on the banks of the Mississippi River home to the king of rock and roll and also the Memphis Tigers where the fans have moved the party from beel Street and are ready for kickoff this match up today part of the life one of the sport a rivalry game where the results will be remembered for a lifetime as we'll see the number 23 team in the country the Louisville Cardinals taking on the eighth rank team in the land the Memphis Tigers for EA Sports college football I'm Reese Davis David Po and Jesse Palmer with me guys it's time to get it [Applause] going and the Cardinals will put total Lea to crank us up no return coming he'll call for the fair Catch the offense lining up for a first down play they're going to throw it to start the drive grab behind the line it's Smith and the defense stops him just short of the first down maybe needed a few more chain links to move the steps yeah and you see running backs in today's football they play a wide receiver basically for you but you got to find a guy that you can throw it to and you know he's going to catch the ball consistently they'll line up for a second down play Smith takes the hand off and you can forget running in the middle against this defense Memphis wants to move quickly they'll try to drive ahead on Third and short he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well we knew this offense came into this one wanting to establish the Run r on their first three plays of the game in their own end run run run but they don't pick up the first down now it'll be interesting to see if they continue running the football there next time [Applause] out not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair Catch [Applause] line gets set first down back to throw it's turner oh he's going to go up top and that'll be incomplete they tried to hit him with a big one on first down love seeing these early season top 25 matchups you can get a really good feel of how good these teams are guys and the intensity is going to be big too David because the players you know on these teams they've been thinking about this game for a long time they knew they'd have a national stage and they got a chance to prove just how good they are oh man make that state make that early State we always look at the end of the season and and what does the committee say oh they beat top 25 so and so here's your chance to put that on your resume that'll pay off big time in late in season lining up to convert third [Applause] down from the gun wants to pass now adjusting he's going to run it at the 45 on his way and he scoots his way to the first down and then slides to avoid the hit nice job nice way to end that play for the QB he does a really good job scrambling getting the first down and getting down because defensively I'm trying to get a lick anytime I can hit the quarterback that is a win to the air on first down unloads it downfield catch and stride inside the 15 and he'll will take it all the way they couldn't bring him down touchdown Cardinal well I know it's early this season but it's obvious already this guy is a major weapon in this offense had two touchdowns in his first game he's now on the board right now What A Difference Maker and a playmaker he's going to be this season for this offense and he did make that extra point no issue with the treacherous footing zero you'll call for the fair catch here [Music] Memphis has the ball back and the offense ready to go to work that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them off the play fake throws for the tight end and they won't make the connection looking to make a big play there the biggest lie college football coaches tell is nameless faceless opponents David game like this you know their name and you know their face you know them well and it does mean just a little bit more because it's bragging rights like the rivalries matter so much all throughout the year all the fans talking about this game in particular that's why it means more and that's why these players will be jacked out of their minds Memphis will send the punt team onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it away fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way he'll settle for some pretty good field position and make the fair catch at around the 35 [Applause] [Music] Louisville has it back in the offense coming out ready to attack DAV they' love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well Palmer they executed and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well and I'd love to see that here on the next drive to just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their heels looking for a man it's Turner it's caught downfield at the 35 he's loose a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first down I know it's early in the game but defensively after that play you know you have to tackle the catch when this guy gets the ball in his hands he is so dangerous after the the fact so it's okay for him to make catches just got to get him to the ground quickly that big play put them in business now they're right on the edge of the red zone as they go to work first and 10 got his man downfield they get him stopped at the 5 yd line but it will be first and goal from there just like that a hat trick of completions and they're on the doorstep three plays three beautifully executed plays this offense is in a really good Rhythm this defense better change something quickly cuz this has been way too easy quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep touch down Lille and they made it to the house where they found that six points waiting on them and after starting the season 0 and one this offense felt like they just left plays on the field in that first game but so far today they're taking advantage QB is making good decisions guys are stepping up they've limited the mental mistakes they haven't turned the football over it's a different looking offense here in game two and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and the score comes on a 5yd touchdown [Music] pass on the run from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 first [Music] here comes that Memphis offense back onto the field to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing on all cylinders right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up yeah and it's just the first quarter