Welcome to Austin Texas and Daryl K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium where the horns are up and this burnt orange crowd is ready to help Texas hook them there's nothing quite like a great rivalry matchup in college football the bitterness the intensity the lifetime of memories that will come as a result of what we're about to see in this one as we'll see a team coming off a crucial by week the TCU horn frogs taking on another unit from the Big 12 the Texas longor for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis David Po and Jesse Palmer with me guys it's time to get it going the horn frogs will get us underway with the opening [Applause] kickoff and he takes this from inside the five good job by the coverage unit to stop the Return Man the Longhorns return team will have that offense backed up and the adrenaline is pumping on overdrive in games like this guys and it's crucial to get your emotions under control no doubt in rivalry games you've got to limit the mental errors and you've got to limit the penalties cuz those will kill you B and you got to come out under control it means so much we know that the fans are all talking about it but it's just football I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job game tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple just nothing doing on that last run and they knew coming into this one they were going to be challenged right this is one of the best defenses in all of college football for them to have any shot they're going to have to do a lot better running the football and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that and listen the defense knew coming into this one they were going to Target him early and often he is a weapon and there's no mystery where the quarterback's going to be looking on critical down and distances let's see how they're able to cover him throughout the rest of this game and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up halfway there on first down it's second and five wide receiver coming across in motion the give to the running back from the shotgun showed off just about every move in the book except the forward move stopped for a short game last time these two got together it was a tight one Jesse seems like every time these two teams play the game just feels faster right because it is a rivalry game there's just a greater sense of urgency when we see these teams match up the fans feel it they know it there's so much to they think about it all year long we can talk about the next game on the schedule they're always looking forward to this one in form a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best [Applause] [Music] work so the TCU horn frogs offense will try to get something started with their first possession when a guy gets off the ball as quickly as he does you know he's going to be breathing down your neck and you got to get rid of it Jesse this quarterback's good but he better have a clock one off in his head he knows he's not going to have a lot of time to get rid of the football that's a big matchup in this game well and that's what I love about this guy cuz he affects the quarterback whether he gets to him or not he knows he's there he's that kind of good coming off the edge let's see how this QB performs Under Pressure sometimes people say if you're good enough what's the big deal about going on the road well if you're not careful you might find out a spot like this one guys yeah no doubt about it this is a hostile environment and you know you're going to be getting the opponent's aame for this one they've circled this one all off seon so they better be ready to bring it today there and the hardest thing to do in college football is to go on the road everything about it changes and you want to shut this crowd up early you don't want to give them belief cuz if it starts to build throughout the game look out really nice job on third down by this offense this offense has struggled on third Downs throughout the season not even in the top 50 but you know what when you make it third and short you can when you have the Run pass option and you're not predictable you can be more successful so let's see if this offense can continue to put themselves in good positions that had to be be a coverage bus because there's no way one of the best receivers in the country was that wide open somebody on defense wasn't where they were supposed to be they had their eyes in the wrong place that should not happen ever this crowd full throat splitting the eard drums and letting him know it's going to be a long day and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming after the misfire now on second down to the there it's Hoover he makes the connection across the 25 he's got room he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense this crowd knows this defense needs them right now what a Nifty run there to pick up the first down and the horn frogs want to pick up the tempo this defense really is on their heels they've been on the field now for a long time on this drive and you're just getting pushed around at the point of attack up front like we saw in that last play and he's going to take it to the house touchdown horf frog I think what you love about that opening drive for the offense is the balance they were able to throw the football to set themselves up into position and then he carries it in for the TD you got to be able to keep defenses on their heels and they did a nice job of that on this opening drive Tex and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return here comes the Texas offense David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the punter out there this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a r best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them to