e [Music] [Laughter] this is Tuscaloosa Alabama welcome to Bryant Denny Stadium home of the Crimson time this place is charged up and ready for a big game today both teams have circled this game on their schedule two of college football's Elite colliding here in a match up of top five teams early in the season as we'll see the number three team in the country the Florida Gators taking on the second ranked team the Alabama Crimson Tide Rea sports college football and Chris fer joined here in the booth by Kirk KB Street Kirk let's get to the action on the field [Music] [Applause] the gator will kick this away to start us off Turner looking to make a play here he gets to the 30 before stepping out [Applause] first down play call coming up how aggressive will it be a pop pass on the Jet Sweep Nowhere to Run him for no game this is a great job of being prepared by this defense almost anticipating this play they're in position to bring him down for a loss now it's second down here from the shotgun drops back SS a quick throw and a big game before he goes out of bounds the offense keeps churning gets a fresh set of downs you know Chris you think about it efficiency has always kind of been the description of a great Alabama quarterback man think about the playmakers that they've had over the last few years at this position Jaylen Tua Bryce young recently just a different level of quarterback play and really gives this offense Edge to it and he shoved out of B for the defense a first down marker well here the defense decided to sit back in Play Zone and that front didn't do a good job of pressuring the quarterback he had the time to make the throw when he put it on target back to throw again trying to create outside the pocket now nice grab it's Miller they bring him down just short of the marker inches away from the first down we in the age of the mobile quarterback and you saw it right there the ability to scram out of the pocket extend the play and make passes like that is invaluable to the [Applause] offense can they convert on third down to keep this drive rolling looking to pick up the first down through the air grab near the stick it's Miller stopped at the 43 this offense picks up another first down that's exactly what you want to see here from this offense a big third down conversion offensive line did their job giving a quarterback enough time great read good execution throws the ball accurately now you got some momentum going here on this opening drive finds room at the 30 tackle made to the 26 yd Line This offense getting closer to the Red Zone Chris I don't know there's just about that Bama uniform when they run the football it just feels right it's a combination of having those big offensive linemen a really physical Approach at the line of scrimmage and backs that are able to pick up first downs like that right there beautiful play Alabama has now moved into the red zone off play action he's looking to throw CAU quickly stiff arms the man he takes it in for the score touchdown Crimson TI oh just outstanding execution here by this offense the offensive line gives the quarterback time and the quarterback's anticipation was on point puts that ball right in the money the receiver all he had to do is turn and catch the ball for that touchdown kick out team is on the field the returner a chance to bring this one back bringing it out it's Hawkins solid cover there they get it at the 15 that's where the offense will take over just underway and this home crowd is fired up and ready to make a difference today here's a screen pass to the running back may wrap him up but the gain is good enough for a first down early on in a football game the offense always wants to try to develop just a nice Rhythm to the offense that time just a simple screen to the running back and they build some confidence on this first drive with a nice play looking to throw it's lague pass rush closing in cannot Escape that ferocious pass rush to sack another great play by an Alabama defensive lineman you just think about over the years probably the last 30 years going all the way back to John Copeland on that 1992 Alabama defense most recently guys like Jonathan Allen Ron Payne quinnon Williams you can always count on Bama having great defensive linemen and difference makers quarterback still with the football they'll force him out of bounds after a short run I think we can all see how tough it is to control this guy under center today for this defense but they did a nice job of keeping him contained but they've got to stay focused they can't get lazy because we can see him breaking one any moment against this defense on third down he drops to throw receiver looks it in it's complete they'll stop him short the completion gain five yards but brings up fourth down the Gators will send their pun team onto the field not the way he wanted to kick it they'll down this just inside the 35 [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] here comes the Alabama offense onto the field it's for a touch Center their last possession let's see if this defense can make adjustments and prevent that this time the pocket breaking down caught on the outside it's Miller runter scoots out of ounds after gaining decent yards this is what you love to see right quarterback does a nice job of looking and finding his open re receiver and he waits to the last possible second fact as he gets hit as he gets that ball out of his hand so good job of showing some strength and a good job