so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or or that scheme that you can use against this defense going to let it fly fires the pass intercepted looking for more room he's at the 40 the 30 great job by the Freshman kept his eyes in the right place and made the play that is such a tremendous job by the defense a Flea Flicker is designed catch them off guard thinking it's going to be run and throw it over their head but how about the athleticism to get back into coverage and not just knock it away David pick it off yeah and it's just like baseball man it's and that ball is picked off and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception I tell you got to give the defense credit though cuz with these conditions it's not easy to catch for the offensive players certainly not for the defense but great ey hand coordin securing that interception wants to throw on first down makes the catch it's Smith and Midfield he's got R big big gain on that one as he stepped out of bounds with a first down L ree you and I were talking about this before the game how is this defense going to be able to deal with all the speed they have offensively you saw them just rip off a big play and Jesse now their head's spinning just a little bit give up a big chunk play and it's right right back at him a seven yd pickup it'll be second and three you see a lot of quarterbacks get in trouble when they start forcing things he did a really good job he wanted to throw the football you could tell drops back nothing open it's okay I'm just going to take off and get what I can get on second down he'll let it fly buying some time nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down I like the offensive idea here to try to change the launch point of the QB but you got to do a better job protecting him because guys can't complete passes when they're getting hit that last incomplete pass has him staring at a third and three wants to throw on third down oh he's going to try to get it all here he's got it defense makes a stop but the chains move and it's first and goal from the eight and I like it third down and short and this offense stays aggressive and now they're set up forget the field goal we're not looking for three now now set up in a first and goal trying to get a touchdown he CAU it they've got it down to the three yd line really well done on that throwing and catch Memphis picking up the tempo wide out in motion looking for a path to the end zone to the right he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of perer they've moved it right to the precipice of a score and they need one more yard third and goal and they'll try to pass it in into to the end zone touchdown Memphis after the score we'll see if that breathes a little fire into it and you see it all the time right you get that score you get that energy the crowd gets involved and the defense got to get out and get you a stoper this was step one to getting them back in the ball fi almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown on the move from inside his own point maybe if he could have eluded just one or two more guys it would have been a big return but Market at the third the Louisville offense is headed back out on the field that last Drive was a punch in the gut throwing the pick in the Red Zone Jesse yeah it just seemed like there was some miscommunication down there in the Red Zone David this drive the QB and receivers just have to do a better job being on the same page yeah and I think you pulled the positives right we moved the football down the field we had a chance to score but we can't let those opportunities slip between our hands let's go get some points and they'll come to the line with less than a yard to go easy looking for a physical attack from the gun a run up the middle is stuck for No Gain last time these two got together it was a tight one Jesse seems like every time these two teams play the game just feels faster right because it is a rivalry game there's just a greater sense of urgency when we see these teams match up yeah the fans feel it they know it there's so much to they think about it all year long when you talk about the next game on the schedule they're always looking forward to this one well offensive coordinators put in countless hours every week trying to formate and use different Personnel groupings and shifts and motions to give their offenseive success on third down you can tell in this game this offensive coordinator he has put in the work this week stopped at the 47 yd line a 10yd gain and they'll move the markers and here we go if you're an offense You' got to get that ground game going so you can have some balance and then you give it to your quarterback Palmer and let him make some plays down the field later on yeah exactly and know coming into this game this offense knew oh look out there he goes and he just kept running and he ran away from the crowd and he'll take it in touchdown Cardinal huge play it's so nice to have guys that can create these explosive plays like this you hand it to him he can do the look at the speed look at the elusiveness get into the end zone nice run we check in with Kevin Conor what's going on Kevin Dynamite matchup this week fellas let's show you what's going down Texas is trailing but they are within Striking Distance kind of like when major Apple White turned a huge deficit in the 2001 Holiday Bowl into a win maybe today is deja vu it's a touchdown game they're trailing by seven to Clemson for now it's back to you fellas but of course if anything changes you'll see it right here oh and how about that I know Kevin and those guys will be keeping an eye on it for us picks up a useful 5yd chunk out to the 30 yd line I I like it just frustrate the defense get that five to six yards make him honor the Run make him know that you're willing to run the football and run it effectively couldn't find the lane a pick up of one to the 31 Memphis wants to move quickly [Music] quarterback making adjustments with his receivers snap from the gun on third down he's got his man they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down he might have expected to see this DB up in his receiver's kitchen instead nice little Zone and they pick up the first man offenses are getting so good reys at seeing the holes in the zone knowing you're in zone knowing where to sit down how to make it