and the Texas state fair and for the better part of a century the Sooners and Longhorns have defined conferences national titles and how regions of the country are perceived based on the outcome of this game when these two meet everybody pays attention there's nothing quite like a great rivalry matchup in college football the bitterness the intensity the lifetime of memories that will come as a result of what we're about to see in this one as we'll see the number 25 live team in the country the Texas Longhorns taking on the winners of five straight the Oklahoma Sooners for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David poock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one [Applause] started and the long horns will put total weather and we get start [Applause] start and the game is underway with a kickoff out of bounds not the way you drew it up but a great break for this offense line gets set first down here's the hand off sweet cut there and he was able to get away from one tackle but plenty of help was on the way decent pick up on that play after the nyd pickup on first down here's second and one wants to throw it's Arnold trying to get to it and they got him for the sack this defense they are tenacious and they've got guys up front that are athletic and that are so strong and then could collapse the pocket you saw it right there in that play action attempt here they come basing third and long from the 40 the playaction fake nowhere to go and the ball is loose picks up the ball and tries to make something of it pass the 45 the ball security doesn't just apply to running backs and receivers QB's got to keep two hands on the ball as well they're very lucky after that fumble that the offense jumped on quarterback checking the play he's looking to throw it and he just overshot his man and blew it out of bounds incomplete and for a full year the long warns have had to think about how they just got blown back down I 35 in that game last year David and heard it from their coaches all week long about the beat down they they talk about how much they got beat by how they didn't play well what they're going to do to them again Jess they've heard it well they've been waiting all year to try and resurrect those demons guys but that's the great thing about rivalry games you're always going to get another opportunity the next year so I can't wait to see how Texas responds to miss one shotgun snap on third down working that left side now he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down the Sooners look to keep this drive humming running the Red Zone it's Achu got some room headed to the goal line and he rolls into the house touchdown and they just keep feeding it to their Workhorse back to open this game great job in the open field he's got tremendous Vision he can make people miss you saw all of that on display here in the opening [Applause] drive on the move from inside is five didn't find any creep in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 first down for this offense used the play fake now to throw just a short pass to the tight end and they pick up just a few on that completion winner of this game Don's the golden hat but you know Jesse only David could wear the Golden Hat among the three of us because there's no way either of us should put a hat on the kind of heads of hair we have well I've also understood that the Hat's like a triple X St and we know David's got a big dome and that's probably the only reason why he would wear it I'll tell you what these players they think about trying that old sucker on after this game all year long David yeah and trophies matter I mean this is something at the end of the games people run you see they go grab them they put them on their heads it means something to these kids to the air on first down he LS it high and deep down on the left side and that one Falls incomplete they tried to go over the top on first down second down coming up these guys have really performed at a high level in SEC play and the task is to try to keep this groove going yeah when you start the season like this man this is exactly what you drew up win your conference be great in your conference get to the conference Championship I'm not putting the cart before the horse fer but nothing but grief and it's a fumble after that huge gain and the defense on it they get that turnover you know often times when you're playing in conditions like this and it's raining you'll see a lot of the skill players offensively take off the gloves because they want to be able to feel the football they think it gives them better control of it and I don't know if that played into the football going on the ground there but you know that ball security is going to be one of the biggest factors in this game moving forward great job by the defense everybody firing off the ball hitting their guys holding their gaps running to the football nowhere to go to the air it's Manny he'll take a shot and they wanted it all on that incomplete pass instead they're looking at third down you know it's a good decision by the QB because his intended target wasn't open so throw it out of bounds and you can live the play another day here on this drive wide receiver now comes in motion trying to move the sticks on third down through the air and it's caught touchdown Texas now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic splits the uprights quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and the score comes on a 35 yd pass for Six here he comes from inside his own five he's got great speed he's got an alley there he goes open it up he will score touchdown sooner that dude ought to have a lethal sticker on his helmet anytime he touches it it can be a score he touched it and it was no doubt unbelievable speed and if you're back deep for a kickoff obviously you got those Wheels but to be able to get through guess what no Flags you know it's going to count great job by the special teams being special and he takes this from inside the five and the returner could find no daylight he goes down and here comes the Texas offense back on the field Jesse a very productive Drive last time wound up with a touchdown yeah mixing and matching play calling really well nice balance on that last one Dave we'll see what they can do here in this next Drive yeah and I don't expect anything different when you put together a drive like that I