The Snake and Pat Tilman maybe you need a little caffeine or maybe the sheer energy of this matchup will keep you wide awake as we know anything can happen when you kick off after dark as we'll see a team looking for its first win the Wyoming Cowboys taking on a team looking for its first win the Arizona State sundevils for EA Sports college football I'm reys Davis joined here in the booth as always by David PES we'll put total Lea and we'll get started from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position he's got great speed wide open and it's a foont race he will score touchdown wide open how about special teams being special on the opening kick you work in meetings all week and we might have a chance to bust one first kick takes it bust it through uses the speed takes it all the way back to the house what a start they'll try to tack one more on their score and he's got the extra point and it's seven nothing to start this one sometimes you hope a return will give you good field position sometimes it puts a touchdown on the board like that 93 y just did on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 so Arizona State as offense will get the first swing of the game as we take a look out impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in big games like this quarterback on the keeper oh how did you make that move they finally get him on the ground with the big running play moves to change for the first down from the gun the running back has it and he does a really nice job finding open space and making a good gain before the stop is made second down coming up on second down he'll let it flop HS it in and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chain the Sun Devils are flying down the field the give to the back they'll pick up four second and Six coming wi with the running game on first down now back at it lost to fire on second down got his man downfield and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one is now set up in the Red Zone they're going to run it pull down after a gain of five it's at the 9 yd line going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down running back goes in motion and he'll step into the end zone touchdown sundevils the offense goes as he goes so really no surprise in the opening drive they keep feeding in the football he shows you all of his ability on that [Music] TV ling up to add another KCK is on for the extra point right down the boulevard so a drive there of 82 yds and what a way to finish it with a nyd touchdown [Applause] run looking for an alley from inside his own 10 not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 so Wyoming offense has the ball for the first time and what a great matchup we have of two highly prod Ive Runners David and I like the competition aspect of this reache like I'm watching what you're doing on the other side and I'm going to prove I'm a better running back than you both these guys are looking to be the man today and both guys Can Go the Distance right these two running backs seem to get better as the game goes on so which defense can be more physical step up and at least slow the other guy down and so many things have to come together perfectly for a scream to work for big yardage and they were close you could tell almost busted but they just got wrapped up got a little bit of yardage but they really wanted that one to be a big Gainer Chun it away just as he was hit give that guy a lot of credit man he was able to somehow avoid that sack but nobody opened down field throws it away that's the first one of the day out of there and we saw a lot of him in that loss last week four times to be exact Arizona state has the ball back and the offense making its way onto the field this could be a real real turning point in the game they scored a touchdown they got a stop and now a chance to break the tie yeah this offense has got it cooking man and how about the defense great job getting that stop getting the football right back to the hot hand now this offense Palmer has a chance to take the lead you could see the offense too they understand the situation right now they were jonesing on the sidelines to get another opportunity to run back on the field they are ready to drive this ball and go score really nice stop there from this senior leader ran the ball on first down let's see what they do on second down looking for room it's scattero and the defense makes the stop after a minimal game now this offense facing a third and long from their own 30 looking downfield and he needs a bunch almost intercepted it'll fall in complete the defense almost came up with a turnover and the sundevils will try to pin them back with the punt doesn't say much for your drive when you're looking forward to the punt he'll be content with the field position making the fair catch right around the 30 yd line quick pass on the jet motion you'll take this every time five yds on the first down play kept it on the ground last time let's see if they go back to it on second down off the play fake pressure coming and that's just a flat misfire not even close to his receiver we'll see if they go back to the air after the incompletion it's third and five to the air it's faot he's got his man good pick up there as he gets the first down and they'll Mark him at the 48 the Cowboys come to the line with a new set of downs they keep attacking through the air and and he can't escape and down he goes you're not going to win a lot of games if you can't protect your quarterback in their last game they got sacked four times lost the game so far in this one they're having difficulty again these guys up front have got to do a better job communicating and giving their QB [Music] time after the big first down sack it's second down he's looking to throw he's got it oh what a big play for this offense as they get it to the 33 yd line and the Cowboys are marching down the field that's first for the off he'll keep it himself and the ball squirted out he picks it up still on his feet oh they are breathing a sigh of relief after that recovered fumble on second down looking again to throw he's brought down but there's a flag on on the field let's see which way that's going to go personal foul ring defense you just can't hit the quarterback like that that is a dumb play and the defender got