welcome to Gainesville Florida it's hot it's humid just like the Gators like it and the reason they call this place to swap as we are ready for the Florida home opener little gets the blood boiling white like a rivalry game barbs shots trash talk things that go on throughout the week will now all be settled on this field as we'll see the number 23 team in the country the Miami Hurricanes taking on a team from the SEC the Florida Gator glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to tee it up the Gators will get this season underway as tow meets leather and they desperately wanted to attempt the return but decided not to instead they'll take the Touchback so the Florida Gator offense will start this game off there are always butterflies to start a game but when you have a rivalry like this the adrenaline is pumping on overdrive guys they aren't all the same we say that but we know differently the blood is boiling the temperature is hot Jesse you want this week more than most yeah David we' played in these games before everything just seems to be heightened right the game seems to be moving faster the crowd noise feels louder your composure will be tested early in a game like this halfway there on first down it's second and five out of the shotgun they go to the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one one of the big story lines coming into this year was the rising temperature of the coach's seat and the process of cooling things off starts now all off season this coach has said the right things I'm not worried about it I'm not focused on it I'm just worried about our team but David let's be real he's got to win games there is an expectation at this program to win and if he doesn't start fast this year that hot seat's only going to get hot no and then the chirping starts and everybody's going to be talking about his job the pressure builds and then you then what happens sometimes you lose the locker room so important to get off to a good start try to quiet some of those haters and some of those doubters and the gator will line it up on First and 10 easy they'll give it to Johnson there's always that issue of conference pride and keeping up of proving your worth on this stage and the ACC loves to get a chance at the SEC to do just that and these kids grow up in the same area and you don't think the ACC teams here all the time SEC SEC about the dominance the draft picks all the stuff that goes with it it definitely adds some of that fire it makes you want to beat them more I love these Big Time games yeah they really do David and I think this is one of those games where if you're the ACC team and your players in that locker room you've had this game circled all off seon this game is your opportunity to prove not just to your conference not just to the SEC but to everybody in college football just how good you are as a team and how good your conference is [Applause] now on second [Applause] down quarterback making adjustments with his receivers to the air it's MERS just a short pass to the tight end and the tackle was made but there has been a flag [Applause] thrown we'll repeat the previous down but this time the offense has 10 more yards it has to [Applause] cover second down coming up fast motion from the offense jump the gun just a bit we've got a false start false start just can't lose focus like that you got to know the snap [Applause] count and now on second down for this [Applause] offense he's looking to throw pressure coming so the penalty will not be enforced the defense declines and stands on the result of the [Applause] play and this defense is going to have its ears pin back on Third and long from the one and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage the Gators decide to punt it away the punter going to get his first work of the afternoon sometimes avoiding disaster is the best thing the punter just gets it out of there and the coverage team able to wrestle him down the hurricane offense will get its first crack at it now here are our impact players for this game and goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play well they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah they don't always show up in the Box Score but these are the guys are the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 quick pass on the jet motion he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see what the call is [Applause] holding that penalty moves the ball back 10 yds will replay the down you can barely hear yourself thinking here as they're trying to get this defense off to a good start from the gun the running back has it and this one will be stopped for No Gain sometimes people say if you're good enough what's a big deal about going on the road well if you're not careful you might find out in a spot like this one guys yeah no doubt about it this is a hostile environment and you know you're going to be getting the opponent's aame for this one they've circled this one all off seon so they better be ready to bring it today DAV and the hardest thing to do in college football is to go on the road everything about it changes and you want to sh this crowd up early you don't want to give them belief cuz if it starts to build throughout the game look out fourth down and the punt team sends it the other [Applause] way the gator sending the offense back to work they just didn't quite find the Rhythm on that last Drive Jesse they had to punt it I think they got to be more physical David I think up front they got to do a better job getting blocks and establishing this running game and how easy does football become if you're the more physical team if you can threaten the run and then then run play action it opens up the whole offense at your disposal so guys over the last few years there have been seismic changes to college football realignment they made highness but one of the biggest changes the transfer portal yeah and now guys that are unhappy or in a situation where they see something that they'd rather be in now you can leave and there is no penalty so a