would do more of the same keep the PA go not what they had in mind to start this drive here comes second and 13 looking downfield it's Manning throws to the tight end into double coverage and they made him pay it's intercepted not much of a chance on the return but they'll have the ball at the 33 nice nice play by the DB most people say offenses have the advantage right they know where they're going they have the footing underneath them defensive guys you still got to guess you might be a little bit more cautious no sir this defensive back does a great job breaking on the football going up and making the in oh man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack now improvising what a snag by the defense and he will step out of bounds but what a play to get the ball back for his offense it's really hard when that quarterback gets outside the pocket because it cuts off half of the field once he starts to roll out everybody starts to Sprint to the other side of the field you know you're not going to throw it across your body going to the r hit the afterburners kid he's at the 40 the 20 and he's loose and he'll take it to the house touchdown Lorn well this offense is top 10 in the country in points per game because they've got a lot of speed and they've got home run hitters they score fast they don't need 10 plays to go down the field you saw it right there they've recruited well they've got Playmakers they're going to be a problem for defenses all year long the 18 unit on the field hit that one with some aggression for the point after that's the end of the first quarter with the score 144 all tied up and just about set to kick it [Applause] away and he's going to bring it out didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 here come the Sooners ready to go on offense after that last pick David they really need to take care of the ball this time no doubt and I want to know what Spurrier said to you on the sideline after a kick do that again and you'll be right here beside me for the rest of the game you got to go out you got to call your plays and I hope this coaching staff isn't going to be afraid to throw at this drive now on first down from the 30 might as well give it to him again and he could not get loose on the run it's an offense that takes pride in being physical they try to get it going on the ground but no gain on that one does Nowhere to Run not a lot of wiggle room for the ball carry this defense came in knowing that they had to match their physicality let's see if they can keep it up got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 dropping back it's Arnold fires to the tight end and they finally haul him down but not before the good catch and Lun just the ability to move the chains keep the drive going sort of quintessential efficiency from a sooner quarterback yeah and from a sooner offense because ree they keep the drive going but what does that do most Oklahoma teams over the year and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes and that's now their third sack of the game this is one of the best units in the entire country getting after the quarterback they have done such a great job recruiting athletes up front and in their front seven they can Blitz they can rush you with four with three but they've got dudes that can beat you oneon-one and you're seeing that in this game I think when you go through these progressions as a quarterback you want to find the right guy to throw to obviously I just I didn't think he was the right guy I didn't think he was really that open and listen he sailed and he overthrew but I might have surveyed the middle of the field a little bit better there on Third and long doesn't need to take the check down and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down this defense is heating up they got an interception in the last possession you could tell breaking on the football B really really well seeing where the quarterback's throwing it going to try to get it got another hand on it almost had another interception tries to find a little more Running Room on that return but he'll be stopped at the 36 The Long Horn sending the offense back onto the field how big is this drive scored a touchdown the last last time they had it defense gets a stop and now it's up to them in a tie game all right so if you're the offensive coordinator here let's dial it in who are your best matchups and best Playmakers to take advantage of this golden opportunity yeah and I'm interested to see this defense too like the momentum is clearly not in your favor how do you get it back how do you make a big play do you be more aggressive here to try to get the football back to your offense it's first and 10 they've moved it to the 41 out of the shotgun they go to the ground crosses the 30 Got Away touchdown Texas and once he found some daylight it was time to make a house call you know often times in college football the best offenses are the ones that can create explosive plays just like you saw right there they're top 10 in the nation in points per game because they don't have to drive the field they've got dudes scattered all over this offense that can take it the distance on any given play here he comes out of the end zone he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 here comes the Oklahoma offense that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive brittle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them that's what's so scary about this offense they've got guys in the perimeter that can change the game in one single play and you saw it right there too much speed on the perimeter to create that explosive play and sticking to the R I tell you what a lot of teams that are really good are really stubborn and they continue to run the football even with little success so this offense is going to continue to focus on running the football you can tell and that pass will be Jarred loose on second down that brings up third down they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here looking to throw it's Arnold coming after him it as he throws that pass not close as he got drilled trying to deliver it and it'll bring up fourth down and this is why this team is losing this game right they cannot protect their quarterback he's already been sacked a bunch of times almost got sacked right there this guy doesn't have a chance with the way this offensive line