Will Carlos Rodon PAN OUT in New York? | Yankees WASTING Oswaldo Cabrera

all right folks welcome back in this is Yankees unloaded I'm Jake Ellen Bogan he is Gary Sheffield Jr the Yankees lost 5-2 today to the Washington Nationals um and to be honest with you this was a really disappointing series especially the way they started it off um obviously we know you know it wasn't great pitching in general but um McKenzie Gore you know shout out to him he just you know he pitched a really good game today Carlos rodon we're going to be talking about we're going to be talking about Juan sto's struggles that really no one has really mentioned and that's what happens when you hit what nine home runs over the course of 10 days uh and we're be talking about why Oswald uh Oswald Oswaldo Cabrera needs to start whether it's in leftfield or first base we have mailbags we're going to get to and we want just want to give a shout out uh to Brian fukes who signed up as a field level member and Brew CT signing up as a second deck member we appreciate you guys so very much we're up to 16 members we just started this thing it's crazy pretty good so yeah shout out to you guys yeah what are our questions because I hope these are good I think they're pretty good I also have to I have to remind people uh if you don't have access to this you can't watch this on YouTube I saw somebody was a truck driver can't watch YouTube while they're driving um you can find us on an audio format literally just look up Yankees unloaded or check out the link in the description below wherever you get your podcast you can tune in to Yankees unloaded that is going to be typically uploaded after this so if you want to see the video the video is going to come out before the audio the audio comes out later uh but yeah you can check that out now let's get into it we do have uh some interesting ones so wolf Rock and 74 I have a serious question for you guys and I would love to hear your honest opinions if we can't win a game against some Lefty on the second worst team in the league how can we expect to beat the best pitchers in the game during the postseason cuz I honestly can't see it happening my friends I'm literally nervous for another first round exit how can't we be the be guys uh so wolf Rockin 74 appreciate you very active participant in the mailbag Gary um what are your thoughts because I think we've talked about the lefties uh it has been an issue the Yankees cannot hit lefties I will say this I think Aaron Boone is just bad at creating Lefty uh lineups I think a lot of these guys have very low um you know the the sample size like we talked about with Austin Wells is super super small and I think they're overreacting to the small sample size and just saying yeah this guy can't hit lefties but then they're trotting out tavinho who also can't hit lefties and they're just making assumptions based on the past and when we do that Gary you know it'll lead you to believe that DJ J Mayu is still an MLB starter so uh where are you on this I'm going to I'm not going to lie to you Jake I'm not going to lie to our audience I am concerned I am concerned not necessarily about what we do against Bad teams because if you look at what we do against the good teams we play very well and we have the best record in the American League by a game for a reason and that is for what we do against good teams but when it comes to left-handed pitching we don't do a very good job we just don't we're in the bottom half of the league and scoring runs against the Southpaw and I at this point I just feel like it's not even necessarily the lineups that they're building gabber Torres a player that I would expect to be hitting lead off we talked about it yesterday what to do with the four and five spot I mentioned to you I'd put JN Carlo given what he does against lefties he hits very well traditionally in starts against against left-handed pitching he was in the four spot Anthony vulpi been swinging a hot bat I think this game and kind of what happened with you know Gore today is just what happened with brodon and I don't want to dive deep in a rhana because I know we're GNA answer this later but when you give up four runs in the first two innings of the game you pretty much got knocked out and you're in catchup mode for the rest of the game and it puts a lot of pressure on you basically what I'm saying is given what the Yankees are doing against left-handed pitching it almost seems like pitchers are coming into these outings trying to be perfect and everything but so I am concerned I am very concerned about what the Yankees do against left-handed pitching I think it's a problem when we Face Arizona who is they have very good left-handed pitching they they got Montgomery right Rodriguez and like I said before they're preparing for the Dodgers but inadvertently I guess they're preparing for us as well I didn't expect that to happen but it did it's it's happening before our very eyes I don't expect if the Yankees face a really good left-handed pitcher like if they face to TK scoble in the postseason it's not going to happen but if it did I wouldn't expect success so we're just going to have to cross our fingers that for whatever reason things change between now and the beginning of October baseball because as of now we have no reason to believe that'll turn around no I I think that's that's very fair um I I really do think a lot of it is on the the lineup design though I I think the lineups are just really the problem um I mean you have black holes in your lineup okay you know I don't care about the splits I'm just going to be honest with you I'm over the splits put the best hitters out there and more often than not you're going to win ball games I mean that's just really what I I've come to the the realization of I mean let's be honest you can't just say that the Yankees lost this game just because they went up against a left-handed pitcher right right and I feel like it's honestly a little bit of an excuse and a cop out because they went up against a right-handed closer and it you know we we can talk about how they they got guys on base and everything and they've they've definitely pushed Finnegan they have but at the same time you know they're going to be different guys in the bullpen lefties righties Galore and that starter is not pitching all nine innings so there are opportunities I just think when you have guys like DJ lahu in a really tough spot where you know you have the Bas is loaded and he grounds into a double play I I mean I think that's a killer I think they you know momentum is real spot is that funny we call it a tough spot bases loaded with less than two outs you would assume that that's a that's an opportunity most good players in the league see that as an opportunity and you're completely right it is a tough spot because that's not an opportunity for the Yankees it's almost a bad thing when DJ lahu Alex Verdugo who I don't want to pick on because he was pretty good this series but if a lot of these guys come up in a situation Jose trino he comes up with the bases loaded less than two outs you're almost holding your breath hoping that there's a strike out so the next guy has an opportunity and it that's sad it really is sad because we're rooting for all these guys to succeed yeah there in no way does it benefit us to see DJ lameu hitting 200 this year with a slugging of 526 or his Ops as 526 excuse me even worse so this doesn't benefit us so yeah no I totally agree with the way the whole assessment that this is really it's almost a bad thing that we have opportunities with those guys coming up and when that happens and your eight and nine hitters are essentially outs yeah it does put more pressure and then of course when you have stto struggling it's not going to turn into runs and I mean keep this in mind too this is this is a best case scenario lineup with lahu and Verdugo in because there's no there's no uh trino but a lot of the time Trevino's in there against lefties and that's the problem is now you talk about three black holes in the lineup and again I understand what you were saying with Verdugo he's been hitting better as of late since he switched his batting gloves but I mean to be fair though you know Verdugo hasn't been great most of the year he's actually been bad more often than not and lameu has the lowest on base percentage that I've seen for a consistent starter this year uh besides uh one guy on their team the other team uh Ruiz um so you know I I just think that yes it's an issue to answer