lot of recruiting Jesse on other people's teams that go on throughout a season yeah it's 365 and it's a lot of pressure on coaches to re-recruit their own players as well to try to keep those rosters intact but the transfer portal completely flips rosters upside down one team that struggles this year if they get one key addition it's a team potentially competing for a national championship next season makes the stop at the 49 but not before he get gets him plus territory gets 15 and a first down and these touch passes it's so hard because there's always action off right if I fake this pass and I can run it up the gut or I can throw it and I just spread me out and make me defend so many things and you can tell they got on the edge quickly got the big first down they'll leave it with him they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one they tried to get the defense going the wrong way with the counter but nothing doing aggressive defense attacking defense you want to hit them with those counters but it wasn't successful in this play defensive line linebackers everybody's doubting let's see what's going on they diagnose it go downhill hit him right in the middle of the field feeling some heat hit as he throws that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock threee for a fumble last time these two got together it was a tight one Jesse seems like every time these two teams play the game just feels faster right because it is a rivalry game there's just a greater sense of urgency when we see these teams match up yeah the fans feel it they know it there's so much trueth they think about it all year long we can talk about the next game on the schedule they're always looking forward to this one working that left side this tight end is such a weapon because he can line up all over the field that time he starts in the slot he's running the corner route against Zone coverage and he's just got athleticism and wiggle and the ability to separate and make big plays so nice to have a Target like that the gator will have it first and [Applause] 10 the hand off to Johnson dropped after a pick up of three down to the 26 and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knockbacks and limiting his carries after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven looking for a man it's MERS he's right on target he's there to make the stop but the damage has been done as they pick up the first down on the throwing catch that was a nice pickup running the drag route and finding that quiet soft spot in Zone yeah drag routes not only work against man coverage they work against zone two if you can find the soft spot the quarterback gets it to him early he can turn up field and you saw that right there going with the ground game left made a little something out of that Ronnie picked up a couple down to the 14 got it operating in the Red Zone here on second down here we go he's looking to throw get it out on the screen didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short gain there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down that's the end we've reached the end of the first quarter and it has been a defensive battle and the stats tell the tal so far [Applause] let's see if the offenses can find a little rhythm here in the second back on the field after the break and we'll start the quarter here on third down motion trying to get the defense to show its hand quarterback checking the play on third down he drops to throw makes the grab on the left and he goes down after making the grab picks up a few but still short of the first down here comes the field goal unit as they'll try to take the three from the left has this one shouldn't be too much trouble and it's right down on the Boulevard and that'll put the first points of the game on the board it's three to nothing long and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor's in the studio fellas I think at least a portion of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished up Tennessee left little doubt you know this version of the volunteers can of the teams of the past and remember this is a program that went 13 and0 on route to a national title back in 1998 it's one game you don't want to react too much either way but I think both teams will leave this one with some things to work on moving forward yeah how about that sounds as if they had a good ball game there Kevin thanks for the update after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 Martinez on the carry really nice job to squirt his way up to the 31 yd line just a simple power play again not sexy run the ball up the middle physicality offensive line needs to assert themselves run block what they love to do this pays dividends down the road in the fourth quarter to throw it's Ward it's complete to the left they'll keep this e e e by picking up the first down they have it at the 36 third down a lot of times it comes down to not necessarily who's the most open who do you trust the most yeah it's not about the x's and the O's it's about the jimmies and the Joe's and when my guy's better than you and I get you matched up out wide and I know I trust you I'm finding you takes this hand off and headed to the right he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three they're trying to run the ball on first down guys but just nothing doing up front their offensive line got blown up on that play there was nowh for that guy to go last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 little touch pass to the receiver across the 45 he's one out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down yeah yeah and way to be creative way to get the ball in the perimeter really quickly get some speed outside all you got to do is secure that edge and you're just trying to get that first down nice job nice play call by the offense from the gun they'll try to impose their running game I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced didn't get much on first down it's second and nine hand off from the shotgun a strong tackle and wrap up from the