down to the 53 Rost but there have been some interesting developments in this time period that have made me feel like I need to make a video about this as we wait for these cutdowns to become final um basically two things have happened the Browns have made some cuts that kind of indicate some things here and there and then also the Browns are Fielding cause for Tyler Huntley which we expected but possibly jamus Winston how do we get here let's talk about the cuts first that the Browns have made so as of recording this video zire Mitchell Payton is gone the Browns have informed DTR that he is made the roster Sam Kamara is gone seak eeka is gone which makes no shock um Chris Edmonds is gone all right um David Bell this report from J jemy Fowler says with the Browns making several receiver Cuts they plan to keep third-year date wide receiver David Bale on the initial 53 barring developments with rosters churning waivers and rookie Jamari thrash has impressed which to me indicates that thrash and Bell are pretty much going to make the roster um and that's no surprise which makes sense if you watched this channel you know that I've been talking about how David Bell is much better than what the internet gives him credit for and that David Bell is probably thought about much higher than what he is uh by Browns fans and I think for good reason David Bell had a strong end to last year and I know people are excited about what Michael Woods has done but you got to consider uh Michael Woods has done a good job separating he's done a good job making plays in the fourth quarter of preseason games he has not done anything ever against starters so we don't know if Michael Woods can separate better than David Bell we don't think that Michael Woods can separate better than David Bell um against once because we've seen David Bell get separation against ones I think a lot of the narrative on David Bell has been based on like his pre-draft report and not really based on what he's done as a Browns player over the last couple of years and it hasn't been overwhelming work if you're not looking for it you're not going to find it but the work is there and the work is pretty decent from David Bell not not like going to be a core member of your wide receiver core but he's going to be somebody who could hold down your fifth spot pretty well um and be on the field and be short-handed on third and fourth and short situations nahem Hines also uh confirmed now to be on the NFI list the non-f football injury pup list so he's going to miss the first four games this means the Browns are going to be looking for a running back whether on their roster or on the waiver wire to keep extra and I got him wonder how long do we wait for nem Hines man like I get waiting for Nick chub obviously but nahem Hines I think you can find somebody who could do what nem Hines was supposed to do on the waiver wire and you could let that go like I I'm not waiting four weeks to get the impact of nem Hines it's that feels ridiculous to me when I don't even think he would have been a lock to make the roster if the Browns um would have hadam in Camp this year uh James prochet is gone but the Browns do plan to bring him back per Source this is Jeremy fer again viable pump returner for them to call up from the practice squad on game day so James prochet likely going to be on the practice squad makes sense to me Mike Woods got cut I think they're going to bring him back on the practice squad Jaylen Darden cut doesn't seem like there's much interest for them to bring him back on the practice squad but the DT news right DTR has been informed that he is going to make the 53 man roster which means the Browns are in a bit of a spot here they can keep three quarterbacks which would not be the most efficient for roster construction um they can trade Tyler Huntley or trade jamus Winston whichever one they would have to backup I think obviously it would be jamus so you could cut Tyler trade jamus and make DTR your backup you can keep DTR have three quarterbacks on the roster the NFL PA changed the rule now this is a bit confusing the rule last year was that you can activate somebody from the practice squad and then put them on your active 53 man roster then once they're on the 53 man roster even if they're not the game day active right remember 48 of the 53 are active on game day so there's a chunk of players that are not active on game day but five players every game that aren't active on game day but are on the active 53 man roster the rule was last year that if you were inactive right you were not deemed as one of the game day 48 but on the 53 man roster and you're a quarterback and you lose two of your quarterbacks you could put that third quarterback in that was the emergency quarterback Rule now during the off season the rule was set to change from what it was last year and the change in the rule was that instead of that guy your emergency third stream quarterback having to be on your 53 man roster the rule Chang too that man only had to be on the practice squad and you can make your third quarterback your emergency quarterback be somebody who is on the practice squad so basically you can immediately Elevate somebody from practice squad to active game day at the quarterback position if you have two injuries that was