with throwing with accuracy as he's taking that Hill tackled but only after picking up a fresh set of downs you know offensive linemen are just in certain breed they're always going to do their job no matter who's back there carrying the ball tell you what they have a little bit more confidence when the person that's carrying the ball can break off some big time runs that makes block just a little bit harder knowing what he's potentially capable he'll make his way out of bounds after gain decent yardage second down after that run on the previous Playas trying to flex the ground game here running back takes a hand off and the defense able to bring him down to wrap up the first quarter of play with the score Alabama Florida We Begin the quarter with a crucial play offense setting up for this third [Applause] down all carrier in space now they bring him down but an explosive play by this offense big game well they trust the running game on third down there and come up with a huge chunk play Chris to me it looked like the defense was just selling out to try to come up with a stop on third down and once the back got the yards he needed he looked a little bit surprised he was still on his feet and looked around and saw that he had room to run and picked up some big yards the gain is three now it's second down and well anytime you use your quarterback as a runner the goal was obviously to hit some big plays you got to be careful of letting your quarterback take too many big hits not only can he get tired he can also start to Fumble the football coming to the line on second down this is important they want to avoid a third and long quarterback making adjustments now to what the defense is showing offense switches it up here looking to throw the ball now he's moving out of the pocket what he score here and he gets to the end zone touchdown Alabama extra point try coming [Music] now the kick sails through so the lead is 14 number here's a kickoff team let's see if they give the return or opportunity to bring this back fielded in the end zone it's Hawkins he stopped at the 19 good job by the coverage team and the Florida offense is back out on the field now the last possession they were forced to kick it away and they finally get things going this time here's the handoff they'll tackle him right at the 25 yd line great job by the offensive line here opening up some holes and giving the running back room to run on first down plays like this the playbook for the play caller allow him to make that defense think they going to run maybe play action maybe throw the ball down field running with purpose that's a big game before he goes out of bounds it'll move the sticks more than enough for a first down well Chris you think about over the years with the Gators and their offense it's always about Steve scer and spreading it out and fun and gun and attacking down field I think these great gator teams they have an ability to do what we just saw right here pick up a first down on the round lying on offensive line and their running back incompletion makes it second [Applause] down dropping back it's leg way and he's brought down offense going backwards with the sa a really good job by this defense the quarterback looked to be trying to work through his progressions to find his open receiver but before he knew it he's on his back the offense now facing a third and long from the 26 got to avoid a mistake here and it falls incomplete the defensive pressure hurried to throw that time I see what the quarterback's trying to do here he's holding on to that football to the last possible second to give that play a chance but he held it just a little bit too long the defense is able to hit him to force that incompletion and the return brought down by the coverage team [Music] Alabama's offense coming back onto the field this group has been picking they really built momentum can the defense make adjustments come up with a stop here quarterback making some changes at the line first down looking to throw the football quarterback leaves the pocket on the Move now he's found some room at the 45 heads out of bounds after another big gain and a first down this defense has not been able to stop the quarterback run today quarterback drops back pressure is coming that's just thrown away I don't think he's going to get away with that yeah here comes the flag offense getting set it's second down they snap it quarterback looking to throw the ball grab down the middle it's Miller great footwork a big opening now breaks clear End Zone ahead finally get him way down at the two nice pitch and catch boy a huge play by this offense a good throw nice accurate throw but I think it's the after the catch that really impresses me and early in this game you got to think they're going to continue to go back to him until this defense shows that they can slow him down the junior able to bring him down quickly Alabama comes up to the line quickly Quick Pass here comes a Jet Sweep and he will score touch down B they'll try to add to the lead now with the [Applause] [Music] p attack on the Pat and it's 21 nothing getting set to kick the ball off now bringing it out it's Hawkins they stop him at the 23 that's solid coverage and the will take first and the Florida offense retakes the field the last Drive they came up empty had to kick it away can they come up with something here catch made on the right side they stopped the receiver but that's a solid gain in that play defenses all around the