[Music] welcome to the swap home of the florig Gators have we've long Been Told it is here that only the Gators Get Out Alive there's nothing quite like a great rivalry matchup in college football the bitterness the intensity the lifetime of memories that will come as a result of what we're about to see in this one as we'll see the number 23 team in the country the Miami Hurricanes taking on a team from the SEC the foror glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with in the booth guys we are ready to te it up the kanes will get us started with the opening kickoff and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 the gator offense takes the field for the first time today they're always butterflies to start a game but when you have a rivalry like this the adrenaline is pumping on on overdrive guys they aren't all the same we say that but we know differently the blood is boiling the temperature is hot Jesse you want this week more than most yeah and David we've played in these games before everything just seems to be heightened right the game seems to be moving faster the crowd noise feels louder your composure will be tested early in a game like this and they sniff that draw out when the draw unit you really have to sell that pass like you're going to throw the ball down the field but the defensive line the defense was not biting it you could tell they were ready for it came got on the running back got him on the ground quick fast they have relish this tight victory since the last time these two got together po it's just winning is beautiful and when you beat your rival and you get those bragging rights Palmer it is a glorious thing for a whole year and that defense gets to him and down he goes at the nine and that is how you silence this rocket crowd defensively on the road first drive of the game setting the tone getting a huge sack on third [Applause] down and the Gators will line up to punt it away three and out they got stuck in Reverse they hope the punt can bail them out so from his own End Zone the punt is away he gets a block he was able to get that ball up to the 48 yd line before he stopped on the return so Miami's offense taking the field first chance we have to see them today one way to mitigate the explosive capabilities he has on the outside is be physical with him and this dude will do that he will do that and you don't see a lot of offenses take the top off this D because of this guy roaming around in the middle of the field he is a true center fielder so this is going to have to make plays I just just such a great job of getting guys on the ground a lot of people are in position but he makes plays so him versus a dynamic wide receiver on the outside would be a great match up and the caves come to the line in the hurry up from the gun the running back tries to hit the hole that play just never had a chance a knock him down for a loss of five so the last thing you want to do is start the game first drive go three and out they won't do that here and they get to him and sack the quarterback and they'll stop the drive on Downs tell you what coaches catch heat a lot nowaday especially on social media I expect him to catch a lot of heat fourth down long long yard situation on your own territory and you want to go for it and you fail and you're surprised you definitely shouldn't be surprised just don't check your mens excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down the Gators look to do some damage in the Red Zone the give to the back and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 the hand off to Johnson he'll get that one all the way down to the four yd line before St that's the beauty of misdirection in the Run game right you try to show the defense one look and then you come back and hit him the other way when they're not expecting they'll keep it on the ground for first and goal he's got it down to the one yard line right on the doorstep of P offense trying to pay it off on second and goal caught close to the marker it's Wilson TCH down for and they jump on top and what a nice start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in a rhythm nice start this offense they'll try to add another to their lead and he's got the extra point and it's seven nothing to start this one a very efficient five play scoring drive it was capped off by a one yd touchdown pass from a couple of yards deep he'll bring it out the rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the 13 here comes the hurricane offense looking to gather a little more strength they were really aggressive going for it in their own end last time and put them in a tough spot David yeah aggressive Reckless they got to find the balance with this offense to really be productive and last possession they went for they rolled an ice Palmer and it didn't work out for yeah if you're better on third down moving forward though you can keep yourself out of those situations on the outside it's Restrepo he steps out of bounds but he's got enough for a first down throw him to the spot and that's exactly what he did to pick up the first down and that's so many hours of doing this together you know exactly when he's going to break on that out route you know what kind of speed he has cuz we thrown it so many times nice Rhythm and timing and you could tell that was experiened between receiver and quarterback grabbed in the back field it's Martinez and the completion gives him a fresh set of downs and keeps this drive moving and the Hurricane's in the hurry up I just love quarterbacks that aren't greedy and that aren't always trying to throw the Home Run ball right second down you're in your own end of the field the guy you want to throw to is not open just find the bat he'll go do something positive with it this guy is a weapon and you got to find him in the passing back he's going to pass he lost one down the sideline and that one's incomplete worth taking a shot there but couldn't hook up I know you want to prepare for every game the same way but there's just something different about rivalry games Jesse it's because ree I think players are aware that games like this Define your legacy as a player your record in rivalry games is something that people are going to talk about for years and years down the road you have got to show up and play your best football in games like this Hees it deep