College football 25 Road to Glory Oklahoma State

[Music] [Music] welcome everybody to what should be a memorable experience for everybody here in the building the Big 12 championship game has a history of wild dramatic finishes and based on this match up today could be in for another one this is a matchup we've all been waiting for two teams ranked in the top five battling for a precious conference title but also pointing to something even bigger the college football playoff as we'll see the number three team in the country the Kansas State Wildcats taking on the winners of 12 straight the Oklahoma State Cowboys for EA Sports college football I'm Chris Fowler joined here in the booth by Kirk Herm Street Kirk let's get to the action on the field [Applause] big guys up front lined up it's first down free- snap motion from the receiver a pop pass on the Jet Sweep that's a solid game moves the ball to the 29 boy I'm a big fan of that Jet Sweep motion like that it really forces a defense to stretch them out horizontally and could create some vertical scams for this offense they got some positive yards didn't quite get the first down but tell you what they've done planted a seed on this defense and they better defend this style play moving forward so it's third long from the 29 the defense play coverage or Blitz off play action he's looking to throw here comes a deep shot deep ball is caught for a huge gain here potentially a touchdown saving tackle but not before a long completion that is great arm strength and accuracy by this quarterback let's not forget the wide receiver job of bringing it in for that big game hand off from the shotgun aiming for the end zone and he runs it in for the score touchdown Cowboys we've got a conference Championship on the line here what a start for the offense man I just want to give a lot of credit to the quarterback in the offensive line they really set the tone here on this and the Oklahoma State offense is back out on the field they scored a touch Center their last possession let's see if this defense can make adjusts prevent that this time he stop him right at the 24 nice job here of controlling the line of scrimmage by this offensive line the back does what he needs to do to get positive yards on first down out the play fake he'll look to throw it he'll take a deep shot the ball is picked off look out he's got some space refusing to be brought down that's a potential Game Changer the pi and the big return boy great Hands by the defender to take that ball away and pretty much steal it from the intended receiver I don't know if I'd be targeting that Defender very many more times [Music] [Applause] and the Oklahoma State offense is back out on the field this offense trying to bounce back the last possession anded in a pick first play of the drive looking to throw the football trying to extend the play the senior calls his own number and picks up the first down this is why I love quarterbacks that can make things happen here you have an opportunity to try to create nothing's there play breaks down instead of just throwing it away he sits back sees nothing down field decides to be able to pick up the first down by himself impressive run to pick up the first keep this drive moving Oklahoma state has the lead here we'll check out the stats now through the opening period back at it to start the quarter offense getting set to run a first down Play Shotgun formation here's an inside handoff finding enough space for a solid game before the stop great job by the offensive line here opening up some holes and giving the running back room to run on first down plays like this can open up the playbook for the play caller allow him to make that defense think are they going to run maybe play action maybe throw the ball down field the Cowboys will have first and 10 here I tell you to be able to pick up a nice gain like that those offensive linemen have to sustain their blocks gave them a chance at a really nice game quarterback leaves the pocket on the Move now it's intercepted threw it across his body and he'll be taken down but after a good return love this quarterback's athletic ability and the way he can create Vis unfortunately here he and the Oklahoma State offense takes the field they had some good things going in the last drive but it ended suddenly with the pick Let's see what they can do here looking for the wide out caught over the middle it's Andrews he'll be taken down but he does have first down yardage after the first play they're very close to Midfield already he'll hand it off the senior able to make the stop after a short game the defensive coordinator this week all telling us about Gap Integrity not giving this running back any creases at all really sound defense on that play breaks L at the 40 oh and he breaks free it's a foot race no stopping him takes it all the way touchdown Oklahoma State so the first play of the drive coming up here under three minutes to play before half and the ball is handed off out of the [Applause] shotgun he reachs the two minute warning here let's see if this offense can build on this big lead before halftime second down play coming up off the play fake looking to throw the football let should go on the Move launching deep but this one is broken up balls incomplete well that's going to go down as an incompletion obviously but I like that the quarterback showed his ability to escape broke loose from the pocket and put the ball on a string just wasn't able to come up with that completion on third down he drops to throw B some time now lets it Go makes the catch it's Fields it'll be enough for a first down brought down at the 43 that's a great feeling when a quarterback can make a throw it keeps the drive a lot not as good as a touchdown but it's a