league debut here and I'm sure he's got some nerves he'll be excited for that first pitch to be in and over with so that he can settle in to pitching just like he did in the minor leagues exciting moment he's got his family in town I think This Moment's going to be a huge tone Setter for his career and now for Seattle Julio Rodriguez trying to pick up his first knock in the big leagues this one in the air center field and there's one down and now we check out the Mariners lineup and one of the most exciting young stars in the sport Julio Rodriguez and he's leading him in runs bed end this season which tells me this guy is able to slow slow things down when it seems like there's a little bit of pressure and he's looking at as an opportunity to do damage you know a lot of guys they see Runners on base and they get big now a rock it to Right Center way back there and forget it it's out of here a gigantic blast and they grab the lead it's one nothing you can't ask for a better start than hitting a home run in your first at bat to give your team the lead with a low 90s fast ball you have to live on the edges and hit your spots if you don't you'll get hit hard really good swing there patient waited for it was like BP all over again base is empty one away now it's Randy a Rosara that one hammered center field canani going back pulls it in and the warning trap the number two out space is empty and next will be the cleanup hitter Luke rley looking for his first big league hit right here clobber to right field way back on a massive home run second home run of the inning for him and they add a run it's two [Applause] nothing love to see a hitter aggressive on the first pitch of an at bat you watch him from the on Deck Circle so when you step in the Box you're ready to pull the trigger wherever it's at really good job by the hitter total conviction on that [Applause] swing so two down Justin Turner up next for the Mariners first pitch and that's in for a strike oh and [Applause] one two outs that one drilled left field it bangs off the wall takes the turn he's digging for second the relay throw and he's safe it's a wall ball double Justin Turner with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you can take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you worked to get [Music] here the matter now Jorge palano [Applause] that one is absolutely belted it's a bomb PGE palano goes deep their third home run of the inning and they tack on to their lead it's 4 nothing well he put a really nice swing on that one and everything was on time took a direct path to the ball excellent extension and just drove it out of here nothing better than when the ball jumps off your bat like that two outs nobody on JP Crawford gets a chance to hit that one's in there strike one well they've been able to score four runs off of them in this inning and this is where you want to just max out get as much as you can give him one of those tough Innings where it's going to be hard for him to recover in the next one right through there for a strike got to be careful here this is the type of hitter that can punish you even with pitches outside the [Applause] Zone this one smoked on its way out of here [Applause] they do it again backto back homers his first Homer of the year and they add a run it's five zip [Applause] [Applause] backto back Jacks and this club is fired up right now Bo I mean this is the kind of thing where you really start to notice hitters in a lineup feeding off each other and the collective confidence just continues to grow so two away with nobody on Mitch Garver up to H here that one sizzling on its way through to the Outfield so a two out Knock keeps the inning alive Mitch Garver with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you worked to get here runner at first with two away Josh roax up next for the Mariners buting for a hit on the Run sends it over to first they get the out and that'll do it but nine batters hit in the inning five come around to score on to the bottom of the first it's the M5 and the Cardinals [Music] nothing back here in St Louis on the hill here today Luis Castillo well he's been a very dependable starter for his club and what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him and it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball maybe it's the release point maybe it's the motion just some way somehow they've got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side the W to kick the pitch Mason win the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one five run laate after their first at bat that is huge at this point but you've got to keep the attitude to keep your foot on the gas don't let that team back in this ball game cruise to the finish line but do it with intention this is a very important inning after scoring All Those runs you want your pitcher to come out and just mow them down the offense has worked hard it's shut down anytime miss no [Applause] stri and that's Ball [Applause] Four leading up for St Lewis Alex burlon next up for the Cardinals dress is so exessive in percentage Advantage when you always have connection the opp for and first offering is fouled off [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and delivers outside runner at first with no outs here all right and the next pitch is way outside and another [Applause] ball swing and a ball hit out towards left center field a ro Arena sizes this one up makes the catch batting third the first Bas here's a Cardinals lineup now a really