going to be talking about the move the sticks podcast uh Bucky Brooks and and Daniel Jeremiah were breaking down the NFC North secondaries who they expected to be first second third fourth things of this nature uh we're going to talk about player evaluations and I'll get into that when I get to that and also enemy expectations which is another one that I will get to when I get to it I'm not going to give away too much about it because I don't want to do that let's go ahead before we get started and we're going to give a shout out to our sponsors um sponsored by Sports spider now if you haven't trying to get to 50 likes for the Pod every single day while we are on stream obviously we're getting more likes but while we're on the stream so like it share it subscribe It smash it send it out all right so let's go ahead and get into what we are going to get into today as I said Alex anzalone the Forgotten man why do I say that he's the Forgotten Men Yesterday When I was kind of getting ready for the Pod and and trying to figure out some things I was going to talk about I came across a uh survey now this survey was from a a source that has a lot of subscribers and generally I don't take surveys really into into account why because most of the time when you see a person say oh nine out of 10 people love Oscar Meyer well they only talk to 10 people okay they may not have talked to enough people so generally I don't take that but there were a lot of um votes um it was a 24-hour time limit or not time limit but it was up for 24 hours when I came across the pole and it was asking who was the favorite player um and Alex anzalone there were four players um Alex anzalone got 3% of the vote now 3% of the vote is very low so this is why I said is he the Forgotten man because then I started thinking about and remembering all of the the backlash and the and the hoopla that was going on when Alex anzalone was resigned this off season uh a lot of people didn't want him to be resigned a lot of people wanted him to be moved on for us on from so that we could see what Jack Campbell could do and things of this nature so you know Jack Campbell had his ups and downs he had a decent rookie season but it wasn't the type of season uh I would say that you're just like immediately let's push Alex anzalone out and let's put um Jack Campbell in there but they're going to be on the field at the same time a lot this year so that's also not really uh something that we needed to do to move on from anzelone uh to get Jack Campbell a chance so what I'm going to look at I just want to look at a couple of things from Alex anzalone regarding his stats because every year that Alex anzalone has been in Detroit his stats have gotten better all right so it's not something that he's been doing getting worse no he's been playing better every year but there are still people that just want to move on and I understand wanting to upgrade um and you want this flashy free agent you want this big name but we already know how Brad Campbell and Dan Holmes Brad Campbell and Dan Holmes let's just call them Brad Campbell like I usually do we already know how Brad Campbell gets down if you are not a Detroit Lions all grit type of guy you are not coming here Brad Holmes has said himself everybody can't play here and that's fine all right so we're just going to go ahead and look at some of these stats now Alex anzalone coming to Detroit in the 21 season he played 14 games he had 49 solo tackles 29 assists for com a combined number of 78 tackles he had one sack all right and that sack was for three yards he also had one interception okay no Force fumbles now in his second season in 2022 okay you remember this the the the famed one and six start right where we had to simplify the defense because people were not doing their jobs and everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off because there were people not doing their jobs and then there were people trying to make up for those people not doing their jobs there was no trust there was no cohesion so they had to go ahead and keep it simple stupid and after they broke some things down there you know 8-2 in the last 10 games all right so in that season he played all 17 games had 6 77 total uh not total 77 solo tackles all right he had 48 assists with a combine a combined 125 tackles one and a half sacks for 14 and a half sack yards also one interception where he got four yards on that return all right now in 2023 he missed one game he played 16 games he had 85 solo tackles okay look how his tackle numbers are getting higher every year right and 44 assisted tackles total of 129 tackles three sacks 32 yards uh taken away on in sacks uh no interceptions and no Force fumbles he did have a force fumble the year before that so he had one interception and a force fumble the year before that um he did have a fumble recovery also the year before that and he had a fumble recovery this past season so those stats are pretty good right 49 solo 77 solo 85 solo right so we can see the jump every single year 70 uh 78 combined 125 combined 12 129 combined we can see that there's a jump we can see that there's Improvement every single year we know his coverage has gotten better every single year we know all of these things not only is he a a person who's improving but he's also a leader he understands this defense he is the leader in the linebacker room will that be the case forever probably not right Jack Campbell is being molded into that guy who is going to take over uh Aaron Glenn himself said that Jack Campbell has that Green Dot energy