College Football 25 🏈 : USF Bulls at Florida Atlantic Owls

spectacular ocean views not far away from the home of the Florida Atlantic Al FAU stadium in boa Raton Florida where they hope this game lives up to the setting today a sunshine state showdown in Florida they believe their level of football is just a cutab as we'll see a squad from the AAC the south Florida Bulls squaring off with another team from the AAC the Florida Atlantic owl for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer time to get this game started [Applause] the Bulls will put tow weather to crank us [Applause] up and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line so Ford Atlantic's offense will have the first possession of the game and here he is guys anytime he takes the field he is in complete control of this offense and David he gives defensive of coordinators nightmares because of his ability they're going to have a hard time slowing him down no he just doesn't have those weaknesses those flaws the whole Playbook available and he is a d not much doing there he gets it to the 26 a gain of one didn't get much on first down it's second and nine fast motion from the offense dropping back it's fer quick strike complete that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there third down and they'll need five to keep this opening drive moving now they'll run the draw they'll keep this drive moving by picking up the first down they have it at the 36 and I think on that last run play on third down here early in the game they're making a statement that we believe we're the more physical team and we're going to run the football even if you know it's and the ball comes out what a disastrous play he picks it up still on his feet it's so hard to force fumbles and when you do you so badly want to get them you're crawling you're doing whatever you can to get there as a Defender but the offense fortunate enough to cover it back up from the gun give on the inside they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and whatever they did on first and second down don't do that anymore third and very long coming up pockets starts to collapse caught in the back field it's Johnson and he never had a chance as soon as he caught it the defense was right there for Atlantic will send the punt unit onto the field makes a move and the returner goes down the Bulls offense will try to get something started with their first possession this match up on the outside Jesse a big play weapon for the offense a shut down corner for the KN they say big time players make big plays in big games so who gets the best of this match up that's going to determine the game yeah I mean such a fun chess match how much are they on each other during the game the head-to-head matchup that everybody wants to see and he finds Some solid space makes a nice game before the defense is able to stop him eight- yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and short going downfield for the big play and he pulls it in inside the 15y Line That's What's So Scary About This offense they've got guys in the perimeter that can change the game in one single play and you saw it right there too much speed on the perimeter to create that explosive play from the 14 yd line it's first and 10 on the run it's right relying on that running game inside the red zone pick up three to the 11 after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven to give to the backat they'll finally get him stopped at the one yd line what a run there and the Bulls are rolling down the field trying to punch it in and he takes it to the house touchdown South Florida the offense goes as he goes so really no surprise on the opening drive they keep feeding him the football he showed you all of his ability on that [Music] [Music] TD lining up to tack one more onto that lead exra point and the extra point is good and it's seven nothing a very efficient five play scoring drive and they capped it off with a one yd [Applause] punt he'll bring it back from inside to spot and the returner will be brought down the for Atlantic offense will return to the field that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistake and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them halfway there on first down it's second and five looking for a man it's fer excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away you've got a third and manageable backed up in your own end but convert here and you get some momentum from the gun wants to pass caught near the sideline it's more he steps out of bounds but he's got enough for a first down the owls come to the line with a new set of downs the give to the lone running back Forge is ahead picks up about three to the 29 got three on first down it's second and [Music] seven out of the gun the inside hand off to the running back cross the 30 to the 35 and that's a gain of six offensive linemen love to run the power why you run power you run power then you can play action you don't want that defense to be sitting there saying it's a pass it's a pass having a pass block every play you got to keep defenses off bals he's got enough to move the chains and they'll spot it at the 47 we've come to the end of the quarter and USF is on top guys let's have a look at the stats as we played one [Music] period now to see if these guys can get back in the game as we open the second quarter the offense will put it in play from the 47 on First and 10 Red Pass it's complete and the defense coming with bad intentions they knock him down for a loss Lo lost one on that last one it's second and 11 the give from the gun really nice stop there from this senior leader third down has been right in the Wheelhouse on this drive they've already converted a couple of