[Music] welcome to Tampa Raymond James Stadium and while it is indeed home to the 2021 Super Bowl champion Buccaneers it is also the home field for the USF Bulls and the Clash that we have in store today today two teams get set to square off in an interc conference battle in the AAC as we'll see the UAV Blazers taking on the south Florida blls glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis David Po and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to Tee It Up [Music] [Music] and the Bulls will kick it away to start to kick this one and he's going to bring it out that gamble did not pay off as they bring him down at the 12 yd line so UAB will have some work to do after that short return and here comes this quarterback this entire offense is built around him he is the engine of the entire team I mean he's the leader he's the alpha everybody looks towards him he's been doing it all year long everybody believes in this young man big opportunity big stage you can dance around and look for space or you can throw the stiff arm at him he gets it out to the 17 the Blazers in the hurry up now the play fake throws to the wide out and that's going to be incomplete a lot of contact on the play but no Flags it'll be third down it's third down we'll see if they go back to the air after the incompletion it's third and five back to pass it's Zeno receiver looks it in it's complete and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains it's tough on the defense there third down you're in zone coverage everybody's watching the quarterback and you're trying to make a break on the ball but he just got it out of his hands too quickly and the throw was too accurate really nothing you can do there and it's now a fresh set of down and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play got eight on first down now looking at a second and two wide out in motion looking for a physical attack from the gun slams ahead for a yard out to the 33 no huddle offense to the line some third on Third and short the power run here they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and the Blazers will try to pin them back with the punt they'll have to punt for the first time this afternoon first one of the day is booted away they ran him out there four times in the victory last week and he'll work his way on the return out to the 35 yd line before he stopped so the USF blls offense will go to work for the first time today as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of it yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in big games like this he'll pull it on the read picks up the first down and gets down to avoid contact this quarterback is so dangerous and it looked like the defense had him coralled it looked like they were ready for him to keep the football but that quarterback is just too good he's like a water bug so good short area quickness able to make guys miss then go get the first and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 Brown wants the pass he's going for the big play and the pass is intercepted and they'll drag him down after a good return turn on the interception and the senior just snatched the ball out of the air and gave it back to his offense okay so here comes the offense returning to the field wants to throw on first down off the play fake catch in the middle it's Jones they'll get the first down it's spotted on the 49 the Blazers are in the hurry up great spot to attack there right off the turnover try to strike and keep them reeling absolutely coaching 101 such change when you create a turnover and you get the ball back on offense attack attack attack use the momentum try to make a big play got it behind the line it's Thomas and it is a good idea to gang tackle first guy couldn't get him second guy finally did and that's un up for a first down they think there's room to run to the right here knocked down at the 35 after a pick up of three got three on first down it's second and seven he's looking to throw caught over the middle it's Thomas and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop [Applause] they'll go to the ground smashes through and he runs it in for the score touchdown UAV UAV he'll try to tack on one more Precision blocking up front created the open Lane and the running back followed it beautifully yeah it's pretty easy to follow an offensive line that makes those holes and just gives you a caravan all the way to the end zone what an unbelievable job blocking up front Z it bouns through the back of the end zone it'll be a Touchback South Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field after that last pick David they really need to take care of the ball this time no doubt and Pa I want to know what spur said to you on the sideline after a kick do that again and you'll be right here beside me for the rest of the game you got to go out you got to call your plays and I hope this coaching staff isn't going to be afraid to throw at this drive able to run it out to the 28 on first down now it's second and seven getting some heat snagged in the middle it's Atkins he's got enough for the first down they'll spot it at the 37 that was a nice pickup running the drag route and finding that quiet soft spot in the zone yeah drag routes not only work against man coverage they work against zone two if you can find the soft spot and the quarterback gets it to him early he can turn up field and you saw that right there hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver he didn't have a whole lot of time to get rid of that one the defense was all over him right after the snap no wonder that thing fell Incomplete Back to the line after the incompletion second and 10 from the 37 easy try to get the edge with a quick touch pass he is stopped behind the line of scrimmage they'll lose yards on that one well I love the aggressive nature of the defense on that play everybody playing with eye discipline they saw the pre- snap motion they knew who had the football and you saw guys play with excellent Instinct running downhill and making a tackle on Third and long no secret what he needs here and that's incomplete a Defender all INE ball to the ground fourth down coming up the ball s will bring the punt team onto the field gets his first one of the day away and that matches his total from that Victory last week and the coverage Team all over it and the punt is down inside the 40 UAB has the ball back ready to send the offense out to go to work and David how they would love to stick it in the end zone one more time after that last drive and once you get the defense on their heels and you back them off a little bit you get in a little bit of Rhythm it's really hard to stop Jesse and they're going to try to do it again right here