an easy pitch and catch for the quarterback and that's what it was on third short comes out throwing on first down and they're on him immediately down goes the quarterback time winding down in the quarter as they come the [Applause] line that's the end of the first quarter with the score Louisville 21 Memphis 7 will start the quarter offense about to snap it on second down defense showing plenty of pre- snap movement of their own on second down they'll take to the air makes a connection you know it's hard enough just to catch passes in college football but to do it while also being and it looks as if they buzzed down replay wants to have another Peak at that last play and they take another look at the play with the officials on the field were right and the play will stand here they come on third down and the defense has had no answer so far they'll try to pick up the first through the air fires to the big fella at the 20 he's got space run out of bounds after the long game but they've got it now first and goal man if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or disrup their timing and their rhythm I can't give him these big chunk plays through the air I got to be maybe a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different he get him down after a four yd gain to the six after the productive first down play it's second and six he's looking to throw fires into traffic it's picked off and after the interception and the turnover this defense has set it offense up for business looking for a productive play on first down the give on the inside that'll be a beneficial run as he creates some breathing room and gets it up to the 13 yd line and a nice job by the running back finding space getting down hill making the good run great job finishing with his PS they can really be aggressive after after that last play it's second and three to throw it's Turner flushed out of the pocket makes it catch down the right side and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end that's what's so scary about this offense they've got guys in the perimeter that can change the game in one single play and you saw it right there too much speed on the perimeter to create that explosive play unloads to the wide out working that left side and he earns a first down and boy did he earn it after taking that lick and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down pulls it in it's Johnson and he picked up the first down but he will remember the price he paid after that hit and this defense is going to have their hands full because they're going to need to be comfortable with guys one-on-one on islands in the perimeter of the field and they're just going to have to make better plays than what we saw right there they knew this offense was going to try to be aggressive got and he's loose and he'll take it to the house touchdown Cardinal Precision blocking up front created the open Lane and the running back followed it beautifully yeah I it's pretty easy to follow an offensive line that makes those holes and just gives you a caravan all the way to the end zone what an unbelievable job blocking up front and they knock through the extra point and they're up 28 to7 a very efficient five play scoring drive and he got into the house from the sixth to finish it he'll start the return inside his five nice job executing all of the assignments they put a stop to that return at the [Music] [Applause] 22 got it Memphis has the ball back and the offense ready to go to work trailing by three touchdowns if you're going to get back in it David the time to start is right now got to start now defense giving up points on that last possession again the offense is going to have to score and Jesse probably score pretty quickly yeah you got to go Tempo you're going to have to try to fit in as many plays as you can throughout the rest of this game but I think more than that you got to eliminate the negative plays no more penalties and no more turnovers put it right on him sweet play good pick up and they'll move the chains with the first down I know it's something we take for granted guys but the did a great job there with the play action fake he really took his time and sold it and that's what froze the linebackers and he is finding wide openen Defenders all over the field his third interception of the day oh he would have loved to pick up a few more yards on that return but they've still got it at the 31 Louisville has it back in the offense coming out ready to attack they Unleashed an aerial assault last time that took him right to the end zone David So ree with that drive I think you've accomplished something you wanted to accomplish make this defense think you put them back on their heels now shoot Palmer you might be able to slip a few runs in on this drive to really Jack them up yeah I like that idea but I also like the fact that speed kills they've got it at the receiver position so if you got one-on-one matchups man take advantage listen you you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was is blocked getting a nice positive gain making your situation really good on the next down they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one but how fast did they get in there and make that tackle for a loss blink you missed it nice job by the defense getting penetration everybody up near the line of scrimmage shooting the gaps quick getting in the back field getting the guy bre you know when you're running counter those offensive linemen crashing down they've got to be able to pin those interior D line couldn't get it done there they gave up too much penetration and that led to the tackle for loss no no good missed the field goal but still up by three touchdowns at 21 points [Music] [Music] here comes that Memphis offense back onto the field mistakes are going to happen as they did on that last drive now how will they respond Jesse and this is the kind of guy who's going to take full accountability that was my bad that's on me off he goes they got him free for a big Gainer to the 43 it's just so hard to stop there is no rhyme there is no reason he just scrambles around makes people miss and the next thing you know you look up in these 20 30 yard down the field there's nothing you can do about movement from the linebackers trying to mess with the offensive Line's assignments caught over the middle it's Doyle