so the Michigan State smarts offense will get the first possession of the game and here's the man they rally around and he has earned that type of respect David you dang right you earn it by doing it and he's done it at such a high level everyone believes in this young man in Palmer there's a reason why you're right David he's been in the big moments and he's won the big games this guy delivers when the game is on the line finally run out of bounds but he has his offense rolling with a first down really nice job on that throw just giving his guy an opportunity to catch the ball kind of reminds me about Bill Burke a guy played against back in the Citrus ball when I was playing he was throwing the Plax go burst and he just kept putting the football in pla's range and we just couldn't stop the two of them they went up and down the field on us all day long throwing it if you just give your guy a chance like he did right there I don't know if this defense can stop they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 back to throw it's child and he got smacked just as he released the pass it's incomplete they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on Third and long he has to throw for it the short hands it's belly and he's knocked down a immediately but not before he moves the chains the Spartans are rolling down the field the give to the back they bring him down take the touch back so Boston College's offense will take the field for the first time as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of it yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in big games like this Boston College right back to the line looking to pass on second down he is lucky to get that one back and the last thing you want is to turn it over on your opening drive oh that hit him in a bad spot right in the hands great play you still get a pass break up but man that could have been an interception by the defender there nice break on the football but secure that big fell get the six get the pick six you know when you're playing against a defense of this caliber you're going to have to have some sort of balance right you can't just drop back and throw at every single play nothing going on that last run yeah and you got me searching for answers after that last drive you stack another drive on top of this their defense's heads are going to be spinning all over the place couldn't make the play on first up for a second and play The Run and then the big tight ends big Targets on the back back in can catch the football and make big plays they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time you so I know that now he felt the heat cling to get away but down he goes he'll lose a yard or two and they'll send out the field goal unit and this one ought to be nice and easy a 22 yd attempt his way all over the back field staying alive staying alive and finally he goes down quarterback's got to get rid of the ball that last sack's not on the line that's on him now it's third down fires to the big fella he'll have enough for the first down and they stop him at the 45 all right defense it ain't working right they're stringing together several first downs here we're going to need to change this up find something we can disrupt the quarterback and and mess up this offense a little bit and he's able to shed one tackle but still just a very short gain didn't get much on first down it's second and nine wide out in motion touch pass on the Jet Sweep a strong long tackle and wrap up from the junior well and on these little push passes timing is so important trying to snap it right as he's getting a full head of steam when he gets the ball he's hitting the outside David it puts the defense in such a difficult spot you immediately have to be rotating when you see that motion so everybody's got to communicate and kind of bump over that's why offenses love to run it just it makes the defense communicate and see if you can just get him out of a spot and the defender just way too handsy on that last play you could see all the contact as the ball was in the air you simply can't do it and the referee's caught give to the back oh it's on the ground by Fall how about that alert play from the defense to Corral that fumble and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for to oh and it's a hit like that that will absolutely light up the side line light up the stadium change the momentum and help you win a football game because that hit is what that [Music] F first down here for the offense give to the running back discards a man you want to make sure to maximize those types of runs and he gets it out to the 41 Boston College wants to play fast going to the running game and he gets it to the 45 yd line and that'll be a first down well there we go we finally see some life in this offense running the football nice game to pick up the first down got to get more of that going moving forward cuz they have not run it well and they'll bring him down after a short pickup after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven [Applause] it's reverse and they'll wrestle him to the ground after a short gain they boul ahead with the run but still more ground needed to pick up the first down third down coming looking to throw it's castios they're working that left side they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down the clock has reached the two Mark and they have a chance to at least cut into this lead before the break this first half of offense won't go on the Highlight Reel so far but starting to get things moving it's first and 10 he's going to pass unloads to the Wi out just a bit of a misfire there as they can't make the connection that's a throw the QB would like to have back he just has to do a better job giving his receiver a chance to make the catch after the misfire now on second Down Easy he's looking to throw got it in the middle it's Bon really confident throw and catch there big pick up and they have a first down the golden eagles come to the line with a new set of downs from the Red Zone looking for a man they've got the screen set up didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short game there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down and so many things have to come together perfectly for a screen to work for big yardage and they were close you could tell that almost busted but they just got wrapped up got a little bit of yardage but they really wanted that one to be a big gameer using the quick game they go up top to get it down to the 5 yd line as they try to pay off this drive this offense can get a jolt of momentum headed to the locker room if they can take the lead here from the gun unleashes to the end zone and it's caught touchdown Eagles and I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game and tell you what keep that passing game up and keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up numbers so they got the touchdown now going to put it in the hands of their defense to finish off this half and he takes this from inside the five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 the Spartans have it back on offense hoping to play some good ball so late in the half this is really an opportunity David maybe to swing the momentum in their favor dang right there's no time to oh he's ready to take a shot oh did he toaster coverage got it deep down field speeding down the left side touchdown Sparty and once he found daylight it was Katy Bar the Door baby this offense is so good man they can hurt you in so many different ways and they do it so quick so explosive they can put small Drives together big Drives together they've really had a great year and that's why they're a top 10 offense and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 BC has it back and the eagle offense returns to the field this late in the half you're behind you'd love to create something before the break to build momentum Jesse well you've also had some miscues on offense a big part of why you're losing the game right now i' take it into halftime make my adjustments and come out ready in the second half yeah I'm going to take it in halftime too PA but I'm trying to put some points up right here be aggressive set the tone be like Hey listen this is what you're going to get in the second half so find something really quickly you can go to