Tulsa Oklahoma home to the Tulsa Golden hurricane in Skelly field where the fans have gathered and they are ready to see those hurricanes gather some strength we have a ranked versus unranked battle coming up here you know how chaos can ensue if they start smelling an upset as we'll see a squad from the Mountain West the Colorado State Rams taking on the 12th ranked team in the land the Tulsa Golden hurricane glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to te it [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] up delza will kick off and we'll get this game started the returner will field it and try to set up his offense in great field position and the coverage team able to wrestle him down so the Colorado State Rams return man hardly helped out the offense with that one and here he is one of the best receivers in the game and he just commands attention both from the defense and from the fans yeah he's a guy you got to keep your eye on and you're going to see him line up all over the field in this game he can play in the slot he can play out wide he can run the entire gamut in the route tree as well really fires a full now it's picked off he was looking for room to return that but he'll just hand it to the offense they'll take over at the 18 and that right there is a huge reason why this team has a winning record coming into this game their defense takes the ball away and here on the opening drive you see the athleticism in the back end of the defense picking it off and putting it in Great field position for their own Line Get Set first down to the ground with the back not a whole lot of room there three yards maybe second and seven I wonder how much fun this is for him the head coach trying to take down the old alma mater across the way yeah I think these are always mixed emotions and how you feel about this playing your old Squad like it's something about it I'm sure that's nostalgic and all the memories probably come flooding back but there's also a competitive element Palmer that you want to beat this squad like this is this is the next team in your way for you accomplishing your goals and dreams yeah he's probably experiencing the emotional Spectrum coming into this game but make no mistake about it he has to separate himself from his past allegiances and understand he's the home team he wants this crowd to get just destroying his way through the field stopped at the three but it'll be enough to give them a first and goal this offense has really gotten to a nice Rhythm here on their opening drive of the game running the ball getting it down now into a go too situation they really have established a bit of a physicality here early let's see if they can keep that up yeah and I and I love running the football down the Red Zone you've got to be able to do it first down obviously is the right down to do it but now limits the options a little bit more second down after that loss of yards play from the shotgun the inside k a run up the middle is stuck for No Gain it's looking like they're going to have to throw this one in now on third down David and you know the execution just has to be spot on timing especially at the quarterback position here and thinking about the defense they're aggressive in these situations they're going to play man they're going to play uptight on you so I know that now how do I counter punch and attack this defense and he takes it in for the score touchdown golden hurricane when you're handed a break with unbelievable field position like that you better finish the deal and they did you saw the quarterback jog on the field I think he gave a high five to every one of those players coming off that just put them in position to go score that touchdown that QB knew this was a golden opportunity and boy he took advantage of it and the returner will be brought down we will see what this Colorado State offense can get done this time well let's see if this drive goes better than the last one they were in and out quickly after the quick pick David yeah first play big mistake man now let's get this offense in a little bit of a rhythm maybe before you open it up again Palmer or do you trust him right away uh he seems to me like the guy maybe that just needs to kind of get into the flow of the game so maybe you get the running game going here and just give him some easy looks to let him get loued out touch pass on the Jet Sweep it's these little moments like that can help an offense as he gets it up to the 16 yd line they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on third down going up top catch in the middle it's Bell After Burner coming the 20 touchdown Colorado State and once he got loose it was all over and what did I start for this offense the throw game getting working getting theou down pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in the Rhythm nice start for this offense after that later an are tied things up just about set to kick it away again and he takes this from inside the five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 we'll get another look at this Tulsa offense that last Drive really productive David wound up with a touchdown they'll try to do it again yeah so I don't expect this off defense to change too much ree they had a great Drive they got the touchdown everything working I would expect them to keep pushing this ball downhill they could put another touchdown on the board right here they could capture so much momentum in this game with backto back TDS got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 now the quarterback changing the original play call looking downfield its pain using his legs keeping his eyes down field he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense man that used to just drive me nuts I couldn't stand that the quarterback drops back the pass scrambles around you got me chasing you all over the field getting close to the sideline stay in bounds please stay in bounds let me get a little bit of a reward for all my running so I can just put some kind of hit on you nope steps out of bounds got his man downfield they got him free for a big gain down to the 43 I love when you sell the run like that quarterback did right there stuck it in the belly of the running back pulls it out runs the play action great job of confusing the defense a little bit making him honor the run and then throwing the ball in the lanes right behind him here's a quick throw out to the left he's right out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down that was a really nice catch and an even better run after