Love is Blind: UK Proved Britain is Also Doomed… Let’s Discuss! | SEASON REVIEW & REUNION REACTION

Intro hey guys welcome to my channel I hope you're all doing very well so I just watched The Love is Blind UK let's talk about [Music] it so yes love is blind has finally reached the UK as is tradition for many reality TV shows we have seen the Lover's blind franchise spread across the world and this time around it has hit the United Kingdom and so of course as a resident of this island I took it upon myself to take a break from my Hiatus from lover is blind and actually check out this season of the show and oh my goodness I have thoughts I have thoughts okay I have in fact watched The Reunion I am all up to date on the juicy gossip and mess so today we're going to be discussing my review slash reaction to this latest Season of Love is Blind if that sounds fun to you guys then stay let's get into these messy ass couples so first couple up that we've got we're not going to waste a single second we Sabrina & Steven need to get down to we need to get down to business cuz I am gooped and gagged okay first first up we have Sabrina and Steven we have Sabrina and Steven what happened what is going on oh my goodness I have so much to say okay so first of all let's discuss pre-reunion stevenh and Sabrina now when it comes to me and my lovers blind watching and as is the case for lots of reality TV shows to be honest I don't tend to pay attention to like every single second of every single episode I tend to just have it in the background I tend to just be chilling doing something else like my makeup or my nails or my taxes like something else and then the TV show will be playing on in the background like that's how I tend to enjoy these types of shows and so often times I do miss things you know and it's not really a big deal cuz I don't tend to review these so it's like it doesn't even matter it's just the pass the time and so when it came to Steven and Sabrina's relationship their Journey from the Pod uh to their you know holiday trip to living together and then to finally getting to their wedding day I missed a lot of that like I'm not going to lie I did miss a lot of their Journey throughout this love is blind process because not going to lie I thought they were like the boring couple like I thought they were like the standard couple that's just right for each other it was you know meant to be and so of course they would say yes in the end of course everything would be fine and dandy and so as the episodes were passing by and they would have their little scenes together I fully expected them to just end up happily ever after by the end so I wasn't like paying a lot a lot of attention to their story but there were a few things that stood out to me when it came to their relationship I mean first of all you have the fact that they're from two different places uh with Sabrina being from Belfast I believe it was and Steven being from um England and so there was going to be a distance issue but it seemed like they had decided to live together when they were married so that had kind of been resolved pretty quickly from what I saw and then next up the other issue that people have raised since the reunion episode that I didn't really pay too much attention to to the at the time I would admit uh but you know Stephen's previous relationship where his ex was actually really sick and really poorly and she ended up breaking up with him now some Eagle eyed and Eagle eared viewers took that to be a little a little red flag not the glaring red flag which is a tiny little bit of a warning sign that something was a foot uh but many of us just kind of glossed over that we were like listen it didn't a work out that's unfortunate hope his ex is okay but you know Sabrina even seem really good so we have high hopes for this relationship like many of us were just kind of thinking along those lines but oh we should have been paying attention to that red flag the reunion gave us a shock of Our Lives because whilst many of us had expected Steven and Sabrina to be walking into the studio hand in hand you know walking side by side happy smiling and in love no they weren't even they weren't even standing next to each other they weren't even anywhere near each other they were literally sitting across the room from each other there was a lot of coldness there was a lot of tension o it could be cut through with a knife like it was cold okay and then as soon as we got to that section of the reunion all was told all was told well not all actually cuz it was cut off short more than that in a second but it turns out that their relationship broke down uh because they didn't end up living together they were doing a long distance relationship which both of them to be fair just weren't ready for but it seems like stepen really struggled to make an effort and to really um commit himself to the long-distance relationship because he was hardly communicating with his new wife now apparently he's not really a texter or a caller unless it's something urgent which hm but I would say I think it's pretty reasonable to expect that at least you'd be able to contact your wife like at least you'd be able to contact your partner like are you joking because we're not talking about the texting stages we're not talking about the cue little early stages of dating we're talking about marriage here like they both agreed to get married to each other and so tell me why Stephen is turning around and literally not even sending his wife a text literally not even communicating with her while she's in island that makes absolutely no sense to me like was he like out of sight out of mind what's going on here and so they discuss how their relationship broke down because of this lack of communication also because and Sabrina was making more of an effort to visit Steven she had come over to his place seven times as she said seven times at whereas he only came to visit her twice now we already know that this season and the weddings took place a year ago and according to Sabrina she and Steven haven't spoken to each other in 7 months so they were like properly married for about what like 4ish months something along those lines um and so you're telling me in those 4 months her husband her husband only visited her twice twice and she came over seven times that is absurd to me that lack of balance is crazy and concerning but then on top of that you also had the career issues which became a parent during this discussion because apparently Sabrina had you know started her own company she was you know starting this new chapter in her life and in her career and it was really taking off like she really found success whereas unfortunately Steven seemed to have been struggling with his business and his career and he was also struggling financially as became evident the more that he talked the more that he opened his mouth okay he didn't say much but what we heard was was uh was concerning yeah it seems like Sabrina had this new found success she was doing well business-wise and she was living a good life in Ireland and and Stephen perhaps grew resentful or perhaps really struggled to be in a relationship with someone especially a wife