fre there's just something about the night cap after a day of wall toall football it just seems this is when chaos ensues as we'll see a squad from the SEC the Oklahoma Sooners taking on the second ranked team in the land the Michigan Wolverines for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the booth as always by David poock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one up [Applause] the Wolverines will get us underway with the opening kickoff here he comes from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 so the Oklahoma Sooners offense will have the first possession of the game and as the game evolves into an aerial circus sometimes you find a superstar running back like this guy and when you got this guy you ride this guy you give him the ball you run the football you find ways to continue to beat him cuz he just gets stronger and he is snowed under Zack at the seven when you have the type of defensive lineman that Michigan has had over the years you don't always have to send the house to get through the quarterback no it's a beautiful thing when you're a defensive coordinator when you got big strong Stu bus like this year after year Michigan always has a stable full of them of guys that are athletic enough to to rush the passer but physical enough to play The Run it's a fun spot to be in as a DC listen to this crowd just shaking the girders of this place trying to help their defense quarterback checking the play on Third and long hoping to throw beyond the sticks it's complete he's off to the races at the 20 touchdown o Blom and once he found some daylight it was time to make a house call I know it's early this year but it's obvious this guy is a focal point in this offense after having two touchdowns in his first game he gets on the board here doesn't matter where he lines up they find ways to get him the football and defenses just have not been able to figure him out and he takes this from inside the five and the coverage team gets to returner on the ground so Michigan's offense will take the field for the first time one way to mitigate the explosive capabilities he has on the outside is be physical with him and this dude will do that he will do that and you don't see a lot of offenses take the top off this deep because of this guy roaming around in the middle of the field he is a true centered Fielder so this receiver is going to have to make plays why just does such a great job of getting guys on the ground a lot of people are in position but he makes plays so him versus a dynamic wide receiver on the outside will be a great match up they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 out of the gun they give to the back oh man there's some big hitting going on the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running [Applause] attack quickly out to the tight end that had all the makings of bug meet windshield but how about the little corner taking on the big tight end and keeping him from getting the first fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way he only needs a sliver of daylight and returner will be dragged down [Music] here comes the sooner offense back onto the field Jesse looking to take it down the field for backto back touchdown it's really important for them moving forward too to have a lot of balance right you want to be able to keep this defense guessing car yeah and you got me searching for answers after that last drive you stack another drive on top of this their defense's heads are going to be spinning all over the place this offense has a second down play quarterback will audible looking to throw it's Arnold he's going to fire deep and is knocked away an incomplete the defensive back staying in phase and batting it away yeah and I like the shot the aggressive play down the field and we like thr thr those jump balls up to my receiver cuz usually receiver makes the play and makes the defender look bad nice job by the def intercepted taking it the other way and they capitalize not only on the pick but on the great return to improve this field position well the defense was expecting pass on that one third and long they dial up the perfect coverage and a great job in the back end reading and reacting to the quarterback when the ball was in the air coming away with a massive intercep and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense after the big first down sack for the D it's second [Applause] down the give to the back and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage I'm not positive but that first down marker might be in the next County on Third and long you'll need to push it down field and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up and the wolverin will punt this one away doesn't say much for your drive when you're looking forward to the punt he'll field the punt and look for room that's a perfect example of not settling for a fair catch pick up whatever yardage you can and help out the offense now the Oklahoma offense will go back to work off the play fake on first down he's open on the right that's where they'll Mark him a very productive play and a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs from the gun they'll try to impose their will and a nyd gain on first down leaves him with second and [Applause] short to the air it's Arnold got his man quickly they'll stop him at the 31 let's mark it off at five yds and that will be a first down the Sooners come to the line with a new set of downs can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if theyd throw it again he's looking for an open man on second down and he was hit just as he was releasing the pass and it falls to the ground incomplete we're already in the first quarter but already you get the feeling this could be a long day for this QB he's already been sacked he gets hit right there on the incomplete throw they've got to find a way to do a better job up front of protecting this guy or it's going to be difficult to put up points caught they allowed the completion but this defense was swarming to keep him away from that first down line yeah and you allow completions in those third down situations underneath the sticks and you come up in rally and everybody flies to the football that's a great execution by this defense time winding down in the quarter as they come to the line on fourth down he'll try to toss it gets it out quickly dragged down to the turf but not before getting the first down we reach the quarter break with Oklahoma on top guys let's have a look at the stats as we played one [Music] [Applause] period now to see if these guys can get back in the game as we open the second quarter [Applause] back at it to open the quarter with this first down play they're in the red zone and they'll pass it caught over the middle it's AA they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down operating in the Red Zone here on second down he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see what the call is hold they say you could call holding on every play well they did on that one they'll operate out of split backs looking for space it's Achu nice move to keep running plows ahead for a pick up of four down to the 14 boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal scanning the field it's Arnold throws to the back net third down pass left a vapor trail but it's incomplete well on Third and short in field goal range they dial