times but they need the full 10 yards now back to pass it's fer feeling some heat and there was nowhere to go for this quarterback and down he goes this defense has the ability to get pressure on the QB from The Edge and that don't necessarily mean from defensive ends but from the outside linebackers these guys get in their Sprinter stances and they come off the ball that outside linebacker showed you his speed right there for Atlantic will have to send out the punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away signals for the fair Catch and that's where they'll put it in play just outside the 20 South Florida has it back and the Bulls offense will return to the field Jesse a very productive Drive last time wound up with a touchdown yeah mixing and matching play calling really well nice balance on that last one Dave we'll see what they can do here in this next Drive yeah and I don't expect anything different when you put together a drive like that I would do more of the same keep the pace keep it going and he's down at the 41 that's a first down and that is exactly what why you stick to running the football haven't had a lot of success but boom you pop on right that's what you got to do you got you cannot become onedimensional and just throw the football every down love the offense sticking to the Run nice job getting the first down could fight his way out of his grab and just a great job by the defense being Stout right that's your job be Stout up front stuff in the Run play make them get in more passing situations but do not let them run the football that's 101 stop the run folks that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't KN Le for a fumble he didn't have a whole lot of time to get rid of that one the defense was all over him right after the snap no wonder that thing fell incomplete fires to the wide out another incompletion on third down o that's one of those where you're breathing a big side of relief that ball could have been intercepted and worse could have been intercepted and house but offense caught a little bit of a break nice play by the defense but the offense glad to putt in this situation if they want to play for Atlantic has the ball back in the offense will try to put together a drive David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the punter out there this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a rhythm best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them the football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense give to the running back runs through a tackle really good job to pick up a chunk of yardage and get it out to the 39 yd line here comes the offense on first down they'll give it to him again and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 looking to throw it's fer he's right on Target and he'll run across the sidelines after the good game well that was a weird one because I think running back screen was call but the quarterback just saw an open receiver downfield and said to himself hey I got an open guy he's going to take it nice job to pick up the first down and they'll spot it at the 42 and the owls are on the move wide out in motion we reached the two-minute warning and we have ourselves a ball game and they have a chance to take the lead here before the half finally this offense starting to shake the cobwebs and get things moving it's first and 10 he's got it they've got it inside the 30 they'll mark it at the 28 it's first down for Atlantic will go to work with a fresh set of downs and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again he'll just keep slinging it catch in the middle it's moley he'll be stopped just short of the end zone but they'll have it first and goal on the doorstep of cashing it in for the offense and he'll finish the run in the end zone touchdown out and I love that this offense stuck to it stuck to the Run game didn't Panic they got down but they answered the Bell right before the half and they got this thing right where they wanted now they can tie this football game and hopefully go into the half with a lot of [Music] momentum now they'll line up for what they hope is [Applause] automatic right down the boulevard a 69 yd touchdown drive it was closed out by the short yardage touchdown all tied up from just about set to kick it [Applause] away here's the return from inside is 10 find's just enough space to cross the 25 let's mark it at the 27 yd Line south Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field they just didn't quite find the Rhythm on that last Drive Jesse they had to punt it I think they got to be more physical David I think up front they got to do a better job getting blocks and establishing this running game and how easy does football become if you're the more physical team if you can threaten the run and then then run play action and opens up the whole offense at your disposal and the explosive play and they're on the move all the way to the 44 and what a massive play for the offense not only getting the football across the 50 but they've now put themselves in position to steal a few more points here before the half Brown will throw it keeps some play going they're bringing heat but now he's swallowed up and he'll be knocked down for a loss on the trick play second down now after the sack he's looking to to throw unloads to the wide out got his man downfield and the tackle was made but not before that completion gets him 30 plus I know it's early in the game but defensively after that play you know you have to tackle the catch when this guy gets the ball in his hands he is so dangerous after the fact so it's okay for him to make catches just got to get him to the ground quickly they've got this defense reeling after that last play