e [Music] welcome to Columbus Ohio and the venerable horseshoe home of the Ohio State Buckey a place that's home to such legendary names as Archie Woody Zeke and stra and while today is the final home game of the season for one team it is more importantly a celebration senior day as we'll see a squad from the Pack 12 the San Diego State Aztec taking on the sixth ranked team in the land the Ohio State Buckeye for EA Sports college football I'm Reese Davis joined here in the boo as always by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one [Music] up and the Aztec will put total Le and will get started [Applause] on first down here comes this offense 42 SPID 4 spider looking for a gap it's Judkins good solid run on that one as he gets it up to the 33 yd line well it's plays like that that will help this offense stay in Rhythm all game long if you can have that kind of success on on first down running the football it just opens up your entire Playbook moving got eight on first down now looking at a second and two scanning the field it's Howard and he can escape and down he goes that's a bad sign for the offense you're trying to throw screen passes to try to negate the pass rush from the defense that time the pass rush even got home on a screen pass they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one the give to the running back from the shotgun and sure tackling there to keep him from heading to the first down marker the Buckeyes will punt it away on fourth down he'll try to really get into this one good job by the coverage unit put a stop to that returnan die [Applause] over you can barely hear yourself thinking here as they're trying to get this defense off to a good start they'll come out on this drive and let it rip they've got the screen set up cross it the 30s got away they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some lanes for their running back with a first down they'll snap it from the 32 they'll try the run and he goes out of bounds after a nice pick up on that one coaches always har about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three leaves it with the back and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense man nowhere to run on that play at all about all you can say is do better but that's the problem are they able to do better and that's why you keep trying things right keep trying to get on the perimeter run up the middle try different things to see what you do well Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field field on third down out of the gun the inside hand off looking for a crease didn't get much picked up a yard and that will leave them with for and two the Aztec will try to pin them back with the punt hauls it in looking for space they'll get him coral and down at about the 19 yd line guys will take over first and [Music] 10 here comes the Ohio State offense onto the field the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum they opened up this drive getting all the way out to the 35 and now it's first down again they'll run the toss he's dropped by behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three that Defender reacted immediately when he saw the play and just set his hair on fire toward the ball carry and you got to see those plays those plays are very fast it happens quick there's no fake to a toss it's pitching on the outside trying to get to the wide side of the field great job by the defense you got to set those edges by the defensive end and everybody fly to the fo they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks and that's what I love about this offense you're not going to get all of your big chunk plays in the passing game by throwing it deep down the field you can kind of Dink and dunk and on that RPO play they had it dialed up and set up to go to that player in the right flat nice job to the air it's Howard he's got his man good tackle there to stop him short of the first down and now they have to make a call so you didn't pick up the first down on the short game but will the analytics sway them to go for it here on fourth down I think the analytics say go for it Rees every single time every situation now it's only one yard to go short yard situation man I'm going to trust I can get that yard guys we're about to get another look at this San Diego State offense that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they'd like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be he lost it high and deep down the left side a full dive to haul that one in man that's a tough play to make when you're that far down the field and you you're trying to control your body and run as you're laying out that's a really great effort really good concentration and that is how you make your quarterback look really good power football with the Run he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple yeah not great blocking up front they're struggling to get the running game going and tell you what they got to find something last week was a bad performance and this offense has got to get some momentum early in this game and find something that they do really really well and someone they can count and it's picked off looking for more room and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick and that's just excellent cover M cover want nowhere to throw the football look at everybody playing man across the board you still got the safety in the middle of the field nobody open and if I'm the QB man I don't need to force it I don't force it into Tight Windows if it's not there he throws it unfortunately gets the interception bad decision by the QB there and he'll pick up the first down after a tough run there as they unpack the pile it's part