and if you're this play caller you're loving what's happening right now because everything you dialed up on that last Drive ended up working out you're just looking at your play sheet everything you're picking is working let's see if they can pull it off again here and the Blazers want to move quickly moving the running back trying to get the D to tip its hand grab near the marker it's Jones he's got first down yardage across the 50 they'll mark it at the [Applause] 49 from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back and a decent gain there before the defense makes the Stop and here comes the offense on second down the quarter comes to a close and UAB is on top we put one in the books Let's have a look at our game summary theyve switched into the field and we're ready to get things started here in the second got will'll start the quarter offense about to snap it on second down they go to the ground fting off the defender and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one we'll see if they go back to the run here on third down third down trying to pick it up on the ground he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short trying to be physical trying to win the battle up front almost there Palmer just short fourth and inches yeah and he was so disappointed he didn't pick up that first he's looking over to the sidelines right now asking for the ball again here on Fourth and I don't care where you're at on the field fourth in inches I like me I like my chances of getting that running the play I feel comfortable with getting the first down PS through the defense got room to work they make the stop at this running game moves to change as they get the first down the Blazers come to the line with a new set of [Applause] downs quick release by the QB nice completion here to this wide receiver and you're going to see this receiver line up in different spots all over the field all game long defense has got to keep their eye on where this guy is because they know he's a big part of this offensive success got the back over the middle and the completion gives him a fresh set of downs and keeps this drive moving to the air it's Zeno looking to the end zone and it's caught Blazers T and wait just a second the officials going to take a second look at this one and they take another look at the play but the officials on the field we right and the play will stand and it's so underrated the the relationship between a QB and a wide receiver the timing the ability to know where he's going to be and be accurate the football that's what leads to nice touchdowns Jesse well the chemistry between these two guys has to be great when you're throwing into because coverage is going to be tight the throw might not be perfect but this is something these two guys have been repping in practice over and over and over and he's paying dividends now on the game nice job executing all of the assignments that they put a stop to that return at the 22 South Florida has it back and the Bulls offense will return to the field now we'll get a chance to see if they can answer that last score trailing by 14 Jesse Yeah and at this point of the game I feel like offensively you should going to take a shot and the Deep shot is complet complete inside the 35 yd line and the defense couldn't Coral him and he took it all the way touchdown bll and after the extra point they've cut the lead in half down 14-7 that drive not too taxing on the Playbook One play put it in the end zone just like [Applause] [Music] that out of the end zone he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the offense set for a first down play the give to the back they stop him after a 6yd run out to the 24 and the Blazers will hustle to the line from the gun the ground game finds his way ahead for three out to the 27 yd line they'll try to move the ch on Third and short from the [Applause] 27 they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker tackled but he has a first down and that's a nice third down conversion for this offense and I tell you what the struggle for this offense has been stringing those first downs together they're not in the top 50 in college football in first downs they'll get one and then they kind of stall let's see if they can put multiple first downs together get one of those long drives going second down after the incompletion looking at second [Applause] down pre- snap Motion in the back field looking to throw it's Zeno takes the easy one to the back and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum trying to move the sticks on third down through the air and the ball is picked off just a small return but a big play as they have it now at the 45 well I love the job by the coaching staff there defensively matching the Personnel of the offense putting their dime package out on the field so you bring out the extra defensive back you're anticipating a pass perfect timing to run that personnel and you get the pick they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground to cover to pick up the first picked up some yardage on the ground now here comes second down from the shotgun they'll run it they'll wrestle him down just short of the first down I don't even think they're going to bring out the change to measure this one yeah and the running back didn't get much here but you know you clearly want to always establish the tempo run the football be consistent make that defense physically Meet The Challenge on the option he'll toss it they'll finally make the tackle but that option was executed to Perfection been really impressed watching this offense this year how good they are on third down the reason they're so efficient they don't have penalties they keep these third Downs manageable and they've got a special talent at running back that can find his way to the sticks comes out throwing on first down and they couldn't connect on the Deep shot let's see if things get worse there's a flag on the field which way is this going to go [Applause] and the defender just way too handsy on that last play you could see all the contact as the ball was in the air you simply can't do it and the referee's caught [Applause] it the offense comes back out with a new set of downs after the penalty wide receiver shows motion touch pass on the Jet Sweep and he's a real nowhere man tackled in this no gain land I like offenses being creative I'm not sure if that was the best place to call that play I think this offense needs to think about just doing things a little bit more by the book they've got a lot of good Playmakers you don't have to reinvent the wheel this early in the [Applause] game and now on second down for this offense [Applause] now on the option quick TOs and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pick