welcome to the Port City Mobile Alabama home to the South Alabama Jaguar at Hancock Whitney stadium and we have been fired up about this match all week little gets the blood boiling quite like a rivalry game barbs shots trash talk things that go on throughout the week will now all be settled on this field as we'll see a team fresh and ready to go off of by week the Troy Trojans taking on a team who is rested and ready coming off of by the south Alabama Jaguar 48 sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the booth by David poock and Jesse Palmer and guys let's get this thing started and the Trojans will get us underway with the opening kickoff you'll call for the fair catch here [Music] [Applause] [Music] offense getting set for first [Music] [Applause] down quick release on the RPO and they finally haul him down but not before the good catch and run yeah and what a nice job seeing it reacting and throwing it when you run these rpos you want to read the defense really quickly is he playing Run Okay boom I'm going to throw the slant right behind him nice job by the QB open a drive like that it opens a world of possibilities first down from the 43 give to the running back at the 45 on it way he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense I bet that running back's eyes got so big when he gets that hand off going to the right and he sees the huge holes yes please the defense just didn't flow quickly enough all of the blockers had leverage on their men and that defensive line has to get off the ball a little bit better get some penetration to stop that outside run might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again he gets it across the 255 to the 24 give him five on the carry I know that wasn't a big huge play and everybody's not excited and the fans aren't going crazy but those are the plays that in the fourth quarter matter a lot again making you tackle my back making you feel the physicality of the football game throughout so you get tired and get worn down in the fourth quarter halfway there on first down it's second and five get oh what a grab by the defense he'll try to take it back the 40 pass the 30 he's at the 10 and he has taken it all the way back touchdown Troy touchdown Troy what a play by this defense with the pick six and how about the defender exactly what you're supposed to do breaks on the football makes the interception everybody on defense we turn to offense go lay some blocks so my guy can get get it and take it back to the house and the extra point makes it seven nothing they're lining up to kick it off after the pick six and that defense will come out feeling it on the move from inside is [Applause] five he's able to sneak his way across the 20 and step out at the [Applause] [Music] [Applause] 21 guys we'll have another look at this South Alabama offense this possession will be a test after squandering that long drive throwing a pick six Jesse you're right reys well I think this is really dependent too on the leaders in this huddle right now to step up and help this offense get back on Pace here on this drive yeah and this defense is froing at the mou they're excited they're jacked up they just made a big play they got all the momentum so they're ready to hunt after the misconnection it's second down Lopez wants to Fire and he was hit just as he released it and it falls to the turf I know you want to prepare for every game the same way but there's just something different about rivalry games Jesse it's because Reese I think players are aware that games like this Define your legacy as a player your record in rivalry games is something that people are going to talk about for years and years down the road you have got to show up and play your best football game and the quarterback caught up to and sacked at the 12 on Third and long you know what's coming that's exactly where you want to get an offense the passing game has to come out you go nickel bring some more speed on the field and the defensive line gets home and gets the sack to Force the fourth down fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way playing the field position game as he makes the fair catch right at the 50 [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] the offense lining up for a first down [Applause] [Music] play Power football with the rot they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two well it's plays like that that will help this up and stay in Rhythm all game long if you can have that kind of success on first down running the football it just opens up your entire Playbook moving [Music] forward eight- yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and short [Applause] 29 pulls it and fires to the left and he gets the first down but man did he get the hit stick laid on his Noggin well we need coming into this game this offense was going to try and get this receiver involved and get him involved early so here they are just finding an easy completion it's not a touchdown but they just want to get this guy lathered up and get him into a rhym from the 33 it's first and 10 the give to the lone running back he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down first down physicality wins football games being able to run the football and create balance and and right here just chews up another first down gives you another chance to maybe continue to run the football and I feel like this guy too is just an explosive play waiting to happen his vision his quickness and he's got a burst if you give this guy just a crease he's going to hit it and right now he's doing some damage on this defense he'll come out throwing on first down that's caught it's Conor and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up that's a great example of the defense