this question it is an issue um and we'll see what ends up happening I think Jason Dominguez will will wait till he comes up and see you know if this helps but I don't know how you haven't already you know shaken this up doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results is the definition of insanity but you know I'm not the manager of course uh Moving On by the way thank you for the the question again uh will rock and 7 before Ed W another very uh consistent participant here I think we need to be discussing Tim Hill he's got a 227 ER since coming to the Yankees opponent's Ops is 602 his soft contact stats are all in the red on baseball Savant like best in baseball right now watching his appearances I see a lot of defensive problems causing runs let me know if you think Boon is sleeping on him or using him the right way so I'm going to bring up Tim Hills baseball Savant because I'm very curious not saying I don't you know obviously believe you Ed but I need to see it in front of me like I I want to have the visuals I think you're going to be happy with this and yes they're very good uh as far as it goes with Barrel percentage 100 percentile ground ball percentage 100 percentile extension 85 percentile walk 72 percentile average exit velocity 80th percentile expected ra 72nd percentile so yeah um this is this is really good because you know keep in mind the K percentage is is in the first percenti like he's low in K percentage with percentage all that he excels and he is one of the best at doing what he does and that is generating ground balls generating soft contact um I actually really like that he brought this up now he's 34 so let's get off the train of Tim Hill is going to be the this you know super Bullpen guy for the next 10 years okay this is a oneye thing yeah oneye thing but be that as it may this is impressive this is impressive numbers Barrel percentage is 100 a barrel is anything off the bat at 95 or more uh exit velocity so guys don't hit hard off of Tim Hill they don't do it and so I think end of the day Gary um I I love these these mailbag questions because they're thought-provoking and it also kind of forces us in a good way to kind of turn our attention to guys that maybe we miss because we do a lot of research and we do try to you know it's not a Normy show okay we're we're really trying to dive into the nuances of this team but with that said sometimes we miss things and I don't think we talk about Tim Hill enough like this is I didn't see this Savant page I've never looked at this Savant page before and uh I like this yeah love that this was brought up I'm gonna pump my breaks here and this may disappoint some maybe you see this as realistic this is where I'm going with it I can't necessarily look at baseball savant in terms of hard hit right how hard someone hits the ball off of a certain pitcher ground ball rate normally when you see Barrel percentage being at 100 and you see ground ball rate being at 100 essentially what that's telling you is he gives up the weakest contact in Major League Baseball of qualified pitchers and he's always giving up contact and I want to bring up a player in comparison to Tim Hill and that is our closer Klay Holmes now both of these players shouldn't be looked at under the same microscope one is a not even a setup man he's really a middle relever as specialist if you will and one is he his responsibility is close the most important part of the game so where I'm at is that the defense of the Yankees is pretty shoddy it's not good okay our defense at first base whether Rizzo was there we actually mentioned before and this is not Tim Hill's fault per se but it is the hand we're dealt our first baseman Ben rice hasn't been spectacular over at first base Anthony Rizzo he wasn't good at first base better than What DJ lahu is doing currently but remember DJ lahu is currently our everyday first baseman he's not good over there okay glaber Torres leading the league in errors at second base again not Tim Hill's fault but it's the Handy's dealt it's the roster Short Stop Anthony vulpi he's been excellent over there at Short he's been very good third base in jazz Chisum Jazz chism's made eight errors in the last well in his tenure with the Yankees that's a lot now I consider him a solution he's still I don't think long-term a problem for the the Yankees at third at least defensively but when you have someone making nine errors in the span of just a couple weeks with the team your second baseman leads the league in errors your first baseman is in his mid-30s who's going to be returning on a rehab assignment no one's good over there at first base well that leads us to Tim Hill who leads the league in attempts for these guys and that's why I'm so worried about Tim Hill not about what he does but how it affects our roster and if it's going to work for what we have and I don't think it will I think he's done a pretty good job I've been happy with the job he's done but I think long term I think this is gonna fall through yeah I will actually say this so Savant for the you know the the pretty stats the the visuals right um it looks good I did actually look down at one of my new favorite things is looking at run value and uh really his Sinker run value is at four which is good but he's giving up a 307 batting average against his Sinker which is his number one pitch okay now I get that like okay he's not a whiff guy so like just typically when you're pitching a contact that's going to be pretty high but in like 2021 he had 475 pitches thrown with his four seam fast ball and they had a 200 batting average against it which by the way this is why we brought in Mark ligher Jr Mark ligher Jr again you look at baseball Savant page baseball Savant is not baseball these are just tools to help you figure out who's a fit for your team if it matters right and can things change Mark ligher Jr was brought to this team from the Chicago Cubs and when you looked at his baseball Savant it told a story that he's going to miss bats well when he got to Pinstripes he became a lemon he's not missing bats matter of fact he's got a GPS cracker when he lets go of the ball it goes straight to a barrel and it goes over the fence that's who Mark lider Jr has been can it change I guess so numbers long term suggest that it can change but it hasn't as of yet now he's a guy when he's right he's going to miss bats everybody knows this it's whether or not you think he's going to achieve it with us that's the mystery here we don't there's no direct science to this but when Tim Hill is right his numbers will look like this and the ball will be rolled on the ground leaving gabber Torres Jaz Chisum or Anthony Rizzo and vulpi to make these plays I don't like that so I think that's where I'm at with this whole thing that's my conclusion this is not his fault but given what our roster has currently I don't think this is exactly the type of guy that you really want but I mean we don't have many lefties so I guess this is what we got yeah I mean I think he is a guy that can give you you know an inning and a third um sometimes he can go to but yeah I I do I get what you're saying I like that Ed brought him up I think he's pitched well at the Yankees for the most part but at the same time there is definitely a concern um that he's going to get hammered you know come October um and even if he doesn't think about that even if he doesn't the defense is not necessarily good enough to have a guy that generates contact because this is the same thing we talked about with uh you know Kay Holmes but appreciate you appreciate you wolf Rockin 74 uh you guys you know participating in the mailbag anyone that wants to just type mailbag all uppercase letters you have to be a field level member but we will answer them um we like answering those questions now on to Carlos rhon oh this is Juicy this is essentially the meat and the potatoes of this show because Carlos rodon Had Gary and I really thinking back to Carl pavano who I always accidentally say all the time I call him Carl pavano all the time for whatever reason pavano Kevin Brown even and I would say a better comparison is AJ Bernett and I think Brett's actually very similar because the Yankees already have their Ace in Cole you know and they go out and they get their second kind of power two in Carlos rhon in free agency AJ Bernett was kind of that supposed to be that power two to CC Sabathia in free agency and I I'll be honest with you like Bernette people like him because they remembered game two of