of Ohio State's DNA to have a lethal running game and this is a trend Reese we can go back as long as you want to go back and we can go back a couple years to JK Dobbins and we can go all the way back to Eddie George they always find great running backs at Ohio State snares it outside it's Judkins and he'll run across the sidelines after the good gain guys out of the back field now it's not just run the ball downhill more you got to be versatile I got to be able to trust you in the pass game and I got to be able to throw you the football and you can do that right there I know you're going to catch it and I can depend on it's a draw that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there this offensive line better figure out a plan for this D tackle he is tough to block with one guy you might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last play they're facing a third down defense trying to keep this offense from getting a line on who to block on the move he fires got him downfield just carving up this defense and getting it down to the 24 third down a lot of times it comes down to not necessarily who's the most open who do you trust the most yeah it's not about the the x's and the O's it's about the jimmies and the Joe's and when my guy's better than you and I get you matched up out wide and I know I trust you I'm finding you he's looking to throw it finds his man it's abuka and he strides his way into the end zone touchdown Buckey and what did I start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in the Rhythm nice start for this offense and the extra point is good about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown he'll bring it back from inside to spot he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 [Applause] here comes the offense on first [Applause] down he wants to throw it's complete and they'll make the Stop and we are headed to the end of the first period 4 y of the first qu with Ohio State San Diego State Z we'll get this quarter going with a second down play give to the running back and they'll bring him down but not before he picks up the first down well I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the D line they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the first now on First and 10 from the 29 back to throw it's Duffy he makes the connection oh what a caught they'll get it to the 48 now no need to measure it's a first down well the defense did a nice job taking everything away down the field but once the drag route was caught they just couldn't rally to the ball carrier in time to make a tackle and as a result new set of downs finally this offense starting to shake the cobwebs and get things moving it's first in 10 looking to move it through the air got his man out of the back field gets it all the way down to the 39 yd line it'll be a first down you know it's a nice throw by the QB there when you're throwing a running backs you got to make it easy on them so you want to put it right on their body make the catch simple and let them go to work like they did just there getting that first and the Aztecs come to the line with a new set of downs they move the tight end all over comes out throwing on first down just missed on the connection incomplete unfortunate with that incompletion the quarterback and his intended target not on the same here comes the offense on second [Applause] down heas looking to throw just a bit of a misfire there as they can't make the [Applause] connection this drive was clicking along but after a couple of misfires threatening to stall out on Third and 10 they want to just keep throwing it shoots it to the left he's missed three in a row now with that last incompletion nice job by the defense they're mixing up their look they're third and long in field goal range they go Zone coverage so everybody on the back end has the eye on the quarterback and they're able to break on the ball Force the incom comption the Aztec will bring the punt team onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it away not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair [Applause] catch the Buy roll that offense back out there they Unleashed an aerial assault last time that took them right to the end zone David So ree with that drive I think you've accomplished something you wanted to accomplish make this defense think you put them back on their heels now shoot you might be able to slip a few runs in on this drive to really Jack him up yeah I like that idea but I also like the fact that speed kills and they've got it at the receiver position so if you got one-on-one matchups man take advantage dropping back it's Howard pressure coming can't make the connection in the defense putting on the heat and forcing the incompletion there's a lot of QBs that when they get hit and when they get hurried and when they get pressured they become very average really nice job by the defense pressuring the quarterback you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 unloads to the wide out that is just a sideline let it throw catch tow drag everything you want this dude is just exceptional in every facet so fluid such a great route Runner and a big play there and money down third down find him I I mean you want to find that matchup because he's going to win and gets a good release gets down the field you see his that's your playmaker that's your guy get it to him get the first and he's running in the open and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made well after that last play you can see how electrifying this guy is and how special he is after he makes the catch if I'm on offense I'm trying to find a lot of ways to get him touches in this game and the Buckeyes