up the pass play quarterback was trying to get through his progressions there was just simply nobody open couldn't make an accurate enough throw ball Falls incomplete Now setting up a big decision here on fourth down Fourth Down In This Crowd is making it miserable on this offense he's got it he threw that one with some serious Heat this senior quarterback doesn't need a lot of space to get it in there and the Sooners have it in scoring position on First and he takes it in for the score touchdown Sooner Man this offense has started the season off so good one and0 a week ago right now building on it again great job putting points on the board it's still the first half but this unit looks dialed in from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets and they'll haul down the returner to start us on the next drive and here comes the Michigan offense back on the field this is when the pressure can ramp up a little bit on an offense David when they start feeling the heat to answer a score and I think being down 14 you can kind of feel that way but dude if you put a good drive together this is a seven-point game so Paulo no need to pay I was just going to say David I mean this thing can flip quick you go down score all of a sudden your defense gets a stop or who knows better yet gets a turnover this game is entirely different he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple here comes the offense on second down using his legs it's Buckley and the defense makes the stop after a minimal game let's see what they find in the playbook for third and long from the 43 wide out in motion on third down he drops the throw quickly complete he's got enough to move the change and they'll spot it at the 47 well we know this guy is special and because of that his quarterback is looking to him on critical down and distances there on that third down there was no question it wouldn't have mattered if he was single covered double covered man Zone that's where he was going with it and the Big Time playmaker outside picks up the First on second down he'll let it fly catch in the middle it's Hansen and that was some kind of collision between a couple of big bodies there and he stopped from getting the first down it's third down now and they ought to be able to get off one more play before the two-minute warning we've made our way to the two-minute warning and now they'll try to at least cut a little something off of this lead before the break from the gun on third down snagged in the middle H Morgan and he gets the first down but man did he get the hit stick laid on his nogget this first half of offense won't go on the Highlight Reel so far starting to get things moving it's first and 10 and he intercepts it the sudden change on the turnover man he was looking for Running Room couldn't find that but they'll have it at the 22 here comes the offense on first down looking to pass it's Arnold oh he's going to try to hit him deep he's got it on the right and a pick up of better than 30 yards on that completion before the defense brings him down they just dialed up one big play Let's see if they've got another one on First and 10 from the 35 it's caught can anyone catch him and he slipped through the crowd and he'll house it touchdown Oklahoma number eight and the offense punches it in again and we call his name again that's two touchdowns now in two games games with still more to be played I tell you what I think this guy's name will be called a lot more throughout the season he's that kind of good about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown on the move from inside is five good job by the coverage unit to stop the return match guys Here Come Those Maze and blue winged helmets on offense boy they've been caught in a buzz saw here in the first half of maybe a chance to carry some momentum into the break here it all comes down to this drive right here Reese obviously this offense hasn't had everything go right for them in the first half but here's an opportunity David to execute some plays put some throws together and generate some points and you're right Jesse and this offense needs to start now like we got to get some points on the board create some momentum and continue it cuz you've dug yourself a significant hole the Wolverines are in the hurry up and that is enough first down the off to the air on first down throwing right a strike downfield hit the gas kid wide open the head and he strides his way into the end zone touchdown Michigan man nice job getting the passing game going th this is big man going to the half and listen I know you're trailing but building some momentum maybe this second half we can keep airing the football out cutting into this deficit and who knows knows what the heck will happen so they got the touchdown now going to put it in the hands of their defense to finish off this half on the run from inside his zone five nice job executing all of the assignments that they put a stop to that return at the 22 time for this sooner offense to go back to work they've got some time to work with here Jesse and if they get a first down they might really get aggressive I'd be aggressive right out of the gate I'd be throwing for a first down if I get it then it's pedal to the metal I'm in that two mode to try to score a touchdown or get a field but I do think this is a situation where you also have to understand that I have the lead going into the half I've got the momentum so don't do anything stupid here wants to throw on first down he makes a catch slicing and dicing through this defense and they've got it down to the 23 this offense is like running a Perfection drill in practice against air chunk play after chunk play and here they come again he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down the offense will have to use its first timeout of the half the suers have moved it inside the 20 now the quarterback changing the original play call knew where he wanted to go with it but couldn't find his Target it's incomplete third third down in this crowd is tearing the lid off this place dropping back it's Arnold got his man he stopped just short of the goal line but they'll have it first and goal from the one this offense has been a juggernaut and they have a chance to pad their total just into the end zone he goes touchdown sooner another rushing touchdown that's now two on the game this offense thought they could come into this one running the ball being the more physical team and they look like it right now that so they got the touchdown and as they kickoff really important for the defense to shut them down here he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the [Applause] half the toss to the right can't get him to the ground he's knock down in the back field he'll lose a couple clock still running almost certainly the last play of the half reload FP it flip it looking for a physical attack from the gun he'll be brought down and that's the final play of the half that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update the Sooners will kick it off to start the second half he'll start the return inside IS F nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 Michigan ready to get that offense rolling again when you're facing a deficit like this one to start the second half you really can't afford to waste a single possession fresh start here in the second half that's the only way you can look