Is It Time to Be Concerned About Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams?

what's up guys welcome to the stacks free sports channel here to bring you an NFL mailbag answer to a question I received just last night and it was after the uh Lions game versus the Giants in the preseason and the question was is it time for the Detroit Lions to be concerned about Jameson Williams now this question was after me on purpose you know it wasn't because I'm a lions fan but because I'm a Jameson Williams fan I was very big on him coming out his Drive class in 2022 I thought he was the best receiver we've seen the last couple years uh you know and I I like Chase uh but I was very big on Chase's class what 2021 class so not mistaken I I wanted uh Jalen waddle um if I were to rank well I did rank him on my channel but I ranked waddle over chase sounds crazy you know I know why it was good good in his own right but Chase is just different but I still like the I like the speeder the speeder I like the faster Speedster guys with like the uh with those with the that similar frame of a Jalen waddle of a Jameson Williams those guys just catch my eye I like him a whole lot more you know so I like water over Chase and in the same token for uh Jameson Williams and everybody else in his class I like him or a bunch of other guys like Pickens um of course in the class John mechi uh his teammate Wanda Robinson I like him over all those guys so you know I thought Jameson Williams could have been special and I really think he could have won that game for the for Bama in that game versus uh Georgia that that year also but on to the point last night uh he didn't look the best you know and this is now 18 months coming off of off of his ACL surgery had just when I was talking about college Years in in 2022 um he didn't look the best last night dropped a couple passes you know I had a bunch of targets bowling came down with like one and two catches uh that 2.04 that two-point conversion cash was a nice one and was needed but you know um for me right now it's still too early to really to really harp down on them be like oh he gotta do better but I I do feel the need to be like hey it's time to you know he needs to play I did like to see the the Lions play them deep into this this preseason game he should he should play that way in every game because especially he's gonna miss the first since game because of the betting issue that well the betting violation he had this off season so he's gonna miss six games already sending back more he only played in a couple games last year had one catch for uh I think 41 yards so you know he's gonna need to definitely pick it up and ramp it up this off season but I do like what Dan Campbell said just basically saying you know just need some refinement you know he still believes in them as what he's supposed to say not supposed to say I I don't believe anyone I don't trust him I think he's gonna be trash but I do believe when Dan Campbell says that he doesn't believe in them because they kind of have to you know they they spend a nice amount of draft capital a capital excuse me to go up and get them in in uh in that Year's class and especially too the line's been drafting great for the last couple years they've been making some great moves and I would really hate for Jameson to be their draft their their big draft Bust from that Year's class you know because every year for the last system management came in about the last two or three years they've been drafting well you know so like I said I would hate Jameson to be the one guy that didn't pan through for him you know but um as I said before I'm a big Jameson fan my big Jamir Gibbs fan so you know I hope those two for the most part paying out for the uh Lions but I do believe in James Castillo and I think the Lions do too uh like I said they kind of have to so am I worried right now as a Williams excuse me as a Williams fan no but I did like to see the matchup between him and Deontay Banks the uh young rookie from from the Giants the Speedster I think he went to Maryland not mistaken uh they they were strive for stride but I did see it at the very end of of the route that Jameson did get some space just can come down with the ball so you know that does give me some hope even guys who can match his foot speed he still can get a little bit on them you know and still beat him just a little just just enough to come down with the ball you just gotta come down with it um next time so but all in all though I think some refinement needs to happen uh cleaner routes you know uh better routes or I say uh some some better route running but uh pair them up with the main offense you know pair them up with guys who are dangerous like cephas not see if excuse me is uh out of the league now currently but guys like I'm Ross uh Saint Brown and all the other guys and pair with the running game you know in in in the mix of a of a tough hard game I think Jameson can definitely break a couple plays right now you know same way he did for that one catch last year you know but right now him being a focal point with a lot of guys sitting for and as far the starting goes at least not playing the full game he's he he's the focal point so everything is on him but you know like I said when the main offense is out there Williams could get lost in the sauce and that's when he can definitely make some That Make some noise and do some damage on the defense so uh either way it goes I think I don't think he'll be a bust but I think he might not reach his full potential but right now I'm not concerned about it you know I think he's still on a good track going a little slower than normal but you know the injury plus now that the suspension kind of set him back but uh you know I can't wait to see preseason game two three and see how he does not like I said hopefully the Lions play him for the most game for most of the game like like they did um this this past game here playing all the way to the third quarter you know play them let them get his rep scene because he mil he will miss all that time for his betting violation so uh so yeah my answer is I'm not concerned but I can see why some some people are you know but uh we haven't seen enough of them yet to really to really know you know and I feel the same way I feel the same way kind of about my my favorite team the Falcons and about Cal pitch we haven't seen enough of him yet at least we're not with a good a good quarterback but it's a little different Williams hasn't really been there because of injury you know we have seen them a couple games last year uh and I said this year haven't seen him a whole lot just one just one game all the way to the third quarter so well the second quarter so it's a little different but you know um yeah I feel the same way about pits after after two years now or going going on his uh third gear I don't know what we have in him you know he had one great year and we had excuse me last year was cut short of the injury and we had Marcus mariotas our starting quarterback for the first what eight nine games you know so you know kind of definitely a different two different situations but I kind of feel the same about both players but definitely I feel strong about pits Williamson we didn't know nothing about him but stuff just one catch in a regular season so uh but yeah we'll see what happens um hopefully he has a better game too game three hopefully stays healthy and keep his nose clean for any more violations so uh that's it video guys like share comment subscribe I will see you guys next time what's