football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense got three on first down it's second and [Applause] seven wide out in motion from the gun running back on the move they open the lane and he hit it a gain of five out to the 33 just a simple power play again not sexy run the ball up the middle physicality offensive line gets to assert themselves run block what they love to do this pays dividends down the road in the fourth quarter look to move the change they throw it complete to the left and he couldn't quite get to the marker and that's going to bring up a fourth down and the Longhorns will send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and returner will be dragged down TCU will send its offense back onto the field and David how they would love to stick it in the end zone what one more time after that last drive and once you get the defense on their heels and you back them off a little bit you get in a little bit of Rhythm it's really hard to stop Jesse and they're going to try to do it again right here and if you're this play caller you're Ling what's happening right now because everything you dialed up on that last Drive ended up working out you're just looking at your play sheet everything you're picking is working let's see if they can pull it off again here Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down caught near the sticks it's Baker gets it to the 42 yd line and that's a first down he might have expected to see this DB up in his receiver's kitchen instead nice little Zone and they pick up the first man offenses are getting so good re at seeing the holes in the zone knowing you're in zone knowing where to sit down how to make it an easy pitching catch for the quarterback and that's what it was on third sh their last completion has them set up second and short looking to throw it's it's Hoover and he's tackled but there's also a flag on the field let's see what the call is holding they say you could call holding on every play well they did on that one this offense has a second down play going to run it it's pain they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they need it and he's out to the 43 some third down conversions tougher than others this one a long one on third down from the 43 that's caught it's Baker he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down the horn frogs look to keep this drive humming he's got his man makes the grab they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down and now on second down for this offense second down they get him on the ground but it's a first down well the offense is in a really nice Rhythm right now it seems like no matter what they're dialing up they're getting positive yards and it just feels so good as a play caller when you know on first down you can get yards like that turning around and handing around yeah and on the other side you're scratching your head going what the heck can I do here you got to find something the defense has got to find a way to create some momentum whatever they're doing right now it's not working so you got to keep going through that play sheet and maybe find something a little bit different that can give this offense something to think about oh he drops the football he had him right down the gun of the field instead it'll be second down quarterback and running back set up in the pistol dropped after a pickup of four down to the 16 this crowd knows when to bring it on third down going up top he got it and he will score touchdown TCU TCU backed up in the shadow of their own goal post no problem when you start in the black Zone inside your own 20 coming out it's difficult you can give up a safety you get worried about that the offense puts a great drive together great job executing great job getting a touchdown almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown Tex and he'll bring it out of the end zone he gets a block got to little room and there he goes he won't get him it's a touchdown no guns no glory harded in the end zone didn't hesitate for a millisecond to take that thing back and boy it it pay off and this is why kickoff returns are so exciting there's so much space between you and the other team flying down the field the only time you're going to be provided that much space and you could tell he knew what to do with that space kicked on the Jets by [Music] FC TCU has it back in the horn frogs go on offense that last Drive really productive David wound up with a touchdown they'll try to do it again yeah so I don't expect this offense to change too much Reese they had a great Drive they got the touchdown everything working I would expect him to keep pushing this ball down here and just imagine if they could put another touchdown on the board right here they could capture so much momentum in this game with backto back TDS tackled at the 28 it's a pick up of five that's the end of the quarter and TCU has the lead and after that first quarter let's see if these guys can get back in the game in the [Applause] second here's this offense with a fresh set of downs takes a hand off it's Palmer he's got a yard out to the 30 yd line all right well the offense here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing at this point quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep pass the first down marker and still running and they make the tackle but the official has tossed his flag holding up holding penalties the ultimate Drive killer we'll see if it cost this offense here now on second down looking to throw it's Hoover coming after him got him downfield he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down and the horn frogs come to the line with a new set of downs this offense is clicking and clearly everything is working the offensive coordinator call good plays the quarterback and his is executing and this defense right now they have no answers the