of that last drive and this offense did such a good job on the last Drive everything in Rhythm moved the ball down the field didn't make those mistakes Jesse and they need to do it again on this one yeah you're right they had the defense on their heels you wonder what sort of communication was going on that sideline what sort of changes were they able to make cuz they got to stop the bleeding right now down to the 18 yd line it's first and 10 I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of play into home runs they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to adjust caught in the back field it's white he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play already in field goal range but now trying to convert this third and long from the 20 from the gun wants to pass they're trying to get to it pulls it in in the end zone touch now MERS well this offense is top 10 in the country in points per game because they've got a lot of speed and they've got home run hitters they score fast they don't need 10 plays to go down the field you saw it right there they've recruited well they've got Playmakers they are going to be a problem for defenses all year long they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point makes it 14 nothing quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they Clos the deal with a 20yd pass for Six about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown on the run from inside his own five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Oklahoma State hoping to get the pistols firing on offense to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing on all cylinders right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up yeah and it's just the first quarter so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or or that scheme that you can use against this defense and you can forget running in the middle against this defense third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off trying to get to him and the defense makes a play sacking him back at the 10 well that's not Lamar Jackson back there scrambling around this is a guy the defense felt like if we can get him out of the pocket and flush him we can get after him and Chase and bring him down and they did that one pretty easy there getting the sack the Cowboys will call on their punt team three and out and not much choice but to get rid of the ball he just wanted to get it out of there from his end zone he's got great speed touchdown Mountaineers and how about the kicking game coming up with a play no midseason dos for these guys as they push out the lead in week six and every year there's exciting new freshman to look at and talk about and Pub up and this guy got a lot of that Pub and you see why the dynamic play on special teams you can see the speed you can see the wheels and you know the reason the fans were jacked up when they signed this guy this year lining up to attack one more onto that lead and with the extra point they're up 21 to nothing man you just can't put a price on having a guy like that back there to return punts and he turned that one into a touchdown and he takes this from inside the five and the return man has no place to run no place to hide and a place to be tackled Oklahoma state has it back and the offense is on the field last time David it was one two three kick yeah last drive that three and out sometimes that put you and the quarterback goes down all the way back at his four yd line well the offense got themselves into trouble they're back in their own end it's an obvious passing situation so the defense is just pinning their ears back and they're trying to get after him they could not allow him to escape Step Up Get rid of the football they take a sack very close to the goal line they'll snap it from the 20 on second and four hand off from the shotgun and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go all season long we've been watching this defense dominate against the Run they're the number one Rush defense in the entire country with a big lead in this game you cannot run the ball and expect to win and get back in it on the run it's and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down and the Cowboys line up to punt it away doesn't say much for your drive when you're looking forward to the punt looking for a block it's farmer touchdown West Virginia the Special Teams proving worthy of their name that is one of the biggest plays of that young man's Football Life the true freshman taking the punt to the house if I'm the head coach and I watch that I'm now trying to find ways to get this guy on the field offensively because he's got some special ability they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point makes it 28 to nothing let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connors Kevin what do you got guys let's get you gains to set your defense for positive situations down the road snagged in the middle it's Stewart and how about that catch and run so dangerous this guy the offense set for a first down play guys that's the end of the quarter and West Virginia has the lead they came out and jumped on them early in the first let's take a break and look at the first quarter stats just about ready to get things started here in the second we'll see if they continue to flex that muscle they'll snap it from the 39 first and 10 looking to move it through the air and the quarterback is snowed under and that's his second sack of the day and guess what dudes he leads the nation in sacks you better know where he is on every play that dude has a for getting quarterbacks on the ground they've already racked up big sack numbers it's starting to snowball and they are ready to go again looking to throw it's Bowman they're bringing Heat and the pressure is coming in and they get him again what a great job by this defense setting the tone early in the first half they've been hitting the quarterback early and often make him feel uncomfortable make him feel that pressure keep getting him on the ground that's why they've built the lead and whatever they did on first and second down don't do that anymore third and very long coming up looking down field and he needs a bunch grab behind the line it's Presley and Sh tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker the Cowboys will try to pin them back with the punt he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight and no chance for The Return Man to get his hands on that one as it hops out of bounds West Virginia has it and the offense ready to go to work this has been exactly the way you draw things up D the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer is a different animal now you got to protect it you can tell they were paying attention in practice this week in the film room because they have gone out everybody right now in the same P they'll run it out of the shotgun tackled after picking up the first down that gives him 100 yards rushing he continues to impress as he leads the nation in rushing see what they dial up on First and 10 