[Music] Kansas State about to kick off to get this game [Applause] started and he'll bring it back and the returner goes down the Tigers Return Man hardly helped out the offense with that one and here comes the quarterback and one thing you know for sure with this team as he goes so goes the offense and he's a big time Talent ree this guy can hurt you in a multitude of ways throwing and running the football he's going to have to be dialed in though because this defense is going to give him a lot of different looks it's really important mentally this QB is on his game from the gun the ground game nice move to keep moving and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end defense is going to have their hands full trying to stop this guy guy they better rally to the football and get multiple hats cuz he is not easy to bring down good pick up on the ground and they'll Mark him down at the 39 and runs like that are like body blows in a boxing match four five sixy games early turn into 2030 40 yd gains later they really wear down defenses and they test their physicality and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage how about the Defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions dropping back it's henan he looks that one in nicely and good blocking in space out there to give him enough room to pick up the first down well we know this guy is special and because of that his quarterback is looking to him on critical down and distances there on that third down there was no question it wouldn't have mattered if he was single covered double covered man Zone that's where he was going with it and the Big Time playmaker outside picks up the first last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 he's looking to throw setting up the screen still on his feet at the 45 oh it's loose it's as if that ball had a magnet going back to the offense how in the world did they keep it and wait just a second the officials going to take a second look at this one and you know the standard is indisputable video evidence and the officials will change the call Memphis coming to the line with a fresh set of [Applause] downs fires a full now it's picked off he'll go down right there but what a big play to come up with that turnover this offense knew coming into this game it was not going to be easy thrown against this defense they're at the top of virtually every major statistical category when it comes to pass D and the quarterback just found out the hard way throwing a pick on the opening drive offense getting set for first down he's looking to throw it caught behind the line it's G he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the six for a first down I want to get my running backs the ball in space as much as possible and sometimes it doesn't work in the running game but I can throw it to him I can try to create some space out wide dump him the football let him make some catches and see if I can't get some big plays out findind space on the right just carving up this defense and getting it down to the 24 they are dialed in on this drive a couple of Chunk plays and now they'll snap it on first down takes a half hand off it's giddens finds a little bit of room give him a couple down to the 23 Second down coming up easy wide out in motion quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep and he's brought down after a nice game how many ways can I make you think right first drive out the gates getting to my playmaker going full speed across the formation with a touch pass you better be able to adjust to it then when you adjust to it I'm going to have an adjustment to your adjustment because I'm always right I'm an offensive firing to the right complete and he'll run it into the end zone touchdown wild cats and the extra point is good and it's seven nothing a very efficient five play scoring drive and they close the deal with the seveny for the score fielded In The End Zone it's Drake I know he thinks he can house every return but sometimes you just have to take a knee as he stopped at the 14 Memphis has the ball back and the offense ready to go to work that last Drive was promising for a while but you just can't mess it up at the end with the pick Jesse no you got to be able to finish drives especially in this game if you're going to win him David they've got to be able to eliminate the Mel ston yeah and I don't think you get conservative play it safe you can trust your guy I think you put the ball right back in his hands and let him do his thing oh man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack he believe in that running game got six before he stopped at the 23 I know that wasn't a big huge play and everybody's not excited the fans aren't going crazy but those are the plays that in the fourth quarter matter a lot again making you tackle my back making you feel the physicality of the football game throughout so you get tired and get worn down in the fourth quarter the Tigers have enough for the first down man I do not want a guy that will dance I want Square shoulders to the line of scrimmage take the snap secur the football play physical and fall forward nice job by that running back getting the first down they'll run it from the gun they'll rip off eight on that it's second and two I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points guys it's Kansas State who carries the lead into the quarter break we put one in the books Let's have a look at our game summary [Music] will start the quarter offense about to snap it on second [Music] down they'll ride the running back and leave it with him they stop him Cole maybe gets a yard to the 34 now on third down for this offense third they'll try to get it through the air all kinds of room to throw that one in there oh look out touchdown Memphis and once he got loose it was all over what a nice start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in a rhythm nice start for this offense lining up for the pat smashes it through for the P personal foul buffing the kicker defense the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty after that latest answerer tied things up just about set to kick it away again and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line K state has the ball back and the power cat offense returns to the field man what a drive last time for the touchdown that passing attack was Lethal David and you know you hear all this stupid comment commentators like me and Jesse talking about create balance the run and pass no when you throw that good spin the ball around so the defense has to find a way to affect the quarterback on this drive because last drive he had way too much time to play after the incompletion it's second and 10 from their own 25 they'll run it out of the shotgun that'll be a gain of about seven leaves him with third and three keep pounding away at this defense and make them play the run if you can get this many a chunk they're going to have to commit more guys to the Box more guys to