welcome everybody and we are fired up for another Sensational college football matchup nobody at home today who can stake their claim in this neutral sight Showdown [Music] and The Jayhawks will boot it away to start the game he'll start the return inside his spot just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 the gator offense will get the first possession of the game and Here Comes The Talented freshman a huge spot for him and there might be a bit of a learning curve here guys no doubt being so young he just has to be able to handle his emotion he's got a lot of talent David he just has to keep it all under control yeah keep it under control realize it's one play at a time don't try to do too much but he's got the talent and now he's going to have to earn the respect of everybody around they've got it at the 37 it's first and 10 power football with the run and Midfield he's got room brings him down at the 48 it's a gain of 15 and a first down Mr two bits would be proud the gator standing up and hollering for a first down how does that cheer go well first you have to have the yellow shirt in the strike tie and go two bits four bits six bits a do all for the Gator stand up and holler now a couple of times historically that the SEC has reached into and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack often times with play action you're asking the quarterback to hold on to the ball a bit longer and you're asking this offive line to hold up and pass Pro a bit longer against this athletic front seven on defense it's going to be [Applause] tough and a missed opportunity on third down as the defense knocks it free and fourth down is coming up the Gators will line up to punt it away looks as if they might have a little something going there but they'll have to kick it away so the Kansas Jayhawks offense will take the Fel for the first time as we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the pick how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions grabbed behind the line it's West they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down ball sitting right at the 30 it'll be third and short from the gun wants to pass Powers through the defender really confident throw and catch there big pick up and they have a first down the j-hawks come to the line with a fresh set of downs he wants to throw buys a little extra time he's going to run it this is the kind of game a top 25 matchup in the early season that you look for when you're trying to build your resume yeah these are so fun because as a player you kind of get bored if you don't get challenged but when you got an early season challenge like this all the adrenaline all the Jews Palmer you're ready to rock and roll I love this we've had this game circled for a long time because we learn a lot in these types of games what are these teams about which conferences are better you're going to get a lot of answers today and the jwks are rolling down the field trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here and he won't quite get there but boy after that pick up just a few inches to go for the first an array of possibilities here operating in the Red Zone here on second down after run run run now throw he snares it in the end zone touchdown R chop and it's so underrated the relationship between a QB and a wide receiver the timing the ability to know where he's going to be and be accurate with the football that's what leads to nice touchdown J well the chemistry between these two guys has to be great when you're throwing into the end zone because coverage is going to be tight the throw might not be perfect but this is something these two guys have been repping and practice over and over and over and it's paying dividends now on game this will not be returnable as it sails out of the back of the end zone a first down for the [Applause] offense he leaves it with the back and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land and the Gator moving quickly to the line coming after him hit as he throws and that pass intercepted got some room to run and he will roll into the end zone touchdown Kansas what a play by this defense with the pick six and how about the defender exactly what you're supposed to breaks on the football makes the interception everybody on defense we turn to offense go some blocks so my guy can get it and take it back to the house on the move from inside is five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 the gator sending the offense back to work to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing on all cylinders right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up it's just the first quarter so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or that scheme that you can use against this defense on first down here comes this offense he's going to pass final play of the quarter and the ball Falls incomplete that's the end of the quarter Kansas has the lead here really strong performance so far to be able to build a lead here in the first period as we look at the [Applause] stats we'll get this quarter going with a second down play wide receiver coming across him motion an unforced error there they don't get the snap off in time delay of game offense so frustrating to see an offense lose track of the play clock and pick up a penalty like that line getting set on second [Applause] down makes a count cat and knock down and they pick up just a few on that completion nice completion nice short game now it sets up third down and wait a minute third down now becomes we're going to go for it on fourth down anyway so it really doesn't matter that much great job getting a little chunk now we get to go have some fun trying to burn this defensive back and it's caught inside the 25 and he takes it all the way they couldn't stop him TouchDown for up and after the extra point they've cut the lead in half down 147 and let's check in with Kevin Conor in the studio Kevin two very different emotions inside the locker rooms of these teams who did battle today UCF pulled into town on a mission and they're high tailing it out of here with a huge win Benny VD VG I came I saw I conquered