frustrating showing for them in their last game lots of traffic on the bases but they left a ton of Runners on base couldn't cash in their chances Chris they had plenty of chances there's nobody to blame it on but themselves offensively they just did a poor job converting in those situations you have to figure out what's your plan going to be maybe watch some tape from the last game make the adjustments so if you get those opportunities in this one you've got a much better chance of scoring some runs and the one wouldn't chase that time he hasn't wanted to challenge in both of those pitches off the plate away don't expect anything down the heart of the plate you may just have to be patient and take your walk here next pitch misses way outside man at first one away and there's Paul four two walks in the first has to be some cause for concern I mean you're talking about a guy you want to pitch deep into the ball game it's not going to help with the pitch count right there they can't afford to hand out free bases at this rate here's Nolan arado and the first pitch misses for ball one Logan Gilbert into the game and he's got a nice lead to work with so you should come in throwing strikes attacking these hitters we got to stand we got to ride we got to fight yeah nation divided yeah we fighting each other oh my God take a look at your brother this starts when you stop loving one another tears Dr never stop falling from my own mothers we need some answers we need some action we need some bless one out Runners at first and second that one way outside two one hard hit down the line and left nbar calls it in and there's two away up next for Seattle the Le Feld and stepping in for the Mariners Randy a r Ro Arena 0 for one with a fly out to Center michelis 35 years old and he was drafted in the seventh round back in 2009 and a base hit right there and that keeps the inning alive Randy a Ros arena with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you for the Mariners base knock right field so that's two straight two out hits throw in holds the lead runner at second two on now with two away the first that's a good sound coming off the bat man and as he connected out front ripped it into the Outfield that's one of those swings where you just don't even feel the ball hit the barrel that's a pure stroke and he lays one down the left side arado to First in time and Turner is return TI and that is the inning Mariners leave a couple but they hold a 5 nothing lead bottom of the inning and now the right fielder Jordan Walker right and the pitch and that's outside that Miss by a lot and now two and0 Gary Simmons are played umpire today sort of has a reputation as a pitcher umpire yeah a little bit of a wider Zone than most I'd say and a wide Zone can be tough to deal with as a hitter cuz you have to start expanding what you're looking for covering both sides and with the stuff pitchers have today just not going to have a lot of success free bow and that's outside [Applause] go here's a three-oh and there's the [Applause] automatic and of foul ball payoff pitch there's a swing and a drive that one carrying gone he'll Circle the bases his first Homer of the year and they're on the scoreboard it's 5-1 he ran the count B and saved his best swing for last that was a battle and he [Applause] [Music] won knew what pitch he wanted to hit one one on nobody out a run in bottom half of inning number [Music] two not close with that one and that's ball two well he's really working him away this sbat sometimes take a little bit off velocity try to get a roll over something on the ground stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield next offering way off the [Applause] plate let's see if he gives them anything to hit here right through there for a [Applause] strike Dives but it kicks off his glow here's one and that's all they'll get well I really like this right here he knocked the ball down on that dive and then was able to pick it up get it to second base cut that lead Runner off and that's keeping a guy out of scoring position so the lineup flips over and the batter will be the short stop Mason WI let off the bottom of the First with a [Music] walk the short stop takes a ball [Music] [Applause] and another ball this is one of those situations the infielders have to pre-plan and understand that the ball's got to be hit extremely hard right at them if they're going to have a chance to go for a double play way outside and now three [Applause] and0 come onard come on the pitch hey [Applause] foul ball the pitch and down on strikes he goes two gone now well just couldn't pull the trigger on the fast ball right there and I don't think he was taking it thinking it might be a called ball or anything I just think he was flat out frozen did not expect that location in my [Music] op next to hit takes outside well if he's going to steal second you want him to go early in the count that way he's not a distraction to the hitter at the plate go ahead and get it out of the way so the hitter can focus on the pitch two outs two balls no strikes to [Applause] count wouldn't chase that time [Music] the inning and they're chipping away it's 53 that gives them hope they can pull off this comeback they just need a few more swings like that and they're back in [Music] business if there's a most predictable count to get a fast ball it's still three balls in one strike I tell you what that hitter was ready for it he got his pitch and he absolutely unloaded on it [Music] two outs B is empty and