who is doing so well when he is so downtrodden and like um struggling financially to the point where his wife has to get him an get him an eye in board and but the ironing board was more of a sign of Sabrina making the effort to accommodate him uh when he came over to Island like she was like listen you had your diary requirements you had your stuff that you wanted me to get for you you wanted an ironing board and I did all of that like you asked and I got it whereas for me when I'm coming over to visit you you don't lift a finger like you don't actually want to accommodate me whatsoever and so it's clear that this is very uneven we're not on equal footing and it's just not going to work out and she said it's not just the case of finances although clearly finances were hot on Steven's mind but it's also a case of just you know showing that you're committed to someone showing that you're willing to put in the effort and to go the extra mile for them if you're not able to do that within the first four months of your marriage then it's not looking good babe it's not looking good for the future I understand that there may have been some tough times that Steven was going through they kind of alluded to that but they didn't really reveal too many details on that which fair enough but from Sabrina's point of view she really tried to empathize with him and support him during those tough times but he was just like a wall like he was just completely different to the man that she knew during the pods and during the show itself and it just became really hard for her to continue to try in and you know push and push and push when he wasn't making the same effort on his end so yeah that's apparently the story of Steven and Sabrina I'm kind of shook like I generally thought that it was a given that they would end up happily ever after together but after that reunion it was so cold o it was so cold so Frosty between them like you could tell they had arguments upon arguments upon arguments during their relationship and so so from what I heard in the reunion they seem to be separated but not divorced quite yet but it's not looking good I'm afraid and yeah I was really surprised by that outcome um but at least we got a bit of an explanation even though it was cut short um because Emma was like listen we need to move on which I completely disagree with we didn't need to move on actually we didn't need to move on we need to get down to the bottom of exactly what was going on because there were a few details that were missing and I understand that these are real people and they deserve their privacy whatever but maybe if we could just dig in deeper for five more minutes just two more because it was such a shock it was such a surprise so like we needed a little bit more time and especially considering they spent time on others like Sam we'll get to him in a second we didn't need the spotlight to be on Sam we needed some extra details okay on what happened between Steven and Sabrina instead but in terms of what we actually got well from the real person point of view I am very disappointed for both of them especially Sabrina if what she's saying is true and she really tried to put in the effort go the extra mile for her husband thinking that it could work out but in the end it didn't that's really heartbreaking and it's really sad to see so I feel bad for her but from a TV angle this was some good this was some juicy good stuff oh my goodness okay so next next up we have Maria and Tom now this is a train wreck that we all saw coming now at first when we were in the Pod stages we saw Tom actually connect with two women it was Maria and Tasha But ultimately he decided to go with Maria cuz it felt like they had a deeper connection they were talking about deeper things like they were really getting into their personal lives their past and especially with Maria suffering the loss of her father I felt like they really bonded from what we saw on the show and so it made sense that Tom ended up choosing Maria and they ended up getting engaged and at first it seemed to go really well Tom was definitely Maria & Tom like attracted to Maria cuz Maria is a literal bomshell let's talk about that let's talk about that for a second okay Maria is stunning Maria is Gorge okay and so yeah they again made for a very attractive couple the both of them together um but I'm sure Tom was very very happy with his decision when he saw Maria coming out looking like a baddy looking like the baddy that she is so like well done on that front it all looked like it was going according to plan until they started talking a little bit long until they started talking a little bit more you know for this couple the stage that broke them it wasn't quite the same stage as Steven and Sabrina that ended up going past the marriage stage for them to be broken but for Tom and Maria it was the like living together stage like the apartment stage uh where it was supposed to mimic real life although in reality it doesn't really cuz you're still on the show and there's still like a script and producers and all of that as Steven pointed out you know it doesn't really give you a real sense of what a relationship in the real world would look like with this person but anyo that was the stage where Tom and Maria broke down that's where it all went to [ __ ] okay because that's when they started talking about what their real lives would look like postm marriage and you could see that Maria had more traditional views and values uh for what she wanted in her relationship you know she is Moroccan and her family her parents raised her in a very traditional Moroccan way she's also practicing a Muslim and so these kind of elements of her values and her culture was something that became more and more apparent the longer that she was with Tom and it became clearer to all of us in the room that there was a big disparity between Tom's background versus Maria's and what Tom wanted in his relationship versus what Maria wanted in her man now ultimately what broke the cams back was the issue of splitting the bill was the issue of going 5050 going dutch okay and in this sense Maria can absolutely relate to half of black Twitter literally half of black Twitter uh cuz this is all that they talk about on that damned app but yes the issue of 50/50 came to play um with Tom and Tom expected Maria to chip in it looked like she was going to chip in but then she didn't and so she failed his test and in the meantime he failed hers by not offering to pay up the entire bill now when it comes to my thoughts on this when it comes to this whole splitting the bill 50/50 situation my thoughts might be a bit controversial but I was kind of on the side of Tom a little bit not going to lie I'm a modern girl okay I'm a modern girly girl I'm not really a traditional person who believes in strict gender roles that is literally not me um and so I was kind of side eyeing Maria a little bit I understand that it's the culture that she was raised in and that's her background and I respect that uh but for me it was a little bit grating like for me it was a little bit jarring seeing someone just stand like on business and be like yeah I'm not going to I'm not going to