are moving quickly down the field looking to go up top on first down floating away nothing open downfield so he'll just toss it away a nice by the quarterback there you're outside the pocket nobody's open so you throw the ball away knowing that you still have more chances to get this first down after the misfire now on second down from the gun they'll try to impose their running game that'll be a gain of about seven leads him with third and three keep pounding away at this defense and make them play the run if you can get this many a chunk they're going to have to commit more guys to the Box more guys to the run then you open it up for the passing game coming to the line looking for that first down on Third and short from the 29 looking to throw for it he'll bow it down Nifty little Scamper on this one enough for the first down and he slides in safely nice job nice way to end that play for the QB he does a really good job scrambling getting the first down and getting down because defensively I'm trying to get a lick anytime I can hit the quarterback that is a win they'll run it in the Red Zone it's Judkins pushes and picks his way ahead for six yards he's down at the eight and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making the good run great job finishing with his bats going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down wide receiver now comes in motion quick pass on the jet motion each brought down but he went backwards after that completion not the way they had it drawn up I like offenses being creative I'm not sure if that was the best place to call that play I think this offense needs to think about just doing things a little bit more by the book they've got a lot of good Playmakers you don't have to reinvent the wheel this early in the game get get to the air it's Howard unleashes to the end zone oh and he dropped it he had a touchdown right in his hands and couldn't hang on it'll be fourth down and the field goal unit is on the field splitz the upright it's good and now the leades extended a little F so after the last Drive ended with a field goal the kickoff team out there to send it away no chance for a return as that ball flies out of the back of the end zone [Applause] the Aztec offense ready to go back to work the deficit here is just 10 points David So a chance to answer here plenty of time left in this football no need to panic this offense just has to put a couple of Drives together and listen the def defense will get this back and get some stop F and get you the football night and I think I think here too David you have an opportunity to keep the pressure on the opponent yeah they just went down and scored but you score here and this game still tight you keep their feet to the fire so an opportunity here to keep applying that pressure they'll throw again after the incompletion and the pressure gets there and down he goes at the 18 and this defense this crowd this atmosphere it can rattle an offense in a hurry you can shake them up when you can get to the quarterback and aect them we all know they become very human they start seeing things and with this crowd they can't hear anything this place is going absolutely nuts nice job rushing the passer igniting the crowd he puts a lot of air under it down the sideline and trying to put points on the board on third down now they're staring at Fourth Down nice job in coverage there offense trying to take a shot downfield the defender able to tip that one up in the air and force it in control fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way no fair catches here looking for room he only needs a sliver of daylight found a lot of running room before he goes out of bounds and what a way to build a little momentum here comes the Ohio State offense onto the field that last Drive was a long one Jesse they'd like this time to pay it off with a touchdown instead of a field goal no doubt ree they had a lot of good stuff going that last drive need to get a tutty up on the board here to extend that lead D and I think you definitely want to touchdown but if you put another long drive together get points multiple possessions in a row start to let those body blows add up and wear this defense draged down to the turf but not before getting the first down it's great to send that Blitz and get the heat on the quarterback but you might need a little help on the back side with this guy yeah cuz now you're putting your guy in manto man situation against the elite receiver and that's a tough battle to win but you got to take those chances you got to be aggressive the offense won that one at least it wasn't a huge gamechanging play we've reached the two-minute warning and they will try to build on what has already been a dominant first half performance got it operating in the Red Zone here on second down they'll run the option he'll pitch it he pushes his way down to the four as they get closer and closer there's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first [Applause] half not a lot of ground to cover and not much to defend a big third down in the Red [Applause] Zone they'll try to bully their way for the first the Buckeyes are stopped but not before getting it past the sticks man this offense continues to do such a great job on third down one of the best in the country at it and the reason why they keep it manageable most of the time third and short they can run the football be physical convert first downs this offense has been so good on third down he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple quick timeout by the defense there trying to make sure everyone has the same call and the D deny them on second and goal they'll try to pound their way in Into The End