here's Paul goldi walked his first time pitch misses and it's w to know and the right-hander deals that one way outside ball two Gilbert maybe a little less aggressive on the M right now after that home run Chris yeah it seems that way you know pitchers they can come out feel good but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit and they start trying to throw instead of pitch they're not trusting their [Applause] [Music] up next offering in there for a strike that's strike one well he's been good for the most part is it going to take someone going out to the mound to maybe refocus him a bit well partner every pitcher is a little different I I liken it to you sometimes you come in and you're not as focused and I kind of do what it takes to get you on track and then you have a great show uh so perhaps it's the same with him nobody really wants their Rhythm broken up but sometimes they need a little pickme up got him looking that's the inning but two round Trippers in this inning the long ball was working it's now a 53 ball game you're watching Major League Baseball on the [Music] show back here in St Louis on to the third inning and now it's the switch inning second baseman Jorge palano michelas back to work and that one hammered that's back there up against the wall and brings it in and up next for Seattle JP Crawford he's already homered in this game drilled out towards left center field that's well struck and that should be extra faces around first heading for two in safely it's a double and his second hit two hits for him in this one both for extra bases got to feel good about that I love the approach he had right there with that pitch not trying to do too much but still looking to drive it and that's exactly what he's able to do into the opposite field gap for the double one out runner at second here's the catcher Mitch Garver this one popped up Pereira makes the grab and they're two [Applause] down here's Josh roas he's 0 for one drilled to right way back there and that is gone and they boost their lead it's 73 oh that one won't stay below the radar that made a lot of noise that's exactly the pitch he was looking for crushes it and hits what the next pitch is going to be you just got to hope that you can make contact out towards Right Center that's well struck out of [Music] here another Homer his second home run of the game and they add to their lead it's 93 [Applause] no matter how this outing ends that pitch is going to haunt him for a while an 02 mistake that's supposed to be a Pitch Out Of The Zone he left it in a spot that the hitter could do some damage with and that's exactly what he did manager out of the dug out now and it looks like we'll see a change on the mound miles michelas departs we'll be back in a minute with a new arm on the mound Sunny gray on the pitch here and with the big deficit on the scoreboard he almost has to just put that out of his mind every outing matters for relievers in their numbers but I think it's tough to get up for this type of appearance the same way you would for one in a close game Randy a Ros Arena up next for the Mariners swanging a highfly ball in the air left field Nar drop step going back and that one's gone they go backto back and they add to the lead it's 103 Randy Ros Arena could probably run the bases blindfolded with the amount of home runs he hits welcome to the game first pitch out of the bullpen a tough one and you know he's just trying to get one in there for a strike and on the other side as a hitter it's a great time to be aggressive and Let It Fly it's not what they were looking for when they turned to him but now he's got to find a way to reset so two down Luke rley digs in now and he lays down a bun fires to first on the run that ends the frame of the bun attemp [Music] back here at Bush Stadium now the third baseman Nolan arado clearly down in this ball game and you can't look at the deficit and try to get it all back in one swing it's got to come one at bad at a time and even shrink it down smaller pitch to pitch make that guy on the mound work to get you out the 10 and another ball [Applause] and here it comes wouldn't chase that time [Applause] no the wide to the pitch that's to Third slings it across one up one down now bat left field at the pl Lars nbar he reached on a walk his first time and that's outside the bang at first singy it looked like you might have beat it in real time but that play was really close so they want to take another look yeah this is a tough decision to make Bo and it feels like it off the plate that misses the zone two balls no strikes two walks in the inning already and he just doesn't seem comfortable out there like he can find the right mechanics and then repeat them three rightand are back to work Garver in his seventh season 3 years old and he was a ninth round draft pick back in 2013 kicks andand deal now a highfly ball out to left Center canani sizing this one up he's got it one away the third baseman number four here's the Third baseman Josh RW they are locked in on the fastb today and we just saw the latest example of it in their last bat they're finding ways to drive that pitch and that one finds its way through so that will bring up the top of the order with one away back to the top of the lineup here's the center fielder Julio Rodriguez rip to Third and caught it's never fun going back to the Dugout after hitting the line drive that finds a glove but you will get some high fives you know when you make great contact you feel like you've done