they'll run down the hill in one of the most storied entrances in all of college football Death Valley Clemson South Carolina home to the Tigers since 1945 what we have in store for you today a clash between a couple of SEC teams that could have season long ramifications as we'll see the Oklahoma State Cowboys taking on the fourth ranked team in the land the Clemson Tigers glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis David Pollock and Justin Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to tee it [Applause] [Music] up and the Cowboys will kick it away to start us off and he's going to run it back rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] 13 on first down Here Comes This [Applause] offense he wants to throw oh he's going to go up top makes a catch down the right side and they pick up of better than 30 yards on that completion before the defense brings him down this guy has the look of the next big play receiver Clemson in the vein of T Higgins or Mike Williams or Deandre Hopkins or Sammy Watkins I mean the list is pretty lengthy of guys that are are big explosive fast and they can really win on the outside and Clemson as much as anybody they're going to catch the ball spit it to those guys let them go make plays back to pass it's KCK throws to the wide out he's got an open man he's there to make the stop at not four he sets up this offense first and goal from the seven just came out and fired a strike on the slant and those are tough catches to make because you know you're going to have that Defender draped all over you so you've got to have strong hands and you saw that receiver pluck the ball Clemson will come to the line with the first and goal go used the play fake now to throw swings it out to his running back and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that nice job about the defense that's what you're supposed to do as soon as they catch the football he want to limit that yards after the catch and he went nowhere after the catch nice job by the D keeps looking downfield he can't make the connection it'll be incomplete he can scramble but couldn't create anything there it's still third and [Applause] goal from the gun wants to pass it's complete they will score touchdown tiger they'll try to add another to their lead and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game a very efficient five playay scoring drive and they close the deal with the seven Y for the score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive coming out with it it's Freeman he's brought down at the 16 would have been much better off to take the touch back you can barely hear yourself thinking here as they're trying to get this defense off to a good start the run from the shotgun running with power knocked down at the 26 after ripping off 10 there well I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the dline they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the first quarterback on the keeper and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing in a competitive conference like the SEC you just can't afford to start 0 and one if you want to change a championship really important to get off to a good start no doubt in the SEC you've got to set the tone early it's all about creating momentum out of the gate both of these teams had this game circled all off season David they know what's riding on the line yeah so much riding on the line who gets to Atlanta down the road um bragging rights recruiting rights all this stuff once you get in conference play it means a lot every single week the Cowboys come to the line with a new set of downs wants to throw on first down unloads to the wide out it's caught crosses the 30 he's got away this defense giving up ground as he's finally knocked down at the 26 That's What's So Scary About This offense they've got guys in the perimeter that can change the game in one single play and you saw it right there too much speed on the perimeter to create that explosive play this offense always looking for those big explosive plays and now they've got it just inside the 30 he'll come out throwing on first down fires to the wide out and his throw is incomplete not sure exactly what went haywire there but the timing was just off and that's your job as a defense right you got to find a way to disrupt the timing and jam wide receivers or get to the quarterback can make him feel uncomfortable but you can't let that timing be easy and effortless nice job by the defense now on second down after the incompletion the aerial assault continues makes his connection and he picks up the first down but he will remember the price he paid after that hit really nice job on that play quarterback and receiver being on the same page quarterback not telegraphing to throw and the receiver does a nice job finding the soft spot in the defense just settling down and giving his quarterback a nice Target to throw and a really good job focusing on the catch a lot of people get lost on their feet and trying to stay in bounds but did a good job catching the football first and then getting that one foot they needed in Balance looking to throw on second down and he'll step into the end zone touchdown Cowboys get set for the point after right down the boulevard they go 83 yds on the drive and they finished it off with the score from the four after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again and he's going to try to return this one rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out he stopped at the [Music] [Applause] [Music] 13 Clemson ready to dial up some ball plays they've got it on offense that last touchdown Drive was surgical through the air Jesse it sure was and that's why this offense is so dangerous David because they can score in a hurry because of how efficient they are throwing the foot and welcome to Modern college football that's what it is spread you out find my playm make quick decisions and really put defenses in a difficult situation got three on first down it's second and seven dropping back it's cnick going for it all and it goes through his hands oh he had an explosive play right there for the taking but couldn't reel it in they couldn't make the connection on second down now a third and seven to keep the drive alive from the gun wants to pass that third down pass was coming in hot before it fell to the ground and on that incompletion I think the quarterback was being just a bit too careful trying to throw that ball too far outside obviously aware that the Defenders are coming from the inside you don't want to put it behind the intended target and risk the pick six but he needs to he'll take the Deep shot and it's incomplete the long pass downfield they couldn't hook up what a great job by this defense you get third down stop and you're