welcome to Charlottesville home of the University of Virginia and the Cavaliers where around here they say learning never ends and they hope to teach a lesson in this one what a game and what potential drama we have in store you've seen this script before top 10 team goes into a cauldron of emotion on the road and just hopes to be able to get out and tell about it as we'll see the number one team in the country the north Texas mean green taking on a squad hoping to prevent another L this week the Virginia Cavaliers for EA Sports college football Reese Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one started and the Cavaliers will kick it away to start us off looking for an alley from inside his own 10 and the coverage team able a wrestling down the mean green offense will take the field and they'll get this thing underway and here comes this quarterback this entire offense is built around him he is the engine of the entire team I mean he's the leader he's the alpha everybody looks towards him he's been doing it all year long everybody believes in this young man big opportunity big stage and the completion gives him a fresh set of downs and keeps this drive moving and this set of downs gets started from the 33 and 10 try to get the edge with a quick touch pass the defense wouldn't let him loose and even though it's in completion they lost yardage got to give the defense credit watching film anticipating they knew that this offense had this play in their back pocket they knew about the speed of this wide receiver and different ways they were going to try to get him involved everybody on defense on the same page playing together I love it they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks sometimes people say if you're good enough what's a big deal about going on the road well if you're not careful you might find out a spot like this one guys yeah no doubt about it this is a hostile environment and you know you're going to be getting the opponent's aame for this one they've circled this one all season so they better be ready to bring it today David and the hardest thing to do in college football is to go on the road everything you want to shut this crowd up early you don't want to give them belief cuz if it starts to build throughout the game look out he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense they'll leave it with him just a solid stop by this sophomore and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knock backs and limiting his carries didn't get much on first down it's second and nine here's the handoff and they'll bring him to the ground after a short gain here comes the seventh play of this opening drive they've moved it well but now facing third down quick strike complete and the defense makes the immediate that's enough for the first down it's just incredible you see the arm talent in that last throw the quarterback position is the hardest position to play in team sports the fact that this guy is right at a high school and somehow in the conversation to win the Heisman Trophy that's one of the best stories right now in all of sports Run game is good balance is good now listen if the Run game isn't good then you got to pass the football a little bit more but sometimes you got to keep them honest take them chunk by chunk he's going to pass on second down touchdown mean green and they made it to the house where they found that six points waiting on them number you love as a head coach to watch your off take the field and establish a rhythm and consistency the way they did there everything they dialed up was working to Perfection they go 10 plays on the opening drive cap it off with a touchdown about to kick it off after punching it in for the [Applause] touchdown and they thought about a return Then thought better of it they'll bring it out to the 25 so Virginia offense has the ball for the first time this is just a great matchup to watch on the outside and who can win downfield in the passing game man this reminds me of 1997 Charles Woodson versus David Boston two physical athletes that are going to be going toe to- toe all game one yeah two Alphas two guys that play the positions where you have to have such confidence cornerback wide receiver let's see this throw down the Cavaliers want to crank the tempo caught in the back Back Field it's Angulo and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no game land looking to pass on second down it's caught defense on skates that time they finally drag him down at the 42 and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down and the defense holds firm no pick up at all on that play looking for a gap it's B crosses the 40 gets it down to the 35 before he stopped a g of six after the strong run on second down third down coming do they do it again hard running there fights his way for a couple but stopped short of the marker it's fourth and one they don't seem comfortable with the 50yd field goal attempt so they'll leave the offense out to try to get the first down incomplete pass and the defense comes up big and they take over first down here for the offense he wants to start this drive with a pass he's got his man he's brought down solid pickup but a little bit short of the first down now on second down and a really nice job by the wide receiver you run a drag route find Space they're in zone coverage they're not covering manto man find a little old look at that QB y'all get the same page you can tell they were that's why they got the first here on third down for this offense that's the end of the quarter and North Texas has the lead and we've come to the end of the first as we take a moment to check out the stats so far they've switched into the field and we're ready to get things started here in the second we've got this third down play to open the quarter they'll run the option you'll pitch it they'll finally make the tackle but that option was executed to perfection comes out throwing on first down fires to the big fella they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down second and