country got to do a better job at keeping an eye on these little guys from the SL they can dismantle a defense with their speed and quickness in the open space important second down play coming up linebackers maybe trying to confuse the line with some movement pre- snap motion from the offense they flip it to him on the Jet Sweep B carrier heads out of bounds but the pickup is good enough to move the chains first down a nice little Simple Touch pass here by the quarterback getting the ball out to the receiver Who's In Motion look that doesn't turn into a huge play but they do pick up a first down and no offense is ever going to say no to move in the chains off the play fake looking to throw and he's going to stretch the defense taking a deep shot here and it's intercepted he stepped in front of that bullet can he take it all the way return following the pick they're finally able to get him down what great Hands by the defender to take that ball away and pretty much steal it from the intended receiver I don't know if I'd be targeting that Defender very many more times here comes a first down pass attempt going for a big play downfield deep ball is caught for a huge gain here finally brought down to the 12 an explosive play puts him in great scoring position Alabama now operating in the Red Zone quarterback appears to be changing the play first down looking to throw the ball quarterback looks to his right and finds his man brought down at the five after the catch the offense really threatening now you see more more offenses in college football going to three receivers and the slot receiver a lot of times can become the go-to guy he gets mismatches against either touchdown TI this offense really click it well that's a well oiled machine right there everyone on this offense has been a star in their roles when they're rolling like this results in quick and positive results point after up and good pickoff team is on the field to boot this one [Applause] away fielded In The End Zone it's Hawkins tackled at the 14 not very good field position to start here the gator offense retakes the field they're in a hole here before they have a chance to regroup at halftime let's see if they can cut into this big lead defense is coming after him I can't believe the amount of pressure this defense is getting on this quarterback sack after sack what you got to think about changing things up the snap count the scheme anything at all to help this offensive line they're overmatched so far in this game second and long for this offense after the sack looks to the left for a quick throw he pulls in the catch they bring him down that's a very solid game but still well short of the first down and now the defense will call a timeout here there's something they didn't like about that look and they'll make an adjustment before this important play and he'll drop back here on third down looking to make a play deep down field makes the grab with the right side for a big game and a huge game before he scores out of bounds big yardage to set up a fresh set of downs how about that receiver had nobody around him that's frankly embarrassing for this defense when you let someone deep down field go completely uncovered looking to throw it on first down quarterback MO moving out of the pocket trying to create finds the receiver wide open TouchDown Gators strong game by this quarterback what think I cooked up for this two-point conversion [Applause] attempt back to pass it's leg way and the sophomore a little bit too much air under that throw defense not fooled at all there nice job of stepping up and stopping that two-point conversion so the offense getting some momentum before halftime on the touchdown now they kick off and O the defense can get a quick [Applause] stop bringing it out it's Hamilton and he stopped at the 20 tried to make something happen that's good coverage there first in [Music] 10 so here comes the Alabama offense back onto the field interesting position here how aggressive do they get try to add to this lead before halftime that's caught it's Miller Au calls a timeout here that's their third and final of the half the running back that time just kind of sneaks out of the back field and shows his hands on nice catch pass caught second down now looks like the QB is changing the play at the line he look to throw it here on second down he's escaping the pocket now scrambling now he'll make the throw and it's picked off threw it across his body and paid the price going the other way can they catch him it's a big return off the int they steal their offensive possession he didn't really seem to feel like he had anybody open just puts it up in the air and the defense says thank you we'll take it first and goal a good chance to chip away at the lead before halftime quarterback looking to connect with the receiver here on the run here lets it go and he makes it into the end zone touchdown Florida off is out there here comes a two-point conversion attempt back to throw it's lagway makes the catch for the two-point conversion as they continue to cut into this lead so after the touchdown here's the kickoff and we'll see if the opposing offense has time to answer before halftime fielded In The End Zone it's Hamilton tackled at the 13 not great field position to start the [Music] drive take first so the offense takes the field in the final seconds of the half chance for just a couple more plays ball handed off moves the ball across the 20 to the 22 just time up for