welcome everyone to Rustin Louisiana home to the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech and the fans are in joia stadium ready to have a good time as we wind our way toward the end of another college football season one of the Grand Traditions is paying tribute and respect to those who have just poured their souls into the success of this program and honor of the seniors on senior day as we'll see a squad from Conference USA the Kenesaw State owls taking on a squad hoping to prevent another L this week the Louisiana Tech Bulldog for EA Sports college football I'm re St is joined here in the booth by David poock and Jesse Palmer and guys let's get this thing started he thought about bringing that out for a half second but he'll take a knee and they'll bring it to the 25 the owls offense takes the field here he comes and obviously defense is always going to be aware of a quarterback but boy he finds a way to put defenses on their heels all the time David I mean what can't he do he's got the weapons he's got the confidence he's got the experience Jesse kind of guys are so hard to defend you're right they better be able to find a way to get pressure on him cuz if they don't this is going to be a long day not much doing there he gets it to the 26 a gain of one line getting set on second [Applause] down they'll run it from the gun and how about that play by that giant that mountain of a man on the defensive front well they're trying to run the football there just nowhere to go they got dominated up front at the point of attacking movement on the offensive line that's going to be a false start and they'll walk it back so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty offense breaks the Huddle it's third [Applause] down looking downfield it's Bri setting up the screen they play that screen nicely he tried to find his way to the marker but it'll be fourth down kenas state will have to putt this one away gets the first one another day out of there and we saw a lot of him in that loss last week four times to be exact coverage team was down there to Coral him they made the Stop and they'll mark it at the 39 the Bulldogs offense will take the field for the first time and we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the football game they've got it first and 10 at the 50 used the play fake now to throw that's caught it's Edwards he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense fresh set of downs after the completion quick touch pass to the receiver the defense wouldn't let him lose there and it was a completion but they lost yardage really good job by the defense seeing it and going and getting it nice job understanding the touch pass it could happen those guys go in motion man I got to understand sa's got to see that start flying down getting ready to play that nice job by the defense being ready for that foot there's an example of what happens when a quarterback doesn't have a chance to set his feet the pressure just forced him to have to work off schedule a little bit and I think because of that wasn't able to be as accurate as he wanted to be defense man it helps you a lot when you can be a linebacker or a corner or safety anybody and you see the QB throw the football now I can break on the football right away and limit gains like right here on this play and the try is no good and the score will stay right where it is after that Miss guys we're about to see this Kennesaw State offense go back to work last time David it was one two three kick the last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on their heels the handoff as they run the counter play here and with that the Chain Gang will get busy first down Kenn State here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they'll leave leave it with the lone back he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see what the call is illegal the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty here comes the offense on first down they'll test the right side running with power they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down kept it on the ground last time let's see if they go back to it on second down to the air it's Bryson On The Run fires down field makes the grab he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down this kenesa state offense is on the Move wants to throw on first down off the play fake fires toward the end zone touchdown Kenna State and they score first and what a nice start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in a rhythm nice start they'll try to attack one more on their score and the extra point is good and it's seven nothing a very efficient five play scoring drive and they covered the final 29 yds with that touchdown pass here he comes from inside his own five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 here comes the Louisiana Tech offense back onto the field you want to talk about taking the wind out of your sails Drive the ball down the field and miss the field goal David you know what don't leave it up the kickers execute better offensively I think you move the ball nice you got to keep that in mind but Palmer I think you got to stay aggressive and don't settle for field goals yeah because you got to know and the heat will get home and the quarterback goes down at the 17 this defense has kept them backed up now one more stop and they can get off the field on Third and long get it out on the screen defense was not fooled by that screen to the back and they'll stop him short of the marker it'll be Fourth Down Louisiana Tech will have to punt gets it out of the air for the first time today and didn't see much of him that loss A Week Ago called on just one once and the coverage team able to wrestle him down and they'll get off one more play before the end of the quarter they're trying to find some room off right tackle and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one at the end of the quarter it's Kennesaw State on top and we've come to the