Junior and a lot of times you want those big plays you want those Splash plays but sometimes you're going to take some losses you're not going to run the football overly well but if you continue to run it you can at least create some balance you at least have the threat of it otherwise you're just going to abandon it and now it's just going to be a passing game defense makes a stop but the chain move in it's first and goal from the eight and that big Gainer on the last one has them threatening from inside the 10 they'll use the running game on first and goal they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one so you get stuffed on first down you had an idea of what you wanted to do on second but I'm guessing it's back to the drawing board now yeah you got to figure out who you are what you are uh what's your next best play or what is the defense going to do if they've been aggressive okay well if they've been aggressive I'm going to throw that def ball if they've been sitting back I might sneak a draw good job to toss that ball out of bounds and avoid the [Applause] loss so loud as rattling your fillings on Third and goal back to throw it's Ward he's got it on the move and he was able to run through one tackle but still only a modest gain and they'll send out the kicker to by a field goal from the left hash and this distance ought to make that angle pretty easy to handle no good and after the Miss they're still down by a field goal that's just a chip shot that's just a field goal they got to make guys Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense and to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they'd love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down to execution too did a nice job out in the field stalled a little bit once they got down to the goal line so they just need to be a little bit more press per there yeah and listen I I think the first part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down there focus on execution and getting six points give to the running back EAS Dro behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three well good call by the defense there they dialed up Blitz into that running play and the linebacker able to make a stop last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 trying playay action and the heat will get home and the quarterback goes down at the 17 often times with play action you're asking the quarterback to hold on to the ball a bit longer and you're asking this offensive line to hold up and pass Pro a bit longer against this athletic front seven on defense it's going to be tough and we might as well State the obvious first and second down didn't work out third and very long getting some heat turns it Loose wide open he makes it the catch a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first down what a beautiful throw and catch on this play and I love the job the receiver did tracking the ball in the air nice job of locating the throw and then hauling it in finally this offense starting to shake the cobwebs and get things moving it's first and 10 he's looking to throw it unloads to the wide out oh picked off got room on the turn the 40 the 20 touchdown Miami what a great play by the defense and paying it off with the interception return just one moment and all of a sudden the Fortune's turn you're in a position where you're about to give up points and now you look that around and you put points on the board perfectly executed what do you do on an interception first guy blocks the intended re everybody else starts to form a wall where the ball's going nice blocking nice interception nice return for the touchdown the gator sending the offense back to work they've been pretty much stifled on offense so far David only able to muster three points in their previous three drives and you got to find a way to open this up and create some explosive plays like the passing game is obviously the easiest way Jesse put more speed on the field find those guys down the field you know they're frustrated too because they felt like there were some matchups they could take advantage of to get some points on the board early in this one they just haven't been able to connect on those opportunities but I like David's idea maybe move some guys around and see if you can create some better one-on-one matchups try to get the edge with a quick touch pass he's got enough for the first down they'll Spott it at the 37 I just love the play call you're getting a fast player out of the open field and it's enough to get you a first down they've got it at the 37 it's first and 10 quarterback will audible back to pass it's Ms showing the arm strength down the left side and it falls incomplete but it could have been much much worse as the defender was right there well the defender got his hand on that one tipped it up in the air and offense man they're lucky that one wasn't Pig back to the line after the incompletion second and 10 from the 37 he's looking to throw this time he's got him finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down tell you what that's great execution between QB and receiver they look like they could execute that throw in their sleep quarterback took a steps threw it on time great route by the receiver nice job securing the catch to the air on first down he's going up top and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge game if he could have held on Hey listen the quarterback didn't get the completion on that throw but that doesn't mean you can't try again trusting your Playmakers outside to push the field and stretch it vertically and make a play for you it won't surprise me to see this QB take more shots as this game goes in they keep attacking through the air just a bit of a misfire there as they can't make the connection and listen as a quarterback you're trying to find the match up trying to find who's open I don't know if anybody was open but that was not a greatly thrown football I don't know if it was miscommunication but the ball thrown out of bounds and that just on to the next