and he'll take it to the house he got loose touch down tiger ling up to add another you got to love the creativity with the tit end nowadays they can do so many different things does a good job he slips behind the defense defense doesn't know where he went what does he do he gets in for six he'll bring it out it's Conway they drag him down at the 22 he gambled for the big return out of the end zone and came up a little short the Louisville offense is headed back out on the field we talk about settling for points but sometimes when you have to settle for nothing David it can be demoralizing yeah it can defin definitely be frustrating and I think it leads you to say maybe I go for it more but Jesse I think this offense just needs to put another drive together and just finish Stronger Yeah and and be a little bit less predictable too especially as they get closer and closer down to the end zone that last completion sets him up on second down the G pretty good job of running to get two there to the 32 I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling cuz this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs as we reach the two-minute warning they'll need to try to get a stop to keep this thing from getting out of hand offense breaks the Huddle on third [Applause] down they'll try to power their way ahead and he'll have to check his fings after that lick but he did get the first down I don't know need it to be pretty I just need my inches third down in inches nice job by getting the first down always fall forward play physical don't get East and West stay north and south nice job by the running back he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down you know of the times these slot receivers they're not the biggest guys in the world but they're really good at finding the Open Spaces in the middle of the field and you saw that guy attack the defense in the perfect spot making life easy for his QB from the gun he leaves it with the back and he's able to shed one tackle but still does a very short game the offense uses a timeout to stop the clock and they'll get a quick [Applause] freether come to the line at the 42 facing a third and short short to the air it's Turner he hurls one deep down the left side he's got it at the 30 finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down the magic bean is spinning out of control already over 200 yds in the first half yeah they're being aggressive offensively throwing the football trying to take advantage of this defense on the back end they've got their quarterback right now in a Groove looking to go up top on first down lets it fly deep downfield and he's got it dodg down Louisville the great thing about spreading a defense out I can see where the blitz is coming from I can see where they're weak I can see my matchups nice job by the offense spreading them out taking advantage of their matchup and getting in for the score let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connors Kevin what do you got guys let's get you up to speed on what's going down in this fun college football game today Texas is on the ropes and it's like they're looking at their corner and saying no Moss a real blood bath today at DKR they're trailing by 14 to Clemson just another week of college football where we've come to expect the unexpected fellas thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final Memphis has the ball ball back and the offense ready to go to work now you find out just how much of a gunslinger you are will you roll and the defense makes a play sacking him back at the 10 Memphis picking up the [Applause] tempo quarterback changing the plays at the line wants to fire on second down quickly out to the tight end they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more plays one more play before the teams headed the locker rooms on Third and long he'll need to loosen up that arm the pass is incomplete and one second is left oh you know what time it is when the defense gets that stop on third down fist up in the the air nice job getting to the quarterback putting some pressure on him hitting him forcing the incompletion fourth down baby we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update Memphis ready to kick it deep and get the second half going number 43 set to kick off it'll take the return try to get better field position and they'll fall down the returner to start us on the next Drive Louisville will take over first and 10 Louisville has it back and the offense coming out ready to attack they'll open this third quarter with a run the express way is wide open the 40 he's at the 30 pass the 10 touchdown Cardinals and the pbbl has started now they've got a little breathing room they are in firm control of this game guys but you never want to let up in a rivalry game because it only takes one play we know how much of a factor momentum can be in these types of rivalry games David So this game still far from over and this is where my leadership and my experience comes into play when you got guys that have been through these fires been through these rivalry gam you know the swings happen quick now you got to swing it back your way and he knocks the extra point 3 right about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll bring it back from inside his [Applause] five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 first and 10 here comes that Memphis offense back onto the field they hope to be able to cash in on this drive David after having to punt it last time yeah and I think this offense needs to start it with the first play you need to be successful and productive on that first play and it gets you in less predictable situations no doubt too don't you just feel like there's a little bit more sense of urgency on this drive it just feels like they've got to be able to put some points up on the board here back wants to throw on second down that pass is incomplete and they might be fortunate it wasn't knock free for a fumble it'll be third down if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum they'll go with a direct snap gets it past the marker he'll make a play on third down he's got enough for the first and they mark it at the 32 and they may have caught the defense snapping there a little bit David maybe expecting pass on that third down but because of the back's effort now fresh set it down and