NCCFL Dynasty: USF vs Florida Atlantic

spectacular ocean views not far away from the home of the Florida Atlantic owls FAU stadium in boa Raton Florida where they hope this game lives up to the setting today a clash between two teams from the Sunshine State that will resonate from day to Duvall as we'll see a team coming off a crucial by week the south Florida Bulls squaring off with another team from the AAC the Florida Atlantic owl for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis joined here in the booth by David poock and Jesse Palmer guys let's get this thing started fla Atlantic ready to kick it off and get this game started he'll bring it back from inside to spot and the returner is stopped the Bulls return team didn't help matters out much with that one and here he comes this offense is built completely around the talents of this running back a rare commodity in today's game and all eyes are on it and the defense knows it too you know every single snap this defense is going to be keying on this running back knowing that is the key to the offense's success they make the stop but the sweet growing catches plenty to give him a first down and that's why for the offensive coordinator you've got to find as many ways as possible to get this guy going just get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage doesn't need to be a throw deep down the field he's so Dynamic when he has the ball in his hands you saw it right there they've got the screen set up they make the stop but a good pick up there on first down there's a lot of different ways this offense can attack you throwing the ball one of them is getting the running back going and the screen is a great way to get him lathered up and get the defense starting to think about him a little bit more now and he gets it to the 45 yd line and that'll be a first down you know they Pride themselves on being physical at the point of attack dominating at the line of scrimmage nice job there picking up the first down and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball after the misfire now on second down Brown wants to pass receiver looks it in it's complete this is a very tough slot receiver to cover if you're a linebacker because of how quick and how Shifty he is you never seem to know which way he's going but he always seems to create an open space for his QB here on third down for this [Applause] offense off the RPO fire right trying to convert he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down and that's what I love about this offense you're not going to get all of your big chunk plays in the passing game by throwing it deep down the field you can kind of Dink and dunk on that RPO play they had it dialed up and set up to go to that player in the right flat nice job they want to just keep throwing it off the deflection missed a great chance to force the turnover instead it'll be second down well the cornerback wasn't fooled that time he was squatting on the out route and because of that he was able to transition break on the ball and knock it away let's see what they've got on second down fre Motion in the back field he's back to throw on second down he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play and a really nice job by the defense winning second think the quarterback thought he could dump this off maybe get some positive yards set up a good third down the defense did a great job responding and getting that running back on the ground he's loose touchdown South Florida and once he got loose it was all over well you know this offensive coordinator strips his opening 1015 plays and he didn't even need that they went nine plays and scor a touchdown everything working perfectly they look like a well oiled machine early in this game off and the P makes it seven nothing about to kick it off after punching it in for the [Applause] touchdown coming out with it it's Smith I know he thinks he can house every return but sometimes you just have to take a knee as he stopped at the 14 so the Ford Atlantic owls offense will take the field for the first time here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we have they'll put this one in play first snap of the drive from the 25 he wants to start this drive with a pass got it set up on the outside he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense plays like that put just a second of hesitation in the defense to make sure and they're able to take advantage here and they use the great timing with this call right like you can't call this play all the time but you want to catch them when they're a little bit aggressive not thinking about it nice job slipping the screen behind them making the easy catch and then getting downfield picking up some extra yards false start off so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty the offense set for a first down play the option look the pitch and they just didn't get anybody on that defense out of position and they will lose yardage on that one well the line showing you read and react he knew exactly where that running play was going and he beat the football to the line of scrimmage and forced the tfl all kinds of room to throw that one in there he almost picked up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit short and I think you're seeing these guys in every offense now these little guys that they're so quick it's hard to get a hand on them run Chris brouts you can throw it short you can throw it long but they're just big time Playmakers s an emphasis shift towards smaller wide receivers with some serious scill they make the Stop and that will likely bring us to the end of the first quarter we've come to the end of the quarter and USF is on top one period in the books and let's take a look at the stats and they've swapped ends of the field and we'll get it going in the second this offense is completely confident in their ability to get one yard they'll go for it on fourth down quarterback flips it aead quickly to the receiver how about that defense the missed 56y makes that stop even bigger now the offense has outstanding field position he leaves it with his back a confident tough efficient run gets it up to the 44 I like the decision there in the RPO game too guys I know only only got a couple of yards but that play is going to open up bigger opportunities throwing the football down the field in the RPO game too so keep handing it