short now after that completion now on the option now the pitch and they'll ride him down but not before he picked up the first down and how about the timing on that pitch North Texas really has it going on offense wide receiver shows motion looking to move it through the air they're trying to get to it he makes the grab nice Patience by the quarterback here working against Zone coverage he was allowing his receiver an opportunity to find that open space in the defense before pulling the tra motion by the back forces the def to adjust on second down he'll let it fly and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge gain if he could have squeezed it well the offense is in that Fringe area this is a place where a lot of coordinators like to take shots they tried one there just weren't able to come up with it they'll keep it on the ground to the right open space at the 25 they make the stop but not before before he sets them up with a first and goal from the 10 what a run great speed great vision elusiveness and David he's tackled down close to the goal line yeah and this offense when you can run the football like this man you will have success especially in the Red Zone trying to get touchdowns trying to find his man on first down the quarterback can make a big play when he starts moving around and he'll be out of bounds just short of the goal line but man are they in business now and that's a pretty good job by this defense man it's so hard to limit these quarterbacks and they're spreading you out all over the field when they take off it's hard to limit the damage nice job limiting the damage and I tell you what make it physically finish those plays and try to tackle that guy and make him think about running the football in the future he'll toss it and he takes it in for the score touchdown North Texas that touchdown gives his team a pretty significant lead at this point and that's what you want you want to start fast you want everything to come out start clicking make some plays it doesn't always work that way but when you do man the energy the crowd everybody's into it now the other team better respond here he comes from inside his own five and the returner runs out of real EST State as he goes down Virginia has it back the cavier offense headed to the field now we'll get a chance to see if they can answer that last score trailing by hit the afterburners kid and he was loose and out the gate and doesn't go down until he gets to the 48 yd line well that's why this running game can be so Dynamic this guy is special when he has the football in his hands he can make people Miss he can run with power and he also has speed you saw it on that last play and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack playaction pass success has a lot to do with selling that fake you could tell defense was not buying it got in the back field got the big play it's a draw makes one man miss they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down they've got the ball at Midfield but they're facing a third in Long back to throw it's kandria got a man in the middle and he was on his way and they get him down at the 30 well look that wasn't a touchdown that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting his progression and this will be incomplete a big hit there for his second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again on second down he's looking down field and the pass is intercepted and that's just excellent coverage man cover one nowhere to throw the football look at everybody playing man across the board and you still got the safety in the middle of the field nobody open and if I'm the QB man I don't need to force it I I don't force it into the Tight Windows if it's not there he throws it unfortunately gets the interception bad decision by the be there I'll tell you what when those little guys make those physical plays like that it kind of jacks everybody up in the Huddle cuz it's usually the guy breaking ankles but he's like breaking tackles now he's giving you some serious energy he fires a bullet to the right oh and he gets downfield for the Big Catch and he got away from the defense and takes it in touchdown me green they've got the lead in trying to put this one in a hammerlock here in week 10 well this offense is top 10 in the country in points per game because they've got a lot of speed and they've got home run hitters they score fast they don't need 10 plays to go down the field you saw it right there they've recruited well they've got Playmakers they are going to be a problem for defense all year and the returner goes down Virginia sending its offense back onto the field they find themselves in a pretty deep hole here but maybe a chance to grab a little momentum and regroup at half time H all kinds of Running Room at the 20 Oh I thought he was taking that all the way but they stop him at the seven and this is a really important series of plays a chance to cut into the lead just before half time they're bringing heat under heat and he gets rid of it hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and it never had a chance defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming looking downfield it's kandria he makes a grab and he's into the end zone touchdown cavali man nice job getting the passing game going this is big man going into the half and listen I know you're trailing but building some momentum maybe this second half we can keep airing the football out cutting into this deficit and who knows what the heck will happen he'll bring it back from inside five and good work by the coverage team to knock down the Return Man North Texas sends the offense back onto the field they've got some time to work with here Jesse and if they get a first down they might really get aggressive I'd be aggressive right out of the gate I'd be throwing for a first down if I get it then it's pedal to the medal I'm in that two-minute mode to try to score a touchdown or get a field goal but I do think this is a situation where you also have to understand that I have the lead