the run then you open it up for the passing caught in the back field it's brown and he couldn't quite get to the marker and that's going to bring up a fourth down and the offense stays on the field on fourth and one I'm not sure they're just trying to make the defense jump I believe they think they can get it and he'll get it up to the 38 it'll be a first down in their own territory but completely undaunted as they go for it and make it on fourth down and it's crazy I I don't even think you have a second thought anymore even in your own side of the field like what I'm going to have bad field position N I don't really care we're going to go for it we're going to play the num we're going to be aggressive you know runs like this often times are like a boxer in a boxing match obviously it's not a knockout punch but these are body blows and as the game goes on these small gains are going to turn into longer runs fires to the tight end he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down and the wild cats look to keep this drive humming fast motion from the offense receiver on the Move gets the touch pass he is going nowhere stopped at the line of scrimmage got to give the defense credit watching film anticipating they knew that this offense had had this play in their back pocket they knew about the speed of this wide receiver and different ways they were going to try to get him involved everybody on defense on the same page playing together I love it buys a little extra time not out of trouble and throws and that's going to fall to the ground incomplete that was a physical match up there third down coming if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum motion trying to get the defense to show its hand pressure coming and he can't escape and down he goes Kansas state will have to punt it away the punter going to get his first work of the afternoon he'll call for the fair catch here here comes that Memphis offense back onto the field this could be a real Turning Point in the game they scored a touchdown they got a stop and now a chance to break the tie yeah this offense has got it cooking man and how about the defense great job getting that running for the tap ripped off a huge chunk play on that one as he gets the first down before he steps out of bounds I know it's early in the game but defensively after that play you know you have to tackle the catch when this guy gets the ball in his hands he is so dangerous after the fact so it's okay for him to make catches just got to get him to the ground quickly Anderson with the carry they make the tackle at the 36 but they're in plus territory now with the 15yd pickup the Tigers in the hurry out the clock has stopped and we've reached the two-minute warning before halftime they'll snap it from the 36 they've got a first down looking to move it through the air throws to the wide out he's got it ran through the tackle and he's got room to run touchdown tigers that is the ultimate grab and go for the score man I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game I tell you what keep that passing game up and keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up numbers and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor in the two very different emotions inside the locker rooms of these teams who did battle today UT packed a wall up today and in many ways it felt like it packed miners Nation with him too this was supposed to be a road test and instead it felt like a walk through the park in El Paso they've got the screen set up crosses the 30 got away a lot to go through in the film session this week for both teams but boy but sure is going to be easier for the side that came away with the win and Kevin Connor is keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there quarterback checking off he's going to pass using the quick game at the 45 on it way a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first down well after that last play you can see how electrifying this guy is and how special is after he makes the catch if I'm on offense I'm trying to find a lot of ways to get him touches in this game Johnson looking to throw he's going to take off and he has a solid gain on the play before sliding yeah I think you're just seeing the experience this guy has right he's so poised and initially he's flushed out of the pocket nothing's open and he doesn't panic he's not throwing it away he's not sliding early he just knows where the defense isn't and he's able to attack that with his speed get a positive play he steps out of bounds but he's got enough for a first down the wild cats come to the line with a new set of downs comes out throwing on first down he's got the tight end he'll be brought down at the three yd line an explosive play in the passing game has it on the doorstep they flexed out that tight end a little bit and you know the tight end's always open always open quarterback's best friend and this guy's a problem reys he's a matchup problem because he's too big for DBS to cover and he's too fast for linebackers touchdown Kansas state and they'll put that scoreboard operator to work and put six on the board yeah and the passing game comes through man and we need more of that in the second half an extra point away from from tie in this football game you trailed a little bit in the first half stayed calm if this passing game can continue to heat up look out in the second half the returner will field it and bring it back not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 Memphis has the ball back and the offense ready to go to work the way this game started you feel as if you have to score a touchdown every time you have it and now we'll see if they can respond yeah and I wonder how much pressure that puts on the offense Jesse like you know this is back and forth and I got to score and every possession matters so much what does that do to you as a quarterback well it puts a lot more pressure on you for sure to feel like I got to make every third down throw if guys are open vertically down the field I got to hit them too we can't let our serve get broken now they'll try to cash in this drive first and 10 from the 50 he wants to throw got it in the middle it's Taylor they stop him just short of the first down but it will be second and inches coming up the offense calls timeout it's the second one they've used this half and the quarterbacks buy his Lonesome on second and inches wants to throw it's henan unloads to the wide out a strike downfield the tackle is made but he's got it first and goal from the Six Clock stops momentarily for the first down they'll hurry to the line secondary walks up on the line showing press coverage Falls incomplete and he did everything perfectly except catching a football second down coming I love the coverage on defense in the Red Zone everyone's got their eyes on the quarterback and they're flying to the football and you saw that there on the incompletion he's going to pass on second down he's got it in the