the grab and get the ball to your playmaker what's good about having him in the slot is he can go either direction you can get him matched up on somebody that's not fast and you watch he can run away from those linebackers or safeties and that's a pretty good job by this defense man it's so hard to limit these quarterbacks and they're spreading you out all over the field when they take off it's hard to limit the damage nice job limiting the damage reels it in in the end zone touchdown Tulsa and it's so underrated the the relationship between a QB and a wide receiver the timing the ability to know where he's going to be and be accurate in the football that's what leads to nice touchdowns Jesse well the chemistry between these two guys has to be great when you're throwing into the end zone because coverage is going to be tight the throw might not be perfect but this is something these two guys have been repping in practice over and over and over and he's paying dividends now on game Colorado State takes over the ram offense returns to the field the lone backs got it didn't get much done on that run he'll fight his way out and maybe maybe pick up a yard they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 the give to the back they finally make the stop but the big run is plenty to move those sticks for the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they'll put the tight end in motion from the gun they'll try the middle he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple just nothing doing on that last run and they knew coming into this one they were going to be challenged right this is one of the best defenses in all of college football for them to have any shot they're going to have to do a lot better running the football and they make the Stop and that will likely bring us to the end of the first quarter thir we're through one period and these receivers are showing out big time take a look at the stats these are the types of plays where offenses impose their will third and short from the 45 he'll do it himself they were all over him nowhere to go as that third down play turned into a disaster and the Rams will bring the punt team onto the field this will be their first punt of the afternoon on the move it's green they'll put a stop to that turn at about the 37 yd line the golden hurricane offense comes back onto the field man what a drive last time for the touchdown that passing attack was Lethal David and you know you hear all these stupid commentators like he's going to let one fly down the middle and they took a shot on that one but couldn't make the connection it's incomplete and guys if I'm on offense I am staying aggressive I know you didn't connect there but make sure you keep testing this defense because even if you complete one of those throws that could be the gamebreaking play makes the grab it's green and there was lots of space as he gets it to the 39 yd line tell you what that's great execution between QB and receiver they look like they could execute that throw in their sleep quarterback took his steps threw it on time great route by the receiver nice job securing the catch the RPO fir complete to the left at the 20 he's got space and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end how nice is it as a quarterback when you don't have to throw post routs to get great stats no I can just throw it quickly to one of the fastest players in the entire nation and let him burn this defense and he finds Some solid space makes a nice game before the defense is able to stop him and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making a good run great job finishing with his back he steps and powers and works his way they finally get him down at a two well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running play and they get just enough to keep the drive alive and he takes it to the house touchdown golden hurricane lining up for the Pat and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 follow the block the offensive line will take you to the Hallelujah man and I tell you what most of the time Reese it requires a little bit of skill to find that hole and you Slither through a little crack that was not a crack that was wide open didn't take a lot of vision cuz the blocking was outstanding the offense set for a first down play from the gun they'll give it on the inside find Zack PR and he's got four out to the 29 and it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six throws to the wide out it's caught downfield he gets those chains moving gets it out to the 42 yd line after moving the sticks with the pass here we are on first down the give out of the gun finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down the Rams come to the line with a fresh set of downs moving the running back forcing the defense to adjust grabbed in the middle it's Bell this quarterback right now is in a Groove and he's doing a nice job in pre-nap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Rhythm right here's the hand off and they'll bring him down but not before he picks up the first down you got to wonder if that's a moral victory for this offensive line because they have not been running the ball well at all all game long but on that short yardage situation they finally pick it up and maybe that's going to be the Catalyst for them to get this thing going and Spark the Run game and a pick up of eight opens a world of opportunities on second and two stuck with a running game on first down now here they come again give to the running back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple that linebacker saw the express lane right to the ball carry and a great job by the defensive line getting some push making them use their resources on him linebacker comes free and makeing the back field for a tackle for a loss we've reached a two-minute warning and this thing has been one-sided and they hope to at least have something to feel good about going into halftime and the kicker delivers the three ball to finish off the drive they'll kick it away after putting up a field goal on that last [Applause] drive that ball scoots through the back of the end zone it'll be a Touchback we'll get another look at this Tulsa offense David they'd love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well Palmer they executed and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well and I'd love to sends it down field it's complete a huge pickup and they'll do more than move the chains they'll move that thing more than 30 yd down the field before he's finally stopped