pay for anything like I'm literally not going to split the bill with you now she does clarify in the reunion that that's not actually what she was trying to convey um and perhaps it was the editing and the way that they chose certain clips that made it seem like she was just vly against chipping in at all at which point I would say that's very unfair to her and to perhaps other people who think in that way uh but for me personally for my personal values I didn't really agree with Maria's stance but I respected that but even though I'm more of a modernist okay even though I'm less traditional in that sense um I still took issue with Tom I still I still took issue with Tom because there were certain problems okay that were really glaring to me first of all it struck me as a bit odd that this issue came about um so late in their relationship like surely it would have been raised earlier and so I was doing some reading I was doing some digging and there was an interview with Maria where she said that she felt lyed to because um the way that Tom portrayed himself in the pods was very different to the man that he ended up being in real life you know during their living together stage where all of a sudden he's talking about splitting everything and you know her contributing and all of that um apparently in the Pod he made it seem like he was in into those traditional gender roles and that's why she was into him in the first place and I can see that I can see how Maria was sold a lie and that's why she had certain expectations and when that was all switched up when they were living together she was kind of shocked and annoyed that that's not really what they had agreed upon what she thought she was getting herself into especially considering how Tom acted elsewhere with others which we'll discuss in a second I can definitely see that being an issue that they may have come across now another problem with Tom was the Judgment the Judgment that he had towards Maria's career that was completely out of line that was completely out of the question it was disrespectful as how rude as hell just very Antiquated very wrong of him the fact that he would actually judge her for being a makeup artist just because he's a PR executive whatever like do you love this woman or not are you a s are you serious are you literally serious if her career is that important to you that should have been the first question to come out of your mouth when you're in the pods if you knew that you weren't going to stand being with anyone who doesn't have a stem degree who doesn't have a law degree or do you know what I mean like someone who hasn't done business or whatever if you knew that that was a deal breaker for you then you should have asked that question from the jump why are you wasting people's time and then embarrassing her by mocking her and judging her in such a disgusting manner that was completely out of line so even though he might have those values of like oh let's split things 50/50 blah blah blah um it's clearly not from a place of actual feminism and this is this is the key to this issue for me that to me is the key problem is that you will often times see these men co-opt these you know feminist messages or these feminist principles like equality you know in finance or in um you know child rearing and stuff like that they'll co-opt these principles and warp them and twist them and turn them to benefit themselves and this is a prime example of that with Tom being like Oh yeah I want a strong independent woman who can chip in 50/50 it's not because he cares about feminism it's not because he actually was a strong independent woman it's because he's cheap like doesn't want to spend his own money because and the reason why we know it's not because of feminism is because he was willing to embarrass his fiance in front of everyone in front of the cameras in front of the world because of her profession and there's nothing feminist about that so do you see do you see the issue do you see the difference when men co-oped these principles of feminism to suit themselves making it seem like they're doing it for the cause like oh yeah I want to be married to a strong independent smart woman who has a professional career in finance or law or whatever but in reality it's just because he doesn't want to foot the bill and there are probably other elements of the traditional you know family setup that he's more than willing to partake in for instance having a banging wife right but when it comes to footing the bill for all of this which is what you need to do as a man if you do want that traditional family set up then Tom isn't interested and that isn't feminist that's just cheap that was my take when it came to Tom and now in the reunion he did kind of talk about how he was raised by a single mother and so you know that one explains why he's so open with his emotions and blah blah blah but also two um perhaps that's what has distorted his view of Womanhood um and a wife because he expects his wife to be strong and independent and the bell for everything and he has a very narrow-minded view of what strong and independent looks like I think that is also something that they could have touched on a bit more in the reunion not to psychoanalyze him or anything but I think that might be another reason for why he thinks this way um but because Maria grew up in a two parent household and her father took on those Traditional Values of you know being the pro the provider for the family and taking care of finances and everything and she can't relate to that she saw her mother taking on a different kind of strength and independ attendance as a wife and a mother and so she has a different view of what that looks like and those both of those views are valid both of those versions of Womanhood and motherhood and wifehood is that a word are valid but these two just couldn't see that like literally these both of them failed to see that and so in the case of Tom he saw Maria as weak and um sort of submissive perhaps or um Meek uh because she didn't want to foot the bill for their life but in reality she is a strong woman she is smart she is independent it's just that she's seen a different version of Womanhood that she's accustomed to and that she wants for herself in her marriage now another thing that stood out about Tom and Maria's relationship was the way that Tom treated Maria's family this was appalling this was abysmal J that man deserves jail for real because I I could not believe it like I was honestly shook what a toofaced bastard oh my goodness so here you have Maria's family who are traditional they're Moroccan they're African and so I was fully expecting them not to give this man the time of day as a fellow African as a h African with African family I was fully expecting them not to give this man the time of say the way that they welcomed him into their home the way that they were so kind to him so generous with him I was like oh okay because you know aside from the fact that he's a muzungu aside from the fact that he's a muzungu which you know African families would have their thoughts on already but also this is a TV show this is very unorthodox and they're very traditional so I imagined