[Applause] [Music] here we go folks the kickoff team is out there to get this season underway well they thought about coming out but instead takes a and to bring the football out to the 25 yd line the Buckey offense comes on the field first today there's the star running back jogging out of the field he is trying to add to his huge highlight Rec Chris honestly I don't think we've seen too many running backs who can duplicate what this guy can do on the field he's got everything Vision speed power he can diagnose a defense in real time play picks up two so it's second and eight Christino the spread era over the years has always grown offensively but always impressed with the defenses that really build their defense to play in space still have an ability to be sound at the line of scrimmage and defend a he's going to be brought down by that ferocious this is exactly how you can slow down the momentum and the rhythm of an offense you got to get some tackles for a loss and some sacks this time they come up with a sack by getting after that quarterback drops back looking to throw for it on third down gets the ball up as he's hit but it's incomplete well the defense picks the right time to get after this quarterback third down critical down in distance to a good job of dialing things up and good coverage downfield he didn't have anywhere to go with the ball and the returner brought down by the coverage team so New Mexico state's offense takes the field our first chance to see them today how about the game within a game today the running back coming downhill the linebacker coming up to meet him we expect some collisions on this field today yeah this linebacker is going to have his hands full because this running back is a difficult guy to contain both guys know where each other's going to be lined up at all times it's just going to come down to which guy can come up and make a play against the other hand off on a single back [Applause] [Music] formation second down after that run on the previous Play pre-nap Motion from the offense they flip it to him on the Jet Sweep and he'll make his way out of bounds after gaining decent yardage you know the good thing about this play is it's not an exposive play but it really gives you a chance now to be able to down here on this next play [Music] okay ready offense needing to keep this drive alive it's a third down play they'll try to move the chains here on the ground and they'll stop him just short the marker good effort but the defense holds now it's fourth down now a fourth down oh a big decision here very early they're going to go for it on their own side of the 50 on the first possession big pass here comes a Jet Sweep and he's tackled but only after picking up a first down well they had an entire week to try to find weaknesses in this defense and how to attack and here in the opening drive they're using the receiver in motion to get him the ball in space and give him those blockers out in front great job of Designing the play and great execution here by this [Applause] offense second down after that run on the previous play quarterback drops back and the pass is incomplete INE sixth play of the drive coming up drops back needing a third down completion here looking to set up a scam pass here they make the stop just short of the marker it's going to be fourth down and inches to go on third Downs like this you can only allow completions in front of you as long as you can protect the sticks that's what the defense did here they knew where the sticks were they're able to make the tackle short of the line inside the 30 now four set of bounds after a big game this offense set up for the first down really love the way more more offenses are using the receiver and motion pre- snap give him a chance to get the football with a couple of blockers in front of him he's got all that speed built up you get the ball in his hands and you better look out he could be Off to the Races [Music] coming to the line on second down this is important they want to avoid a third and long out of the shotgun he'll hand it off and they finally offense really threatening now just love watching his back run Gets behind that offensive line lowers his pads and it's a nice solid [Music] game so here we go third down defense need needs a stop here try to force a field goal attempt toss play running right he Powers into the end zone touchdown New Mexico State I just love to see an offense finish off a drive you get inside that 5 yd line you've got to be able to pound the ball to the goal Touchback in the start of the 25 okay here comes the Ohio State offense back on the field last time was a quick three and out and they get a drive going this time using the ground game here tailback has the hand off the gain is three now second down and seven you know the era that we live in right now everybody wants to spread the field around try to create space try to create 101 matchups and the defense has countered over the years by trying to play out wide but here's a great example the defense has the ability to play wide but still be solid at the line of scrimmage and not give up big run plays offense will try to convert a third and long in the 27 we'll see if the defense brings the blitz looking to throw it deep the catch is made for a huge pickup no stopping him takes it all the way touchdown Buckey well perfectly thrown football here and this quarterback's got to be fired up that's his first passing touchdown of the Season here's the first of hopefully many more for this young man and the point after is right down the middle kof teams come on the field now to send this one away here's the fair catch by The Return Man [Applause] here comes the New Mexico State offense on the field now the last possession was a passing game Clinic they moved it right down for a touchdown can they keep it going it's a one yd gain second and nine coming up boy I'm a big fan of that Jet Sweep motion like that it really forces the defense to stretch them out horizontally and can create some vertical scams for this offense they got some positive yards didn't quite get the first down but I tell you what they've done pled a on this