now it's first and 10 inside the 15 fires into the end zone and he's got it touchdown USF touchdown us and I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game and I tell you what keep that passing game up you can keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up numbers [Music] they'll try to add another to their lead and the pat gives him a 14-7 lead quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they top it off with the 14 yd pass for the touchdown bringing it back stopped at the 17 and he's probably second guessing that return Florida Atlantic takes over again and the owls offense will go back to work so late in the half this is really an opportunity David maybe to swing the momentum in their favor dang right there's no time to be conservative we're a little bit down listen I just think this is a point with the offense they can prove like we're here we're going to create something now that we can build on in the second half coach said all week he wanted to be aggressive this is a great opportunity to show that right now at the end of the first half try and generate some momentum score some points before going into halftime there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer on Third and long trying to have a big completion here and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knock the ball to the ground fourth down coming up Florida Atlantic decides to punt it [Applause] away and he make the stop and that is exactly what you want out of your punt cover unit South Florida has him back and the Bulls offense will return to the field that last Drive really productive David wound up with a touchdown they'll try to do it again yeah so I don't expect this offense to change too much Reese they had a great Drive they got the touchdown everything working I would expect them to keep pushing this ball downhill and just imagine if they could put another touchdown on the board right here they could capture so much momentum in this game with back to- back TDS Brown wants to pass throws toward the end zone he makes a grab and he was straining for the goal line but the defense stopped him short the offense quickly calls timeout to stop the clock South Florida the Bulls will try to punch it in on first and goal used the play fake now to throw hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver that's a phenomenal job getting after the quarterback and getting a hit on him to affect his accuracy because if they didn't get the pressure that was going to be a touchdown he had a guy wide open in the Ed Zone that was a golden opportunity but and he takes it in for the score touchdown blls touchdown wow offense they have a lot of faith in this running back knowing if they get down into this area of the field he can get it done and he can answer the Bell two rushing touchdowns already for this [Music] offense lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point puts them on top 21 to7 quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they capped it off with a one yd Pune [Applause] [Music] at let's see what he can do with the return really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before halftime they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one One Snap coming before they head to the locker room to the ground with the back and after that short game they'll head to the locker room for halftime we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connor in our halftime update gentlemen looks like we've got a great atmosphere today in boa Ron and it's been said football is a game of inches and guess what based on the comparison between third down conversion rate today and the average yard per play how can you argue that I mean the low-lying fruit is to look at some of the explosive plays we've seen in panic but really this game is going to come down to which team is more efficient when they have the ball and how they play when it matters most for Atlantic will try to kick it deep and break the seal on this second half he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 couldn't find a way to create that broken Fall South Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field they had this lead to start the third quarter because of the passing game didn't get a lot done on the ground they didn't but the quarterback is in a rhythm that was obvious in the first half and so this first drive you want to continue that you want to see good decision making you want to see him playing on time and as always delivering the football with I I mean I don't know how I don't give him the football it's the reason I built the lead he's the guy that I can trust this offense has brooken on him so I expect more of the same here in the second half balls at the 29 defense can taste getting off the field it's third and long brown will throw it looking to the big tight end how about getting the foot down on that throw for the big completion well offensive coordinators put in countless hours every week trying to formate and use different Personnel groupings and shifts and motions to give their offense a success on third down you can tell in this game this offensive coordinator he has put in the work this way looking for room it's right we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long you saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line they haven't been physical enough the give to the back what a good run there he has enough for the first down in halim in this locker room there's a lot of positive things to talk about you got the lead but you know what else will be positive Palmer get the running game going early in this second half you're absolutely right here and I think this coaching staff is going to try to put this game on the