the world where Maria's family would just not even show up like maybe she would have an odd sister or two coming in to support support her but her mom would not even give this the time of day but the fact that they actually showed up to support their daughter they actually gave this man the time of day they welcomed him into his into their home and they even gave him their blessing like Maria's mom gave him her blessing to marry Maria that was such a huge gargantuan deal like honest that is a huge huge deal and what does this man do he lies to their faces and this is why I said I can believe what Maria was talking about in that interview where she said that Tom presented himself as a different kind of man in the pods because the way that he lied in front of our faces and Maria's mom's face before that wedding we were all thinking like oh maybe he was actually going to say yes like maybe he is going to want to marry Maria but no literally at that aisle he he said no he ran off and I was like are you literally joking why why all the theatrics then why do all of the theatrics of you know pretending to be on Maria's side and pretending to care about her mother and her feelings and her blessing and all like why bother with all of that oh my God that is so sadistic that is literally so sadistic and sociopathic I was creep the hell out by the way that Tom acted with with her family and I think Maria was completely right where in the reunion she talked about how Tom insulted her family like she was standing up for her family she was like absolutely not you can't be insulted my family like that insinuating that we're weak insinuating that we're not strong women just because we're not the kinds of women that you have in mind um and I think she was absolutely right to stand up for herself and her family okay so next up we have a happily ever Jasmine & Bobby after we're taking a break from all the drama for a second here because here we have Jasmine and Bobby now I have to admit this is yet another couple that I wasn't paying too much attention to okay like I wasn't paying too close attention to Jasmine and Bobby um the stand out for me was uh first of all Jasmine is a girls girl like you can just see each and every time something crazy is going on especially with Demi Jasmine is there Jasmine is there defending her friend she seemed like a really nice friend to have around and she was really just like honest and a standup person from what we saw so I really liked Jasmine even though I wasn't wholly invested in her relationship with Bobby I felt like they were cute together but I wasn't like sitting there with you know biting my nails in suspense or anything uh but Jasmine on her own as a person seems like a standup girl and so I really got to to like her on the show so that's number one number two when it comes to her actual relationship with Bobby I thought that they worked really well from what I saw which wasn't a lot cuz I was skipping but they seem to work really well she seems to be I hate to use like stereotypes but like she seems to be a little bit more you know outspoken and sort of you know feistier uh you know she she is an outspoken woman who's kind of sure of herself and and where she stands and she's not afraid to speak her mind basically and that's all to say that she doesn't have insecurities she said herself that she could be really jealous and insecure in relationships and it's something that she wanted to work on and I thought that was really open and honest of her to say both to Bobby and to everyone cuz it just shows that you know if you have that self-awareness and you're willing to work on yourself um that you can still have your happily ever after it's not the case where you're expected to just be completely perfect by the time that you actually get married like you're still a person and it's an ongoing process to improve yourself so I think Jasmine is a great example of that and I really appreciated you know the honesty that she showed towards Bobby about her shortcomings and it was the same for Bobby as well um he seems pretty cool he has his little music career going on um and they just seem to work really well together they also had the longdistance situation for their relationship with a Jasmine living in London and Bobby living in where was he he was in Stoke or something um which is pretty far for those of you who are outside of the UK Stoke is oh let me let me not act like I British geography that well Stoke is like the Northwest right it's near Manchester anyway it's like a good 2 hours on a train at least I think I'm I making that up who knows anyway um but he promptly moved in with Jasmine after they got married literally like a few days after so ha take notes Steven um although I will say you know people who are like oh Bobby moved in he's such a doll he's such a babe but like if you have a chance to move to London no to you stokan but if you have a chance to move to London like you're gonna let's just say I would have been more surprised if we had been the other way around where Jasmine had moved to stoke like that would have been more shocking to me and more of a confirmation of their undying love for one another now one highlight of Jasmine and Bobby's relationship that I was definitely paying attention to my ears pucked up my ears pucked up when I got to this part H it was Jasmine's mother oh yes we got to meet Mama Jasmine and and she is a very particular opinionated woman who kind of had her grasp on Jasmine like you could tell that they have a very close tight-knit relationship which is good that's great you know everyone wants to have a close relationship with their mom for the most part so that was all fine and dandy but it just seemed like she was very controlling of her daughter she wanted to know the ins and outs of her life and her relationships and everything that was going on with her and she needed to understand that now that Jasmine was pursuing this relationship with Bobby and was going to be getting married to him that that kind of you know intimacy of knowledge of every single thing that's going on just wouldn't be appropriate anymore there needed to be boundaries there needed to be boundaries from before like from a long time ago actually I can't say exactly when but these boundaries should have been put up already maybe just has struggled to do that over the years but with this defining moment in her life as she's getting married that that boundary needs to be up right now like it needs to be up okay so Mama Jasmine had to take several steps back she needed to take several seats because this thing of like oh you need to tell me everything like sis hold up and I think Jasmine was completely correct when she was like listen if I tell you every single little argument that we have about you know who cleared out the dishwasher or who left the seat up or blah blah blah you're going to end up hating him you're going to end up hating your son-in-law and that's just not going to be conducive to a good family Dynamic so there needs to be certain things that are just kept between us obviously if things are like serious or if it's like a life-changing event then of course it would make sense for her to reach