Vikings which obviously I'm going to be doing so make sure you guys are looking out for the NFC North report where I watch the game so you don't have to trying to to have the Lions fans be well informed so when we talking about the game we don't have to seem like slappies right we want to be able to tell you hey the Bears suck and this is why they suck or hey the the Vikings and the Packers suck and this is why they suck however there may be some things that you see that make you go that guy's a good player and we're going to have to watch out for him or or that group is a good group and we're going to have to watch out for them when we play them so you know leading up to the games whenever we play the Bears or the Packers or the Vikings we have informed information okay we can be a wealth of knowledge when we're coming into the games and it helps you to talk more smack when you're talking to the Bears fans or the Packers fans or the Vikings fans and they'll be like man how are you so informed about what's going on around the NFC North and you can just say well Chef give the NC North report every week um yeah I heard I heard that how how do you win a game so Bleacher Report propped him up and they were like oh the first uh first overall quarterback pick to win his debut game since 20 uh 2002 and then you go well he was 50% passing for 92 two yards and there were zero offensive touchdowns um so defense and special teams truly carried Caleb Williams I mean that's the assessment um just from looking around you know just from being on Twitter just from from doing these things but um yeah for for all what would you call it uh by all appearances he he didn't do much he did not do much at all all right let's see if I can now connect this audio Jess fan what's up defense was not impressive against the Titans to me um well I did see the two will Levis interceptions the one interception was just uh the pick six that put them up I I didn't I didn't understand that one uh I was trying to figure out what exactly will Levis was doing but it's will Levis I mean you know if you're if you are counting on him to be great and think you need say learn how to count again that's um okay so put all the ingredients in a in a Crock poot and use the tortilla chips to eat it with okay so the I got you I got you all right let's turn that off uh this is terrible I'm G to have to try it I'm going to have to try it it's like a it's it's kind of like a nacho situation Jess fan says bears were gifted that game yes will Levis wrapped it up in a nice little bow and was away with playing like that next week um I mean so the only caveat that we can take away from all of these games is that it is week one and teams will get better uh some teams will stay the same and some teams will get worse uh as we see the Bengals were upset by the um by the Patriots uh I told everybody before I was not a believer in the Bengals but again it is week one so just kind of a a grain assault type of situation before we celebrate too hard about the demise of the Bengals uh if you saw it was one there was one show that I did and I was talking about the um the Bengals being on a list of teams that was supposed to be um what do you call it they were supposed to be able to kind of Dethrone or get in the way of the um Chiefs and their threee but I didn't think the Bingo should be on that list I didn't think they should be on that list at all I'm glad that they're show they're actually showing um they're showing the pregame stuff because usually on like Game Pass you don't get the pregame stuff but I'm guessing because it's uh Sunday Night Football that's why it's there we got Aman Ros St Brown once again BD Buster the final injury report um it did come out oh I love when they show bar Sanders all right so the inactives for week one all right the Detroit Lions will open the 2024 season by welcoming the Los Angeles Rams and former allons quarterback Matthew Stafford to forward field for a rematch of a wildcard round game in last year's playoffs blahy blah blah we already know all that so Detroit's inactives for week one versus the Rams Lauren Strickland um yeah this is not the total list let me find the total list okay so James Houston is inactive uh all right let's look at a key matchup Lions Rams key matchup Quinton Lake versus almond R st Brown um so almond R st Brown and the Detroit Lions are at match made in heaven through hard work determination and plenty of extra time with the jugs machine after practice St Brown drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 draft has morphed into one of the NFL's very best receivers he continuously made strides since joining the Lions most notably increasing the statistical output each season blot blah blah blah we already know that about the uh about St Brown all right so Lake a third-year pro is a versatile Defender who's able to play multiple positions including safety nickel corner and dime linebacker on third down