like yes put my hand in the air fourth down force a punt they go forward and you get a stop and set your offense up in great field position already nice job by this defense Oklahoma State hoping to get the pistols firing on offense Jesse a very productive Drive last time wound up with a touchdown yeah mixing and matching play calling really well touchdown Cowboys lead the grab and finish the deal in the end zone and that's a nice job selling it by the offense dropping back making it look like its pass that running back slipping out of the back field throwing in the football getting a dynamic playmaker in space and he says I got this I'll do the rest and get the touchdown now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and the pat gives him a 14-7 lead we check in with with Kevin Connor what's going on Kevin fellas I think at least a portion of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished up Oregon was anything but dominant today but the Ducks are going to leave oddson stadium winners a lot to work on no question but they avoid one in the elol a lot to go through in the film session this week for both teams but boy it sure is going to be easier for the side that came away with the win yeah how about that sounds as if they had a good ball game there Kevin thanks for the update throws to the wide out it's caught down field he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down when you're throwing these comeback routs man the timing has got to be so good between the two of them because you know the ball is going to be in the air a long time you can't throw it late it's going to get picked that time really nice job getting and the Freshman will talk up a sack and that is an all too familiar listen this team won last week but they gave up four sacks they got to protect this young man early in this game don't set the tone and let's not go back to last one from the gun the running back looking for room and they'll bring him to the ground after a short gain you know as a defense you kind of want to force the get on the RPO you want them to run the football and you can tell maybe the quarterback wishes he pulled this small gain but some information you gathered maybe for the next time you get to run an RPO ball is at the 41 as this defense tries to force the punt on Third and long looking for a man it's cnick going to try to pop one on the screen ran right through the defender and now he's still running now they're starting to feel it they've got a first down at the 44 he's going to pass spits it out to the back quarterback needs to make a better throw there incomplete they'll be able to get off one more play before quarters end they'll leave it with him they make the Stop and that'll bring the first quarter to a [Applause] close Oklahoma State 14 Clon they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first down looking to move it through the air grab behind the line it's Gade he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense and that's why for the offensive coordinator you've got to find as many ways as possible to get get this guy going just get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage doesn't need to be a throw deep down the field he's so Dynamic when he has the ball in his hands he saw it right there what a snag by the defense God room on the return the 40 at the 30 the 10 and it's going to be a pick six touchdown Oklahoma State Oklahoma St look I know it's only the second quarter but we're starting to see a pretty significant Gap developed between these two teams right now no doubt when your defense is scoring your offense is scoring good things happening for your ball Club this defense on point reading their Scouting Report making big plays the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six this will not be returnable as it sails out of the back of the end [Music] zone first down here for the offense receivers telling the quarterback what they see to the air it's kutnick there bringing Heat and the quarterback caught up two and sacked at the 12 and that's not how you want to start a drive on the very first play you give up a sack and you lose a ton of yards quarterback you've got to know just throw the ball away knowing the play is over hand off from the gun after that one not quite so backed up as they're up to the 18 yd line coming off a season in which things really didn't go their way in conference way and they love to get on a roll here this season well this is a team from a roster standpoint though that believes they're better on the field than they were a year ago they've made some additions through High School recruiting through the portal and they think that's going to be the difference David and now they got to put it together right and this is when it really works when you get in conference play it gets different the familiarity within the league of all the coaches and so this is really hard for them but I'm interested to see what they can do and to see if they can bounce back feeling some heat gets drilled as he throws the big pressure on fourth down and they'll get it back that's a great job there by the defense you're early in this game getting a huge stop and they've got an opportunity to make the opponent pay offense taking over and the ball comes out what a disastrous play defense falls on the ball going to be a turnover you know as quarterbacks you've got to be good in the pocket even when things are collapsing and You' got guys swiping at it you got to have two hands on the football didn't do a really good job with ball security there and that led to the fumble off the play fake on first down to throw got him downfield and he was on his way cats it all the way to the 38 really nice play there catching the pass and I'll tell you it's not easy to get on the field these days Clemson if you're a wide out because of the success they've had recruiting and all the NFL Talent they've had outside at the position getting on the field and competing is no simple tax it's not easy to do but this guy has everything you look for he is built to succeed not just at the college level I think this guy's got an opportunity on Sundays [Applause] too the short hands it's brown they were able to get him stopped just shy of the first down marker how nice is it in this offense to have your best receiver playing in the slot you're matching him up against linebackers against safeties or nickel Corners nickel Corners are often times the and that's a live ball behind the line def coming up with a huge fumble recovery man that's fumbles in consecutive weeks coaches don't like that they start to you know what happens is the trust Factor goes out the window I don't want to run you as much cuz I can't trust you as much especially in big spots got to hold on that