there tackling the catch as soon as the big fella caught the ball down he went not picking up the first [Music] the Trojans look to do some damage in the Red [Applause] Zone looking to throw it's Crowder feeling some heat nowhere close on that one as he got thrilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down well this defense felt coming into the game that if he was going to try to throw from the pocket they could get to him and affect his accuracy and they did on that last play on third down he drops to throw he's got his man and that's where they'll Mark him but a very productive play and they'll move the chains these two guys just on the same wavelength they make clutch connections all the time and that's practice man that's all summer that's all spring just so many hundreds and hundreds and thousands of balls where you know exactly when that guy's going to break you know he's a stud you're going to feed him especially on these third down [Applause] situations they'll dial up the run on first and goal he bullies his way all the way down to the 5 yd line listen the offensive coordinator's best friend in the red zone is the running game make guys commit near the line of scrimmage so I can throw behind this defense is good but I'm going to challenge them I'm I'm going to try to be the more physical team I love the play call I think you keep running the football and stay physical picked up some of what they needed on first down now it's second and goal from the five he's looking to throw into the end zone had it in his hands for the score and let it fall to the turn it'll be third down I love the coverage on defense in the Red Zone everyone's got their eyes on their quarterback and they're flying to the football and you saw that there on the incompletion you can't afford to squander these opportunities once you get into the Red Zone twice they've been denied here's third and goal grabbed in the back field it's Ross touchdown Troy What A Catch and run for six really nice job working the route and getting himself open and he was able to locate the football snag it out of the air and this guy now has five receiving touchdowns on the year climbing up to attack one more onto that lead and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 so a drive that started just beyond Midfield only 49 yds and the score comes on a 5yd touchdown pass the kickoff unit about to go to work kickoff the returner will field it and bring it back and the coverage team able to wrestle him down Alabama over first the Jaguars offense ready to go back to work to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing on all cylinders right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they going to take a shot makes the catch on the left a giant chunk of yardage picked up there and they're down to 24 that's a beautiful pass and catch I love the job the quarterback does manipulating the defense with his eyes he Froze that safety and that allowed his receiver more room to work his route this offense has to be feeling it after that last one and he'll snap it first and 10 just outside the 20 and he won't quite get there but boy after that pick up just a few inches to go for the first an array of possibilities here man when I can run the football like that on first down and create second and inches and stay way ahead of the sticks and and be in a position now where I can throw football or run I will have a lot of success on the offensive side of the football LZ to pass swings it out to the flat and the ball's out and they're after it oh looks as if the defense got it racing down the left side he's at the 40 at the 20 touch down Trojans and the defense doing work they are seizing control and taking away hope as they push out the lead in this week eight Showdown the defense comes up with the fumble and takes it to the house the old scoop and score create the fumble pick that puppy up take it to the house great job by the defense not only forcing the turnover but getting points at of it and the extra points splits the uprights the kickoff team takes the Feld to boot this one [Music] away not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair [Music] catch back at it to open the quarter with this first down play wide receiver shows motion the receivers often will run their route based on a side adjustment he'll start this drive firing it's complete to the left and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up they've done a really good job identifying mismatches and they find one out of the back field there ree I really don't think it's that hard my guy is better than yours find the matchup across the field running back's got some speed get it in his hands quickly throw it to him fast let him make somebody Miss against a slower guy that's usually a linebacker big play like that to open a drive just builds the confidence now first down from the 46o lasso motion trying to get the defense to show his hand fires to the middle picked off takes it the other way he's inside the 40 running inside the 20 a veteran in this defense stayed locked in on his rules and made the interception and this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision making [Applause] now the Trojan offense returns to the field really good balance on that last Drive they mix it up all and here's a fumble way behind the line how about that alert play from the defense to Corral that fumble and they'll get him down after a solid return you know as quarterbacks you've got to be good in the pocket even when things are collapsing you've got guys swiping at it you got to have two hands on the football didn't do a really good job with ball security there and that led to the fumble looking for a productive play on first down Lopez wants to fire