return team certainly didn't do the offense any favors there and there he is to this team's fans he is a heroic figure he is the guy who can lead them to the promised land this guy has been in big games in big moments and he's delivered for his football team it never seems like a situation is just too big for him this obviously is a huge game I cannot wait to see this guy compete and they're able to force him out of bounds after a short pickup and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knockbacks and limiting his carries looking to throw it's Morton quarterback now breaking the field he fires back across the field and it's intercepted and they capitalize not only on the pick but on the great return to improve this field position it's a defense that Prides themselves on taking the football away they believe they could impact this game with turnovers and they get an interception on the opening drive wasn't a big return turn but that doesn't matter they stole a possession that is huge for their [Music] confidence well this is just the type of field position this offense wants trying to find his man on first down pulls it in in the end zone touchdown Oregon state that is exactly what most offenses will do big momentum play my defense creates a turnover I'm being aggressive I'm going for the big score the big play down the field and they get rewarded they get the big passing touchdown and they pick up the extra point kicker knocked it right down the middle about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and he's going to bring it out of the end zone gets it across the 20 to the 21 and not quite what he would have picked up just taking the touch back Texas Tech ready to send the offense back onto the field after that last pick David they really need to take care of the ball this time no doubt and Palmer I want to know what Spurrier said to you on the sideline after a pick do that again and you'll be right here beside me for the rest of the game you got to go out you got to call your plays and I hope this coaching staff isn't going to be afraid to throw at this drive that's about as close as you can get to that marker and it will be second and just a few breaths away from the first down less than a yard to go to pick up the first down and he's got enough for the first down it'll be at the 35 all right nothing flashy there he just did what it took to get the first down ball is at the 35 it's first and [Applause] 10 from the gun running back gets to [Applause] give and he'll step across the sideline after making a good gain on that one well it's plays like that that will help this offense stay in Rhythm all game long if you can have that kind of success on first down running the football it just opens up your entire Playbook moving forward out of the gun they give to the back they'll stop him at the 46 after a 5yd pickup well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running play and they get just enough to keep the drive alive give to the running back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one they're trying to run the football there's just nowhere to go for the ball carrier inside he tried to bounce it to the outside that linebacker way too fast he met him there and forced the TFA [Applause] receivers telling the quarterback what they [Applause] see now he's looking to throw it slings it complete downfield there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down the Red Raiders come to the line with a new set of downs [Applause] from the gun the ground game really nice stop there from this senior leader I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs didn't get much on first down it's second and nine [Applause] back to throw it's Morton finds his tight end he will step out of bounds but not before the big pickup and a first down for this offense ever since they invented the forward pass the tight ends have been running the drag and getting the first down I think it's because the tight ends so much versatility you know they can block and stay in the formation or they can release and come out but either way if the quarterback's patient most of the time that drag route's going to come over looking for a gap it's Valdez and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that and I can't tell you how much I love seeing Corners being willing to come up and tackle that is so huge for a defense you can't Olay blocks and create space you can't just hang out on the outside you got to go set that edge and conversely I can't tell you how much I hate it when receivers don't want to block you got to do a better job on the perimeter it's not going to be enough in this offense just to catch passes you got to go execute your assignment that corner should have been blocked they should have gotten a bigger gain on that outside run they've moved it to the 25 but now facing a third and long [Applause] quarterback reacting to what the D is [Applause] showing on third down he drops to throw he's got the back in the middle and how about that catch and run so dangerous this guy and the Red Raiders are threatening on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and he Sprints to the end zone touchdown Red Raiders and this running back is so dangerous down close to the end zone he's got wiggle he's got great vision and burst and he show all of those attributes right there get man covered you got to find a way to get a step make it easy for your quarterback to read that leverage and when he drags across the field he could see had him he completes it hit the afterburners kid defense on skates that time they finally dragged him down at the 42 they used the chunk PL across Midfield and they've got it first and 10 just outside the 40 he'll keep it himself they pick up half of it it'll be second and five well tell you what just watching this QB in the Run game he's going to break one at some point in this game he is going to break a home run defense did a nice job getting him down there but this guy I'm telling you he's just a play away from taking it to the house keep letting this guy do his thing motion by the back forces the defense to adjust makes the grab on the left excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down