up this running back just doesn't go down easily it's just difficult for defenses to get him on the ground not overly huge but if I'm an offensive coordinator I'm going to continue to find ways to feature him and just you know what let his talent do the rest looking to move the change they throw it complete to the left touchdown South Florida What A Catch and run for six each and every week I think this coaching staff does such a good job of scheming ways to get this guy the football in the passing game and defenses can't cover him with that last catch this now his 10th receiving touchdown on the season all tied up and just about set to kick it away [Applause] let's see what he can do with the return didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 UAB regains possession of the Blazer offense back onto the field boy they hope this next Drive is more productive after throwing a pick last time Jesse Yeah and the coaches did a good job on the sideline there just talking to the Young quarterback and making sure he's able to turn the page calm him down to go out and refocus this drive yeah and some people do that better than others but you got to show some trust in him maybe get the ground game going help around him a little bit with this system dropping back it's Zeno makes the grab over the middle the offense will quickly use a timeout it's a nice job running the in route there by the receiver and the best thing he did after he made his break he didn't Trail and fade away he actually attacked the football that's a good lesson for young receivers out there watching they stop him just a think are too short of the first and man what they can do on second down here back to the air one more time looking to take a shot and it goes through his hands oh he had an explosive play right there for the taking but couldn't reel it in in the dead center of the field as they try to convert this third and short pressure coming and this sophomore able to reach some havoc and get the sack timeout is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this big down the Blazers will line up to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away felds to punt and tries to help improve that field position he'll get it to about the 25 before they put a stop for the return South qua ready to send the offense back onto the field how big is this drive scored a touchdown the last time they had it defense gets a stopped and now it's up to them in a tie game all right so if you're the offensive coordinator here let's dial it in who are your best matchups and best Playmakers to take advantage of this golden opportunity yeah I'm and here's a fumble way behind the line how about that alert play from the defense to Corral that fumble touchdown UAV the defense takes matters into their own hands and the defense comes with the blitz nice job getting to the quarterback and don't just get there try to strip that football out they get the QB to the ground the balls out they scoop it up take it all the way back to the house for six here he comes from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs [Music] Brown will throw it trying to get behind the defense and they can't make the connection going for a big play on first down the incomplete pass leaves him with second down quarterback reacting to what the D is showing on second down wants to throw going back to the well another deep ball and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge game if he could have held on Third and 10 still back up inside their own 20 this drive hasn't really gotten started he'll toss it crosses the 30 he got away lioy run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down and the Bulls come to the line with a fresh set of downs going up top on first down oh he's going to take a shot at the DB and he makes the catch inside the 20 touchdown balls a great catch and run for six and the passing game comes through man and we need more of that in the second half an extra point away from tying this football game you Trail a little bit in the first half stayed calm if this passing game can continue to heat up look out in the second half they got the late touchdown on the board now about to kick it away and hoping the defense can keep them from answering here's a return turn from The End Zone he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 UAB has the ball back ready to send the offense out to go to work now they're backed up here Jesse wonder how aggressive they're willing to be I think it's going to come down to how much confidence they have in this quarterback in his decision making because you cannot throw an interception at this part of the field with this little time line and I think that's conversations you've had with a young fell on the sidelines being like what are you comfortable with right here that we can run maybe stay aggressive but make sure I don't make that mistake the incompletion leads to Second and 10 29 reload aler alert aler from the gun they'll try to impose their will that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there one more snap coming before juice boxes and orange slices running behind that left side they'll knock him down and that'll take us to halftime first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connor and our halftime update gentlemen you've had yourselves a superb broadcast so far today in Tampa and it' be easy to say these two offenses are glad we've hit halftime based on their respective performances it would also be accurate turnovers and sacks have told the story so far and you got to believe the play calling has been the issue right time to shred those game plans and just get back to basics and with that let's send it back to the guys inside Raymond James Stadium all right Kevin about ready to get things cranked back up here and the Blazers will kick it off to start the second half and he takes this from inside the five he was looking for more running room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 South Florida has it back and the Bulls offense will return to the field first drive of the second half always fun to watch you see what type of tweaks were made at the half especially when you're locked up in a ball game like this one yeah and it's been a good game I mean it's been a little bit of back and forth and a feeling out process and now once you get in the second half who's going to get aggressive Palmer who's going to take some shots try to make some plays and really go for it yeah it's interesting I think his play caller right now you learn a lot about these coaching St with respect to who does make the best adjustments there's a lot of coaches that believe we're just going to be who we are we're going to keep