lot better than having the Trot over to the sideline waiting for your turn to get another chance looking to throw it on first down on the junior gets home making a sack there I love to see defenses be aggressive they dial up the heat on this play brought the linebacker on the blitz and they get to the quarterback he's moving out of the pocket he's found some room at the 45 finally brought down e moves it to the 44 well here's a quarterback that just takes control for himself picking up some nice yards when nothing else is there this guy's a real threat he's hit as he throws it it's incomplete he was hit as he threw good pass rush there on first down offense lines up for a second down play off the incompletion drops back from the shotgun looking for an open man he's going to take off finds room at the 30 tackle is finally made but not before a big gain they'll spot it at the four the offense really clicking here first down looking to throw the football he's moving out of the pocket now looking to scramble and it's incomplete even in a first down throw he was under some heavy pressure B set here's second [Applause] down bakes the hand off looking to throw lets it Go quickly and he's got his man open down field they stop him at the four but it sets up this offense with a first and goal the Cowboys looking to punch it in here it's first and goal this defense has got to do a better job in coverage if they want to get off the field anytime soon you keep defending like that and this offense could have 50 on you by the end of this game touchdown Cowboys Wills his way to the end zone [Applause] this line getting set up it's a first down play they'll run it out of the shotgun breaks loose at the 45 out of bounds after another big gain on the ground this running game has been Unstoppable today it's a solid run gives the offense a first down and a new set of downs here's the snap looking to throw [Applause] and he's taken down way behind the line it'll be a huge loss here the sack sets up a second down and very long the offense will take their first time out of the half let talk strategy here and Sack sets up a second down and long here's the snap looking to throw here he'll take a deep shot here caught way down field for a huge gain he stopped just short of that first down marker inches away from it offense gets set up here it's third down try and muscle for the first down oh look at the quick cut game moves it to the 24 that's a fresh set of downs how impressive these guys been up front today big third down know what you need to do get the first down continue to hold on lead continue to work clock and get that much closer to securing a victory quarterback looking to scramble the defense gets him but it's a first down shows you how tight end's a wide open receiver complete they bring him down but that is a huge play for this passing game big game what a pitch and catch by the quarterback and receiver for a big gain for this offense first down here for this offense trying to find some room it's Fields they tackle him looks like it's going to be just of the away yard just trying to be Father's a daughter and son to their mother to everyone I don't do money all the glory I just do it anyway for our F our responsibility make something happen even when all receivers are covered everything's taken away you take it quickly but a big sh play for this offense through the air and you just continue to see the chemistry between these two and they told us yesterday in our production meeting they spent hours and hours of working and developing that chemistry and that Rhythm by throwing together throughout those summer months and man it's starting to really pay off he's become he's going for a big Play Down field this one is broken up and Falls incomplete well Chris the offense takes a shot down field and this Defender does a great job of making a play on the ball not only that he tips that ball up into the air good chance for the defense to come up with an interception there challenging spot for the off third down and L in the 45 dropping back they going to throw for the first down quarterback escapes the pocket and takes off catch made a lot of space now great footwork a big opening now they bring him down but an explosive play by this offense big game oh a huge play by this offense a good throw a nice accurate throw but I think it's the run after the catch that really impresses me early in this game you got to think they're going to continue to got space looking to score you'll make it into the end zone touchdown Cowboy and the Oklahoma State offense takes the field let's see if he can keep that passing game going the last position very efficient and precise close to the tight end complete downfield they bring him down but a big chunk of yardage on the play you know in these spread offenses the game just keeps evolving and the opportunities keep presenting themselves for the big guys to be able to run a corner rout so hard to cover this here comes a first down pass attempt he'll throw it now quarterback finds an open Target on the left side they've got him but that completion good enough for first down yardage Chris that's another positive game for this offense and this quarterback continues to show why he's had such a great year this year when he has time to throw he gets his feet set he's as accurate as any quarterback in the country first down play call coming up how aggressive will it be here's the snap quarterback drops back he cannot Escape defense with a sack I love this defense and how they're playing some man coverage and let's face it when you do that it's a bit risky you can leave your defensive backs out there on Islands but the good combination of good coverage with a good pressure on the quarterback and you come up