Philadelphia Eagles now let's take it to the show what's going on everybody welcome to another 302 Birds Eagles postgame show just ston today know I have a big smile on my face but I'm not smiling because the results I'm just smiling because I'm so excited to do this this season for you guys jack will be here soon it's a Saturday so understandably so he's out with some family and it's also like a weirdly timed game for a pre-season I don't know why the hell they decided to have a game at 1:00 on a Saturday but that's a story for another day we're gon to talk about this ass whooping today that our Philadelphia Eagles received from respectively the Vikings who we own you guys pretty much during the regular season all right I'll just get that out of the way but yeah today was not pretty I mean that first drive the Vikings pretty much just came out and man handled Us in this 26-3 loss I think that that's a good starting spot for today's postgame show it was the first thing that I noticed was my girlfriend and I went to the grocery store you know you got to do as they say on bar stool this week I think it was very well quoted you got to do adult things sometimes so we're out you know grocery shopping getting set and I'm rushing home for this team I don't know why because they looked lost they looked like they weren't ready they looked a little bit too excited Cooper Dee looked a little bit too excited so I was a little bit disappointed because as far as the lack of discipline today um I thought that it could have been better what's up eone Bentley what's up Murphy good game yep yep yep yep and Dobbins yeah man how was the game how was the atmosphere how was the tailgate the tailgate looked insane this morning I'm sorry I couldn't be there but I'm not paying $45 at a principal for parking for a pre-season game if you're with me drop a heart on this drop a like on this all that good stuff because I mean that's that's ridiculous to ask of anybody to pay that but as far as the first drive went I mean they were all over our defense they did whatever they wanted passing running uh that kid Jared Hall they were saying had been playing well all of preseason we made it look like he played well all of pre season we didn't stop that there was no you know defensive stopping he looked like a stud out there Cooper Dee I think got burnt for at least one I think it was two touchdowns which I'll get to a little bit later in the show but it it was not pretty and it felt like the reason that that first drive that they got worked like that was something to do with uh how do I want to put it maybe to do with like discipline or EXC or a blend of the two it really probably was a blend of the two where they were so excited to finally be at home keep in mind we've been away the whole entire preseason that when they finally got home and they probably all have a lot of family there that came to see okay where we want to see where you're living we want to see your first game this that it's a lot of excitement so I don't really blame him but 26 to3 man I mean oh my God it was bad it was really bad and I blame a lot of it on the defense today the defense has looked pretty good overall I know a lot of the starters were not out there today they had a lot of the second Team guys which I think was good get them started get them rolling get them rocking doing their thing which will be good um but yeah they just look lost on that first drive and I can't get over that I had that underlined italicized highlighted bolded circled starred everything everything in my uh notes look at Tatum media in here somebody from twitch Boston I'm glad to see you on here man thanks for letting us know that it's great to see us lose I really really appreciate you saying that pal Dobbins also saying he went to Xfinity today didn't tailgate but the atmosphere was good I think Eagles fans are excited to be back even even despite it being you know loss a loss is bad let's just do it I mean Vikings fans are going to say it if I don't say it right that's the brutal truth so I better say it I better just own it this however is coming from a [ __ ] Boston fan gotta love it Gotta Love Boston man love you man love you to death one of my favorite friends but what happened last week I know it's only preseason but it sounds like maybe you might still be a little bit upset about that Boston Mitch kovsky what's going on man good to see you hope B is well brother hope B is well go Birds Unfortunately today like I'm indicting here not getting it done but I think that that's enough about the first topic we pretty much talked about that let's just get into Cooper Dee too he's got a lot of work to do those plays that he got burnt on he was playing somewhat of good coverage but I would like to see more hand activity if that makes sense it's like he's right on the guy but he's on the guy and he's not doing anything to an extent and I don't play corner so I can only speak so much on that I just think if he got a little bit more hand movement he would see way better results in what he's trying to accomplish which is deflections you're not going to pick off every single pass that was one thing that Ross Tucker was saying during the pregame show that I really liked and I I thought about it when he was in the NFL well let's just start off when younger when he was in you know Middle School grade school high school college he always was trying to run people over it that was what he was taught to do when he got to the NFL it wasn't he was trying to run people over because you're playing with the best of the best you're not always going to be the best guy you're not always going to be the biggest the strongest the tallest so on and so forth so it was more about technique and it was more I'm gonna hold you with me or I'm going to take you with me or this or that I'm GNA be strong enough to stop what you're doing so my running back can get by talking about his offensive line experience so I thought about that when you apply that to the terms of a cornerback too and same thing with coup he's playing with the best of the best now receivers in the NFL whether he realizes it or not even in the preseason the best in the world so he needs to really adjust and say okay maybe I'm not going to be this Ball Hawk that I was maybe I just need to adjust a little bit until I get comfortable and then once you get comfortable then you can really start to go more with your instincts then can kind of