welcome to Mount Pleasant Michigan and the home of the central Michigan chipa was and it looks as if we are due for a full house as we have a terrific game in store we've got a terrific match up for you today rich in pageantry and tradition and it ought to be a fantastic clash as we'll see a te coming off a crucial by week the San Diego State Aztec taking on a team from the max the central Michigan Chipawa for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the booth as always by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one up and the e e e e e e put total Lea and we'll get started [Applause] on the move from inside is five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 the Aztec offense is on the field for the first time today and as we look out on the field here comes the man the man who makes it all go and that's this quarterback and he's big time that's why he's up for all these Awards he's he's known everybody knows exactly what he brings to the table he can run it he can throw it they're expecting big day from this young fell from the gun running back on the Move knocked down after picking up five out to the 24 hey five to six yards a pop I don't know if you guys are really good at math but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't forget about the Run game keep them honest Pound That Rock right back to him on the ground he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple that linebacker was a heat seeking missile and the heat that he sought was the ball carrier yeah great job great feel linebackers are making all the calls in the defense and understanding when I need to come through that Gap and come through with bad intentions those just flying through the air like a superhero to make the grab and the Aztec come to the line with a new set of downs they'll throw it on first down getting some heat and they got him he'll get him down for the sack and the defense there goes Zone coverage maybe confused the quarterback a little bit forced them to hold on to the football and that allowed the pass rush to get home the back goes in motion on second down looking again to throw quickly complete coralled and brought down by the defense that big pick up on what they call the drag rout but if you hit it on time you can hit the turbo boosters and you've got to be accurate on the throw too Reese nice job by the QB there putting it out in front of his receiver to make an easy catch and then Advance it he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short this off moved into plus territory and they want to keep the heat on they'll go for it on fourth down they'll try it on the ground rights off a Defender gets it all the way down to the 39 yd line it'll be a first down and simple play Simple gain get that first down that's all that matters I don't try to trick I go back to what I know I do really really well receiver on the Move gets the touch pass really nice stop there from this senior leader stuck with a running game on first down now here they come again on second down looking to throw flips it out to the back he's there to make the stop but the damage has been done as they pick up the first down on the throwing catch fresh set of downs after the completion used the play fake now to throw unloads to the wide out got it in the middle it's brown they'll finally put the brakes on him at the three a big throw catch and run on that one the Aztec will try to put one on the board on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run he pushes it forward all the way to the 2yd line now on second and goal 6 tries again to get it in he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of perer well he gets tackled down at the one yd line so offensively do you feel confident enough on third here trying to hand it off again yeah and I'm taking both these downs and I'm coming downhill I'm running the football trying to get this in the end zone I only got a yard to go I got to be physical just hammer it with this running back again and he knowses his way into the end zone the offense goes as he goes so really no surprise in the opening drive they keep feating him the football he shows you all of his ability on that TD and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 the ch offense will go to work for the first time today as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of it yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in big games like this small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him honor the Run game you got to do a lot of this defense closed down quickly after a gain of three they'll mark it at the 32 and those physical runs take a toll it might not be a big game now but down the road third fourth quarter late in the ball games they tend to turn into bigger runs they'll run for it on Third and short they bring him down and he's going to l yard on that one the chipa was send out the punt unit getting our first look of the afternoon at the [Applause] punter pretty solid coverage there they'll stop him at the 26 guys let's see what adjustments this San Diego State offense has made this time boy David they would love to stack another touchdown on top of that last drive and this offense did such a good job on the last Drive everything in Rhythm moved the ball down the field didn't make those mistakes Jesse and they need to do it again on this one yeah you're right they had the defense on their heels you wonder what sort of communication was going on that sideline what sort of changes were they able to make cuz they got to stop the bleeding right now they'll go to the ground and a good solid pick up before the defense Cuts him down this is so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down wants to fire on second down coming after him always a welcome play from the defense as they get a sack at the 47 third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass he'll pull it down and run he gets the job done picking up the first down then getting down that'll do it for the quarter guys and San Diego State is on top we put one in the books Let's have a look at our game summary back at it to open the quarter with this first down Play Motion from the