so all of these things taken to an account and taken into account we have to wonder why the fans are not excited about Alex anselone all right well I found an article written uh by mli that was written after that famed Chicago Bears game you know the one that we were supposed to lose and then Justin Fields started doing all this and that was it game was over all right for the Bears not for us it's over uh the the switch flipped all right so here it says snap counts PFF grades Alex anzalone is playing like a star linebacker for the Lions Alex anzalone has been on an absolute Terror in the middle for the Detroit Lions and anzalone was added again in the team's thrilling 31-26 win over the Chicago Bears in week 11 back at fordfield the starting linebacker notched a career-high 15 tackles playing a vital role in chasing down Justin fields and Chicago's offense the team captain and onfield leader also came out of a p of players with a fumble recovery that led to a touchdown before the end of the first half Pro Football Focus recognized anzalone's efforts by handing him his first 90 plus overall grade of the Season 90 plus now we're going to get into a little bit of PFF stuff later on um not slander so you can relax it's not slander all right cuz we're you know PFF is usually known for slandering the Detroit Lions unless are not you know they're like this they don't really know what they want to do but this really doesn't have anything to do with what they said about the Detroit Lions it has something to do with something else um and we're going to get into that a little bit later but they gave him his first 90 plus overall grade of the Season he missed only one tackle on a very busy day at the second level F allowing three catches on five targets for only 17 yards he was Far and Away the best reviewed player of of the day for Detroit's defense with Aiden Hutchinson next in line with his six pressures created anzalone's performance was another example of the continued growth from the veteran linebacker PFF graded him as one of the worst linebackers in the league in 2021 huh so what did I say 2021 he had 40 49 solo tackles right he then showed growth in year two and has taken that to another level amid this 8 and2 start right so he was growing in the 8-2 finish and he's growing more in the 8 and two start okay so obviously you know the season's over but this was written then since week four anzalone ranked second overall among 86 linebackers per PFF among 86 linebackers he was second overall so from week four to week 10 he was second overall amongst 86 qualifying linebackers uh and he's been better than ever in coverage slotting fourth among those at his position with enough snaps to qualify during that span fourth fourth Alex anzalone was fourth ranked in coverage amongst all qualifying linebackers at his position fourth sounds pretty good right fourth that's not a bad number um and outside of a blip on the radar against the Raiders or the Raiders not the Ravens the Raiders a couple of weeks ago it was another positive review along his hot along this hot stretch for the line backer he became the first Lions backer since 1999 to post 15 tackles and a fumble recovery and the first NFL player to do so since 2020 so three years ago someone else did it but it hadn't been done in three years and Alex anzelone was the one to do it so the first one since 1999 the Detroit linebacker to have 15 tackles and a fumble recovery in the same game and he was the first one to do it first NFL player at all to do it since 2023 uh 2020 aalon is creating pressure defending tight ends and corralling rushers all while leading the young defense as the quarterback and every down rock in the middle so now I just want to understand what was the backlash why were people unhappy when we resigned Alex anzelone why do people want the flash in the pan the guys that are just their guys their names just like people wanted Chase young people wanted Chase young so badly why do we want Chase young what has Chase young done since he's been in in the NFL he hasn't been able to say healthy there's been questions about his motor he was the second overall pick he's a name right he went to he went to uh who did he go to the Saints he went to the Saints and he signed what was it um a one-year $12 million deal something of that nature right I mean like no one is breaking the bank for Chase Young no one is rolling out the red carpet for Chase Young no one is opening the bag for Chase young and no one is handing over the bag for Chase young maybe I should have said no one is opening up their for Chase young and no one is opening up is handing over the bag for Chase young but he's a name and everybody wanted him I get that cool no problem all right let's get to the chat and see what they have to say about Alex anzalone um and obviously let me go ahead and welcome everyone in from the chat that I didn't do uh already we got trace of course Mike P of course Rick of course um you know the regulars mile marker of course um we've got Frank the Tank we've got the guy said so I haven't seen that one that's a new one shout out to the guy said so we got Detroit D what is going on nice to see you here we've got rocked on Detroit Lions shout out will um so yes uh will says he never got notified do us a favor and let us know if you got notified 30 minutes prior to the stream uh when you come into a show please it would really help us to show YouTube right so we've been having some issues with notifications they're not popping off the way that they should so sometimes you get