start to be that player because there were a couple of plays where um he got burnt there were a couple like curl routes where they went like this basically a z I don't know what a zig maybe a zig out sorry I'm drawing a blank on what that route was because it was a weird angle for me to see and I couldn't exactly but it was basically an out route lower I it looked like a zigg was on the front of it but he just fell for it and then he went the one way and then the receiver went the other way and it's like dude you got to be smarter than that you just play more Zone I don't know so with Cooper deine I really hope that he starts to get it together he's got a little bit more work to do he got burnt on a few plays there but that's also what the NFL is all about you know what I mean that's what preseason is all about so the fact that he's making his mistakes now is good but don't make him during the regular season so hopefully he watches the tape hopefully he goes back and says okay what can I fix big F watches the tape what are some good things that he did what can we use what is he still good at what is he good at on an NFL level these are all things that that that was his first time playing an NFL game so I don't doubt that speaking on my point earlier a lot of guys have family there a lot of guys you know it's their first home game they want to show out they want to look good I'm sure Cooper jeene was feeling all of that times 10 because his family wasn't there or not his family wasn't there but his family probably wasn't there before because he was injured he probably you know didn't necessarily feel the same way he did today because it's game day he's playing so all of those emotions in one game bottled up from the whole preseason what I'm trying to say it's got to be a lot and I think that that might have to do with why you saw that penalty why you saw him bite a little bit early why you may have seen him not seem to be the player that he is but you have to understand that those risks that he's taking he's One play away at all times so at some point it's going to pay off he just needs to figure out okay when is it appropriate to take that risk at the NFL level which I think he will he will he's going to develop but I'm really really happy with what I've seen from him so far in the preseason before this um today I wasn't disappointed I would say I would say like I said it's a lot so I think a lot of emotion comes into comes into play that's the nice thing about preseason too they they get that emotion out of the way I'm not necessarily one of those people that's for getting rid of the postseason or preseason I don't know about you guys but I'm not necessarily against it because I'm all for getting players out there getting players more playing time letting them learn letting them get more experience not four games but I think two games would be fine I'd like two or at least one so that you had those Jitters those things of going on the field for the first time where it hope doesn't count you know what I mean in a game like that the first game where we'll all be there Philadelphia Eagles fans being we will be weak too against Atlanta I'll be there I know Dennis should be there we'll have a lot of people there should be having a tailgate but by that point I would like to see some of these younger guys okay you're two weeks in now you should have some of those Jitters out of the way you should be ready to play football you should be ready to make those plays and know when to take risks and that's going to be a lot up to back to our Point earlier Vic fangio so he's got a lot of work to do it's going to be a long you know couple of weeks for him because the good thing about the Eagles defense for long-term value is they're young the scary thing is that they're young BG is you know gonna be leaving soon so they're G to be really relying on his experience I'm glad that they brought back CJ GJ somebody that also has super B experience that's going to be something that people like talk about later down the road oh wow he has Super Bowl experience this is great because this and that damn skippy it is damn right it is because he can end up you know saying to this defense being the ultimate quarterback of this defense hey here's what you want to do here's what you don't want to do uh and points to Bradberry no I'm just kidding Bradberry I think will have a good year too and if Jack was here he'd be saying that too give him some patience guys I think that he may have a better year than some people we're expecting but we shall see we shall see and like we said earlier as well the defense compared to the offense for the Eagles it's night and day the defense I think has a lot more risk whereas the offense is a sure lock for me the defense I I'm worried about a little bit there's a little bit more holes where the offense I know okay like we have a pro baller at every position we should pop off like this should be a no-brainer so I'm I'm very excited for that and starting at the front of that is the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line which they were showing today in the broadcast everybody's like 300 plus the the smallest guy on that offensive line is Cam Jurgens at 63 303 pounds everybody else is massive massive so the fact that Squan Barkley who has massive thighs it's going to be running behind that is going to be nuts I can't wait to see it I'm I'm ecstatic for it I'm excited for it and what I was very interested in today too watching the game was that they kept in the same offensive line most of the game which some people would have been upset about what that tells me is that the Eagles are confident in these guys in their second string and confident in these guys being a dep piece for them going down the road so I think what they're trying to do is say okay go out there get as much as much exposure as you can when you're not a starter get as much playing time as you can so that if something happens down the road you're ready for it you've had Pat on pad contact you know what I mean you've had hits you've played at an NFL level you're not scared you're ready to go you're ready to rumble and I really like that about statland and the Eagles offensive line uh coaching room they really get these guys I think ready for the NFL before they get to the NFL look at Landon Dickerson I mean how they really developed him night and day difference I remember when he came in a lot of people were