the World Series and he's part of a 2009 World Series championship team now with that said though Bernett wasn't amazing and the thing is I guess it's it's a similar thing because based on how they're pitching in New York or how they pitched in New York you know in combination but rodan's different in that he's actually shown in the past to be an elite pitcher Elite we're talking Sai Young level 237 erra like he's had that in his past um now more often than not he hasn't been that and we talked about this before the year we talked about the reality of Carlos rodon if he doesn't get it together he's going to be more often you know that four erra guy then he is that 288 ra guy in 2022 and the 237 ra guy in 20121 and so Gary you know I'll I'll pitch it over to you but you know he's 31 years old he's now had two almost two full seasons in the Bronx um now he was hurt you know I'll give him that he finished last year with a 685 er a 1.45 whip this year it's 4.31 ra with a 1.25 whip he's 14-9 this year was 3 and8 uh the year prior now he actually and this is kind of funny the next win he has will be a career high but wins don't mean everything if we're being honest and Carlos rodon today was just unacceptably bad against the Nationals um just really did not have it today um you texted me early on I don't see how this guy's going to make it through three Innings like I mean it looked bad now he got himself through five and two3 but he gave up five runs and now strikeouts are the thing that people will look at and be like he struck out eight like it it repairs everything it doesn't it does not repair everything no it doesn't you know so I guess really what I want to say here before passing over to you is that I think it's it's you know the real question and this might be the title this might be in the thumbnail of this video I don't know you guys are watching after the fact so you're probably laughing at me but the real the real question is can Carlos rodon pitch in New York and when I say that I'm not saying can he literally pitch in New York can he pitch in the Bronx is it too big for it he's obviously thrown quite a few games at this point he's actually pitched uh what I mean he's pitched 27 games this year alone right what I'm saying in that regard is that can Carlos rodon pitch in New York York and be worth the moneyy they gave him can he be what they paid him to be or is his ceiling always going to essentially be there but essentially the Baseline of getting to that point he's just going to be a lot less version of himself in New York where as opposed to with the Giants you know he had a 2880 and with the white soxes last year he had a 237 ER can he get to that point or is this who Carlos rodon is and we're just going to have to deal with it being a little bit over four er guy right yeah so I'm glad that you teed it up this way because essentially what you're saying is you're asking can Ron be the best version of himself can he be that version that we saw in his All-Star years with the Giants and with the White Soxs is that can it be unlocked in pinch drives and that's where our answer comes out and I guess it's no at this point and I guess we have to be realistic with who rodon really is because there are comparisons out there it is pavano it is AJ Bernett and I actually want to bring up an interesting stat that I saw from AJ Bernett because when people talk about comparisons a lot of times the numbers you see you try to look at somebody who has the same manorisms right they're more of a bulldog they're expressive they're eras are similar and these are some of the ways that people come up with these distinctions but I want to bring up some key numbers numbers from AJ brnette and I'm just going to talk about his 09 season because obviously his ER R after that was in the fives but here's the 2009 season for Bernett he pitched 207 Innings very key here 207 innings for the Yankees his erra that year was 404 so when you look at Carlos rodon and how that compares you see his erra and it's pretty similar it's around the four it's 416 so that seems very similar 431 now but yeah it's now 431 but the difference between 431 and 404 rodon can go out and throw seven Innings of shut out ball which he just did two starts ago and it can just go right back down to that figure but here's where I bite back on those comparisons Carlos rodan's career high remember AJ Bernett threw over 200 Innings almost 210 innings his career high was in 2022 where he threw 178 Innings so the Yankees knew what they were getting obviously baseball's changed baseball is going towards you give us the best five innings possible if we get anything past that it's all gravy it's all icing on the cake awesome well AJ Brett's erra was around the low fours but he's also pounding through the sixth and seventh inning actually saving some Bullpen so I don't think all eras can be treated the same I don't think these guys are comparable at all in my estimation Jake if I'm being completely honest with you I think if the Yankees tried to push 200 Innings out of this pitcher we'd be looking at a guy very similar to the version of AJ Brett we got after the 09 season where Z was inflated in the fives because when we talk about these pitchers I almost feel like we're watching boxing where you get knocked down once as a starting pitcher and they're just like throwing the towel we're not going to let him get knocked out ice cold that's pitching today pitching is this version where you throw your starter out there if he's got his best stuff then you leave him in the sixth inning and You Yank him right away bring in the super relievers well Carlos rodon goes out there he's getting punched in the mouth by the Washington Nationals in the second inning to the point where I text you and said if this lasts to the third inning I'll be thrilled that's how bad it was and this is where I am when it comes to can he pitch in New York I really and I tweeted this I feel like watching Carlos rodon is a player that just hasn't mastered composure he is as I described it drowning in a glass of water this is a saying my wife uses all the time you just can't pitch this way you have to have some level of composure and as of now he's not showing it pitching in New York is under a microscope we're going to analyze every pitch every mistake every win and we're going to essentially Elevate everything you do well and pretend it's even better than what it was that's what pitching for New York is everything is exaggerated everything's overanalyzed and when you get out on the mound and you're this expressive personality you make a mistake throw a fast ball right down the middle The Scouting Report says the wind is howling out to dead center field and right field in somehow some way Carlos rodon gives up a Fly ball to Center and he's mother effing in his glove and I can't believe that ball went out well when we hit a ball and it carried out which happened today no one was complaining we just knew The Scouting Report you give up a home run they get back on the mound and now it's about executing the next pitch Carlos rodon you can watch him in the fourth inning see a couple pitches see his body language and go oh I can tell what happened you could literally go to the bathroom for the first three Innings come back and know how he's actually pitching just by looking at him that's a problem in New York that's a problem when people are analyzing your every move it needs to be different and I would expect guys like Garrett Cole right maybe some old pitchers like masahira Tanaka who pitch and pin stripes can tell him that sometimes you don't have to show what you're feeling all the time as a Yankee I think it's a recipe for disaster it's not working and that's the area of his game that I think needs to improve if he wants to get back to that version that you saw in San Francisco or Chicago that was all really well said Gary and you know I I love the the bit that you had about Bernette because I didn't even think about like that not all eras are created equal and actually it was different it was a different game back then I mean I'm looking at Bernett pitching log and I mean I'll just read this off to you five and a third eight six and a third five 7 six 7 and 2/3 6 and 2/3 6 six seven uh obviously he had a bad game here and there two and two3 seven six and a third seven seven six and a thir six s seven four and 2/3 seven and 2/3 6 8 five six 5 and A3 six 7 7 five and 23 six and a third and five and like that look at Ron's last five starts he