notified sometimes you don't um Mike P says that he didn't get notified until it started um right so we're talking about the notifications yes all right so lots of notification talk um the guy said so says another new Lions Channel we can't keep up hey man the lions are the Hot Topic man the hot tck the hot ticket but it's not a new channel fairly but not new all right um M Marcus says Chef I think asalone is solid uh D for a few years yet I would agree with you m marker um Frank the Tank says Alex is one of the best on this team he's been getting better and better every year 100% uh Trey says he deserves more credit from the NFL media but they don't give it to him they suck try says wow PFF I'm shocked right um so those are the things that we were talking about with Alex anzelone look there are are certain certain pockets of the fan base that don't really like him um he's not the flashy name he came from New Orleans and what wasn't the greatest that as we said PFF ranked him as the what the the worst rated linebacker in 2021 now comes 2023 just you know two years later he's in the tops so that just shows the dedication the Improvement the grit that Alex anzalone possesses and uh he is for whatever reason a forgotten man but hopefully he'll have another Banner type of season uh next year and all of this talk can go away all right let's go ahead and get into the next topic uh we have the move the sticks podcast n FC North move the sticks podcast Bucky Brooks and Daniel Jeremiah were talking about the NFC North secondaries who would be first second third fourth um I believe Bucky Brooks had obviously the Bears um you know and we know the Bears Bears have an excellent secondary that's no no Bears fans here is Broski bear here no I don't see him welcome in Jer fan nice to see you um so I don't see Broski bear so there's no Bears fans here and and I'm not going to Sugar Code the fact that the the Chicago Bears do have the best secondary in the NFC North all right so then there was a tossup Between the Lions at two the uh Packers at three or the lions at three and the Packers at two so Bucky Brooks said the lions were at three uh Daniel Jeremiah said the lions were at two and obviously each one of them picked the Minnesota Vikings to be the last one in the division now here's the thing that I agreed with and here's the thing that I didn't agree with what I agree with from this uh from this topic was unfortunately the Green Bay Packers are number two by a very small margin and the uh Detroit Lions are number three now here's how I got to that and I got to this specifically off of grades and how did I get to that specifically off of grades because our our line our secondary last season was awful okay I don't even know what it was ranked last season now PFF has stepped up and ranked our secondary 11th this season right they're coming in as the 11th ranked uh secondary before knowing anything before knowing how they gel before knowing what the rookies do before knowing how they play together the schemes that they're going to run nothing they're number 20 they're number 11 so how I got to that is I took the pfff grades because the thing that I don't agree with I don't agree with using rookies to talk about the expectations of an NFL football team and the reason I don't agree with that and I'm talking about in the offseason after after week one even after the preseason if you see these rookies play and they're balling out okay again grain of salt because in the preseason they're not going to be playing against the starters especially now since the preseason is only three games and there are uh there are 17 games in the season so that one extra game uh taken off of the preseason and put into the regular season has kind of changed the approach uh of how these NFL teams want to put their rosters out there on the field in the preseason it used to be um the third game of the preseason was the dress rehearsal for this season um and nobody really played in the fourth game so you would have the first two games they would play sparingly um maybe a couple of series we're talking about the starters and then the third game you would have at least the first half where the starters would get in some good work um and it would be kind of like a simulated uh regular season game obviously uh you know people are trying to avoid injury but that's pretty much that's why they called it the dress rehearsal because people were getting ready now that might be the second game um it's not really official it's not agreed upon it would have to be agreed upon between the teams but it was like kind of slotted before now it's just like you might get a game where you see the Giants and the Jaguars playing their starters or something like that but then you'll get a game where you see the Lions and the the Chiefs not playing their game right and I I mentioned that because the lions are playing the Chiefs in the second week of the preseason so you might see G versus momes you might not see gol you might not see Mahomes it just depends on what they're doing in Camp um and and now they're using more so the um the joint practices as kind of that you know simulating football uh simulations or simulating football situations is what I should say game time situations so now that we're looking at the secondary I don't want to put any rookies in there terion Arnold hasn't played football in the NFL inis rraw hasn't played football in the NFL um Javon Bullard hasn't played football in the NFL for the Packers who else do the Packers have CU they have a bunch of rookies I believe