out to her mom and still communicate with her mom in that way but this idea of like everything like everything being divulged to her mother is just unreasonable and inappropriate and I think it would be that mental to her relationship with Bobby so good on her for standing her ground and setting that boundary again it should have been set before before Bobby was even in the picture okay just for herself as an adult woman but because she does have this life change now I think it gave her the excuse that she needed to put up those walls cuz Mama you did a good job you raised her she's on her own now she's living her life now it's time for her to continue on especially because she wants to start her own family with Bobby like we need to move on from this to toxic environment but thankfully as we saw in the reunion Jasmine's mom seems to be a okay with Bobby now she said that she is 110% with him so I was very happy to hear that and in the reunion overall Jasmine and Bobby were just glowing like like everyone else struggling fighting in the mud and you have Jasmine and Bobby just glowing just smiling it to It Jasmine looked stunt again another stunning Queen Another Gorge Queen okay she looked absolutely amazing and whenever she intervened it was like music to my ears cuz she was one of the real ones she was one of the ones that was speaking truth okay so I love to hear what she had to say especially with the other couple's drama uh but yeah they looked absolutely amazing together and I have high hopes for them for the future so like Well Done congrats to Bobby and Jasmine they actually proved that love is blind okay so next up we have Demi and Ollie we're back in the Demi & Ollie gutter we're back in the gutter or uh this one was a bit of a shambles okay but Demi and olle seemed to really hear off in the pods um olle was another one that kind of fell for two different women it was between Demi and um cat originally um but he decided to go with Demi and when they met each other it seemed like they were really happy um but then the the first kind of crumbles and cracks that we saw in the wall for these guys was actually during their trip to Greece um especially when olle was exposed to the other women from the pods and he got to see Cat in real life and that's when he went all hun Hunker that's when he lost his godamn mind and started acting up now this was like a shock and horror situation for demi who was already feeling a little bit bit self-conscious a little bit insecure about her looks because even though she knows she's a bad girl even though she she knows she's a baddie but she also knew that she's not exactly society's ideal or you know conventionally attractive whatever whatever that nonsense means um so she was a little bit self-conscious about it and that's one of the things that she was thinking about especially when they got engaged was like how is he going to react to how I look because often times guys see me as one of the guys like they don't really see me as a perspective um love interest a romantic partner I wonder if there's a story there I wonder if there's a story where I'm imagining hear me out okay walk with me here I'm imagining a scenario where maybe she you know has a bunch of guy friends but maybe one of the guy friends she had feelings for but he never saw her that way like maybe that's what has created this insecurity in her this is literally just me imagining creating story lines in my head okay I don't want to put words in her mouth but you know I wonder what has caused this sort of thinking and insecurity in her but it does re its ugly head later as we see when Ollie meets um cat and even Charlotte but this insecurity that Demi has combined with the fact that Ollie is acting an absolute fool in Greece causes a rift in their relationship and all of a sudden Ollie is acting or Gruff and all abrasive I don't want to be here anymore I don't want to do this anymore and then she's asking him like what you want from me what you want me to do he's like oh man I want to go home like he was so annoying in Greece I was over OE I was like go home man go home L she wasting all of our times like I did not have the patience to deal with Ollie okay um especially in the episode he's like shut up Ollie so yeah he annoyed the hell out of me and it was mostly because you had Jasmine grilling him honestly she wasn't even grilling him she was just asking him questions she was like are you into Demi like are you into Demi do you love her do you find her attractive and beautiful like she is like what is the deal why do you need to think about it why is there so much hesitation like why why are you acting like this is such a chore for you to say and I completely agreed with Jasmine I completely agree with her because if he was so damn in love with her the way that was saying that it shouldn't be a chore it should be easy for him to just be like yeah I do love her and maybe we have some you know issues to work out here and there but I love her I'm committed to her I think she's a badass [ __ ] and like I want to be with her for the rest of my life like I should be seeing that passion I should be seeing that motivation and that encouragement and that's what Demi needed as well to feel encouraged and secure in their relationship so I completely agree with what Jasmine was saying and we saw that elsewhere hello bah we saw that elsewhere in other relationships so I don't think it was unreasonable to expect that from olle but no he was too busy having a strop he was too busy having a whole fit because Jasmine was asking him the questions that we wanted her now the question of whether olle was really physically attracted to Demi was the big question that surrounded this couple and we got some insights okay during the reunion where OE tried his best to kind of dance around the subject but also so answer the pressing questions okay the pressing issues that he's likely seen on social media um and I have thoughts I have thoughts on this on the one hand my automatic reaction was to assume that olle wasn't as attracted uh to Demi as Demi was to him like that's what I assumed because I just did not see that like passion I didn't see that like oo like you know I mean like he didn't fall to his knees the way that he needed to in my eyes and so I I kind of believed that theory that she was more into him than he was into her especially after he was running around with cat especially like the way that he was with cat the body language that he showed with cat to me showed instant attraction however people have bounced back on this and said maybe you guys are just projecting your own thoughts um about you know who should be considered conventionally attractive onto Demi and I think this is a valid argument as well because I do think we need to challenge ourselves uh when it comes to these types of story lines that we see in reality TV shows where one of the uh contestants um is insecure about the way that they look and we automatically assume that whoever she or he is partnered with isn't attracted to them because we're basically saying that we agree then that we agree that they're not conventionally attractive and therefore it's impossible that their partner