doing what we do we're just going to do it better time to take a shot and he reels it in inside the 30 touchdown USF and that one will give him the lead really nice job working the route getting himself open he's able to locate the football snag it out of the air this guy now has five receiving touchdowns on the a lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive 21 looks as if the returner will try and field this one really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 UAV regains possession of the Blazer offense back onto the field on the move it's BBE shakes off the defender on the move at the 30 just what they were looking for to get this drive rolling there out to the [Applause] 35 wide receiver now comes in motion quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep the defense wouldn't let him loose there and it was a completion but they lost yardage the Blazers moving quickly to the line here's a quick throw out to the left and they pick up just a few on that completion they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one back to throw it's Zeno unloads it left he's got it just gashing this defense a big Gainer to the 40 yd line and the Blazers are flying down the field that's What's So Scary About This offense they've got guys in the perimeter that can change the game in one single play and you saw it right there too much speed on the perimeter to create that explosive play that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop give to the running back keeps the legs moving he rolls all the way down to the 5 yd line before they finally get him stopped first down physicality wins football games being able to run the football and create balance and and right here just chews up another first down gives you another chance to maybe continue to run the football and I feel like this guy too is just an explosive play waiting to happen his vision his quickness and he's got a burst if you give this guy just a crease he's going to hit it and right now and he takes it to the house touchdown UAV touchdown wow this offense they have a lot of faith in this running back knowing if they get down into this area of the field he can get it done and he can answer the Bell two rushing touchdowns already for this offense after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again on the move from inside is five they find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 South Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field David they' love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well fires the pass intercepted and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick tell you what when you come out of your own End Zone you know in the shadow of your own End Zone a lot of bad things can happen you want to got to get a few first downs get some space so if you punt after that point you can pin them a little bit the Deep this is the exact opposite of what happened now you set them up in beautiful scoring field position already really bad play by the offense the Blazers are threatening on first and [Applause] goal they get him on the ground at the three yd line but this defense is taking some punches second and goal for this offense Get Set set FP touch trying to pound their way in touchdown Blazers and they take it in for six more points UAV this guy just has a nose for the end zone and you love his ability to find creases use his speed in the open field and go score he's been really good for his offense early this year that already his fifth rushing touchdown on the season about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown he'll bring it back from inside as five and the returner will be brought down south Florida has it back in the Bulls offense will return to the field well let's see if this drive goes better than the last one they were in and out quickly after the quick pick David yeah first play big mistake man and he's all bottled up and now it's worse the ball's loose how about that alert play from the defense to scoop it up touchdown UAV not content to to get the fumble they scored with the fumble and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead the kickoff team just about set to go and that defense is eager to get back out there after the scoop and score he'll start the return inside his SP really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 this drive will start from the 19 yd line [Applause] quarterback checking the [Applause] play used the play fake now to throw looking for a deep man and is knocked away and incomplete the defensive back staying in phase and batting it away let's see what they've got on second down after the incompletion back to the passing game oh kinds of room to throw that one in there he's close to the first down but they're going to Mark him just a little short and this offense can ill afford to come up empty on this drive already trailing by multiple possessions Brown wants to pass it's incomplete and he's lucky to get that most intercepted the Bulls will call on their punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away catches it at the 30 that Nifty return sets up the offense and negates some of the yardage on the punt UAB has the ball back ready to send the offense out to go to work this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer is a different animal now you got to protect it you can tell they were paying attention in practice this week in the film room because they have gone out everybody right now on the same page really nice stop there from this senior leader and the Blazers racing to the line in the hurry up [Applause] third on third down he drops to throw it's caught crosses the 30 he got awayan and they'll do more than move the chains they'll move that thing more than 30 yds down the field before he's finally stopped un up for a first down they're looking to pass from the Red Zone caught in the back field it's Jones the defense wouldn't let him loose and even though it's a completion they lost yardage well give the defense credit on that one cuz they knew coming into this one that they were going to try to get this receiver the ball in a variety of ways they were ready for the screen there and they create a negative play that play just never had a chance a knock him down for a loss of five they're close enough for a makeable field goal from the 26 but they'd love to convert this third in Long got it set up on the outside no sir not this time the defense was there and ready for that [Music] one the quarter comes to a close and UAB is on top let's take a quick look at the national rankings to see how this playoff race is shaping up one more period to go and we'll see just how much fight they've got left in them and as we get ready to start the