down wants to throw it's MERS zings it complete to the right he's R out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down what a nice job getting rid of the football not only avoiding the sack but getting the nice game man taking a shot getting hit as he throws it showing some toughness but going through his progression he couldn't find anybody open finally went to his running back got him the football and he did the rest and the gator with the first and 10 motion from the offense wants to throw on first down they're bringing heat can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls incomplete on second down they'll take to the air pass rush coming after the quarterback and they get him at the 32 well I think one of the biggest reasons why this team is finding themselves in a hole here in the first first half is this has been a sack party they can't keep the defense off of their quarterback they haven't been able to get the ball deep down the field throwing it with the consistency they want because they can't keep their quarterback standing up straight on Third and long he'll need to loosen up that arm and it's a touchdown it is also a play in which there is a flag on the field let's see what the call [Applause] is holding penalties the ultimate Drive killer we'll see if it cost this offense here ninth play of the drive coming up but this one will be tough third and long looking downfield and he needs a bunch and it's intercepted a turnover for the defense and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception he's just Johnny on the spot that now he's second interception of the game doing a great job reading the quarterback's eyes and he has just been in the right place at the right time making plays fires to the right he's got it the offense will stop the clock and use one of its timeouts yeah and you've seen these cor routes this is a timing route understand the ball's got to come out of my hand right when he hits the top of that curl nice job by the QB finding him nice catch throws to the wide out got him downfield and he was on his way and they get him down at the 30 the offense calls timeout it's the second one they've used this half now on first down from the 30 he's going to pass and the defense gets home and makes a play at the 37 yd line and that inside linebacker showing you the speed and the recognition he saw a gap and saw a crease in a free pack to the quarterback and wo he took it so now on second and long you start to think just don't fall out of field goal range he's got an open man they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down one more snap coming before juice boxes and orange slices we've got a timeout in the waning seconds of the half maybe a chance to get off a couple more plays and it's third down but they're going to go ahead and try the field goal and try to get points before the break and he'll need a little distance and accuracy a 42 y from the left hasch he splits to the upright and puts three on the board that late in the half field goal always gives you a little boost going to the locker room and they'll need to finish off these final few seconds and not allow them to answer he'll be brought down and that's the final play of the half at the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update kickoff and kickoff return teams on the field and we are just about ready to go in the second half and they thought about a return Then thought better of it they'll bring it out to the 25 and here comes that Miami offense back onto the field they had this lead to start the third quarter because of the pass game didn't get a lot G on the ground they didn't but the quarterback is in a rhythm that was obvious in the first half and so this first drive you want to continue that you want to see good decision making you want to see him playing on time and as always delivering the football I I mean I don't know how I don't give him the football it's the reason I built the lead he's the guy that I can trust this offense is built around him so I expect more of the same here in the second [Applause] half offense gets set for second down to the air it's Ward receiver looks it in it's complete he's close to the first down but they're going to Mark him just a little short nice solid completion there hit him on the slant yeah and a nice route in the slot too by that receiver great job putting his foot in the ground crossing the face of the defender and giving this quarterback a nice Target to throw down and they're getting it rolling with that play to the 42 yd line third and one you know they're running the football it's just a matter of who's getting it and where they're going but this offense it really didn't matter nice job up front nice execution picking up not only the one making it an even bigger play and getting the first down and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down the canes are moving quickly down the field off play action on first down quick strike complete and he goes down right there that play is going to lose yardage line getting set on second down it's a draw he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and the draw play you know it's not looking at here looking the pass spping it in real quick defense too quick getting the back we're caging that ball making it stay in the middle of field getting a big TFA Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down catch in the middle it's Martinez and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker it's fourth down and they'll try the field goal and this will be a bit of a challenge a 46 yd attempt from the right hat he got it and that will extend their lead even further let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got guys let's take a look at what's happening in a great college football matchup Oregon has opened up a can right now and based on what we've seen I'm not sure anything is going to change they're up by 34 over the e e we'll Circle back if anything big happens you need to know about it thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense they are trailing by 10 here Jesse but this is the type of team that seems comfortable in an offensive shootout you got to hold serve at this point right you got to drive the field put some more points up on the board yeah they just scored you can answer that now and keep this thing close and I think you're used to that as offense like football is so fastpaced now and you score so quickly it's not that big of a deal to get down 10 you keep being you keep being aggressive might as well get give it to him again and a pick up of eight opens a world of opportunities on second and two coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that they'll go to the ground brought to the ground but not before getting it up for the first down you wonder now on offense have they found something in the Run game finally it's been tough for them to get the Run game going but they picked up a nice gain on that last one let's see if they go back to [Applause] it here's an opportunity for this offense in search of its first touchdown it's first and 10 he wants to throw he rifles one deep down the right side and the DB making a huge play knocking it away down field his defense is heating up they got an interception in the last possession you could tell breaking on the football really really well seeing where the quarterback's throwing it going to try to get it got another hand on it almost had another interception they'll line up for a second down play receivers telling the quarterback what they see looking to throw it's Ms moving keeping the eyes down field nothing doing downfield he'll cut his losses and throw it away it'll be third down and that goes down as incompletion but that's a smart play and the QB coach and the OC will be very happy with the decision of the quarterback he got outside the pocket he obviously so he's outside the tackle boxes he knew he could throw it away as long as he got it past the line of scrimmage nothing there nothing open Li to fight another down wide open downfield he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense the gator come to the line with a new set of downs looking to go up top on first down they're setting up the screen and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one just an obvious holding call there and one that just kills an offense's momentum they're just making things harder now it's first and 20 he's looking to throw and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete yeah and unfortunately this guy's been beat like a drug he's been hit sacked a bunch of times already gain another hit right here I'm I'm literally looking at my offensive line and be like dude I need some more time you got to protect me better than this give me a chance to complete some [Applause] passes he'll just keep slinging it fires toward the end zone and it's caught touchdown Florida and it took a minute but the passing attack now on board the first passing touchdown of the season and it took to the second half but I tell you what this offense will find its Rhythm they'll grow they'll get better throughout the season and this is going to be a hard passing attack to stop ready to try the point after exra point and the Pat will draw them one point closer about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line here comes the hurricane offense looking to gather a little more strength they kicked a field goal on the last Drive Jesse they've got the lead don't make a dumb mistake but maintain your aggressive play caller yeah no doubt I think it's the play caller right now just taking a look at that script he's got in front of him finding out where are my Playmakers who can we take advantage of on this defense to get a touchdown here bab yeah and just keep moving the ball down the field just execute a little bit better in the Red Zone there's no need to panic we're moving the football and we got the lead and that's why for the offensive coordinator you've got to find as many ways as possible to get this guy going just get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage doesn't need to be a throw deep down the field he's so Dynamic when he has the ball in his hands you saw it right there leaves it with the back able to scr three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven you know what's so important for offense is to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down caught poose to the marker it's Restrepo stopped at the 47 yd line a 10yd gain and they'll move the markers the offense will put it in play from the 47 on First and 10 looking to move it through the air and the britz gets to him just like that so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty looking for a productive play on first [Applause] down from the gun they'll try the middle and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first after picking up a couple it's second and eight scanning the field it's Ward and he drops it just a little too slippery in the hand looked like the offense had a chance for a big play there but the running back just could not reel that ball in decb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down couldn't quite haul it in they all almost had their first pick here late in the game nice job by the defense they're mixing up their look they third and long and field goal range they go Zone coverage so everybody on the back end has the eye on the quarterback and they're able to break on the ball Force the incompletion 57 yds out and E Powers it through the upright how nice is it as a head coach to have a kicker like this it makes these decisions on fourth down so much easier just strut him out there and let him stroke it through the uprights and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return the gator sending the offense back to work man what a drive last time for the touchdown that passing attack was Lethal David yeah and you know you hear all these stupid commentators like me and Jesse talking about create balance you know run and pass no when you throw that good spin the ball around so the defense has to find a