throws into double coverage and it's picked off he'll try to take it back and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick sometimes the quarterback puts that sip on it you can hear it sometimes he uses the lob wedge where it takes a little time to get there that time he used the lob wedge and the defender came in and made the interception big play for this defense here [Music] [Applause] Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense what a good mix of plays keeping that defense off balance last time David and Reese they don't know if it's run or if it's pass they got them right where they want this defense doesn't know how to react from getting punched in the mouth on that last dri this next Drive David I think you keep running the football because that sets up the play action it sets up the RPO game and then you keep this defense guess grabbed in the middle it's fer and oh he was Off to the Races after the catch and they finally drag him down lining up from the 34 on first down wide receiver coming across in motion hand off from the shotgun and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up oh man there's big hitting going on the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running [Applause] attack we've come to the end of the quarter and it's Florida on top one period in the books and let's take a look at the stats Miami [Music] [Applause] Z they are lined up and ready to go and get things started here in the second they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first down linebackers moving trying to confuse the quarterback he's open on the right finding open areas and he'll haul it in and take it to the end zone touchdown Gator this offense is really dangerous because of the weapons they have on the perimeter of the field and you're seeing they go to these guys early and they try to give them opportunities in one-on-one situations and verly down the field two passing touchdowns now early for this offense [Applause] now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead a very efficient five play scoring drive and the scoring play coming on a 56 yd touchdown pass on the move from inside is five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 and here comes that Miami offense back onto the field this is when the pressure can ramp up a little bit on an offense David when they start feeling the heat to answer a score and I think being down 14 you can kind of feel that way but dude if you put a good drive together this is a seven-point game so Palmer no need to pay I was just going to say David I mean this thing can flip quick you go down score all of a sudden your defense gets a stop or who knows better yet gets a turnover this game is entirely different he'll be stopped just short of the 20 at the 19 give him one better find the ear plugs here comes the noise backing this defense on third down what a job to lay out and make the catch he threw that one with some serious Heat this senior quarterback doesn't need a lot of space to get it in there to the ground with the back able to scr three yds out of that one somehow it's second and seven and The KES want to crank the tempo the play action fake fires to the tight end and they'll spot it at the 45 that's good enough for a first down no reason to panic when you see those extra bodies coming just find the big tight head well and the great ones do that the great ones are okay you want to Blitz I know my answers I'm all right I'll stay patient find the match up this time it was the tight end finds the he lobs one high down the left side and the DB making a huge play knocking it away down field his defense is heating up they got an interception in the last possession you could tell breaking on the football really really well seeing where the quarterback's throwing it going to try to get it got another hand on it almost had another interception throws for the tight end fires into traffic picked off takes it the other way and a big return after the int sets up the offense for this possession this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision Mak [Music] the gator sending the offense back to work they've jumped on them executing at a high level and up 14- nothing David this is the exact start you want I mean offense is playing great defense has gotten stops you're in a position now Palmer to put the hammer down and get a three possession lead I'm really impressed with their physicality on both sides of the ball early in this one they've been winning in the trenches so here on offense keep running the football and throws toward the end zone and that pass ers intercepted and they blows in on him after a good return on the interception and defensive backs you think don't have good hands the big fell shows it how about that defensive back going up and getting the interception nice job breaking on the football you say that's why you play defense cuz you don't have hands yeah I bet the Roar of the crowd trying to fuel this defense to keep them pinned in their own end wants to throw on first down off the play fake and it's picked off for the third time today and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back forto what a gamechanging play by this defense nice job you got them backed up in their own territory coming out now you force the turnover set your offense up with some great scoring field position trying to find his man on first down down quick strike complete takes it all the way down to the four after making the grab and they're set up the Gators line it up with a first and [Applause] goal they'll try to get it in with the Run he worked his way ever closer all the way down to the one yd line now on second and goal quick touch pass to the receiver the first thing you have to do to make these plays successful offensively is I have to block The Edge I I got to get my speed in space they didn't do a good job of getting that guy out there in space where he could really use his Jets nice job by the defense understanding it seeing it rout and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack all right defense nice job early in the game playing well with your backs against the wall the job's not over yet though this is an defense that has shown that they go for it on fourth down especially during these situations now on fourth down they'll send out the field goal unit