to square off in an interrac conference battle in the AAC as we'll see a team fresh and ready to go off of by week the UTSA road runners taking on a team who is rested and ready coming off of by the more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive he picks up maybe a couple before he stopped right at the 30yd line now this offense facing a third and long from their own 30 from the gun wants to pass unloads to the wide out he's got it they've got it to the 49 yd line and they'll move the chains Memphis coming to the line with a fresh seter of down he leaves it with his back able to scr three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven went to the running game on first down now here they come again they'll run behind the big guys on the right and a good solid pick up for the defense Cuts him down and runs like that are like body blows in a boxing match four five sixy gains early turn into 20 30 40 yd gains later they really wear down defenses and they test their physicality the Tigers have a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs to the ground he's got it again I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced give to the running back found a little running room and they get him stopped after a pickup of six to the 32 about to snap it for the eighth time on this drive and it's a third down and [Applause] four quickly to the tie down moving deeper into enemy territory move the chains it's first down at the 27 new set of downs after that completion they'll keep it on the ground and they try the middle of this Stout defense and they rise to the challenge on the that back had absolutely nowhere to run the football actually is he counting I think he's counting to make sure there's only 11 guys on defense on second down he'll let it fly and he got smack just as he released the pass it's incomplete third and long coming from the 27 yd line you can make a field goal from here just don't take a negative play going for it all and they dial up a shot play but they couldn't hook up nice job by the defense they're mixing up their look they're third and long in field goal range they go Zone coverage so everybody on the back end has the eye on the quarterback and they're able to break on the ball Force the incompletion not a chance missed it after the Miss no change in the score [Applause] coming to the line of scrimmage on third down they'll try to get it through the air they're bringing heat pressure is effective from the defense a knocking down just behind the Midfield stri at the 48 how about the defense getting home with the pass rush playing man coverage in the back end you need to win up front those guys got to get to the quarterback do a great job rushing the passer I can play man when I got a pass rush like that it's first and 10 from the 31 looking to move it through the air throws to the wide out the Freshman quarterback very fortunate for that one to fall incomplete they'll try to get on the same page this time second and 10 from the 31 he's looking to throw blasted as he lets it Go just flying through the air like a superhero to make the grab man I I love those guys that are willing to put their body on the line and he does it right here man just lays out that Ball's coming in you can see it from several yards out making that play laying out keeping the football from touching the turf great concentration great effort by the receiver hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and it never had a chance second down after that incompletion he's looking to throw fires to the wide out tosses it incomplete well on that incompletion the quarterback and receiver just not on the same page I mean that wasn't even close they've got the ball at Midfield but they're facing a third and long unloads to the wide out oh man another incompletion that's three in a row Memphis will be forced to punt away looking everywhere for [Applause] room third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass complete to the [Applause] left let's go and the tigers are marching down the [Applause] field the give is to Smith shakes off the defender he had all kinds of company as soon as he got and he had to fight his way back just to get to the line of scrimmage going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end [Applause] zone quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep he is stopped behind the line of scri as they'll lose yards on that one they'd love to pick up this third down and get a fresh set with first and goal third and long and he'll try to throw for it and they'll get him on the ground at the three yd line they're going to go for it with a couple of good options here get it to the one you get the first down get it farther you get the touchdown and he sacked a big play on four they're within field goal range at the 29 let's see if they can pick up a few or the first down on Third and long he's got the back in the middle there to make the tackle but down I don't always have to push the ball down the field I love when QBs drop back look at the matchups oh I got my running back I think he can get the first first down give him the football let him be an athlete with the football in his hands after he catches it nice job by the QB nice job by the running back they get him on the ground and that'll be the final play of this third period defense has been dominant we reach the end of the third quarter nobody's been able to get on the board as we check out the stats it's easy to think back to 2014 wake Forest Virginia Tech the last time we had a game go into overtime as a scoreless tie let's see if that's the way this one goes as we start the fourth going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down he's got it he thought he might turn that into a score but the defense able to wrestle him down short they'll stop him in the [Applause] three he'll throw on third down touchdown road runners they've got the lead here in the fourth finally we finally get some points on the board the defense has been dominating the day unbelievable job three qus of shutout football now finally some points on the board let's see where this goes now once you've created some momentum and big play has this defense reeling and now they'll snap it first and 10 from the 14 the lone back's got it he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple the road runners are in the hurry up wide receiver shows motion they'll go to the ground made a little something out of that run he picked up a couple down to the 14 Bo they' love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal on third down going up top and makes the grab in the end zone touchdown UT San Antonio that one ought to give them firm control with this game and down in the fourth quarter it's too late for empty possessions they'll go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down can't find his man and the road runners will go for it here on Fourth Down Easy they'll try to pick up the first he will and how about the defense coming up big on Fourth and short you know they're going to run the football great job stacking the Box getting the big stop to the air on first down a deep throw as the clock winds down and the tackle is made but not before that completion gets him 30 plus that last big play one that can really jump start a drive it's first and 10 from the 47 he wants a big play here late a sensational grab down the field there as they try to at least put a positive spin on the end of this game now they've got to hustle to the line and get [Music] set he'll set up to throw pulls it in that completion will take it close to the 5 yd line they'll mark it at the six the hurry up now second down clock ticking now he's looking to throw had it in his hands for the score and let it fall to the turf it'll be third down well that last incompletion is a good example of why your timing has to be so good as a quarterback because the windows they open and they close so quickly in this part of the field this offense hasn't been able to find the end zone with a GPS and a slide rule can they finally get a touchdown on Third and goal he wants it all and the incomplete pass on third down but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's about they'll decline the penalty here and let the result of that play Stand a fourth quarter field goal down by this much that's a lot like putting a lipstick on the proverbial pig doesn't do much to change the looks got to score the touchdown on Fourth and goal looking to throw fires to the end zone and it's caught late touchdown here probably to little too late it would take a Monumental Miracle to come back down it's not over yet there's still a little bit of time on the clock obviously that score gives you a chance but man oh man do you need some miracles to happen some way to get this football back and do some damage with it [Music] [Applause] first things first they have to recover the onside kick and then they'll have time for probably just one play and a few anxious moments but the hands team is able to fall on it bad offense good defense no scoring that's pretty much what we had in this one as they come up short in a a bit of a slog Fest yeah and most of the time in college football it's the opposite right you don't defense optional offense scores so many points this one back and forth offense is struggling trying to make plays defense has put on a great effort a lot of issues for this offense in this game today obviously and I think the coaching staff now really needs to take a look at how they're game planing and how they're going to give their players an opportunity to have success it may be time now to start changing some things up a little bit so that's going to do it for us for Jesse Palmer David poock