offensive line a little bit let these guys take this thing over be physical and push this defense around brings him down at the 27 yd line it's a pick up of 15 and a first down for this offense and the Bulls come to the line with a fresh set of downs now he's looking to throw it fires to the wide out it's caught he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down great job by the QB and the wide receiver understanding what they had to do to get a first down I don't care about the completion I don't care about getting a certain amount of yards I got to get that first down so I get another set of downs so we can keep this drive alive from the Red Zone looking for a receiver and they will score touchdown bals offense gets the job done again you want to build that cushion as we get deeper into the second half man it makes it easy doesn't he and you start getting up by a couple possessions making the offense very predictable on the other side great job by the offense extending their [Music] lead ready to try the point after is on for the extra point and the extra point is true and the lead balloons to 21 so a well executed 8pl 75 yd drive and they top it off with a 14 y pass for the touchdown and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 the Ford Atlantic offense will return to the field they're down by 21 points but you got a touchdown here and you do at least apply a little game pressure Jesse it's true I think for them to get back in this one at this point now they need the quarterback to play his best football he's going to have to be good really pre- snap David making sure they're in the right looks and he's got to be really good with his decision making he's got to be doubt in because defensively you're giving up points so it's not like you have the luxury of your defense playing great the offense is going to have to score and score pretty dang quickly and it'll be incomplete this is some physical pass defense third down and this offense is already in a world of trouble they could really use the conversion not to mention multiple scores missed his receiver there it's incomplete well after struggling so much in the first first half you thought they would have made some adjustments here at halftime to see if they can open up this passing game but early on in the second half they're just not really able to get that done incompletion on third down in your own end you're expecting them to punt tries to find a little more Running Room on that return but he'll be stopped at the 36 South Florida has it back and the Bulls offense will return to the field there have been few obstacles for this offense as they are starting to pull away here in the second half Jesse and this has been a dream game for this play caller too right it's like anything that he's calling is working flawlessly yeah it's fun to be the offensive coordinator but not the defensive coordinator they have had no answers it's been an absolutely Solve the Riddle of this offense oh he's going to try to get it all here and EB making a huge play knocking it away down field ball's still at the 45 after the incompletion they'll snap it second and 10 they'll leave it with him keeps the legs moving he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple great play by the defense there listen they got to do more of this running backs obviously had a lot of success they got to continue to stop this run game be physical and not let this guy beat him they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on Third and long he has to throw for it fires it down the scene and the pass is complete he's got it at the 20 well how about the offense setting that play up we've seen earlier in the game a couple shorter throws just trying to suck those safeties closer to the line of scrimmage anticipating that they would get an opportunity to take a shot they called the perfect play at the perfect time right there the bulls look to keep this drive humming from the gun the running back looking for room he'll be down at the four yd line after that terrific run another good run man he has been picking up yards in bunches today Jesse showing off all the skills and he showing no signs of slowing down David this guy just gets better as the game goes on he is a beast and the Bulls trying to pay off the threat on first and goal Ed the play fake now to throw The Freshman able to get home with the sack I think defenses sometimes get frustrated and you want to get Blitz happy and cuz you give up yards in this day and age you're going to give up yards who cares this is the area we got to Bow up nice job on first down stopping them a couple more Downs here to stay aggressive looking to the end zone touchdown South Florida and the route is on one of the areas they really focused on with this re in the offse was we need you to make more plays for us in the end zone when we're taking shots we need to be able to step up and make tough catches and David what a grab right there and I think a lot of that has to do with trusting your guy knowing where he's going to be knowing when he's going to sit down when he's not so being on the same page and then having a guy that can go get it just when the ball is near him he's going to make the play just like he did right there for six points and the extra point sails through and they have a 357 lead lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive and they desperately wanted to attempt a return but decided not to instead they'll take the touch back FL Atlantic has the ball back and the offense will try to put together a drive boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here B yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep and the defense snows him under after a very short game as they