went 6 and A3 5 and A3 five and 2/3 3 and a3d six and then today he didn't go five innings so the question is if your erra is four and it's comparable to this pitcher who threw 210 innings are you really the same pitcher because your erra is similar to his you come out in the fifth inning every time you go out there and you're not by the way our strength of schedule is appalling the rest of the way it's atrocious he's not facing Houston in a lot of good teams he's had good starts he's had a good start against Baltimore he had a really good start actually who was that against not Colorado it was actually Toronto wasn't it no it was Boston the start he had against Boston we gave him as much credit as possible we try and be as objective as possible great start went into the seventh inning gave up two runs we were pleased with his outing but who are you every time you go out there most often rodon is coming out early he's getting punched in the jaw we talk about comes out and pulls him out the game and then we're going to look at his erra and talk about a comparable from a 2009 season because of his erra I I disagree I I just I see a pitcher that we don't trust he could be good tomorrow you know sometimes maybe good sometimes maybe sheit is is what it is that that's the saying he he's the meme I I will I mean I'll say this I think the Bernett comparisons Fair based on when they got Bernette what you know how they paid him to the second guy second fiddle to CC Sabathia I think you know and rhon they paid him to be second fiddle to you know um Cole and I think Bernett was essentially a guy that they threw money at to be the evil empire I say that all the time I and I looking back at this now having looked at the game log and everything and I mean keep in mind there were those I think it also speak volumes to gerardi as well as a manager gerardi kept him in there when he was giving up 10 11 hits in a lot of those starts right and that he just and they would win those games they would win those games broadcast said about him today so mind you the yes well it wasn't the yes broadcast it was really just it was not Michael K yeah and so the broadcast today mentioned and they do this a lot when a Yankees pitcher goes out there and struggles right and a highly paid guy mind you Garrett Cole Carlos rodon most notably so Carlos rodon goes out there and by the fifth inning for those of you who watched all this game and for those of you who had the unfortunate reality have to having watched this entire game the way I did in the fifth inning he had his first one two three inning and the broadcast said he's finally finding a rhythm well if he had found this earlier this would be a different situation well you know what his job is not to find his rhythm in the fifth inning his job is to find it earlier that's what makes you a successful pitcher it's great and all that you figured it out in the fourth or fifth inning and you get up off the mat that's awesome but when you give up four runs in the first two innings against Washington when the Yankees clearly don't play well against teams below 500 when you give up those four runs that's pretty much it that's it it changed the enti entire trajectory of what the Yankees were looking at on the field today when you talk about their offense being one for 13 with runners in scoring position did it help the offense feel like they're in the game I'm not going to give them a pass but how good does it feel being on the road in Washington you know The Narrative of how you guys play against lefties and then Gore looks as incredible as he did and you're supposed to just show up and start raking when a guy you're paying $162 million can't find his rhythm till the fifth of course you're going to lose the game that's what happens and that's those are the ramifications of not figuring it out you're paid $162 million not a year but in your career with the Yankees so that we don't have to wait to the fifth inning for you to find your Rhythm that's actually why we pay you so we don't have to wait that's the luxury of it and unfortunately we don't have that luxury we were out of the game in the in the second inning in my opinion yes you can technically come back but I mean how many teams come back down 4 to zero in the second inning of a game it doesn't happen often so yeah I just thought we got punched in the jaw rhon was mostly responsible for what happened today and then you tee that up with what Gore did I mean this game was over early yeah and by the way one thing I want to bring up about Bernett and and rhon I thought this was interesting the Yankees paid Bernett when he had never had any postseason experience never that was the first first time 2009 was the first postseason he had ever pitched well guess what rodon he's only had two games that he's pitched in the postseason with the white socks in 2020 and 2021 and he has a 1350 er a three whip he gave up four hits and four runs all earned in two and 2/3 okay his whip in ER is infinite in 2020 now very small sample size but it's kind of funny right because they you know a big thing that is brought up when you pay a guy how is he going to perform in October and really that's all that should matter when you sign somebody because obviously what I mean by that is like there's a baseline they have to be good enough to play in the league and they can't just in October but really that's kind of the thing this is why like you know signing on Soo and trading for Juan sto like this is a guy that's going to change the complexion of this team in October he's a different type of guy when you talk about hitters you know he's few and far between and I just feel like this rodon thing could be even more of an issue that we're not talking about when it comes to the postseason so I want I don't even want to hear that say that I know but I just wanted to be honest and open and and I I feel like you know once we get diving into into a topic um cuz that's an interesting thought I mean they really sign this guy and again I wanted him so let me just make that very clear I am never going to turn tail on a take I had I thought it made perfect sense to sign him this is a guy that was coming off at 288 ER season a 1.03 whip so he wasn't walking guys he was striking guys out he gave the Giants 178 innings was totally fine with that I didn't like the L but that's part of the problem is that when they signed him you weren't seeing contracts like you're seeing now with you know a guy like Blake Snell you weren't these guys wanted eight years so they didn't have a choice they did not have a choice the Yankees had to give him eight years or he would have gone somewhere else and to be fair I agreed with it I didn't agree with the length but you had to do it so whatever what I will say though is looking back at this I didn't even think about postseason because if you're the Yankees who gives a rip about anything else I need to know if you can win in October that's what I need to know we can win technically speaking the Yankees can win 112 games this year right yeah if that happened and we showed up to the championship series and the Orioles just crapped on us in four games we would be upset immediately absolutely it would not be considered a success we wouldn't look at any consolation prize we wouldn't say well at least we broke a record nothing would matter we literally could break the win we could break the alltime wins record 125 games we could win and if Carlos rodon showed up and he pitched like a lemon in the championship series having been paid $162 million well we all would complain that's why AJ brunette again is considered a success regardless of what he did in 20110 and Beyond and with whoever as long as you pitch that big game two in the World Series we don't give a rip what you did after that no your job is to help us pull the Rope to win once and then after that we'll worry about that then but again it's all about what can you do for me and when it matters that's what all these that's what every listener that listens to our podcast they want to know what are we really going to look like when it matters yes we're talking regular season baseball yes we're playing the Nationals and we should beat up on them but what we're all really trying to decipher here is when it's October baseball what is Carlos rodon really going to look like how much can I trust this guy should I turn this game on and pray or should I turn this game on and have positive expectation and right now there is no possible way I can tell