saying he's a question mark this he's not a question mark why because he's got stoutland you coaching him so I think that the Eagles really really do a great job of developing offensive lineman you saw that rugby player out there today too from Australia that's been an interesting story they're just trying to get as many of these guys as much playing time as they can so that they can say okay here you develop you develop how he's literally playing like Madden in real life or some sort of it I'm really happy what I've seen with this offensive line so I did want to indicate that that they seem confident and then when they brought up that graphic today that everybody was above 300 lb starting I didn't realize that until today I was like God like I would hate to be running against that you know what I mean like that would be tough so it's been crazy it's been wild to see if you guys agree with me do you guys feel ready for the regular season let me know that in the comments too this is something I've been thinking about I don't know that I quite feel ready um I feel ready as far as the starters go I think that the starters are ready but we knew that that's a given if you want to talk about the secondary players the depth pieces I don't know that they're ready that's where I start to worry Kenny picket did not look good at all this preseason the receivers on and off Joseph not had that game where he looked fantastic and then today he had that drop that ended up being a pick so I really think back to everything I've said which seems to be a point for just a lot of these younger guys they need to get their emotion in check they need to calm down and realize that it's a football game it's one game one game doesn't Define them now the whole preseason might Define them that's three games but take it one game at a time is the point that I'm trying to make they get so overwhelmed so caught up in the moment I think that they don't focus on the fundamentals and the small things and this is just what I'm observing of what I'm seeing I'm not an analyst I'm an Entertainer once again but from what I've seen it just seems like they get so caught up and wrapped up in the moment that they do dumb [ __ ] like that and I love it because not love it but I resonate with it because I've been there I I've gotten caught up in a moment and it means that they care that's why I say I love it those players that have those moments secretly care a lot say what you want about Nelson agalar no I'm not about to sit here and say that Nelson agalar is a good receiver but what I will say is that Super Bowl run Nelson agalar was a great receiver and he cared and there's something to be said for those guys that care you can't buy caring especially in this generation so I do think that a lot of those guys showed flashes throughout preseason but they didn't show consistency and that's what I would have wanted to see more of throughout this whole preseason more consistency more just you know Focus from these guys so we'll see we'll say I also agree with Dennis on this I don't know what you guys think I'm old school on this and I understand that but I really think that the starter should have came out for at least one drive I would have liked to see them out there at least one drive the reason for that is I think it's good for even guys like Jaylen Herz like AJ Brown Devonte Smith GD CJ GJ all of them well CJ GJ is kind of injured right now but slay you get the point to get a little bit of the Jitters out now they're not going to be like these younger guys the first time that they touch the field and you know make a mistake but I want everybody to just get it out see what it's like to be back in a game okay here we go because if not you're going to be seeing that week one I don't know if people remember last year New England game week one away that was a tough game that was not a pretty win it was a win but it wasn't a pretty win I'm not even kidding if I remember off the top of my head it might have been I know last week's was 14 to 13 I feel like that game was close like 16 to 13 or something like really low scoring so that's what you're going to have you're going to have that stalling and when they really get oiled up and going like AJ Brown and Jaylen Herz were once we got to late September all the way through October a little bit in November that's when they're at their best and I think the earlier that the Eagles can get them ready get them in NFL shape get them not in NFL shape but in NFL form NFL know like okay here we are like Jitters are out for lack of a better term they'll be good and everybody gets Jitters I don't mean that as a bad thing like oh only Jaylen Herz or only AJ Brown gets Jitters no every player needs to just get it out it's human it's how we are so and this new school of trying to protect your player I get it but I would have at Le would have liked to see at least one drive so and and then they also like had them in helmets and everything for the Raven if you know you're not going to play them throughout the whole preseason don't waste your starters time and make them put on the pads and do all that that's just my take on that too that's that's a little bit absurd as well Dennis saying I'm hearing there's a slight chance we get black Jersey week two not fully confirmed yet I would think that we would I also think if they haven't announced what Kelly Green game yet is let me know in the comments if you guys have seen that I think that the Atlanta game could be a great candidate for that earlier in the year Monday Night Football they love to light up the whole place screen the Miami game last year was one of the Kelly Green which was a Sunday night game I believe at 8 o'cl as well so I do think that they're gonna do some sort of Jersey to open the season whether it be black whether it be maybe all white would be kind of cool white on white or whether it be kelly green if it's Kelly Green home opener 2024 Super Bowl season could you imagine how crazy that would be that would go so hard all kelly green has announced okay yeah you are right sorry I forgot about that Jags and cowboys they they should use the Kelly Green like and ask the players because I'm just saying this in my head this is how I think as a business person as a marketing person if you had the Falcons in their Throwbacks and the Eagles in their Kelly Green Home oh my God that would be such a fun game to watch that would be like watching Madden or