in 2023 the UCLA product suited up for 14 games made four starts and recorded 53 total tackles six passes defense and a fumble recovery plus he posted a 96.3 passer rating against and earned a 71.2 overall grade including a 68 uh coverage grade from Pro Football Focus so if you're allowing a 96.3 passer rating against that's not great you know that's not great but it's you know they want you to get a sub 90 right they they want you to get sub 90 so it was not sub 90 was all uh it was 96.3 uh and we know that um Lake isn't like a lock down offender or anything so here it says although he permitted just the one reception it was an important one for St Brown um and the Lions it came on a second and nine at the twom minute warning in the fourth quarter and effectively iced the game for Detroit eight months later Lake hasn't forgotten it he says I kept that play In My Memory Bank Lake to Rams reporter is Friday uh let's see in the highlights of this this uh Miami Jacksonville game all right so that's done all right I believe Lake will be leaving fortfield Sunday night with some bad memories once again I have St Brown torching Lake and his Rams week after sitting out all of the SE offseason in training camp rehabing quir injury is inactive and won't play tonight for the Lions as they kick off the regular season hosting the Los Angeles Rams at Ford Field on Sunday Night Football readers was one of Detroit's big free agent acquisitions this off season so yes reader is inactive um let's see who else is [Music] inactive I'm excited to see margus Davenport dude um I just hope he stays healthy Lawrence Strickland is ruled out uh if yatu malanu is doubtful so both are inactive today also inactive Sunday for the Lions Edge rusher James expect for them for for there to be a little bit of rusp plus this is a new team for him so obviously he has to learn his receivers um during games it's different when you're learning them during to make someone else beat you um but you know it's just the way in which they do it this is what I'm excited to see because we feel like we have two corners that will be matched up against those two wide receivers that can lock them down we've heard how sticky terion Arnold's coverage is and has been uh throughout the offseason training camp um not offseason but throughout training camp and the preseason obviously um he had limited action against the uh Giants and he was on Malik neighbors and Malik neighbors got no targets now I understand that Drew lock was the quarterback however he still got no targets so Drew lock who's not a great quarterback who will throw you interceptions didn't feel comfortable trying to uh sneak the ball over to Arnold's way so you know that is what that is so I think I think cup and Thea will be kind of uh we hope they'll be neutralized I wouldn't expect it so here's my question to you Brett if Cup and the co are gonna have big games just like last year in the playoffs then what is the Improvement that was made in our secondary that's my question sou Deport you talking about uh n and cup oh big games compared to the rest of the Rams okay but if you've got a if you my thing is if you've got a secondary that's supposed to be much much much improved over last year's secondary then it's it's got to [Music] be you got to make an early statement you got to lock down these two receivers you can't let them get loose you need other people to beat you I'm going to take the over man if this offensive line is as weak as we think that it can be I mean obviously they're going to try to scheme this is why we need to see DJ reader man obviously he's going to be Ina he's inactive but obviously they're going to try to scheme Hutch out of the game um but hopefully Davenport gets through this game and is completely healthy you can you can scheme Hutch out all you want you know to your you know to your downfall Atlanta and uh and the Steelers playoffs going to blow things blow things open for us a lot this season uh James will is in is is active so if they you know whatever the scheme calls for um they'll probably look to get him on the field some come on just a fan game number one I'm G tell you what j a fan AG is not getting fired during the season um and everyone expects for this defense to be much improved so I don't think the ultimate put up or shut up game is week number one I don't think it is for anyone even Caleb Williams this was not the ultimate put up or shut up game n g week one is not where you dig that J momy reader is inactive so he won't be out there at all and then remember I mean if he's if if reader is out there on plays which are perceived to be running plays which is first and second down there's a lot of teams will pass on first down a lot of teams will pass on second down so it's going to be there Brett Williams just a fan is just not a fan of AG so I get where I get I get the the comment because he's not a fan of AG but it is not it is not no it is not a put up or shut