it's so nice to have a guy that you can give the football on these third down situations and feel confident you're going to continue to move the sticks they stop him almost immediately short game there still a little ground cover to pick up the first linebackers moving trying to confuse the quarterback the give is to Smith and he's swallowed up at the line of scrimmage by the big defensive tackle well this is a defense that we know takes tons of Pride stopping the Run that's where it all starts and ends with them and you saw a great effort on that last play offense breaks the Huddle it's third down from the gun wants to pass he fires a bullet to the right another interception this guy just can't find his own players just a small return but a big play as they have it now at the 45 well we know these are slick conditions today in this game wide receiver just didn't seem to really get a good grasp on the ball when it hit his hands didn't stick right away there's a a bit of a bobble and because of oh it's out a defense Scoops it up and they're bringing it back bubbles are great when you force them and you're always thinking about as a defensive player they when the weather conditions start to come down it starts to rain and you know that Ball's a little bit slick and you know more runs are coming you really try to get to that football nice job getting the football out falling on top of it forcing the [Applause] turnover gets it out quickly B enough room to get it into enemy territory they're down at the 43 yd line got like that big reliable security blanket and that's what tight ends are a lot of the times they're just usually big huge guys that if I throw it anywhere near him he's going to pluck it catch it and give me some positive yards on the move at the 30 and he all almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play you see so many offenses these days just throw swing rounds to the running back that's the extension of the Run game well that's the play that's the extension of it's the toss and when he gets outside watch out he can dial up home [Applause] runs and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up Memphis wants to move quickly he's back to throw on second down going for six and he was shooting for the End Zone there and they couldn't make the completion third they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one 42 spider third and long and he'll try to throw for it he's got it he gets it in touchdown Memphis this is like a baseball pitcher that can't miss he is just pounding pounding pounding right it just gets in the zone right you can't miss you you've seen quarterbacks get like that no matter what they do they're on fire they're hitting receivers and listen that's also on the defense the defense has to do a better job making him feel uncomfortable changing what they're doing in coverage so he's a little bit confused can't just let him pick you and he puts through the extra point lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive [Applause] fielded In The End Zone it's Conway didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 and the Louisville offense is headed back out on the field that last fumble proved to be costly as they cashed it in for a touchdown yeah and so this defense now is Juiced they're excited and ready to go so this offense David they've got to get something going yeah those turnovers can be contagious man it gets you excited and then when your offense takes it down the field and does something with it this offense better be ready to play against a motivated defense coming out on first down with the play fake The Shore Hands it's Johnson turns it on in Midfield oh he gave him the dead leg and another big game for this offense they are putting explosive pass after explosive pass up in this one the feel of this whole Drive changed on that last big play they've got it first and 10 and outside the 30 and they'll finally shove him out of bounds after a strong run well this is one of the fastest quarterbacks in college football and that's why the option's a good idea because if he can get out in space and he has a chance to get down field he is really difficult to tackle and he's very difficult to catch as you saw in that throws toward the end zone and it's incomplete as he was trying to finish the drive with the score these DBS better stay ready because even though they're trailing by a lot in this game the opponent's not trying to run the ball and bleed the clock they are still taking shots so you're going to have to continue to try to make plays back there deep smashes through the tackle touchdown Cardinal and the punishment has been extended number 21 and how about this offense another scoring Drive great job they seem to be in a much better Rhythm than they were a week ago they're 0 and one lost week one they could have got down on themselves a like the way they bounced back now they're going to be one andone with this performance and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further a very efficient five playay scoring drive and they finished it off with an exclamation point running it in from the 19 and he takes this from inside the five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 [Music] Memphis has the ball back and the offense ready to go to work there's certainly still a hill decline but they've got to make sure these drives pay off got a touchdown last time can they back it up here well and it's amazing in a football game how sometimes they'll surprise you with what you do once you get settled and you realize what's going on now I'm comfortable with it Jesse this offense looked comfortable on its last Drive they sure did it looked like they started to find some momentum so now it's on this going to take a shot and it goes through his hands oh he had an explosive play right there for the taking but couldn't reel it in well it was a good throw it was a good route but it was the hit that forced that incompletion a third and long coming up here [Applause] and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop 26 now fourth down talk about aggressive this head coach is keeping the offense on the field inside his own 30 on fourth down they'll pass for it time to take a shot it's caught and what a job to get the foot down and make get a huge gain along the sideline the tigers with the first and 10 looking