end of the first as we take a moment to check out the stats so far lots of time left and we're ready to get back to it and open the second period we'll start the quarter offense about to snap it on second down they'll go right back to [Applause] him they'll make the stop at the 42 it's a pick up of five and that will be enough for a first down well there we go we finally see some life in this offense running the football nice game to pick up the first down got to get more of that going moving forward cuz they have not run it one not much working there it'll be second and nine the big defensive tackles in the middle they're not always the best pass rushers but they are strong and I say Country Strong they put their hands on you you feel it they lock people out on the line of scrimmage they create separation they wrap running backs up and usually they don't get out of the midst of those big boys on the move is the 30 and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play on that one they decide to attack the left outside on the ground and you see the speed by the ball carrier there he's picking up a huge chunk of yards I can't imagine any reason they wouldn't just run that play again if if it ain't broke don't fix so why not just go back to the well one more time man offenses are getting really creative in the way they run their counter passs they pull different guys they pull a guard they pull a tackle they pull a guard and a tackle so really keeping the defenses off balance you can't just key on wherever the tight end is you got to realize they can show you one thing come back with that pass is incomplete and they might be fortunate it wasn't knock free for a fumble it'll be third down they'd love to pick up this third down and get a fresh set with first and goal to throw it's Bryson can't make the grab as he was looking for his man right at the goal line and they'll send out the kicker to try a field [Applause] goal he splits to the uprights and puts three on the board and they'll push that lead out a little further so after the last Drive ended with a field goal the kickoff team out there to send it away not going to risk a turn here he'll make the fair catch Louisiana Tech has it back and the offense comes out ready to go to work they'll throw it on first down they are trailing by 10 here Jesse but this is the type of team that seems comfortable in an offensive shootout you got to hold serve at this point right you got to drive the field put some more points up on the board yeah they just scored you can answer that now and keep this thing close and I think you're used to that as offense like football is so fastpaced now and you score so quickly it's not that big of a deal to get down 10 you keep being you keep being aggressive got his man on the right I coach said don't never go broke taking a profit take what's there take the positive yards and never conver on second down he'll let it fly caught close to the marker it's Edwards and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep him from getting the first down finally this off starting to show a little juice they've got a first and 10 and the runner is down and so is a flag holding that penalty moves the ball back 10 yards will replay the down and the Bulldogs are rolling down the field takes a snap lost to throw tosses it incomplete sometimes a quarterback just needs to turn the ball loose it was like he tried to guide that one in and it disrupted the timing yeah and and just like in basketball when when you shoot a shot you you start trying to aim and you really really miss you know quarterbacks they got to quickly be able to recognize do I need to fire it do I I need to put a little air underneath it and and it's just a tough thing for a quarterback to be able to do but over time you see they have less and less mishaps like that caught over the middle it's Crawford oh and the defense in Chase mode and they finally get him down at the 35 the Bulldogs have it with a first and 10 used the play fake now to throw it's complete gets out of bounds after the big play and they'll be set up in business with a first and goal this offensive scoring position with a fresh set of downs they'll keep it on the ground for first and goal they get him down after a four yd gain to the six second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning we've made our way to the two-minute warning and now they'll try to at least cut a little something off of this lead before the break after getting nothing it's second and goal from the six and it'll be incomplete this is some physical pass defense I love the coverage on defense in the Red Zone everyone's got their eyes on the quarterback and they're flying to the football and we saw that there on the incompletion he's got it he gets it in touchdown Louisiana T and I tell you what that passing touchdown man that should spot this whole team like The Comeback is more than on now like they got the touchdown they cut into the lead you want to get a stop and go into the half get all the juices all the excitement and be like listen the passing game's rolling we got this The Comebacks in full [Applause] effect didn't find crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 guys we'll get another look at this Kennesaw State offense they had to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they'd love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down to execution too did a nice job out in the field stalled a little bit once they got down to the goal line so they just need to be a little bit more crisp here goal yeah and listen I I think the first part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down down there focus on execution and getting six points that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't not free for a fumble on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air got his man good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch oh man did he turned that one loose and fired it into