STATE. IT IS FINALLY HERE. FOOTBALL SEASON. HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IS THIS WEEK. AND COLLEGE FOOTBALL OBVIOUSLY THIS WEEKEND. AND THE WEATHER IS GOING TO GET NICE JUST IN TIME FOR IT. IT IS. WE GOT TO GET THROUGH SOME STORMS FIRST THOUGH. YEAH. GREAT TAILGATING WEATHER COMING. OUR WAY FOR THE WEEKEND. NOT FOR TOMORROW. WE'RE LOOKING AT SOME STORMS. WE ARE WEATHER IMPACTS FOR THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM RISK AS WE GET INTO THURSDAY AFTERNOON. STAYING HOT THIS AFTERNOON WITH THESE HOTTER TEMPERATURES. WE KNEW THAT SOME STRONG STORMS WERE GOING TO BE HEADED OUR WAY, AND THAT'S GOING TO COME TOMORROW AFTERNOON. GOING INTO THE EVENING. HUMIDITY WILL DROP AFTER THAT, AND AS WE EVEN COAST INTO THIS UPCOMING HOLIDAY WEEKEND. SATELLITE RADAR CLOUDS ARE STARTING TO MOVE FURTHER OFF TO THE EAST, STILL HOLDING ON TO POLK COUNTY AND CENTRAL IOWA. BUT AS WE GO THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THIS MORNING, THEY'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO MOVE ON OUT. WE ARE GOING TO BE MOSTLY SUNNY, NOT EVEN SEEING MUCH RAINFALL FOR PARTS OF SOUTHERN IOWA NOW. STILL SOME ISOLATED STUFF, BUT NOT GOING TO BE TOO IMPACTFUL, ESPECIALLY AS WE GO IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS, HOUR BY HOUR. GOING TO HAVE THAT FOG THICKEN UP IN SOME SPOTS. THEN IT KICKS OUT PRETTY QUICKLY. IT DISSIPATES AND WE'RE CLEAR. WE'RE MOSTLY SUNNY THROUGHOUT THE DAY AS WE GO INTO TONIGHT. I KNOW HOUR BY HOUR, NOT REALLY PLAYING UP ANY TYPES OF STORM CHANCES OVERNIGHT. AROUND MIDNIGHT, GOING TO AROUND 2 TO 3 A.M., BUT THERE WILL STILL BE A CHANCE FOR SOME STORMS TO POP UP. NONSEVERE AT THIS POINT. BUT AS WE JUMP INTO THURSDAY, MAINLY IN THE AFTERNOON, THAT WILL BE THE BETTER CHANCE FOR SOME OF THESE STORMS TO FORM ONCE WE GET TO AROUND 2 TO 4:00, THAT'S WHEN WE CAN EVEN SEE SOME ISOLATED STORMS AND THEY CAN PICK UP, BECOME INTENSE AND EVEN A CHANCE FOR SEVERE WEATHER AT THIS TIME. WITH THOSE STORMS THAT DEVELOP A LITTLE EARLIER. BUT I'M REALLY FOCUSED. 4:00 GOING TO 6:00, MOVING IN FROM THE NORTHWEST. THE LINE OF STORMS THAT ARE EXPECTED AS A COLD FRONT MOVES OVER. BETTER CHANCE FOR SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE FOR THE NORTHERN HALF OF THE STATE, BUT MORE SPECIFICALLY INTO MINNESOTA AND EVEN PARTS OF WISCONSIN. BUT AS FAR AS WHAT WE'RE EXPECTING GOING INTO THE LATER EVENING HOURS IS 8:00. SO JUST AFTER SUNSET, THESE STORMS WILL BE PUSHING OVER THE METRO INTO POLK COUNTY AND EVEN SURROUNDING COUNTIES. BY THIS TIME. BUT AS WE GO INTO LATER ON IN THE OVERNIGHT HOURS, 9:00 TO 10:00, IT REALLY KICKS OFF TO THE SOUTHEAST AND REALLY STARTS TO DWINDLE. WE'RE NOT GOING TO SEE THE STRONG INTENSITY WITH THESE STORMS AFTER SUNSET. IT IS GOING TO START TO DIMINISH, BUT WE'RE STILL HOLD ON TO SHOWERS AND STORM CHANCES. BUT THAT WILL REALLY END AS WE GO TO VERY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING HOURS. AND LOOKS LIKE YOUR FRIDAY MORNING IS GOING TO BE MOSTLY DRY RIGHT NOW. THE SEVERE WEATHER RISK FOR TOMORROW. THIS IS IT. THAT TWO OUT OF FIVE CHANCE FOR THE PARTS OF NORTHERN IOWA, CENTRAL IOWA. BUT MAINLY THE STRONGER STORMS EXPECTED TO BE INTO MINNESOTA AND WISCONSIN. BUT WE'RE STILL GOING TO BE UNDER THE GUN UNDER THE THREAT OF THAT SEVERE WEATHER FOR TOMORROW. AS FAR AS THE RAIN TRACKER, WE'RE NOT EXPECTING A LOT OF RAIN, CLOSE TO AROUND A QUARTER OF AN INCH TO AROUND THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH, MOSTLY ACROSS THE STATE, BUT SOME SPOTS STILL COULD BEBE LOOKING AT A RK OF AROUND ONE UP TO TWO AND SOME SPOTS EVEN MORE THAN THAT TWO INCH MARK. AS FAR AS THE EIGHT DAYS GOING BEYOND THURSDAY AFTER THE STORMS. LOOK AT THIS WEEKEND AHEAD. IT'S GOING TO BE REALLY NICE. MID 80S FOR HIGHS SATURDAY UPPER 70S, COOLER, LESS HUMID FOR SUNDAY AS WELL.