pressure coming hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver he didn't have a whole lot of time to get rid of that one the defense was all over him right after the snap no wonder that thing fell in complete after misfiring it's second down the give to the back fights off a Defender and there's going to be a loss on that play just run out of bounds and avoiding the contact third great running backs consistently make people miss and he did a really good job of breaking one tackle but he couldn't do it to the next and the next and the next the offensive line going to have to do a lot better job giving him some more space so he can get out in the open field and make some plays for this offense quarterback checking off on Third and long no secret what he needs here all kinds of room to throw that one in there speeding down the left side touchdown South Alabama and once he found some daylight it was time to make a house call quarterback's abilties to read the field is huge and also the anticipation the timing to be able to throw the football Jesse and hit a guy in stride so he can get run after the catch get in the end zone that was a nice job by the quarterback yeah it's critical David listen a lot of times touchdown passes aren't thrown into the end zone you've got to read the coverage hit the open guy and let him do the rest and he takes this from inside the five and the returner will be dragged down [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so guys we'll have another look at this Troy offense that fumble in plus territory just ruined that last Drive David yeah and those are frustrating when you got the offense moving a little bit and you put that thing on the deck Jesse but move on reload forget about it and that pass intercepted the sudden change on the turnover man he was looking for Running Room couldn't find that but they'll have it at the 22 it's not always the sacks on the quarterback right you just want to affect him you want to get to his legs and if you can smash him even better hit him in the face make that ball float up in the air creates the turnover creates the big play momentum Chef for the defense and he's stuffed by that big defensive tackle up front awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack and eating blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 SPID Lopez to pass and he was hit just as he was releasing the pass and it falls to the ground incomplete it's hard throwing in the pocket man you got bodies and 300 lb dudes falling all over the place they're trying to hit you that time the pressure got to them and it forced the incompletion third play of the drive and they need to take advantage of this field position by making something happen on Third and long from the gun wants to pass throws to the wide out and here's the third interception of the night and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick and that's just excellent coverage man cover one nowhere to throw the football look at everybody playing man across the board and you still got the safety in the middle of the field nobody open and if I'm the QB man I don't need to force it I I Don't Force It In The Tight Windows if it's not there he throws it unfortunately gets the interception bad decision by the QB there guys the Troy offense returns to the field well let's see if this drive goes better than the last one they were in and out quickly after the quick pick David yeah first heasy got it downfield for a huge gain he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down a new set of downs after the completion they're going to run it able to scr three yds out of that one somehow it's second and seven we we anticipate this one being much tighter than the last time these two met when it was a blowout David and here's the thing you got an opportunity right now you got the football early in this game to show you this is going to be more of the same bmer well we talked to both coaching staffs and players and they're all very aware of what happened the last time these two teams played so expect everybody's aame today re your right we expect this one to be a lot tighter got three on first down it's second and seven back to throw it's outer he's going to let it go and the incomplete pass taking a shot on second down and they'll be left with a third down you know as an offense you just don't get that many great opportunities in games to hit these type of Big Time plays when plays like that present themselves and receivers are open as a quarterback you have got to make that throw on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it got it in the middle it's Ross makes that one pay off and they finally get him down at the 38 it'll be first [Applause] down and the Trojans are rolling down the field they'll try the Run knocked down at the 35 after a pick up of three you know runs like this often times are like a boxer in a boxing match obviously it's not a knockout punch but these your body blows as the game goes on these small gains are going to turn into longer runs after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven he's looking to throw getting some heat can't find a man and he'll be knocked down at the 40 well obviously at this point in the first half the defense is finding themselves in the hole you just get the feeling if they're going to get back in this they're going to need more plays like that they're going to need sacks they're going to need turnovers they're going to have to create negative plays to get themselves some momentum now facing a third and long [Applause] back to pass it's Crowder unloads to the wide out it's caught downfield and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop right there I think you need a better play call you got to