defense and they better defend this style of playing moving forward first down play call how aggressive will it be hand off here from the shotgun brought down after a seven yd gain so it's second and three great job by the offensive line here opening up some holes and giving the running back room to run on first down plays like this can open up the playbook for the play caller allow him to make that defense think they're going to run maybe play action maybe throw the ball down field second down after that run on the previous play a pop pass on the Jet Sweep fighting him off that's a big game before he goes out of bounds it'll move the sticks more than enough for a first down the defense has got to do a much better job here adjusting to the pre- snap motion they just kind of stayed in place and it gave the receiver plenty of room there to make a nice play on first down it's play action hit is releases it and the pass ball is incomplete in college football today the quarterbacks get rid of the ball often so fast that this is a great example for young players on the defensive line if you can't get to the quarterback watch their eyes and try to get your hands up so when the ball comes you can knock it away quarterback looking to pass here on second down running back grabs it on the screen they make the tackle but that pass creates a solid gain good time here to drop off his screen and for the offensive coordinator and a nice job by the running back being able to pick up some positive yards here on this play they flip it to him on the Jet Sweep B carrier heads out of bounds but the pickup is good enough to move the chains first [Music] down we've got a good early quarterback duel so far Kirk let's check out his stats [Music] [Applause] back at it to start the quarter offense getting set to RN a first down play going to run it it's Patterson and that's a solid game before the defense able to bring him down Chris the defense dials up the blitz they're unable to get into the back field giving the running back enough room I'll tell you the linebacker makes a great play just to come up with a tackle here they'll run it out of the shotgun Powers through theault were able to bring him down quickly well this guy's got some wiggle and you can see there he's got some power he's able to break through one arm tackle but the secondary comes up to finish him off and the wi out goes in motion quick pass here comes a Jet [Applause] Sweep he make the stop but not before a solid gain that time F it's a new set of downs and it's first end goal for the offense now they're running on the toss he runs it in for the score touchdown agies starting to kind of see a theme here Chris today that's his second touchdown the offensive line doing their job and he's doing an outstanding job of just reading the defense finding the hole and being able to pick up big yards and touchdowns here's the kickoff team Now set to boot this one away doesn't bring the kick out Touchback they start at the 25 here comes the powerful Buckeye offense back onto the field remember last time this SC a touchdown and they keep clicking here or the defense come up with a stop play action here on first down quick throw to the left side and he pulls in the catch tackles was made but not before he makes the 43 yd line this drive is going now buy hustle to the line to run the hurry up they're moving the receiver now before the snap here's a screen pass to the running back and a nice first down game there they get him down but very close to the first down marker offense getting pass pass claught second down now 29 29 to throw it's wyola receiver makes the grab tackle made after a nice pick up on the play tackle is made but the junior quarterback shows off his arm strength that time the Buckey starting a new series here on First and 10 easy they're going to run it here able to fight for a decent gain here in that running F I'll take that every single time offensive line does a nice job up front this back's vision and ability to get positive yards by lowering his pads on full display right there they'll run it from the gun brought down at the three that was a solid run you know all week the defensive coordinator told us about the quarterback he told us about the receivers and how they're going to throw the football but man they better get locked in on stopping this run game because that was a big time game they tackle him behind the line a loss of four D this defense continues to just be physical it's a line of scrimmage offense can't do anything on the ground and by doing that this defense is allowing their defensive front to get pressure on the quarterback every time they drop back to throw they become a one-dimensional offense and the defense brings him down that play sets up a third and goal from the five now drops back from the shotgun looking for an open man CL near the goal line and he scores touchdown Ohio State touch and now we are all even for basically a brand new game here yeah it's exactly right with a tie game you treat this as a fresh slate forget about the mistakes you've made the big plays that you've made before doesn't matter anymore now you just go out and play and go try to win this game [Applause] now the all important extra point and the p is good the is good theame now they get set to kick it away to kick away he'll bring it out from his end zone tackled at the great field position to start the drive here comes the agies offense back out there the last Drive the passing game very effective moved him right down the field and the defense make adjustments really solid first down gain he's just short shot offense getting set second down play here a pop pass on the Jet Sweep moves his way for a first down to the [Applause] [Music] 35 a running play gives the offense fresh set of downs on First and 10 looking to throw to screen pass complete to the running back they're finally able to stop him but the defense is fooled a bit on that screen play it's a solid game for a first down well this is great execution here on this screen play of the running back to pick up big yards in the first down I think in a process Chris they send a message to the defense you