glad to have you with us from Las crues New Mexico and agie Memorial Stadium home in the New Mexico State agies and we have a showdown coming up in the land of enchantment little gets the blood boiling white like a rivalry game barbs shots trash talk things that go on throughout the week will now all be settled on this field as we'll see a squad from the Mountain West the New Mexico Lobos taking on a squad hoping to prevent another L this week the New Mexico State agies glad to have you with us for EA Sports will Bo it away to start the game and he takes this from inside the five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the aies offense is on the field for the first time today and the adrenaline is pumping on overdrive in games like this guys and it's crucial to get your emotions under control no doubt in rivalry games you've got to limit the mental errors and you've got to limit the penalties cuz those will kill you B and you got to come out control it means so much we know that the fans are all talking about it but it's just football and they'll come to the line just needing a few chain links for a first down they go to the ground the aies pick up the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they move the tight end all [Applause] over wants to throw on first down off the play fake can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down they'll leave it with him that'll be a gain of about seven leaves him with third and three trying to pick up a first down he's going to look for a man on Third and short caught near the sticks it's Banks and he's brought down but a flag is also [Applause] down that penalty moves the ball back 10 yards will play the down somebody needs to make a play here it's third and long from the 26 looking down field and he needs a bunch quarterback just flat Miss incomplete New Mexico state will be forced to punt first boot of the day is on its way he was called on three times in that loss last week he'll be content with the field position making the fair catch right around the 30 yd line the Lobos offense will get the ball for the first time as we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the football game this time it's complete not the biggest play in the world but it's one that can set the tone as he bangs his way out to the 38 now the play fake fires to the middle nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away and the Lobos will bring the punt team onto the field first one of the day is booted away they ran him out there four times in the victory last week fair catch called for but a flag is on the field let's see what that's about kick the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the [Applause] penalty out of the shotgun they go to the ground they'll pick up four second and Six coming went to the running game on first down now here they come again the give to the back and the defense holds firm no pick up at all on that play here on third down for this [Applause] offense pick off looking for room and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception he looked as if he thought he had it all the way and this junior makes a Play Zone equals when I say that DBS linebackers all covering the middle of the field so many guys over the middle of the field trying to take away the easy stuff but reading the quarterback's eyes the whole time whenever he breaks to throw that football and that hand separates from the ball I'm breaking on it you could tell they had a beat on it nice Cut nice instincts give me that int the aies offense will have another go at it looking for space it's McMill good pick up on that play it'll bring up second and four got a little work done on first down now back to the line wide receiver shows motion going to the running game and he's stuffed by that big defensive tackle up front coming to the line of scrimmage on third down looking down field it's Hogan unloads it left it's caught down field that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop he leaves it with his back running behind those pads he gets a couple before he stopped at the 18 picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down right back to him on the ground and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off quick strike complete and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the Stop and on fourth down here comes the field goal unit and this one splits the upright and that'll put the first points of the game on the board it's three to nothing and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor in the studio guys right back to your game game after we update the nation on this one Florida Atlantic delivered The Knockout blow early in this one on route to the type of win that can turn some head there in the American trust me when I say the party is on inoka it's one game you don't want to react too much either way but I think both teams will leave this one with some things to work on moving forward how about that sounds as if they had a good ball game there Kevin thanks for the update RPO complete to open the Drive the defense wouldn't third and long backed up inside their 20 and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down globals will call on their punt team here they come and it's blocked and he's on his way he'll go all the way touchdown New Mexico State what a big time play by the P block team great job rushing the punter understanding where he's trying to kick the football getting your hand on it and then how about the scoop and score and do the rest big time special teams [Music] playing up to add another and with the extra point they push the lead out a little further you don't see this all the time but when you do it is such a momentum swing the block punch scoop and score for a touchdown what a job by the Special Teams really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 from the gun they'll try to impose their running game they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 using his legs it's Jacobs they finally make the stop with the big run is ready to move those sticks for the first down as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter Jet Sweep to the receiver there to make the tackle and that's how we'll wrap up this first period that's the end of the quarter New Mexico state has the lead really strong performance so far to be able to build a lead here in the first period as we look at the stats now the challenge here they've taken a punch but they can't let it get out of hand as we start the second running back searching for a hole you want to make sure to maximize those types of runs and he gets it out to the 41 they've got it at the 41 third and short trying to keep the change moving they'll try to bully their way for the first so important to convert these third downs and they get it done they'll have it at the 42 they're going to go right back to him on first down not much working there it'll be second and nine tried to pound it on first down now back to the line looking to throw it's gamper and the oh is picked off bringing it back the 20 touchdown New Mexico State how about that D coming up with a play like that how efficient have they been as they extend this lead here in week five look I know it's only the second quarter but we're starting