you guys what he's going to be but Jake you've mentioned his track record his track record whether he's pitching in front of plastic mannequins in the stands or he's pitching in front of fans he's gotten shelled in the postseason so what I'm telling you guys our listener you need to be careful about your expectations with rhon come October I'm worried like I said before I'm worried about us against lefties in general but this pitcher who's considered our I would say he's considered our three should we worry game three in a postseason Series against a really good team in baseball yeah I don't have a ton of confidence but there's a reason we gave him this money he can miss bats you've seen when his change Up's on he is very good that version you saw of him against Boston maybe a couple weeks ago that's the version that we need to show up in a very small sample size in October I just can't possibly in my right mind give you guys a prediction that'll happen no one knows no and I don't see how you would even be able to figure that out I mean he's looked terrible but it's been such a small sample size two games you know yeah so yeah that's that we wanted to touch on the rodon thing I think we did a good job of that like I told you guys it was going to be the meat and potatoes of this show let's move on to our second topic here Oswaldo Cabrera um Gary I'm getting actually infuriated when I turn on the Yankees and I don't see Cabrera in the lineup I mean I I'm gonna say I'm gonna tell exact I'm literally gonna say exactly what I told you offir if Oswaldo Cabrera and I don't know for sure but I'm I'm just gonna make a kind of guess here if Oswaldo Cabrera was just let to play the whole year right and I mean they have this issue with Wells they have this issue with young players I mean Jason Dominguez is still in the miners for God's sakes but yes um if Oswaldo Cabrera was just giv the keys and he was playing every day like vulpi and it didn't matter where he was like whether he's playing third left field first base I don't really care he'd have an 800 Ops he'd be hitting around 270 27 and he would be somebody that we're talking about as completely changing what we know about the future of Yankees baseball and what I mean by that is if somebody like that comes in and you're seeing that maturation and you're seeing weals then you know you have judge and you're you're obviously the hope is that Soto resigns right you have a decent amount of guys vul's starting to you know hit the swing the bat a little bit better lately jazz Chism all that if they had another guy in Oswaldo hitting the way that I think he can and I think he's been disrupted multiple times I think it would kind of change the whole complexion of this lineup because now you have another guy um that can put the bat on the ball I've been really impressed with the you know the exit velocity on him because a big thing for him is that oh yeah he's just soft contact Lazy Fly balls Gary every single time the broadcast brought this up he's hitting around the screws I mean it's he's hitting beams out there and now I know he caught it you know I understand that and unfortunately he hit it so hard vulpi couldn't even tag from second yeah I mean you know but the reality is this Cabrera is a more exciting player than DJ lahu DJ lameu is a I I mean I cannot even believe how bad he is at first is terrible at first base he is not a good Fielding first baseman we need to understand that this is not exclusive to him defensively like he is a really good defensive third baseman he's a plus Fielder he's a plus Fielder at second base he can't play first he is horrible at first as a matter of fact I've pointed this out Gary when Jazz has you know an errant throw I understand it's a bad throw but first baseman needs to get in front of that you can't be trying to stretch it out or you know half acid or stab at it and we've seen DJ lahu playing you know doing like things that you'd see in Babe Ruth from a first baseman and it's just not acceptable so I mean when you aren't a good Fielder and then you have an Ops that is in the 500s I have no reason but to assume that you're just not very good and you shouldn't be in the lineup and then I look at Cabrera Gary and I'm like they finally pinch hit him and tonight okay he didn't come through in a sense but he got the bat on the ball really gave it a ride out there and that's really all you can ask for is just a guy to be able to come up there and be able to you know have contact generate you know hard contact and really lock in and I've been so impressed with as Waldo Cabrera because I think the biggest issue with him uh when we saw him when he was called up because he was called up to to you know essentially light a fire under the Yankees ass in 2022 let's let's not forget they went through really bad spell and they called him and they called um you know perza up now Cabrera's biggest issue that I had when I watched him was that he swings at everything he whiffs like crazy well he's really turned into a really solid hitter he doesn't whiff at everything he's actually making contact he's been way better at taking pitches his Approach at the play has been noticeable and I just personally think that Aaron boon and the Yankees have absolutely wasted what could have been a really good year from Cabrera he's got eight home runs 35 ribbies he's a 665 Ops he's hitting 248 I think those would be much better if they let him stay and play every day build a rhythm build some confidence that's what I've been so impressed with with him about because he can just basically turn it on like you you know he's a pinch hitter he can come in puts together a really nice at bat I just don't see that from guys that are getting playing time every day and to be honest with you I don't care where he plays I just think he's earned his right to be in the lineup every day and I just think that they've absolutely botched this the fact that this guy has only played 95 games this year and he most of those games played aren't games started he's come in in the eighth and ninth inning so Gary I think there's a chance that he could have had like a 20 home run season 25 home runs and I think they absolutely pissed it away playing guys that aren't as good as him I'm just saying that yeah I I completely agree now do I think the ceiling was going to be there I think it could have been but let me say this about DJ lameu specifically and then we're gonna rubber band this back to Oswaldo Cabrera I'm trying to figure out it's one of two things if Oswaldo Cabrera doesn't play first base at this point if is it because he's 5'11 as opposed to DJ lahu being 64 or is it because DJ lameu makes what he makes because that's a legitimate question are the Yankees back in a situation where we are seeing Aaron Hicks 2.0 and I think there's a real it's not just a possibility it is a probability that the Yankees are playing a player based on contractual obligations and that's a real shame considering a team calls itself to be in win now mode yes now network broadcast them as though they're in win now mode they sell us that they're in win now mode they sure as hell sell us chicken buckets that cost what a win now team would cost and yet I'm seeing a player who's 6 foot4 that is has a slugging percentage in the low 400s who's hitting 200 he got hot to get to 200 okay so let's be very clear he doesn't run he's hits ground balls more than any other player in this league and you mean to tell me a player hitting 250 this year as a part-time guy who was one of our better players the beginning of the year he absolutely fell off a cliff no question about it but he fell off a cliff after becoming a part-time player there's nothing DJ lahu in my opinion is better at other than playing defense at third base than Oswaldo Cabrera that's my opinion on it and he also can't like he's not athletic right we're talking about a player if because people are probably wondering well Cabrera is not that great either so why are we clamoring about this player and to which I bring up the numbers his last 30 games because I think a lot of us would agree 30 Games is a decent sample size 30 Games 30 Games Oswaldo Cabrera in his last 30 is hitting 288 288 he's hitting okay so I don't even need to read you guys what his on base percentage is because you know he doesn't walk a ton it's not a ton higher than 28 but who gives a rip isn't this exactly what they told me Alex Verdugo would do isn't that what they told me he's going to hit for a pretty high batting average