Zone he goes touchdown Ohio State the Mantra is always finished and they're trying to do that here in the regular season with this week 12 performance and with the extra point they push the lead out a little further and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Connor in in the studio all right phis here's a final update on a top 15 flash Oklahoma State looked like a serious force in what can only be described as a dominant win this is a program with a case full of trophies and they might just add some more Hardware before this year is out we'll see a lot of games this week but few will have as much of an impact on the new to 25 pole next week as this one gentlemen Kevin thanks a lot for that one sounds as if they had a good one there wide out in motion to the air on first down right down the middle got his man downfield they've been steamrolled so far in this first half David but maybe a little positive momentum to take to the locker room right and I like you got the first first down of the drive so maybe you can build on this now I would play and he got him he'll get him down for the sack I know it's early in this game but man this defense has had their number they did a great job already built a huge lead now getting this offense of a situation where they got to pass the football and they better protect their quarterback better than they are right now looking to throw it's Duffy pocket starts to collapse it's caught lots of green grass as he gets it to the 31 and the Aztec want to pick up the [Applause] tempo he'll come out throwing on first down out of the back field he's open and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big pick up on that one and that's why if you're the offensive coordinator you've got to find as many ways as possible to get this guy going just get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage doesn't need to be a throw deep down the field he's so dynamic when he has the ball in his hands he saw it right there completes it in the middle that throw and catch gets him down to the six and the defense is running out of answers out of the gun they'll run it inside Relentless tough running gets it down to the four tight quarters deep in the Red Zone but they can pick up a first down without scoring third down they'll try to run for it and from this angle I don't think he got the first down the defense won at the line of scrimmage stopping the run is very high on every defensive coordinator's list making the team onedimensional nice job stuffing the run on that play right [Music] there fourth down and one and they'll go for it [Applause] try to get it on the ground and he takes it to the housing touchdown as TX and that's a nice drive a nice physicality punching it in with the Run game and here's the thing I like where this offense is going nice job creating some momentum going into the half cutting down the lead this thing could get really exciting nice job answering the Bell right before the half and with the extra point they close to within 10 down 177 1 San Diego State and he takes this from inside the five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the [Applause] 21 just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before halftime easy he'll start this drive firing makes a connection they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more [Applause] plays you open a a drive like that in the entire Playbook opens up on first down from the 44 he's going to pass he'll take a deep shot here pass BS incomplete and there are still 3 seconds left long incompletions are okay we got to take shots you got to make big plays in college football I love that you're taking shots keep taking them some of those are going to come home some of them aren't but when they come home they equal Big Time points looking to scramble going back to the well another deep ball he can haul it in incomplete they took a shot but that's how we'll wrap up the half at the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update the Buckeey will boot it away to start the second half adjustments or attitude or attitude adjustments they've got to find a way to run the ball at least some here in the second half I do think you said something that's important I I think running the football is an attitude like it starts with the offensive lineman and being physical having a nasty attitude running back same thing I think they need more of that in the second half you know and I think then if you're this defense you have an opportunity to make a statement here yeah I know you guys went in at halftime and you red yourselves up you told yourself that you think you can run the ball on us on this very first drive we're going to prove to you just like in the first 30 minutes you cannot looking to throw it's Duffy he'll take another shot here bits to grab at the 25 and there's room and a pickup of better than 30 yards on that completion before the defense brings him down and how about the big strike down the field I love when offenses take shots down the field try to make big plays now they're set up in the Red Zone the run from the shotgun dropped after a pick up of four down to the 16 you see they need more runs like that just it's been so few far between defensively they've been in position they've been winning their one-on-one battles getting off the blocks and rallying to the ball carrier this defense has done a nice job slowing down the Run game this far from the gun they'll try to impose their will made a little something out of that Ronnie picked up a couple down to the 14 well we know this defense is one that plays with a lot of Pride right and part of that is their ability stopping the Run they're a top 25 unit in the