football and not much going on downfield he'll just get rid of it and Live to play another down a nice job by the quarterback there you're outside the pocket nobody's open so you throw the the ball away knowing that you still have more chances to get this first down the incompletion on first down now they face a second and 10 from the 31 they'll run it out of the shotgun pushes ahead for a couple they'll mark it at the 33 and the Cowboys racing to the line in the hurry up third and long and he'll try to throw for it fires to the middle he's got it that'll be enough for the first down and they'll mark it at 48 and listen the defense knew coming into this one they were going to Target him early and often he is a weapon and there's no mystery where the quarterback's going to be looking on critical down and distances let's see how they are able to cover him throughout the rest of this game sends it downfield and they dialed up a shot play but they couldn't make the connection well they're trying to attack the middle of the field that time the ball little too high for his wide receiver and it falls incomplete the incomplete brings up a second down he's looking to throw back open in the middle and he was able to get away from one tackle but plenty of help was on the way decent pick up on that play this defense is going to have to be careful not only do they have to worry about this guy running the football but they've got to keep their eye on him when he runs routes too he is a versatile back nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry we've reached the two-minute warning and they will try to build on what has already been a dominant first half performance the Cowboys will try to move the chains on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down fires to the big fella put it right on him sweet play good pickup and they'll move the change with the first down the metrics tell you so often go ahead go for it on fourth down and it pays off there that just shows you the head coach is confidence in his quarterback to go out on a critical fourth down and [Applause] execute and the Cowboys have it with a first and [Applause] 10 out of the gun the inside hand off looking for a Prest I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gain tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven movement here from the tight end defense showing plenty of pre- snap movement of their own pressure coming nowhere to go and the ball is loose oh and he gets it back to so you can file that one under could have been worse and those are so frustrating when you're a defense and you swung to the football you stick the quarterback and you make him cough it off just to have the other team recover it again and you don't get it still a good stick still a good physical play keep hitting that [Applause] quarterback he'll ride his man on the option he'll toss it shows him the stiff arm and boy is he close so that first down maybe just a couple of inches short there's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half fourth down and less than a yard and of course the offense is going to stay on the field he'll sneak [Applause] it first for the off this defense just can't get off the field the offense Unstoppable wide out in motion they try to get it outside on the left showing off the arm yeah this offense is going to try to run the ball and do it in a variety of ways you'll see Zone reads you'll just see straight downhill running we'll get the toss play going as well to try to keep this defense on the HS halfway there there on first down it's second and five the defense calls the timeout their second of the day as they try to get their act together and now on second down for this offense DB's right up on the receivers motion from the offense they've got him looking run now they're going to throw it he is brought down but man what a job to find some Running Room and move the chains the offense Wast no time getting the timeout call now on first and goal a score here and that mountain is huge if you want to make a comeback and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land the Cowboys want to move quickly he'll do it himself he had all kinds of company as soon as he got and he had to fight his way back just to get to the line of scrimmage the offense will stop the clock and use one of its timeouts running out of of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break he got it and he wanted the score badly but the defense wrestles him down at the two looking to throw unleashes to the end zone and he's got it touchdown Oklahoma State no step back in week three they have been sharp as they extend the lead and and I love this offense man staying aggressive just because you got the lead you know people can score points in bunches this offense keeps the foot on the accelerator scores again on the final play now this offense has even more of a cushion going into halftime lining up to tack one more onto that lead and they knock through the extra point and they're up 28 to7 that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halftime update ready to start the second half and Clemson will kick it [Music] away but see what he can get done from inside his own 15 he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 Oklahoma state has it back in the offense is on the [Applause] field complete to start this drive got room at the 35 fin away run out of bounds but he has his offense rolling with a first down and as a defense how scary is it having to defend this guy he's one of the fastest players in America and you saw it on that last play it's not necessarily throwing him the ball over your head they just get it to him quickly the hard part now is running and tackling that ball is loose defense swarming on that loose ball it'll be a turnover oh and it's a hit like that that will absolutely light up the sideline light up the stadium change the momentum and help you win a football game because that hit is what cause that fumble trying to find his man on first down got a man it's G he's run out of bounds but not the turning in a big pick up and moving the six for a first down list running backs are not just running backs anymore you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football and a great job sneaking out of Back Field getting the football letting them get some positive [Applause] yards and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup that has got to be demoralizing if you're on defense because they just ran the ball right up the middle down your throat and they gashed you looking to throw it's KCK receiver looks it in it's complete they stop him almost immediately short game there and still a little brown to cover pick up the first Clemson now operating in the Red Zone on second down he's looking