would find them attractive and that's not a mindset that I have and I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way so I think it is important for us to check ourselves and be like okay are we projecting or do we really see the signs when it comes to O and Demi for me personally I did take a moment to think about it and just reflecting on how he acted towards Catherine in particular and towards Charlotte and what he said about Charlotte during the reunion I can confirm okay my personal opinion which is that he wasn't as attracted to Demi as perhaps she was to him but another thing that Ollie made sure to clarify during the reunion is that he does not only date white women in fact according to him he's never dated any white women he didn't say the words he didn't say white woman or black woman or whatever but we all knew we all knew what he meant um I think this comes from again social media saying like oh of course he wasn't attracted to a black or mixed race woman because his type is probably the snow bun the snow bunny I'm quoting Twitter I'm quoting Twitter okay please forgive me um for using such language and again I do think it's worth checking ourselves when we say these kinds of things we're like oh obviously this black man isn't attracted to this woman of color because he only likes white women like what what does that mean what does that mean are we just projecting these white supremacist ideas of attractiveness and beauty um on to these folks like we need to check ourselves we need to be careful when we make these assumptions now when it comes to the wedding day oh my goodness Demi and ol's wedding day gave me the biggest laugh it gave me the biggest laugh of the whole season because of course you had OE acting shocked and surp what when Demi ended up saying no she ended up choosing herself in a very deep team move and here you have Ollie being like oh my and like I completely agree with many who say that it seemed like rehearsed or it seemed pre-planned I do think they came to the arrangement that um Demi would say no at the altar I don't think either of them were surprised by this outcome I think perhaps they even requested that Demi go first so that olle would look like less of a villain and less like a bad guy considering the storyline that had played out prior because if he had gone first and rejected her it just would have felt very mean and so perhaps you know I can see a world where they told the producers listen Demi will go first um and she'll reject him and that way it will soften the blow and Demi had the opportunity to come out as this confident self- assured woman who has chosen herself again in a very deep te way but yeah it definitely felt planned as does Demi's whole character Arc of being a strong independent self assured woman I feel like she is trying to make that her thing and I support her in this I think that's great you know if she wants to be that kind of influencer for instance who you know promotes self-confidence and value and also talking about endometriosis which I think was a really brilliant and courageous thing for her to do on an international platform it's something that isn't talked about enough whatsoever Women's Health in General is wly underfunded and misunderstood um but it was really Brave and amazing of Demi to shine a light on this issue and so I think if that's a direction that she wants to go down you know coming out of this series getting that 15 minutes of fame and then good on her good on her for baking it into the actual storyline of the show okay so next up we have Nicole and Vania now this is yet another Nicole & Beniah (& Sam, boo!) couple that started off as a bit of a freesome but this one was kind of crazy this one was kind of wild because it was actually Nicole who was stuck between two guys and one of the guys was Sam now listen to call now listen to call my sister take a seat please um what were you thinking what were you just whisper in my ear what were you thinking going with Sam that was wild that was that was a bit unhinged sis like I have I have questions for you but yeah Nicole was stuck in between the two and even after bayah tried to warn her and say listen I don't think that Sam has pure intentions I think he's just here for his 15 seconds of Fame Nicole was like yeah yeah I hear you but I hear you but I kind of want to go with sound still and like honestly I was gued honestly and then you have the proposal The Proposal when Nicole was like I love you and then Sam was like yeah I I I think I think I love you too and at that point I was gagged I was like oh my goodness and he couldn't even fake it it's the thing even though he was fake as hell like from beginning to end he couldn't fake it in that moment which I guess kind of speaks to perhaps there being a heart deep deep down underneath there he literally could not bring himself to lie about it even for his 15 seconds of Fame so ultimately it didn't work out between Nicole and Sam they didn't even end up going to Greece together and before the Greece trip Nicole actually suckled back she kned back over to bayah and they talked about you know what went wrong and bah felt bad as well for like pulling away because of the whole Sam situation even though it was kind of understandable to be fair um and they ended up making up and I was like oh that's so cute and then they're probably going to like hang out in the real world and maybe start a relationship no Baya immediately proposed immediately proposes and I'm like oh oh so we're doing this oh okay and I think at that point that's why I was less invested in them as a couple cuz I felt like they were a bit fake like they came across as a bit fake to me especially bayah like I just didn't I didn't buy them and I think it was the fact that he proposed to her straight after she apologized and all of that like I don't know if we're missing some pieces in between but that just seemed so convenient and it felt like he wanted to kind of rinse out his time on the show and that's why he proposed to her so for me I was a little bit reluctant to believe in this couple if I'm being honest but you know once we saw them together in the reunion and when we got that extra footage of their reaction to each other after they spoke for the first time ah I'm in guys I believe I am now a Believer I think they're adorable together I think they're a bit weird a bit wacky a bit eccentric but I think as many have said they match each other's freak they match each other's freak so I think it works so yeah initially I had my doubts when it came to Nicole and bayah their cooky personalities didn't immediately endear me to them and plus the whole story line with Sam made it feel like it was a bit of a soap opera like it just made it feel disingenuous but by the end I could tell that they actually had a really great connection to each other and also seeing the clips and footage from their real life post wedding day was really really nice like they seem to just get on really really well and also if I may say so I love the fact that bayah is so protective of his woman oh let's talk about it because they decided to give Sam of all people his 5 seconds in the spotlight during the reunion and like