and that's precisely what the nights still the circle of life in college football where one team moves on feeling like kings and the other heads home licking it wounds Kevin thanks a lot for that one sounds as if they had a good one there man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out 6yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four give to the running back makes the tackle at the 25 after a 5yd gain and I don't care I by two by 20 by 30 by 40 I I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that stick get to the first down Mark they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one lost one on that last one it's second and 11 to throw it's [Applause] Marshall complete and he goes out of bounds after a nice pick up on that one guys out of the back field now it's not just run the ball downhill anymore you got to be verstile I got to be able to trust you in the pass game and I got to be able to throw you the football and you can do that right there I know you're going to catch it and I can depend on you trying to move the sticks on third down through the air and the quarterback was trying to extend the play and the defense brought it to a close The Jayhawks will call on their punt team slip through the line coverage team gets the job done and they'll Mark him down at the 38 yd line Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense Jesse looking to take it down the field for backto back touchdowns it's really important for them moving forward too to have a lot of balance right you want to be able to keep this defense guessing po yeah and you got me searching for answers after that last drive you stack another drive on top of this their defense's heads are going to be spinning all over the place they'll throw it on first down here he goes breaking the pocket he can't make the connection it'll be incomplete he can scramble but couldn't create anything there there's a lot of QBs that when they get hit and when they get hurried and when they get pressured they become very average really nice job by the defense press the quarterback this offense has a second down play couldn't connect on first down now back to the air gets it out quickly a nice job by the QB there timing out that drag throw it's Zone coverage so he's got to make sure he gets it to his receiver in a window to allow him to catch the ball and then turn it up field to the air it's BBE he makes the connection now with a great opportunity as they pick up the first down they've got it at the 40 the clock has reached the two-minute Mark and they have a chance to at least cut into this lead before the break the Gators are marching down the field fast motion from the offense try to get the edge with a quick touch pass he is stopped behind the line of scrimmage lose yards on that one quarterback will Audible on second down looking to throw a shot toward the end zone had it in his hands for the score and let it fall to the turf it'll be third down what a perfect timing got there right when the ball got there didn't get there a little bit early saving the touchdown nice timing by that Defender and he can't escape and down he goes timeout is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this big down the Gators will bring the punt team onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and the coverage team able to make the tackle first down here for the [Applause] offense looking to move it through the air B little time lets it Go fires to the tight end he's there to make the stop but the D has been done as they pick up the first down on the throwing catch he's looking to throw it and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming big tight end tries to make a catch and you can tell extends for the ball but great job by the defender getting in there making the hit dislodging the football out as the same time as he's and it's intercepted a turnover for the defense he is finally out of bounds but he was smelling that End Zone on that return what defensive players don't always see where the ball is they see the receiver and they get to chase him but really good job seeing where the receiver is going and making an interception making a big play getting the ball back to your off the gator sending the offense back to work receiver on the Move gets the touch pass breaks the tackle that's about as close as you can get to that marker and it will be second and just a few breaths away from the first down wide outs all wed up in a bunch fires the pass intercepted and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision offense set on first down he wants to throw fires to the wide out and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they'd throw it again back to pass it's Marshall it's complete they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker there's a Timeout on the field tight game late in the first half on Third and long trying to have a big completion here and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the Stop and the j-hawks will send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away nowhere to run and nowhere to hide that is coverage just the way they it and they've got him backed up Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense now you find out just how much of a gun swinger you are will you roll the dice here late in the half David and you know the defense is going to be really really conservative so I think it's an opportunity to be able to take a shot see how much of a chunk you can get before then you decide really Jesse how you want to finish the half just can't turn it over and throw a pick the quarterback here you have got to be so smart if you're going to be aggressive with your decision Mak first down here for the offense he'll set up to throw oh he's going to try to hit him over the top brings it in down the left side oh look out there he goes and he ran away from the defense to take it in touchdown Gator and that kick was perfect down the middle and after the extra point was good it's even Steven here in the second quarter so here comes the kickoff after the touchdown and the last thing you need right before the half is to give up