way to affect the quarterback on this drive because last drive he had way too much time to well and on these little push passes timing is so important trying to snap but right as he's getting a full head of steam when he gets the ball he's getting the outside D it puts the defense in such a difficult spot you immediately have to be rotating when you see that he hurs one deep down the left side and they wanted it all on that incomplete pass instead they're looking at third down really nice play by the defender being in a good position for that deep ball down the field not letting the receiver put his big body on him go up over top the only thing that could have been better is that thing tipped to another Defender and it was an interception but great coverage by the defender got his man downfield that'll be enough for the first down and they'll mark it at the 48 and the quarterback knew EX where he wanted to go to the football had time spins the ball deep nice job by this offense understanding what the defense is giv him and create an explosive play to the ground with the back and how about the efficiency on that one it'll bring up second and four you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick it up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense got six on first down now a lot of options on second and [Applause] four quarterback reacting to what the D is showing looking downfield it's MERS going for it all and it's incomplete going for the massive explosive play instead they're looking at a third down I think when you go through these progressions as a quarterback you want to find the right guy to throw to obviously I just I didn't think he was the right guy I didn't think he was really that open and listen he sailed and he overthrew but I might have surveyed the middle of the field a little bit couldn't find his man last time now they'll have to convert third and four from the gun wants to pass and he got smack just as he released the pass it's incomplete the Gators will send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it [Applause] away they're going to mark this one at the [Applause] 15 good news I guess a lot of room to work with as they start this drive from their own 15 they'll ride the running back and leave it with him and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its to looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him [Applause] out here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they'll throw it on first down got a in it's Badger he's right out of bounds but not before BR in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first [Applause] down we've reached the end of the quarter and Miami is on top three quarters are in the books time becomes a factor both in trying to hold the lead or cut into it as we take a look at the steps not only is the scoreboard on their side but so too is time as we open the four [Applause] [Music] they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first [Music] down he's looking to throw it caught in the back field it's Johnson they get it down to the seven on that pass play in Prime position for a score unless there is a dramatic turn of events this is not going to be a way to cool off that hot seat and they're going to have to be able to handle adversity and handle the outside noise moving forward because losing this game in week one all the detractors all the naysayers that noise is going to get louder that hot seat is getting even hotter and I think all eyes are going to be on this program now David seeing how they turn the page and move on from this and I give you exhibit a Jesse Palmer just turned up the hot seat oh and the Hallelujah land touchdown Gator offense did exactly what it's supposed to do with a start like that one when you're set up with that field position you're thinking touchdowns you're not thinking field goals it's exactly what the offense does takes advantage of great field position e e ling up to add another and the extra point gives him a onepoint lead here in the fourth we check in with Kevin Connor what's going on Kevin all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend Air Force is delivering an allout assault offensively today hanging points all over the wild blue yonder they're up by 28 over the astronauts we'll Circle back if anything changes in this exciting college football match up oh and how about that I know Kevin and those guys will be keeping an eye on it for us one back in the back field and they'll give it to him picks up a useful 5yd chunk out to the 30 yd line I think one of the hardest things to do is stick to the run when it's not working but it's Those runs right there that the reason why you have to do it right you can't get two one dimensional keep slipping Those runs in there keep getting a little bit of positive yards next thing you know you look up when you might break one of those after you got them a little bit time big third down as the crowd Gets behind this defense back to pass it's Ward got it set up on the outside and the completion gives him a fresh set of downs and keeps this drive moving third down defense is thinking pass so those defensive ends rushing up the field that plays perfectly in to the running back screen great play call at the right time grab in the back field it's brown and good coverage by the defense just a short game I don't know if that's the coverage you want to be throwing wide receiver screens against often times you want the receivers to have some access you want the DBS to be off a couple yards so you can help set up the blocks and give the receiver somewhere to go with it it's hard to run that against press coverage and they only picked up a few yards there really nice stop there from this senior [Applause] leader better find the earplugs here comes the noise backing this defense on third down looking to throw grabbed behind the line it's Johnson just couldn't find any room and he wound up throwing it in reverse they lost yardage and the canes will punt this one away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away