off to this guy let him see can do and when the defense gives you the look to hold the football and then finally throw it that's when you take advantage and they wrap him up but not before he gets off on the catch for the first down fresh set of downs after the completion On The Run it's Kei good pick up on that play it'll bring up second and four coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just thaty pick up on first down leaves him with second and four wide receiver coming across in motion quick pass on the Fly motion and they'll stop him just short of the first down just inches away from moving the sticks offense breaks the Huddle on third down they'll try to get the edge with the toss play here now they're really starting to threaten as they pick up the first down at the 34 yd line and that's a welcome s like this offense has really really struggled bottom 50 in college football in first downs so they'll take anything they can get nice third down conversion let's get some positive plays keep it third and short find a way to get this offense in an upward trajectory cuz so far this season they've really struggled he makes a stop but a nice pick up there on first down leaves him in second and management love the execution there in the screen the running back shows pass protect pass protect last second turns around so he's able to get the ball the D linan have already run past him now he can turn up field for a big Gainer off play action fires to the wide out got his man to the left and they make the connection and he's got it at the 10yd line set up with a red zone opportunity and the Bulls have it with a first and 10 he's looking to throw it grab behind the line it's keth Cris execution in the passing game and they've got it down to the three I want to get my running backs the ball in space as much as possible and sometimes it doesn't work in the running game but I can throw it to him I can try to create some space out wide dump him the football let him make some catches and see if I can't get some big plays out he's got it down to the one yd line right on the door P it's the two-minute warning and we'll see if the offense can tack a little something extra on their lead before the break they'd love to pick up this third down and get a fresh set with first and goal they move the tight end all [Applause] over to the ground to try to move the chains just hammer it with this running back again and he knowses his way into the end zone [Music] South Florida has it back and the Bulls offense will return to the field going up top on first down and the pressure gets to him down goes the quarterback and how about the defense getting home with the pass rush playing man coverage in the back end you need to win up front those guys got to get to the quarterback do a great job rushing the passer I can play when I got a pass rush like that we' got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break and a lot of times you want those big plays you want those Splash plays but sometimes you're going to take some losses you're not going to run the football overly well but if you continue to run it you can at least create some balance you at least have the threat of it otherwise you're just going to manand it it and now it's going be a passing game quick timeout by the defense there trying to make sure everyone has the same call [Applause] the offense failed to convert on fourth down earlier but that didn't change their thinking here he'll try to throw and pick up the first down makes the catch he's got enough fin way run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down that tells you a lot about their confidence in this quarterback fourth down early in the game on your own end and you go for it but when you make decisions and throws like that it's easy to see why with the catch it's ke the offense will have to use it first time out of the half guys out of the back field now it's not just run the ball downhill anymore you got to be versatile I got to be able to trust you in the pass game and I got to be able to throw you the football and you can do that right there I know you're going to catch it and I can depend on you grab near the sticks it's Smith he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down all right defense it ain't working they're stringing together several first downs here we're going to need to change this up find something we can disrupt the quarterback and and mess up this offense a little bit quarterback gets pass to marker they finally make the stop that's going to make those halime stats look a little bit nicer as we head to the break we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connor in our halftime update gentlemen looks like we've got a great atmosphere today in boa Ron and there is no better place to start this halftime than by reviewing how this wide out has been a Onan Wrecking Crew the kid's been everywhere and I love how he's willing to go across the middle but that he also has the Jets to burn these DBS on the Deep ball if this defense wants to actually come back in this one they better hide his cleats and with that let's send it back to the guys at Howard schnellenberger field all right Kevin about ready to start the second half [Applause] here he'll start the return inside his SP didn't Anye South Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field going with the ground game left follows a good block there picks up threes out to the nine and these rpos always put the defense in a bind but listen you give up the Run they get a short little gain no harm no foul got three on first down it's second and seven Brown will throw it firing to the right complete makes the grab and it's enough for the down before he's dragged to the ground and a great job by the QB finding the running back getting the football where he can do some damage after the catch and most importantly get the first down backed up at the 16 yd line it's first and 10 on the option now the pitch and they'll shove him out of bounds after the short game it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down after the productive first down play it's second and [Applause] six he's looking to throw caught in the back field it's Kei the defense wouldn't let him lose and even though it's in completion they lost yardage listen if I'm a QB second down I want to check the ball down and get a manageable third down but