to move it through the air fires to the right tremendous awareness along the sideline and the ability to get the foot down for the big pickup it's now first and 10 from the 24 yd line he's going to pass how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion well that one gets tipped and Falls incomplete that's been the best news on the day for this QB man as a former quarterback that's done this before I can tell you when you throw four picks in a game like this guy has you never forget it he makes the connection this quarterback right now is in a Groove and he's doing a nice job in pre- snap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great rhythm and the offense got themselves in a tough situation third and long so hard to execute especially when the field starts to shrink but the good news is they got a field goal in their back pocket with a double digit deficit here in the second half they're going to go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down and his fifth interception of the game Miracle they haven't pulled him yet and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position well obviously it's raining here in this game and Ball's slippery I don't know if that slipped out of the QB's hands a little bit but it's certainly wasn't an accurate throw and as a result it ends up in an interception Louisville has it back in the offense coming out ready to attack give to the running back slips a tackle and he's got room shakes off the defender they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage defense's head is spinning he gets it down to the 27 yeah and obviously this offense has had their way getting the huge lead and now when you know it's a running situation later in the ball games you're still getting pounded this defense has to step up at some point and be a lot more physical D coordinators down the road that have to play this offense man they're going to have nightmares because this unit has so much speed so much skill that running back receiver tight end a quarterback making good decisions it is so tough trying to stop them and prevent explos deep shot for the End Zone had it in his hands for the score and let it B of the turf it'll be third down I'm not positive but that first down marker might be in the next County on Third and long a check down would be the last resort fires to the wide out got him downfield he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down this dude is just exceptional in every facet so fluid such a great route Runner and a big play there and money down third down find him tdch down Louisville and the route is on if these guys wanted to make a statement statement has been delivered it's your job to stop them oh don't run the score up well do something about it the defense has to step up and make plays obviously they're not willing to do that so just keep running plays and keep scoring and for a the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 [Applause] Memphis has the ball back and the offense ready to go to work this thing has sort of gotten away the last couple of possessions they've been a little too generous David yeah like a nonprofit man like a charity giving the football away too much got to take care of the football Jesse otherwise you got no shot to win this football game you're right man at this level of college football it doesn't matter how talented you are it doesn't matter who you're playing if you're sloppy and you put the football on the ground or you throw picks you're going to find yourself behind on the scoreboard throws to the tight end and that pass intercepted he'll try to take it back and the senior just snatched the ball out of the air and gave it back to his offense man this thing's starting to snowball now in a bad way for this offense second interception in as many drives this quarterback he's got to be able to turn the page and make better decisions so guys we'll get another look at this offense he'll keep it himself they pick up half of it it'll be second and five well this offense came into the game knowing they wanted to be physical they wanted to establish the line of scrimmage and they're running downhill right at this defense and they're turning out positive yardage early looking to throw it's Turner throws for the tight end holds it in a make the tackle but he's got a fresh set of downs and it's first and goal from the seven as they get set to snap at time winding down here in the quarter looking to throw and here's a fumble way behind the line and they lose the ball out of bounds big loss of yardage on that one but at least they've got another shot they'll be able to get off one more play before quarters end these DBS going to give a little cushion looking to throw on second down there to make the tackle and with that we'll head to the fourth quarter the end of the third with the score 63 Memphis 21 he'll try to open the quarter by cashing in on this big opportunity deep in the red zone trying to get it done with the run here on Third and goal jumped on top of the pile well with a huge lead interesting decision are you going to try to Pat it with a fuel goal or do you want to stay aggressive and what's nice is you got this big lead so it really doesn't matter which effort you choose but you can grab the points or you can go to try to put this nail in the cof it's good well that's just piling on not the penalty kind just the mean kind he keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff team's getting it's hard to pop runs it's hard to get three four five six yards a lot of times but when you got backs like this who can make huge plays with the speed getting out in the open field can take it the distance on every play defenses are scar of their mind well it's a good time to mix in the Run play you're down it's late in the fourth quarter right now and everyone's expecting you to throw so not a lot of defenders in the box that's a great situation to try to run the ball breaks the tackle and I like the quarterback making the decision quickly I'm going to give it I'm not going to throw the football off the RPO and just let my back get some positive yards you're getting five plus yards that is a great job by the offense continue to stick with that got eight on first down now looking at a second and [Applause] two Smith takes the hand off find AC crease at the 20 and he'll step