to see a pretty significant Gap develop between these two teams right now no doubt when your defense is scoring your offense is scoring good things happening for your ball Club this defense on point reading their scouting reports making big plays now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pi six on the run from inside his own five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 we will get another look at this New Mexico offense they've got nothing done so far and they already find themselves in a three possession hole Jesse yeah and as a head coach you're wondering what didn't I say what didn't I do to get my team ready to go because we look like we're sleepwalking at this point nothing went well in the first quart you just say refresh like let's try to find a way now chip into this lead try to make itwhat manable when you get to the half they'll try to run for it and the lowo will have a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs to the ground he's got it again slips one guy and now he's loose that run epitomizes a veteran ay senior who knows how to find Space free snap Motion in the back field they'll throw it on first down gets it out quickly and oh he was Off to the Races after the catch and they finally drag him down this first half of offense won't go on the Highlight Reel so far but starting to get things moving it's first and 10 false start off the officials offer the and the coach accepts it they will take the [Applause] penalty looking for room it's Sanders and just wedges it ahead a bit before he's brought down after trying the running game on first down they come to the line on second down he's looking to throw a little screen to the running back and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no game land seventh play of the D coming up but a long way to go on third down got it set up on the outside and he'll run across the sidelines after the good game they'll try to get something out of this drive and kick the field goal here on fourth down and this will be a bit of a challenge a 46 yd attempt from the right hatch and the kicker delivers to three to salvage that drive [Music] Mex so they're lining up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down on the move from inside his five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 the New Mexico State offense returns to the field they've got the lead here last time they settled for a field goal but they got to find that balance between being aggressive and careful and I think they'll take that I got the lead Palmer I got the football I got to take care of the football put a nice drive together and just get some kind of points on this drive no doubt lots to be happy about right now if you're this team I think for this one though on this drive it's about finding the one-on-one matchups that are in your favor and then exploiting them he'll do it himself he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short New Mexico state will be forced to punt this will be the second time they've had to kick it away signals for the fair Catch and makes it at the 20 and now this offense will take the field again leaves it with the back followed that blocking and got five out to the 26 halfway there on first down it's second and [Applause] five red pass it's complete and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short game we've reached a two-minute warning and this thing has been onesided and they hope to at least have something to feel good about going into half time going down field for the big play and the DB right with him to knock it away the Lobos will try to pin them back with the punt he hopes it turns out better than last time he had the other one blocked no return coming here as he signals for the fa catch and makes it right around the 30 yd line the aies offense will have another go at it scanning the field it's Hogan he makes the connection great to have perfect blocking but you can also make your own and that's exactly what he does getting it up to the 36 getting some heat got his man quickly and good blocking and space out there to give him enough room to pick up the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs and he was hit just as he released it and it falls to the turf after misfiring it's second down looking to throw it again findot in the middle he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down this defense will try to force a fourth down on Third and short from the 45 and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense there's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half New Mexico state will be forced to [Applause] punt looking for a block it's po they make the stop on the return but there is laundry on the field let's get the call foul the kicker defense so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty so the offense keep this drive alive thanks to the roughing the punter penalty trying to get to it and they couldn't hold off the heat and he goes down with the sack quick timeout call by the offense after the play negative play on first down that's what a defense always wants quarterback wants to throw on second down got the Quick Pass and he goes out of bounds after a nice pick up on that one seventh play of the drive coming up but a long way to go on third down looking to throw and he needs a bunch and that one's incomplete they were just trying to move the chain they were trying to move the scoreboard instead it's fourth [Applause] down and the punt will hit at the seven and they can't Corral it it goes into the end zone it'll come out to the 20 to the air it's dampier looking left makes a connection there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a Little Closer they came out humming on this drive and now it's first down from the 36 quickly out to the tight end that's a really good tackle there giving up some size and still making the play L to fire on second down it's on Target and complete the offense uses a timeout to stop the clock and they'll get a quick breather and the lows getting set on First and 10 he wants to throw and that one's too high and too wide out of bounds and incomplete couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again on second down he'll let it fly fires to the tight end and that defense is there to guide him out of bounds after a short gain time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half couldn't find a man and just had to throw it away to avoid a negative play the lobs line up to punt it away and don't forget and I'm sure he hasn't he had one blocked earlier and it looks as if there will be no return here as the punt goes out of bounds under a minute to play here in the first half and the offense will take a knee and that is how we'll wrap up the first [Applause] half we've played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update thanks so much guys and I need not tell you rivalry games always bring out a ton of emotion and no surprise we saw just that in the first half today and it's been said football is a game of inches and guess what based on the comparison between third down conversion rate today and the average yard per play how can you argue that I mean the low-lying fruit is to look at some of the explosive plays we've seen in panic but this game is