up game for anyone AG hasn't made excuses for three years AG hasn't had anyone to play with for three years you want to see we all want to see a killer all we all want to see a killer defense but um we still have to realize that they didn't play together you know everybody everybody Miss some time and all these things so we have to remember those things here's Johnny says it's like the same old downcast NFL teams Cleveland Titans Panthers Etc the Panthers are going to be bad for a while um now they actually could turn some things around I fully expect them to have the number one pick again uh remember they didn't have their their draft pick this year and that went to the um the Cardinals um as they moved up to be able to draft Bryce young now when they possibly go 0 and 17 there's the I don't think they're going to win more than two games this year um ESP especially within their division I don't think they're going to win any games so if they're if they're two and 15 or whatever um similar to last year they'll have the number one pick again um and if they're handing out bags like candy and the um I I don't imagine that their their salary cap situation is poor because they don't have any players that they're paying they let Brian Burns go um so they could turn it around next season this season no it's Rams rushing kyen Williams was 18 carries for 50 yards in a touchdown his long was nine Ronnie Rivers was two for 16 long 12 Cooper cup was 2 for 10 long nine pukan AA was 1 for seven and obviously his long was seven so all in all it was 23 carries 83 yards and a touchdown um so of course they did not crack 100 yards but you know who did crack 100 yards the Detroit Lions David Montgomery 17 carries 91 yards and a touchdown long of 21 jir Gibbs 11 carries 40 yards and a touchdown long of eight jamson Williams one carry 13 yards khif Raymond one carry 12 yards jerk G one carry seven yards 31 carries 163 yards two touchdowns and a long of 21 yards Los Angeles Rams receiving Cooper Cup 14 for 110 uh one touchdown long of 21 he had 21 targets Tyler J Jack uh Johnson five for seven 79 yards no touchdowns 63 was his long seven targets Kobe Parkinson four for for four for 47 uh long of 20 five targets Demarcus Robinson four for 42 long of 14 seven targets pukan AOA four for 43 uh for 35 long of 16 four targets so pugan AA caught everything that was thrown to him so I guess it was okay that for us that he couldn't finish that game all right Kyon Williams three for four yards uh his long was eight so that means he lost yards on one of them uh and he had three targets Davis Allen did not have a catch and he had one target Detroit Lions receiving Jameson Williams five receptions 121 yards one touchdown long of 52 nine targets Sam La pora 4 for 45 18 was his long five targets jir Gibbs four for 34 14 was his long six targets Aman R st Brown three for 13 three receptions 13 positive Jameson Williams his first 100 yard receiving game uh it was 121 yards on five receptions this is what Jamon Williams offers our offense on his long touchdown Which was 52 yards uh the Los Angeles Rams decided now I said decided because I said that this was going to be a pick your poison type of game and they needed to make decisions and they decided that they would leave travius W white one-on-one with Jameson Williams doing that didn't make a lot of sense and they paid for it and they paid for it dearly with a 52 yard touchdown Jameson Williams was so open on that play that GF under thre Jameson Williams he turned around and caught the ball and was still five yards past travius white while turning around catching the ball he had him beat by five yards okay Jameson Williams was so fast that he had an NFL Defender man on man it wasn't a busted coverage it was it man on man he had him beat by five yards all right so the defense the defense wasn't great um it started off good in the first half in the second half for whatever reason they just started playing a lot more uh Zone coverage they started off in the from the first drive playing a lot of man coverage and then they just there was a lot of Zone going on I I mean I understand Cooper cup is dangerous and all these things but he still ate up your zone right 110 yards but at the end of the day it did not matter it did not matter because the Detroit Lions pulled it out 26 to 20 sending Matthew Stafford Kelly Stafford and their kids all the way home now guess what I'm waiting for in Matthew Stafford's postgame press conference nothing CU we're on to Tampa Bay this game is over this game is over and if we're looking at our NFC north stock report the Detroit Lions the Bears and the Minnesota Vikings are tied for first place with the Packers being solely alone in last place that's right the Packers were the only G were the only team in the NFC North to drop their opening game uh what else do we want to touch on let's let's let's just get some conver conversations going on with the chat man um W that was