caught red-handed they'll give it to the back keeps the legs moving secondary walks up on the line showing press coverage operating in the red Zone here on second [Applause] down and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play that's the end of the entertaining first quarter and we are all locked up after one as we take a quick look at some stats they fought to a stand still in the first let's see who gets the edge early in the second really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the field goal motion trying to get the defense to show its hand and this soft more able to wreak some havoc and get the sack and it's such an advantage for this defense to have an outside linebacker like that that can rush the passer because they can set the edge they can get off the ball and they're just way too fast for tight ends or for offensive tackles to get out and block them so they'll send out the field goal unit and the holder will put it down on the left has a 34 yd attempt coming and the kicker delivers the three ball to finish off the drive and guys after the field goal now they have the lead so they're lining up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down he'll bring it back from inside to five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Arizona state is going back on offense and they come out looking for a spark they're going to run it to the right they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all about illegal block the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty they go to the ground they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down after trying the running game let's see if they do it again on second down from the gun give on the inside found a little bit of Running Room knocked down at the 24 after a pickup of four how bold will they be on third down after that last run from the gun wants to pass and they get to the quarterback and knock him down back at the 16 how nice is it as a defense when can drop seven guys in a coverage only Rush four and still get home that makes you feel good if you're the D coordinator the sundevils will send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away surprisingly makes a fair catch just outside the 40 yd line Wyoming takes over the football and the cowboy offense on its way out they kicked a field goal on the last Drive Jesse they've got the lead don't make a dumb mistake but maintain your aggressive play caller yeah no doubt and I think it's the play caller right now just taking a look at that script he's got in front of him finding out where are my Playmakers who can we take advantage of on this defense to get a touchdown here DAV yeah and just keep moving the ball down the field just execute a little bit better in the Red Zone there's no need to panic we're moving the football and we got the lead some early movement along the offensive line and they'll walk it back F start off so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty a chance to sort of put the defense on its heels if you convert a third and long this one from the 44 finds his man down the middle he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see what the call is personal foul R the pass defense [Applause] that was right on the borderline you want to make that quarterback feel you but the official thought it was a little too much the roughing the passer penalty shakes off the tackler he dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 encroachment defense so the early contact for the defense and they'll move it up five yds wants to throw it's faota fires to the wide out he got it so close to that end zone he could almost taste it but it'll be first and goal for this offense and a really good job by the quarterback being very decisive he saw his matchup he went for it he attacked it got the positive game I would say he's going to fight on that guy into the endend Zone he goes touchdown mustard and brown follow the blockers the offensive line will take you to the Hallelujah land and I tell you what most of the time Reese it requires a little bit of skill to find that hole and you know Slither through a little crack that was not a crack that was wide open didn't take a lot of vision cuz the blocking was outstanding now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor's in the studio lot of eyeballs on your game guys and a few on ultimate drop killer we'll see if it cost this offense here looking for a gap it's scattero ran through the tackle and he smashes his way through again he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see which way that's going to go the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty here's the snap looking to throw fires to the right a strike downfield finally run out of bounds but he has his hopins rolling with a first down the sundevils come to the line in the hurry up one of the things that makes this guy so dangerous is how good he is after the catch if he's got any space around him he's able to burst he's able to make people miss and get extra yards for his offense you saw it right there we've made our way to the two-minute warning and now they'll try to at least cut a little something off of this lead before the break it's a draw and he could not get loose on the Run they've got it in field goal range but they'll try to convert this third and long from the 20 moves away as he feels pressure short gain on the play before he slides timeout is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this executing all of the assignments that they put a stop to that return at the 22 Wyoming has the football back and here comes the offense and David how they would love to stick it in the end zone one more time after that last drive and once you get the defense on their heels and you back them off a little bit you get in a little bit of Rhythm it's really hard stop Jesse and they're going to try to do it again right here and if you're this play caller you're loving what's happening right now because everything you dialed up on that last Drive ended up working out you're just looking at your play sheet everything you're picking is working let's see if they can pull it off again here they turn to the passing game on Third and short short completion along the sideline will be enough for the first down they've got a first and 