welcome to Houston Texas and the house bill yman and Andre we built home to the Houston Cougars where the fans are ready for liftoffs what a showdown we have in store a couple of Big 12 teams squaring off in what could prove to be a huge game the offense lining up for a first down [Applause] play from the shotgun they'll run it get the nose of the ball to the 25 give him one oh man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack he's dropped behind the line of scage that'll be a loss of three a third and long coming up here looking to throw and he needs a bunch and he was hit just as he released it and it falls to the turf K State sends the punt team onto the field ready to boot it away let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one just needs a crack to get a return K state has the ball back and the power cat offense returns to the field the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum that's a really nice play it's impressive when it's first down and the defense thinks you might be running the football you still can line up you can get some movement at the point of attack and find a little crease for your running back Johnson looking to throw quickly to the tight end and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down it must be nice for this quarterback knowing he's got this type of athlete playing the tight end position that can work the middle of the field form he's a guy who can stretch it vertically as well but this is a guy the QB will look for early and often in this game saged in the middle it's Johnson and the explosiveness the big Gainer gets it to the 49 yd line and the wild cats will snap it on First and 10 the give to the back fights off a Defender just a Savvy veteran productive run from this junior well with the weapons this offense has you knew it was just a matter of time in the Run game before someone was going to break a long one they' just been running into a wall they just couldn't seem to find their creases and get enough movement up front but they finally got it there picking up the first let's see what happens [Applause] next they move the tight end all over trying to get the corner and a pick up of eight opens a world of opportunities on second and two after the good pick up on first down let's see if they keep it on the ground on the move it's Edwards not a whole lot of room as he gets a couple inside the 30 to the 29 coming to the line looking for that first down on Third and short from the 29 looking to throw for it gets it out quickly gets away from one find some space he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down Kansas State in business in the Red Zone they'll try to get outside he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three I care who you are but if you're going to have success offensively you've got to have some semblance of a running game they didn't have it their last time out they obviously really struggled in that game and in this one just not getting enough push up front and it's putting them in some really difficult situations got some work to do on second down after that last one they need 13 got his man on the right crisp execution in the passing game and they've got it down to the three this tight end he's got size and he's got some athleticism and he's very difficult to cover one-onone defense is going to have their hands full with him today with the run on first and goal they'll make the stop behind the line of scrimmage and that'll bring us to the end of the first quarter defense has dominated the early part of this game and the stats point that out [Applause] emphatically Johnson throw it and that pass will be Jarred loose on second down that brings up third down Lo like the offense had a chance for a big play there but the running back just could not reel that ball in the receivers often will run their route based on a side adjustment wants to throw for it on Third and goal line gets set first [Applause] down he wants to throw gets it out fast and he laid the lumber to stop him from getting the first down I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job fors his forward maybe gets one they it at the 18 I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced got it behind the line it's G really strong job by the defense a negative play on third down now on fourth down they'll try to come away with three and he missed it and here comes the Kansas State offense back onto the field you want to talk about taking the wind out of your sails Drive the ball you know what don't leave it up to Kickers execute better offensively I think you move the ball nice you got to keep that in mind but Palmer I think you got to stay aggressive and don't settle for field goals yeah because you got to know there's just no margin for error right now you just have got to be able to execute at a higher level you make up the game not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 oh he's going to try to get it all here he's got it down the right side oh look out and the catch and run into the end zone first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute warning from the shotgun the inside G we've reached the two-minute warning and they will try to build on what has already been a dominant first half performance Johnson looking to throw wide open down field brought down at the 45 after a 15yd pickup now a first down from the 45 yd line he's looking to throw it and the pass it's picked off taking it the other way he's at the 10 he go out of K state has the ball back and the power cat offense returns to the field they'll throw it on first down caught near the sideline it's Jackson and there were no creases or to run through and they shove him out of bounds trying to get a rhythm in the passing game now on second down quarterback checking the play looking to pass on second down lowan wins and he just smashed him and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs [Applause] trying to find his man on first down throws to the wide out makes a connection just gashing this defense a big Gainer to the 40 yd line the wild cats getting set on First and 10 he's going to pass finds the tight end that's a really good tackle there giving up some and still making the play they'll line up for a second down play he's looking to throw got a in it's Jackson makes the tackle right at the 28 yd line pick up of five and they'll move the sticks everything seems to be working for this offense right now and if they keep this up this could get ugly by the fourth quarter they've got it the 30 at the 28 first down Johnson wants to throw it and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball now on second down couldn't connect on first down now back to the air he's takes it to the bunch formation trying to Spring a guy free they're going to open this drive with a pass grabbed over the middle it's Jackson he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down got the completion on the last play still some work to do on second down touch pass on the [Applause] run and he was Off to the Races finally tripped up at the 36 this offense absolutely humming as they come to the line again the give to the tail back just enough room to gain a couple down to the [Applause] picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down he's looking to throw grabbed behind the line it's G the defense wouldn't let him loose and even though it's a completion they lost yardage listen if I'm a QB second down I want to check the ball down and get a manageable third down but when this defense is flying around like this so fast closing out got that running back got him on the ground so fast the running back had nowhere to go strong pass rush gets to the quarterback and they get him at the 4 Kansas state will have tot it [Applause] away excellent on the and here comes the Kansas State offense back onto the field they had to putt it away on their last possession but man what great field position this time I mean this is awesome like last possession didn't go great now you're set up in an opportunity to get some points start thinking about what plays I like Jesse as I cross the 50 there are a lot of offensive coordinators out there David and