offense quarterback flips itead quickly to the receiver and he goes out of bounds after a nice pick up on that one well and on these little push passes timing is so important trying to snap it right as he's getting a full head of steam when he gets the ball he's hitting the outside and David it puts the defense in such a difficult spot you immediately have to be rotating when you see that motion so everybody's got to communicate and kind of bump over that's why offenses love to run it just it makes the defense communicate and see if you can just get him out of a spot and the Aztec will snap it on First and 10 they'll run the option the pitch and he's going to be taken down but there's a penalty flag on the field [Applause] holding we'll repeat the previous down but this time the offense has 10 more yards it has to cover looking for a productive play on first down fast motion from the offense leaves it with the running back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one I love this linebacker because he's able to dissect what's happening in front of him and he reacts downhill uses his speed to get to the line of scrimmage and create the negative play on second down he'll fire pass rush gets there gets home gets him down at the 23 and whatever they did on first and second down don't do that anymore third and very long coming up looking down field and he needs a bunch and here comes the pressure and there he goes down again and now on fourth down they'll try a field goal it's good and now the lead's extended a little farther and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor's in the studio guys let's get you up to speed on what's going down in this fun college football game today Wyoming is ahead in this one but they're still time on the clock and unless Josh Allen puts on that pokes uniform again this could stay tight they're up by seven over Air Force just another week of college football where we've come to expect the unexpected fellas thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final they'll run this play from the pistol they'll give it to the back they knock him down right there and the chipa will hustle to the Line rides to the back nowhere to go the ball's loose oh looks as if the defense got it and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own excellent field position here for the [Applause] offense free snap Motion in the back field he's going to pass floating away he rolls all the way down to the 5 yd line before they finally get him stopped the Aztecs have it in scoring position on first and goal here's the snap looking to throw he makes to catch in the end zone touchdown azx how efficient have they and as they extend this lead here in week five and with the extra point they now have a three possession lead at 17 lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive that touchdown puts him up by at least two scores too early to say it's over probably but boy starting to feel that way it might not be over but you're in trouble and you better find some answers really really quickly this team is putting everything together and right now you got nothing going come on give me something brought down at the 28 but it's a 10yd gain and I love these offensive coaches going right back to your guy I believe in you just because you fumbled doesn't mean I'm not going to give you the football yeah he's repaying the favor right now to this coaching staff as well and doesn't it just seem like he's running with a little bit more juice he looks like he's ticked off and a lot of times you want those big plays you want those Splash plays but sometimes you're going to take some you're not going to run the football overly well but if you continue to run it you can at least create some balance you at least have the threat of it otherwise you're just going to abandon it and now it's just going to be a passing game somebody needs to make a play here it's third and long from the 26 back to throw it's lavis and those two couldn't make the connection it's an incomplete pass the chipa was will bring the punt team onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it away makes a move coverage team able to put a stop to that return at the 42 yd line guys we're about to get another look at this San Diego State offense they're going to throw it to start the drive quick strike complete hits him with a stiff arm nice pick up there gets him the first down and sets him up at the 45 yd line we've reached the two-minute warning and they will try to build on what is already been a dominant first half performance the offense getting set for a first down from the [Applause] 45 quarterback will [Applause] audible he wants to throw [Applause] and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball here comes the offense on second down after the incompletion back to the passing game this time on target he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down and the azte come to the line with a fresh set of [Applause] downs the left and right in the middle of tight coverage and he still makes the grab at the 15 the Aztecs are threatening in the red zone they're threatening to score and they'll throw it and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete well this defense felt coming into the game that if he was going to try to throw from the pocket they could get to him and affect his accuracy and they did on that last play looking to pass on second down they're setting up the screen and that did not work defense smelled that one out from the beginning well they're trying to set up the screen pass to the running back just nowhere to go after he caught the football the defense completely swarmed around him and that's a loss on Third and long you'll have to turn it loose deep he'll get rid of it and this is going to be incomplete on Third and on fourth down here comes the field goal unit and he'll try to make it two for two this time from 35 yds away and that is no good had a chance to make this lead 20 but we're still sitting on a 17 Central Michigan has it back let's see what the chiper can do on offense these guys have taken some body blows in the first half but now a chance to do something to feel a little