the teeth of the zone and you know as a quarterback when you're throwing it to the perimeter of the field on these curl routes you've got to have some heat you got to have arm talent to get that ball out quickly into the hands of your receiver before all those Defenders can get to it man this QB's got a C they're going to throw it again grabbed over the middle it's Kent I think that time offensively were just trying to take what the defense is giving you right they're playing Zone coverage you got your big fell just working right over the ball it's an easy pitch and catch just take the profit let's keep going and here's a fumble way behind the line and the defense got it and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own first down here for the offense wasting no time throwing on this drive makes a catch with Defenders everywhere and now the defense backed up with a first and goal from the five yd line first and goal [Applause] they'll try to get it in with the Run they get him on the ground at the three yd line but this defense is taking some punches now the offense tries to punch it in on second and [Applause] goal and that's going to fall to the ground incomplete that was a physical match up there third down coming trying to pick up a first down 42 SP wants to throw for it on Third and goal touchdown Louisiana Tech and they made it to the house where they found that six points waiting on them and I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game and tell you what keep that passing game up can keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up numbers he'll bring it back from inside as five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 guys we're about to see this Kena State offense go back to work looking for a man it's Bryson and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play yeah and you see running backs in today's football they play wide receiver basically for you but you got to find a guy that you can throw it to and you know he's going to catch the ball and he can't escape and down he go they'll hurry to the line here to try to get off that third down [Applause] play from the gun wants to pass the pass fall balls incomplete and that's how we'll finish this half we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connor in our halftime update gentlemen what else is new a really rockus environment there in Rustin and I get it a lot of coaches will say the difference between winning and losing comes down to stopping big plays and getting big plays but if you ask me it's more about how good you are on third down and how efficient you are in keeping drives alive those two stats can help you break the will of even the best defenses and help you come out on top and with that let's send it back to the guys at the Joe in Lincoln Parish all right Kevin about ready to start the second half here kickoff and kickoff return teams on the field and we are just about ready to go in the second half and he takes this from inside the five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 here comes the Louisiana Tech offense back onto the field they got plenty done through the air in the first half and we'll see if they even need to look for balance as we start the third quarter well and I and I think defensively you understand like the running game isn't a big part of the plan I wonder how they adjust and play more coverage to this pass happy offense yeah so you're going to have to be ready if you're a quarterback then you're probably going to see some different coverages you might see a little bit more Blitz in this second half half as well so you have to know where your answers are off the play fake on first down to throw quickly out to the tight end good solid tackle that's why they got to keep running the football man because play action is going to be a big part of this game plan you've got to get this tight end over the middle of the field vertically and give him an opportunity because you just saw how dangerous he is after the catch not a lot of room but found his way ahead for two out to the 26 they'll run for it on third and short they finally get him on the ground but the big running play moves to change for the first down Louisiana Tech back to the line with a fresh set of downs they'll go to the ground he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see which way that's going to [Applause] go amazing how many times an offensive holding penalty will stall a drive we'll see if the offense can overcome it looking for a productive play on first down used the play fake now to throw fires to the right nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away what a great job defending the comeback there by the defender right he was able to squat transition break on the ball and knock it down could not have played that [Applause] better throws to the back grabbed in the middle it's crossby they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks a third and long coming up here from the gun wants to pass time to take a shot and he intercepts it and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception this guy is so comfortable in zone coverage they're playing cover two and he's just back back there roaming around in the middle of the field he's so confident in his speed to break on the ball as soon as he saw where the oh the ball squirts out defense just cradling that fumble and securing it they make the tackle after the turnover but hang on just a second there's a flag on the field let's see if it stands so the offense for than happy with result of the play will decline the penalty offense working from the pistol the give to the tail back still on his feet at the 45 he Steeps out of bounds after a huge play but hang on just a second defense might get bailed out here by a flag they say you on every play well they did on that one offense getting set for first down he leaves it with his back a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long saw