nation when it comes to stopping the rush and that really helps them out down here in the Red Zone they're going to have to step up big time in this situation the snap sets up to throw how about that play to get a hand in there and for seeing completion yeah and third and short that choose not to run throw the football and I think a lot of that has to do with they know they're in Feld goal range they can take the three points on the board the official says no so good a Miss field goal leaves us with a double digigit game still sitting at 10 the Buckeyes roll that offense back out there he leaves it with the back into the pile maybe got one he stopped at the 21 [Applause] didn't get much on first down it's second and nine from the shotgun they'll run it they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on raadar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 fires left it's caught downfield oh look out he's at the 20 touch down Buckey puled it in and just kept right on running to the Hallelujah land man how hard is it to defend when you have a weapon like this a running back that can play wide receiver you can design ways to get the football in his hand Palmer once you get in his hands he'll do the rest yeah no doubt I mean and often times those are easier throws for quarterbacks and these running backs they're just naturally so good when they have the football out in space their Vision their creativity their ability to make people miss and this guy showed you right there a difficult difficult guy to stop now if you're this defense moving forward San Diego State takes over as the offense is ready to go to work after giving up that score now it's incumbent on this offense to kind of get a back and forth going Jesse in this game they got to put some points on the board here there's obviously a lot of football to go so it's not necessarily Panic time just yet but I'm getting the ball into the hands of my best Playmakers on this drive I hear you Jesse but not panic time have you seen my defense I I mean I'm not trusting them to get a lot of STS so he puts a lot of pressure on this offense wants to throw on first down got his man and he's still running after the move finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down man this offense is so dangerous Reese they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels swings it out to his running back and that will go backwards a negative play in that defense on high alert that time Z love the awareness by the defense here they're trying to get the running back the ball in space but the defense was expecting it they had guys in position they located the football and they went and game down they'll line up for a second down play Drop steing back it's Duffy throws to the wide out he's got it right on the money with that throw the defense was there but they are in the Red Zone with a first down at the 12 it's hard for an offense to win when you get in predictable situations what a great job understanding where the first down marker is got to get a big game got to get that first down nice job great nose for the first down I like this guy as a running back because he can run between the tackles and he can also go outside he can really do it all [Music] going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone just feeds the running back and he rolls into the house touchdown San Diego State and the running back gets his second rushing touchdown of the game you want to continue to feed this guy you could tell he's got a nose for the End Zone knows how to get in there knows how to make things happen and let's check in with Kevin Conor in the studio Kevin fellas I think at least a portion of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished up USC went scorched Earth in a double digigit win that might have been worse had they not sat the starters in that fourth quarter total Destruction by the Trojans in a statement win if there ever was one 60 Minutes of football and a convincing outcome and certainly a game with implications far beyond just the standings fellas yeah how about that sounds as if they had a good ball game there Kevin thanks for the [Music] update going up top on first down might be looking to run the short hands it's Judkins he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down the time honored phrase for a quarterback is Field General this dude in this environment he he's like a stadium Commander he's like a an elevated rank above Field General he's like an orchestrator he knows how to how to set him off and and bring it up and bring the excitement with the big plays and make it look easy time and time again and that's why this offense is so impressive couldn't find anybody to throw to he'll just toss it away it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again [Applause] from the shotgun the inside K good job running tough and behind his pads as he gets up to the 38 yd line I think they called that knowing they weren't going to hit a home run so why would you call it that well you call it so third down becomes an easier down it's not third and long where I have to pass the football now all options on the table after the strong run on second down third down coming do they do it again the offense will have to use its first timeout of the half time out Ohio State coming to the line of scrimmage on third down 29 Philly 29 Philly back to pass it's Howard going to try to pop one on the screen and he was just a couple of steps away from taking that one even further after the catch that is a time honored way to slow down the rush hit him with the screen and a chunk play yeah such a great job cuz you're flying up the field to get to the quarterback cuz everything