completion short of the sticks it's second down well the defense playing Zone coverage there they're taking away all of the QB's primary options down the field so he has to check it down to the drag running underneath to the ground to try to move the chain they convert on third down as he gets it to the 46 yd line and obviously this is one of the best offenses in the country and it's because they get first downs top 10 in the nation picking up first downs how nice is it to know you can turn around hand it off to that guy right there and let him go to work how about this backer in pass coverage and bringing the big hit stick with him too here comes the offense on second down he's looking to throw got it in the middle it's Baker good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch with sa first down they'll snap it from the 32 you know it's so important for offense is to want to keep third Downs management the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down wants to throw on second down got rid of it quickly but it's incomplete incomplete it doesn't matter who it is receivers in this case a tight end you get open you sometimes start to look at that green space in front of you and you just take your eye off the football ball lose your concentration a little bit miss that opportunity for possibly a big play on Fourth and seven analytics gut feeli or maybe just wanting to keep the offense out there they'll go for it he'll try to throw and pick up the first down finds his man they convert there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down this defense just can't get off the field the offense Unstoppable he un nashed a bullet on that pass and converted to Fourth Down got to love it some people get conservative some people don't want to mess up fourth down you could tell he wanted that window and he threw it through it as hard as he could throws a strike to the wide receiver gets the big fourth down conversion going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down now adjusting he saw just enough daylight to move the sticks and get it done with his legs the horn frogs are in the hurry up most offensive coordinators want to be really aggressive on second and short and I love the touchdown horn frog and they made it to the house where they found that six points waiting on him really nice job working the route and getting himself open he's able to locate the football snag it out of the air and this guy now has five receiving touchdowns on the year here he comes from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 so now the long horns take over and they'll send out the offense this is when the pressure can ramp up a little bit on an offense David when they start feeling the heat to answer a score and I think being down 14 you can kind of feel that way but dude if you put a good drive together this is seven-point game so Palmer no need to panic I was just going to say David I mean this thing can flip quick you go down score all of a sudden your defense gets a stop or who knows better yet gets a turnover this game is entirely different and he'll get it up to the 38 it'll be a first down and that's why play action is going to be big in this game you saw how it just freezed the second level of that defense just for a second and allowed the tight end to work himself vertically down the field but how about this guy after the catch right so hard to bring down what a weapon quick release by the QB he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see where the call is so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty after the shower of flags it's first and 15 for this offense wide receiver now comes in motion dropping back it's Manning setting up the screen not able to break the big one on that screen to the running back but he found enough and a solid pick up on first down running backs nowadays they are wi receiv I mean you got to feature them in the pass game why because you get matchups on linebackers like this great job getting the football near the line of scrimmage bam break a tackle make something happen get 10 plus yards they make the stop that there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all about the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty and here comes the offense on second down 42 spider 42 spider the give to the back gets it past the first down marker and still running defense caught out of position and they get him down finally at the 38 one of the things I love about these misdirection type plays is that you can pull offensive line and get extra bodies at the point of it and the defense picks up a sack getting the quarterback down at the 44 the first down sack pushes the ball back for this long second [Applause] down pulls and fires complete and there's going to be a loss on that play just run out of bounds and avoiding the contact this is a third and long he's looking downfield to throw and the defense will Crow the quarterback and down he goes at Midfield yeah and the defensive Lin you know third and long situations I'm rushing the quarterback you bring in the nickel a little bit more speed on the field and the defensive line gets home and gets the sack on third down as we reach the two-minute warning they'll need to try to get a stop to keep this thing from getting out of hand TCU will send its offense back onto the field they've been outstanding here in this first half might as well try for The Knockout Punch David yeah confidence has to be in an alltime highe great first half I'm going to get more Palmer I'm not scared with the lead when I got the football in yeah if it ain't broke don't fix it you can see the quarterback's body language he wants to go he wants to go Tempo he wants to take shots they're trying to light this scoreboard up they stop him almost immediately short short gain there and