one more play in the half he'll run it here they get him down what will be the final play of this first half and that will do it for the first half here Kevin Connor now has our halftime update Alabama will kick it off to start the second half [Applause] and the Florida offense is back out on the field [Music] now first play of the third quarter is a handoff they'll stop him behind the line for a loss of one went backwards on first down so second and long from the 24 Looking to throw it's lagway makes a quick catch they bring him down but the drive has now reached the 35 tackle made but the sophomore quarterback showing us the arm strength a new set of downs after that completion on First and 10 they'll look to throw it breaks free he escapes one man but he'll be swall it up with the play and take it down as expected this Alabama defense is laying the W and living in the back field of their opponent such upfield speed it's [Music] dangerous went backwards on first down so second and long from the 24 they'll run it out of the shotgun Breaking Free at the 35 and they bring him down after a solid gain but it's still well short of the first down [Applause] Mark third down the offense desperately needs a conversion here trailing in the third quarter dropping back we going to throw for the first down caught over the middle it's Daniels he's brought down just short of a marker on that play good job by the defense to prevent the first down fourth down he's throwing for it they can't connect to costly turnover on Downs well the ball's close to Midfield and this offense is trying to get things going here in the second half I understand the aggressive mindset but this one could cost here comes the Crimson Tide offense onto the field and there's the handoff puts some space around the 30 touchdown Crimson TI still no answer for this offense now they line up to Pi the extra point and the extra point makes it a three touchdown lead the kickoff team on the field now as they get set to send this one away bringing it out it's Hawkins that's strong coverage there they tackle him at the 11 yd line fresh set down for the offense first down linebackers trying to confuse this offense now and he Lofts it toward the sideline that one is incomplete took a downfield shot on first down but missed it the offensive coordinator told us before the game they consider any one-on-one deep shot an advantage they couldn't connect on that try give credit to that defensive back man he played that perfect so second down after the incompletion secondary up now trying to Jam these receivers looking to pass it's lagway looks to his left and makes the completion tackle made at the 23 as they gain some important breathing R defense kind of lost the running back here makes a nice catch gets the first down in the process first down here for this offense off the play fake looking to throw he's moving out of the pocket looks like he's going to run it second down play coming up for this offense Back In Motion now second down they're going to throw it hit as he releases it and the pass ball is incomplete Chris this offensive coordinator is going to have to adjust we've seen hits and sacks and pressure on this quarterback all game long they've got to find a solution to create more time for the quarterback to be able to throw the football or maybe completely overhaul and change what they're doing on offense Toops back looking to throw for it on third down he's going to take off quarterback gets down to avoid the tackle well Chris that's a great example of why we see these college football coaches bringing in baseball coaches to teach these quarterbacks how to slide in key situations you want to protect your franchise guy make sure he doesn't get hurt that's exactly what he did on that play a perfect slide to avoid the big hit looking to throw it deep downfield shot balls incomplete couldn't quite connect there love this aggressive mindset from the quarterback and offensive coordinator found the match up that you wanted take a shot down field you don't hit it but you made the defense be aware of it looking to set up a screen pass here and uses his speed to pick up solid yardage theator hustle to the line to run the hurry up well this is great execution here on this screen play of the running back to pick up big yards in the first down I think in the process Chris they send a message to the defense and you can Rush our quarterback all you want but when you do better be careful cuz you want to throw the screen on you defense with pre-step movement of its own looking down field it's lagway he'll take a deep shot oh that one's pick off look out he's got some space and he'll be taken down but after a good return boy with this quarterback love to have this one back they're trying to work themselves back into this game here second half and the defense comes up with a big turnover that could be the nail in the coffin they'll try the ground game here with the running back that's a nice wrap up there by the junior the era that we live in right now everybody wants to spread the field around try to create space try to create one-on-one matchups and the defense has countered over the years by trying to play out wide but here's a great example the defense has the ability to play wide but still be solid at the line of scrimmage and not give up big run plays that run sets up an important third down call for this offense they'll try to run for the first down looks like Alabama will have the first down