it's good and that was dead solid perfect and now the lead is even bigger they're really starting to extend that lead as they get ready to kick it away again he'll bring it out it's Restrepo they drag him down at the 22 he gambled a big return out of the end zone and came up a little short here comes the hurricane offense looking to gather a little more strength these guys have taken some body blows in the first half but now a chance to do something to feel a little better going into halftime ree they got to respond now they they they got to put points on the board right here cut into this deficit create a little bit of momentum cuz this one's going to get out of hand otherwise yeah there are a lot of offenses out there that might just say okay let's just regroup and figure it out this offense doesn't have time to do that they've got to be aggressive they've got to throw it down field they've got to straight up halfway there on first down it's second and five dropping back it's Ward rifles it down the middle and that's going to be incomplete going for broke on second down but third Down's coming up we'll see if they go back to the air after the incompletion it's third and five shotgun snap wants to throw it on third grab near the marker it's Martin he steps out of bounds but he's got a first down on the play the hurricanes come to the line with a new set of downs looking to go up top on first down he'll take a shot and good coverage there to knock it away and deny the score now on second down after the incompletion back to the air one more time he looks that one in nicely they stop him almost immediately short game there and still a little ground cover pick up the first they're facing a third down scrambling away grabbed behind the line it's a Royo timeout called here by the defense is the first one they've used this hand just not able to shake enough Defenders and comes up a little bit short and I think a lot of times on third down re you bet on your guy when you're an offensive guy you say okay he's going to break a tackle he's going to get North and South with the first down nice tackling by the defense understanding where they had to get to and forcing the fourth down running for it on fourth down the canes are stopped but not before getting the first down offense quick Tempo they're going to ride this running back he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see which way that's going to go offside defense that's just a mental error on defense you got to watch the ball I understand the quarterback shouting and he's clapping and there's all this crowd noise but you just got to hone in watch the football before you come out of your STS quarterback checking off to the air it's Ward quickly complete he gets it all the way down to the 5 yd line a terrific catch and run before he stopped there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer and now a chance not only to cut into the lead but play it just right and maybe the other team doesn't even get a chance to answer he let that thing fly quickly but he couldn't make the connection [Applause] he'll try to dial up a better one this time on second and goal from the five he's looking to throw got it he gets it in touchdown cage and I tell you what that passing touchdown man that should spark this whole team like The Comeback is more than on now like they got the touchdown they cut into the lead you want to get a stop and go into the half get all the juices all the excitement and be like listen the passing game's rolling we got this the come back's in full effect they got the late touchdown on the board now about to kick it away and hoping the defense can keep them from answering and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a [Applause] return Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense they've got some time to work with here Jesse and if they get a Down they might really get aggressive I'd be aggressive right out of the gate I'd be throwing for a first down if I get it and there was nowhere to go for this quarterback and down he goes just a great job defensively making him go through his progressions and he really didn't have time to do it and that's exactly what you do in zone coverage you drop in your spots you read the quarterback's eyes make sure you take away that quick stuff and a great job rushing the passer and getting the sack and he'll run across the sideline after the good game at the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update thanks so much guys and I need not tell you rivalry games always bring out a ton of emotion and no surprise we saw just that in the first half today and there is no better place to start this halftime than by reviewing how this wide out has been a Onan Wrecking Crew the kid's been everywhere and I love how he's willing to go across the but that he also has the Jets to burn these DBS on the Deep ball if this defense wants to actually come back in this one they better hide his creats and the coverage team able to wrestle him down and here comes that Miami offense back onto the field not hard to figure out why they Trail to start this third quarter three first half turnovers so if you're on offense let's just stay out of our way and find out what happens here in the second half we're not even giving ourselves a chance because we keep turning the football over if we can do that we've got a chance to come back in this game I think it's a crazy balance between being really aggressive in the second half and finding ways to make plays but also not shoot ourselves in the foot right like they didn't live well on that in the first half let's see if they can be a little bit more aggressive while still taking care of the football let me tell you this senior quarterback can flat fit it in a tight window they'll give it to the back showing off the arm I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when you decide to run it he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage third down and this offense is already in a world of trouble they can really use the conversion not to mention multiple scores and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up on fourth down he'll try to toss it and he going to be batted down they'll turn it over on down I like the idea to go for it there on fourth down you're basically at Midfield and you've got confidence