WDSU FIRST WARNING WEATHER. IT IS ALL OVER NOW. FRANCINE LONG GONE. WE CALL IT POST-TROPICAL CYCLONE. FANCY TERM FOR IT'S JUST AN ORDINARY SYSTEM. STILL POWERFUL, CHURNING OVER THE MIDSOUTH AND OUT AHEAD OF THAT. SOME FEEDER BANDS STILL PRETTY STRONG. LET ME SHOW YOU WHERE IT SITS AT THIS TIME. AND YOU SEE, THE SPIN IS JUST NORTH OF MEMPHIS. THE SYSTEM IS ACTUALLY GOING TO MOVE, AS WE SAY, CUT ITSELF OFF AND TRY TO JOIN UP WITH A WEAK SYSTEM HERE. SUBTROPICAL JET STREAM, JUST AGAIN, FAST CURRENT OF WINDS. A LITTLE SYSTEM THAT DROVE IT INTO THE UNITED STATES. AND IT'S HERE. BUT NOW IT'S JUST ITS OWN THING SPINNING AROUND. AND SOME OF THAT ENERGY IS STILL GOING TO BE AROUND FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. AND IT DOES HAVE AN INFLUENCE ON OUR PARTICULAR FORECAST OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. NOW, THIS ISN'T GOING TO BRING ANY PARTICULAR RAIN OR ANYTHING HEFTY. OUR WAY. IT WILL JUST BE BRINGING US SOME CLOUDS AND A SLIM CHANCE THAT WE GET AN ISOLATED SHOWER A LITTLE BIT CLOSER IN. I WANT TO SHOW YOU WHAT HAPPENED AS IT MADE ITS WAY THROUGH. IT LOOKS LIKE YOU COULD SEE SOME OF THOSE TRACKS AND POSTS THAT WERE LOOKING LIKE THAT. THIS THING TOOK A REALLY WEIRD LITTLE TRACK, BUT AS YOU CAN SEE HERE, GENERALLY IT WAS A NORTHEASTWARD MOVEMENT AND RIGHT UP NORTH INTO LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN. POWERFUL STORM REALLY, AS IT DROVE THROUGH IT, IT STRENGTHENED RIGHT BEFORE IT MADE LANDFALL IN THE TERREBONNE PARISH HOUMA INTO LAFOURCHE. AND IN THIBODAUX AREA. THAT WAS ONE OF THE WORST STRETCHES OF WINDS. AND THAT'S WHY A LOT OF POWER KNOCKED OUT THAT DIRECTION. NOW, AS FOR THE RAINFALL TOTALS, JUST FOR THE DAY, MANDEVILLE OVER NINE INCHES METAIRIE, EIGHT AND A HALF. AND SOME OTHER AREAS IN NORTHERN JEFFERSON IN THE METRO, OVER EIGHT INCHES TO SOME OF THAT JUST IN A COUPLE OF HOURS. ST. AUG INTERNATIONAL RECORD SETTING 7.32 AND EVEN ALGIERS IN THE WEST BANK GOT ABOUT FIVE AND A HALF. BUT IF YOU LOOK AT ALL THE RAIN SINCE TUESDAY MORNING ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE EVENT, LITTLEWOODS RECORDED OVER 16IN OF RAIN SAINT ROCH IN THE CITY, OVER 14 IN THE NORTH SHORE FOUNTAIN BLUE, JUST OVER 11IN AND EVEN AT THE AIRPORT WE ENDED UP WITH 8.4 THROUGH THE ENTIRE EVENT. THE WINDS IMPRESSIVE DULAC AT 96 AT THE AIRPORT, 70 AND THAT WAS AT LAKEFRONT. EVEN NEW ORLEANS EAST WITH A GUST OF 70. IT IS ALL OVER NOW. TEMPERATURES TODAY EVEN IN ITS WAKE. IF THERE'S ONE GOOD THING YOU DIDN'T HAVE POWER, IT WASN'T SO AWFULLY HOT. TOPPED OUT ABOUT 85 OR SO, GIVE OR TAKE A DEGREE OR TWO. REAL TIME TEMPERATURES WERE INTO THE 70S. DEW POINT STILL INTO THE 70S. SO IT'S A LITTLE BIT HUMID. WINDS VERY IMPORTANT, OF COURSE, WHEN THEY'RE NOT TOO BAD. NO WINDS. BOGALUSA HAMMOND. NO WIND GUSTS ANYWHERE, JUST A LIGHT BREEZE GENERALLY SWITCHING FROM THE SOUTH. WE'LL FIND MAYBE A LITTLE BIT OF A WEST WIND SWITCHING A LITTLE BIT LATER AS WELL. SO THERE IS THE SYSYSTEM. THERE IT IS CHURNING. WE'RE LOOKING THAT WIND STRUCTURE THERE A LITTLE BIT HIGH IN THE SKY. SO IT ACTUALLY THE SYSTEM GOES A LITTLE BIT FARTHER WEST OVER THE NEXT DAY AND THEN STARTS TO MEANDER AND MAKE ITS WAY BACK OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN U.S. SO THERE'S THAT ENERGY AND THERE'S THAT CHANCE THAT MAYBE WE GET A CLOUD OR TWO, AND THEN WE SPARK AN ISOLATED SHOWER IN NO WAY, NO HOW IS THIS ANY HEAVIER STORM RAIN EVENT OR TROPICAL SYSTEM COMING OUR WAY? IT IS NOTHING LIKE THAT. IT IS A SLIM CHANCE OF A SHOWER, MAYBE A STORM. I DON'T EVEN SEE IT AS HEAVY STORM ACTIVITY. TOMORROW MORNING, 60 TO 70S. AND THERE'S THAT SLIM CHANCE OF AN ISOLATED SHOWER. I DON'T SEE MUCH TO IT. TEMPERATURES TO ABOUT MID 80S ABOUT TODAY. GIVE OR TAKE ANOTHER DEGREE. AND MAYBE BRING IT UP ANOTHER NOTCH. SATURDAY. THAT'S WHERE WE GIVE IT ABOUT A 20% CHANCE OF A SHOWER. NOTHING EXTREMELY HEAVY. IT'S A LITTLE BIT HOTTER THOUGH, SO WE'RE STILL WITHOUT POWER. WE'RE STARTING TO GET A BIT UNCOMFORTABLE. IT SHOULD BE NEAR DANGER TERRITORY SYSTEMS STILL MEANDERING AROUND, AND AS WE GET INTO NEXT WEEK FOR SUNDAY INTO MONDAY, A CHANCE OF SOME WIDELY SCATTERED STORMS. BUT AGAIN, EFFECTIVELY QUIET WEATHER FOR US TO KIND OF GET AN EFFORT HERE TO CLEAN UP, GET THE POWER BACK ON LINE AND RESTORE THINGS AND GET OUR LIVES BACK TO WHERE WE'VE BEEN. QUICK, LOOK AT THE TROPICS. WE DO HAVE THIS TROPICAL DEPRESSION. IT SPINS OUT TO SEA. LOW CHANCES OF DEVELOPMENT THAT'S OFF THE EAST COAST. THIS SPINS OUT TO SEA. THERE IS NOTHING HEADED OUR WAY OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS AT LEAST WE'VE GOT NICE WEATHER, RELATIVELY NICE WEATHER. IT GETS A LITTLE BIT HOT MAYBE SATURDAY, BUT THAT'S AN AVERAGE HIGH 89. RAIN CHANCES DON'T GO