a big return fielded In The End Zone it's Williams he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they get him on the ground at the 20 running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break the run from the shotgun may not be the most memorable play of the day but it's important as he gets him out to the 25 yd line clock winding toward zero they'll get one more snap off using his legs it's Morrison they make the Stop and that is the end of the first half that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with a halftime update all right guys a delightful first two quarters of football there today in Vegas and it's been a clinic in fundamental defensive football both teams have been Relentless and ball Hawking refusing to give an inch this is the kind of slugfest that real football fans love crushing tackles and dudes flying into gaps and passing Lanes a testament to the discipline both of these teams have shown Kansas gets the ball back and the jhawk offense is ready to go to work first drive of the second half always fun to watch you see what type of tweaks were made at the half especially when you're locked up in a ball game like this one yeah and it's been a good game I mean it's been a little bit of back and forth in a feeling out process and now once you get in the second half who's going to get aggressive pmer who's going to take some shots try to make some plays and really go for it yeah yeah it's interesting I think as play callers right now you learn a lot about these coaching staffs with respect to who does make the best adjustments there's a lot of coaches that believe we're just going to be who we are we're going to keep doing what we do we're just going to do it better but then there are others that tweak things a little bit on offense and on defense we're going to find out here a costly penalty for this defense gives him a first and 10 quick hand off just a solid stop by this s more got three on first down it's second and seven dropping back it's Marshall and that's just a flat misfire not even close to his receiver ball is at the 41 as this defense tries to force the punt on Third and long there trying to slow that Rush down with the draw at the 45 on his way full dozes him just carving up this defense and getting it down to the 24 the j-hawks look to keep this drive huming to the ground he's got it again shakes off the tackler and he's able to find a little bit of Running Room before they get him down y pick up on first down leaves him with second and short quarterback on the keeper he'll get that one all the way down to the four yd line before he stopped well this is one of the fastest quarterbacks in college football and that's why the option's a good idea because if he can get out in space and he has a chance to get down field he is really difficult to tackle and he's very difficult to catch as you saw in that last play getting first down and the D Deni him on second and [Applause] goal the run up the middle here looking for a path to the end zone he'll be brought down at the 5 yd line and this defense is on its heels third and goal for the offense from the gun wants to pass and it's picked off at the goal line and the offense makes the tackle in frustration after the interception d comes up empty and it's a turnover man that is Picture Perfect cover zero when I play cover zero I'm bringing pressure and that Ball's going to come out look at the defense ready for that ball to come out of the quarterback's hand nice job breaking on the football and going to making the interception the gator sending the offense back to work gets a nice Surge and crosses the five to the 6yd line to pick up of three it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive play positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down back to pass it's B back open in the middle makes the grab and it's enough for the first down before he's dragged to the ground nice job by the running back catching the football and understanding where the first down marker was I got to go get that first down did a nice job of it it's first and 10 from their own 14 yd line from the gun he leaves it with the back works his way into the traffic and picks up three to the 17 small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this after the three yd pickup they come to the line Second and [Applause] seven he's looking to throw fires to the right makes a connection and they'll move the change with the first down but that might be it for the third quarter we've reached the end of the third quarter and we have a potential Classic on our hands all tied up as we take a peek at the stats they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first down wide out in motion but Jet Sweep pass across the 35 and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play in these touch passes it's so hard because there's always action off of it right if I fake this pass and I can run it up the gut or I can throw it and I just spread me out and make me defend so many things and you could tell they got on the edge quickly got the big first down tight end finds a soft spot he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down ever since they invented the forward pass the tight ends have been running the drag and getting the first down now I think it's because the tight ends is so much versatility you know they can block and stay in the formation or they can release and come out TCH down Florida and they've moved out front here in the fourth they'll try to add another to their lead the extra point is good and now in the fourth they're up by a touchdown and an extra point and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor in the studio fellas I think at least a portion of your audience will have interest in the one that just finished up Arkansas delivered the type of thrashing generally reserved for homecoming games in fville thing is this was a road Victory and a win like this is going to resonate throughout the SEC 60 Minutes of football and a convincing outcome and certainly a game with implications far beyond just the standings fellas and Kevin Conor is keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there