does it can kind of be overwhelming D you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you can take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you worked to get here and now it's Julio Rodriguez roess runs ball misses and that's a stolen base not even close well he's batting lead off and he's acting like a traditional lead off gets on base to start the game then puts himself on second with a nice stolen bag I think that sets the tone for the offense for sure the M with a chance to score first and we're just getting started here in the top of the first rips that one center field makes a nice running catch one away and now we check out the Mariners lineup one guy leading the way offensively for this club right now Lukey and boo he's a big time run producer for these guys man leading the team in homers runs batted in doing damage on the regular man making opposing pitchers just sweat out there it's kind of fun to watch get ready for a show when he steps into the box and the batter Now cal Ry there's The Swinging events one ball two [Applause] St robless the runner at second with one away bouns it off still one and [Applause] two the pitch on the third struck him out and that's the first strike out of his major league career and it could be the first of many if he meets the goals he set for himself and the expectations others have for him he doesn't one to just win games he wants to dominate at this level do you think Young pitchers can sometimes get too caught up in try to rack up PS early in their career H I think they can it's kind of like a hitter that doesn't have power The Thrill is still hitting the ball over the fence and so for a guy even if he doesn't have power stuff out stuff a strike out is still something that makes him stick his chest out a little bit further the 3-1 so now two on and two outs maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there pretty much gifted in first base with the quick free pass first and second two outs the matter now Jorge palano two on two outs and strike twoot in this first inning it's kind of that nightmare scenario for starting pitching but you know what it's still early enough he can settle in he can get some length if he just cleans up his mechanics a little bit foul another two two up coming first inning and already up to 23 [Applause] pitches and he grounds one to the right this one Bryce Miller and singing a special day for him he's making his major league debut here and I'm sure he's got some nerves he'll be excited for that first pitch to be in and over with so that he can settle in pitching just like he did in the minor leagues exciting moment he's got his family in town I think This Moment's going to be a huge tone Setter for his career bottom of the first and Angels lineup not a team that usually sees a lot of pitches or Works a ton of walks Chris they take a more aggressive approach than some of the other teams in the league they definitely have a few free swingers in this lineup hitters who want to be on the attack and that's great as long as you got pitches in the zone but if the pitcher's able to expand the Zone can be very difficult for an offense like this to get going you got to somehow draw some put some Runners on base so that when you do have those free swingers come up you can cash in with some runs that are plated and now it's one and two spoils the two strike pitch and he'll see another one down base is empty that's to Third and there's a base hit that Z with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll away and down and why those are the toughest locations to hit the baseball steps on first for the out well he's doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the let the defense work behind him with nothing so he gets two Milestones with that hit his first big league knock and he drives in his first run as well yeah you love to get both of those out of the way with just one swing of the bat and the only guy in the line with that strike out but you can't get too relaxed you still got to make good pitches to get him out righty to the pl roll to short could be two to First and he beats it conscious of that now you have the outer half of the plate to work with out there on the M tosses the first lead off man retired here in the third you want to be a great defense you have to deliver consistently it doesn't matter how many highlight re plays you make if you can't execute the small stuff just like we saw here's Joe [Applause] Adell one down base is empty and the L misses to even the count just missed really good take especially with two strikes Taylor w deck Circle trying to hold a one-run lead here in the last half of the third foul we'll see another payoff pitch kicks and fires and that's ball for it wasn't easy but he earned that walk after a long it back well that's a nice job of grinding out that a lot of pitches ends up the wall Very gritty in Taylor Ward man it showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one he's only given up one run but the starter pitch count is starting to get up there and that Mariners here's a one-1 swinging a Miss as he was late that time just a really nice slider down and in there he wants to get the hitter thinking fast speed him up and just subtract some velocity and add a little move the one two knocks that one away and we'll do it again B is empty one away and we're at the top of the fif and another ball it misses it's a strike down and he'll be beating himself up on the way back to the Dugout got a pitch to hit just couldn't get to it I think that slider really caught way more the pl than it was supposed to and that's in for a strike [Applause] good job to pull it out oh this offense has just been locked down almost five full Innings of shut out baseball and there's the ball man oh man I don't know how you take that pitch that's as close as it gets Miller is just one strike away he fouls it off will'll do it again trying to close out a one-run lead last half of inning number five spoils that one and it remains two and two the wi of the pitch got him and that is the ball game Miller gets his first big league win and what a performance he put together to do it singing a complete Game feels like one of those outings you can only dream about I doubt he went out there today thinking that he's going to go the distance but he had it all working and they let him finish the job I love that that was something special very cool to see one nothing