10 at the 34 looking to move it through the air from the off makes his connection and they'll shove him out of bounds after the short gain now after the short completion it's second down dropping back it's faota and they got him he'll get him down for the sack and those outside linebackers nowadays they're so fast they got to cover ground you can Blitz them off the edge and they can get after quarterbacks versatile that's why they're getting drafted so high in the NFL and paid all that money third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off looking left and this is going to be incomplete on third down the Cowboys will bring the punt team onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he's brought down but really solid effort to pick up every bit of yardage he could on the punt return looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out Arizona state has the ball back and the offense making its way onto the field David they couldn't pay off that last drive with a touchdown now they moved the ball down the field and executed like they wanted to until they stalled out and had to settle for a field goal I think if you want to take the next step two here and score a touchdown you got to start finding more creative ways to get your best players the ball let's see if they can do that here I know Defenders hate quarterbacks and love nothing more than hitting them but you're hitting yourself in the gut when you get a 15yd penalty unloads to the wide out wide open downfield he's brought down but he's got him inside the 10 first and goal from the Y there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a Little Closer grabbed behind the line it's mlan that throw and catch gets them down to the six and the defense is running out of answers we've got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break flips it out in the flag that completion will take it close to the 5 yd line they'll mark it at the six got to get to the line quickly for this third down play we've got a timeout in the waning seconds of the half maybe a chance to get off a couple more plays time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half they'll look to throw on Third and goal couldn't find anybody open just threw it away and that's a smart move you want to avoid the turnover especially in the Red Zone it'll be fourth down it's good and that was dead solid perfect [Applause] [Music] 1 so they get the late field goal right before the half and not much time after this kickoff for an answer let's see what he can get done from inside his own 15 they make the Stop and that is the end of the first half we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update guys who's got a better seat there today in 10p than you do and it's been said football is a game of inches and guess what based on the comparison between third down conversion rate today and the average yard per play how can you argue that I mean the low-lying fruit is to look at some of the explosive plays we've seen in panic but really this game is going to come down to which team is more efficient when they have the ball and how they play when it matters most with that said let's send it back to the guys at Mountain America Stadium all lined up and ready to go for a great second half ahead and he takes this from inside the five and the tackle is made on the return man but there is a flag on the play [Applause] return so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty a long way to go for this offense he'll pull it on the read and he fights his way forward gets away from one but not much doing on that one here comes the offense on second down give to the running back steam rolls his way ahead find's just a bit of room he'll pick up a couple to the 11 they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on Third and long he has to throw for it receiver looks it in it's complete coming out it's packing from deep in their own end and they're out at the 26 for the first down and the Sun Devils want to move quickly yeah when you run those drag routes it just takes a little bit of knoow and when I say that the receivers got to understand find Space my quarterback's going to find me he's looking for that space at the same time nice throw nice catch good run on the play and he slides to avoid the hit another he's going to pass fires to the big fella good pick up there as he gets the first down and they'll Mark him at the 48 the thund Devils come to the line with a new set of downs first down for the offense they'll go to the ground fights off a Defender he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple hit a little speed bump on this drive it's second and 12 from the gun the running back tries to hit the hole makes that one pay off and they finally get him down at the 38 it'll be first down quarterback and running back set up in the pistol going to the ground and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine eighth play of the drive coming up they've softened them up with the run now to throw it going to try to get it himself and they'll knock him down now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass moving keeping the eyes down field and the Freshman will CH up a sack and the offense sprung a big time leak and the quarterback went down and when you're throwing the football you're trying to stop the best athletes in the world from getting to your quarterback they're going to get there they're pinning their ears back get to the QB get the sack and the sundevils will putt this one away they'll look to pin him deep punt goes out of bounds and a really nice job as stick them deep in their own end they'll mark it around the 10 out of the gun the running back has it finds just a bit of room he'll pick up a couple to the 11 picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second [Applause] down caught behind the line it's brown they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down 1 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs first oh it's a reverse that play just never had a chance a knock him down for a loss of five they'll try to overcome that last play on second and 15 the give on the inside at the 35 he's loose and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good gain and the Cowboys are on the move they'll give it to him again not a