is playing and The Return Man is stopped and that'll leave it up to the offense on the next drive all right guys so here's the offense back on the field again using his legs it's more that's a nice pickup to give them some breathing room and they've got it out to the 27 Vio is a groundbased animal and he has to like what he's seeing right now from this running game yeah the the the beef up front doing their job creating some holes you know making some alleys get those running backs I think Texas when you can Pound The Rock and you can use your big guys up front you can win a lot of football games motion from the offense they'll throw it on first down setting up the screen keeps the legs moving they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some range for their running back the offense lines up at the 41 with a first and 10 he wants to throw trying to get behind the defense and was worth the gamble but the long pass is incomplete and on that incompletion I think the quarterback was being just a bit too careful trying to throw that ball too far outside obviously aware that the Defenders are coming from the inside you don't want to put it behind the intended target and risk the pick six he hurls one deep down the left side he got it and he's into the end zone touchdown Lorn this offense is so good man they can hurt you in so many different ways and they do it so quick so explosive they can put small Drives together big Drives together they've really had a great year and that's why they're a top 10 offense and he's going to try to return this one didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the sooner offense returns to the field not a lot of time left here in the half let's see if they can cut into this lead and this drive isn't a must score but man you look at the scoreboard you're down two scores Jesse you got a good opportunity create some momentum cut it to a onore game this is an important possession yeah it's important to create that momentum now did to not wait to get it going here at the start of the third quarter you got one drive here to get a couple of and the pass is intercepted bringing it back he's at the 10 and it's going to be a pick six touchdown no mid-season dos for these guys as they push out the lead in week six and they split the upright on the extra point they're up 3514 let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connors Kevin what do you got all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football head has to be spinning he steps out of bounds but not only does he get the ball back what a return to set up his offense looking for a productive play on first down leaves it with the running back plows through the defense boy there wasn't much room to wiggle for that running back there none at all great job by the defense getting the Back Field quickly closing up all the holes nowhere to R they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 got enough space and he'll finish the ride in the end zone touchdown long hard and he did get that extra point through the slippery surface no problem so they got the touchdown now going to put it in the hands of their defense to finish off this [Applause] half out of the end zone pulled down at the 18 and the decision to bring it out of the end zone was not a good one here comes the sooner offense back onto the field this late in the half you're behind you'd love to create something before the break to build momentum Jesse but you've also had some miscues on offense a big part of why you're losing the game right now I take it into halftime make my adjustments and come out ready in the second half yeah I'm going to take it in halftime too Paul but I'm trying to put some points up right here be aggressive set the tone looking for a deep and he'll pull it it inside the 20 and they'll do more more than move the chains they'll move that thing more than 30 yd down the field before he's finally stopped the entire complexion of this possession changed on that one play now they've got it first touchdown Oklahoma and they made it to the house where they found that six points waiting on him and he added the extra point quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and the score comes on a 17y yard throw for the touchdown he'll start to return inside his SP he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 here comes the Texas offense now you find out just how much of a gunslinger you are will you roll the dice here late in the half David and you know the defense is going to be really really conservative so I think it's an opportunity to be able to take a shot see how much of a chunk you can get before then you decide really Jesse how you want to finish the half just can't turn it over and throw a pick or three the quarterback here you and the pressure gets there and down he goes at the 18 here's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 [Applause] to the air it's Manning fires to the middle he's got it he's going to have enough to pick up the first down as they stop him at the 33 yd line the offense calls timeout it's the second one they've used this half running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break going up top on first down throwing right he makes a catch he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense man this offense is so dangerous free they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels trying to find his man on first down got his man quickly and that defense is there to guide him out of Bounds at for a short gain nice completion here to this wide receiver and you're going to see this receiver line up in different spots all over the field all game one defense has got to keep their eye on where this guy is because they know he's a big part of this offensive success we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update [Music] kickoff and kickoff return teams on the field and we are just about ready to go in the second half he'll bring it back from inside his SP couldn't find a way to create that broken field as he stopped at the 25 here come the horns they've got it again on offense he'll start the third quarter with the run defense in the right spot they stop him after a gain of two to the 28 and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first to the air it's Manning and it's intercepted a turnover for the defense touchdown sooner what a great play by