going to run it it's Donaldson still on his feet at the 45 good pick up there as he gets the first down and they'll Mark him at the 48 there's really no secret to it David when this guy's running well this offense is so hard to stop it opens up everything and he's having a great day showing you a little bit of everything everything and this offense has got it rolling on the ground running back searching for a hole you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six it's the emmo of this offense and they really put a lot on the offensive line to go out and really try and establish their dominance and their assertiveness and they've done a good job of that early in this game running the football he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of downs well the offense is in a really nice Rhythm right now it seems like no matter what they're dialing up they're getting positive yards and it just feels so good as a play caller when you know on first down you can get yards like that turning around and handing them off yeah and on the other side you're scratching your head going what the heck can I do here you got to find something the defense has got to find a way to create some momentum whatever they're doing right now it's not working so you got to keep going through that play sheet and maybe find something a little bit different that can give this offense something to think about easy come on offense gives it to the back on the draw he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and sometimes for the defense it just takes one play right to create some momentum obviously this guy's been eating him up he's got over 100 yards rushing on the day but finally David they get something positive here in the Run game defensively but you kind of know that coming in he's going to get his such a great back and he's had a great day need to put more plays together like that right there the Mountaineers will this one away first punt of the day and he' love to lock him up close to their goal line and they can't get on top of it to down it so that ball will come out to the 20 Oklahoma State hoping to get the pistols firing on offense boy they've been caught in a buzz saw here in the first half but maybe a chance to carry some momentum into and the quarterback caught up two and sacked at the 12 you got to be impressed with this defense early in this game guys they've got a big lead because they are getting after the quarterback they've already generated multiple sacks they thought coming into this game they could take advantage of this offensive line and that game plan is working to Perfection this pass rush has just been Relentless and you can bet your bottom dollar they're about to bring the heat again he's got his man they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit of the time to get to that first down marker wow this offense is doing nothing they've already punted four times and staring at the possibility of a fifth going to run it it's Gordon and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the Stop and the Cowboys decide to punt it away he gets a BL can they catch him he'll take it to the house touchdown MERS a dynamic explosive return the sliver of daylight exploding through it just vaporizing and reappearing on the other side and housing it and P returners are so quick you can play Touch football in an elevator with them and lose you can't even get your hand on there so quick so elusive does such a great job making people Miss but still going full speed up the field to get all the way to the end zone and score the TD lining up to tack one more onto that lead and they tack on the extra point for a 35 nothing lead that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halftime update fellas you've been calling a magnificent game there so far in still talk about a first half from that dude out of the back field he's been a total Game Changer and how many top plays moments have we seen on Miss tackles Alone video game moves from one of the shiftiest players in all of college football with that said let's send it back to the guys at boom picking Stadium and the Mountaineers will line up to kickoff and start the second half here he comes from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Oklahoma state has it back in the offenses on the field nothing went right in that first half in the first order of business here try not to be embarrassed any first but the comeback is possible remember 2006 Michigan State down 35 to Northwestern at half time they somehow came back and won the game but it all starts on one play and that has to happen here on this first drive for the offense yeah the first possession because your possessions you're only going to get so many possessions and you got to score on every single one of them offense defense special teams have to play out of their mind but they have to believe finds a little bit of space gets three to the 22 I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear it a lot in football though that's happening in in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it yeah and in third and short it's a great place to be for an offense you got the whole Playbook available and they choose the pass that the defense did a really good job play in the pass and fourth down now it's decision time for you slips through the line he'll get it up to about the 44 yard line before they slam the brakes on it West Virginia has it back ready to dive into that Playbook they'll have another opportunity to extend this lead after punting last time David and it's important to put that punt behind you it's it's over let it go get back to what you were doing that built this lead B yeah and defense obviously they won a few Downs uh that last drive so we got to put them on their heels here maybe mix up a few Personnel groupings and try to show them some pictures they haven't seen yet they're going to go right back to him on first down breaks the tackle and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points wrestled to the ground after picking up the first down wow the running back there showing you his skill set as he's able to rip off that one for a first down the Mountaineers WI snap it on First and 10 trying to surprise him with the pass and they took a shot on that one but couldn't make the connection it's incomplete after they couldn't connect it's second and 10 out of the gun the inside K and he's able to find a little bit of Running Room before they get him down and they say a quarterback's best friend is a good run game game and a good running back I think he agrees over 150 yards on the day I don't even think I need a quarterback the way he's been running the football all game long offense calls a timeout here critically important to make sure they have the right play called and everyone on the same page here boy they'd love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal looking downfield it's green looking for the score touchdown Mountaineers and the punishment has been extended really nice job working the route and