a game bro that was a game Brent says hey everyone one down 16 more to go uh salty Pork Shop says too what did he do the defense had their opportunities Brian Branch had the opportunity to pick off three passes um yeah he had the opportunity to pick off three passes one of them he tried to jump it but missed it and Cooper cup was able to catch it along the sideline and go right out of bounds the other one uh it was a pass breakup as he was able to get a hand on it uh and I think there was one over the middle that he dropped if I if I remember correctly uh Carlton Davis we all know what Carlton Davis did he dropped that thing and uh I don't know if if he's if he was evaluated for concussion or anything but I do know um that the defense had the makings the defense showed some flashes and they're only going to get better they're going to go back and look at the tape and they're going to be able to understand what they need to clean up um they need to do something with that field there was a lot of slipping going on out there uh on that last touchdown that Cooper CB scored um Caron Davis slipped during the pre- snap motion so he was wide open you know that's not really on Carlton Davis I don't know what was going on Jamir Gibbs slipped I'm R st Brown slipped Caron Davis slip just seemed like everyone was slipping out there so they need to do something maybe this is a little bit too much lacquer on the field uh they need to rough it up a little bit more I don't know secondary made some plays despite the youth Arnold has to turn turn the heat the turn the head and anzelone in the o line uh anzelone was was a man possessed out there he was a man on the mission he know if everything goes the same way you know what I mean like if they did if they got a touchdown there then what happens next I don't know but all I know is they came out on fire um in overtime marched right down the field bullied their way into endzone Troy Weider got trucked as Monty uh went over the the goal line there so I'm happy with it 100% happy with it Jack Campbell made some stops yes morale ter tertio he did make some stops look look like I said the Rams came in with a plan to beat us on the arm of Stafford you would think that any other team that has the offensive line problems that they had that they would try to eliminate some of the pressure on the quarterback they would try to alleviate some of the pressure and then there were two injuries a went down Jonah Jackson had to kick back the guard then they brought the rookie in at Center Jonah Jackson wasn't doing great at Center and I didn't think that he would I think not boom was not boom out for the game or yeah was he out for the game after his ankle did he come back in I didn't see if he did or not but I know he had to leave the game so you would think that at some point run the football um I don't know how I I don't know how Kiren Williams rush for 50 yards I mean 18 carries on 50 yards is not a lot I mean yeah 18 carries for 50 yards is not not a lot but I watching the game didn't really see him pick up too much um I did I do think he had one long run let's see no his long was nine so again I I I I didn't see how he he rushed for 50 yards but that's what the stats say y My Stream is way [Laughter] behind I was looking at my stream d was on a uper light's commercial J Mo won me 65 bucks today uh I suppose you wanton a lot of people to money today because if you didn't think you could do it if you thought it was just a bunch of fluff pieces coming out about J Mo he got Unleashed today to the tune of 121 yards on just five receptions on just five receptions now the thing what this offense is going to have to to figure out is the proper balance um they still went for for 163 today Monty had 91 yards Gibbs had 40 so they're they're still going to have to figure out the proper balance now that J MO is acclimated into this offense you want to get him his touches you want to get Sam laapa his touches you want to get R st Brown his touches um khif Raymond is going to be good for a couple touches a game so you got a lot of miles to feed and I still think that you know now that they do have all those miles to feed now that it's not just Aman ra and leaport uh I I think it's it's kind of a little bit more difficult than we think to kind of work everyone in and to have a cohesive game plan that gets everyone involved and and I think that's what Ben Johnson's going to be looking to do throughout this season because when everyone is invol involved then you have a true pick your poison type of offense uh as we saw with travius white being left alone on Jamon Williams yeah Rusty first game he does need to do more but again it's just it's figuring out the balance is figuring out the bout like look at the look at the Texans they're going to have to do that for the entire season make sure that Stefan Diggs gets the football because if he doesn't he's GNA start pouting he's going to cause problems in the