for people that are older like what the NFL was like in the 90s and 80s when uniforms were good and I'm not saying I don't like the midnight green I in fact love the midnight green I really like it I don't want it to go away I want it to be the eagles's primary uniform I don't want the old word Mark to go away either I love that but they're changing that but it's really nice to Tribute the kelly green and tribute it more times than two times a year I would love a Kelly Green away jersey maybe that one time would be cool the NFL if they were smart should have teams say okay here you wear your home Jersey you wear your away jersey you do this you do that you wear this throwback you wear that throwback they're getting a little bit better about not being the NFL the no fun League they really are but they still have a long way to go the helmet thing was a big step in the right direction that was complete utter [ __ ] like what like you manufacture so many new helmets for so many players a year like and you have a rule one or two hel like it's because they didn't want it if they couldn't control it so I don't know how much of the Goodell that is too Goodell's at the top but I don't know how much of that Goodell is and how much of that is actually just Goodell being a puppet and being told what to do yeah I don't like the new word Mark either it's growing on me I'll say I don't hate it it could be worse they could have done a way worse job with it I'll say that Dennis they could have done worse but if they would have brought back something like the 1996 like we have here and then we also use up here too whoops there you go I love that that's my favorite Eagles word mark this one close second because this one just has like passion it's what it's like being a Philadelphia Eagles fan so it makes sense for me they haven't announced what they'll wear Dennis did rumor that they will wear black so we could see for that and uh they may wear yeah midnight with black pants which I don't like that combo personally I think that's a weird combo I hope that they don't do that I would I would rather them either go all black or all white if they like did a white out or blackout like as a stadium oh my God that crowd everybody in Black jerseys or everybody in white jerseys that would go so hard I don't think that they're going to do that unfortunately because it's the no fun League the NFL is gonna have some sort of say and I don't know why they wouldn't wear their black jerseys in Brazil too that that kind of shocked me because that whole thing that they went through with the colors and this and that we'll just have the Eagles where their black jerseys and the Packers where they're white problem solved and Eagles fans will be cool with that it counts as a home game for us at least let us wear cool jerseys if we're not going to be able to get a tailgate right if you're with me on that I mean like it up share the video all that good stuff subscribe because those little things really really help but season ready I would say I feel about 75 70% of the way still a lot of work to do and I say that as a realistic fan as somebody who expects one of these at the end of the year a Super Bowl trophy that's what we all want right so you got to be hard on yourself you always got to be looking at yourself in the mirror saying how can I kick my own ass and I hope that the Eagles are doing that after this preseason because even though there was a lot of bright spots will Shipley the defense tro Jr I think Nolan Smith had a pretty good overall uh preseason I think that they know what they're getting with this defense now which is good but they also know what they're getting you know what I mean with that being said you got some work to do still now today at the end before we wrap up the postgame show I just want to talk about this as well so Jan doson comes on and he was being questioned and the one thing he said that I really liked is he doesn't know what his role is going to be yet here but he just wants to win and he will do whatever it takes and whatever they need to win and that's what the whole culture is about here and he already understands that and that's what he liked watching from afar I love that I love that I wonder if how Roseman talks to these guys at all gets to know them before because he just seemed to carry himself so well he had such a great attitude he was so happy to be here it seemed like now he wasn't like jumping up and down like malada or some of the animated offensive lineman we have but you could tell he was excited and and this was a new opportunity for him and he was ready to make the most of it but he was also ready to be a team player that was great to see too lot to be said for that what do you guys think let me know in the comments I think that's all I got for you guys I don't want to you know say anything else because there's not so now every time I go there I'm going to get it and not tell her and I think I'm just going to save money because normally what I would do is I would get like two pizzas now what I can do is I can actually get three because I could never get the banana pizza because I couldn't afford it well I could afford it because Nick has great pricing but I'm just also broke because I'm also paying for my home right now shout out to the Garmin group if you guys need a home I'm giving all the shout outs today but back to Nicks I would always get two pizzas now I can get three there's just so many good things there every time I go there I have to get three things so I'm like always between the pizzas and my girlfriend always ends up making me get a tomato pie cuz his tomato pie slaps too so I'll get a tomato pie and then I'll get my Mike's hot honey and then I always want to get the banana Pizza best thing ever there but then I want to get a cheese steak too because his cheese steaks are good I'm like well I'm not going to be able to eat all that so I got to pick and choose but now that she likes to mic's hot honey my point is I think that my set item menu if you guys want to know what to get there I'd recommend a Mike's hot honey Pizza a banana pizza for dessert get some vanilla ice cream or some sort to go with it you'll thank me later it's like literally one of my favorite desserts it's so good and like the dough that he uses is so soft it's like a pillow like chase you said it's the best analogy for it so good and then I would also get the cheese steak with Cooper sharp cheese of