going to come down to which team is more efficient when they have the ball and how they play when it matters most with that let's throw it back to the guys to see how this rivalry matchup plays out New Mexico state will kick it away to open this third quarter here he comes from inside his own five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 let's see what the Loos offense has in store down two possessions to start this third quarter they'd love to build some early and here's the third interception of the night and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception man it's it's so frustrating as a coach because you go into half and you're like listen this is what they've been doing this is what we're getting let's go out and execute and what do you do first drive you throw you throw interception you turn the field position to the other side cre immediately this is an absolute disaster to start the second half Bo this is just the type of field position this offense wants they'll come out on this drive and let it rip and he had it for a second but it just dribbled out of his hands and the incompletion brings up a second [Applause] down quickly complete and those slot receivers nowaday you can play Touch football and an elevator to lose to these guys because they're so quick and so Dynamic get open and catch the football and they'll send the field goal team back out for the second time tonight and he'll try to make it two for two this time from 35 yd away it's good and now the lead is even bigger we check in with Kevin coners what's going on Kevin guys two very different emotions inside the locker rooms of those top 15 teams who did battle today Notre Dame took care of business and left little doubt in doing so kind of felt like how that 2012 Irish team led by mantio would just take the will of opposing teams impressive to watch no cupcakes this week fellas this top 15 battle was much anticipated and at least one side can say it's a game he'll save her for some time and Kevin Conor is keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there receiver looks it in it's complete they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker the give to the tail back gets it out to the 38 yd line after picking up 10 on that one it's first and 10 from the 38 yd line looking downfield it's dampier to try to pop one on the screen he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage offense gets set for second down looking for a physical attack from the gun and this offense just can't afford not to get the first down here already trailing big and the clock is not their friend throws to the wide out snagged in the middle it's Jones for much more there a first down and they're down to the [Applause] 42 the give to the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one lost one on that last one it's second and 11 he's looking to throw working the middle it's complete they stop him almost immediately short gain there still a little ground cover to pick up the first looking to throw on third he almost had another one they've already picked off three and just a hair away from number four there and here comes the field goal unit for the second time tonight it's how nice is it as a head coach to have a kicker like this it makes these decisions on fourth down so much easier just strut him out there and let him stroke it through the upright after putting up a three spot the kickoff unit set to go he'll start the return inside his five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 the New Mexico State offense returns to the field David they couldn't pay off that last drive with a touchdown now they move the ball down the field and executed like they wanted to until they stalled out and had to settle for a field goal I think if you want to take the next step two here and score a touchdown you got to start finding more creative ways to get your best players the ball let's see if they can do that here running hard and getting yard out to the 26 now looking for that first down on Third and short from the 26 [Applause] grabbed in the middle it's Stevens they make the stop but the sweet throwing catches plenty to give him a first down and the agies come to the line with a new set of downs quick release by the QB he is stopped behind the line of scrimmage they'll lose yards on that one dropping back it's Hogan fires to the wide out excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock away now facing a third and long they want to just keep throwing it he's got it nice pitch and catch there and they'll have enough for the first down this New Mexico State offense is pushing all the right buttons some early movement along the offensive line and they'll walk it back the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty [Applause] quarterback touch pass on the Jet Street they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks so after the first down run here's second down receiver on the Move gets the touch pass solid fundamentals on that tackle from this freshman eight play of the drive and to keep this one going they'll need to convert a third and five he's looking to throw they've got the screen set up they make the stop but not before the screen has hit him for a first down and much more really good execution by this offense he's looking to throw it C in the back field it's David and how about that catch and run so dangerous this guy long drive continues as the offense keeps working the ball down the field field it's complete on the right side they get it down to the seven on that pass play in Prime position for a score on second down just keeps firing oh so close to paying off the tip had it in his hands but it falls incomplete to the air it's Hogan and he will score touchdown aie the offense strikes again to extend it lead here in the second half and they got everything working how great is this you extend your lead now you get your defense back on the field great job taking advantage of the situation and building on that [Music] lead lining up to tack one more onto that lead [Applause] and the extra point is true and the lead balles to 21 about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown he'll bring it back from inside to SP he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 let's see what the Loos offense has dialed up this time trailing by three touchdowns if you're going to get back in it David the time to start is right now got to start now defense giving up points on that last possession again the offense is going to have to score and Jesse probably scored pretty quickly yeah you got to go Tempo you're going to have to try to fit in as many plays as you can throughout the rest of this game but I think more than that you got to eliminate the negative plays no more penalties and no more turnover one more period to go we'll see just how much fight they've got left in them let's see what they've got on second down he's looking to throw and he just flat dropped it I think he wanted to run before he secured it they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on Third and long try to convert through the air with the catch it's poke dragged down to the turf but not before getting the first down frh set Downs After the completion they'll throw it on first down get it out