everything right but in this game of baseball not everything is in your [Applause] control swing and a ball lifted in the air left field pretty well struck and it hits the fence around third the relay to the plate safe Wast no time there showed off some really nice Oppo pop with that swing and just couldn't get it over the fence but I absolutely L everything about that approach and the mechanics right there man in scoring position with two away now the left fielder Randy a r Ro Arena that one ripped and one hops Off the Wall should be extra bases runner from second crosses the pl it's 128 and his hot hitting continues they kept him in the yard that time but all he's doing now is passing the Baton and everything seems to get started around this guy Andre Palante takes over on the mouth he has a great slider with tons of [Applause] [Music] movement and next will be the cleanup hitter Luke rley smoked to right center and this one's going to go out of here [Music] [Applause] that one felt good he's done it again his second Homer of the game and they add a pair it's 148 let's break out the stat cast numbers in singy it tells us this home run was projected at more than 450 ft yeah and not many players can hit home runs as far as this one that's a special feeling and I'm sure he was giggling a little bit as he was jogging around the bases that was one heck of a swing he put on the baseball Turner stands in now and watches strike [Applause] one and the righty deals lays down a bunt to the right side [Applause] Goldie steps on the bag that'll end the inning after a lot of scoring so it's four runs for him four hits no errors and nobody left on last half of the fifth coming up the Mariners lead it 14-8 back here in St Louis we head to the bottom of the fifth now the catcher comes up to him Ivon Herrera the pitch well every pitcher wants run support and having a lead is nice but it can be challenging for some pitchers I think keeping the mindset to attack instead of trying to be too fine and have too much finesse go after hitters and get quick [Applause] outs that misses and that's ball [Applause] [Music] three and there's the automatic next offering is in for a strike right-handed reliever that one misses so a lead off walk here in the fifth inning and here he is about to throw his 100th pitch man he's really had to grind through to get to this point so man aboard now at the plate Jordan Walker well just about to hit that century mark 100 pitches for this game first pitch not close and another [Applause] ball wouldn't chase that time the M's up big in this one last half of inning number five that's out to center field Rodriguez settles under it Rodriguez snags [Applause] it the batter number 15 second baseman Jose and at first Jose Fair next up for there's two gone that was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate had pretty good timing on it just got underneath a little bit and popped it up Michael canani next up for the Cardinals singy you got to appreciate a guy who's this good defensively I mean watching him track balls in the Outfield it is beautiful and the first offering is not close and I would say that most great defensive outfielders it's kind of new pitcher for the Mariners Austin V compared to some days this is a pretty low leverage appearance for him so he should be fairly free and easy out there still have to keep yourself sharp and attack the strike [Music] [Applause] zone outside and that's ball two there's one guy that I can think about Boo who started as a third baseman Alex Gordon and then became an elite perennial gold Glover out in left field for the Kansas City Royals but he's a guy when you watch him play you would imagine that that's all he ever played in his life was the Outfield two outs 3-1 and he couldn't come up with it yeah some guys just have instincts right I mean that's the way it goes we talk about Larry Walker the Hall of Famer and his Instinct on the bases despite the fact that he play that a ton of baseball as a kid win in the Box here lets that one go for a ball remember Mark Kat was a real good defensive outfielder good instincts not great speed the one the short stop takes the ball yeah and I figured you would get Kat into this because you had a free dinner at his house the other night this true next pitch misses way outside first and second two down there's the strike and the count is three and [Applause] one in the air right field Ry sizes this one up and that ends the inning [Music] back here in St Louis all set for the top of the six now it's the second baseman porge palano the wine of the pitch and a seed into Center that's a base hit and the lead off man aboard well that started and ended pretty quickly no messing around right there got a fast ball middle of the plate jumped all over it absolutely smoked that ball and now the short stop JP Crawford well struck right field Banks Off the Wall palano coming around third now a relay to the plate he's safe as he gets his hand in puts a run on the board and picks up an RBI when you can turn the ball around at 107 off the bat it's going to make you feel really good inside if he elevates that a little bit more it's definitely out of here so man aboard Mitch Garver will hit next one for three Zack bunt towards third arado now one gone in the top of the six playing a little thing that you can do consistently every single game is play great defense if you're talented in that way and this is what this guy does nobody out runner at first ground ball right side could be two