going into a half I've got the moment him so don't do anything stupid here the back goes in motion on second down looking to throw makes the grab finally way run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down new set of downs after that completion they'll throw it on first down he makes the connection really confident throw and catch there big pick up and they have a first down the offense waste no time getting the timeout call North Texas has it going to work with another first down he's going to pass still looking on the Move slings it down F and the timing just a hair off all right that's a play that I'd like to see the quarterback just take off and run it himself and I love his mindset he's thinking to himself I'm going to throw this we're going to get this first down I have a play but sometimes you just got to know man at this point I'm out here on the perimeter it's just me and these Defenders one-on-one i' touchdown North Texas and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house wait can can I get the director to give me a replay of that I want to count the Defenders one two three I me there's no way they had 11 right I mean that that is frustrating defensively what do you taught like make him earn it right play play Man Press up on him make him earn it make them go to Leng of the field don't give up big plays or just give up big plays and don't have anybody in the camera shot and don't have anybody there to even miss attack they go to the counter one step W two-step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground we've got a timeout in the waning seconds of the half maybe a chance to get off a couple more plays and the offense is content with where it is they'll take a KNE that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halftime update all right guys looks like we've got a great atmosphere today in Charlottesville and there is no better place to start this halftime then by reviewing how this wide out has been a Onan Wrecking Crew the kids's been everywhere and I love how he's willing to go across the middle but that he also has the Jets to burn these DBS on the Deep ball if this defense wants to actually come back in this one they better hide his cleat and with that let's send it back to the guys at the Carl Smith Center and Scott Stadium North Texas will kick it off to start things here in the second half on the move from inside is five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Virginia has it back the cavier offense headed to the field when you're facing a deficit like this one to start the second half you really can't afford to waste a single possession fresh start here in the second half that's the only way you can look at this if you're on offense things did not go your way there in the first half it starts with one play to get our confidence going we just got to get something going early here on this drive one play Stay aggressive now now I think I can be even more aggressive on Fourth Downs I CU OB was makes the catch down the right side off he goes touchdown Virginia and once he found some daylight it was time to make a house call you know quarterbacks and receivers they develop confidence and chemistry as the game goes on these two right now are definitely on the same page and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor in the studio all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend NC State is currently trailing in this one but it feels like the tide may be tur this pack team has up before and they are capable of it again today it's just a field goal game they're trailing by three to Georgia Tech your boy KC has you covered here in studio guys in case anything changes in this one oh and how about that I know Kevin and those guys will be keeping an eye on it for us not able to break the big one on that screen to the running back but he found enough and a solid pick up on first down love the execution there in the screen the running back shows pass protect pass protect last second turns around so he's able to get the ball the D linan have already run past him now he can turn up field for a big Gainer he'll ride his man on the option now the toss perfectly timed on that pitch and they pick up the first down on the play they'll snap it on first down from the 35 on the option and he is going to lose yard he nowhere to run as he is forced out of bounds lost one on that last one it's second and 11 he's looking to throw safe completion on the screen at the 45 on it way and he is marked out of bounds after another big game this aerial attack has had no problem moving moving the ball with chunk play North Texas really has it going on offense now the pitch and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground picked up some yardage on the ground now here comes second down the give to the tail back at the 20 he's got space and he slipped through the crowd and he'll house it touchdown mean green [Applause] the offense strikes again to extend its lead here in the second half and they got everything working how great is this you extend your lead now you get your defense back on the field great job taking advantage of the situation and building on that lead and he takes this from inside the five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Virginia sending its offense back onto the field they're down by 21 points but you got a touchdown here you do at least apply a little game pressure Jesse it's true I think for them to get back in this one at this point now they need the quarterback to play his best football he's going to have to be good really pre- snap David making sure they're in the right looks and he's got to be really good with his decision Mak he's got to be down him because defensively you're given up points so it's not like you have the luxury with defense playing great the offense is going to have to score and score pretty Dam quick he got a bunch and look close to getting a lot more but he's got the first down [Applause] they're getting this guy lathered up Midfield he's got makes the tackle at the 