looks like pass down the field let those guys get up the field throw it right behind him he does a little bit of the rest making some moves getting up field making the big point they'll throw it on first down coming after it with the catch it's Judkins I think that shows you the experience at the quarterback there his primary target wasn't open so he didn't Panic even though he was getting hit he was still able to find his check down and find some positive yards let's see what they've got on second [Applause] down out of the gun the inside hand off to the running back slammed to the ground but not before he gets the first down and listen the offensive line has to do their job but a really good job by the running back understanding where his hole is go hit it get the first down don't mess around nice job fallowing his hole getting positive yards and the Buckeyes come to the line with a fresh set of downs they'll put the tight end in motion using his legs at Henderson the big defensive tackles in the middle they're they're not always the best pass rushers but they are strong strong and I say Country Strong when they put their hands on you you feel it they lock people out on the line of scrimmage they create separation they wrap running backs up and usually they don't get out of the midst of those big [Applause] boys wants to fire on second down and the quarterback will be slung down back at the 43 and how about the strong safety on that Blitz great job timing it and also getting to the quarterback sometimes you're going to have to negotiate around tight ends and running backs and that strong safety he' just be lined into the back field this will be the eighth play of the drive but a great opportunity for the defense to get off the field got him in it's Scott and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop number 38 on the field goal that's the end of the third quarter of play look the score Ohio State 24 San Diego State 14 so here we are on fourth down and this field goal kicker is going to face all the pressure in the world and that is no good lead is still at double digits but missed a chance to make it bigger San dieg guys we're about to get another look at this San Diego State offense wide receiver shows motion they're going to open this drive with a pass catch in the middle it's Tanner and they'll sped at the 45 that's good enough for a first down after the big play to start now they are on the move at their own [Applause] 45 back to pass it's Duffy quickly complete and oh did they know that one was coming they'll knock him down in the back field this is the moment for this off defense to put a drive together it doesn't matter what's happened up to the point of this game but you're trailing right now you got to put some points up on the board this is where all 11 guys need to be playing together as [Applause] one offense gets set for second [Applause] down he's looking to throw that's caught it's brown he's close to the first down but they're going to Mark him just a little short and he just continues to put up numbers and that number is now over 300 this guy just throws completions man the ball doesn't seem to touch the ground he's back there he's making the right reads right now he is locked in what this defense is trying to do big third down as the crowd Gets behind this defense grabbed behind the line it's Tanner and he was knocked down immediately short of the line to game they'll have to make a decision here you just got the feeling this defense is going to make it hard on them right they've got the lead it's late and they're going to try to tackle everybody in bounds offense is going to have to really work for this and be smart you got to attack the sideline you got to throw first downs you got to keep this thing moving vertically down the field [Music] down in the fourth quarter it's too late for empty possessions they'll go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down and he's going to take it into the end zone touchdown a big tie players make big plays play in big games man it seems like each and every week when this guy has an opportunity in the end zone he's coming up with the big one that time great job focusing and concentration defense not able to cover him that's his now 10th receiving touchdown on the year and he puts through the extra point oh 2 San Diego St lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive set Kick on the run from inside his own five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 take over first in [Music] 10 here comes the Ohio State offense onto the [Music] field used the play fake now to throw forced out of the pocket caught near the sideline it's Scott and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there well it's a nice job to the quarterback after the play fake there getting his eyes down the field he had to get that to his tight end quickly knowing he wasn't going to have a lot of space to run with after the catch to the ground with the back and he'll move his way forward to the first down they'll mark it at the 35 fresh legs man and it is showing of course this team had the buy last week and you're seeing it right now late in the game running the football imposing their will against the defense that looks tired of course they had to play last week and and you're seeing that right now traed in the back field it's Smith and they pick up just a few on that completion I don't know if that's the coverage you want to be throwing wide receiver screens against often times you want the receivers to have some access you want the DBS to be off a couple yards so you can help set up the blocks and give the receiver somewhere to go with it it's hard to run that against