when this defense is flying around like this so fast out he got to that running back got him on the ground so fast the running back had nowhere to do well on third down they go to the running back screen they're able to get a couple of yards but not enough for the first what do they do this could absolutely spin this game in another Direction they're going for it inside their own [Applause] 30 makes a catch past the sticks well they just drained all the suspense out of the fourth down converion moving the chains easily the Bulls are moving quickly down the [Applause] field they'll throw it on first down coming after it hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver didn't connect last time let's see if they throw it again on second down Brown wants to pass gets it out quickly the defense has their hands trying to stop this guy in the slot they're going to have to figure something out to bracket him try and get two bodies around and maybe get some safety help as well cuz right now they do not have the answer for this guy the receivers often will run their route based on a side adjustment they're trying to get to it he took a hit as he FW it and couldn't deliver the football it's incomplete and fourth Down's coming and that's a play on third down this offense just has to do a better job protecting their quarterb give Split Second more time to complete that throw they couldn't do it though there is nothing to gain by kicking it away in this area of the field around Midfield going for it the wise move complete out of the back field still on his feet at the 45 and he'll be run out of bounds and these guys are piling up some serious yardage total really good job there don't force anything take your time and he finds his man for the first down yeah I think really good job by seeing the defense understand that they're dropping back they're taking away most things all right get the ball to my running back he can make plays after he catches it nice job by the quarterback seeing the situation and where to go with the football they bring him down he's got a first down but that might be the final play of the third quarter we've come to the end of the quarter and USF is on top let's take a quick look at the national rankings to see how this playoff race is shaping up one more period to go to see who can make the winning plays and come home with the victory back at it to open the quarter with this first down Play Motion trying to get the defense to show his hand pulls it in touchdown BS made the snag and strolled his way into the end zone they push out this lead in the fourth quarter and it might be enough to give them South Florida has it back and the Bulls offense will return to the field and now that cushion is a little bit smaller Jesse and any mistake would get magnified yeah little bit of pressure now on this offense too David I think got to go back to their Playmakers and get these guys going in the game no doubt find those plays those plays you know you can run them in your sleep you make sure you execute build this lead a little bit bigger put this thing away in the fourth quarter they'll run the screen and it's pretty obvious there was a big hole in that screen and the defense ran right through it those screen passes I want those defensive lineman to run right up the field and I want to throw it right over their head where I got some space and I can get my running back going that is the opposite of what happened right there there was no space he couldn't even get going catch in the middle it's Smith and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down an offense has practice this situation this is 4minute offense you've got the lead late in the game they're trying to bleed the clock and just get first downs they do that they stay in bounds and the clock keeps ticking he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and this defense is got to make a play right it's the fourth quarter we're trailing you know this offense they're going to get conservative they want to eat that clock You' got to bring more guys to the level and they got him for the sack oh that's a missed opportunity you know the quarterback was excited he saw man coverage he thought he was going to have an opportunity to come up with a big play but up front they could not protect him well enough certain moments in the game you know we're just a little bit bigger here's one of them big play coming on Third and long moves around to clear up the vision find space on the right and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker he just didn't have a chance to get loose and make his way to that first down marker I think fans get upset sometimes like run your route past the sticks so we get the first down but nice job by the defense understanding where the sticks were and forceing the fourth South Florida ready to send the offense back onto the field they hope to be able to cash in on this drive David after having to punt it last time yeah and I think this offense needs to start it with the first play you need to be successful and productive on that first play and it gets you in less predictable situations no doubt too and don't you just feel like there's a little bit more sense of urgency on this drive it just feels like they've got to be able to put some points up on the board here he'll try it again on second and 10 nowhere to go and the ball is loose and what a fortuitous turn of events to get that football back he's trying to get them sick quickly they have to get the ball into field goal range they get the timeout called 11 seconds remaining to play got to move quickly here they need to get it to field goal range on Third and long he'll need to loosen up that arm B to grab the 25 and there's room touchdown balls and they've got the lead in the final minute man what a great it's one thing to execute early in the game tight ball game right at the end you need the clutch plays these guys deliver and you can't teach that Gene you have people that that can focus in the moment or they can't great job by the team staying focused understanding it's a close battle win those one play at a time and then look up and then heck I got the win yeah David they just had ice in their veins and you can tell there's tremendous leadership on this football team guys can step up and in the Huddle they can make sure that everybody else is focused to the task at hand in