help your quarterback out a little bit because the throw has got to at least make it to the sticks on that last play You're basically trusting the guy guy to make a few dudes Miss in order to go pick up that first down I think you need to start being a bit more aggressive here when these third Downs present themselves we've reached the two-minute warning and they will try to build on what has already been a dominant first half performance they'll take a pass on the 46 yd field goal try and go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down and the ball is intercepted he was looking for room to return that but he'll just hand it to the offense they'll take over at the 18 really nice job there by the defense cuz I think theyve baited the QB and trying to fit that one in over the middle of the field remember it's a big Zone coverage they've all got their eyes on him back there in the pocket and they just let him feel like maybe I can fit this football in not so fast They Come Away with the pick he Wast no time and comes out throwing got his man downfield and he earns a first down and boy did he earn it after taking that lift defense just can't cover this guy we've seen it all game long whether it's man coverage Zone coverage double coverage they cannot find an answer for him he's already got over 150 yards he had the perfect play to open the dve and now they'll snap it again from the 38 got his man on the right they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down man this quarterback is having a first half he's over 200 yards already heating up setting up this dude might break his career high in passing I don't know what it is somebody get stats for him they'll throw it on first down using the quick game put it right on him sweet play good pick up and they'll move the chain for the first down but we see another catch by this guy this defense is going to need to do a better job of tackling the catch in coverage I know they want to slap the ball away but if you can't do it and force the incompletion you've got to at least make sure you're able to drag him down to the ground as soon as he catches the ball quarterback making the adjustments with his receivers going up top on first down he looks that one in nicely and they finally get him stopped but it's a big throw catch and he's down at the five nice job by the receiver there running the drag route against Zone coverage finding the soft spot making it easy on his quarterback to get the completion he turns it up field and he moves the sticks and here's the chance to cut into that lead before for halftime first and goal Lopez wants to fire it's complete he's down at the one and they almost had the touchdown pass on that one I like the decision by the quarterback just get the ball out of your hands get it to your playmaker a lot of times he'll dance and make even bigger plays than he did here but it was still a positive game looking for just one more yard it's second and goal he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three I think coming into this season they thought in order to have success we have got to be able to run the ball and get this guy going he hasn't scored yet this year but a golden opportunity right now to finally break the seal ready what will the offense dial up on Third and goal from the gun wants to pass got it they will score touchdown jaguar and I tell you what that passing touchdown man that should spark this whole team like The Comeback is more than on now like they got the touchdown they cut into the lead you want to get a stop and go into the half get all the juices all the excitement and be like listen the passing game's rolling we got this the comeb back's in full effect so here comes the kickoff after the touchdown and the last thing you need right before the half is to give up a big return on the run from inside his own [Applause] five he gets a block oh what Vision there he goes open it up he won't get him it's a touchdown he is a field flipping machine take it on one end return it to the other and now you get to celebrate what a beautiful job we always talk about defense we always talk about offense but man when your special teams come through for you and score it is huge and it provides such a boost for the crowd the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halftime update the Jaguars will boot it away to start the second half here he comes from inside his own five and the returner will be brought down and Detroit offense will take over first and 10 now the Trojan offense returns to the field they had the lead to start the third quarter but I'd imagine ball security was a topic at halftime yeah and I think you take the lead and you try to stay optimistic with your team but you also say guys if we had taken care of the football this lead would be even bigger we might have already knocked them out already Palmer it's just about eliminating the mistakes at this point you're right this thing would be over if it hadn't shot themselves in the foot so ball security that is at a premium as this game goes on [Music] after the loss on that last one an all important second down play from the [Applause] 12 looking for a man it's Crowder throws to the tight end got him downfield and and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play man if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or disrupt their timing and their Rhythm I can't give them these big chunk plays through the air I got to be maybe a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different they've got it at the 37 it's first and 10 reload trying the left side and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up and a lot of times you want those big plays you want those Splash plays but sometimes you're going to take