down field buys a little TI lets it go to the end zone and he can't find his man as he was trying to pay off this Red Zone opportunity couldn't find his man last time now they'll have to convert third and four he's looking to throw C in the back field it's Moore and he was just a couple of steps away from taking that one even further after the catch Clemson jumps to the line tigers turning to the running game on first and goal and a decent gain there before the defense makes a stop I like this guy as a running back because he can run between the tackles and he can also go outside he can really do it all two of their three Red Zone trips have come up empty they'd like to punch it in here on second and goal wide receiver shows motion touch pass on the Jet Sweep they just GLW through that offensive line it's a four yd loss well I love the aggressive nature of the defense on that play everybody playing with eye discipline they saw the pre- snap motion they knew who had the football and you saw guys play with excellent Instinct running down the hill and making a tackle if this defense can come up with a stop here they will take a giant step toward winning this [Applause] game that one did not go well tackled in the back field for a loss of six well you'd think this would be a very makeable field goal attempt but they're going to go for it on Fourth now quarterback changing the plays at the [Applause] line he wants it all touchdown Clemson and they made it to the house where they found that six points waiting on him no quarterbacks and receivers they develop confidence and chemistry as the game goes on these two right now are definitely on the same page and with the extra point they Trail by two touchdowns 2814 let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got a bit of an under the radar game this week guys but take a look at this New Mexico state is down but they are not out of it not inside Aggie Memorial Stadium one of the more fun places to watch a game in all of college football it's just a a field goal game they're trailing by three to BYU we are the eyes and ears of the college football fan and we've got you covered all day here in studio guys thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final Oklahoma State hoping to get the pistols firing on offense a collision and he stopped at the 27 after picking up one second [Applause] didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw quickly complete ripping off a pretty good chunk of yardage they've got it out to the 41 with a first down nice pitching catch there from QB to wide receiver great job and an out route is all about timing 1 two three boom break out throw to him right now great pitch great catch and they took a shot on that one but couldn't make the connection it's incomplete how about the difference a week makes for this QB last week man the completion percentage way down just wasn't consistent wasn't in good Rhythm right now looks like he's in total control and this offense is moving at a way better Pace looks like a completely different team from last we well you haven't seen a lot of incompletions from this guy now in his last two games out completed over 70% of his throws last week he's doing it again in this game as a head coach you got to love the fact that your quarterback is dialed there almost got to the sticks on third down able to pick up six but they're looking at a fourth and one he'll try to throw and pick up the first down makes a catch past the sticks good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch you talk about taking the wind out of a crowd a fourth down conversion will do that yeah they were jacked up in here excited the fans Get Loud rush the passer and how about the conversion the big fourth down conversion here in the third quarter to give yourself some life in a tight ball game he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three trying to run the ball on first down guys but just nothing doing up front their offensive line got blown up on that play there was nowhere for that guy to go makes the catch it's golden and he's able to shed one tackle and pick up pretty good yardage I like the decision by the quarterback here just get the ball out of your hands get it to your playmaker a lot of times he'll dance and make even bigger plays than he did here but it was still a positive game to the ground to try to move the chains he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three it's amazing how play by a defensive end in the back field can really swing the momentum not only of a series but of a game sometimes all you're trying to do is create negative plays to get them behind the sticks a little bit to get those sacks and the pass hit picked off and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception timing has to be so good you're throwing it his own defense over the middle of the field the ball's got to come out specifically on time cuz these windows close really quickly ball there thrown a little bit late as a result it's an INT trying to start the drive with a pass makes the grab it's brown and they make the tackle not before he gets the first down now let's see if they rush to the line or let the time run out here in the third that's the end of the third Oklahoma State 28 CL [Applause] 14 offense in a bunch formation to the air it's KCK a little screen to the running back and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there and this offense I think will do a good job in this game diving up the football and distributing it to different guys in the passing game it won't just be receivers it's not going to be tight ends this running back he's a weapon too after he catches it you saw it right there getting some heat nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down now this offense tries to figure out a way to move the chains after the second down misfire they'll try to pick it up on the ground he just needed a yard on third down and there just wasn't any room to pick it up well it's Fourth and short and you're sort of in no man's land at this point near Midfield I think if you're on offense here you're going to have to go for it you're going to have to show confidence in your guys to get it done and go get you the win they get him on the ground after he gets enough to move the sticks Clemson is quick to the line that's a risky play call there fourth in a couple of yards and you turn around you hand it to your running back just and the defense gets home and makes a play at the 37 yd line how about the defense getting home with the pass rush playing man coverage in the back end you need to win up front those guys got to get to the quarterback do a great job rushing the passer I can play man when I got a pass rush like that looking to throw on second down got his