he's not going to take any walks he's gonna be free swinging isn't that what he's been the last 30 games so why is it that Alex Verdugo can spend 120 games not hitting for a high average not taking any walks being League average or below League average in left field and then we have DJ lameu played third base we went traded for jazz Chism so now DJ's relegated to first base he doesn't hit for power he doesn't hit for contact he hits a lot of ground balls with runners in scoring position and guys in first base into double plays and he also still strikes out so what exactly is it that's in it for me as a podcaster or the audience watching this product as opposed to Oswaldo Cabrera who could possibly be playing Left Field or be playing first base take your pick I don't care where you want to play him in my estimation Cabrera should just be playing first base right now given that Verdugo is kind of having a late spark and then Jason Dominguez should be called up immediately and put him in left field I think the solutions are very simple and then if you believe that Rizzo is an a viable option for the Yankees this point forward if the Yankees believe that then you put him when he's ready who it seems like he's getting ready put him at first base but DJ lahu what's he done what's he done outside of something from 2021 well we don't sign players to Big contracts because of what they did in 2021 we talk about what they've done in the short term and yet we put guys on the field who have failure not just in the short term but honestly in the long term as well it's disappointing this is on Aaron Boone clearly and I don't care if DJ lameu is on this roster obviously I don't think he should be but that's cash problem that's his call Aaron Boon doesn't make these decisions he doesn't say hey I think we should DFA this guy no he might make recommendations but ultimately probably stays out of it he probably Minds his own business and he puts guys on the field that he thinks should be out there well who said just because DJ lameu is on this roster he has to play no he shouldn't so that's where I'm at with it I think Cabrera based on what he's done in a pretty decent sample size he's proven he can do something to help the Yankees until Rizzo's on the field or they find another solution out at first base I absolutely agree with you I I mean it's it's really frustrating Gary it's it's frustrating to look at a guy that I mean I I think he's just GNA end up being a part of a a package like he's just going to be traded and I think it's a waste I think he's absolutely being wasted in New York um he has a 313 batting average with balls in play um you know the last four 14 days and last 28 days he's in he has 906 uh 907 Ops so it's just like I I mean we already saw this guy have over a thousand Ops to start the season he was on a tear and Boon had a chance and this is actually something I want to bring up and you might be a little surprised I'm going this direction but this is something that's not talked about Boon is a players manager he had a chance to reaffirm a young player that his results his production and his maturation mattered to this team and you know what he did he said lahu is gonna be our guy when he comes back and how do you think a psyche of a 25-year-old kid how do you think he felt he continued to play but you saw his numbers almost immediately after that started to go downhill that's the thing I think it was a missed opportunity here you had a young player showing potential star power early on in the year not saying he was going to be that but he was showing that early on was playing out of his mind and we've seen that Tino Martinez had like 13 home runs in the first 12 games of the year we've seen that before but this was this felt like it's going to eventually have a soft regression but that regression is going to still average out as a really good above average baseball player oh absolutely Jake can I ask you a question a lot of us are in the workplace imagine being at work and your boss tells you hey if your production doesn't start picking up or become more consistent we're going to start interviewing other candidates and we may replace you right some people might deal with that very well and pick it up some people may fold under the pressure but that pressure is realistic and it's just seen as business there's nothing wrong with it but imagine you're working your hardest at a job and you're doing pretty decent and your boss tells you not only are we interviewing to replace you it doesn't actually matter what you do from this point forward this interview after we're done this weekend they will replace you you're done after this weekend and then later on if we want you again we'll call your number so don't don't burn any Bridges here at this company you hang on hang tight we may call your name how hard and how well are you performing then how hard is the average 25-year-old going to play how well are they going to perform we just saw it and you know what ton of credit to Cabrera because this takes a ton of professionalism and it kind of goes to show you our locker rooms in a lot better shape than a lot of people probably think when you have a player of this age get you're told hey it wasn't like a superstar took his role at third base Brooks Robinson didn't show up and take his his job no DJ lameu because he's under a big contract took his job that's the reason he's playing it's not any measurable it's not anything offensively no it's his contract that's what happened and we're sitting in this situation now where a 25-year-old kid and I don't even I hesitate to call him a kid he's still a young person he's not a kid yeah and he showed up he was thrown on his butt and they didn't believe he can take the job of DJ lahu put him on the bench and yet he got up off the mat and he's performing well anyway reward him that's what this is about and I'm not out here just saying well we should do things for morale purposes but isn't Oswaldo Cabrera a better baseball player just overall than DJ lahu just just comparing the two baseball players can't Cabrera play first base to the same level or slightly better than What DJ lahu is doing probably does it matter that he's 4 or 5'11 probably not it probably doesn't have any it doesn't matter okay it didn't matter when they put him there in the first place that's the only reason we have this idea Gary because they've actually played him there nine times this year so they've shown that it's not about height and yet if it's not about height which I told you it's one of two things it's either height or contract there you go we're talking about something that is happening on the field to negatively impact a win now organization because of what they owe you have to pay DJ lahu regardless you do it's so what do people want should Sho Otani be getting innings in 2042 because they're paying $70 million of that pro-rated contract should that happen too yeah it's it's frustrating um to no end honestly because yeah you know I I actually I saw Boon had said something about you know in the past or whatever this is actually funny I'll I'll I'll wrap this into something so Boon said something recently uh presser like we can't just forget about what he did in the past or something along the lines of like you know he's earned that like lamei whatever he's earned the right whatever I just and you'll you'll see where I'm going with this sea McVey of the Rams just said the exact opposite of Aron Bo he just said what was his exact quote the Boon quote no I want to know the exact quote of what McVey said so McVey basically said I don't have the exact quote in front of me but basically said when asked about Ernest Jones who they just traded the Tennessee Titans one of the top 15 like you mentioned off air top 15 linebackers in football and he said you know essentially yes you know he's been great great for us in the past and he's been an important but you have to earn it every year everyone has to earn it every year that is the exact opposite that organization runs the exact opposite of the Rams or the the Yankees and the reason I bring him up is because I think it it's fair to call that out that was a that's a 25-year-old linebacker that they just sent away and I understand it's a different sport but doing that he was the captain last year Gary and Sean McVey said you know what we you know and he didn't really allude to why he was traded or anything like that but he saying that every single year these guys have to go and earn it nothing