in this position they like to take a shot right away and try and capitalize on this field position is about getting off the football that defensive line can be disrupted and get in the back field right away and mess up those pullers actions on those counter plays running the tap defense makes a but the change move and it's first andal from the eight new center Downs right on the doorstep for this offense a little pre-nap eye candy for the defense they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one when the offense gets in those multiple tight end looks you kind of have a good understanding of what's coming you don't know where the ball's going necessarily but they'll put those big old bodies in there to block to move people to put more mass on the field especially once you get in this red area where you have to and the ball is intercepted the 50 the 40 the 20 touchdown offense getting set for first down Johnson looking to throw fires to the big F stopped him at the 41 but that's a big pick up of 15 open the drive with a chunk play out past the 40 and they are in business on first down that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw just a short pass to the tight end he steps out of bounds but he's got enough for a first down really nice job there by the quarterback understanding it Blitz and not just that it's Blitz but knowing whether it's man coverage or Zone coverage behind the blitz You' still got to know answer is going to be based on what the defense is doing in the back end and he add the answer to the test right there trying to convert this second and [Applause] short he's looking to throw quarterback adapted caught near the sticks it's brown and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop and as a defense how scary is it having to defend this guy he's one of the fastest players in America and you saw it on that last play it's not necessarily throwing him the ball over your head they just get it to him quickly the hard part now is running and tackling that guy not easy to do got it and he will Score first down here for the offense they'll give it to the back they pick up half of it it'll be second and five it's going to be important this offensive line is able to get a little bit of push just got to give this guy an inch a little crease and he can make yards for it halfway there on first down it's second and five free snap Motion in the back field grab behind the line it's Edward they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first [Applause] down guys it's Kansas State who carries the lead into the quarter break and as we swich ends of the field let's take a quick look at the national ranking [Music] one quarter to go and might we have the makings of a classic fourth quarter finish they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first down used the play fake now to throw fires to the middle PS it in and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up Kansas State back after picking up the first [Applause] down from the Red Zone it's gens and the defense holds firm no pick up at all on that play got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 he's looking to throw pass rush gets there gets home gets him down at the 23 and a great job by the def dropping in zone coverage all eyes on the quarterback taking away the options and then finally the pass rush gets home gets him on the ground quite a bit of work to do on third down from the 23 and this D would love to force a field goal try getting some heat using the quick game touchdown Wilds white outs all wed up in a bunch he'll come out throwing on first down finds his tight end you'll take this every time five yard on the first down play I love an offense that wants to stay aggressive even when you've got the lead late in a game like this right you still try to find your Playmakers and get them the ball in space and that is exactly what this offense is doing just steam rolling his way through and he was loose and not stopped until he gets to the 47 yd line his offense lines up feeling awfully good after that big play going up top on first down they're bringing heat and he was hit just as he was releasing the pass and it falls to the ground incomplete it's hard throwing in the pocket man you got bodies and 300 lb dudes falling all over the place they're trying to hit you that time the pressure got him and it Force the incompletion a little time Let It Go the middle they get him down after Hees again third down coming up after the completion they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to adjust [Applause] back through the air one more time quick completion on the out route he's run out of bounds but he's got enough to move the sticks Kansas State really has this drive rolling Johnson wants to throw it quickly out to the tight end put it right on him sweet play good pick up and they'll move the change with the first down new set of down after that completion comes out throwing on first down looking down the middle complete downi and they make the connection and he's got it at the 10 yd line set up with a red zone opportunity and the wild CS have taken it inside the 20 they'll throw it on first down and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down the big tight end tries to make a catch could tell extends for the ball but great job by the defender getting in there making the hit dislodging the football out as the same time as he's going to catch it and the big tight end couldn't hold on to it right back up top on second and 10 he got it and he was pushing for that go line but the stopped him at the two this offense is not letting up guys they've got a lead here late and they are still taking shots they still looking for EXP this defense just has not had an answer here all game [Applause] long wants to throw on third might be looking to run and this one will be stopped for No Gain quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense they already have a comfortable lead up by multiple possessions but going to go for it here on fourth down try to get it on the ground he'll be stopped just of the end zone but they'll have it first and goal defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense a great chance to put this game away Kansas State and they they've got the Big Fellas out there a three tight end look on First and 10 they'll keep it on the ground they want this clock to move he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three time out called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible not what they had in mind to start this drive here comes second and 13 and it's incomplete but the penalty flag has fallen in the holding Zone let's see what the call [Applause] is amazing how many times an offensive holding penalty will stall a drive we'll see if the offense can overcome it all wide out no backs takes a as he lets it go and he makes the catch inside the 15 ripping off a huge chunk of yardage and he's got it just outside the 10 at the 11 they've got him wobbling after that big play now to pay it off on First and and the quarter caugh and sacked at the and that's exactly what this defense needed they needed to have something positive give up some yardage they given up some plays no big deal got right back in it on this drive with that big sack he's got the tight end good throwing catch takes it down to the five as the offense tries to in they'd love to pick up this third down and get a fresh set with first and goal Johnson looking to throw he wants it all right through his hands he had a touchdown and just didn't look the ball in it'll be fourth down so on fourth down here comes the field goal kicker in a huge spot plenty of fireworks in this one a lot of points they always talk about having the chalk last and it seemed like whoever was on offense had the last lap it's amazing how much offenses has just boomed in college football so good so many ways to hurt you and you saw both of these offenses put on the show today Jess Dave we talked to both of these coaching staffs and their defensive coordinators were losing sleep all week they knew this was going to be a task ahead of us so much speed so much Firepower on both of these offenses and man we