man to the left and remember we saw this receiver in the first half have a number of inward breaking routes so now in the second half we're seeing more stuff to the outside that's a really good adjustment by this offensive forb from the Red Zone looking for a receiver and that pass intercepted and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception great job by the Freshman kept his eyes in the right place and made the play nice job by this defense that might be the exclamation point fourth quarter I got to lead you bring on the nickel defense you know they're passing the football for plays just like that to make the int and almost put this one away he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well they've got the lead the defense just did their part getting a takeaway so now if you're on offense you want to run the ball and take as much time as possible between snaps stay in bounds and let this clock tick away he's looking for a man on second down he finds his man didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few he's just winning that match up in the slot every time and when you put him in the slot Reese is's closer to the quarterback it's an easier throw we can run in we can run out and really take advantage of his versatility for the guy that slot position they're setting up the screen great move now he's he's got room he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down he just keeps piling up numbers with completion after completion in this standout performance I think some people might say late in the game you got the win everything's in hand be a little bit conservative or you just say I'm just going to keep doing me and what I do with this offense is throw the football all over the yard and I'm going to try to win me a big trophy at the end of the year got three on first down it's second and seven they'll keep it on the ground trying to milk the clock they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they need it and he's out to the 43d big third down for this defense listen you got to get the ball back you know what they're doing they're trying to run the football but we need the clock to be on our side so our offense has some time got to make a stand right here on third down he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss three well they're trying to get that run play going to the outside but it's the defensive end who does a great job winning his one-on-one and forcing the negative Play We reached the two-minute warning and this offense is that much closer to salting away a victory and the Cowboys will punt it away on fourth down the punters have had the day off up to this point first one of the game excellent coverage that time didn't give him any room to set up a big return [Music] [Applause] first Clemson has their paws on it and they'll send out the offense that last possession a prime example Jesse of how things get condensed in the Red Zone hard to throw when the windows are smaller and that's what happens down here at the goal line David this quarterback here just take accountability and ownership come out here lead your offense and move on like we needed points that's something that we can harp on we'll watch the tape this week but now it's time to move on let's get another drive going and he just continues to put up numbers and that number is now over 300 this guy just throws completions man the ball doesn't seem to touch the ground he's back there he's making the right reads right now he is locked into what this defense is trying to do hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and it never had a chance this offensive line is not going to like watching the film back uh tomorrow when they get the opportunity because they have gotten beat time and time again up front especially in passing situations all of the hits all of the sacks this quarterback is taken is the biggest reason why they're going to lose this game trying to escape and get it himself and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pick up defensively the clock late in the game when you're winning it's your friend you got to find a way to keep that thing ticking when you rush the passer keep that quarterback in the pocket make him beat you from in there you're dropping back coverage you got more DBS on the field you're just trying to let him throw the football get him on the ground let that clock TI he threw that one with some serious Heat this senior quarterback doesn't need a lot of space to get it in there they'll throw it on first down fires to the right how about getting the foot down on that throw for the big completion what a great job outside working that route not only did he get to the sticks to make sure he got the first down but also was able to get himself out of bounds to stop the clock you could not do that any better in a two-minute situation starting to feel a little pressure into the end zone and it's hard for the late touchdown so how about this maybe we are set up for a finish and listen still a ways to go a great job by this offense getting you back in the ball game now we got to one possession game we got our score we did what we're supposed to do now how do we get this stop now the defense has to come up big and give me the rock [Applause] back about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown he'll bring it out it's Freeman I know he thinks he can house every return but sometimes you just have to take a knee as he stopped at the [Applause] 14 Oklahoma state has it back in the offens is on the field so we've got a tight spot here David they'd love to run off the clock but all those timeouts staring at them oh it's loose and the offense will maintain possession son that ball must be riveted to your rib cage man and this is why you practice Five Points of pressure with the football you cannot put the ball on the ground doesn't matter how many Defenders are around you or how hard you get hit you cannot turn the football over and expect to win games quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear it a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it the Cowboys will try to run off the clock in the final minute they'll keep it on the ground and how about the work up front by that big defensive line defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their [Applause] offense balls at the 29 defense can taste getting off the field it's third and long it's a draw and they did not let him reach the line to gain it'll bring up a decision here time out called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible and the Cowboys will line up to pun it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he couldn't find much Running Room there didn't get a lot of blocking and he'll step out of [Music] [Applause] [Music]