Boo literally boo but the whole time Ben was just sitting there grinding his tee he was like grinding his teeth he was not having any of it just listening to Sam's lies pissed him the hell off and that was honestly quite attractive like honestly that was I'm not listen I'm not jumping on Nicole's man but I'm just saying like that was a good look for Ben um I love the fact that he was so protective of her even though she's a bit away with the fairies for not noticing that Sam was a fake a phony um and also the fact that Sam lied okay spreading those ugly rumors about her saying that she was trying to sleep with him and he rejected her but that never even happened that is disgusting disgraceful behavior on his part he belongs in the trash but I like the fact that Ben always had Nicole's back and was you know standing by his wife during that whole ordeal okay so the final couple of Love is Blind UK that we'll be Catherine & Freddie discussing is of course Catherine and Freddy ah where do I begin we hit the Rocks we hit the Rocks as soon as we got to Greece where we start to see some trouble a foot the first thing was I believe the fact that Freddy had cheated in his previous relationship that was something that he divulged to Katherine unprovoked literally unprovoked which good for him he's an open and honest man now he wanted to show that he had changed and he wanted to be honest with her and so he told her that he had previously cheated now this affected Catherine because she had been cheated on in every single one of her previous relationships apparently and so yeah I can imagine that that's like really like upsetting and traumatizing and she likely didn't want to hear this coming from her new fiance like that's terrify that's terrifying to hear now this cheating situation that Freddy did was about 7 years ago apparently so like some time has passed and he's clearly grown as a person but I do still think that it was you know for Catherine to react in the way that she needed to and wanted to you know he gave her this information and told her about you know this previous relationship that he had and how he messed it up and so she was entitled to kind of sit with that information and react the way that she needed to like I feel like that was completely Fair and valid um I don't think that just because Freddy told the truth that means that everything has to be fine and dandy like oh Freddy thank you so much for telling me the truth about how you previously cheated on your girlfriend oh thank you thank you so so much for doing that oh I love you so like no like no you tell the truth not because you're expecting to be praised for it but because you want to do the right thing and be transparent but then it's up to the person to react the way that they're going to react but that wasn't even the biggest of their ISS sh that wasn't even the biggest of their problems there was also a little blip when it came to olle because obviously Catherine was on the other side of that interaction where um he was talking to her and you know they were trying to clear the air after the situation with the pods and it seemed like they had a bit of you know chemistry there and then Catherine did make that unfortunate remark where she was talking about how she didn't think Demi and olle would work together implying that it was because of how Demi looked and it just came across as very prissy and very ugly from Catherine ironically so it was just a really ugly awful statement for her to make and I'm so glad my sister I'm so glad my sister Jasmine pointed this out because Catherine tried to to to dodge the the question and tried to make herself out as the victim somehow crying her white woman tears being like Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to say that like my words I just don't know how to speak but then Jasmine called her out she was like whoa whoa whoa hang on because the comment that you made implied that Ollie and Demi wouldn't work out because of the way that Demi looked and you especially said okay oh my mouth is going to get me in trouble like you knew what you said was wrong so why you acting like oh you just didn't know how to speak like that's ridiculous so yeah massive Round of Applause for Jasmine for pointing that out she was completely correct again um and Katherine was absolutely foul for saying that honestly she revealed a lot of herself just in that comment but she went on and did much worse in her relationship with Freddy where she showed herself to be really snippy and mean towards him um and also she revealed that there are elements of her lifestyle that may not suit that of Freddy's she seemed to go out a lot more and seems to be hanging out in these like expensive like luxurious like hip you know clubs and places can you tell that I'm not running in the same circles as Catherine and Freddy was a little bit put off by this because it's very different to his lifestyle now on the topic of the whole lifestyle difference I feel like this could be a positive in a relationship in my professional opinion I have no professional opinion okay but I feel like this was presented as such a Negative it could be a positive even if you're getting married to someone who is more of a homebody who is more introverted in life we're constantly evolving we're constantly changing and growing and adopting new things and I feel like there was a potential here for some of Freddy's characteristics to grow on Catherine and vice versa like what if they ended up you know going out together on occasion or maybe staying in and some of the nerdy things that Freddy's into Catherine would kind of pick up on I feel like there could have been a middle ground here that would have worked for both of them and would have changed them in positive ways but no we immediately saw it as a negative and I think that's a bit of a shame obviously there was more to it than just that but just in general when it comes to this sort of Lifestyle different storyline that we often see in reality TV shows I like to look at the positive as well and say like oh this person can introduce a new aspect to my life uh that will enrich it I don't think it always has to be a negative but here it was here it was a negative mostly for financial reasons because Freddy started to see Katherine's lifestyle as very expensive and even though he actually he actually wanted to provide for his wife actually actually an actual fact um he you know was happy being the provider it seemed like but you know within reason because it seemed like Catherine was living a pretty you know luxury lifestyle that he just couldn't see himself keeping up with and with her financial situation being Rocky um him you know potentially being the Soul Provider that was just something that he was really uncomfortable with um and so Freddy has done really well for himself he's a funeral director and he has his own home and like he's built a really great foundation for his life and he seems ready to take that next step to his credit unlike some of his Brethren like Tom H and Steven hm but that does mean that he is very aware of his limits and he seems more cautious especially when it comes to finances and that's something that he could