and the Beavers are moving quickly down the field wide receiver now comes in motion quarterback keeps it keeps the legs moving head to the end zone touchdown beever he ran through tackles like water through a SI and that's why this offense loves these design quarterback runs they're just trying to scheme way to allow this guy to get into second level of Def cuz they know if he gets there he can make people Miss he can hit the Jets and he's [Music] [Applause] gone and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven a very efficient five Place score in drive and the score came on an impressive run from the 20 about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown and here's the return really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Texas Tech has it back and the Red Raider offense on its way to the field and David how they would love to stick it in the end zone one more time after that last drive and once you get the defense on their heels and you back them off a little bit you get in a little bit of Rhythm it's really hard to stop Jesse and they're going to try to do it again right here and if you're this play caller you're loving what's happening right now because everything you dialed up on that last Drive ended up working out you're just looking at your play sheet everything you're picking is working let's see if they can pull it off again here they've gotten this thing up and running fast back and forth we're inside a minute to play in the first [Applause] the play action fake took a shot as he threw nowhere close on that one as he got thrilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down now this offense tries to figure out a way to move the chains after the second down misfire quarterback checking the play back to throw it's Morton looking left and it's intercepted a turnover for the defense and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception not only a great play but tremendous discipline by this sophomore to make the pick Oregon state has it back and here comes the beaver offense he's got his man they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down and that's the looking man coverage you can throw the hitch route against right when the receivers got a little bit of access so he's got some room to work with against press you're risking a pick six so good decision there by the Q knowing that was a good look to fires toward the end zone and that one's way too far for everybody was incomplete but I'm okay with it if I'm the offensive coordinate I'm going to keep taking shots down the field I'm going to make him honor that deep ball I'll hit some of those before the game's over final play of the quarter coming [Applause] grab a quick completion to the left looking for the first down he's brought down but he's got him inside the 10 first and goal from the e we've reached the end of the quarter and Oregon state has the lead guys let's have a look at the stats as we've played one [Applause] period they'd love to start this quarter off with a touchdown right here a first down run in the red zone and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening and the D deny them on second and [Applause] goal he's looking to throw reels it in in the end zone touchdown Oregon State nice drive nice touchdown I love this offense's response to what happened a week ago listen we're 0 and one so be it let's put the Bo on the gas let move forward get better and they have in game two so far almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Texas Tech ready to send the offense back onto the field this is when the pressure can ramp up a little bit on an offense David when they start feeling the heat looking for a deep man and that one Falls incomplete they tried to go over the top on first down second down coming up couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again [Applause] quarterback checking off looking for a man it's Morton throws to the wide out reacted well to the tip it just couldn't squeeze the football instead of the turn over it'll be third down they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here [Applause] on Third and long trying to have a big completion here it's caught that's the kind of play that can really get you going as they get it out to the 36 the Red Raiders moving quickly to the line well look that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the qu back getting through his [Applause] progression wants to throw on first down b a little time lets it Go the quick out and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there well it's important in this game this offense gets the running back involved out on the perimeter in space where we can do some damage that time they got it to him throwing the football picked up a couple of yards but it gives the defense something to think about on second down he's looking downfield and the quick shuffle pass and they wrap him up but not before he's got enough for the first down and the Red Raiders are on the Move nice job by the running back catching the football and understanding where the first down marker was I got to go get that first down did a nice job of it off play action on first down and they got him he'll get him down for the sack playaction past success has a lot to do with selling that play you could tell the defense was not buying it got in the back field got the big [Applause] play quarterback will Audible [Applause] looking downfield it's Morton unloads to the wide out got him downfield stumbled to the ground they've been able to control the ball this is the seventh play of the drive it's third and [Applause] three they'll try to get it through the air quick strike complete the Red Raiders get up for the first down here comes the hurry up and on that third and short I don't think he was unhappy to see that zone nope it's a great job by the offense hey see where the holes in the zone are sit down you only need a little bit of yards on this third down get the conversion move the sticks [Applause] the offense waste no time getting the timeout call time out Tas and the Red Raiders getting set on First and 10 he wants to throw under heat he gets rid of it does couldn't find an open man he'll get rid of it and