press coverage and they only picked up a few yards there takes the hand off it's Judkins they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they need it and he's out to the 43 I think he run that play on second down knowing it's going to make Third Down Easy you're not trying to hit a home run you don't need the big play right now now you know third down everything's on the table everything's available High success R back to throw it's Howard gets it out fast he steps out of bounds but it will be enough for a first down boy the defense really needed to get off the field there and they just couldn't do it and it's a fresh set of down man that hurts when you're trailing late in the ball game you need those stops and you get them to third down you get them to those critical points now they get the first down you don't have many left you better get aggressive they'll throw it on first down he just throws it away and I think the flag's going to be coming and there it is and here comes the offense on second down he's looking to throw got it set up on the outside they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down well a nice Ganer on that running back screen and how about the offensive line getting downfield and getting blocks to really help out the back find some space to go to work the de thinking bring some heat on Third and long from the 449 29 Philly looking downfield and he needs a [Applause] bunch quarterback moving just had to get rid of that one to save the yardage on third down and offensively we know it's hard throwing the ball in Fr and long situations because the defense can play Big Zone coverages they got a lot of guys with their eyes on you so the QB had no shot there nobody open nice job not forcing it not risking a turnover just throwing it away the Aztec offense ready go back to work they put it in the end zone the last time they had it and now an opportunity to really take control of this game you can feel the momentum shifting if they were able to take the football here drive it down the field and score again David they would have all that momentum on side and there's nothing about momentum that you don't want to like I I don't understand it but once it gets going in One Direction a lot of times it's so hard to swing it back the other direction the momentum is real and they got it got it in the middle it's brown and oh he was Off to the Races after the catch and they finally drag him down will we see another catch by this guy this defense is going to need to do a better job of tackling the catch in coverage I know they want to slap the ball away but if you can't do it and force the incompletion you've got to at least make sure you're able to drag him down to the ground as soon as he catches the ball and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up where the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple we have reached the two-minute warning and time is of the essence that this offense is going to make a play [Applause] these fans stepping up to help this defense on third down pulls and fired complete works his way to the 41 and that is plenty to give him a first down love the decision making by the quarterback there on the RPO play defense took everything away deep down the field so just check it down get it to your guy in the right flat and let him go get yards the Aztec will snap it on first and [Applause] 10 looking downfield it's Duffy takes the easy one to the back and that defense is there to guide him out of bounds after a short gain he would love to have picked up the first down there but saving the timeouts saving the clock much more important right now yeah they could save the game because now I can work the middle of the field still now I can still take those shots deep when I get out time out those start to dwindle I get very predictable so great job getting that AB bonance looking to throw on second down flips it out to the back the defense wouldn't let him loose there and it was a completion but they lost yardage defense not fooled there in a two-minute situation this offense trying to go quick game trying to catch some blocks to see if they can spring that guy but the defensive Pursuit just too good on that one trying to move the sticks on third down through the air and he can't get it off taken down what a huge play this late in the game what a great play by the defense and a play like that in this situation of the game late it's close third down it got to happen how about the pass rush how about the effort getting to the quarter trailing by a possession they need to keep the ball they'll try to convert on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down he's got it and they convert the offense gets a quick timeout at this point every second is precious sometimes we don't give enough credit to a receiver knowing exactly where he needs to be on the field and they pick up the first down there yeah and you got to give the receiver credit obviously knowing where that is but the defender needs to know where it is too where is he trying to get that Ball's going to come out quick he didn't really understand where the sticks were and because of that he gives up the first down he can just be a little bit more aware as a defensive guy to the air it's Duffy dumps it to the back can't make the grab quarterback just missed him a little bit well I know it hasn't been a tremendous day statistically for this quarterback but his decision making has been good enough to win this game hasn't thrown a lot of TD so far but when things aren't open he throws it away like on that play right there he's not putting his team in a bad spot and that's why they still have a shot to walk out of here with a W he's