46 but it's a 15yd gain to get them into plus territory I tell you what they're down but they're not out with this guy they keep feeding them he keeps having success on the ground maybe I use this now to catapult use some play action make some bigger plays down the field but the Run game has not been the problem today and the Cavaliers want to pick up the tempo got him looking run he wants to throw grab behind the line it's Crawford and there were no creases or crevices to run through and they shove him out of bounds and this offense is desperate to keep this drive alive failing by multiple possessions and it's getting late and the pass hit picked off never really got that return cranking but the offense is set up at the 30 looking for a productive play on first down here comes the option the pitch couldn't find a lane a pick up of one to the 31 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine right back to him on the ground finds enough room to get three out to the 34 third down after the [Applause] run moving the running back forcing the defense to adjust shotgun snap wants to throw it on third he turns that loose down the right side DB does an outstanding job here on the Deep pass locating the football no Pi able to swat it away pass incomplete quarterback reacting to what the D is showing on fourth down going to the air and the ball is picked off not much of a chance on the return but they'll have the ball at the 33 a great spot to start this drive for the offense they go to the ground tackle is made at the 30 yd line after he picked up four solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six from the gun the ground game discards a man drives ahead for three to the 27 yd line balls at the 27 it's third and short can they avoid making that fourth down decision looking to throw it's kandria that pass is incomplete third and short in college football today you see so much more pass than you used to the offense stays aggressive and I think they stay aggressive because they know they're in field goal range they got that three in their back [Applause] pocket it's good and this guy has been a machine all season long he is absolutely automatic you know you're getting three points when this guy js on the field the balls squs through the end zone that'll be a Touchback they'll bring it out to the 25 as they get set to snap at time winding down here in the quarter to the ground with the back defense makes the tackle and that will probably be the final play of the third quarter that's the end of the quarter and North Texas has the lead and as we of the field let's take a quick look at the national rankings one more quarter to play it might be unlikely but he it's college football comebacks happen a negative play to open the Drive let's see what they've got on second and 14 he's looking to throw he's got it and they'll get it to the 39 yd line and they'll move the chains North Texas in the hurry up defenses have their hands full with him they just give up a big pass there for a first down but it's not just the arm you got to worry about it's his legs too this guy's top 10 in the nation total touchdown scored and that's why he's in the discussion for the Heisman Trophy got his and he's brought down after a nice game he just keeps piling up numbers with completion after completion in this standout performance I think some people might say late in the game you got the win everything's in hand be a little bit conservative or you just say I'm just going to keep doing me and what I do with this offense is throw the football all the yard and I'm going to try to win me a big trophy at the end of the year got three on first down it's second and seven leaves it with the running back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple it's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did be interesting to see what the offense does on this next one and trying to put points on the board on third down now they're staring at Fourth Down third and long situations are really hard to convert the defense knows it's going to be pass the pass rushers are getting up field you're under pressure you don't have timing and as a result now fourth down steps away to find some room and they got him a sack denies the try to convert on fourth down the offense lining up for first down play he wants to throw using the quick game make the stop at the 40 but he's got 15 yard on that one and a first down here's the deal your down three possessions you know it doesn't feel likely they're going to come back and win but we've seen crazier stuff happen in college football it all starts with a big completion on a two-minute Drive they'll get the momentum started in your direction he threw that one with some serious Heat this senior quarterback doesn't need a lot of space to get it in [Applause] there back to pass it's kandria unloads to the right it's complete that throw and catch gets them down to the six in the def is running out of [Applause] answers they'll go to the air he wants it all he snares it in the end zone touchdown Cavaliers this dude is just slicing and dicing this defense into little tiny pieces carving him up completely comfortable knows exactly what he's getting had so much success today they got to find a way to make these quarterbacks feel more uncomfortable that's why they call them the hands team they're able to secure the onside kick North Texas takes possession the mean green offense will return to the field what a turn that last Drive was didn't pick up the fourth down and it led to the scoring Drive David yeah and those are frustrating cuz you think you might nothing but green ahead he's all the way down to the three an electric run has him set up and you want to put a winning streak together like this team has run the football and create explosive Place nice job by the offense showing the speed how about the blocking up front everybody blocking getting a half touchdown North Texas and they take it in for six more points that score might be the one to put them over the top and run this winning