Texas Dynasty vs SJSU EA Sports College Football 25 Gameplay

as they say around here Keep Austin Weird they're going to keep it electric today inside Daryl K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium home to the Longhorns today we have one of those games that test your focus top 25 team against an unranked opponent can you take care of business as we'll see a squad from the Mountain West the San Jose State Spartans taking on the number one team in the land the Texas longor glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm reys Davis David Po and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to tee it [Music] up and the Spartans will get us underway with the opening kickoff looks like he's going to try to return it he's got great speed he's got an alley and there he goes he will score touchdown Lorn people still F in the stands and he takes the opening kick off back to the house to fire up the crowd fire up his teammates a start for this up and the extra point is good and it's seven nothing they're lining up for the kickoff and let's see if this return team can answer with a score of its own and here's the return and the coverage team able to wrestle him down so San Jose State's offense will have plenty of work to do after that return was bottled up here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play while they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah they don't always show up in the boock more but these are the guys of the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed from the gun they'll give it on the inside they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one listen to this crowd just shaking the gers of this place trying to help their defense pocket starts to grab they're going to get him for a safety tried to make something out of nothing and still got stuck from the two so after that safety they'll kick it away from their own 20 on the move it's blue and he goes out of bounds after a nice pick up on that one so Texas's offense will have its first possession of the game as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of it yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in good games like this they're getting this guy lathered up good pick up on the ground and they'll Mark him down at the 39 so guys over the last few years there have been seismic changes to college football realignment naming withness but one of the biggest changes the transfer portal yeah and now guys that are unhappy or in a situation where they see something that they'd rather be in now you can leave and there is no penalty so a lot of recruiting Jesse on other people's teams that go on throughout a season yeah it's 365 and it's a lot of pressure on coaches to re-recruit their own players as well to try to keep those rosters intact but the transfer portal completely flints rosters upside down one team that struggles this year if they get one key addition it's a team potentially competing for a national championship next season hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they'd throw it again they make the tackle at the 33 but he's ripped off 15 yds and picked up a first down and the L horns come to the line with a new set of downs coming out on first down with the play fake fires to the right he's got him wide open and he Murs into the end zone touchdown Texas one thing this team is shown early this year it does not take them long to find their footing they get off to fast starts that was critical for them winning their first game and you've seen it here in this one too they show up ready to go there's no sleep blocking I think you got to give this coaching staff a ton of credit for putting their players in good positions to have success good job by the coverage unit to stop the Return Man the Jose State offense is back on the field to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really and the sack all the way back at the five they've got him P deep in their own end In This Crowd trying to help keep them there the give to the back he is going nowhere and stop at the line of scrimmage here comes the crowd trying to make it tough on Third and long give to the single back and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down the Spartans will line up to punt it away doesn't say much for your drive when you're looking forward to the punt he'll feel the punt and try to get some yardage he'll get it to about for 25 before they put a stop for the return I'm literally walking over that guy my man thank you so much for saving my RO that could have been really really bad I could have been benched but you got my back appreciate you my man he's going to pass all kinds of room to throw that one in there hit the afterburners kid touchdown longor and once he found open space the band by as well start playing and I tell you what this offense man we got a small sample size we only had one game where they were unbelievable last game but another score early in this football game this offense is looking like a forced to be reckoned here he comes from inside his own five and the coverage team able to make the tackles offense getting set for first down easy power football with the run and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 looking to pass it's Matthews and the sack all the way back at the five not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 trying to get to they come up with their second safety of the game you don't see that very often you could tell the defense smelled it they knew exactly where they were on the field put the pressure on him got him down in the enzone safety baby looking for a block it's blue and he'll run across the sidelines after the good gain and they'll get off one more play before the end into the quarter wants to throw on first down finds the tight end open space of the 25 oh look out there he goes a huge play and they finally get him out of bounds and a ver complete disaster on the final play of the first quarter guys it is Texas who holds the lead they came out and jumped on them early in the first let's take a break and look at the first quarter stats [Music] [Applause] now the challenge here they've taken a punch but they can't let it get out of hand as we start the second you get a play like that and you feel like you can go in and finish the deal it'll be first and 10 from just inside the 50 oh that move is going to leave them dizzy and this has got to be so demoralizing for this defense right now having given up multiple first downs on this drive somebody on defense has to step up make a play and stop the lead you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go the long HS come to the line in the hurry up to the ground to try to move the chains tackled after picking up the first down and you know big chunks like this don't happen unless you commit to the Run game you got to get those big boys up front into the game understanding I want to knock people got enough space and he Sprints to the end zone touchdown Texas and that's three touchdowns in two games just continuing to find the end zone continuing to make plays this guy is on Pace for a great season he's put the college football World on notes about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown he'll bring it out it's baates rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the 