yeah and it's so hard to contain this guy with all those options he has and the experience at the quarterback's fought but nice job by the defense limiting the damage didn't give up a huge game grab near the sticks it's Morrison fin run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down they'll go to the ground he picks up maybe a couple before he stopped right at the 30yd line and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first he's got an open man and they don't drag him down until he gets all the way to the 46 yd line big drive for this offense late trying to tie the game they pieced together a couple of first downs and here they come again leaves it with the back and he finds Some solid space makes a nice game before the defense is able to stop him yeah this coaching staff they're getting this offensive line lathered up and into a rhythm now they're letting them drive off the ball on first down on these running plays and they're getting chunks of yardage and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the first down you got to have short area quickness that running back there doing what it takes to make sure he got that first down and The Jayhawks will snap it on First and 10 he's going to pass steps away to find some room that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there it's just so nice to have a QB under Center nowadays in football you can trust these guys you put so much on their plate and you tell them go get positive yards when it's there and a lot of these guys are such great athletes they do it and he can't get it off taken down what a huge play this late in the game the defense coming up big there and the sack is great but the secondary deserves some credit too no doubt when you can cover like that in the secondary and drop back in your Zone and only Rush a few and you feel comfortable getting home and they're going to get to the quarterback that is a great feeling and that's fun to be a defensive coordinator calling the play this late in the game there's really no question about it to have any chance to tie this thing up they have to convert here on fourth down got some room headed to the goal line touchdown J Hawks and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house and great job executing the offense did what they needed to do you got somewhat of a decision here do you want to kick it tie it up I I think you do with this time frame you know one to two minutes left in the fourth quarter you probably want to do that but you could push the envelope you could go for two and try to take the lead here he comes from inside his own five and they'll get him on the ground as the offense comes out to start the next drive and now the offense will come onto the field again there's enough time to get the ball down the field here David but you got to make sure you're efficient and avoid mistakes yeah in those two-minute drills you always talk about the first first down Jesse get that first first down stop the clock get some momentum going on offense yeah and good decision making by the quarterback too right you don't have to be greedy in this situation just take what the defense gives you and get yourself in position to win the offense lining up for a first down play he wants to start this drive with a pass and it goes through his hands oh he had an explosive play right there for the taking but couldn't reel it in it's been tough for this QB in this one very small Windows to throw into and he's been under some duress as well it's hard to find a rhythm as a QB in those types of situations and that's why it appears as though his team's going to be leaving here with a now touch pass on the r may not be the most memorable play of the day but it's important as he gets them out to the 25 yd line looking to throw it's BBE pocket starts to collapse the defense going to stop the clock with the timeout they want to make sure they have everybody on the same page and that is job the has to protect their quarterback that's the most important position on the field you got to make sure you keep him upright you got to do a better job now a fair catch is called for and may just shy of Midfield the Kansas offense returns to the field how big is this drive scored a touchdown the last time they had it defense gets a stop and now it's up to them in a tie game all right so if you're the offensive coordinator here let's dial it in and the pressure will get there the sack down he goes in the waiting moments that could be a crossly play biggest Drive of the game coming up right now as this team tries to win it in regulation throws to the wide out just missed his man gave him just a little too much some third down conversions tougher than others this one a long one on third down from the 43 he'll do it himself oh gave the defender the business and he's able to shed one tackle and pick up pretty good yardage quick timeout by the defense there trying to make sure everyone has the same call the j-hawks send out the punt unit wanted to make sure not to give them a chance for a return as it goes out of bounds Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense a pretty good bit of ground to cover here Jesse but they've got some time to work with they do so Tempo is going to be important you got to go fast you just got to make good decisions at the quarterback position and he's going for the big play and it's incomplete they were looking for the huge gain on first down offense gets set for second [Applause] down after the in line up for a second down play looking to throw it's BBE moves around to clear up the vision now he'll let one fly down the left side and it's incomplete after taking a shot on second down they're staring at third I'm not positive but that first down marker might be in the next County on Third and long you'll need to push it down field and they can't hook up on the big play and that brings up a fourth down and the Gators line up to punt it away three and out and not much but to get rid of the ball he's going to get loose and the return man has no place to run no place to hide and a place to be tackle and the field goal unit is
