REFERENCE. THERE YOU GO. SO WE'LL HAVE TO STAY TO THAT LOAD OUT. IT IS GOING TO WARM UP LATER IN THE WEEK, BUT WE SAW THAT CLOUDY LOOK, YOU KNOW, EARLIER IN THIS YOU KNOW, LITTLE DREARY AS WE START A LITTLE VERY LITTLE GLOOMY THIS MORNING. WE ARE SEEING SOME SPOTTY DRIZZLE, SOME AREAS WITH SPRINKLES OUT THERE THIS MORNING. A VERY GLOOMY LOOK ALL AROUND NORTHWEST OREGON UP. THERE IS A SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON TO THERE'S A PEEK AT RIDGEFIELD. THE AILING A CASINO SHOWING US THOSE GRAY SKIES. >> AND LOOK OUT TOO SEASIDE. YOU CAN SEE THAT AHEAD. THEY'RE JUST SHROUDED IN CLOUDS AS WE KICK OFF OUR MORNING AGAIN. IT'S NOT TOO RAINY, BUT WE ARE SEEING SOME SPRINKLES AND VERY LIGHT POCKETS OF MIST OR SOME LIGHT SHOWERS AROUND THIS REGION. HERE UP IN PORTLAND AND UP TO RIDGEFIELD. SO YOU MAY NOTICE SOME DAMP CONDITIONS IF YOU'RE HEADING OUT EARLY. >> THIS MORNING, TEMPERATURE WISE, WE'RE BACK IN THE UPPER 50'S TO LOWER 60'S HERE. IT'S A MILD START. AND AGAIN, PORTLAND REPORTING SOME VERY LIGHT SHOWERS RIGHT NOW OUT THERE AT THE AIRPORT. SAME STORY ALONG THE COASTLINE. SO THAT GLOOMY START AND THAT DAMP START OUT THERE FOR OUR MONDAY MORNING. NOT REALLY SEEING MUCH RAIN ON THE RADAR, THOUGH. THAT MEANS THE SHOWERS ARE JUST VERY LIGHT OUT THE DOOR. BUT AGAIN, POSSIBLY SOME WET CONDITIONS ARE DAMP CONDITIONS, RATHER, AS WE KICK OFF OUR MONDAY HERE AND AGAIN TODAY SHOULD STAY MAINLY DRY. HERE'S YOUR PEAK AT A STOLLER WINERY. THEY'RE OUT AND WINE COUNTRY FROM DAYTON, OREGON. STILL A NICE DAY TO MAYBE GO WINE TASTING AT THOSE WINERIES ARE OPEN. WE'LL SEE A MAINLY DRY DAY. BUT A CLOUDIER START WITH A FEW SUN BREAKS AS WE HIT THE AFTERNOON AND WITH ALL THE CLOUDS OUT THERE TODAY, WE'RE ONLY GOING TO WARM UP TOWARDS THE MID 70'S. SO NOT EXPECTING THE HEAT THAT WE GOT THIS PAST WEEKEND. INSTEAD, WE'LL SEE A MUCH COOLER MONDAY HERE AND LABOR DAY AHEAD. NOW, HERE'S A LOOK AT OUR FUTURE CAST. THIS WEATHER MODEL SHOWING US WHERE THAT RAIN MIGHT GO TODAY. THE COASTLINE MIGHT KEEP SOME SPRINKLES OR SOME LIGHT SHOWERS GOING FOR THE 1ST HALF OF THE DAY. AGAIN, NOT REALLY EXPECTING MUCH RAIN IN PORTLAND, BUT THAT CLOUD LAYER SO THICK OUT THERE. THERE IT IS EXPANDING FROM THE COAST INLAND HERE THROUGHOUT MIDDAY THAT WE COULD STILL SEE SOME POCKETS OF SOME SPRINKLES OUT THERE. MAYBE EVEN THROUGH LUNCHTIME BY THE AFTERNOON, WE ARE LOOKING FAIRLY DRY. BUT AGAIN, THOSE CLOUDS DO BREAK UP. MAYBE A FEW SUN BREAKS AND WILL KEEP MAINLY DRY CONDITIONS IN PLACE THROUGHOUT OUR DAY TODAY, WHERE THE COASTLINE COULD HANG ON TO SOME SPRINKLES. NOW A LOOK BACK AT OUR AUGUST. WE JUST WRAPPED UP AUGUST THERE. AND NOW WE'RE IN SEPTEMBER. THE UNOFFICIAL START TO FALL, BUT WE'RE GOING TO KEEP THE HEAT GOING ON SATURDAY. WE HIT 99 DEGREES. A VERY HOT WRAP UP TO THE MONTH. WE SAW SOME SCORCHING HEAT ALL THROUGHOUT AUGUST 2, ESPECIALLY FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF WEEKS OF THE MONTH HERE. SO AS WE ENTER OUR FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER, WE ARE TRACKING A COOLER MASTER COOLER AIR MASS RIGHT OVER THE REGION THAT'S JUST IN PLACE THROUGH MAY BE TUESDAY BEFORE THAT USHERS OUT THE DOOR AND WE START TO REBUILD HIGH PRESSURE. SO A WARMER AIR MASS AND THAT HIGH PRESSURE SETTING UP ALL ACROSS THE WEST COAST SEA, WHICH IS A PATTERN THAT TENDS TO KEEP US DRY AND IT TENDS TO REALLY HEAT US UP IN THE SUMMERTIME. SO AGAIN, WE'RE TRACKING TEMPERATURES SKYROCKETING BACK INTO THE MID 90'S. HERE'S A PEEK NOW AT MY TEMPERATURE TREND GOING INTO THE WEEK HERE WHERE BY WEDNESDAY WE COULD SEE THE MID 90'S AND THURSDAY, POSSIBLY TRIPLE DIGIT TEMPERATURES AS WE HIT THE END OF THE WEEKEND, WE COULD NEAR RECORD HIGHS TO THURSDAY'S RECORD IS 101 DEGREES. SO BACK IN 1944, 80 YEARS AGO, SO WE WILL RIVAL SOME EIGHTY-YEAR-OLD RECORDS COMING THIS THURSDAY. NOW THESE NUMBERS WILL STILL JUST AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEK, BUT EXPECT A HOT TREND HERE BY WEDNESDAY IN THE MID 90'S. THAT HEAT PEAKS MAY BE ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY AND THEN STILL THIS WEEKEND, LOOKING AT TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 90'S. SO SUMMERTIME IS NOT DONE YET HERE IN THE PORTLAND AREA. BE READY FOR THE HEAT.