end zone touchdown Memphis and it's so underrated the the relationship between a QB and a wide receiver the timing the ability to know where he's going to be and be accurate with the football that's what leads to nice touchdowns Jesse well the chemistry between these two guys has to be great when you're throwing into because coverage is going to be tight the throw might not be perfect but this is something these two guys have been repping practice over and over and over and it's paying dividends now on [Applause] game from inside the 15 here's the return maybe if he could have eluded just one or two two more guys that would have been a big return but they'll mark it at the 30 here's this offense with a fresh set of [Applause] downs a little pre-nap eye candy for the defense he Wast no time and comes out throwing complete in the middle we've got a timeout in the waning seconds of the half maybe a chance to get off a couple more plays time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half Johnson wants to throw it fires to the wide out and it's picked off trying to take it back and they come up with a big play to make sure no more points go on the board before the end of the half they'll have just enough time to get one more snap before the half Corners are going to bail trying to find his man on first down oh he wants it all oh and he gets downfield for the big catch he finally make the stop but that one will make those halftime stats look a little nicer as we head to the break first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connors in our halftime update Memphis ready to kick it deep and get the second half going fielded In The End Zone it's Lockett pulled down at the 18 and the decision to bring it out of the end zone was not a good one and here comes the Kansas State offense back onto the field maybe adjustments or attitude or attitude adjustments they've got to find a way to run the ball at least some here in the second half I do think you said something that's important I I think running the football is an attitude like it starts with the offensive lineman and being physical having a nasty attitude running back same thing I think they need more of that in the second half you know and I think if then if you're this defense you an opportunity to make a statement here yeah I know you guys went in at halftime and you riled yourselves up and you told yourself that you think you can run the ball on us on this very first drive we're going to prove to you just like in the first 30 minutes you cannot out routes are very much about timing you got it's got to be a quick decisive movement from the quarterback as soon as he sticks that foot in the ground you know he's breaking out throw it right now so he can go make you a play great pitch great catch off the play fake on first down to throw finds a man on the left left defense on skates that time they finally drag him down at the 42 well how about the offense setting that play up we've seen earlier in the game a couple shorter throws just trying to suck those safeties closer to the line of scrimmage anticipating that they would get an opportunity to take a shot they called the perfect play at the perfect time right there budge formation trying to Spring a guy free from the gun the running back looking for room all the way down to the 25 yd line they move the sticks it's first down well you wonder if one to the adjustments they made at halftime trailing in this game was to try and get the ground game the sa DAV they're off to a good start here dang right stay patient you don't have to worry about it you don't have to press just try to get scoring Drives together don't abandon the lad as a tight end if you're going to be good in the passing game you've got to be able to feel the windows when defenses Play Zone coverage and he did a really good job of that right there he didn't rush he didn't hurry he took his time found the soft spot and gave his quarterback an easy place to throw the football picked up maybe a yard it's down at the 16 I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear it a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it got enough space and he's losing and he'll take it to the house touch down wild cats this running back was not going to be denied nice blocking up front to create a hole for this running back and he was able to take advantage and we're all square as he's set to kick it away he'll bring it out it's straight didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 will take over here comes that Memphis offense back onto the field looking for a productive play on first down Anderson with the carry they finally make the stop but the big run is plenty to move those sticks for the first down that has got to be demoralized if you're on defense because they just ran the ball right up the middle down your throats and they gashed you they'll snap this one from the 30 on First and 10 they'll ride the hot hand and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense on the play stopping the run is physic C it's about I'm bigger than you I'm stronger than you up front really nice job by the defense showing their strength B up stuffing the Run looking to pass It's henan Quickly complete they're able to get him stopped just shy of the first down marker a quarterback droing back understanding I'm getting Zone coverage all I got to do is be a little bit patient manipulate that defense a little bit my wide receiver runs that drag and I get the first down wants to throw on third down fires to the big fella such a big part to convert these third downs and they've got it at the 42 and the tigers are rolling down the field off play action on first down can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down and finally the defense is able to get some pressure on this quarterback been trying all game long different ways to affect him weren't able to get there but on that play because of the pressure it affected his accuracy and that's why the ball Falls incomplete draws are such a smart way to take advantage of fast defensive line they want to get up field and get after the quarterback keeps them honest makes them realize they got to play the run too great play call as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter they'll try to bully their way for the first he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of downs the what a ride it's been through the first three quarters of this game we are all tied up let's check out some stats back at it to open the quarter with this first down play he's looking to throw it he hurs one deep down the left side grabs it inside the 10 he's brought down but he's got him inside the 10 first and goal from the eight man if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or disrupt their timing and their Rhythm I can't give them these big chunk plays through the air I got to be maybe a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different he'll be brought down at the five