still a little ground cover to pick up the first that completion leaves us with second and medium feeling some heat and he can't escape and down he goes this is a good sign for this defense the rate they were going not touching the quarterback him already having two touchdown passes in the first half this was not going to be a fun football game to watch now they're turning the tide a little bit getting a little bit of pressure getting a sack finally run out of bounds but he has his offense rolling with a first down and the horn frog come to the line with a fresh set of downs back to throw it's Hoover third down a lot of times it comes down to not necessarily who's the most open who do you trust the most yeah it's not about the x's and the O's it's about the jimmies and the Joe's and when my guy's better than you and I get you matched up out wide and I know I trust you I'm finding you so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty offense get set for second down got it in the middle it's Baker good solid pick up there now they can start to smell it with a first down at the 31 a new set of downs after the completion they'll throw it on first down looking to the big tight end it's caught the tackle is made but he's got it first and goal from the six this offense has been a juggernaut and they have a chance to pad their total just before halftime he pushes it forward all the way to the 2yd line the horn frogs moving quickly to the line and they try the middle of this Stout defense and they rise to the challenge so loud as rattling your fillings on Third and goal touchdown TCU and they take it in for six more points they are seizing control and taking away hope as they push out the lead in this week eight Showdown and I love the physicality of this offense it's third and goal it's money time I've got to be more physical than you and that's exactly what this offense just did put the ball on the ground and put it in the end zone on the run from inside his zone five and they'll haul down the returner to start us on the next drive here come the horns they've got it again on offense so late in the half this is really an opportunity David maybe just swing the momentum in their favor dang right there's no time to be concerned if we're a little bit down listen I just think this is a point with the offense that they can prove like we're here we're going to create something now that we can build on in the second half coach said all week he wanted to be aggressive this is a great opportunity to show that right now at the end of the first half try and generate some momentum score some points before going into halftime there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a Little Closer looking to go up top on first down throws to the wide out wide open downfield this defense giving up ground as he's finally knocked down at the 26 here's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half looking to throw it's Manny getting some heat time running out and he goes down at the 34 and here on second down they'll send out the field goal unit to try to get three before the break heel goal is Goodell TR off through the lock the room as the field goal to close the half we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connor in our halftime update fellas what an environment there today all the animosity and Flatout hatred that comes with a good oldfashioned rivalry game on display in that first half and we'd be remiss if we didn't start this halftime report by acknowledging the sparkling play of this tight end the guy's like an aircraft carrier out there as a blocker and then when he releases and shows off that speed and Route running he's almost unguardable got to believe he won't be able to go anywhere in this second half without someone attached to his hip with that let's throw it back to the guys to see how this rivalry match up plays out that ball scoots through the back of the end zone TCU has it back in the horn frogs go on offense this offense has really been clicking in the game so far Jesse no doubt everything their play caller is dialing up these guys offensively have been able to go out and execute D yeah and it's just maintaining the lead keep doing what you've been doing you got a big lead let's just keep piling it on until they find an answer and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the first down fresh set of downs after the completion get trying to find his man on first down and his throw is incomplete and the horn frogs will hustle to the line looking downfield it's Hoover a strike downfield just gashing this defense a big Gainer to the 40 yd line you know tight end are such matchup nightmares and problems for defense they're too big for DBS to cover and they're too fast for linebackers to cover you saw it right there he's knocked down to the Back Field he'll lose a couple after losing a couple on that last play here second and 12 from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back and a good solid pick up there before the defense knocks him down and here comes play number six of the drive in the gun and looking to throw on third down incomplete he had to get rid of it before he wanted to the defense put the heat on this offense has already converted once on fourth down can they do it again makes the grab and it's plenty for the first down and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep him from getting the first down hey I got to be honest I don't know if the defense is expecting that type of throw on fourth down it looked like they were all huddled close to the line of scrimmage looking for something in the quick game but instead the quarterback takes a shot vertically down the field catch the defense off guard that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there long drive continues as the offense keeps working the ball