can Rush our quarterback all you want but when you do you better be careful cuz we're going to throw the screen on you they get him down but the game moves the ball to the plus 40 That's the two-minute warning now here in the first half that run picks up first down yardage a fresh set of down for this offense looking to Chuck it again the pass rush closing in he's hit right as he throws it INE man you got to love this if you're defensive coordinator it's all about affecting the quarterback and getting pressure on him this time they got to him and forced that in completion they flip it to him on the Jet Sweep and heads out of bounds after a decent game a lot of times these types of plays either go for nothing or they can go for a huge chunk of yards here they do a nice job of getting it to the outside turning it up field and ended up getting a nice gain out of it quick pass here comes a Jet Sweep they make the stop just short of the marker it's going to be fourth down and inches time out is called by the defense that's their first of the half man that Jet Sweep action puts so much pressure on a defense you get so locked in on the ball attacking you downhill but when offenses sprinkle this kind of offense in it's stretches his defense out wide and can create some vertical seams for big plays they've got him but they convert on fourth down and the drive keeps [Applause] going big guys up front lined up it's first down trying the run it's [Applause] Patterson y up second down after that run on the previous play there's the snap they'll set up to throw and they hit him just as he releases the ball it's incomplete kind of a fine line here Chris for me when it comes to throwing a screen pass you don't want to throw it too early obviously and the defense reacts quickly and can sniff it out and you definitely don't want to throw it too late and potentially get sacked you got to intercepted picked off by the defense and he's wrapped up after a solid return when you get this close to the end zone you've got to be able to come away with points at the very least a field goal they got to be scratching their heads and hoping that in the second half this play right here doesn't come back the Deep shot is caught for a big game they're not going to get him he's in touchdown Buckey oh this is how you start to get rolling that's two touchdowns so far and the more he gets fed the more often he's going to cash in P puts him in front by seven being set to kick the ball off [Music] now Turner decides to fair catch [Music] [Applause] this here comes into Mexico State offense on the field now if they want to cut into this lead before halftime they have to work quickly now a pop pass on the Jet Sweep the game moves the ball to the 34 the Frank up the tempo here on second down the time is running out they flip it to him on the Jet Sweep the game is enough to move the sticks ball at the 40 the timeout is called about strategy close game here as we approach halftime yeah to me Chris with this offense it's almost an extension of their running game put the receiver out in motion you flip the ball out to him out to the outside let him do what he does best which is use his instincts and he picks up a first down and he'll rifle this one deep to the right side the ball is picked off and he'll be taken down but after a good return well this guy obviously did what he needed to do to get himself ready for this game it's a favorable matchup he's got a lot of confidence he's already come up with two interceptions in this game alone locked in on what he needs to do to be in position and making plays for this def defense tackle made quickly but a big sh play for this offense through the air the offense will quickly spend a time out here after the play on First and 10 they'll look to throw it and he dumps it off to the tight end and the runner scoots out of bounds after gaining some decent yardage back behind the quarterback aligned in a pistol brings up second dropping back it's wyola the pocket breaking down trying to get the throw off able to get the pass away but took a hit that time now it's third and short in the 21 defense trying to make a stand here and prevent a touchdown looking to pick up the first down through the air from the pocket delivers over the middle and he's brought down but there is a flag on the field let's check out this call and the head coach will decide to accept the penalty and take the yardage so the offense takes the field in the final seconds of the half chance for just a couple more plays tackle after the catch but the ball moves to the four yd line looks like the final play of the half coming up time out is called to talk strategy time for just one or two plays here before halftime so on first down the field goal unit will come out there trying to get three points before the half this one is right through and they add to their lead and that one my go it's almost too easy nice kick so here's the kickoff now offense settling for three tacking on a little bit of momentum before the halftime break Fields it just outside the goal line and the return will be brought down m is going to wrap up the first half here let's kick it now to Kevin Connor with our halftime update way to get the second half going [Applause] and The Return Man decides to Signal fair catch here comes the agies offense back out there no surprise they're in a hole here they've given the football away in each of the last two possessions first down play call coming up how aggressive will it be quick pass here comes a Jet Sweep a tackle it looks like it's going to be anything on the ground and it's because of that defensive line and those linebackers taking away the Run game running play called on Third and short and he's brought down but it's a first down spotted near the 41 and a player is down injured after that last play we'll take a timeout while they check him out and that run is good for first down yardage a new set of downs for this offense moving the receiver around pre snap a PO pass on the Jet Sweep spins away from Defenders they bring him down but a solid game there on first down looks to be just inches short of the marker second down after