some losses you're not going to run the football overly well but if you continue to run it you can at least create some balance you at least have the threat of it otherwise you're just going to banded in now it's just going to be a passing game [Music] picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down he's looking to throw he's got his man at the 40 there he goes After Burner coming touchdown Trojans reeled it in and just made the house call number eight now they've got a little breathing room they are in firm control with this game guys but you never want to let up in a rivalry game because it only takes one play we know how much of a factor momentum can be in these types of rivalry games David So this game still far from over and this is where my leadership and my experience comes into play when you got guys that have been through these fires been through these rivalry game you know the swings happen quick now you got to swing it back here wi about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown he'll return it I know he thinks he can house every return but sometimes you just have to take a knee as he stopped at the 14 South Alabama has it back the Jaguar offense going to work trailing by three touchdowns if you're going to get back in it David the time to start is right now got to start now going over the top couldn't hang on to that one this defense has already picked off three passes almost had the fourth it'll be second down well at this juncture in the game with how the scoreboard looks no question this offense is going to have to throw to get back in the game and it's going to be tricky now because the defense is expecting it you're going to throw into a lot of big Zone coverages with everybody's eyes on the quarterback not going to be easy now the quarterback changing the original play call Lopez to pass he'll take another shot here and man oh man he is in the dark tonight his fourth interception and a big return after the int sets up the offense for this possession what a gamechanging play by this defense nice job you got them backed up in their own territory coming out now you force the turnover set your offense up with some great scoring field position so guys we'll have another look at this Troy offense they had this thing in a hammer lock at halftime and now they are really ratcheting up the pressure David and I tell you what this offense doesn't have to change a thing Paul they've done what they wanted in the first half and starting off the second half in the same fashion and I like how they're letting different guys get involved too they've got so so many different playmakers all over the [Music] field going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down off the play fake and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 a playaction fate seems simple but there are some intricacies for the quarterback rease your right the danger for a quarterback in play action is that you're turning your back to the defense when you're trying to execute the play fake to the running back so you have no idea what's happening behind you and you have no presence for where that Rush is coming from all of a sudden you whip your head back around and often times it's too late you saw that right there and they'll get him down inside the five but this offense powering for to score well this offense has given a lesson right now in how to fight through adversity because first and second down was ugly but they come up with that huge completion to Now set up a manageable fourth down opportunity to keep this drive alive and the field goal unit is on the field and this ought to be a Chip Shot from about 20 yds out and this one splits the upright and that will extend their lead even further let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got lot of eyeballs on your game guys and a few on this interesting matchup as well New Mexico state is down but they are not out of it not inside Aggie Memorial Stadium one of the more fun places to watch a game in all of college football they're trailing by just four to Louisiana Tech we'll Circle back if anything big happens you should know about it thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes far fin Lopez wants to fire he's got it and a quick completion and even quicker loss the defense was right there to knock him down we're trying to throw the screen out to the receiver the defense though having none of that they are just too physical they're too fast they force a negative play that first down was rather unproductive let's see what they've got on second down from the 16 he's looking to throw fires to the middle pulls it in now they've got even more breathing room out to the 31 and a fresh set of downs it's really hard when you get in those predictable situations defenses are sitting on the sticks receivers have to understand where that first down marker is heads up play knows for the first down marker get in there and get it quickly complete brought down at the 47 but not before he ripped off 15 big play in the passing game there and I like the receiver gearing down in the zone did a nice job finding the soft spot on defense between the Defenders giving the quarterback an easy target to throw to to complete that throw and the Jaguars will have it first and 10 they're going to throw it again and he got smacked just as he released the pass it's in complete there's nothing better than being a defensive lineman in a defense period that pressure the quarterback that gets hits on them that make him feel uncomfortable especially when you come into their building and you get everybody really really quiet that's a great feeling here they come on second and 10 from the 47 after the incompletion wide receiver coming across in motion