better going into halftime re they got to respond now they they they got to put points on the board right here cut into this deficit create a little bit of momentum cuz this one's going to get out of hand otherwise yeah there are a lot of offenses out there that might just say okay let's just regroup and figure it out this offense doesn't have time and the pressure was too much they get him at the 15 timeout called by the defense it's their first of the half as they'll go to the sideline and try to make [Applause] adjustments out of the gun to give to the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one the defense going to stop the clock with the timeout they want to make sure they have everybody on the same page fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way takes it on the return found a little Running Room on that one picked up some nice blocks before he's run out of bounds here's this offense with a fresh set of downs [Music] [Applause] they'll crank up this drive with the pass and the quarterback will take a sack back at the 36 and the Aztecs want to move quickly dialing up a second down pass play he'll pull it down nice job of avoiding the sack and picking up a few on the Run they missed a field goal on that last drive but here on third down they can't afford for this possession to come up empty gets it out quickly good tackle there to stop him short of the first down it'll bring up a big decision we've got a timeout in the waning seconds of the half maybe a chance to get off a couple more plays just enough time to get off one final play of the half on fourth down he'll try to toss it finds his man and they convert he steps out of bounds but it will be enough for a first down and in the waning seconds of the first half they'll try to put up three before going to the break this try will come from the left hash and he'll try to curl it in from 38 good right down the Boulevard and now the lead is even bigger we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connor in our halftime update fellas Yan's work so far in Mount Pleasant today and welcome in to the halftime update and we have to start this halftime breakdown by addressing the play of this Elite wide receiver this is clearly a young man who once he's finished playing on Saturdays he's going to be playing on Sundays the kid has different gears he has a knack for finding gaps into defense and I can't remember a college player with that kind of catch radius and with that let's send it back to the guys at Kelly schs Stadium catches it inside his 20 chance to really gain some ground good job by the coverage unit put a stop to that return Central Michigan takes over and we'll get another look at this offense they start this third quarter in a big hole and they have to start climbing out right now and they're going to have to be really aggressive Le like this offense when I'm playing from behind every possession means so much more and if you look the other side the defense they haven't given much resistance yeah nothing is gone their way in the first half offensively and you know now based on how this defense is playing with their confidence that you are going to be challenged on every single snap so buckle up get your mind right and get ready to come back in this game keeps it moving for a three yd gain to the 24 and this offense just can't afford not to get the first down here already trailing big and the clock is not their friend off play action he'll off one deep down the left side oh and he gets down field for the big catch touchdown Central Michigan and once he found open space the band might as well start playing you know sometimes as a play caller you just don't have to overthink things I've got a guy who's faster than your guys and he's just going to run straight down the field I'm going to throw it way down field he's going to make the catch and we're going to score a touchdown and that's pretty much what just happened there getting set for the point after splits those ights right in half and let's check in with Kevin Conor's in the studio Kevin lot of eyeballs on your game guys and a few on this interesting matchup as well Wyoming has opened up a can and the result is what's shaping up to be one of the more lopsided Affairs of the entire day they're up by 17 over Air Force we'll Circle back if anything changes in this exciting college football matchup oh and how about that I know Kevin and those guys will be keeping an eye on it for us quarterback checking the play they'll leave it with him running hard and getting six yards out to the 26 you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the [Applause] offense got six on first down now of options on second and four from the gun they'll try to impose their running game out to the 36 yd line after gaining 10 on that one bill snap it they've got a first down [Applause] out of the gun the running back has it not much working there it'll be second and nine the big defensive tackles in the middle they're not always the best pass rushers but they are strong and I say Country Strong they put their hands on you you feel it they lock people out on the line of scrimmage they create separation they wrap running backs up and usually they don't get out of the midst of those big BS hand off from the gun pretty good effort on that one to work his way up to the 42 that didn't bust for a long one but now third down becomes very manageable it's not third in eternity now the whole Playbook short passing game long passing game all of it's aain snap from the gun on third down caught close to the marker it's brown nice job to pick up the first down and they'll spot it at the 42 the Aztecs are on the move St looking to go up top on first down gets it to the back spins away from the defender they stop him just a link or two short of the first and man what they can do on second down here and they'll come to the line just needing a few chain links for a first down it's reverse and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no game land great discipline by the backside of the defense this is my Gap this is where I'm supposed to be ball goes away so be it I got to stay home stays home makes a great play for