on the screen he makes the stop but a nice pick up there on first down leaves him in second and management wants to throw it's Danier and the pass is in complete thanks to a big hit lining up trying to convert this third and short from the 40 they'll try to get the first through the air immediately fires to the middle they've got it to the 49 yd line and they'll move the chains and the Lobos have it with a first and 10 looking to move it through the air and it's his fourth interception of the game not a lot on the return but they can live with that as they got it at the 49 man as a defensive lineman late in the game man know it's passed you're pinning your ears back trying to get to the quarterback and DBS are trying to do this pad them stats get the int nice job by this D the aies offense will have another go at it there have been few obstacles for this offense as they are starting to pull away here in the second half Jesse and this has been a dream game for this play caller too right it's like anything that he's calling is working lawlessly yeah it's fun to be the offensive coordinator but not the defensive coordinator they have had no answers it's been an absolutely miserable day trying to Solve the Riddle of this offense they'll snap it from the 39 first and 10 hand off to the single running back trying to impose their will on the ground as he stopped after a 5yd pick up to the 33 they'll try the Run trying to pound their way for he picks up a couple to the 31 offense breaks the Huddle it's third down unloads quickly and they finally haul him down but not before the good catch R the aies are on the Move looking for space it's Washington and he's knocked down but there's also laundry on the field we'll see what the officials have called just an obvious holding call there and one that just kills an offense's momentum back to pass it's Hogan pressure coming just too much heat that time and they knock him down at the 31 sometimes you beat your guy and you get sacked so clean and sometimes like on this play the DBS do a great job covering make the QB hold the football ball and then the rush gets hard the first down sack pushes the ball back for this long second down and you can forget running in the middle against this defense seventh play of the drive coming up but a long way to go on third down quarterback flips it EG quickly to the receiver and how about that alertness and that swarming D to keep him from getting the first down and they'll run the field goal unit back out there this kicker has already banged a couple through never doubt and that will extend their lead even further let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got fellas I think at least a portion of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished up Oregon overcame a tough opponent and not only that a rockus crow the Ducks tuned out all the noise and showed this team can win on its field your field or a neutral field well done a lot to go through in the film session this week for both teams but boy it sure is going to be easier for the side that came away with the win Kevin thanks a lot for that one sounds as if they had a good one there to the air on first downs it over the middle and the defense stops him just short of the first down maybe needed a few more chain links to move the steps to the air it's Danier they almost had another interception they're trying to set records out there looking for that first down on Third and short from the 28 they'll try to get it through the air makes the grab on the left third now they'll really try to get this drive going good execution on third down as they have it first and 10 at the 31 he's going to pass unloads to the wide out all kinds of room to throw that one in there they'll get the first down it's spotted on the 49 looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out it'll be a first down from the 49 yd line he wants to throw using the back as a receiver on the screen they make the stop but a good pick up there on first down we reached the two-minute warning and we see miracles in college football all of the time and they could use one here wants to throw on second down they're setting up the screen didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short game there still plenty of ground to cover for the first now he'll just keep slinging it can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard noosed pass defense and now it's fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down complete out of the back field they didn't get a ton of yardage there but they're really effective at using the back out of the back field and they do it to get the first down here he's looking to throw find just tight end and that is good versatility there and a big hit from the backer in pass coverage the offense will quickly use a timeout line getting set on second down he's looking to throw got it in the middle it's Henry and the defense able to drag him down but not before they'll recycle that down marker the lows will snap it on First and [Applause] 10 looking to move it through the air tight end finds a soft spot the offense gets a quick timeout at this point every second is precious from the 17 yd line threatening to score on First and 10 they're threatening to score and they'll throw it he's right on Target and I know this football game is over but we got to keep fighting we got to keep finding something some kind of Rhythm in this offense something we can hang our hat on that we do really really well listen the intermediate passing game like this has taken over colle short to intermediate so if they can find some of this'll help their offense moov they're going to try to throw for it on third down makes a catch b gets it in touchdown Loos and a nice touchdown continuing to fight continuing to play this one it's pretty much over down multiple possessions this late in the football game it would take a miracle but nice job by this offense continuing to fight push the ball down the field make plays how about this these guys are going for two to the air it's dampier they're trying to get to him trying to get the two here comes the Heat and down goes the quarterback and they won't be able to get any closer with the two-point try almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and he takes this from inside the five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 so with the late lead they're ready to just drain the clock in Victory formation when you deal with the Rivalry game you have to live with the outcome for a full year and this one is going to rest in their minds for the entire season going into next year and it's not going to sit well with the losing team when you lose these you're going to get hounded and you're going to get hate you're going to get social media is going to destroy you about losing to your rival but you got to put it past you it is just one game it's not that big of a deal well Jesse Yeah it kind of is it kind of is a big deal you're right David me a lot these kids they played with each other against each other in high school they've known each other for a long time there's going to be a lot of trash talking going on not just between players but the fans their families coaching staffs this is a game that's going to get talked about for