in the locker room um there's going to be a rift between him and CJ stoud and all these things now if you go back to to Buffalo Josh Allen loved Stefan digs and Stefan Diggs was throwing him under the bus like they had an a relationship on and off the field so you know Stefan Diggs will not stop at anything to make himself look like the good guy and the guy poor me I'm not getting the targets that I want so that's a that's a situation to keep an eye on because I believe that all it takes is one bad game and he's going to rip that he's going to rip that locker room apart yes very excited to see reader very excited to see reader because Hutch could have got home man he could have got home multiple times uh and he was just you know either he had his hand on on Stafford or he was right in his face and Stafford was getting the thing out very quickly so I was encouraged by the pressure that our our line was putting on them they just weren't getting home um but when you pressure and you've got good coverage then you're going to cause mistakes and Matthew Stafford made multiple mistakes but we couldn't make him pay for it except for once now I only saw Kirby make one appearance and that's because Stafford Tried Him and I think he went back to not trying him anymore so he tried it it didn't work I told Stafford before the game I told in the week leading up to the game try Kirby if you want to but it's not going to end the where end end too well for you so all right guys do we have anything else that we want to talk about I know will is on his way to talk about the game with you guys I have been on for what like four and a half hours now um so let's see who thinks in this game with Stafford as our QB we would have won well so it depends on who he threw that pick to that's what it depends on or who he tried to throw the pick to he tried to throw it to Carlton Davis he tried that it just didn't work out that way you know yep almost had three you know so now if if we flip it are the Rams defensive backs better at catching well maybe not Kobe Durant dropped one that was in his hands I think that was more egregious than the the Caron Davis one because it was in his grasp Carlon Davis he Dove for it after slipping and it hit him in the chest I don't think anything was up with Aman ra Luke probably when we go back and watch the film we'll probably see that he had you know bracket coverage and it was a situation where they were like this guy's not going to beat us you're going to have to beat us with somebody else and that was evidenced by seeing j Mo one-on-one with trevius white which ended up in a 52 yard touchdown you know if teams want to do that all year they can and it's going to suck for Aman Ra's stats but this is going to allow us to win football games Brandon her says Stafford never built a team up he needed a readymade team I can see that I definitely can see that I'm just checking my guess who the player of the game was Jameson Williams five catches 143 total yards in a touchdown any J moers left just take a peak five catches six touches that man had six touches and was seven yards shy of 15 50 yards six touches all right uh Brandon it is 2:8 p.m. it is 2:8 p.m. I've been on since 900 [Laughter] a.m. we started we started this stream at 90 9 a.m. to uh you know to get ready to talk about actives and inactives and expectations for the game and all this other stuff then we then we did the whole game together um and now like I said I'm probably we going to go ahead and hop off um I know will should be coming on if he's not on already does anybody know has he gotten on yeah I think he has all right guys I am going to go ahead hop off um we will talk to you later um man great win a win is a win is a win is a win it was an ugly one in the beginning it started off great uh you we had some highs and lows there we scored a touchdown in the third quarter so so it wasn't all bad uh so hopefully we can clean up the things that we need to clean up uh but this is a good football team this is a good roster um and we have all the makings of a Super Bowl Contender we just need to clean some things up uh and as we have more time on task together as the secondary plays together more um I didn't think there were too many miscommunications so I thought overall uh it was it was decent right it was decent a decent output for a secondary that hadn't played together ever you know not really just a little bit in training camp you know you had injuries here and there you have people missing time here and there so this was really the first extensive look that we had of the new defense the new secondary playing together and I think the returns were positive um they were put in some difficult situations difficult positions um you know playing that zone coverage but all in all I thought it was it was great so I appreciate you Mr morale tortino and as I said we will see you guys later I am back on with um the all grip pod what is it Wednesday so