line getting set up it's a first down play how impressive these guys been up front today big third down know what you need to do get the first down continue to hold on to that lead he's going for a big play downfield catch made all the way down inside the five marked out of bounds but it's another big game this offense producing chunk plays through the air this Alabama offense is moving quickly down the field and looking to throw now on first down you missfire in the pass as time in the period Runs Out Alabama 35 Florida 14 here we go first play of the quarter offense setting up for a second down play and he's back to throw again after they didn't completion on first down CAU behind the line it's hail brought down for a loss after the completion not what they were looking for on a wide receiver screen with a corner that tight you've got to do a good job of blocking him or screening him nobody there and the quick reaction by the corner allows him to make a nice play the pass is offet and hit as he through as the third down Pressure Works so now on comes the field goal unit the attempt from 47 yds and he's got it from 47 yds away showing off the deep range after adding three more points to the lead they're set to kick it off I was watching this guy in pregame he has got a strong leg not surprised here he's able to put three points up here for the offense tackle at the 13 not great field position to start the drive and the Florida offense retakes the field they had it going on the last drive but it ended abruptly with the interception let's see what they can do here they'll stop him behind the line for a Los of one Chris I'll be really honest with you I don't know why they continue to try to run the football I'm all about balance I'm all about trying to make sure a defense has to defend the run and the throw but at this point in the game they haven't been able to run the ball they're going to have to go through the air if they're going to come back and take the lead in this game at some point they bring him down right at the 20 these quarterbacks today in the college game were so athletic they can beat you with their arm obviously just when you think you have them figured out they tuck theall ball and go I'd expect this defense to put in a spy to keep this quarterback from running takes the snap and takes off on the Run oh and he fumbles bounces past the sideline out of bounds they avoid the turnover there oh my gosh Chris you can almost feel a collective sigh of relief coming from the offensive sideline as that ball rolled out of bounds the offense catches a break one more Awkward bounce that ball May in bounds and the defense has a recovery so down by multiple possessions here the offense will try to convert here on fourth down and they heave it deep down field the Deep shot is caught for a big game oh and he's in the clear now it's a foot race touchdown Gators just ran away from the defense number 11 C now the try for the two-point conversion [Applause] scanning the field it's lagway and they've got him behind the line the two-point TR fails and they can't get any closer I believe they're lining up to attempt an onside kick and the H Team able to make the crucial recovery here comes the Alabama offense onto the field they settled for a field goal last time out they're looking for the End Zone here no doubt on the ground it's Ferguson what a move goes right through the tackle he's got room to run now that's a strong run they finally tackle him down at the four well that's what you love to see from an offense the offensive line and the running back in sync working together and it pays off what a big gain thought he might be close to be able to take it all the way to the end zone but the defense just brings him down there inside the five that's the wide receiver coming in motion now and the quarterback tucks it and takes off as a designed run touchdown Alabama this one is getting [Music] ugly now the important point after attempt now the defense appeared to jump before the snap and the flag comes out the offense will obviously decline that penalty and take the result of the play try to add the lead now with the p the defensive penalty is declined offense very happy to take the result of that [Music] play offense is out there they're going to go for two here [Applause] play action fake looking to throw and he's got it so the two-point try is successful and they build the lead even further here's the kickoff team Now set to boot this one away fielded In The End Zone it's Hawkins and he stopped at the 20 tried to make up happen but that's good coverage there the Gator's offense retakes the field first play of the drive to come out throwing quarterback on the move trying to make something happen they can't slow him down refuses to be stopped heads out of bounds after a solid gain more than enough to pick up a first down man nothing is more aggravating for a defensive coordinator than this right here you've got him you got a chance to make a play on him take him out of his rhythm but instead this guy gets away from that pressure tucks it and picks up some big wow a third pick tonight by the QB going the other way can they stop him inside the 10 touchdown Bama wow what a play a defensive score but they try to add to the lead now it's a fake bat looking to throw for it and the pass will fall incomplete on the scramble attempt good coverage there kickoff team has come on the field now to send this one away and from Deep In The End Zone