getting himself open he was able to locate the football snag it out of the air and this guy now has five receiving touchdowns on the year e e e they'll try to add another to their lead and with that extra point the lead remains in the gargantuan category we check in with Kevin Connors what's going on Kevin arguably the game of the week fellas with two top 25 teams locking horns Georgia is currently trailing but if this young star leads a comeback today he could join Matthew Stafford and ston Bennett among the greats to play in Athens it's a touchdown game they're trailing by seven to Auburn for now it's back to you fellas but of course if anything changes you'll see it right here thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final after picking up a couple at second and eight they'll give it to the back hard running there tried to move that pile forward he maybe gets two he's down at the 21 offense breaks the Huddle it's third down they'll go to the air caught in the back field it's Owens and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage the Cowboys send out the punt unit makes a move he'll get it up to about the 44 yd line before they slam the brakes on him West Virginia has it and the offense ready to go to work line gets set first down they'll try the run at the 45 on it way off he goes touchdown West Virginia and the has commenced huge play it's so nice to have guys that can create these explosive plays like this you hand it to him he can do the rest look at the speed look at the elusiveness get into the end zone nice run they'll try to attack one more on their score and the extra point just TS a little bit more onto this huge lead what a way to send a message huge play in the running game one snap and you've got a touchdown on the board the kickoff team on the field as they'll send this one away returner will field it and try to get some F position nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 Oklahoma State hoping to get the pistols firing on offense their Drive chart is starting to look a little monotonous punt punt punt David and and the quarterback goes down at the 11 yd line when you talk about outstanding pass rushers you're always talking about Dynamic guys and he's been that each and every week for this defense speed he's got power you just simply can't block him and that last play is his 10th sack of the season after getting nothing done on the last one this is a big play second and long from the 11 on the ground it's Gordon determined run but he stopped after two yards down at the 13 this defense has kept them backed up now one more stop and they can get off the field on Third and long might as well stick with him and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down and the Cowboys will send out the punt unit running it back it's farmer he's going to get loose lowers those PS he will score touchdown MERS he did that one all by himself make a few guys miss turn on the afterburners and boom everybody's toast and that's why you got him back deep because that guy can do that you got to be explosive and quick and have good vision and you see all those things on one punt return takes it back to the house makes people Miss turn it on the gas great job great return lining up to tack one more onto that lead and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further so his big play capability was on full display in that one as he took that punt back for the touchdown the kickoff team is out there after that punt return for a touchdown they'll try to pin him deep he'll bring it back from inside his five and they'll haul down found the returner to start us on the next Drive Oklahoma state has it back and the offense is on the field boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 keeping it on the ground with the running back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one yeah it's been a surprise today for this offense like coming into the game we all talked about it we thought they'd be able to run against this defense that's been run on a lot and this offense just can't get the running game going be interested to see what and here's a fumble way behind the line defense just cradling that fumble and securing it and not much else could go wrong a def touchdown as they keep piling it on what a play by the defense there loose football country fumble pick it up with room scoop and score no doubt country versus City when it's a country fumble nobody around I got to pick that puppy up and do some damage with it nice job seeing the situation scooping it up making a play lining up for the Pat and with the extra point the lead is even bigger the scoop and score what a lift it can give to the defense not content to get the ball they wanted to do something with it and they did the kickoff team just about set to go and that defense is eager to get back out there after the scoop and score what kind of field position can he help them with on the return not nearly as much as he' hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 Oklahoma State hoping to get the pistols firing on offense off the play fake on first down got it in the middle it's bloster makes the stop at the 30 but a big 15yd pick up gets him out of trouble they'll snap this one from the 30 on First and 10 using the quick game tackled immediately after the catch offense gets set for second down keeping it on the ground with the single back there to make the tackle and with that will'll head to the fourth quarter guys that's the end of the quarter and West Virginia has the lead and as we switch ends of the field let's take a quick look at the national rankings I guess if you're an optimist the stage is set for a massive fourth quarter comeback the Cowboys have it with a first and 10 he wants to throw coming after it and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense man you could tell this offense is frustrated giving up another sack and they're out of sink out of sorts they're just not used to this this trigger man's usually good this offense is usually good they've had a day they would love to forget big first down sack for the defense brings up second down looking to throw it's Bowman pocket starts to collapse trying to make magic with his feet that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there I'm not positive but that first down marker might be in the next County on Third and long no secret what he needs here and he bats it away it falls incomplete and that's just the kind of game it's been for this quarterback in this offense you got a great game playing all week long you're watching it throughout practice you think you're going to have a chance to light up the scoreboard but they're just not able to hook up you got to give this defense a ton of credit they've done a great job in coverage they've been breaking on passes they've had their number and that's why they're leading by as much as they are that's a perfect example of not settling for a fair catch pick up whatever yardage you can and help out the offense leaves it with the back and a pick up