in your guys to be able to go out you've got experience in this offense guys have made these types of plays before that time the defense stepped up they bowed up and made a better play and take over now you need your defense to get on the field in a sudden change situation and get you the football now here on second down see if they keep tossing it around to the air it's Ms receiver looks it in it's complete a quick tackle made but he's got plenty for the first down a new set of TS after the completion they'll go to the ground just enough room to gain a couple down to the 34 the big defensive tackles in the middle they're not always the best pass rushers but they are strong and I say country SC when they put their hands on you you feel it they lock people out on the line of scrimmage they create separation they rra running backs up and usually they don't get out the midst of those big third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off working that left side now offens has gain momentum with third down conversions like that they've got it at the 25 and the Gators are moving quickly down the field off the play fake on first down to throw fires into traffic intercepted what a beautiful sight not only are we big and strong and powerful and athletic you can add just have unbelievable hands to the mix cuz we can catch a football too just like those little DBS create turnovers Force interceptions let's go here comes the hurricane offense looking to gather a little more strength we'll see if that failed fourth down in their own end last time David sort of curbs some of the aggressiveness when you hear about it all the time in football go for it be aggressive the problem is when you get stopped sometimes it put you in a hole and jessing now the offense has to come out in the spot they were real disappointed not getting that first down you can see it on the sideline so let's just see that that's kind of galvanized them a little bit here to go make a statement and get some points line gets set first down looking to throw it's Ward takes the easy one to the back they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks and the canes racing to the line in the hurry up fre snap motion quarterback trying to get a read he wants to pass it on second down and it's incomplete going for the massive explosive play instead they're looking at a third down if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum on third down going up top trying to make magic on the scramble this senior quarterback never afraid to run it when he has to pick up a first down and the hurricanes come to the line with a fresh set of downs looking to move it through the air hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver after the incompletion Here Comes second and 10 from the 32 couldn't connect on first down now back to the air nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down at the 45 on it way oh it's on the ground life fall defense swarming on that loose ball it'll be a turn over I guess in this case the scramble giveth and the scramble taketh away and the ball was taken away and I'm not sure if he just didn't see an open guy downfield or if his receivers didn't do a good enough job on the scramble rule getting open but at the end quarterback held on to it way too long that allowed the defense to catch up to create take that back had absolutely nowhere to run the football actually is he counting I think he's counting to make sure there's only 11 guys on defense they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down line is set on third down scanning the field it's Ms and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack how frustrating for an offense to not only see the extra defensive back with the dime package but still have their quarterback get hit yeah when you go dime this is a passing situation and if you're a defensive lineman I'm pinning my ears back I'm not playing the slightest bit of run I don't care if they run the football I'm getting to the quarterback nice job understanding that rushing the quarterback getting him on the break they'll throw it on first down he'll pull it down and run well you're making a positive out of a negative and that time quarterback nice job buying time he's trying to throw the football downfield nothing there so instead of throwing it away and getting the incomplete just get what you can get and make this next down more manageable what a good run there he has enough for the first down this is why everybody grows up and wants to be an off coordinator and not a defensive coordinator because he can do that he drops back he's supposed to pass but you know what I'll just scramble around and I'll I'll just go get plenty of yards and pick them up and put them down and I'm faster than most of your other guys too so good luck sto him and the canes headed quickly to the line you get a guy who can do that on the outside and it's sort of been the DNA of Miami's program yeah just looking deep and he makes the catch inside the they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all [Applause] about the officials throw the flag but the offense won't need it they'll recline that and keep the big play the Hurricanes trying to cash it in on first and goal run in the Red Zone it's Martinez snowed under after a pickup of two they'll mark it at the eight time winding down in the quarter as they come to the line now the play fake and the pressure was too much they get him at the 15 no question they wanted to get the ball to their Playmakers and both receivers have come up big through three when you're dealing with a deficit like this it's all about somebody stepping up to make a play and you might as well start here in the fourth quarter on Third and long you'll need to push it down field another interception this guy just can't find his own players and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception nice job by this defense that might be the exclamation point fourth quarter I got a lead you bring on the nickel defense you know they're passing the football for plays just like that to make the and almost put this one away didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 to the air it's MERS got his man quickly no chance to run but still a solid pick up on that one this offense is not letting up guys they've got a lead here late and they are still