it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it [Applause] again they keep attacking through the air and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack they'll tell you that somebody's always going to pop open but it didn't happen in time before they got the sack no it did not and you know what I'm going to remember this I'm going to remember zone defense they didn't really have an answer they weren't ready to get rid of the football quarterback hesitated I got to him and got him on the ground might be a good call later on in the game now the quarterback changing the original play call on Third and long he's going to have to turn one loose downfield and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down his defense is heating up they got an interception the last possession you can tell breaking on the football really really well seeing where the quarterbacks throwing it going to try to get it got another hand on it almost had another interception [Applause] on fourth down going to the air [Music] [Music] welcome to cor valis Oregon reserch Stadium home to the beavers and you better get used to to the sou of chainsaws as the fans here been ready for this Clash since early this morning fielded In The End Zone it's Hudson rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the 13 so Texas Tech will have some work to do after that short return and here's the man they'll try to feed the football to no matter what the coverage looks like Jesse he's their best player on offense and I like the way this coaching staff moves him around and tries to create good matchups to take advantage of David and that makes it so hard to defend when a receiver lines up in the same spot every time I can bring extra coverage man use this guy all over the field as a weapon of mass destruction and here comes the offense on second down quarterback making adjustments with his receivers [Applause] wants to throw it's [Applause] Morton and that's going to be incomplete a lot of contact on the play but no Flags it'll be third down if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum yeah and you use these running backs so much in the p in game now and you expect him to make those plays for you to make those big explosive plays out of the back field just got to make sure he concentrates and see that ball come in makes the grab a quick tackle made but he's got plenty for the first down the Red Raiders come to the line with a fresh set of downs they're going to throw it again fires to the wide out he's got an open man and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up and the Red Raiders want to pick up the [Applause] tempo they'll throw it on first down that's reeled in it's bz really good surge for this offense they move the chains and he's got it at the 34 it's a first and 10 he's looking to throw it and he was hit just as he was releasing the pass and it falls to the ground incomplete after the quarterback and re receiver couldn't connect it's second and 10 quarterback changing the plays at the [Applause] line looking downfield it's Morton he lets it Fly and he's on his way he'll go all the way touchdown Red Raiders you want to talk about a great way to start the game and set the tone early it's so nice to have a quarterback just get himself into the game and get himself established you make a couple throws you lead your offense down the field you score right off the bat could not have been a better start for that QB he'll try to tack on one more and with the EXT point they get the first seven of the game lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 the Beavers offense taking the field first chance we have to see them today as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in big games like this now after the short completion it's second [Applause] down going to run it it's ankerson he maybe gets a yard they'll mark it him at the 29 you know runs like this often times are like a boxer in a boxing match obviously it's not a knockout punch but these are body blows and as the game goes on these small gains are going to turn into longer runs Ball's at the 29 defense can taste getting off the field it's third and long nice job to get it past the sticks and they get him down at the 35 and now on first down after converting with the Run looking to move it through the air and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again from the gun the running back looking for room cre good effort on that one to work his way up to the 42 listen you you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive gain making your situation really good on the next down oh they really could have used that catch their physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down defense did a great job third and short on the opponent side of the field they're expecting quick throw everybody they dug their heel on the ground they're able to break on the ball Force the incompletion the Beavers decide to pun it away away first time we've seen their punt team this afternoon and you make the Stop and that is exactly what you want out of your punt cover unit Texas Tech has it back and the Red Raider offense on its way to the field David they' love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well Palmer they execute and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well and I'd love to see that here on the next drive too just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their heels the receivers often will run their route based on a side adjustment scanning the field it's Morton got the Quick Pass he's close to the first down but they're going to Mark him just a little short well he comes up with the reception but not a lot of room to run after that yeah and I like the QB doing this I mean I'm going to find ways to give him the football and see if he can make a miss and I'm going to bet most of the time that my guy is a little bit more athletic than that defensive guy defense won this battle but I like trying to get this guy the ball in Space the Red Raiders will snap it on First and 10 one running back in the back field and he hasn't a collision and he stopped at the 27 after picking up one and you want to run the football that's okay you'll take