of eight opens a world of opportunities on second and two and what you see late in games man those teams that can really run the football and run that clock when they got a lead you really win a lot more football games so I think you look for them to be physic go down the stretch of this game try to continue to do this on the ground continue to eat that clock they'll keep it on the ground trying to milk the clock at the 40 there he goes and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end fresh legs man and it is showing of course this team had the buy last week and you're seeing it right now late in the game running the football imposing their will against the defense that looks tired of course they had to play played last week and and you're seeing that right now got some room headed to the goal line touchdown Mountaineers and the route is on that'll give them a little more breathing room as they try to push this winning streak to five man this has been a complete performance the defense has been lights out and the offense obviously just continues to pour it on this is what you call having a great day putting it all together offense defense complimentary football he'll try to add another to their lead the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead and let's check in with Kevin Conor in the studio Kevin Hey guys let's take a look at what's happening in a great top 25 matchup Georgia is currently trailing in this one but it feels like the momentum be turning these dogs have picked themselves up off the canvas before and they are capable of it again today they're trailing by 11 to Auburn we are the eyes and ears of the college football fan and we've got you covered all day here in studio guys and how about that one Kevin will be keeping an eye on everything going on elsewhere well this offense is not put their best product on the field today they've got no points to show for any of their efforts so far but they've still got a chance but if it's going to happen it has to happen now and he continues to fight for yards he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs dropping back it's Bowman can't make the connection the pressure there caused the M timing and it's just been that kind of day for this quart back in this offense guys they have never been able to get into a rhythm throwing the football timing's been off accuracy hasn't been great we've seen some drops just not in sync that's why they find themselves trailing by a lot right here lately game and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big pick up on that one good job by the receiver there not to run into coverage but to find a spot that the quarterback could throw him the ball yeah on those types of routes ree they say if you're looking your booking so if that's man coverage the receiver staring at the quarterback all the way across the field that time the receiver didn't give the quarterback his eyes so they were on the same page they both knew it was Zone and they executed that perfect my job is to make sure that ball comes loose and I got to go through that guy use my shoulder pad drive my feet and really really be physical cuz if he bobbles it at all or as soon as his hand gets to the ball just too much of a rush and down goes the quarterback just behind the Midfield stripe at the 49 man and the defense comes up with the sack and this is the day this is honestly not what we expected we expected this to be a highflying offense you know this trigger man is usually really really on top of things this is a day he would love to forget this is a third and long looking to throw and he needs a bunch getting some heat going to try to get it himself and the defense is there to stop him short of the first down and the Cowboys will bring the punt team onto the field and the returner will be knocked down we reach the two-minute warning and this off is that much closer to salting away a victory West Virginia has it back ready to dive into that Playbook they're in command of this game now let's see if they tried to rub a little salt in the wound or happy with getting the W yeah and listen this this makes the postgame handshake fun sometimes if you do choose to rub a little salt in and keep chucking and keep scoring I'm here for it Jesse like your job is to score points it's my job to stop it keep the foot to the accelerator keep trying to play ball I agree a th% that's like Steve spur back in the day when I was playing for the Gator you go and play for him because you want the opportunity to throw the ball so when you get in the game late you're not handing it off we were beating Central Michigan by 80 something points he was still letting us throw the football it's the defense's job to stop that defense is about getting off the football and when that defensive line can be disruptive and get in the back field right away and mess up those pullers actions on those counter plays it can be really advantageous for the defense great job on the defense being hyperactive and decent gain there before the defense makes the Stop and this is exactly where you want to be as an offensive coordinator like when you've got the lead late in the football game just run the football eat the clock man they've put a good day together they they they've had a they've had their way with this defense a lot of positive things to point to this is one of those weeks when you watch tape it's going to be really fun to watch it not like when you get beat up a lot of big plays from this offense trying to make that Rush think on the draw here they'll move the chains good execution on third down they've got it at the 41 and that's a welcome sight like this offense has really really struggled bottom 50 in college football in first downs so they'll take anything they can get nice third down conversion let's get some positive plays keep it third and short find a way to get this offense in an upward trajectory cuz so far this season they've really struggled and this is exactly what you want to do when you're on offense you have the lead you want to chew the block keep the ball on the ground keep that thing just ticking Palmer they're just imposing their will dve and that's something that we've seen I think all game up front they've been the more physical team they're the ones that's getting push and that's getting movement and it's carrying over all the way here deep into the fourth quarter yeah and this offense has had their way with this defense and they've had a lot of success and I tell you what if this defense wants any chance of coming back they better get physical and stop the run because right now this offense is having their way their work here is virtually done no need to take any more chances they'll line up in Victory formation just complete and utter dominance in this one outplayed their opponent and took care of business yeah Total Domination in all three phases of the game offense defense and special teams this team came ready to play and man it was pedal to the metal right from the opening kickoff and that's how you like it