um yeah they they have a few rookies in the in the secondary room um and they have I think a couple in the in not the second in the safety room they have a few rookies and in the cornerback room I think they also have a couple rookies so I'm not going to put any of those guys into the evaluation all right so we're just going to go with their roster from what they have now from people who have played football in the NFL before all right so of course we're going to start with Jer Alexander um his overall defensive grade is in 759 his overall defense great is 75.9 obviously that has everything to do with uh stopping the Run playing Zone coverage playing man coverage it's all going into 75.9 I'm not going to get into all of the metrics of what that is um so that's a good score uh Xavier mckin now he's the highest rated back defensive back of either one of these teams right he's the high he's higher than than uh J Alexander and he's higher than anybody that we have on the Detroit Lines so he's an 87.5 overall defense grade excellent right that is an excellent grade 87.5 all right then we have a very large drop off the other safety who is projected to be their starter uh is Anthony Johnson Jr who I don't know never heard of him uh Anthony Johnson junr his defense grade is a 47.9 if if Anthony Johnson Jr is on the field when we are playing the Packers Jared G if you're listening which you're probably not but one day you will be let's hope all right uh Jerry G if you're listening throw the ball early and often at Anthony Johnson Jr throw it at him I want you guys to run it at him I want you guys to make him the focal point of your offensive attack how are we going to attack the Packers defense we're gonna go towards Anthony Johnson Jr and require him to get some help put J Mo over there Pam La Porter over there Ron and R st Brown over there just do it okay cuz 47.9 is atrocious it is not good at all all right uh and then we've got Eric Stokes now Eric Stokes is a name again Eric Stokes went to univers University of Georgia um he was drafted in the first round he's got the speed I think he ran like a 4340 or something like that he's a name hasn't done anything in the NFL hasn't done anything right um been injured been ineffective 51.5 that is his overall defense grade 51.5 okay so I crunched the numbers and I just took an average I took an average of the four starters that are projected right now again not using any rookies because even if you tried to use a rookie guess what they wouldn't have they wouldn't have a defensive grade they wouldn't have a coverage grade they wouldn't have a grade against the Run they wouldn't have man coverage they wouldn't have Zone coverage because they've done nothing they haven't played in the NFL got high expectations for terion Arnold terion Arnold is not an NFL football player until he is in his rraw is not an NFL football player until he is I don't I don't mind projections projections are cool right it's fun to dream it's fun to think about what this rookie is going to do in his NFL career it's fun to believe that terion Arnold is going to be a Hall of Famer and an allpro every single year it's fun to believe that will that be the case I hope so I hope so but when you're evaluating a secondary you have to go with the people that they had last year and the people that they have added this year that are actual NFL players right free agency trades people that have actually played the game of NFL football so when crunching the numbers uh I got a 65.7 so basically what I did and I'll be transparent with what I did I took their grades right uh Jer Alexander Xavier McKenna Anthony Johnson Jr Eric Stokes added them up divided them by four I took the average of What the projected starters who have played NFL football will or their average I took what their average is okay so their average defensive grades as a secondary together is 65.7 all right so let's go ahead and do the same thing for the Detroit Lions now what I had to do with the Lions because PFF actually had slotted in um terion Arnold as it starter on the opposite side of Carlon Davis but I had to just go with the nickel package so that we could put Meek Robertson on the field and get an actual grade from a player who has actually played NFL football all right again not diminishing not diminishing terion Arnold I hope he is the greatest cornerback in NFL in in Detroit Lions history NFL history hell I don't care I hope he is I hope we've got that that type of dog on this team but until we see it we don't know if it's going to translate we hope 100% 100% hope and pray that it's going to transfer we hope that those five interceptions that he got last year at Alabama will double to 10 this year hell triple to 15 you know go crazy we want it to happen we just don't know and I don't like to evaluate teams based on their rookies I just can't do it I just don't as a rule I don't do it that's my rule some people do I don't I you won't see me doing it now will you see me talking about a rookie and singing his praises yes but I'm always going to throw that cold water on it and say this is not something that we know this is something that we are projecting this is something that we are hoping for but the facts are Ami Robertson played football in the NFL last year Colton Davis played football in the NFL last year Brian Branch played football in the NFL last year and Kirby Joseph played football in the NFL last year terion Arnold was playing out Alabama last year all right so again as I said though they put terion Arnold out there as the starter he