some of these but if they start to add up down the road obviously you might want to think about airing out a little [Applause] bit he wants to throw here on second down complete to the left really good job to pick up a chunk of yardage and get it out to the 39 yd line and the Red Raiders are moving quickly down the field from the shotgun the inside give B noses his way through and he was on his way gets it all the way to the 38 defense is going to have their hands full trying to stop this guy they better rally to the football and get multiple hats cuz he is not easy to bring down they're lining up on First and 10 from the [Applause] 38 he's going to pass throws to the wide out off the deflection missed a great chance to force the turnover instead it'll be second down well the linebacker's playing Zone coverage and he's just watching the QB's eyes to see where he's going to go with the football and the eyes take him to the ball he's able to swat It Away Great play on defense to the air it's Morton they'll throw it to the back on the screen you know and that's why this guy can play first second and third down you've already seen him earlier in the drive rip off some nice runs but he can catch the football as well they're going to find ways to get him going in all sorts of ways seeing it specifically on this drive didn't get much picked up a yard and that will leave them with fourth and [Applause] two offense calls a timeout here critically important to make sure they have the right play call and everyone on the same page here they don't even consider the 47 yd field goal attempt and they'll try to pick it up on fourth down and [Applause] short they'll try to pick up the first how about that defense rising up and stopping him short on fourth down Lowman wi defense that time on fourth down was expecting run and you saw at the point of attack how they just dominated there was nowhere for that guy to go defense wins the down they give it back up now to their offense [Applause] go from the gun the running back has it got behind those pads and picked up three out to the 35 after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven they go to the draw solid fundamentals on that tackle from this freshman I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those those big rugs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to adjust feeling some heat and the pressure gets to him down goes to quarterback the Beavers will punt this one away three and out and not much choice but to get rid of the ball he only needs a sliver of daylight the solid return there offsets some of the punt yardage and really sets up this offense nicely offense set on first down leaves it with the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the linebacker showing you read and react he knew exactly where that running play was going and he beat the football B to the line of scrimmage and force the tfl receivers telling the quarterback what they see to throw it's Morton got his man downfield how about that play getting a huge chunk of yardage to wrap up the first quarter and that's how we'll end it and head to the second that's the end of the quarter and Texas Tech is on top and we've come to the end of the first as we take a moment to check out the stat so far back at it to open the quarter with this first down play going to run it it's Valdez at the 20 he's got space and excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pickup before the defense put a stop to it here we go they'll ride the running back and leave it with him nice move to keep running and he's able to find a little bit of Running Room before they get him down operating in the Red Zone here on second down out of the shotgun they go to the ground not much room he gets one down to the seven the Red Raiders are in the hurry up trying to pick it up on the ground so close to that end zone he could almost taste it but it'll be first and goal for this offense defense is backed up shadow of the goal post trying to defend their own End Zone turning to the running game on first and goal and the defense drags him down I think it would be great if this offense leaned on the Run game more in the Red Zone leaned on their back man give it to him let him do his thing he hadn't even got in the end zone yet this season so love to see him get that opportunity to maybe punch one in here quarterback run is part of their game plan and he'll finish the run in the end zone touchdown Red Raiders look it's still early but we have some real distance being put on the scoreboard right now you do it's early but you got to find something positive right now everything going in the other direction so how are you going to respond when you've been hitting the mouth early in this football game got to find something positive quick about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown to kick one away and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return Oregon State takes over ready to send the offense onto the field now we'll get a chance to see if they can answer that last score trailing by 14 Jesse Yeah and at this point of the game I feel like offensively you should go back to what's been working for you in this game don't be afraid to dial up plays that you've already had success with running it and throwing it it's okay to repeat plays down 14 at this point and I would also say Palmer kind of understanding that my defense is not playing great so I know offensively I got to put some good possessions together here make something happen on this side of the football stuffed almost in his track strong enough to pick up one to the 35 these are the types of plays where offenses impose their will third and short from the 45 Johnson looking to throw just a short pass to the tight end they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down third and short and I guess the only thing they really took out of play and the shotgun was the quarterback sneak yeah and that's kind of what I like to do Reese I mean third and inches I I want to run the quarterback sneak run the football but this team fully comfortable throwing the football and you see why easy pitch easy catch first down they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground to cover to pick up the first a nice job by the defense there tackling the catch and smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations that time perfect coverage and nice job bringing the big guy down not easy to do they'll try to bully their way for the first and he's knocked down but not before moving the chain and the Beavers will hustle to the line you wonder now on offense have they found something in the Run game finally it's been tough for them to get the Run game going but they picked up a nice gain on that last one let's see if they go back to it and those physical runs take a toll it might not be a big game now but down the road third fourth quarter late in the ball games they tend to turn into big runs after picking up a couple it's second and eight he's looking to throw oh so close to paying off the tip really had it in his hands but it falls incomplete you know it's so important for Corners to be able to transition right you got to have real loose hips you got to be able to change direction on a dime and in zone coverage when you see the ball thrown you can break on it and force incompletions like that they're a perfect two for two on third down on this drive they need eight to move the chains again he's right on Target and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down here comes the field goal unit and there is a degree of difficulty with this one at 47 y from the right hatch he's got it showing off that big leg from 47 yds out they'll kick it away after putting up a field goal on that last [Applause] drive and they desperately wanted to attempt a return but decided not to instead they'll take the touch back Texas Tech ready to send the offense back onto the field boy David they would love to stack another touchdown on top of that last drive and this offense did such a good job on the last Drive everything in Rhythm move the ball down the field didn't make those mistakes Jesse and they need to do it again on this one yeah you're right they had the defense on their heels you wonder what sort of communication was going on that sideline what sort of changes were they able to make cuz they got to stop the bleeding right now they push it out to the 39 after picking up five you know they Pride themselves on being physical at the point of attack dominated at the line of scrimmage nice job there picking up the first down they'll give it to the [Applause] back what a Nifty run there to pick up the first down first down physicality wins football games being able to run the football and create balance and and right here just chews up another first down gives you another chance to maybe continue to run the football and I feel like this guy too is just an explosive play waiting to happen his vision his quickness and he's got a burst if you give this guy just a crease he's going to hit it and right now he's doing some some damage on this defense quarterback reacting to what the D is showing been showing them the run now they'll throw it nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away well the defense just needs something positive to happen they're trailing in this game a turnover would be massive for momentum right now and a nice effort defensibly getting a hand on the ball knocking it down on third down going up top snagged in the middle it's Hudson they are on the move down to the 32 and they pick up another first down defense is about learning the plays third down what do they like to do how do they do it so far the offense having a little bit of success but the defense now you got to figure out what they're doing and the Red Raiders will line it up on First and 10 82 monster here's the handoff after the pick up of nine it's second and one I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points that kind of pick up on first down and you can take a shot here on second and [Applause] short they go to the ground the Red Raiders will keep this drive going well it's a nice run there to keep the drive going get the first down I'll tell you guys I'm impressed so far by this offense and their ability to run it early the offense down to the 22 on First and 10 give to the back a strong tackle and wrap up from the Junior and offenses want to continue to feature the Run they want balance even if it's not super successful you can take it little bit at a time just to keep that defense honest picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down the give to the tail back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and the Red Raiders racing to the line in the hurry up quarterback checking the play looking to throw it's Morton quarterback floating away from pressure got out of trouble got rid of it he makes the connection he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before halftime [Applause] to the air on first down they're working that left side they stripped it out oh look what I found the offense keeps it the offense calls a timeout to stop the clock one more play before the team's heads of the locker [Applause] rooms on second down looking to throw using his legs keeping his eyes down field pass is incomplete and half comes to a close on that play at the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update guys you've been calling a lively one from there in Coralis and it's been said football is a game of inches and guess what based on the comparison between third down conversion rate today and the average yard per play how can you argue that I mean the low-lying fruit is to look at some of the explosive plays we've seen in panic but really this game is going to come down to which team is more efficient when they have the ball and how they play when it matters most Al teed up and ready to go here in the second half offense trailing by a couple of scores they'd like to generate some confidence here early in the third quarter down two possessions the coaching staff met in at halftime and they've probably scripted this opening drive just like they do at the start of the game they've now got a idea of what plays they feel most confident in what plays their quarterback is seeing the best to go out here and execute a apply some gr game pressure to these guys so I think getting the ball first driving down