the defense and paying it off with the interception return and he made the extra point without problem they're about to kick it away and the defense probably can't wait to get back out there after the pick six on the run from inside his own five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they get him on the ground at the 20 so Texas has it again and here comes the offense well the good news is they threw a touchdown pass last time it was just to the wrong team Jesse well that's an unfortunate part of the game for qu he tosses one high and deep down the left side and that will be incomplete man that would have been a big hitter if they could have done it but second down coming there's an example of what happens when the quarterback doesn't have a chance to set his feet the pressure just forced him to have to work off schedule a little bit and I think because of that wasn't able to be as accurate as he wanted to be on second down he's looking down field a little screen to the running back they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some range for their running back ball is at the 35 it's first and 10 leaves it with the back hard running there he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down this is the kind of performance guys that sort of etches your name in the lore of a rivalry and playing big in this big moment on this big stage it is so nice to have a playmaker like that that you can highlight that you can focus on that you can trust he was so excited coming into this game too because he knows that often times po Legacy as a player is defined by how you play in rivalry games like this set up for second and short after that completion they'll run it on the counter and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land it's hard to run on a defense that comes off the ball like that and runs to the football like that good block no holes anywhere that's caught it's Moss good tackle there to stop him short of the first down and now they have to make a call and that's a nice sigh of relief for the defense too right there was a broken tackle and the guy made it look like he was going to pick up the first but because of great effort defensively they were able to get the Stop and now they're setting up fourth on fourth down he'll try to toss it got it past the marker and they finally make the tackle but this will be a pretty easy conversion for this offense and that is the advantage of having versatility at the running back position right it's Fourth Down everyone in the stadium thinks he's going to get the hand off but because of his ability to catch the football he's a weapon in the passing game and on a critical down distance like that comes up with a huge first down maybe that stop shows this def is tightening up especially in the Run game the offense frankly they've been able to do whatever they want to do they just handed the ball off this guy's having success left and right no serve no Moss get it together they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and sometimes for the defense it just takes one play right to create some momentum obviously this guy's been eating him up he's got over 100 yards rushing on the day but finally David to get something positive here in the Run game defensively but you kind of know that coming in he's going to get his such a great back and he's had a great day need to put more plays together like that right there really nice third down sub defense there that time it's third and long they're expecting pass and they're mixing up their looks they're trying to change the picture pre- snap to post Snap to confuse the quarterback now forcing the incompletion setting up fourth knocked it right through showing that big range from 48 yds out they're really starting to extend that lead as they get ready to kick it away again on the move from inside is five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 now the Oklahoma offense will go back to work trailing Now by 17 David this is an opportunity that they need to answer and down by 17 it's not panic mode yet like I know we just gave up some points and our defense hasn't played great I think this offense can still be who they are stay consistent no doubt lots of football to go but you do get the feeling this is the time of game where you know it could get B if you don't score and all of a sudden they get the ball back they take it down the field and put some points up this thing might be over so absolutely this quarterback he wants to drive this offense down the field and at least put something and they'll line up from the 31 on first down a little pre- snap eye candy for the defense he makes the connection quarterback droing back understanding I'm getting Zone coverage all I got to do is be a little bit patient manipulate that defense a little bit my wide receiver runs that drag and I get the first down and they'll pick up the first down and Mark it at the 47 it's hard to stop great Runners it really is that's why you run the football consistently you got a big offensive line a big physical unit you run the football like this man it will take a toll later but you got to tackle this guy over and over again who has he can't escape and down he goes that's his second sack of the ball game that dude is getting after the quarterback offensiv that's my adjustment first of all I'm going to roll out away from him I'm going to double team him let somebody else beat me not that guy cuz his speed off the edge just killing CS open down the middle he's there to make the stop but the damage has been done as they pick out the first down on the throwing catch 28 and the Sooners come to the line with a new set of [Applause] downs looking for a man it's Arnold quickly to the tight end really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down the suers are in the hurry up is another first the from the Red Zone looking for a receiver and it is another interception just a terrible struggle for this quarterback God room on the return he's inside the 40 he is finally out of bounds but he was spelling that End Zone on that return and as a defensive lineman late in the game man when you know it's p you're pinning your ears back trying to get to the quarterback and DBS are trying to do this pad them stats get the in nice job by this D headed to the end zone touchdown Texas and the Ping has started they give themselves just a