doesn't have any grades because he was a rookie last year all right all he's a rookie this year sorry he wasn't playing last year all right so we start off with AMI Robertson 63.4 okay which is decent it's not great then we go to Kirby Joseph and he got a 56.5 ain't great but that's that's the lowest number that we got we didn't get a 47.9 we don't have any of those in there Brian Branch his overall grade is higher than Jer Alexander okay 78.9 Brian Branch all right now Carlton Davis is a 63.1 okay now what I can speak on with Carlon Davis because I've seen his grades before um this is all Tampa Bay went kind of Zone heavy last season for whatever reason they used to be Man heavy and that's where Carlton Davis excels and that's like one of the reasons that Carlton Davis came to Detroit or not came to Detroit he was traded right uh but that's one of the reasons that he's excited about being in Detroit is because he knows he's going to be able to get back to man coverage that's why he said he came in to lock stuff down he's going to make one side of the field unavailable because he's very conf ident in his man coverage ability uh so is AG so is Brad Holmes so is Dan Campbell so that's why they brought him here um so his man coverage ability is not it it is included in this grade but it is not the only thing they put in the zone coverage and things of that nature so that's a 63.1 now when crunching the numbers when crunching the numbers okay again I'll I'll go back 63.1 for Colton Davis theii Brian Branch 78.9 Kirby Joseph 56.5 Ami Robertson 63.4 when crunching those numbers taking that average we had 65.5 so the according to this the Green Bay Packers just looking at who the projected starters are are 65.7 and the Detroit line are 65.5 uh and neither one of the secondaries was was excellent last season neither one of them was something that you would call good last season right so Green Bay has a02 Edge over the Detroit Lions and I am fine with the way that that shakes out and ex the thing that puts the thing that puts or I should say the player the player that puts Green Bay over is Xavier McKenna okay the player that puts Green Bay over is Xavier McKenna and there are people that believe that Brian Branch will be eventually better than Xavier McKenna but Xavier McKenna was the best safety to come out of his class um now here's another thing that you didn't notice PFF believes that Brian Branch will be moved back to that safety spot that second safety spot um so he'll be playing strong safy strong safety opposite of uh Kirby Joseph instead of if he being back there and obviously we've got the issue right now where we have too many good players and we have to figure out how to get them on the field effectively and how to get them on the field at the same time all right so let's go ahead and get to what the chat is thinking about this situation um yes uh Xavier mcken did play for the Giants last year uh say yes the Lions will practice against the New York Giants that is correct all right um what is a Meek's strong side my memory is terrible it's got to be uh it's got to be man coverage all of these guys now I think he did struggle a little bit in man coverage obvously he's a smaller Corner uh but I have seen him lock some people down we saw him you know lock down Rashid rice and tell him he was too small and all these other things so yeah um I I think everybody's gonna gonna ball out this season we have rotational depth we have all of that stuff going on um so yes yes chat yes all right um so that was the thing this the the NFC north um secondaries they're very close the Packers and the lions are very close so we want to just make sure that we just point out these things and just hey we got to let the rookies play see what the rookies are like and then we can make a we can we can form an opinion on how the rookies make this uh secondary or these secondaries better because as I said the Packers also have some rookies um that they're going to be counting on this year uh you definitely want Javon Bullard in there over Anthony Johnson Jr because like I said if you if you're playing against the the Packers and Anthony Johnson Jr is out there with his horrible 47.9 grade for defense you want to attack that man I'm attacking him okay anytime he comes in the game if Javon Bullard goes out and if he's if Javon Bullard is having an excellent rookie season which I hope he doesn't right cuz he plays for the Packers but if he's having an excellent rookie season and he has to go out for a play to get a breather and Anthony Johnson Jr comes in attack mode Attack Mode put JMA over there and run a go and see what happens all right um so let's go ahead and get to the next topic the next topic is the player evaluations player evaluations now this is uh another topic that I I came across I was watching another podcast um and and there was like this gushing there was this gushing over iffy and I have no problem with you gushing over iffy iffy is a very good player iy came on in the second half of the Season phenomenal um he helped win the division just like I say Derek Barnes and I'm being funny okay it's is it's a joke it's not something I actually believe but I say that Derek Barnes single-handedly took us to the NFC Championship game and I will accept no Derek Barn uh slander so I also can say the same thing that if he uh single-handedly took us to the division or winning the division for the first time in 30 plus years but obviously I am joking because they just got the final inter interceptions to seal the game um so I have no problem