with sacks like this looking to make a play deep down field catch made inside the 10 touchdown Oklahoma State just ran away from the defense Chris as you know anytime you hit a big post route like this for a touchdown the timing between the quarterback and the receiver is essential nice job of not waiting too long quarterback takes a hitch gets the ball out ear and the Cowboys offense is back out on the field already a two- possession lead here let's see if they continue to call it a e e e e e e e e e and try to put this defense in a bigger hole on First and 10 they'll look to throw it on the Move looking deep defense breaks it up nice play incomplete the defense better aggressive here themselves clearly we're seeing an approach by this offense that they're going to attack down field probably saw something in the first half that they could take advantage of they come out early and try to hit it for a big one running out of time in the pocket looks like he's going to run it breaking free at the 35 they finally get him down but that is a huge play quarterback doing it with his legs and it is fun to watch this guy get out in the open field I didn't realize he could run like this that's a big gain for this offense and looking to throw now on first down he's looking deep here it's caught on the left side for a huge gain and he finally steps out of bounds after a huge gain it'll be first down and goal backto back big plays defense is reeling set up first and goal now the shotgun running play call that's a nice tackle there by the senior it's a second and goal play for the offense he try to muscle toward the end zone on the ground and he runs it into the end zone touchdown Cowboys he guys up front lined up it's first down they go with the ground game here running back takes the hand off the gain moves the ball to the 34 well the offense goes with a counter play here and the defense does a pretty good job of slowing it down again you got to be disciplined on defense just when you think they're running on the front side they run that counter play and you better be home on the back side going to run it it's Fields he's brought down but it's a first down slotted near the 41 a running play keeps the off press set of [Applause] downs here comes a handoff brought down but the gain moves the ball all the way to the plus 42 boy how about that play Chris that just opened up the back shot through there with great acceleration what a pickup there on first down offense comes up to the line they might have a chance for a couple more plays before the quarter expires oate has the lead here as we' reach the end of three time is running out it is crucial contest for both these programs to stay alive in the Quest for a national championship let's check out the game summary before we move on back at it to start the quarter offense getting set to run a first down [Applause] play ball handed off get some space around the 30 and he's brought down not before he gets first down yardage you got to do what you got to do you got to rely on that offensive line in the running game here to be able to secure a victory good call and just keep working that clock that's incomplete even on a first down pass attempt he felt heavy pressure so after the incompletion it's second close to the go line and the cowboy trying to punch it in it's first and goal on the ground try to punch it in for the score he Powers into the end zone touchdown Oklahoma his line getting set up it's a first down play pre- snap motion from the offense from the shotgun hand off inside oh got to Showcase his spin move but dropped quickly after just a short game what's the play call here on second down for this offense fakes the hand off here looking to throw it fires it to the wide out grab down the middle it's Andrew oh and nothing but green grass ahead they're not going to get him he's in touchdown Cowboys and the Oklahoma State offense is back out on the field this has been a dominant performance so far up double digits at the break building on the lead here in the second half trying to create outside the pocket now finds a man down field that's a big gain to the right stop made at the five offense will have first and goal now the offense knocking on the door here with a first and goal that wasn't alert enough didn't get the play off that'll cost him five yards delay of [Music] game and the delay of game penalty will push the offense back five the offense in scoring position with a new set of downs and they'll work the clock here by keeping it on the ground bule out of bounds close to the end zone love those positive yards on First and 10 and it's not quite a first down looks like it'll bring second in inches but touchdown Oklahoma State to stretch the lead the first down play play call how aggressive will it be from the shotgun it's a handoff finds room at the 30 oh and he's in the clear now it's a foot race touchdown [Applause] Cowboys fresh set of downs for the offense first down on the ground it's Fields they'll stop him behind the line for a loss of one man I've gotten so conditioned here now that we're in the fourth quarter to see this guy get the football just get more positive yards finally this afternoon the defense steps up says enough is enough and they come up with a nice tackle they bring him down but a solid run there by the sophomore first and 10 play coming up [Applause] of course in the playoffs is a survive and Advance this is a crucial W great performance but now the stage gets even bigger the challenges will continue going forward yeah more and more pressure will grow as this team continues to win football games but you and I have been around this team all year long so impressed with the emotions and how they're able to contain themselves stay focused on the