taking shots they're still looking for explosive plays this defense just has not had an answer here all game long really nice pick up there as they have it out to the 44 with a first down it's a point in the game I think as a coaching staff where you really challenge your offensive line to go win the football game right we've got to lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stadium knows that's what's going to do ball is loose the defense snatches it and they're going the other way man you go from perfect position of strength I get to Salt this clock away I get to run this out I'm going to win to man now Lofts one high and deep and they couldn't connect on the Deep shot let's see if things get worse as a flag on the field which way is this going to go just an ill advised play by the defender to make contact with the quarterback after the throw and it cost his team oh look out the ball's free now the defense has got it going the other way he's loose down the middle he's at the 10 touchdown Forida don't just get the ball score with the ball and the defense did what a play by the defense there loose football country fum this is crazy doubt City nobody around I got to Pi that puppy up and do some damage with it nice job seeing the situation scooping it up making [Applause] sorry guys I really thought I had a game here for yall but it looks like I'm getting my butt who it sails out of the back of the end zone first down for this offense dropping back it's Ward looking deep down the right side and that'll be incomplete they tried to hit him with a big one on first down what the fezy he's not catching anything he's looking to throw he's not afraid to go deep and he's got it finally golly and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made they dialed up the perfect call Splendid execution now they've got it threatening first and 10 from the 27 unleashing one deep he's got it in the endi let's go touchdown baby one of the areas they really focused on for this receiver in the off season was we need you to make more plays for us in the end zone when we're taking shots we need to be able to step up and make tough catches and David what a grab right there and I think a lot of that has to do with trusting your guy knowing where he's going to be knowing when he's going to sit down when he's not so being on the same page and then having a guy that can go just when the ball is near him he's going to make the play just like he did right there for six points coming out with it it's Hawkins he's brought down at the 16 would have been much better off to take the Touchback the gator sending the offense back to work that last fumble proved to be costly as they cashed it in for a touchdown yeah and so this defense now is Juiced they're excited and ready to go so this offense David they've got to get something going yeah those turnovers can be contagious man it gets you excited and then when your offense takes it down the field and does something with it this offense better be ready to play against a motivated defense didn't find a lot of room let's give him two out to the 20 how bold will they be on third down after that last run to throw it's Ms he puts a lot of air under it down the sideline almost intercepted and what a momentum swing that could have been but they still force a fourth down the gator will try to pin them back with the punt he's going to try to flip the field with this one looking for a block it's Restrepo just a wall of Defenders everywhere he looks and he's guided out of bounds after a short return they'll come out on this drive and let it rip it's complete to the right I just got the feeling this defense is going to make it hard on him right they've got the lead it's late they're going to try to tackle everybody inbounds offense is going to have to really work for this and be smart you got to attack the sidelines you got to throw first downs you got to keep this thing moving vertically down the field these fans stepping up to help this defense on third down they're bring fires one high and deep and they can't hook up on the big play and that brings up a fourth down huge play here waad and this crowd is coming to help the defense buying some tie a deep throw as the clock winds down here's a first down but there is no time to lose as this offense gets to the line quickly from the Red Zone looking for a man coming going for it all and it'll be intercepted in the end zone taking it the other way and they capitalized not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position looking for a productive play on first down smart move to keep it on the ground to the 43 yd line and a first down for this offense linebacker shuffling around trying to keep the quarterback from getting a read might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one timeout is called the clock stopped with 26 seconds left I'll tell you this defensive end not only can he pass rush but he can play the run as well you see him beat the offensive lineman there trying to block him and get in the back field to make that tackle for loss that was impressive they'll give him a couple that leaves him with third and eight timeout called by the the defense 23 seconds left on the clock even if they don't convert picking up a few would give them a decision to make on fourth down is third and long from the 45 they'll try the Run collisions and Power on display and after all of that just back to the line of scrimmage timeout is called by the defense 19 ticks remaining the Gators will punt this one away he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight that is coverage just the way you draw it up don't even let him get started and they knock him down deep in his own end they've got him pinned back and they're trying to Rattle their L one deep down the right side he can't find his man and the clock stopped with six seconds left it's great for this quarterback to take shots down the field but you just don't want it to feel like a give up or a Chuck it up and going for the big play can't make the connection incomplete pass and one second remains one more play to pad the stats on Third and long try to convert through the air here's a throw down field late and the pass is incomplete and this ball game comes to a close this is why the passion of college football runs so deep the rivalries and when you lose