with you liking iy I iffy I have no problem with you loving iffy my problem is this evaluation tactic that people use where they don't tell the entire story now this person inadvertently told the entire story but still wanted to make his case that we should consider iy as better than this safety or that safety because what he did in 500 and something snaps now okay yeah that was about half of wait stop half of the snaps that a if you if you have a player play half of the snaps and I know um will and Eric were talking about this on uh the rising grind Morning Show last week I believe when they were talking about pan Su and Trent Williams and I think it was Tristan wors right now pan Su was the one that played the most snaps out of all of them so if you've got a player that plays the most snaps against a player that plays less snaps and if they're significantly less I think it was Tristan wors or or Trent Williams that played like 400 less snaps than pan Su how are we evaluating them on the same plane right so if you're saying he gave up this this many pressures and this guy gave up this many pressures well he had 400 more snaps to give up those amount those amount of pressures you can't actually evaluate players and say this guy is better than this guy or you know because of the numbers and their stats if they haven't played the same amount of stats or snaps and it doesn't have to be exactly the same amount it doesn't have to be 1,000 snaps versus 1,000 snaps but if it's 1,000 snaps versus 600 snaps or 1,000 snaps versus 500 snaps that is not an accurate depiction of what they have done you actually have to now project things so if you're saying all right this guy has five interceptions in 500 snaps and this guy has five interceptions in a thousand snaps so that means that the guy that has 500 interceptions in five or five 500 interceptions that's crazy the guy that has five interceptions and 500 snaps must be better than the guy that has five interceptions and a thousand snaps because it took him double the time that it took this other guy to do it no because that's not reality we don't know what the guy would have done given 500 more snaps he might not have gotten any more interceptions and then he would have the exact same numbers if he got 500 more snaps and he got one more interception then he would have one more interception than the guy that's already at a th with five interceptions so we must evaluate people fairly we can't evaluate a player that doesn't have the same body of work that doesn't have the same opportunities to say this guy did it like this and this guy did it like this so that means he's better than this guy make the snaps comparable if even if a guy plays 1,000 snaps and I'm using 1,000 because it's a nice round number and the other guy plays 900 snaps there's still a 100 snap difference now is it more fair yes is it completely accurate no so I'm going to say that just to to throw out a number and I want to see if you guys agree with me if you're evaluating players they need to be and if you're trying to if you're trying to to compare the snap the snaps they need to be within within 50 snaps of each other I will say 50 let me know if you guys agree uh do you guys believe that they should have a number closer or not because I'm I'm going with 50 because you never know due to injury due to whatever the case may be if if it's 50 I believe maybe fatigue maybe a Ticky Tac injury here and there 50 is a nice I I think that's a good number so what do you guys think um Eric ramaki says correct Chef he's talking about the evaluation uh you you just can't have the huge disparity between the numbers um you just can't have it it it's just like the whole the whole goat debate right in basketball and they say the one guy that's playing now don't say his name not a fan the one guy that's playing now he's the goat because oh he's got you know 30 40,000 points all right well the actual goat didn't play as many years just one guy did so let's let's cut off their careers at the same time look at their look at their uh stats for at the same level and the other guy the actual goat blowing this guy out of the water completely out of the water all right um rockon Sports says you have to average out the Snap load to the stats line projection 50 snap difference or Gap I would say there has to be a 15% R rule which equates to about two games okay so how many snaps do you think the they would play in two games uh M Marcus says I think who they're playing during those snaps is important to context too um yeah yeah I mean that that would be true but you can't always I mean look the NFL is the NFL it's hard to say that the level of competition is severely different you know what I mean uh it's different it's different but is it severely different now I guess it's different if if you're playing if you're playing Anthony Johnson Jr right and you're like all right I got 200 yards against Anthony Johnson Jr and then you go up against Xavier McKenna and you're like yeah I got 50 yards you know I could understand it at the point you're you're right I can understand at that point um so rockon Detroit Li says 80 80 snaps per game so you're saying 160 snaps is a difference all right so 160 snaps is your your cut off say it's got to average two games that's the dispar we got I got to think about that one so we have we're going to have to crunch some numbers have to do some live on there number crunching uh next time so you said pan Su played about 68 snaps per game so is your number 80 are you saying that your number it should be an 80 