foresee being an issue with Catherine which I think speaks to his intelligence I think it speaks to his intelligence his insightfulness like he really is out here assessing people he seems very emotionally intelligent as well um and I think that makes sense because he is a funeral director constantly dealing with people who are going through like some of the worst times in their lives so overall I was actually a huge fan of Freddy I was a huge huge fan of Freddy he came across as really sweet um and genuine yes he was a little bit chatty and annoying when they were going on their shopping trip but I feel like that as he said that's kind of typical for a guy for a man or a straight man um in a relationship like I have seen endless straight men just like him in Westfield in Oxford Street so I thought it was unreasonable for Catherine to just be so annoyed by him if she wanted to go on a shopping trip with a whole Squad she should have brought her friends with her like why is she bringing Freddy but this is where we started to see the rift in their relationship with the finance issue and but also with the personality issue because Catherine seemed to just shut him down anytime he wanted to be jokey or more lighthearted with her and the clashes just got worse and worse now on the finance topic as well before I forget and you did have that other angle where Freddy wanted to pass down his house to his sister rather than to his wife and honestly just looking at this show and social media and everything I the state of relationships in the 21st century is just cataclysm it's like we are actually in the G all of us by the way like regardless of gender that we are literally in the gutter I think we are at a turning point where so many movements have taken place like sexual Liberation feminist movement and Civil Rights Movement so there is this kind of Turning Point where we're trying to figure out how to reconcile these traditional institutions of marriage and relationships with these more modernist views and that's why we're seeing clashes like Tom and Maria and like Freddy and Katherine and all of that like I like we are in the gutter right now we need to figure a lot of things out but when it comes to Freddy he was so anxious about this Finance issue that he decided to propose a prenup uh for their marriage um that would entitle his sister to his house instead of his wife now first of all I just like to point out as a legal graduate like your girl went to law school like your girl actually went to law school okay and worked in law firms so I know a little bit about this um pren Nots do not have the same meaning here in the UK that they do elsewhere like particularly in America they're not as legally binding at all um in the UK and so in the future if Freddy and Katherine did get married and have kids and all of that the judge would take into account the kind of holistic view of their life um like for instance you know if Catherine could provide for herself and her kids um you know what would become of the children stuff like that that would have more ENT over the prenup like the prenup would not be a particularly important or indicative document in that sense it could have a little sway in terms of how to split the finances or the assets that they may have but it wouldn't be the be all and end all document that would shut Catherine out of any finances or assets that she would be entitled to otherwise that's not how it works here in the UK and family law and so Katherine could breathe a side of relief at least on that front but I do empathize with with her for feeling betrayed uh by Freddy wanting a prap um especially because she likely didn't know this background on family law and um it seemed like he wanted to shut her out of all the finances like I I understand that but I also kind of understand Freddy's perspective he's worked hard for his house and everything and he wants to keep it with his family with his sister who he trust and so as a sister as a fellow older sister you know I feel a kinship to Freddy sister um and yeah I understand where he's coming from but ultimately I think the fact that he wanted that prenup already told him everything that he needed to know about his relationship with Catherine and that is that he wasn't um ready or willing to really marry her to begin with I think there were unreconcilable differences between them and so it made perfect sense for Freddy to say no ultimately now caprine said yes of course she did Freddy's a catch but there were just too many issues between them and the way that Katherine was treating Freddy was just too out of line she was far too abrasive and just angry towards him that it didn't work out and the fact that Freddy has such a close relationship with his family and in particular his older sister and she immediately recognized the difference in her brother yeah that told us and him everything that he needed to know about his relationship with Catherine it clearly wasn't going to work out so that's it for all of the couples guys Overall Thoughts! this was the first ever Season of Love is Blind UK and I had a blast I really enjoyed the season of the show I kind of fell off with the Love is Blind franchise after season 4 I think it was and I stopped keeping up as much but this little Breakaway franchise in the UK has me interested I'm very excited for season 2 I presume we're going to get a season 2 in the UK um listen I might even join like who knows I'm just next door I'm just next door now you might see me pop up on the show who knows I had a blast with this one I think it was very well produced and in terms of the reunion I think it was really well done I think Matt and Emma Willis did a great job hosting the reunion asking all of the right questions they were like relating to the couples here and there with anecdotes about themselves but they didn't make it all about themselves like they weren't constantly talking about themselves they were always kind of asking the questions that we wanted to hear about each of the couples and so I think Emma in particular did a splendid job hosting the reunion episode I mean she's hosted a bunch of shows before like big brother and stuff so she's a pro I shouldn't be surprised uh but I think they definitely gave Nick and Vanessa a run for their money like this is how you do it okay the only critique that I had is that I do think they cut off some of the couples too quickly especially when we got to the juicy Parts like that Sabrina and Steven section we could have gone on for a good 5 minutes extra to be honest and it's a streaming show it's not like they're worried about you know cutting to ads afterwards so like we could have we could have stretched this out a little bit more but I understand that they don't want to dig in too deep and make it feel like an interrogation because then people will stop coming to the reunions like we have to remember that these people are real life human beings and if they feel like they're being threatened the whole time then the reunion setup will just collapse because no one will show up anymore so I think overall they managed to have a decent balance but I do think the cutting off certain couples especially when we