whole lot of progress made there on the short run after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven leaves it with the back and they're able to shove him to the turf as they stop him for a short gain this defense will try to force a fourth down on Third and short from the 45 back to throw it's saota makes the catch and steps out of bounds but short of the first down Mark personal foul ring defense I bet it felt good to hit that quarterback late until you got an earful from the coach and cost your defense 15 they'll run it to the right and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three he's looking to throw makes the grab on the left he makes the tackle at the 23 yd line but not before a pick up of five and enough for the first down false start off the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty wide receiver shows motion for Jet Sweep pass they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks they'll line up for a second down play guys we have Wyoming on top as we reach the end of the quarter three quarters are in the book time becomes a factor both in trying to hold the lead or cut into it as we take a look at the stats one more period to go to see who can make the winning plays and come home with the Victory and here comes the offense on second down they'll run it out of the shotgun hard running there an attitude run as he's dragged down after a pick up of six down to the 14 Bo they love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal he finds his man he's there to make the stop but not before he sets up this offense first and goal from the seven wide receiver now comes in motion just going to keep it after the snap and he Sprints to the end zone touchdown Cowboy boy do they need that score gave them a little cushion as they try to put a stop to this two game Slide the offense strikes again to extend its lead here in the second half and they got everything working how great is this you extend your lead now you get your defense back on the field great job taking advantage of the situation and building on that lead lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is up and good and they have an 11-point fourth quarter lead we check in with Kevin Connor what's going on Kevin fellas I think at least a portion of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished up West Virginia dazzled in just about every phase of the game and for a program that's turned out Elite receivers from Tavon Austin to Stedman Bailey I think we may have just seen the next great one emerge the circle of life in college football where one team moves on feeling like kings and the other heads home licking its wounds and Kevin Conor is keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there runs through a tackle all the way out to the 38 yd line it's a gain of 15 I Jesse and Reese could call offensive plays for any team if they're having this much success on the ground it starts with the ground game right like you can chew up these kind of plays then I can play action later on and take shots but right now defense has first got to stop the run game that's been chewing them up one running back in the back field and he has it they make the stop but this running game moves to change as they get the first down man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out the sundevils have it with a first and [Applause] 10 out of the gun the inside G One Step W two steps squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground after picking up a couple at second and eight got him looking run he wants to throw got it in the middle it's scattero good solid pick up there now they can start to smell it with a first down at the 31 fast motion from the offense he wants to throw catch in the middle it's Smith you just got the feeling this defense is going to make it hard on them right they've got the lead it's late and they're going to try to tackle everybody in bounds offense is going to have to really work for this and be smart you got to attack the sidelines you got to throw first downs you got to keep this thing moving vertically down the field makes the grab and it's enough for the first down before he's dragged to the ground got his man in the middle they'll get it down to the 8 yd line on that throw and catch and the defense is backed up against the wall first and goal and this feels like their chance to give him a finish they'll try to get it in with the run and he is stopped immediately by the big defensive lineman defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming he'll run it up the middle trying to pick his way to the end zone he works his way all the way down to the three and the defense is reeling up thir they'll run it on Third and goal coralled and brought down by the defense and they'll run the field goal unit back out there this kicker has already banged a couple through it's [Music] good they'll kick it away after putting up a field goal on that last drive here he comes from inside his own five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 Wyoming takes over the football and the cowboy offense on its way out and now that cushion is a little bit smaller Jesse and any mistake would get magnified yeah a little bit of pressure now on this offense too David I think they got to go back to their play makers and get these guys going in the game no doubt find those plays those plays you know you can run them in your sleep you make sure you execute build this lead a little bit bigger put this thing away in the fourth quarter and the runner is down and so is a flag illegal block so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty looking for a productive play on first down they'll run it to keep the clock moving able to scr three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven clock continues to run and they'll be happy to wind it all the way down before they snap it he'll do it himself and they'll stop him after a minimal pickup it's third down now they ought to be able to get off one more play before the two-minute warning the give out of the gun and there were some collisions in there the D finally stops him short of the marker timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way excellent coverage that time didn't give him any room to set up a big return the offense set for a first