scoring right here would be huge you know the one thing you can say about this defense they pursue the football the first guy to be more and more hats flying to the ball carry you saw it on that play getting the tackle for loss couldn't get him blocked on that last one now now it's second and 14 the pull and throw off the RPO and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few and offenses nowadays they're really just counting numbers how many guys do you have out wide how many guys do I have out wide if I have enough guys to block your guys boom it's just built into the offense pitch catch let me get a few yards wide open downfield they convert on third down as he gets it to the 46 yd line the divers want to move [Music] quickly he's got it on the right dances away from one good execution they move the sticks and they've got it at the 33 and I love the idea of getting this guy screen throws because of his ability after the catch so nice job getting downfield getting a hat-- on hat and giving him a tunnel to run through here's an opportunity for this offense in search of its first touchdown it's first and 10 he wants to throw it again got it behind the line it's Hankerson finds in crease at the 20 defense makes a stop but the chain move and it's first and goal from the eight and that's why if you're the offensive coordinator you've got to find as many ways as possible to get this guy going just get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage doesn't need to be a throw deep down the field he's so and makes the grab in the end zone touchdown fever fever and that's what I love about empty sets and formations on offense is that when you spread the defense out you create bigger Lanes to throw into you saw it right there trying to pound it in he goes there b and he's in there and the two-point try is good that is an efficient drive seven plays 7 5 yds and they finish things off with an 8yd toss to the score about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown and he takes this from inside the five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 Texas Tech has it back and the Red Raider offense on its way to the field [Music] they'd love to put a long drive together here as they start from their own 21 they'll leave it with him defense there to stop him after a gain of one to the 22 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine quarterback checking off dropping back it's Morton it's complete to the left really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs the run from the shotgun just sort of a Relentless run getting everything that was available to him and they'll Mark him down at the 40 after the productive first down play at second and [Applause] six he's looking to throw unloads to the wide out a strike downfield that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop the Red Raiders are moving quickly down the field looking for space it's Valdez all the way down to the 25 yd line they move the sticks it's first down every offense wants to be able to run the ball and be physical especially on first down and you want to create second and short third and short or just get first downs like that run right there and nowhere to go this time and he couldn't follow up the big run with another boy there wasn't much room to wiggle for that running back there none at all great job by the defense get in the back field quickly closing up all the holes nowhere to win on second down he'll fire quickly to the tight end I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job Forte to the ground with the back hard running there and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the first down well that's kind of the advantage of third and medium right is the defense you keep them guessing you could throw it you can run it that time they hand it off they pick it up yeah and you can see the d drop back a little bit it creates a little bit of space the running back blast through gets the first down well this defense obviously knows they have to be ble to stop the run now in the second half if they're going to win this game and you wonder if they were able to make some tweaks and some adjustments at halftime maybe getting some more bodies close to the line of scrimmage to give themselves a chance to come back in this game coming after him oh it's loose defense just cradling that fumble and securing it man the coach is going to absolutely give him an ear for you have to understand the situation in the game I got a chance to go up my scores we're winning the football game ball security I can't reach that thing I got to cover it with two hands and make sure I don't turn it over what a big time mistake Oregon State takes over ready to send the offense onto the field they put it in the end zone the last time they had it and now an opportunity to really take control of this game you can feel the momentum shifting if they were able to take the football here drive it down the field and score Again David they would have all of that momentum on their side and there's nothing about momentum that you can quantify like I I don't understand it but once it gets going in One Direction a lot of times it's so hard to swing it back the other direction the momentum is real and they got it I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear it a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when we decide to run it and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play there's a reason third down is called the money down what a great find by the quarterback great job finding his receiver at the end of the game you look at third down percentages it tells a huge story and it goes a long way in deciding who wins a football game and off from the shotgun you know it's so important for offens is to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down got three on first down it's second and [Applause] seven they'll go right back to him and he's to the 48 yard line that would be good enough for a first down and that is just an attitude run running it right up the middle right into the teeth of that defense aler alert on the run it's McMillan good pick up there they'll move the chains and they're set up at the 41 first down you know