into the end zone touchdown Memphis and this has been a rough day for this offense and finally some good things to happen build some momentum maybe for the future you know that's the way the coaches spin it when you're getting beat up and you're getting destroyed like listen let's find something for the future let's keep fighting let's keep working this team's done that put some points on the board so it's not all bad on the run from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stay stop him at the 16 the Louisville offense is headed back out on the field and to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they' love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down there focus on execution and getting six points couldn't find a lane a pick up of one to first down at the 43 well I love play colors that want to stay aggressive regardless of what the score is regardless of how much time is left on the clock and I promise you this there are a lot of fans there are a lot of teams all across college football that are paying attention to what is happening right now at the 45 on it way hit the gas kid wide open ahead and after gobbling up some serious yardage and showing off those Wheels he's finally out of bounds and the Cardinals getting set on First and 10 easy trying to cap this drive with a pass touchdown Cardinals and the beat down has ensued points points and more points this offense has had their way they just keep their foot on the gas keep putting up points keep putting up touchdowns and you know what this is one of those stats days you look back and you're like that guy had 12 touchdowns on the year Well four or five of them might have been in this game almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll start the return inside is five good job by the coverage unit to put a stop to that [Applause] [Music] return Memphis has the ball back back and the offense ready to go to work there wasn't much need to throw it around on that last drive for the touchdown Jesse they got it done running the ball and David I don't think you have to overthink this thing if they can't stop running it why would you stop handing it on just keep at it here on this drive well and if I'm the defense I'm making some changes I'm bringing in more big bodies I'm playing more aggressive towards the line of scrimmage I am not going to let them have that kind of drive again they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down down marker thir quarterback checking the play wants to throw on third looking to the big tight end makes the grab they'll get it to the 48 no need to measure it's a first down Memphis picking up the tempo well I'll give this offense some credit because they've got a lot of fight there is no quit in them and they're obviously trailing by a big amount in this game they haven't had a lot of success but they're still taking shots and their players are still out there competing pocket starts to collapse hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and it never had a chance and the quarterback gets hit again we already know this defense has gotten home to him multiple times in this game so here you are you're trailing in the game defense knows you're going to throw it they're pinning their ears back you can't feel very confident right now if you're the play caller and certainly if you're the quarterback that you're going to have time to throw he'll pull it down and run that would never had a chance incomplete it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one right down the middle fires into traffic intercepted not a lot on the return but they can live with that as they've got it at the 49 and as a defensive lineman late in the game man when you know it's passed you're pinning your ears back trying to get to the quarterback and DBS are trying to do this pad them stats get the int nice job by this D give as they work on that clock just what they were looking for and he's got him set up in business at the 35 with a first down this guy's been special today coming into this one they thought they had an opportunity really to get him going running the football and he has delivered you've seen the speed the vision his ability to break tackles well over 100 rushing yards in this game and that's why they have a nice lead here late five to six yards a pop I don't know if you guys are really good at math but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't forget about the Run game keep them honest pound that rock at the 20 he's got space and how much Running Room have they been able to find on the ground man are they piling up some gy rushing stats the Cardinals have pushed it inside the 20 Brown has it and he's stuffed by that big defensive tackle up front stopping the run is about physicality it's about I'm bigger than you I'm stronger than you up front really nice job by the defense showing their strength Bo up stuffing the Run they could have used a little bit more there pick up three it's third and seven really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the field goal unleashes to the end zone tdch down Louisville and the Ping has started 11 and this offense has had a good day and more importantly this team responded from last week 0 and one didn't look good to start the season bouncing back getting a convincing Victory nice job by this team handling adversity early in the season and let's check in with Kevin Conor's in the to be a pass they have to because the clock is their enemy great job playing pass forcing the interception almost putting the nail in the cin offense has a huge lead right now in the fourth quarter and they're just going to run this football to try to ice the game being more dominant being more physical at the point of attack they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the defense finally able to make a play getting a tackle for loss they haven't had many of those today because this running back really has answered the Bell they knew coming in they were going to have to give him the football four speeed at to him and let him go to work he's done that well over 100 yards rushing in this game the defense just has not had the answers consistently for him they'll go to the ground that will be in the final play as the clock strike zero here it's really easy to get caught up in the emotion of a rivalry game plan [Music]