streak tonight and how about this squad man looking good again like I feel like we say this week in and week out just continuing to remain undefeated whatever it takes offense defense special teams they have been a good unit and that's why their ranking is so high Virginia has it back the cattle offense headed to the field he'll come out throwing on first down and that is interception number three on the day not a lot of room on the return but already gotten the most important thing the ball and they have it at the 46 first down for this offense they'll keep it on the ground to keep this clock moving they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and I think this is where coaches really earn their money late in games right it's in the fourth quarter you got the lead do you want to stay conserved and run the football because I see the defenses they start to get aggressive and so sometimes you can take the other hand and take advantage of it second down he'll let it fly going up top makes a catch at the 20 and the tackle is made but not before that completion gets him 30 plus that's the way you get things going a huge play and now attacking from just inside the Red Zone they make the stop but this running game moves to change as they get the first down the offense threatening close to the end zone now with a new set of downs from the gun quarterback strolling away from heat and that one's way too far for everybody I'm a little bit surprised they're still throwing the football here this late in the game with this kind of lead they're on first down taking a shot Falls incomplete but obviously they're still seeing matchups that they want to take advantage of in the back end of this defense so they're letting it Fly unsuccessful second down and now I'm immediately thinking I got a little bit more than I want so one of my pass plays what am I going to get into here offensively try to have success on third down nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the carry and they'll send out the field goal unit from the left hash and this distance ought to make that angle pretty easy to handle it is true as he puts three on the board and they'll push that lead out a little further let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Conor Kevin what do you got terrific Showdown this week guys let's take a look at what's going on on Brave old army team this is shaping up to be a blowout to remember with the cadets marching all over the place today they're up by 27 over Air Force just gets rid of it to the running back underneath for now it's back to you fellas but of course if anything changes you see it right here and how about that one Kevin will be keeping an eye on everything going on elsewhere to the air It's kandria Quickly complete quick timeout called by the offense after the play trying to preserve every minute possible from the 22 on First and 10 he's looking to throw it good job to toss that ball out of bounds and avoid the loss and this is just one of those days man where everything has gone wrong right like they just haven't been in a rhythm they haven't they haven't got it going and never built the momentum this is this is one of those days that you learn from you try to grow from a lot of things that we're going to show in the field room that people aren't going to like but hopefully you can learn from it and do better next already well within field goal range wonder how aggressive they'll be on Third and long from the 22 from the gun wants to pass and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up and this defense has put a game together like it is hard to put all the facets of Defense together run def stens they've been so good man dialed in you could tell they were ready they were fast they were physical they dominated this football game they spun that Wheel of Fortune on fourth down and come up bankrupt wasting no time throwing on this drive oh he's ready to take a shot and that will be incomplete man that would have been a big hitter if they could have done it but second down coming and that's a good stop for this defense and listen there hasn't been a lot of positive today but like let's finish this game strong I think that'll be the message from the defensive coordinator can we get a stop can can we get them off the field I know lots went wrong but like let's live in this moment and try to be great right here to end the game that's the kind of play that can really get you going as they get it out to the 36 the offense gets the timeout 12 ticks left on the clock they'll snap it from the 36 they've got a first down now looking to move it through the air he's taking the shot grabs it at the 25 in strike touchdown mean green and the punishment has been extended this team just knows how to finish they keep getting better and better and better and they are close to going 9 and0 how about this a two-point conversion coming quick pass on the Fly motion into the end zone for the two-point conversion as they extend the lead after scoring that touchdown they'll try to get it right back with an onside kick few anxious moments there but the hands team true to its name as they make the grab and get the ball and here we go final play of the game right here looking to throw it's kandria a strike downfield they make the stop but that's going to do it here as time has expired and that'll just serve to pad the steps this is what an elite team does they know they're better they go out they take the figurative sledgehammer and hit them right between the eyes and they just look good in every phase of the game if I'm on the coaching staff I don't know what you could ask for your guys to do better I think the challenge now for this team is going out next week and trying to play with the same type of intensity the same level of execution well Jesse it's easy to look good on the field when you look that good in your uni like when you look that good coming off the bus those dudes are good this is a great team and they proved it just domination from start to finish that's going to do it