got the back in the middle and how about that catch and run so dangerous this guy got to keep that urgency up here but already in position for the game tying field goal gets it out quickly and the defense stops him just short of the first down maybe needed a few more chain links to move the sticks the offense gets the timeout 12 ticks left on the clock [Applause] [Music] [Applause] now second down and it's as if this crowd senses they can help him get a huge stop he's looking to throw they're bringing heat he is brought down but man what a job to find some Running Room and move the chains [Applause] they get the timeout and the clock reads 3 seconds time out San Diego a huge pressurized kick coming right now as this game hangs in the balance and with three seconds left a last chance to extend the game into overtime between the uprights it's good and the kick is good and guys we have ourselves a tie ball game [Applause] and the Aztecs have it with a first and 10 from the gun he leaves it with the back they'll wrestling down just short of the first down I don't even think they're going to bring out the change to measure this [Applause] one this crowd rising up sensing that it defense need some help the give to the back tackle is made after the first down the it is getting loud as this crowd tries to help its defense the give to the back got some room enter to the goal line touchdown San Diego State and they're on top here in overtime number3 and impressive long methodical meticulous Drive ends in points they just matriculated the ball down the field didn't they re so impressive didn't see a lot of explosive plays but how about the execution running and throwing the football wow and they did attack on the extra point by the way he knocked it right down the middle 24 they know what's in front of them they have to answer that score with a [Applause] touchdown from the gun running back on the move and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 looking to throw it's Howard fires to the wide out wide open downfield TouchDown Ohio State they got it in the end zone now a decision to make with a point aage this game must be moving so slowly for this quarterback he sees everything two or three beats ahead way ahead I mean it's been been really really easy I better get some more hits on him I better do something to make him feel uncomfortable cuz right now it's just like oh you're running that yeah that's easy I mean he's he's already read your mail you better change the address and do something different [Music] now first down here in the second overtime Easy Motion from the offense touch pass on the Jet Sweep and a big hit at the end but it didn't stop him from getting the first [Applause] down the Buckey have moved it inside the 20 a little misdirection and the handoff on the [Applause] counter going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down give to the back and they Tred the middle of this defense and that is not happening they'd love to pick up this third down and get a fresh set with first and goal wants to throw on third down touchdown buck eyes got it in to take the lead here in the second o a lot of Glorious Days in the history of the Buckey and this might put this guy right at the top of the list for a single game and that list of names is incredible like we can go down the list of so many guys that have been such great Playmakers so Dynamic so to think about putting yourself in that category we're going to be talking about winning trophies and this guy being an All-American by season in [Applause] [Music] [Music] now on first down they need to answer with a touchdown they'll start this drive with a pass catch in the middle it's brown and they finally haul him down but not before the good catch and run first and goal in overtime and they have to answer with a touchdown they'll run it on first and goal draged down at the six after a pick up of two [Applause] these fans raising the volume on second and goal looking to pass it's Duffy swings it out to the flag smashes through the tackle touchdown ASX they got one score they needed now they need the deuce to send us to Triple [Applause] they need this two-point conversion to send us to Triple [Applause] overtime out of the gun looking to throw he's got it in the end zone two-point conversion is good and we've got a tie game you talk about executing great in a big time moment that's a have to have play I got to have this play to continue this football game coming up clutch great execution by the offense and Palmer we got more free football baby at this point it's going to come down to which defense can get a stop which defense can hunker down even though they're exhausted and make a play to win this game and now it's all two-point conversion attempts from here on out they want to throw it they are stopped on the two-point try and now it'll be up to the defense [Applause] now this two-point conversion attempt for the win 29 they can't convert that short yardage condensed area nobody got the two and we play on let's do it again guys shall we and we'll see just how far down the play she they have to go for this two-point try to throw it's Howard release to the back they can't get it done on the two and now they'll rely on the [Applause] defense after the stop now a two-point try to win the game got his man on the right that's it that's the ball game the two-point try is a winner in OT my pulse raate is still through the roof on this game I would have called that one for free wait I don't want to get carried away there but it was a really fun game and a great win it really was I know we're all up here we're bouncing around we're excited after having seen we just saw what a great win for