they don't seem interested an inching the ball down the field that big play sets him up first and 10 from the 36 he's looking to throw [Music] it the short hands it's Smith he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down Tulsa now has it in the red zone they're threatening to score and they'll throw it and it's incomplete as he tried to thread that needle to the back corner of the end zone nice job by the defense there taking all throws away from the quarterback he had nowhere to put that football in the field to play so that ball obviously had to go out of bounds dropping back it's PA working the middle of the field and it's complete that throwing catch gets them down to the six and the defense is running out of answers tight quarters deep in the Red Zone but they can pick up a first down without scoring third down and here's a fumble way behind the line that football must be riveted to your rib cage how can you let it go at least they fell on it they'll try to get something out of this drive and kick the field goal here on fourth down it's good and that was dead solid perfect and that will extend their lead even further [Music] so they get the field goal now about to kick it away and you get a stop here and you go to halftime feeling really good about things and they desperately wanted to attempt a return but decided not to instead they'll take the Touchback guys we'll have another peek at this Rams offense so late in the half this is really an opportunity David maybe to swing the momentum in their favor dang right there's no time to be concerned if we're a little bit down listen I just think this is a point with the offense that they can prove like we're here we're going to create something now that we can build on in the second half coach said all week he wanted to be aggressive this is a great opportunity to show that right now at the end of the first half try and generate some momentum score some points before going into halftime they'll run it to the right that play just never had a chance they knock him down for a loss of five referee signals timeout it's the defense wanting to make sure that they have everything just right with a big play coming and he loses the football on the return and he falls on top of his own fumble and the offense will retain possession offense in a bunch formation quarterback will audible the offense showing I from the tight end trying to get a read on the D to the air it's [Applause] pay wide open downfield they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs he's going to pass he'll try to do it himself a really nice run and gain and he gets down to avoid Tak punishment nice job by the QB sitting back in the pocket you can tell he wants to throw the football go through his progressions nothing home take off and slide I love the slide at the end don't take a big shot quarterback floating away from pressure trying to make magic with his feet he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some on the board before the break feeling some heat and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 timeout called by the offense and now they just have one remaining in the half and the kicker delivers the three to salvage that drive and that lead grows even bigger and the Rams will kick it off to start the second half number set a kick this one away and the ball will make it into the end zone no return on that one for a Touchback the golden hurricane offense comes back onto the field they keep it on the ground to open the third shakes off the tackle still on his feet at the 45 he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down they came out hot on this drive one play and already near Midfield makes the grab it's Abrams at the 40 there he goes Rams him with the stiff arm and he'll be run out of bounds and these guys are piling up some serious yardage total from the gun the ground game he's all the way down to the three showed it all on that run this is going to be a big key for him David with the lead here in the second half running the football right staying on the field and bleeding the clock yeah run the football you're ahead you can be a little a little bit more conservative but again this opens up the pass this keeps everything in balance for this offense nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming and he's dragged down and with the stuff there Jesse on second down this little third to midrange you got two downs what are you thinking here maybe getting your quarterback out on the perimeter and giving him a run pass option see if you can get the def defense in a bind wants to fire It In The End Zone on Third and goal can't make the grab as he was looking for his man right at the goal line third and short in college football today you see so much more pass than he used to the offense stays aggressive and I think they stay aggressive CU they know they're in field go range they got that three in their back pocket that lead just keeps getting fatter in this kickoff team doing a little running and he'll just take and this drive will start at the 25 we will see what this Colorado State offense can get done this time the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum after the productive first down play it's second and six they'll run it from the gun defense there to stop him after a two- yd gain to the 31 and this offense can ill afford to come up empty on this drive already trailing by multiple possessions shotgun snap on third down snagged in the middle it's Bell and they finally haul him down but not before the good catch and run the r with the first and 10 the give to the back nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the carry and yeah that's kind of surprising we talked about this before the game one of the big matchups run the football against a defense that's been susceptible against the Run throughout the season but this offense just can't find a way to get it going and I'm surprised but now what's your counter punch how are you going to get the ground game going so far not a lot of success third down coming up after that completion they'll try to pick it up on the ground running with power he gets it to the 38 yd line and they'll pick up a fresh set of downs and that's all you want right you want that first down understand the situation understand I got to get North and South get a first down get a new set of downs wants to throw one first down fires left and it's picked off and the offense makes the tackle in frustration after the interception Drive comes up empty and it's a turnover as a