yd line and this defense is on its heels now on second and goal dropping back it's tenan feeling some heat it's complete to the right he's all the way down to the 2yd line just spectacular execution there nice route there by the tight end making it real easy for his quarterback to find an easy completion if they can get it in here we could have a thrilling into this game it is third and goal run the gun wants to pass touchdown tigers and they grab the advantage taking the lead here in the forth a methodical drive that they finish off by tossing it to the tight end and the tight end I tell you what this is a position that's evolved so much right and you see him move all over the field it's kind of like Where is Waldo you got to find this big fell especially down in the Red Zone area this is a guy they're going to Target and make the big play get the touchdown lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive he'll bring it out it's Lockett and stampeding through the defense and the returner will be brought down K state has the ball back and the power cat offense returns to the field after standing on the sideline and watching that long touchdown Drive they really need to put something together to give their defense rest and that's a real thing man like you played a lot of plays you get worn out you need a chance to go decompress on the sideline get some oxygen Palmer now it's on this offense yeah this is the definition of complimentary football cuz it's a two-prong problem you've got to score points and answer but you've also got to take your time and give your defense an opportunity and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense not a lot of productivity on that last play they'll try it again on second and long from the 23 he's looking to throw and he feels the heat coming and it burns him up another sack and whatever they did on first and second down don't do that anymore third and very long coming up bu a little time got it behind the line it's gens and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down K State sends the punt team onto the the field ready to boot it away they'll look to pin him deep fair catch called for and made Memphis has the ball back and the offense ready to go to work they'll throw it on first down right down the middle he makes a catch really putting together a threat now they got the first hits at the 37 this offense is not letting up guys they've got a lead here late and they are still taking shots they're still looking for explosive plays this defense just has not had an answer here all game long finds his man it's Taylor they make the stop right there good pick up and still short of the first down if they can pick up a yard here on second down that might put this one in the books they'll run it to keep this clock grinding he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and that's exactly what you would expect from this offense listen when you're in that one to two-minute range and you got the football and you got a lead it's Smashmouth it's keep that clock running it's ground game so interesting now on this third down what they do next but we got to keep that clock mov and they're able to get a third down stop here see if they go for it on Fourth quick timeout call by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense splits the uprights it's good and that lead grows even bigger so the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away after putting up a field goal let's see what the defense can do he'll bring it back from inside his SP really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 and here comes the Kansas State offense back onto the field they're starting to feel a little desperation here David they just can't press yet it's go time we got to put some Drives together down multiple possessions Jesse we don't have any time to waste yeah so at this point of the game you're best players have to touch the football you've got to dial up plays getting your biggest Playmakers involved now if you're going to win this game snagged on the outside it's brown and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pick up great timing there in that throw by the QB on the out route gets it to his guy just in time he makes the catch and his momentum takes him out of bound takes a hit as he fires that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble third and short from the 44 and we might know if they plan to go for it on fourth down by what they call here incomplete he had to get rid of it before he wanted to the defense put the heat on coach has no choice here the offense has to stay on the field down multiple possessions this fourth down attempt coming finds him out of the back field and the defense able to drag him down but not before they'll recycle that down marker quick timeout called by the offense after the play trying to preserve every minute possible Kansas State back at it after picking up the first [Applause] down that's reeled in it's Jackson he will step out of bounds but not before the B big pick up and a first down for this offense fresh set of downs after the [Applause] completion wants to throw on first down gets it out quickly he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down offense will use a timeout with 28 ticks remaining that last completion sets him up on second down now the quarterback changing the original play call Johnson looking to [Applause] throw he got a hand in there knocks it away incomplete well I know that one fell incomplete but what a day this guy has had throwing the football multiple touchdowns and he's done a really nice job with his decision making hasn't thrown any picks which has really helped looking for the End Zone he caught it he'll be stopped just short of the end zone but they'll have it first and goal they'll hurry to the line with the clock still running [Applause] a first down run on the doorstep and he takes it in for the score touchdown Kansas State and with the extra point they draw closer it's 3128 they put together an 81 yd Drive here's the situation first they have to recover the onside kick and maybe time for a play or two few anxious moments there but they hands team true to its name as they make the grab and get the ball yeah and this is why you put your hands team on the field most of the time you when you know it's coming and you put those guys that are great catchers of the football the first guys what do they do they go block they go blow somebody up the next guys catch the foot ball secure it get your butt on the ground and most of the time when you do this the ball game is over so the decision has been made and the coach will take the e e e first down for this offense and the quarterback will just drop to a knee scoreboard operator got a workout in this one fun game for us to watch but they can't come up with the w yeah and it's a team game right the offense did their job but now defense will have to find a way in the future to make better plays get stopped