you always want to establish the running game how about this offense nothing fancy run the football be physical get a big [Applause] game from the gun they'll try to impose their will that play just never had a chance they knock him down for a loss of five it a speed bump on that last play now work to do on second and 15 they'll keep it on the ground and the Freshman does a great job using his technique and getting the man on the ground this will be the eighth play of the drive but a great opportunity for the defense to get off the field on Third and long a check down would be the last resort [Applause] and it'll be intercepted In The End Zone really tough on an offense third and long it's tough to you know you're passing the football they know you're passing the football I'm going to rush the passer I'm going to drop back deep make you throw the ball underneath but you know quarterbacks also want to force that football and try to get that first down he does there and that's why he creates the turnover Texas Tech ready to send the offense back onto the field after that last drive he came back to the sideline and the coach probably said you dropped it you didn't pick it up come on get on the ball David no that's not what he said he said you're doing a great job just keep your head y he got blasted you got to hold on to the football Palmer turnovers to side games those are big plays it's tough on him too cuz he knows he let his offense down on that last drive so you know that guy's eager and anxious to come out here and make a play fires to the big fella at the 35 he's got room he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down if you like old school running games this has been the game for you and a couple of guys who starred through the first three periods they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first down quarterback will audible early movement on the offense and they'll push it back five yds start the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty they'll move it back and it's first and 15 for this offense back to pass it's Morton going for it all makes a catch down the right side and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made what a beautiful throw and catch on this play and I love the job the receiver did tracking the ball in the air nice job of locating the throw and then hauling it in the give from the gun trying to impose their will on the ground as he stopped after a 5yd pick up to the 33 halfway there on first down it's second and five they believe they can run right here nice move creat some space and he's slip through the crowd and he'll house it touchdown Red Raider an impressive run from the back gets him six points good drink of water and maybe a little oxygen he definitely needs some oxygen after that long run but it looks simple right just handing the ball off but when you can make big plays like this in the Run game man does it make offense [Music] fun he'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point extends the lead to double figures at 10 and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor's in the studio fellas I think at least a portion of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished up ruter took care of business today I think their coach had their attention all week and the end result was a focused group of scarland knights that fired on all cylinders the circle of life in college football where one team moves on feeling like kings and the other heads home licking its wounds Kevin thanks a lot for that one sounds as if they had a good one there they'll knock him down after a pickup of one to the 18 brings up second down didn't get much on first down it's second and nine Johnson wants to throw it on the Run still looking and he gets down on the slide and that's not the only thing down there's a penalty marker on the field [Applause] off we'll repeat the previous down but this time the offense has 10 more yards it has to cover second down coming up he's looking to throw how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion man this quarterback is living dangerously right now obviously he threw a pick on the last Drive he's trying to complete that throw but the defense gets a hand on it tips it up in the air that's oh no that is an oh no situation they're lucky that one hit the ground on Third and long hoping to throw beyond the sticks he'll try to do it himself quarterback has to protect himself gets down with the slide you just feel like throughout the course of this game this guy's just going to have to make plays like this right things aren't always going to be perfect and protection's not going to be ideal you're going to have to play with some effort make some scrambles make some things happen happen when plays break down and and that pass intercepted looking for more room and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick and that's a really good job by the defense understanding the situation of football it's fourth down it's late in the game you got a multi-p possession lead take away all the Deep stuff make him Force the football into coverage they do and they stamp this game Texas Tech has it back and the Red Raider offense on its way to the field from the gun give on the inside and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense and I like the first thought process right here run the football we want to run that clock with the lead thank you to the defense for forcing that turnover setting us up now if we can put a few first down BS together we're looking really good now the quarterback changing the original play call dropping back it's Morton and that pass will be Jarred loose on second down that brings up third down that's what I'm talking about that is how you close and when a guy's going to make a catch you make sure he doesn't make it physicality using your pads running through them and guess what not only this play does he feel it next time he tries to go over the middle or feels footsteps this will pay dividends pocket starts to collapse got a man it's Douglas and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop that's a good job by the drag route there understanding its Zone coverage so instead of continuing to run