down play first and 10 he's looking to throw it fires to the wide out and you just don't expect your Junior quarterback to get fooled and to throw it into double coverage like that on second down looking to throw and he can't find anyone open and down he goes a sack here late in the fourth they were trying to get the screen set up but it just took a a little too long to develop yeah and the quarterback's supposed to you know invite those guys to run up field on a screen pass but they got to him so fast he couldn't get rid of the football and they got the sack they'll hurry to the line here to try to get off that third down play looking to throw and he needs a bunch it's caught he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down ree you and I were talking about this before the game how how is this defense going to be able to deal with all the speed they have offensively you saw them just rip off a big play and Jesse now their head spinning he puts a lot of air under it down the sideline and it's knocked away downfield the DB getting a hand in there and the incompletion brings up a second down for this offense throws to the wide out and that's going to fall to the ground incomplete that was a physical match up there third down coming he wants to throw it again unloads to the wide out it's complete a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first down man this offense is so dangerous Rees they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels catch in the middle it's Smith he's brought down quickly minimal gain there a bit short of the first down on second down he'll let it fly he looks that one in nicely we've got a Timeout on the field a tight game in the fourth and the Brain Trust will go to work to the air on first down and that one's incomplete worth taking a shot there but couldn't hook up offense gets set for second down he's looking to throw unleashes one deep in the air and he's got it for the touchdown and now they're a two-point conversion away from locking it up stop it they got a chance to tie this thing man great job by this offense but the work is not done you knew what you needed when you started this drive late in this ball game time's running out it's not on your side I got to find my play my best two-point conversion to go tie this puppy up they want to see if they can score the deuce he barges his way into the end zone for the two and we are locked up here in the fourth here comes the kickoff as we are all tied up in the fourth quarter here's the return from inside is 10 really disciplin job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Wyoming has the football back and here comes the offense he wants to start this drive with a pass get it out on the screen didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short gain there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down to the air it's faot and it'll be incomplete this defense is physical in pass KN couldn't find his man last time and that leaves him with a third and six from the gun they'll try the middle he's able to find his way for a couple of yards but it'll be fourth down and three he will signal for the fair Catch and take it just inside the 35 so here comes our first play of [Music] overtime here's the handoff we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up got a little work done on first down now back to the line now the play fake gets it out fast he's run out of bounds but he's got enough to move the [Applause] sticks quarterback on the keeper discards a man going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone motion by the back forces the defense to adjust he wants it all touchdown Wyoming and they score first here and over Time Field shrinks tight end grows big targets big results I've never heard it put that way but you're dang right that guy is so big a lot of times you get a DB matched up on him he can just post him up a linebacker he can run by him so that's why these tight ends are so dangerous down here in this Red Zone the all important extra point would push this lead to seven and and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven that makes the score Wyoming 31a state 24 now on first down they need to answer with a touchdown they'll start this drive with a pass and the physical play there forces the incompletion on first down this offense has a second down play thisfire on the last play they'll go back to the air got his man he'll be stopped just short of the end zone but they'll have it first and goal first and goal down a touchdown they have to get it in the end zone got it didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few now the offense tries to punch it in on second and goal direct snap touchdown Arizona State they got the score now to see if they go for the win or the tie first off really impressed by how physical this guy is still running the ball this late in the game and now it's decision time you want to play it safe kick the extra point or are you feeling aggressive to go for two points and I think this is all about how you feel about your defense and how you feel about this game extending do do I have a chance do I have better players am I more fatigued like all this has to come into account because you got a chance right now with one play to win this football game and he made the extra point without problem one extra period didn't get it done and we start the second OT they'll ride the running back and leave it with him that one did not go well tackled in back field for a loss of six second down coming up [Applause] on the ground it's scbo pulled down after a pick up of four to the 27 and the last thing they need is to squander this great field position facing a third and long and the quarterback runs out of time and down he goes at the 38 looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out and the Sun Devils send out the punt unit three and out and not much choice but get rid of the [Applause] ball as they try to extend this game and force another overtime quick pass on the Fly motion still on his feet gets out of bounds after the big game but they've got it first and goal at y first [Applause] and they'll try to get it in with the Run he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three def defense rose up deep in its own end on that last play now a second