quarterback will audible Lopez to pass this one's complete and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up one of the things that makes this guy so dangerous is how goody is after the catch if he's got any space around him he's able to burst he's able to make people and get extra yards for his offense you saw it right there now on First and 10 from the 35 the give to the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and yeah that's kind of surprising and we talked about this before the game one of the big matchups run the football against a defense that's been susceptible against the Run throughout the season but this offense just can't find a way to get it going and I'm surprised but now what's your counter punch how are you going to get the ground game going cuzz so far not a lot of success coming after him that pass is incomplete and they might be fortunate it wasn't knock free for a fumble it'll be third down that's what this defense has to do guys they've got to knock this quarterback down to the ground he's already thrown a couple of TDS the only way you're going to stop that is with good quarterback pressure third down and this offense is already in a world of trouble they could really use the conversion not to to mention multiple scores and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big pick up on that one well this defense has tried to find ways to disguise their coverage and mix it up to try to confuse the QB it's not working though that last completion he's now got over 300 yds passing first down here for the offense get set get set little touch pass to the receiver defense coming through and knocking him down for a loss and that'll be the end of the third period will start the quarter offense about to snap it on second down Lopez wants to Fire pocket starts to collapse they're trying to get to it they get him down after the scramble but he's able to pick up a few and turn it into a posi play well great job there by the defense because they weren't able to get him sacked right away but you saw the coverage in the back end nowhere for the quarterback to throw the football didn't get the sack obviously you don't get the negative play but you also don't give up a big one you're feeling pretty good about where you are right now in this drive let's go the back goes in motion on Third and long try to convert through the air he's got it boy this freshman quarterback has a hose did he seing that thing in there long drive continues as the offense keeps working the ball down the field I don't blame them they're going to keep working this guy out of the slot until somebody finds a way to stop him yeah and why wouldn't you man you you find a matchup that's working and you got a guy with this kind of athletic ability in the slot dude keep finding him keep using different routes so far the defense doesn't have an answer for him going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone quarterback changing the plays at the line looking to throw on second down he snares it in the endzone touchdown South Alabama this is like a baseball pitcher they can't miss he is just pounding pounding pounding the strike zone it just gets in the zone right when you can't miss you you've SE qu s get like that no matter what they do they're on fire they're hitting the receivers and listen that's also on the defense the defense has to do a better job making him feel uncomfortable changing what they're doing in coverage so he's a little bit confused you can't just let him pick you [Applause] apart Lopez to pass throw to the end zone it's picked off the exemp at Theo conversion is no good that keeps the score Troy 38 South Alabama 20 almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown it bounds through the back of the end zone it'll be a Touchback he guys the Troy offense returns to the field and to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they'd love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down to execution too did a nice job out in the field stalled a little bit once they got down to the goal line so they just need to be a little bit more crisp here though yeah and listen I I think the first part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down there focus on execution and getting six [Music] points they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 he's looking to throw fires toward the target oh almost intercepted it'll fall incomplete the defense almost came up with a turnover this quarterback is struggled having already thrown two picks that should have been number three somehow the defender dropped that one things not going well for this Q they come to the line facing third and long from the 25 dropping back it's Crowder going for the big play oh and he gets downfield for the Big Catch and how about that what the doctor always ordered an explosive play to the 40 well I love play colors that want to stay aggressive regardless of what the score is regardless how much time is left on the clock and I promise you this there are a lot of fans there are a lot of teams all across college football that are paying attention to what is happening right now is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage you got to have that defense you know you can go to in running situations your base defense when you say okay this is where I'm going to start and I'm going to stop the run stuff it up front my guys play Big up front then if I need to add some blitzes to it later on down the road I can but great job in the base defense making a play got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 he's looking to throw makes the grab down the middle he works his way inside the 30 down to the 29 and picks up a first down and in this offense you know as a quarterback