is given and the Yankees are basically Boon at least is saying well in some facet what lameu did in the past still has to hold weight and I hate to break it to you but that level of thinking while it sounds nice and you know we're family and all that and maybe it's good for locker room morale because you're having his back well keep this in mind Gary to have someone's back you also have to not have someone else's back especially in sports and so instead of you know making Oswaldo Cabrera feel like he's part of the family making him feel like he's you know this upand cominging guy that we should be excited about by the way he's doing this with Austin Wells too maybe just not as hard but he is um Cabrera is 25 years old he's playing better than the 36y old vet and the 36-year-old vet is getting this well he's done this before and all that and it's like Cabrera is basically just getting left out in the cold and again Gary that is the opposite of the sentiment that Shawn McVey and the Los Angeles Rams are operating with and I I hate to bring them up just because you know obviously like want to just make this a ram show I talk about them a lot but I think it makes a lot of sense I think the comparison is fair because it's two professional teams and one that actually won the championship within the last four years and another that there's a big reason why they haven't won a title in 15 years so I I and they've been a two actually in the last they're saying out of respect for what you've done for us yes that earns you playing time which by the way I need to bring up DJ the last time that he was a great player for the Yankees and not I shouldn't even say just a great player the last time he was a player worth having at the top of a lineup okay now mind you we paid him to do exactly that we would not have brought him back if he wouldn't be that okay let me actually pull it up for you guys oh yeah that's right that was during the covid shortened season where he played 50 of 60 games that we played he hit 364 the year prior in 2019 he hit 327 this is exactly this would be like remember when glaber Torres had that huge year where we hit all those homers against Baltimore but then last year and the year against Baltimore they every home run he ever hit was against Baltimore it was absolutely ridiculous that we called that an amazing season it wasn't they were purposely losing games for draft picks but anyway that's neither here nor there we're talking about glabber Torres last year and the year prior okay 2023 2022 he was excellent very good player okay but also glaber Torres was amazing in that season against Baltimore right and he hit 37 home runs spectacular that's the player the Yankees were hoping they were going to get but if those two years from glaber Torres which were last year and the year prior didn't happen glaber Tores should be gone by now it does not matter what you did five years ago what matters is who you were in recent history and who we project you to be if you were pretty good in recent history and we absolutely can all conclude yeah in the future here we don't expect him to be a real contributor with this team whether it be via injury or he just lost it his way on the field if you can make that call you should no longer be on the field for the New York Yankees a team saying that they're in win now mode but suddenly a player who hasn't hit above 268 since 2020 four years ago this is not a real conversation this is not really about winning this is a conversation about respect and relationships and relationships and respect don't win you a World Series Championship it wastes our time I'm spending $30 on a chicken bucket and you think I paid to go see a player that hasn't hit over 300 in four years and his main job is to hit for contact he doesn't have power his slugging is 400 no we are wasting time here we are wasting outs and we are losing games it's affected the Yankees in 2024 in a NE way and I take exception to that yeah and I think Boon would come back and say well Lefty righty splits and I would say you know the problem here is that Cabrera with his 71 at bats they're literally looking at that and saying that's enough it's 71 sporadic at bats that's what I need to get through people's heads is that a lot of these splits you can't even really take Lefty righty platoon splits especially because these are sporadic he's being thrown out there in the ninth inning totally age so it's it's really irritating um it's also irritating with Wells but you know Wells actually got a run at least as as the starter and Wells still feels like he plays more often than not Cabrera I feel like they forget about like truthfully I feel like they forget about they forgot about him when he was hot remember that that series against the it was the Guardians and then they played Toronto and like we're talking about this guy he's been great and his Ops is over 900 and he missed like four games in a row and we're like he was on the outside looking in it didn't seem like he was in the circle of trust they treated him like he was an anomaly which is insanity interesting because as a team you can assume it ends up being an anomaly you can assume this is all Fool's Gold but you as a team you need to hope that's not and you need to make sure you find out whether it is or not and I don't feel like they gave Oswaldo Cabrera a chance to really prove himself at any point this year he played before lahu got hurt during that time it was constantly oh lahu this lameu that he's going to take over it's not and I think it killed his confidence and at the same time you know he's he's hit well as of late so despite the fact he gets sporadic at bats you know he's had he's 9 for 29 in August that's not a lot of opportunities but he's making the most out of him yeah and then Boon will be like yeah he's a nice option for us off the bench it's like well if the roles were reversed and you put Alex Verdugo on the bench okay or DJ lahu and took him predominantly Off the Bench would you say that this level of production that we're seeing is considered an asset Off the Bench Boon would admit he's he played baseball no this is not an asset I wouldn't bring a player hitting 200 Off the Bench and say that this is an asset right so having said that why is it that that 200 player can be considered an asset as a starter he's just not he's a black hole he is a detriment and unfortunately they're not very diligent they're essentially just waiting on Rizzo to come back healthy and just throw him at first base and somehow some way I guarantee you against lefties they're just going to throw Rizzo right back on the bench and say yeah we just like the split with DJ they're going to platoon's never going to play nope and it bothers me because then people would say well you know do you play him at third and you move jazz I I don't think he needs to play Third I think you just need to find a way to get him in the lineup every day oh wouldn't you know isn't that pretty much what we always say about Austin Wells playing the best players every day regardless of where they play in the field I don't we don't give a rip I do not care I mean I think at the of the day when Rizzo comes back if you want the best lineup we'll see where verdugo's at with these new batting gloves and everything he's he's all the way up to 234 now that is fair I mean he's gone up eight points in batting average if he continues to hit well that's an exciting Dynamic but if he ends up just kind of flaring out when Rizzo comes back then the best opportunity to have the best lineup possible is having Cabrera in left field until you call up Jason Dominguez I'm sorry that's the way it is yep so agree so now uh last but not least here um and we'll make this quick we're not going to get too much into Juan stto but Juan sto's struggling now I didn't really know the numbers until Gary brought them up um so I give you a lot of credit Gary because I mean it felt like juano was struggling as of late um and I think this is very uh normal anytime and we saw this with Ben rice the three home runs in the game it actually ended up kill you know killing him because what he would end up doing is going up to the plate and now he's changed his approach and I think what we've seen with Juan sto is that he's actually changed his approach Gary um even the best this is a reminder even the best can change what they're doing Juan stto is known as somebody that has a very level swing he's somebody that doesn't really care about home runs as a in a sense he's really