a loss here on third down for this offense [Applause] he'll keep it himself at the 20 he's got space he almost punched it in for six they'll get him down at the one yd Line This is obviously a great play physically by the quarterback but how about mentally making the right decisions he was keying on the right Defender he saw the body language of that player and knew he had to keep the football and made the decision so quickly good football IQ there by the QB they'll use the running game on first and goal and he takes it to the house touchdown San Diego State how about this these guys are going for two the offense strikes again to extend its lead here in the second half and they got everything working how great is this you extend your lead now you get your defense back on the field great job taking advantage of the situation and building on that lead throws to the wide out makes to grab in the end zone for the two as they extend the lead so it's an 80 yd drive and they capped it off with a one yd Pune Mig just into the end zone and he'll bring it out not nearly as much as he' hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the Central Michigan has it back let's see what the chipa can do on offense they're down by 21 points but you got them touch down here and you do at least apply a little game pressure Jesse it's true I think for them to get back in this one at this point now they need the quarterback to play his best football he's going to have to be good really pre- snap David making sure they're in the right looks and he's got to be really good with his decision making he's got to be dowed in because defensively you're giving up points so it's not like you have the luxury of your defense playing great offense is going to have to score and score pretty dang quickly he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple I got to be honest I am shocked at just how well the defense has played in this game especially stopping the Run we talked about statistically how they've struggled this season but they have put the clamps down in this one and they're just playing with a ton of intensity pass on the way it's picked off God room on the return touchdown ASX and this defense coming up with points of their own what an interception return what a play by this defense with the pick six and how about the defender exactly what you're supposed to do breaks on the football makes the interception everybody on defense we turn to offense go lay some blocks so my guy can get it and take it back to the house P unit on the field and the extra point sails through and they have a 357 lead they're lining up to kick it off after the pick six and that defense will come out feeling it and they desperately wanted to attempt a return but decided not to instead they'll take the Touchback Central Michigan takes over and we'll get another look at this offense well the good news is they threw a touchdown pass last time long team Jesse well that's an unfortunate part of the game for quarterbacks but guess what they do happen so you've got to be able to turn the page here and Lead this offense well I think you know this defense is going to be aggressive they're going to jump routs they're going to play aggressive you got to take advantage of that maybe use that this time to your advantage this is this is a defense that we know takes tons of Pride stopping the Run that's where it all starts and ends with them and you saw a great effort on that last play hand off to the single running back and the defense holds firm no pick up at all on that play they're going to keep this drive going they'll have to make a play on Third and long from the 26 off the pl paint nowhere to go and the ball is loose defense coming up with a huge fumble recovery got and the quarterback just ran out of time there and they were able to knock it free quarterbacks have got to do a great job keeping two hands on the football especially in passing situations like that because you know Defenders are swatting at the ball even if you can't see them these guys they 65 66 they've got long arms they're trying to rip and tug away and get that ball out of your hands that QB will learn from this play he's got to do a better job with this fundamental [Applause] they'll go to the air they're bringing heat touchdown San Diego State and the puming has started the offense flexes its muscle a bit and widens the Gap take a little exhale you know you did your job you got points now you put your defense in a position where hey go out and get another stop we're in great shap so the offense definitely taking care of their business they'll try to add another to their lead and with the extra point the lead is even bigger about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown michig he thought about bringing that out for a half second but he'll take a knee and they'll bring it to the 25 plenty of time for one more snap before the end of the quarter with Jet Sweep pass and he is stopped for no gain and that will bring us to the end of the third quarter that'll do it for the quarter guys and San Diego State is on top this has been a complete obliteration so far as the third quarter stats will show you so will the beat down continue or is this a comeback for the ages in store we'll see as we start the [Music] fourth will start the quarter offense about to snap it on second down looking for a man it's lavis unloads to the wide out how about getting the foot down on that throw for the big completion the offense has struggled they're not going to win this game but trust me this coaching staff is still trying to find things to build off of for next week and after an explosive play like that maybe they can generate just a little bit of momentum and gain a little bit of confidence that they can keep coaching up heading into their next game now here on second down see if they keep tossing it around he's looking to throw fires to the middle he's got the tight end and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one and the chipa have this offense rolling off the play fake on first down grabbed over the middle it's Davis excellent job working through the air they finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down