fourth quarter they'll open with a field goal attempt and if they can make this and turn it into a three-score game they'll have this one all but locked up and it's right down the Boulevard and that lead grows even bigger let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got Gentlemen let's take a look at what's happening in this exciting college football game Stanford has the lead right now but there's no John Elway on this team and that's why we have a tight one there on the farm they're up by 11 over SMU we promise to keep you posted on what goes down in this exciting college football match up and how about that one Kevin will be keeping an eye on everything going on elsewhere after the incompletion it's second and 10 from their own 25 they've got the screen set up oh he left him grabbing he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense fresh set of downs after the completion [Applause] the receivers telling the quarterback what they see brown will throw it he spins that thing down the middle and this is dropped oh my goodness sometimes you're just too open you know it's one thing to take shots early in a game when the defense may not be expecting it but at this point fourth quarter you're trailing by a lot they know you're going to do it and the defense was expecting that one great job in the back end he was to throw it again blasted as he lets it go that pass is incomplete and they might be fortunate it wasn't not free for a fumble it'll be third down they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here got it in the middle it's Atkins and he can't hold on to the ball at the end of this big game everybody needs a little luck and the offense just got it by Falling on that fumble 42 he'll come out throwing on first down unloads to the wide out and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play and the Bulls want to pick up the tempo they'll try to get it in with the Run touchdown bulls and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house and this running back is so d dangerous down close to the end zone he's got wiggle he's got great vision and burst and he showed all of those attributes right there almost ready to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown on the run from inside his own five he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 UAB regains possession of the Blazer offense back onto the field Jesse they had to kick a field goal the last time they had yeah and often times early in games you're just trying to find your Rhythm some things work some don't on that first drive Dave it' be interesting to see what happens here in the second Drive yeah you got to feel for the defense now you understand what they're trying to do what their game plan is now you get to go into phase two of your game plan fast motion from the offense they'll ride the hot hand not much working there it'll be second and nine tried to pound it on first down now back to the line at this this point of the game the offense has the lead the offensive coordinator knows they want to keep running the football so he's going back he's looking at his playlist and he's saying which runs work the best for me in this game what can I lean on right here to make sure we win this [Music] one looking for a man it's Zeno almost intercepted and what a momentum swing that could have been but they still force a fourth down the Blazers send out the punt unit he's going to try to flip the field with this [Applause] one now on the return and the coverage team able to wrestle and down south Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field how about that last drive just carved him up in the air David yeah and how about that quarterback you gave him the ball and he delivered the goods great job taking apart the defense Jesse on that last drive he really did DAV I mean that was a Master Class and just reading coverage and being accurate quarterback making adjustments with his receivers looking to throw on second down it's complete to the left at the 40 there he goes he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the six for a first down this offense is like running a Perfection drill in practice against air chunk play after chunk play and here they come again wants to throw on first down it's complete on the right side he's one out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down well the defense did a nice job taking everything away down the field but once the drag route was caught they just couldn't rally to the ball carrier in time to make a tackle and as a result new set of downs they're working that left side and he strides his way into the end zone down south Florida well if the momentum hadn't shifted before certainly has now it has and now you got some game pressure right that's beautiful now the defense comes out get you stop get aggressive but the offense a little bit of pressure now cuz they know if the ball goes back to the other side they can lose this ball here he comes with the return and the returner goes down UAB has the ball back ready to send the offense out to go to work after giving up that last touchdown they still got the lead but now feeling a little bit of pressure to answer with one of their own David and it gets a little bit tight listen we're getting later in the ball game this offense punted last time they got to find a few plays Palmer that they really love here steal some momentum back in this ball game they do David and after watching their defense just get gashed down the field that last Drive the dream drive for this offense would be to matriculate the ball down the field eat up some clock and finish it off with a touchdown and the Blazers come to the line in the hurry up third wants to throw it's Zeno he's got it down the middle nice pitch and catch there and they'll have enough for the first down he threw that one with some serious Heat this senior quarterback doesn't need a lot of space to get it in [Applause] there the pull and throw off the RPO he's brought down solid pickup but a little bit short of the first down clock continues to run and they'll be happy to wind it all the way down before they snap it [Applause] pre snap motion quarterback trying to get a read going over the top and how about that DB getting a hand in there and forcing the incomplete pass nice job in coverage there offense trying to take a shot downfield the defender able to tip that one up in the air and force it incomplete wants to throw on third down quickly complete and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down we've reached the two-minute warning in this offense trying to milk this clock and keep time on their side the Blazers are rolling down the field they'll run it trying to drain time off the clock and he's