the that was the change in the rule and you could do that a limited amount of times that was the change to the rule that's the emergency third quarterback rule change that they made this off season but then we get to a couple of days ago in the NFL PA vetoed that rule for numerous reasons mainly having to do with they want people to be playing and like make sure that people don't get stuck on practice squats right and they felt like that rule would get people stuck on practice squads so the rule changed and now it's back to what it was last year I think the Browns were thinking that the rule was going to stay which meant you can have Tyler Huntley on the practice squad but if it comes down to it you can play Tyler Huntley in the game if it if need be you can have him play because that was the emergency quarterback rule you didn't need to have that guy on the roster he could be on the practice squad Tyler Huntley was always going to be on the practice squad or at least Tyler Huntley or DTR depending on how the preseason went we're going to be on the practice squad DTR had a much better preseason so DTR makes the roster that is the change to the rule that happened now they have to roster three quarterbacks if they want to have three quarterbacks so they had a bit of a decision to make do you want to keep three quarterbacks do you want to do what you did last year two plus a practice squad guy and if you want to do what you did last year you got to trade jamus because you already made you made it clear that DTR is going to be here now here's where my opinion comes in I absolutely 100% don't think the Browns should trade jamus wion I get considering it unless somebody gives you a crazy offer for jamus Winston and when I say a crazy offer they either offering like a a player you can't say no to or like a third or a second round pick and maybe like a fifth of sweet in the pot like a three and a five or a two and a a two and a six or maybe a two and a five the year after somebody offers you that you just got to let jamus go but if nobody's offering you that then you stick with James like this is not a I trade him for a fifth round pick Josh dos situation you just should stick with jamus the reason I think this is the case is because I like DTR I think DTR has made a lot of progress from last year that being said I don't know if I would like to start DTR if like I had a choice not to I don't think DTR should be playing in regular season games sh like there's nothing wrong with letting him sit and fix some things for like two or three years look what it did for Jordan love I'm not saying DTR is Jordan love one's a first round pick one's a fifth round pick but the same principle applies let him develop he doesn't need to play he's on the roster to be developed and trading jamus would pretty much put him in the same position he was in last year and I just don't think that's a position he needs to be in I don't think that's a position the team needs to be in you brought in jamus Winston for a reason because you wanted to have a veteran backup just in case something went down I understand the DTR has impressed More Than People anticipated and the fact that we're having this conversation tells me that they w low on DTR coming in and DTR has brought them back up to where they were last year almost so good on on DTR that's great stuff that he has done still CU really think about the difference that we're at right now right they brought in jamus for $8 million to make sure he wasn't going to be the backup they brought in Tyler Huntley who is more than just a camp arm to come in and play Third quarterback so much so that Tyler Huntley actually started over DTR in the first preseason game after jamus Winston got off the field so de climb for has been real and I think that climb has been impressive but you know still pump the brakes a little bit I don't think we should do exactly what we did to him last year if it was early last year it's still early this year next year is the year for him to be the full time backup now they could try to trade Tyler Hunley I know they trying to trade Tyler Hunley I think there's two places you could trade them uh Los Angeles Chargers because Greg Roman is still there and I think he is a very effective backup in a Greg Roman system that does not require you to be the strongest passer of the football or the Baltimore Ravens might want him but I don't think the Baltimore Ravens GNA be willing to trade in division to get him so unless one of them two teams come knocking I don't know there's going to be much of a market for Tyler Huntley maybe you could fool somebody with some PFF grades because I know Tyler Huntley has had some pretty strong PFF grades but other than that I I think it's going to be tough to move him and we've seen other young quarterbacks move leik Willis I don't think the Market's really robust for Tyler Huntley and I don't think the Market's going to be robust for jamus Winston so I don't think you're going to get what you want from him if you wanted to move him because he's $8 million he's a very he's too good to really trade for and put on the bench if you move for him right like so I just think this thing is going to end up with DTR and jamus me on the team together but we'll see we'll see what happens as these cutdowns