little more cushion as they close in on extending this winning run and bio's really starting to snar right now and he'd love to rub the sooner Schooner's face right in it David yeah they got it cooking the Longhorns are looking good in this Rival game you got half the crowd in this burnt orange that is going bananas right now Boomer soon's got the weapons though guys on offense you've got the horses on the outside to turn this thing into a trackmate I know you're down here but you can change this game it just takes one play send it down field makes the grab on the right they'll Mark him down right there but it is a big play and they'll move the chains [Applause] that is a highly efficient way to move the chains and now they are threatening inside the 40 he's going to pass oh he drops the football he had him right down the gut of the field instead it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again dropping back it's Arnold looking downfield makes a connection and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up from the 14 yd line it's first and 10 looking to pass inside the Red Zone the short hands it's a they'll get it down to the 8 yd line on that throw and catch and the defense is backed up against the wall going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone power football with the Run they'll get him stopped just short of the end zone but they're in business here with the first down so so close to cashing it in for this offense he snares it in the end zone touchdown Oklahoma anal witics here and you go for two running back goes in motion he's looking to throw and the ball is intercepted the 50 the 40 he's at the [Applause] 30 almost ready to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown here he comes from inside his own five makes a move he found some really good Running Room on that one it just about got loose as it is good return to set up the drive so now the long horns take over and they'll send out the offense The longone Backs got it they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one it's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did interesting to see what the offense does on this next one they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one the defense finally able to make a play getting a tackle for loss they haven't had many of those today because this running back really has answered the Bell they knew coming in they were going to have to give him the football for Speed it to him and let him go to work he's done that well over 100 yards rushing in game the defense just has not had the answers consistently for him the Longhorns will putt this one away getting our first look of the afternoon at the punter gets his first one of the day away and that matches his total from that Victory last week he gets a block he did a great job finding some Running Room on that return and was able to set up the offense with good field position time for this sooner offense to go back to work that last drive an absolute aerial assault for the touchdown Jesse it was a nice job in play calling too David just giving the quarter and he's got it inside the 15 yd line the Sooners in the hurry up quarterback will audible they'll throw it from the Red Zone it falls incomplete he was trying to find his man for six it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one leaves it with the back P down after a gain of five it's at the 9 yd line I like this guy's a running back because he can run between the tackles and he can also go outside he can really do it all they'll go right back to the Run touchdown sooner and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house wow this offense they have a lot of faith in this running back knowing if they get down in this area of the field he can get it done and he can answer the Bell two rushing touchdowns already for this offense about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and he takes this from inside the five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 and here comes the Texas offense back on the field after giving up that last touchdown they still got the lead but now feeling a little bit of pressure to answer with one of their own David and it gets a little bit tight listen we're getting later in the ball game this offense pled last time they got to find a few plays Palmer that they really love here steal some momentum back in this ball game they do David and after watching their defense just get gashed down the field that last Drive the dream drive for this offense would be to matriculate the ball down the field eat up some clock and finish it off with a touchdown defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense you got to believe they just want to run it take care of the football and keep that clock moving on second and nine with the catch it's [Applause] more the L horns have it with a first and 10 they'll keep it on the ground trying to milk the clock quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense lost one on that last one it's second and 11 from the gun the ground game and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum using the back as a receiver on the screen and that did not work defense spelled that one out from the beginning and the longhorn send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away [Music] [Music] we've got a timeout from the kicking team the lorts will try to pin them back with the punt this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he only needs a sliver of daylight he'll be guided out of bounds but not before a Nifty return on that one guys we'll get another look at this Oklahoma offense it's a long shot I know but you have to keep fighting Till The Bitter End Jesse but they call it a long shot for a reason because they've still technically got a shot I know it's not great David but let's see these guys fight to the end it's not great but keep fighting keep spinning that pill around use every second on this clock to try to get this game as close as you can back to pass it's Arnold he rifles one deep to the left he can't find his man and the clock stopped with six seconds left and I understand the logic by the offense here obviously you're down in this game you're trying to claw back into it why not take a shot why not be aggressive in that time they just can't come up with the completion across the 25 room finally run out of bounds but