80 snap difference because I said 50 so I think that's what you're saying I'm not sure all right um we'll see what we'll see what you guys are saying after this all right so the end of the of the player evaluations was like I said if he played about um half the snaps as Kirby played so again you would have to that that's just a that's a huge disparity um I know we've got you know people that don't like like Kirby Joseph there's one there's one opinion that Kirby Joseph was actually he looked worse because what in what was in front of him was really bad the cornerbacks were not helping him and he was having to make up for a lot of the cornerback mistakes a lot of the cornerback blown coverages we had cam Sutton there we had Kendall vildor there and again I am not going to throw any shade on kindall vor's name because I believe that Kendall vildor was not supposed to be in the position that he was in he was not brought in to be a starter and he was just there doing the best that he could and that's what you can expect from a guy that you signed off of the Bears practice squad you have to expect that they just do their best if they are out there in the NFC championship game they shouldn't be out there now I know you can say Well they're NFL players so they no no there's levels to NFL players we just said Anthony Johnson Jr with his 47.9 uh defense grade against Xavier mcken with what was it 87.5 those are different players now Xavier m mcken is two times the player that this Anthony Johnson Jr is right so when you have a a guy that's kind of a two times less type of player which we could say for Kendall vildor you know being on a practice squad he's not supposed to be out there so I'm not going to throw any shade on kallor I think kle vildor played well um based on his circumstances and I believe that one play the ball bouncing off of his face mask completely soured some on him but it didn't sour me on him um now do I want to see Kendall vildor out there in the NFC Championship Game this year no unless he has a complete career Resurgence where he just becomes like this phenomenally better player um maybe he gets superpowers or something uh so at that point yes I would love to see him out there but right now what we know about kall vildor he's depth special teams guy death special teams guy is not someone that you want in the back end of the NFC championship game um I didn't even look at kall's uh grade uh Eric cuz he wasn't he wasn't part of the started the projected starters uh and thank God he wasn't part of the projected starters but I didn't look at his grade um I can get it a little bit later all right um let's get to enemy expectations enemy expectations um now I know that this was touched upon on the morning show yesterday not today but it was touched upon on the morning show yesterday um Darius slle Darius Slay came in uh he did the green light podcast with Chris long and obviously um they used to be both of them were our our Philadelphia Eagles players obviously Chris long is a former Philadelphia Eagles player so obviously they have the camaraderie and all these things and and they understand the culture together and they understand the makeup of the Philadelphia fans they understand the makeup of the Philadelphia Eagles so when I was was watching the podcast um Darius Slay made a comment and it was just a comment um I I don't think it was anything too inflammatory or whatever he was talking about Matthew Stafford coming back to the Detroit Lions or to Detroit not to the Lions and being booed and he said he just didn't like that he didn't diminish the fans he didn't say the fans are bad and all of these things he he didn't have anything but kind of praise for Detroit and their fans uh here's the thing this is why I call them enemy expectations Darius Slay played seven years for the Detroit Lions and he was unceremoniously removed from the Detroit Lions he wanted to stay in Detroit um but Matt Patricia the cancer that is Matt Patricia uh kind of imas ated him in front of everybody and that was the end of their relationship um he had to go at that point so with Darius slle I don't hold any ill will see so there are levels to leaving a team uh when you're forced out when you're traded when you are put in a situation where it's untenable you can no longer work with a coaching staff and it's not your fault I I don't have any ill will toward you I don't I I hope Darius SLE does well every step of his career uh he was a good player for us and that's that with Darius Slay um Matthew Stafford for me is different you know I know there are a lot of Matthew Stafford F Stafford fans uh and I was a I was a a Stafford supporter right I supported Stafford when he did well I was happy when he did well but you know the cardiac cats thing Matthew Stafford with those late game turnovers he did he he took some years took some years off my life okay the that was the cardiac Cat Days um but the thing about Matthew Stafford is and obviously it's in his it's his prerogative if he can do what he wants to do shout out Bobby Brown um Matthew Stafford asked to be traded from the Detroit Lions when the new regime came in Brad Campbell right Brad Campbell when the Brad Campbell regime came in Matthew Stafford was um on vacation in Cabo with Shawn McVey and that was that wasn't set up at all that was just a big big coincidence that they just happened to be in Cabo together I don't buy that but anyway uh he he was in in Cabo with Shawn McVey came back wanting to be traded to the Los Angeles Rams Brad Holmes acquiesced and traded him so there's