get [Applause] we've come to the end of the quarter and USF is on top and they are starting to pull away as we come to the end of the third quarter let's take a look at how we got here so will the beat down continue or is this a comeback for the ages in store we'll see as we start the fourth looking to throw for it grab near the marker it's Johnson and he'll get it up to the 38 it'll be a first down FL Atlantic going back to work after moving the chains he'll come out throwing on first down he finds his man brought down at the 47 yd line after the 15yd pickup here comes the offense on First and 10 from the 47 he wants to throw it again pressure coming and they couldn't hold off the heat and he goes down with the sack man I've been there before as a quarterback sometimes you just wish the game would already be over right you've had nothing go your way all game long you're trailing late they're still getting sacks and you just want to go back to the lock and here comes the pressure and there he goes down again man the sack and this offense has just struggled they haven't done anything right and they got a full quarter to go like they got to find something in this this next quarter to hang their hat on something to to leave with some positive vibes and they fail to hook up on third down at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on he tosses one high and deep down the left side downfield and incomplete the defense holds South Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field looking for a productive play on first down from the gun they'll give it on the [Applause] inside up one didn't get much on first down it's second and nine here's the hand off bound that crease and they knock him down after a pick up of five to the 32 I think they called that knowing they weren't going to hit a home run so why would you call it that well you call it so third down becomes an easier down it's not third and long where I have to pass the football now all options on the down got to give the defense credit on that play taking everything away forcing the incompletion now it's decision time fourth and short in your in field goal range what do you do here now on fourth down they'll try to come away with three and that is no good no because no game is perfect something has to go wrong so the coach will have something to dri about [Music] in flid Atlantic takes over again and the owls offense will go back to work they were really aggressive going for it in their own end last time and put them in a tough spot David yeah aggressive Reckless they got to find the balance with this offense to really be productive and last possession they went for they rolled the dice Palmer and it didn't work out for him yeah if you're better on third down moving forward though you can keep yourself out of those situations that's caught it's Tucker he stopped at the 49 after gaining 10 move the chains with that completion now on first down he wants to throw fires to the middle it's caught downfield and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up ball marked at the 26 it's first and 10 wants to throw it's fer and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming after the quarterback and receiver failed to hook up they'll try it again on second down got a man it's Tucker and he's able to shed one tackle and gets a pretty good pickup for Atlantic trying to get it in from the Red Zone movement here from the tight end again they'll try to pick it up on the ground fights his way for a couple but stopped short of the marker it's fourth and one we hit the two-minute warning and this offense is desperate to make something happen and do it in a hurry on fourth down they're taking to the air and it's squatted away it's a turnover on Downs offense set on first down [Applause] they'll keep it on the ground trying to milk the clock that may not look like a huge run but they'll take it as it gets him up to the 24 they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and [Applause] three the give on the inside the Bulls will move the sticks all right nothing flashy there he just did what it took to get the first down up for a first down now on First and 10 from the 27 fig spite now looking to throw slides away you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six welcome to to the frustrating reality of college football like the guy at the quarterback spot he can just do that pull it down oh he faked the spike he's going to throw it he'll pull it down and run and works it through the 40 yd line that'll be a first down you can tell this is a pass play he has his eyes down the field he's looking to throw the football but how nice is it when you got a guy like this that can scramble and go get you a first down just really hard to stop from a defensive perspective [Applause] so with the late lead they're ready to just drain the clock in Victory [Applause] formation and the quarterback's just going to take a knee [Applause] if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of [Applause] momentum well this one had all the suspense of a bug hurdling his way toward a windshield and they did splatter them an absolutely dominating performance you got to give the coaching staff a ton of credit they obviously had there guys ready to play and motivated right from the opening kick all three phases we saw just spectacular football no mental mistakes David you really can't play better than that n it's it's really fun to do this come out and just dominate opponent start from Finish U nothing to worry about you just know you're better you're going to do you put up a bunch of points and win by a lot of points so that's going to do it for us for Jesse Palmer David poock I'm reys Davis saying so long this has been another