the chipa was come to the line with a new set of downs now from inside the Red Zone and this will be incom complete big hit there fores second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again you see an incompletion there I think a big reason why this team is in such a hole right now in the fourth quarter is they have just not been able to find the explosive plays throwing the ball you got to wonder at this point is it too little too late now facing a third and long out of the gun the inside hand off to the running back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple now on fourth down they'll send out the field goal unit the holder will spot it about 35 yd out and the kicker delivers the three to salvage that drive I wouldn't say they cut into the deficit they sort of microscopically uh edged off the deficit still a mountain decline slip through the line they bring him down but not before a really good bur sets up this offense in solid field position the Aztec offense ready to go back to work this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer is a different animal now you got to protect it you can tell they were paying attention in practice this week in the film room because they have gone out everybody right now on the same page now a first down from the 45 Y Line quarterback making adjustments with his receivers they're going to test the right side with this one you'll take this every time five yards on the first down play I know the passing game sells and the passing game is exciting but it's not exciting to get five or six yards of pop on the ground but it will be very successful [Applause] they keep it on the ground clock is their friend a strong tackle and wrap up from the Junior after the last run would you just give it to him again on third down [Applause] [Applause] third they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one nice job by this defense listen you got to understand they're going to run the football they're going to try to milk the clock Jesse they got the huge lead haven't been a lot of good plays for defense in this game so far so can they build on that one can they create some turnovers here in the second half to get back in this [Applause] game really putting together a threat now they get the first hits at the 37 this drive has been exclusively on the ground could they be setting up a shot play [Applause] the give to the running back from the shotgun and just wedges it ahead a bit before he's brought down and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first we've reached a two-minute warning in this offense will be quite content just to drain the rest of the time [Applause] away give to the running back and they try the middle of this Stout defense and they rise to the challenge if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum back to pass it's Duffy pressure coming he took a hit as he could and couldn't deliver the football it's incomplete and fourth Down's coming they're happy enough to try to take the points as the field goal unit heads out he's going to reach for a long one a 52 yd attempt no good and they missed a field goal so something has gone wrong today Central Michigan has it back let see what the chipa can do on offense trying to find his man on first down he's right on target this slips one guy now he's loose and he was on his way and they get him down at the 30 first down 10 y to go looking to move it through the air little too much juice on that one from the junior after misfiring it's second down he's looking to [Applause] throw feeling some heat nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down boy guys they got off to a great start with that big first play on this drive but now a couple of incompletions leaves him in a hole he'll take a shot just let him a little too far across the sidelines couldn't make and it looks as if they've buzzed down replay wants to have another peek at that last play so the officials take a closer look in the replay Booth will overturn the call and the chipa was line it up with a first and goal we the aerial assault continues and it's caught for a touchdown they're going to play this one through to the end but this is pretty much window dressing in a lot of losses you just want to burn the tape you don't want to watch it but I think there are some things that they can take into next week from this performance no doubt offense is about finding your Rhythm finding your groove what you do well and you can tell at least now starting to get a little something something going that maybe you can build on he'll bring it back from inside to SP he's got it out he is electric in the return game and that one has the offense set up nicely line gets set first down quarterback changing the plays at the line running back searching for a hole shakes off a tackler well he did everything he could to try to avoid all those Defenders but at the end it's still a negative play tackle for L one Defender then the next one the blitzing guy got a shot at him everybody had a shot it took a while to get him down yeah great effort by that defense not putting on the play that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this [Applause] one to the air it's Duffy pocket starts to collapse it's caught down field they are in no mood to show any Mercy as they keep flexing their muscles on offense up big in the fourth quarter and you just keep taking shots down the field that tells you something okay you can take what you want from it but this offense definitely not interested in running clock interested in making a point they'll use the timeout six seconds left on the [Applause] clock he's looking for an open man on second down now adjusting had to throw it before he wanted final shot falls to the turf and that'll be the ball game just complete and utter dominance in this one outplayed their opponent and took care of visits yeah Total Domination in all three phases of the game offense defense and special teams this team came ready to play and man it was pedal to the metal right from the opening kickoff and that's how you like it forget the close games forget the Heartbreakers the oh this play could decided just