at this if you're on offense things did not go your way there in the first half it starts with one play to get our confidence going we just got to get something going early here on this drive one play Stay aggressive now now I think I can be even more aggressive on Fourth Downs I cuz obviously I've built a deficit my defense has got to make some plays for me too and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big kick up on that one the offense setting up shop at the 46 first and 10 used the play fake now to throw they're bringing heat and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out that's the last thing you want as an offense a negative play a sack on first down getting some heat fires one high and deep and it goes through his hands oh he had an explosive play right there for the taking but couldn't reel it in if every Journey begins with a step this offense needs to step into a third down conversion and then try to turn it into some scores and fast looking down down field and he needs a bunch just a short pass to the tight end and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down and the Wolverines decide to punt it away a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best [Applause] work the sooner offense returns to the field that last touchdown Drive was surgical through the air Jesse sure was and that's why this offense is so dangerous David because they can score in a hurry because of how efficient they are and they couldn't hold off the heat and he goes down with a sack Wolverine bringing the heat on the defensive front as they have so many times through the years and you just think about guys that just look great in their UNS big strong Aiden Hutchinson ajabo a lot of these guys in the recent history just they know how to get after the quarterbacks and make their life miserable now staring at a third and short from the 40 the receivers often will run their route based on a side adjustment coming after him and there was nowhere to go for this quarterback and down he goes and the Sooners will bring the punt team onto the field wouldn't call it a shank but I don't think he'll include it on his Greatest Hits he'll settle for some pretty good field position and make the fair catch at around the 35 and here comes the Michigan offense def back on the field David the putter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the P this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a r best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them the football and they got him they'll get him down for the sack this defense they are tenacious and they've got guys up front that are athletic and that are so strong and then can collapse the pocket you saw it right there in that play action attempt keeping it on the ground with the single back they get him stopped at the 32 that's a gain of four see they need more runs like that it's just been so few and far between defensively they've been in position they've been winning their one-on-one battles getting off of blocks and the pass hit picked off not a lot on the return but they can live with that as they've got it at the 49 over first and 10 here come the Sooners ready to go on offense the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum they make the stop but this running game moves to change as they get the first down well the defense knew coming into this one it was going to be a physical game guys are going to have to be great at the point of attack and get off blocks and make tackles it couldn't stop the offense from picking up that first down on that run play they'll snap it on first down from the 35 used the play fake now to throw going for it all touchdown Oklahoma and the route is over after that amazing performance in week one this offense wasn't content they felt like they left some plays out on the field even though they were able to get that win I feel like they've taken another step they've raised their intensity level they've raised their execution this team is going to be a contender this year you can just feel it almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 guys Here Come Those Maze and blue wings helmets on offense one of the most valuable things a quarterback can have David shortterm memory just forget that last P you dang right clear the mechanism it's over move it behind some players can't do that real well and it leads to more mistakes Jesse you got to just forget about it and move on and I think the coaching staff can help him too running for the tap and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop now it's first and 10 from the 46 yd line they'll keep it on the ground didn't get much on first down it's second and nine now the play fake unloads to the wide out and that's going to be incomplete a lot of contact on the play but no Flags it'll be third down they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one easy on third down going up top fires to the wide out can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard-nosed pass defense and now it's Fourth Down the Wolverines line up to punt it [Applause] away no return possible on this one it goes out of bounds and they'll mark it right around the 30 yd line final play of the quarter coming lasso lasso going to run it it's AUP they get him down and that'll be the final play of the third period we reach the quarter break with Oklahoma on top well guys so far this has been a massive beat down and it would appear the biggest challenge is what kind of Records can they set as we have a look at the third quarter stats they're going to test that run defense to the right here the Sooners get the first down well they only needed one yard so no mystery there turn around hand it off and he finds a way to get it the offense lines up at the 40 they've got a first down they'll leave it with him nice solid form tackle from this sophomore SEC versus the Big 10 they competed everything they tried to spend each other and they certainly want to beat each other on the field so many national championships so many Heisman Trophy winners shared between these two conferences David everybody gets excited when the Big 10 takes on the SEC and these games matter so much the fans get so amped up so Juiced up to the point where we hear in the stands whatc they wouldn't say that if conf Pride wasn't a got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 trying play action nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here trying to move the sticks on third down through the air complete downfield and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to end the Sooners will snap it on First and 10 they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one it's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and leading the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did be interesting to see what the offense does on this next one really nice job by quarterback and wide receiver this is why you do film work this is why you throw on air all off season I know I get Zone coverage I know exactly where I'm breaking I know exactly where to deliver the football nice throw nice catch F start the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty and the Sooners will try to punch it in on first and goal lost the pass fires into the end zone touchdown sooner well how about this one a fun when these guys came in as underdogs and they walk out as