quarterback you've got to give your receiver an opportunity to make the play you got to put the ball on his body that throw gets away a little bit from the QB and that leads to the tip the interception not a lot of room but found his way ahead for two out to the 26 that's a really good job by the defense wrapping them up get them on the ground take away that run game make them onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense they're bringing heat kept it and he's past the marker and maybe they' tried to spy on the quarterback but it just hasn't worked another first down he just keeps gashing them with his feet here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they'll run it out of the shotgun you'll take this every time five yards on the first down play demo of this offense and they really put a lot on the offensive line to go out and really try and establish their dominance and their assertiveness and they've done a good job of that early in this game running the football and not much doing there as that defense runs him out of bounds I like the decision by the quarterback here just get the ball out of your hands get it to your playmaker a lot of times they'll dance and make even bigger plays than he did here but it was still a positive game on Third and short just trying to get enough for the first down and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup Tulsa seems to have the whole Playbook working off the play fake on first down to throw he's got an open man touchdown Tulsa and the route is on no step back in week three they have been sharp as they extend the lead and he tacked on the extra point almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown one of the reasons this offense is so exciting to watch they've got guys that are dangerous after the catch if this quarterback gets through his progression David he hits you in stride these guys will take it to the house man it's your job to do the rest right you hit me in stride where I don't have to stop running I don't have to break down it makes it so easy the connection between quarterback wide receiv you can tell this is a good one and that's why they got six on that play I'll tell you this defensive end not not only can he pass rush but he can play the run as well you see him beat the offensive lineman there trying to block him and get in the back field to make that tackle for loss that was impressive grabed behind the line it's Bell and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up somebody needs to make a play here it's third and long from the 26 from the gun wants to pass and he throws his third pick of the day his head has to be spinning and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick first down here for the offense wide receiver shows motion quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep ripping off a good chunk inside the 25 and they're set up with a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs leaves it with the back going to be a gain of a about three down to the 21 small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him onor the Run game you got to do a lot of this just about ready to go in the fourth and we'll see if any drama can be mustered we'll start the quarter offense about to snap it on second down one back in the back field he gets to carry get him after he picked up five and got him inside the Red Zone down to the 16 after the strong run on second down third down coming do they do it again scanning the field it's pay looking to scramble didn't find much Running Room there picked up a few before he's forced out of bounds QB's got to be able to play on so many different levels they got to read coverages know the snap count know what everybody's doing and then does a great job at the end making something out of nothing making a positive play picking up a new set of downs a new set of problems for this defense in situations like this offensively when you got the lead in the fourth quarter when you got to run the ball you go back to the runs that you have the most confidence in that you can execute in your sleep and they do it right there ripping off seven yards I love when players understand situations and they understand where the first down marker is and they understand where I got to get to a lot of people you'll see run north south touchdown golden hurricane and the beat down has ensued they push the lead out here in the fourth quarter and close to getting back on track and going two and one this has been a complete performance the defense has been lights out and the offense obviously just continues to pour it on this is what you call having a great day putting it all together offense defense complimentary football Colorado State takes over the ring ra offense returns to the [Applause] field can't hold on he had it right down the middle and he flat dropped it after the incompletion it's second and 10 from their own 25 misfired on the last play they'll go back to the air catch in the middle it's Bell running wide open down the gut of the field and he crosses the goal line and gets the touchdown but way too little way too late but they still do count it for six once the game reaches this point you start thinking ahead and how you can find something positive to take into the next game dang right keep the offense roll and try to find some plays that I can use throughout this season that I can have some more success or I guess have success I haven't had a lot of success today but I'm looking for the future the drive starts from their own 25 yd line [Music] they'll throw it on first down with the catch it's Fowler I don't know if they're trying to get this guy high in consideration but the fact that they're still throwing the ball at this point of the game with the lead like they have is surprising I got to be honest well offensively they knew they were going to have some matchups they could take advantage of in this one and all of a sudden this quarterback has now over 300 yards passing in the game defensively David he has got them on their heels and he's been showing you a little bit of everything he can throw it all over the field to all different receivers to his tight ends to his running backs really has the ability to spread it around and now over 300 yards still some time left and he can put up even bigger numbers and heck go chase some awards man get some postseason Awards get an All-American just put up a day and it looks as if the offense will just take a knee they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this [Applause] one and