on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line to hav't been physical INE that's your goal separate man from ball try to get your shoulder in there on the catch point and really make him something to think about physically jar that football and knock it out nice job by the defender and he broke one tackle on the way to a solid pick up there Louisiana Tech will have to punt this will be the second time they've had blocked the heat got to him stopped at the 33 and special team special team special Team sets up a golden opportunity guys we'll get another look at this Kennesaw State offense comes out throwing on first down finds the tight end how about this backer in pass coverage and bringing the big hit stick with him two and now on second down for this offense they'll go to the [Applause] counter and they drag him down but not before he picks up the first down and a great job by the offensive line if you're going to run the ball right at the middle you better control the line of scrimmage you can see the center the guard The Tackle doing a good job on their guys just enough where this running back can get into space and make the big game to soft spot in the middle that completion will take it close to the 5 yd line they'll mark it at the six going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down and the defense holds firm no pick up at all on that play not a lot of ground to cover and not much to defend him big third down in the Red Zone he'll try to get it through the air got it and he'll step out of bounds just short of the goal line almost a touchdown but not in there yet Tena state has a chance now on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and he is stopped not getting close to the end zone line of scrimmage still at the three got nothing last time now second and goal from the three tries again to get it in he pushes it forward all the way to the 2yd line listen the offensive coordinator's best friend in the red zone is the running game make guys commit near the line of scrimage so I and throw behind this defense is you don't give a hoop Ken state does Touchdown ow and with that one they jump on top here in the second half and I love the physicality of this offense it's third and goal it's money time I've got to be more physical than you and that's exactly what this offense just did put the ball on the ground and put it in the end zone and the extra point puts them up by a field goal they didn't have to cover a ton of ground moving at 33 yards and finish to deal with the short touchdown run from the two no return coming he'll call for the fair catch they'll put this one in play first snap of the drive from the 25 they'll give it on the counter Works ahead for a couple they'll stop him at the 27 and the defense doing a great job committing to the Run commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first there to make the tackle and with that we'll head to the fourth quarter at the end of the quarter it's Kennesaw State on top and as we switch ends of the field let's take a quick look at the national rankings when you're dealing with a deficit like this it's all about somebody stepping up to make a play and you might as well start here in the fourth quarter finally some signs of life from this offense which has done nothing in the second half it's first and 10 can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again he let that thing fly quickly but he couldn't make the connection all right that's a good result for the defense we knew coming into this year they wanted to really improve their pass defense and their secondary and coverage nice job there on Third and long trying to convert through the air H as he throws and they can't make the connection on third down but hold everything there is a flag let's see what that's about this now that last play turned out they'll decline the penalty Louisiana Tech will have to punt and don't forget I'm sure he hasn't he had one blocked [Applause] earlier and the returner is stopped they'll run this play from the pistol he'll try to pop the draw they'll Mark him down at the 40 after ripping off 10 and this guy really has been a Workhorse today he's made plays when his offense has needed them the most he's a guy who's reliable they know they can turn around give him the football and he'll go make things work out they're going to need him to finish this game he has to continue playing well after that big run there they'll snap it from the 47 on first down [Applause] here's the hand [Applause] off at the 35 he's got Ru hit the gas kid wide open the head touchdown ows he shed tackles like a snake getting rid of his skin and to have a rushing touchdown of that type of yardage you've got to be able to make something Miss it's one thing to get into the second level but can you make that last Defender Miss and you saw it on that play once he was in the clear with his speed he was gone he'll start the return inside his five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Louisiana Tech has it back in the offense comes out ready to go to work looking for room it's Crosby and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage they got nothing on the last play at second and 10 he's looking to throw and that's going to be incomplete a lot of contact on the play but no Flags it'll be third down if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum looking downfield it's Turner and he was hit just as he was releasing the pass and it falls to the ground incomplete and now such a tough situation late in this game you're trailing but now it's fourth in Long like it's one thing if it's Fourth and short this makes it even more difficult you got to have something died up you feel really great about Louisiana Tech will have to punt and don't forget he did have one blocked [Applause] earlier he gets a block and the punt team gets down there and gets the Return Man On The Ground guys we're about to see this Kennesaw State offense go back to work keeping it on