Second and short now after that completion to the air it's castios and the ball is intercepted bringing it back and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position well the defense comes away with the pick there with nickel Personnel I think moving forward if you're on offense when you see that Personnel on the field you want to run the ball against it CU you got smaller guys out there or if you're going to throw think about quick screens outside when you have tight ends flexed on the perimeter bigger bodies blocking smaller guys Michigan state has the ball back and here comes the offense they're already in great field goal position here David the question is how aggressive do they get that Full Throttle be reels it in in the end zone touchdown Michigan State getting set for the point after and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead that's exactly what you want to do when you have that type of field position strike quickly and they did one play and they put it on the board they got the late touchdown on the board now about to kick it away and hoping the defense can keep them from an and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 Boston College sending the offense back onto the field after that last pick David they really need to take care of the ball this time no doubt and Palmer I want to know what Spurrier said to you on the sideline after a pick do that again and you'll be right here beside me for the rest of the game you got to go out you got to call your run plays I think it's up to the Big Fellas up front they've just got to make the decision that they're going to be tougher here in the second half so that they can win this game grab near the marker this junior knows how to get him on the ground the Spartans want to crank the tempo on Third and short just trying to get enough for the first down they get him on the ground but it's a first down you wonder now on offense have they found something in the Run game finally it's been tough for them to get the Run game going but they picked up a nice gain on that last one let's see if they go back to it he wants to throw sends it downfield nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock get away well I know that one fell incomplete but what a day this guy has had throwing the football multiple touchdowns and he's done a really nice job with his decision man he hasn't thrown any picks which has really helped keep this offense on [Applause] schedule thir now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass snagged in the middle it's brown and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop they're throwing for it on fourth down they got him it's a sack and what a stop for this defense to turn it over on down he had nowhere to go with the football you could tell survey the field somebody's got to get open to go make a play Man throw it up run it do something you can't take a sack on fourth down you got to give somebody an opportunity to make a play for you it's a fumble picks up the ball and tries to make something of it good awareness by the offense you never want to see the ball on the ground but a nice job understanding to just kind of jump on it make sure you keep possession On The Run it's Groo and finds Some solid space makes a nice it back looking for help didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Michigan state has the ball back and here comes the offense they've got it back after that last Drive stalled out and they were stopped on fourth down David yeah and they put a little bit of a drive together but Jesse they stalled on the other side of the field and they got to find a way to keep that momentum going as they get closer to the end zone I agree I I do like their mindset though and I think they need to continue being aggressive moving forward in this game he fires one Deep Over the middle and the DB right with him to knock it away they'll spread the defense out going five wide on second and 10 to the air it's child he's got him this time put it right on him sweet play good pick up and they'll move the change with the first down this slot receiver is a guy the defense has to be careful of he runs good routes he's got some speed and if you're not careful this guy can gash you and the Spartans come to the line with a fresh set of downs they'll throw it on first down get it out on the screen and the defense able to drag him down but not before they'll recycle that down marker on First and 10 from the [Applause] 38 from the gun they'll try to impose their running game and it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot after the productive first down play it's second and six he's looking to throw caught poose to the marker it's Gates gets out of bounds after the big play and they'll be set up in business with a first and goal how nice is it as a quarterback when you don't have to throw post routes to get great stats no I can just throw it quickly to one of the fastest players in the entire nation and let him burn this defense he caught it into the end zone touchdown Spartans he has been Surgical Precision passes using the scaffold the fine instrument rather than the blunt one and the defense has had absolutely no answer for it just he's been down their throats all game long a step ahead understanding what he's seeing and just destroying this defense now they'll try to tie it up with the two late looking for a man it's child he's got it the two-point try is good and we are tied here in the fourth so a scoring drive there of 83 yds and they Clos the deal with the seven Y for the score quarterback spits it out and they pick up the first really nice pick up there as they have it out to the 44 with a first down no huddle here for the offense going up top on first down skips away from pressure on the run an Neil slide to avoid the big hit looking to push the pace with the no huddle yeah I think you're just seeing the experience this guy has right he's so poised and initially he's flushed out of the pocket nothing's open and he doesn't panic he's not throwing it away he's not sliding early he just knows where the defense isn't and he's able to attack that space with his speed get a positive play in the dead center of the field as they try to convert this third and short from the gun wants to pass catch in the middle it's mgw he's got first down yardage as they move it to the 44 no huddle offense to the line really nice job there by the quarterback understanding that it's Zone coverage on third down you're going to have to find someone working into a soft spot get the ball out of your hands quickly make an accurate throw and pick up the first well done they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three the hand to the running back they knock him down but they'll mark it beyond the line to gain and it's a first down for Boston College this is a guy that can find you the hit yardage that play he just pushes the pile to get that first down just inside the 35 first and 10 from the 34 and they dialed up a shot play but they couldn't make the connection oh that is a throw that is just going to haunt this quarterback he had his Target wide open running deep that should be a touchdown with the Q over threw him that is going to haunt this quarterback tonight easy looking to throw it's castios and he was hit just as he was releasing the pass and it falls to the ground incomplete now doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls incomplete on Third and long try to convert through the air quarterback feeling that pressure and he's knocked down at the 42 that Defender is a matchup nightmare for any offensive lineman the block he's got athleticism he's got length he's got flexibility he put it all in display on that side and he rushes it right through the upright is Good from 59 after putting up the field goal they're set to kick it away and they thought about a return Then thought better of it they'll bring it out to the 25 the Spartans have it back on offense hoping to play some good balls it's a one finally makes the Stop and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for quarterbacks Palmer I bet you would have loved been able to just Flip It Forward that counts as your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB you wouldn't have been the only All-American in this booth David if I were allowed to had push