across the field he settles down into an open spot making it easy for his quarterback they were unfaced by that earlier fourth down failure here and will try for a second time in this [Applause] one he'll try to throw and pick up the first down fires to the tight end running toward the tap and they finally make the tackle but this will be a pretty easy conversion for this offense well I tell you man this guy's been putting on a show all game long we've seen his decision making we've seen his athleticism because of him they've got this huge lead in the fourth quarter so why stop throwing it just keep it going when the Going's good he'll be brought down at the 5 yd line and this defense is on its heels now it's second and goal he'll run it to the middle looking for the End Zone he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a cover he's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did interesting to see what the offense does on this next one quarterback making adjustments with his receivers third and goal and they'll try to pass it in and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down yeah pretty short they choose not to run throw the football and I think a lot of that has to do with they know they're in field goal range they can take the three points on the board it's good he could have hit a string right in the middle of the uprights there and that will extend their lead even further 11 after putting three on the board the kickoff unit ready to go fielded In The End Zone it's Anderson rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the 13 Oregon state has it back and here comes the beaver offense mistakes are going to happen as they did on that last drive now how will they respond Jesse and this is the kind of guy who's going to take full accountability that was my bad that's on me I'm about to lead this offense now down the field scoring Cor dang pal I wish I would have played with you I didn't play with many quarterbacks that were just like yeah my bad hey guys I got this sorry about that it was more you should have ran a better route getting some heat fires downfield all kinds of room to throw that one in there and they're getting it rolling with that play to the 42 yd [Music] line they'll throw it on first down and the defense gets to the quarterback clock is still running and they have to get everybody lined up BR up Johnson looking to throw working that left side now didn't pick up a bot there moved it Forward just a few they're at their fastest Tempo trying to get off this third down play looking to throw and he needs a chunk play pulls it in it's Hankerson and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker on fourth down trying to find his man the completion well past the sticks well they just drained all the suspense out of the fourth down conversion moving the chains easily quick timeout called by the offense after the play trying to preserve every minute possible a little screen to the running back well this offense has a ton of work left ahead of him here in this two-minute situation late in the game but the drive off to a good start you get the first down you get out of bounds you work in the perimeter of the field that is exactly what you want to do keeps looking downfield into the end zone for a touchdown and here in the final minute they still have a chance and listen still a ways to go a great job by this offense getting you back in the ball game now we got a one possession game we got our score we did what we're supposed to do now how do we get this stop now the defense has to come up big and get me the rock just over 50 seconds to go they're trying to pull off a comeback and they'll need to get this onside kick to do it yeah and this is why you put your hands team on the field most of the time when you know it's coming and you put those guys that are great catchers of the football the first guys what do they do they go blocked they go blow somebody up the next guys catch the football secure it get your butt on the ground and most most of the time when you do this the ball game is over defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense it's a great play there by the defense stopping that run but now with less than a minute to go you got to use your timeout you got to try and conserve as much clock as possible to give yourself a chance to win he's got it again they get him on the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible they've got it down to the 32 first and 10 [Applause] coming on the ground it's Valdez he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down another good run man he has been picking up yards in bunches today Jesse showing off all the skills he's showing no signs of slowing down David this guy just gets better as the game goes on he is a beast that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there the offense uses a timeout 20 ticks remaining movement from the linebackers trying to mess with the offensive Line's assignments they'll be perfectly content to go right back to the ground here on second and eight he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple he got no but now it's decision time it's third down listen if I go get this first down there's a good chance this ball game's over the clock's going to run out so how aggressive do I want to be on this third down well I want to be aggressive if I'm on defense you could tell in these last couple plays they've been selling out putting a lot of bodies close to the line of scrimmage anticipating the offense trying to run the football trying to bleed the clock now i' get after this quarterback I'd be anticipating throw here just send the Blitz and really dictate to them and give yourself an opportunity to [Music] [Applause] win they won the game today that's two in a row if they win the next one it's called a winning streak it's been done before and we're seeing the identity of this team coming to fruition just get the sense they're finding out who they are what they're about what they're going to do schematically and who their big Playmakers are wh which is tough to do right it's tough to grow throughout a season and understand who you are but when you stack wins week after week on top of each