just trying to get on base he'll drop a bunt down like he's just trying to help the team but I feel like when he started hitting those home runs I think it got to his head I mean he's this is a career high season for him and he just hit a bunch in a short amount of time and I think we started to see just a little bit and it sometimes it just takes just a little bit where that launch angle is definitely you know it's a little bit up it's not as flat of a swing as it was before and I mean when you're constantly going to the plate and this is you know this is your routine Gary the the flat swing and everything and now you're starting to try to swing for the fences a little bit I think it can take you out of what you do and put you in a slump and I think that's what we're seeing with Juan soda yeah I'll make this very quick for me it's not necessarily about what is batting because in his last 30 Games he's hitting 228 his on base is still pretty productive 376 but he's not paid the big bucks to walk his job is to hit okay walking is just a bonus now having said this for me it's more about timing and strength of schedule I think in general there are EVs and flows with Seasons they are always going to show up we saw with Aaron judge this is probably the best version of Aaron judge we've ever seen and he was an abomination in the first month of the year but like I just said that was the first month of the season on a short and spring training right so there's context to this situation but if Aaron judge decided to hit the way he did in May and do that in September now we have an issue now we have a problem so I can't say that this is a problem because I do expect this to turn around here in a hurry but it is somewhat of a short-term problem because you can't have your two hitter who's hitting in front of Aaron judge who's our main source of production and you can't hit 189 in a span of a 15 game stretch that just that's something that shouldn't necessarily occur part of the reason why we're going to Fork over $600 million is hoping that these EVs and flows don't happen as often and you mentioned his batting average which is very interesting because I've widely considered what juano is doing as just an explosive one of the best years of his career he's almost hitting in the 280s his batting average is 291 so that is an interesting topic not a problem is on base still 421 is op still above a thousand spectacular year 37 homers so all that's the real deal but when you go play a Washington team who does have the greatest staff in the world it's not terrible but it's still Washington they're not in win now mode and you go 0 for 12 with 3ks and you get on base one time the entire series it will affect how the Yankees win games it will affect their offense so it's just something worth bringing up it's something to kind of circle see how it changes and I expect this to change quick yeah I mean the last 14 games he's hitting 163 his Ops is not even 800 so I mean yeah he's definitely in a slump I think it's to say um what is interesting is that his home and away splits are identical almost identical I mean he's hting 296 at home 292 on the road uh he has a over 1,000 Ops uh at home and on the road that's very good yes uh he's had he's had five more away away games um and he has 19 home runs on the road and 18 uh home runs at home and the reason I bring that up is because he's going to be at home against the uh St Louis Cardinals uh the Yankees are going to host them um it's gonna be Eric fety is how how you say his name uh versus Marcus strowman um I don't think fetty has pitched at all this year oh no he he has okay he's not Lefty is he he is a righty so I think the Yankees I think the Yankees win this game um I I feel very good about that they acquired him from Chicago and uh with fetty I mean he's pitched well um you know the last two games gave up one run in six against Minnesota struck out seven and then he gave up two runs against Milwaukee in five and two3 but he has given up five that was his first game against uh the Chicago White Socks or against Chicago Cubs he was traded from the white socks gave up five and then he gave up four against Cincinnati uh he's got a a 423 ER in the month of August since he was traded to St Louis um not really a true strikeout pitcher but can miss bats so we'll see what ends up happening he's giving up five home runs he averages about a home run a game and I think the Yankees are due for some home runs I think they're ready to get out of Washington DC and who can blame him um and I think they're going to be uh they're going to be hit in some home runs uh not tomorrow but uh Friday we have a we have an off day tomorrow so Gary um you know I'll say this before we get to the bad movie uh that you I might even recommend you watching because it's just hilarious it is but um before we get to that tomorrow is an off day so we're gonna try obviously we're you know we're very busy and normally off days are kind of like our break but the benefit of you guys um we want to try and and come out with something tomorrow um we're not really sure what it's going to be could be about you know some minor Leaguers could be an isolated topic but we want to keep the ball rolling so uh look out for that tomorrow regardless though definitely send this to everybody you know uh let's see if we can get this show to blow up to 15,000 views and everything I'm just kidding it's probably not going to happen on an off day but hey I mean we we'd like that um we do appreciate you guys but before we go if you made it this far okay this is the movie One Missed Call it is uh it is it's hilarious I I'm sorry I the premise of the movie is that if they call you and you don't pick up you die that's the that's actually the premise of the movie which by the way Jake I really miss that I'm Miss creativity like obviously with creativity and with producers trying to be creative you come up with really stupid ideas really bad ideas but that's kind of where we were with comedy too because I mean comedy's gone in the music in the film industry it's gone Cinema it's all movies about it's horror movies about exorcisms and bunch of dumb stuff that we don't want to see and everything has to be reboots remakes nothing creative bad CGI and all the creativity is just out the door so for those of you who haven't seen this movie because it is it is pretty bad at the very zero on Rotten Tomatoes a zero it's a zero on Rotten Tomatoes it's a bad movie so yeah we actually almost recommend it that's how bad it was but at the Le at least we can give them an a for trying something it just didn't land and um it's just I'll give their props to that yeah especially the way Gary says it he's like if they call you and you don't answer you die and the thing that's so funny is like bro what if they call me and I'm asleep like I feel like I was cheated you know what I mean like what the hell but obviously you know you got to see the movie I guess I again I I don't want to say I recommend it but I kind of recommend it in a sense like if you want just kind of like a funny a funny meant to be horror film but just so ridiculous one miss call um and you can look up the ringtone on uh on YouTube because that that was actually the big thing it's funny it got a zero on Rotten Tomatoes but that was actually a very popular movie for being so terrible it's like shark NATO I mean we do have stupid movies every once in a while and shark NATO is the one movie that is remotely recent that's stupid and we kind of lean into it I really think if one miss call came out today it it had a shot to be the 20 24 version of shark NATO it would have been morbius that's what it would have been yeah maybe they would there would have been memes Galore but yeah uh definitely put in One Missed Call if you got to this point so we know that you stuck with us all the way through and we do appreciate that so we're going to try to deliver some content tomorrow but if not uh definitely enjoy this we'll be back on Friday um very important series against the Cardinals this is a team that is going to give the Yankees you know they all they are trying desperately they are one game below 500 trying desperately to get into the playoffs I have nothing against the Cardinals but the Yankees need this game they need to beat the crap out of them because this is going to be a team that is desperate and desperate teams are scary so we'll see what ends up happening but appreciate you guys and we'll see you guys real soon and like this video