13 guys this San Jose State offense trying to get this ball moving and the last time they had the ball they wound up giving up a safety Jesse yeah that was UNG good the last time they had so they got to do something here offensively to get into a rhythm running and throwing the football try to find that and try to find something positive with this offense forget about the safety those don't happen very often try to get some first downs together get some good mojo game this defense has kept them backed up now one more stop and they can get off the field on Third and long looking to throw it's Matthews they're trying to get to it what a complete disaster what a terrible decision to run that bar backwards and take the safety the kickoff team lined up they'll have to get it back after giving up that safety well so much for putting your heels on the 10 and not going backwards not when you can return like this guy that's not what you want out of that kick return if you're that return guy you've got to make something happen you've got to be able to make a guy Miss that's why you're back there in the first place because of your athleticism but you have got to be able to generate better field position on that kickoff return second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning makes the tackle at the 22 but it's a 15 yd gain and now they're in business on first down from their own 22 the give to the bat they pick up half of it it'll be second and five really nice first down run and you're seeing why this running back isn't every down tight back he can run between the tackles he can run outside he can catch the football he can block this guy can trying to burn this defensive back and it's caught inside the 30 touchdown long hard and once he found daylight it was Katie Mar the door baby this offense is really dangerous because of the weapons they have on the perimeter of the field and you're seeing they go to these guys early and they try to give them opportunities in one-on-one situations and vertically down the field two passing touchdowns now early for this confidence lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive he'll start the return inside his five and the Return Man reaches the end of the line and down he goesan San Jose state has the ball and ready to go on the attack they find themselves in a pretty deep hole here but maybe a chance to grab a little momentum and regroup at halftime yeah a big chance like this is this is an opportunity this is the biggest opportunity in front of them in the game right now you got to get some points on the board you got to create something positive Jesse there hasn't been a whole lot to be positive about in the first half if I'm playing quarterback I'm locating my goto guy receiver who can I count on one-on-one to go and make me a play maybe even one on two who can go up catch the ball get us some yards and get us some points bought a little time let's It Go snagged in the middle it's they stop him almost immediately short gain there still a little ground cover pick up the first he's back to throw on second down and the pressure gets there and down he goes at the 18 timeout is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this big down hand off from the shotgun and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop referee signals time out it's the defense wanting to make sure that they have everything just right with a big play coming and the Spartans decide to pun it away that last punt basically flipped the field they'd like to do it again makes a move spin still running little pressure on the coverage team there and they'll stop him at the 47 yd line just enough time to get off one final play of the half quarterback checking off they'll throw it on first down oh he's going to try to hit him over the top it's incomplete and they tried to finish this quarter with a bang and couldn't quite connect we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update thanks guys looks like we've got a superb matchup in Austin today and there is no better place to start this halftime than by reviewing how this wide out has been a war onean Wrecking Crew the kid's been everywhere and I love how he's willing to go across the middle but that he also has the Jets to burn these DBS on the def ball if his defense wants to actually come back in this one they better hide his cleats and with that let's get it back to our FAS at DKR all right Kevin about ready to get things cranked back up here and the Longhorns will kick it away to crank up the second half he'll bring it back from inside to SP and the returner is stopped the San Jose State offense is back on the field nothing went right in that first half in the first order of business here try not to be embarrassed any further but the comeback is possible remember 2006 Michigan State St down 35 Northwestern at halftime they somehow came back and won the game but it all starts on one play and that has to happen here on this first drive for the offense yeah the first possession cuz your possessions you're only going to get so many possessions and you've got to score on every single one of them offense defense special teams have to play out of their mind but they have to believe third on Third and long a check down would be the last resort and it's been a long way I mean there's not much to point out that this offense has done well they're behind huge and they got no shot if they can't somehow find a way to protect their quarterback sometimes avoiding disaster is the best thing the punter just gets it out of there and they'll blow it dead around the 30 yd line and these pun returners only get so many opportunities to try to make plays and do they want to make them so much space back there when you put them the football but the thing is look at all these guys flying down the field all the speed on the field for that punt coverage team and you could tell they caught up with them with Force the fum and the explosiveness the big Gainer gets it to the 49 yd line on first down here comes this offense back to throw it's Manning gets it out fast and good coverage by the defense just a short game that completion leaves us with second and medium out of the gun to give to the back they get him on the ground after he gets enough to move the sticks the longh horns will snap it on First and [Music] 10 he wants to throw starting to feel a little pressure fires downfield he's got an open man touchdown Texas and the route is on Texas fight and fighting them through the air and on the ground rriv us in a now this team has consecutive wins and when you start expecting to find ways to win games and you expect that you will perform well enough to do so that's really hard to stop it's a mindset re this team has it right now you can tell their players trust each other big situations arise in games they're looking at each other in the Huddle on the sideline expecting to make the play that's going to help them win games this team incredibly mentally tough right now D and you start to build that mental toughness when you start to strain together positive weeks and you start to string together positive plays now you know you can do it it's not we talked about in the offseason oh we want to do this now you're starting to execute it and put it together on the