you're going to get opportunities to put up some pretty big numbers you've been impressed watching this guy play early this year with that last pass completion he's now already over 2,000 yards on the season the Trojans have this offense rolling fire smart move to keep it on the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one it's going to be tough sleding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the runs coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did interesting to see what the offense does on this next one looking downfield it's Crowder trying to get to him he's got the back in the middle makes a catch and knock down listen running backs are not just running backs anymore you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football a great job sneaking out of Back Field getting him the football letting them get some positive yards they run into a bit of trouble here third and long from the 25 and the last thing they want is to get knocked out of field goal [Applause] range oh that slithered right through his fingers and would have been his second interception of the game instead it's fourth down and for the second time tonight they'll try out the field goal kicker he'll try to put one down the boulevard from 42 yds out one what a disappointment no good and after the Miss fellas still sitting on an 18-point lead [Music] Alabama first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute warning he'll put the tight end in motion he's going to pass hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and it never had a chance second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning he's looking to throw he's right on target turns it on in Midfield and a big hit at the end but it didn't stop him from getting the first [Music] [Applause] down the offense will put it in play from the 47 on First and 10 Lopez wants to fire oh he's going to try to hit him over the top throw to the sideline and it's complete and they've got to make play and there's no quit in this team obviously they're trailing late in the game but they're trying to make it happen we've seen two big plays now backto back they're putting pressure on this [Applause] defense the Jaguars with the first and 10 quarterback reacting to what the D is [Applause] showing they're in the red zone and they'll pass it quarterback feeling the pressure and down he goes at the 22 and that's exactly what this defense needed they needed to have something positive they given up some yardage they given up some plays no big deal got right back in it on this drive with that big sack ready that offense having to deal with the last thing you want on first down giving up a sack as they come up to the line on second down they're bringing heat it's complete on the right side they'll get it down to the 8 yd line on that thr and catch and the defense is backed up against the wall and that was a nice throw by the QB when you see that drag route coming across the field how about putting the ball right on his numbers not high not low where he has to stop his momentum right on the numbers where he can catch it keep running and chew up some yards after the catch they're going to go to the air on Third and short snags it didn't get a whole lot of yardage before he was stopped but using the running back in the short passing game gives him a first [Music] [Applause] down that's it Fly it's incomplete he was shooting for the end zone right there well this guy must feel like he's running into a buzzsaw in this game he has been under duress all game long and that's a big reason why he's thrown multiple interceptions in the game too nothing coming easy to him it's hard to see the field when your internal clock is going off so fast because of the pressure of this defense and that's why they find themselves down by so much here in the four it falls incomplete he was trying to find his man for six it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last [Applause] one looking to throw on Third and goal fires to the end zone can't make the grab as he was going for six right there at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage a fourth quarter field goal down by this much that's a lot like putting a lipstick on the proverbial pig doesn't do much to change the looks got to score the touchdown on Fourth and goal Lopez to pass and it's knocked away they'll give up the ball failing to convert on Fourth and I get it this that's for Pride's sake this game's over like I know you're you're down and you try to mount drives and sometimes you even try to get young guys in the game at this point but now you're just fighting for pride and just letting them try not to get any more points on the scoreboard I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a teams being out physical you hear a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run [Music] it got three on first down it's second and [Applause] seven the give is to Taylor One Step WRA twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground defense gets the timeout called 20 seconds left on the [Applause] clock third and short they've got them backed up inside the 20 and the D can get the ball back here quick pass to the left trying to get it to the marker really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down that is going to drive this defensive coordinator nuts a lot of DCs they focus a ton of energy on how their unit performs on third down and in the Red Zone if this defense gives up a couple more third down conversions like that they're going to be in for a very unpleasant film session on Monday and the Trojan will snap it on First and 10 it's really easy to get caught up in the emotion of a rivalry game we did and certainly this was a huge win yeah and you