they'll get down and put a stop to the return at about the 28 yd line will take over Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense line gets set first down the give to the back and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no game land given the unrest surrounding this guy's future as the head coach this would be a great way to get the season started man you want all the momentum you can get and you want a quiet Mo down you don't want it to get louder the louder those murmurs talk about hot seed and you have a tendency to lose your football team it's a distraction you have to talk about it all the time so always nice Palmer to get off on the right foot you just got to he's loose plenty of room on that play and they find their way to the 36 well how about the offense setting that play up we've seen earlier in the game a couple shorter throws just trying to suck those SA is close to the line of scrimmage anticipating that they would get an opportunity to take a shot they called the perfect play at the perfect time right there that kind of play will put a jolt into a drive it's first and 10 from just inside the 40 touch pass on the Jet Sweep we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for p Palmer I bet you would have loved being able to just Flip It Forward that counts as to your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB you wouldn't have been the only allamerican in this boo David if I were allowed to have Push passes when I was playing P I'll tell you that it is so hard to defend it's so hard to seal that edge especially when this guy's Full Speed Ahead coming around the lasts side that one comes out hot down the right side and into the end zone he goes TouchDown for it up like a Thanksgiving turkey they're just being caught no shot they have no idea how to get this quarterback set he's on fire everything he's doing is working defensively we got to figure something out we got to try to do something a little bit different bring more pressure at this right shoot he's on so much fire you might as well just send everybody lets everybody live with the results cuz everything else ain't working anyways lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive he thought about bringing that out for a half second but he'll take a knee and they'll bring it to the 25 and here comes that Miami offense back onto the field that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them he's knocked down in the back field he lose a couple and defense nowadays they don't look at stats of what is a yards per rush they look at how many negative plays they can bre is why now you look at second down man it just became very predictable for this offense nice job creating the loss on first down back to throw it's Ward got his man out of the back field trying to tackle this guy's a business decision as he gets it up to the 29 and this offense I think will do a good job in this in divvying up the football and distributing it to different guys in the passing game it won't just be receivers it's not going to be tight ends this running back he's a weapon too after he catches it you saw it right there on Third and long he has to throw for it complete out of the back field looking for the sticks he ended up going backwards on the play and they will not convert that third down and the kanes will bring the punt team onto the field he'll bring it back it's Wilson working his way on the return up to the 40 yd line before he stopped the gator sending the offense back to work looking for a productive play on first [Applause] down they'll run the ball the clock is on their side and the defense stops him just short of the first down maybe needed a few more chain links to move the sticks and I think if you're the head coach defensively now obviously you've got three timeouts in your back pocket you're trailing at this point and the offense is going to be running the football trying to bleed the clock they're going to take as much time off the game clock as they can before snapping it you've got to start thinking about using some of those timeouts they'll give it to Johnson and The Gator pick up the first down well it's an offense that Prides himself on being physical no mystery there you need one yard turn around hand it off let him go to [Applause] work we've reached a two-minute warning in this offense trying to milk this clock and keep time on their side just nosing into enemy territory at the 49 it's first and 10 power football with the Run he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their [Applause] offense e [Applause] linebacker shuffling around trying to keep the quarterback from getting a read at this point the defense just has to bring the house to try to stop the run and get the ball back even on second and 13 quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense and not a surprise by this offense right this is a game management type situation I want to run the football I want to run the clock the clock is my friend with the lead late in the fourth quarter inside of a minute I'm going to keep this ground game going and make you have to look at that clock continue to tick they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here easy the give to the left side good execution they moved the sticks and they've got it at the 33 time out Paul there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible and the offense is content with where it is they'll take a KNE oh Sports history David upset is the only horse ever to defeat man of war and that's why we call games like this an upset I really had no clue that was a real thing but I do know this is an upside this team was unranked beat a ranked team but got you round got your respect you gained it now let's build on this throughout the season one win great win now let's go ahead and build some momentum in the future ree some might say you're not a one-trick pony with that reference and obviously this was the team the unranked team that had the horses to get this thing done too much fire power just too much