he'll bring it out they stop him at the 11 not good field position to start the drive and the Florida offense is back out on the field now they have got to bounce back on this possession after thr a pick six last time out here off the play fake looking to throw on first down he's moving out of the pocket now sack dropped at the three that takes the win right out of your Sals this off to find a way to get back into this game and another pressure and a sack against their quarterback first down sack pushes the ball back second down coming up different pre- snap look from the linebackers now to go with the ground game here running back takes the hand off he's wrapped up nicely there by the Freshman see that's how you limit what an offense wants to do this time the defense just won the battle up front at the line of scrimmage not giving up any big plays everybody's Gap sound it's really solid defense on that play that's the two-minute warning here this offense desperate to cut into this lead and then try to get the football back well a serious challenge for this offense you don't want to be in third and long inside your own 20 how much of a risk will they take to try to pick up this first down bites off a Defender Chris as this clock winds down it has been a rough day for this offense just unable to get anything going you hope they're able to go back look at the film try to learn from the mistakes and come out the next week looking much better than they did today down late they'll keep the offense on the field trying to chip away at this lead taking a shot here this one Falls incomplete the defense makes a fourth down stop well this decision clearly backfires on this offense backed up inside their own 10 yd line and you go for it I mean I get being aggressive but that's just not smart football and that's a solid gain for the defense able to bring him down Alabama comes up to the line quickly offense moving receivers around now before the snap that's a designed quarterback keeper touchdown tied to stretch the lead the route is on that's another touchdown for these guys and they have had a day that you dream about whether it's the quarterback the running back the receivers the offensive line the entire unit has been dominant and the extra point splits the uprights now the kickoff team is out on the field bringing it out it's Hawkins tackled at 14 not very good field position to start here the Florida offense retakes the field this one has been a beat down for the ages a demolition an evisceration looking a scramble time is running out they'll take a deep shot oh and he can't quite hang on almost the fourth interception he's thrown today up second down looking to pass it's lague running out of time in the pocket we pressure him and Sack and he'll be tackled inside the 10 it is a sack party out there for this defense everything going their way you know that this offense is going to try to throw the football down by such a big margin late in the game and this defensive line is bringing the heat they come up with another sack using the ground game here tailback has the hand off [Applause] they tackle him behind the line a loss of four timeout called by the defense their first of the half as they try to make some adjustments here well they keep trying to run the football and they keep getting dominated at the line of scrimmage that has been a theme throughout this entire game we've talked about it earlier in the game it's not changing at all they become onedimensional and I think it's allowed this defense that really lock in on that quarterback the gator will line up to kick it away it's a rough drive for the offense hter comes on and Boot It Away no wasn't alert enough didn't get the play off that'll cost him five yards obviously the defense will decline that penalty on the offense and take the result of that play the Gators will have to kick it away that's a rough series for the offense and now he's on to pun it away and the ball is away from inside the 10 here's the fair catch by The Return [Music] Man first down play call how aggressive will it be look come out throwing here to start the drive here's a shot toward the End Zone oh it is incomplete he flat out dropped what would have been a touchdown second down coming up now really good job here by the defense in coverage did a nice job here of staying in Phase with the receiver there's no chance for a completion at all looking to pass here on second down he's going to take another shot right here catch made down inside the 25 they bring him down but a big chunk of yardage on the play Alabama comes up to the line [Music] quickly on First and 10 here looking to throw the ball he's running out of time here the freshman's able to get home with a sack a late timeout taken just four seconds on the [Applause] clock Alabama that sack sets up a second down and long [Applause] they'll change the pre- snap look now quarterback wants to throw it on second down catch made on the out bout and a timeout is taken with just one second remaining in the game so now it's third and short from the 23 potential four down territory let's see what the third down call is [Applause] bringing pressure the pass Falls incomplete as the game comes to a close this one ended up being a blowout but they get the W but they also make a pretty strong statement here today I thought this game would be a lot closer at least closer than how things ended up but give credit to this team for coming out with a good game plan and just