a difference between these two players there's a difference between how these players exited the team the franchise the city Matthew Stafford asked to be traded he asked out he did not want to be in Detroit he did not believe in the new regime and why would he why would he believe in the new regime I I don't begrudge him for not believing in the new regime it's kind of a revisionist history when you say all right well this player didn't believe in the new regime especially when you're talking about the Lions because the new regime generally doesn't mean anything good right um you know the Martin Mayu regime ended poorly because he didn't pick Aaron Donald and he picked Eric Ebron instead of him right so that that was the biggest mistake I believe that that he made I I think that if you if you draft Aaron Donald and he has the type of rookie season and impact that he would have had next to Sue I think Sue stays in Detroit um and then there's a lot of things that don't happen uh Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell don't get hired which maybe they would have right because we're talking about 2014 and all those things but here's the thing it's the expectation of the enemy when you are a former player of a team A lot has to do your reception when you come back a lot has to do with how you left the team if you left the team Kicking and Screaming wanting to stay there but it just wasn't going to happen you tried to negotiate a Team friendly deal with the team it wasn't going to happen the team said thanks see you later we no longer want your services if you're that kind of player that leaves the team when you come back you generally get a warm welcome you get a tribute and none of the fans none of the fans have any type of hatred in their heart for you or anything of this nature because you showed them that you'll always be a Detroit fan or or not a Detroit fan but you'll always be a detroiter or you'll always be a a a Floridian or whatever whatever fan base um that you were leaving um Matthew Stafford yes him and his I'm not GNA mention his wife Matthew Stafford did a lot for the city of Detroit you know got foundations and did a lot uh in the community and all these things 100% uh but on the football field when you come back after leaving after asking to be traded there you can expect you can expect that the welcome will be frigid it's not going to be warm right and it's a different thing we don't care about your kids Kelly Stafford nobody was booing them kids but I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure this September somebody's gonna be booing your kids and it's just because it's not because the kids deserve to be booed kids don't matter but it was just the asinine thing that Kelly Stafford told Matthew Stafford that people were booing her kids no one no one cared about your kids Kelly people were booing you okay people were booing you because there's a lot of reasons why people were booing you Kelly okay but when you leave a team and you come back and there's a frigid there's a frigid welcome you should expect that you should expect that a Matthew staff should have expected like he he acted like he expected it but there were some interviews that he did before he came back and he was kind of trying to do the Tom Gores thing oh I was great in the community and we were great in the community and they love us and I I I hope they'll still love us it was the playoffs man it was the playoffs it was the Detroit Lions first uh home playoff game in like 30 years and you're the enemy don't expect a warm welcome you are the enemy and to Darius Slay and to any of the other players and you know who who don't like being booed by fans we're not booing you the person because largely I I think a lot of people don't really care what you do in your personal life as long as you're not a you know a bad person or whatever this it we're not booing your personal life we're not booing your family we're not booing your friends we're booing the jersey and the helmet the overall uniform that you are playing in we do not care about you as a human being in that instance in that instance and at that time you are the enemy and you should have no expectations other than being welcomed as the enemy you are a former player you're are not a current player and the NFL fan bases love to root for their current players respect everything that you've done for the franchise respect everything that you did when you were here but if you are no longer here Darius Slay Matthew Stafford and anybody else come get these Boo that is it for today guys I appreciate you all hanging out stopping by you know what it is you came for the football you stayed for the food cuz you know I had to cook it up um I'mma get to some of your comments in the chat before I get out of here um see the the slay Tik Tock where he called out the fans all right Stafford equals zero playoff wins in 10 plus Seasons golf equals two playoff wins in three season correct um I don't know why people thought we'd be throwing rose pedals at Stafford he came back to kick our ass that is true 100% uh M MERS M Mike P says I am not a Stafford fan I am a lions fan when Stafford plays against uh against us he's no different in my eyes than Aaron roders or Kirk Cousins or Caleb Williams or Justin Fields that's it uh he asked out so this year we should all turn our backs on Stafford yes yes we should let's turn our backs on staford uh a Division champion uh Championship two for golf that is correct all right I appreciate you guys once again as always until next time peace