the ground with the single B and he was able to get away from one tackle but plenty of help was on the way decent pick up on that play coming up on second down as they try to hold this lead running it to the right he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of downs it's a point in the game I think as a coaching staff where you really really challenge your offensive line to go win the football game right we've got to lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stadium knows that's what's going to happen can we run the ball down their throats and impose our will that's what this offense right now is trying to do and back to the air on second down the offense coughs it up and they were on the move that ball carrier is very lucky that easily could have ended up in the hands of the def you have got to do a better job of ball support [Music] EAS on third down going up top and the sophomore has to get that one out in front of his receiver so on fourth down here comes the field goal kicker in a huge spot and the kicker delivers the three to salvage that drive and now the leaves extended a little far they'll kick it away after putting up a field goal on that last Drive you'll call for the fair catch here here comes the Louisiana Tech offense back onto the field the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no ribon in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum they pick up half of it it'll be second and five and the Bulldogs come to the line in the hurry up from the shotgun the inside GE and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground lining up to convert third down dropping back it's [Applause] Turner and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up down by multiple possessions they can't come up empty on this drive in the fourth quarter they'll go for it on fourth down the completion well past the sticks and they finally get him to the ground an easy conversion for this offense defense not exactly the perfect fourth down call there Louisiana Tech is really moving the football fires into the end zone and he's got it touchdown Bulldog they got the score they needed but this isn't over no don't call it a come back yet the first part step one accomplished this offense obviously still has work to do but the defense has to go out get a stop and get him the ball back 21 on the move from inside is five and the return man showing great vision to be able to find some space and put his team in much better field position guys we'll get another look at this kenesa state offense Jesse they had to kick a field goal the last time they had it yeah and often times early in games you're just trying to find your Rhythm some things work some don't on that first drive Dave it be interesting to see what happens here in the second Drive yeah you got to feel for the defense now you understand what they're trying to do what their game plan is now you get to go into phase two of your game plan we have arrived at the two-minute warning a one possession game as this offense tries to hold on give as they work on that clock they'll pick up four second and Six coming defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense they're in control the clock is their friend you'd have to expecting another run here on second and six and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense the marker is at the 35 and they need to get it there to convert third down and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down kenas state will have to putt this one away well they've done a lot of really nice things on the road in this game so far and that's why they have the lead but after that incompletion now you can sense the momentum now switching back to the home team late in this game Louisiana Tech has it back and the offense comes out ready to go go to work the throw to the outside is complete that's about as close as you can get to that marker and it will be second and just a few breaths away from the first down back to throw it's [Applause] Turner and he was hit just as he released it and it falls to the turf this really has been a Master Class by the quarterback with decisionmaking right we've already seen him throw multiple touchdown passes in the game he's under OD when to take his shots and when to throw it away when things aren't there like trying to get everybody set with the clock still [Applause] running to the air on first down and this will be incomplete a big hit there for his second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again the aerial assault continues and his throw is incomplete third and long defense knows the pass is coming so they're going to have guys with their eyes on the QV but they are going to try to get to him with pressure pinning their ears back if you're on offense you might be thinking Blitz here you better get rid of this one quick he's going up top here late in the game and the pass hit picked off and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own aggressive versus Reckless it's such a fine line when you're trailing and you need to make plays late in the game the off defense was Reckless turn the football over and this one doesn't look great and the quarterback takes a knee guys I'm going to tell you I just never saw this team falling into a three-game losing streak they are wounded reeling and they've had their confidence Shak it's been ugly there's no other way to spin it this is very UNG good not good um got to find some way to get this turned around got to make more plays um you know this is something that's frustrating but not let it Define your Dynasty right fix it get it back together try to pull some wins try to figure this thing out it's frustrating too David because this is a team that has a lot of talent I think part of the problem these last couple of games now has been lack of effort so if you're on the coaching staff maybe you're ready to start giving new guys an opportunity to see the field and just see what they can do