down the field brought down to the ground but he has enough for the first down and this offense doing more of what they do this this is the number one offense in the country in first downs they find a way to continue to move the football run pass so much balance this offense is so good try to get the edge with a quick touch pass and look this guy has some serious moves and he tried all of them and still didn't get loose and he just continues to put up numbers and that number touchdown hard frogs and the punishment has been extended and the extra point splits the upright and they're up 35 to 10 about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown score TCU and he hauls it in and everybody's on the edge of their seats and they'll bring him down to get the offense started on the next drive and here comes the Texans offense back on the field man how comforting is it to know that even if your offense stalls out a little Jesse that field goal kicker can knock it in from a long way out well he's one of the best in the country re no doubt but this offense would like him and prefer for him to kick an extra point on this drive and to do that David they've got to have more Rhythm on offense yeah create some more Rhythm create some more explosive plays and maybe some more balance and listen it's nice to have that weapon and kick long field goals you kick too many field goals you don't get very many W's the RPO it's complete open space at the 25 and he's still on his feet but finally out of bounds after the big run for this hop back they were backed up and then suddenly they weren't they've got it first and 10 now inside the 50 defense showing plenty of pre- snap movement of their own on the ground it's maxter able to scr three yds out of that one one somehow it's second and seven they'll run this play from the pistol Easy Motion from the offense quick pass on the Fly motion and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no game land the first thing you have to do to make these plays successful offensively is I have to block the Ed I got to get my Speedster in space they didn't do a good job of getting that guy out there in space where he could really use his Jets nice job by the defense understanding it seeing it fires into a world of traffic and it's picked off and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception and the senior just took that one out of the air and sends it the other way well I can tell you I haven't played the position if you can't step into throws and you can't follow through it obviously affects your accuracy and I think the hit on the quarterback right there certainly contributed to that interception power football with the Run they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two the horn frogs headed quickly to the line they'll keep it on the ground tackled after picking up the first down and David how demoralizing does it have to be for a defense when you know they're going to run it everyone in the stadium knows they're going to run it and still you cannot stop it there's nothing more demoralizing as a defensive lineman because it just it ties you off it gets in your head you you know that guy's going to come off and smack you and you got to do something about it I think the defense may be time to start committing more guys to stopping that run not worrying about the pass as much and the horn frogs will snap it on First and 10 wide receiver shows motion touch pass on the Rock oh how did you make that move touchdown TCU and the beat down has ensued now they have extended this lead guys starting to put the hammer but sometimes a rivalry game can give you a little of extra [Applause] the defense will use a timeout as they regroup before this two-point conversion attempt okay ready spider ready back to throw it's Manning looking to the big tight end complete to the right and they'll do more than move the change they'll move that thing more than 30 ydd down the field before he's finally stopped the feel of this whole Drive changed on that last big play they've got it first and 10 outside the 30 just can't pull the trigger and the quarterback is sacked at the 41 now the offense has to overcome the negative play after the defense comes up with a sack can can looking to throw on second down and this defense has maxed out this pressure another sack and whatever they did on first and second down don't do that anymore third and very long coming up and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down and the Longhorns will call on their punt team and this is just one of those days man where everything has gone wrong right like they just haven't been in a rhythm they haven't they haven't got it going and never built the momentum this is this is one of those days you learn from you try to grow from a lot of things that we're going to show in the film room that people aren't going to like but hopefully you can learn from it and do better next [Applause] time you know what's great about rivalry games each side hates every wretched breath the other one sucks into their greedy lungs figuratively speaking of course and when you win oh oh is that sweet it's glorious to to be able to brag to be able to text message your buddies to be able to post stuff on social media it's a lot of fun I think fans like it more than anybody but it's something that you every year you have a couple games starred this was one of them Jesse they took care of business and now you move on to the next they really did and we saw some great individual efforts in this game by the winning team two so cool to see some of these players that have had terrific Collegiate careers make some of the biggest plays of their lives in this game in a rivalry game that just means so much this was a fun one to call and that's going to do it for us from here for Jesse Palmer David Pollock I'm