task at hand they did that again today they Advance cannot wait to last fertile to clear before that national championship game and today we're going to find out who's got the toughness and the depth to continue their Drive and keep Championship dreams alive as we'll see the number four seed in this playoff the boisey State Broncos taking on the top seated team in the playoff the Oklahoma State Cowboys for EA Sports college football I'm Chris fer joined by Kirk CB street it's been a tremendous college football playoffs so far and it's down to this the semifinals which team will head on to the national championship game [Applause] first down here for this offense they'll come out throwing here to start the drive contact as he threw it it's incomplete he was hit as he thre good pass rush there on first down when this quarterback's trying to do everything he can to give this play a chance he gets out of the pressure off to his right but man did he take a hit and wasn't able to complete this pass the offense will quickly spend a time out here after the play incomplete second down coming up play action fake looking to throw going to take off here get some space around the 30 and they make the tackle but that's a huge chunk play on the scra he saw an opening and just went for it man this quarterback can play the game he can throw and as we see here he can run the football the defense does everything that they need to with the pressure they look like they're in good position to be able to come up with a nice play on him but instead he shows how he can slip out of the back door of this defense and pick up a nice game first down and 10 now off the play fake looking to throw quarterback moving out of the pocket trying to create that one Falls incomplete good defensive play brings up second down and the quarterback looking to make a play through the air going for a big play downfield that deep shot is caught for a big game the defense is spread all over the field creating some one-on-one matchups and a quarterback makes him pay for it takes the hand off an Neil head left that's a strong stiff arm tackle made after a solid run by the junior oh this is exactly what you want to see as an offense to open up a football game everything seems to be working whether they're running the football as we saw right there able to protect throw the football in timing and Rhythm everything on full display for this offense he gets to the end zone touchdown Oklahoma State the quarterback who can escape and the Oklahoma State offense is back out on the field really excellent possession last time the mix the run the pass kept the defense off balance and to a touchdown it's a short game but look at that defense swarmed to the football Christino has spread ER over the years has always grown offensively but what I've been always impressed with defenses that really build their defense to play in space still have an ability to be sound at the line of scriage and defend a running game it's exactly what we saw right there first down play call coming up how aggressive will it be well Kirk Oklahoma state has the lead here and the first quarter is in the books but is a huge opportunity for both these programs to get a step closer to a national [Music] championship we expect the teams have worked through some of the nerves of this playoff game as we begin the second quarter big guys up front lined up it's first down trying to find room it's fields and the defense able to hold him there to a short game let listen you always have to have big plays to be successful it's a nice solid gain here keeps you on schedule just like running backs quarterbacks will they decide the the ball down and run they've got to protect it he left it out away from his body exposed and it got knocked away very fortunate a team was he having a great day it's going to give this quarterback a chance to hit some big plays down field off play action INE hee that was beautiful and the Cowboys offense first play of the D going throw [Music] theball 43 yd is going one already the 40 first and 10 catch from the shotgun drops back he pulls it in for a big gain explosive gain across Midfield he spotted about the 35 big chunk play this offense operating at Peak [Music] efficiency they'll hand it off in the clear the 25 they stop him at the 23 this offense is getting close to the Red Zone it's an important first down on that running play try to catch the defense with the [Music] draw got a lane can he get in touchdown okahoma all he think [Music] it's ineo to the line to crank up the tempo so the off backwards yard there this running back's had a big night kind of night you dream about but the defense finally steps up and gets to him behind the line of scrimmage offense facing a third and long from the 28 got to have your pass protection in order on this Play here's the throw deep downfield deep ball is caught for a huge gain here touchdown Cowboys stretching the lead this one is getting UG and the Oklahoma State offense is back out on the [Applause] field first down with going to throw the ball he'll take a deep shot here caught way down field for a huge gain touchdown Oklahoma State and the beat down continues aren't you taught on defense [Applause] KK that's a great performance in a pressure moment but now the job gets even more exciting even bigger as they go on to the national championship game and play for that Trophy and this is a new era I mean think about the weeks the amount of games that these guys have been able to play and they be able to accomplish this to get to the National Championship that says everything about the endurance of this football team both mentally and physically and they get one more hurdle to see if they can become the national champs and that is going to
